OOC: So this is my second attempt at a diary and I wanted to do something completely absurd, basically the exact opposite of what we did with the WIRE dynasty. Not sure how often I'll post as I don't want this to interfere with my modding but I'll at least try to do one show a week.

Referee Tawaraya

Jesus, the traffic in Kyoto sucks ass. All these stupid tourists crowding the streets! Why don’t you go to Tokyo and have some real fun! I check my phone and realize I’m going to be late again. Great, can’t wait to see what the stick in the mud Maeda has to say about this. It’s not like they can fire me, I’m the only referee on the payroll. On the other hand I should be more punctual...nah, they would just find something else to bitch about.

Finally I arrive at the venue, 30 minutes late of course, the historic Kyoto Arena. Historic huh, just another word for old. Man this place is a dump. Maybe if we could sell a few more tickets we could book some air conditioned venues, like that will happen. I make my way back to the locker room to get dressed, I’m the last one to arrive, as usual.

As I walk over to an empty bench I can feel the 1000 yard stares from Maeda, Shiga and the rest of the roster burning a hole in the back of my head. Wow, Shiga’s pissed, what else is new. I’ve had enough of this already. I drop my bags and loudly yell “I see you all staring, if you’ve got something to say to me say it, otherwise mind your own $%&**&$#% business!”

Maeda walks over to where I’m standing, you can see the steam blowing out of his ears. Man is he mad.

Maeda: “Tawaraya, your late again! This is the fourth time in a row. You know I demand my workers to always be punctual. I simply cannot accept tardiness! Now you will have to appear before wrestlers court and accept your fate!”

I try my hardest not to laugh but I can’t help myself. I break out into a fit or laughter which makes Maeda even more angry. “Cool your jets you old fart. I’ve got plenty of time to get ready for the show, plus you don’t have another referee tonight so I think I’ll be skipping this whole wrestler’s court thing.”

As Maeda looks on in disgust I see Shiga in the background walking towards us. He doesn't look like he’s coming over to exchange pleasantries either.

Shiga: “Tawaraya, you stupid son of a bitch! How dare you disrespect our leader like that. Apologize before I snap you in half like a twig!”

Me: “$#%@ you Shiga! Take one swing at me and you’ll probably break your hip! Now run along and drink some ensure or eat some jello old man river.”

Shiga grimaces at me furiously, rears back his arm and takes a swing…

5 hours later:

I wake up in a haze. The cold concrete floor provides little relief for the throbbing pain of my face. The last thing I remember is Shiga swinging at me. Damn, that old fart actually packs some heat behind those punches. Beside me is a note and an envelope with some cash in it. The note reads “Referee Tawaraya, you’re fired! Please accept your cut from tonight's show as severance for your years of service. It will be a cold day in hell before you ever work for BCG again!”

Damn, those losers actually fired me. I didn’t think they had it in them. In a way I’m proud of them for finally growing some balls but I’m also a bit concerned about finding another job. There are only a hand full of promotions in Japan that could use a referee at the moment and since my first name’s Referee, i’m kind of limited in my employment choices. I guess I’ll go home and make some calls tomorrow.

The Next Day:

I wake up around 8am, my face still stings from Shiga’s punch. This is why I became a referee in the first place, to not have to get punched. Well that and the fact that my first name is Referee, my career basically chose me. I grab my cell and cycle through the contacts. Who should I call, where would be the best place to work, hmmmm….

Ring ring, ring ring…”Hello, this is Haruki Kudo, may I ask who is calling”

Me: “It’s Referee Tawaraya Mr. Kudo, how are you doing?”

Kudo: “I’m well, but a little busy at the moment. What can I help you with?”

Me: “Well sir, I was wondering if you needed any more referees for your shows. I am no longer employed by BCG.”

Kudo: “You worked for BCG, ugh. Yeah, thanks but no thanks (snicker), we have all the referees we need.” ....click

Me: “Hello Mr. Kojima, I was wondering if you were hiring at the moment? A referee position in particular”

Kojima: “Ummmm, can’t say that we are, especially not an #$% hole like you. Wait did I say that out loud? Ignore that. I do however know someone who could take all the help he can get. I’ll text you the address to his office. Be there between 10am and 2pm tomorrow.”

Me: “Great, thank you so much for the opport...click

The Day After Next:

I arrive at the address at 10:15am, well within my time window. I thought I was going to some kind of office but this is an old self storage business. Then I notice D37 written under the address in the text. That must be a number to one of the storage units in here. I hope this is like that Storage Wars show where I find a million bucks stashed in some old unit.

I make my way to D37 and knock on the metal roll up door. I’m not sure what the hell else to do. Suddenly the metal door rolls up and I’m greeted by an older bald man with a crazy smile. “Greetings, I’m Ryu Kajahara, owner of Warrior Engine XXV” he says, still cracking that crazy smile. Warrior Engine XXV I think to myself, what the hell is that, some weird video game.

Me: “Warrior Engine XXV, never heard of it, is that a video game, or some type of manga. I’m not down with that tentacle porn $%^&!”

Ryu: “Tentacle porn, hahahahahaha, you’re funny! Warrior Engine XXV is my wrestling promotion, the greatest wrestling promotion in all the land, for we are not merely mortal men who do combat in the circle of squares, we are GODS!!!!”

Me: “Oooooookay, soooooo, I take it you need a referee then?”

Ryu: “We certainly do, the last one suffered career ending brain bleeding during a exploding barbed wire deathmatch.

WHO YOU CALLING PSYCHO!!!!”

Me: “I didn't say anything. Wait, he was a referee, why was he taking those kinds of bumps? I don’t do the deathmatch stuff. If you want a referee I’m in but you can save the crazy ass bumps for the workers.”

Ryu: “Wait, did I say botched exploding barbed wire deathmatch. I meant to say he fell down a flight of stairs drunk. No worries, you won’t ever have to take any of the crazy bumps, just officiate the matches. (Snicker)”

Me: “If that’s the case I’m in. When can I start?”

Ryu: “Right now, you can be a referee but also, how about I make you booker as well, you can have a double salary!?!”

Ryu extends his hand to shake on the deal. As I pull away, trying to explain to this loon that I have never booked a wrestling show in my life he grabs my hand and initiates a handshake. “Done deal, now I need your help with something” he says all the while smiling away. He nudges me to follow him into the rusty storage unit.

There is a small desk with a computer on it at the front. “Free WIFI!” Ryu smirks. I follow him to a metal table at the back of the unit.

To my shock there is a live shark, about 8 ft long, flopping around on the table. Ryu glances at me, “Hold down this shark while I cut out it’s heart. If you eat the heart of a shark you gain its strength! I think your my new best friend!”

What the $%&* have I gotten myself into… (To be continued)

I head over to the storage unit/office, errrr, the storoffice or the officorage, whatever the hell you call it around noon. Ryu is there as usual, still sporting that crazy smile. In my head I’m going over the probability that my boss is a serial killer. Definitely pretty high I’d say.

Ryu takes me over to the computer and shows me some bull fighting videos he’s been watching all morning on the internet. Probability that my boss is a serial killer has now gone through the roof. “Just look at the spectacle of it all” Ryu mutters.

Me: “The violence is a little excessive, don’t you think?”

Ryu: “Not at all, this is man vs beast in its most primitive form!”

Me: “I guess we will have to agree to disagree on this one”

Ryu: “Watching these videos all morning has given me inspiration! I know I gave you the book and putting together the matchups is your call but I think I’ve come up with the main event of our Anniversary Show, the biggest show of the year!”

In my mind I’m running through all sorts of ridiculous scenarios. This guy truly is a loon. What in the blue $%^& could he truly be thinking about. How on earth does bullfighting have anything to do with pro wrestling? Oh well, might as well entertain his ridiculous idea. “What is it” I ask in an exhaustive tone.

Ryu: “Well before I explain everything first I need a favor. Can I have $30,000?”

Me: “Are you high? Don’t answer that. I was unemployed when I came to you what makes you think I have $30,000?”

Ryu: “I saw you talking with Brains the other night when you met some of the boys,I know Brains is a leprechaun and I know he told you where his treasure is buried.”

Me: “Yep, you’re high. Next time share. Brains is an actual real human you damn fool. He just happens to be a tiny one.”

Ryu: “So you’re gonna play hardball I see. Well maybe once I tell you my idea you will come around.”

Ryu is as giddy as a school girl as he goes over his grand plan. I look on in sheer terror as he goes over the most ridiculous %^&*$(*#@ idea I have ever heard.

Ryu: “So RT, this is my plan. Can I call you RT, it’s got a nice ring to it?”

Me: “I hope you die in a fire!”

Ryu: “Ahhh, yes, my flaming ropes match with Saionji Omura years ago. Those were the good old days. But enough of that. So I figured that I could take the $30,000 of treasure that you are going to give me and buy one of those Spanish Fighting Bulls. Then for the main event of the Anniversary Show I’ll fight the bull to the death in the middle of the ring! No one’s ever seen anything like that before! Imagine the reaction of the crowd as I battle this mythical beast! Two men, err, one man and one beast will enter, only one will leave! Brilliant stuff right?”

Me: “Jesus Ryu, I don’t even know where to begin. What about sponsors, no one would touch us after that and what happens if it gets loose and mauls someone in the crowd. Also who would officiate this match, I sure as &^%$ wouldn’t.”

Ryu: “Why can’t you be more open minded? Look, just give it some thought, The Anniversary Show is a long ways away. I know you met a few of the boys the other night but why don’t you have a seat and check out the roster. I’d like to freshen things up a bit as well so be thinking about bringing in a few other names on the free agent market. Make yourself at home, I’ve got to run. I don’t want to be late to my Make Your Own Firearms Workshop.”

Ryu leaves in a hurry, leaving me to look over the roster. I’m still not quite sure what the hell I’m doing but I can at least see what I have to work with. There might be some talent among this cluster$^&% of nut jobs.”

I arrive at at the Storoffice around 9:00 am, earlier than usual. Deathpalooza is just 7 days away and I want to get the card finalized before Ryu gets here. For the next few hours I go back through the matchups making sure we have plenty of gimmicky violence with a few wrestling matches thrown in for good measure. “I should have been a lawyer” I mutter to myself as I look over some of these stipulations.

Ryu finally watlzes in around 11:00 covered in mud, his face all scratched up and bloody. He seems to be quite the masochist, despite his appearance, there he is donning that crazy smile. I really don’t want to know what he’s been up to but I ask anyway just for $%^ and giggles.

Me: “What the hell happened to you?”

Ryu: “I had a great morning! I feel so exhilarated and refreshed!”

Me: “Then why the $%^& are covered in blood and mud?”

Ryu: “The third week of every month they have a bum fights tournament downtown and I always enter. I am the reigning Bum Fight World Champion!”

Me: “But your far from a bum Ryu, you’ve done okay for yourself. How can you enter a bum fight tournament and why in the blue hell does such a thing even exist?”

Ryu: “I do it for fun of course! Plus, I’m always hearing those voices I told you about and randomly yelling obscenities and all that stuff so I can pass for a homeless person pretty easily. I just rub some dirt of my face and clothes and presto-chango! Ryu’s a bum!”

(I’m breaking the fourth wall here, sue me) TEW players, can you imagine working for this crazy son of a bitch!?!

Ryu: “Dude, did you just break the fourth wall? Not cool man, not cool at all.”

Me: Forget about that, I was talking to myself. What exactly do you win from these bum fights?”

Ryu: “Money of course! I bet thousands on myself and then I just go out there and beat the hell out of these drunk homeless guys. It’s so much fun! Come to think of it, here is some money from my win today. Use it to hire some guys and for the show.”

Me: “I’m glad you mentioned that, I hired a few new guys and they will all be debuting at Deathpalooza. I get to the venue around 6 hours before the show, Ryu’s already here direciting the crew and overseeing the set up of the stage area. The Kumamoto Athletic Center, wow, I take a deep breath and realize that BCG booked some palaces compared to this place.

I take a seat at a desk in the locker room area and make some final touches to the card, adding in a few angles for Ryu. The SOB is crazy but he’s also the most popular member of the roster so I need him out there a lot. A few hours pass and the boys start arriving for the show.

I head out to the parking lot to get some air when I notice a small man stumbling through the parking lot, slamming into parked cars on either side of him like a pinball. As he gets closer I finally make out who it is, it’s Brains. “Great he’s showing up to work completely hammered” I mutter to myself.

Brains: “Jerzeb grrrrgle arggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, gimme nother o’ vodka an I’lllllllllllll be straight rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.”

Me: “Jesus Brians, you are $%^& faced. You can’t work a show like this. It’s bad enough Ryu already thinks your a leprechaun.”

Brains: ” “Har Har Har Har, me goooolllllllldddddddddddddddddd, me gooooooooooollllllllldddddddddddd, don’t try an take me gooooollllllllldddddddddddddddddddd!!!”

Me: “What the $%^&, you are trashed. I’m sending you home and don’t even think about getting paid for tonight. Your cut of the show is going to the house. Now sit your ass down and wait while I call you an Uber.”

Brains: “Waaaarbbbblllllleee gaaaaaaaaaarddddddddddddddddd blaaagheeeerrdddddddddd.”

I wait for the Uber to arrive and help Brains into the car. What a douche. I decide I’ve had enough fresh air and head back inside the venue, ahhhhhh, the fragrant aroma of piss and stale beer. These nights are what I live for. (sarcasm)

As I head back towards the locker room I notice almost the entire roster standing outside the locker room door half dressed and boy do they not look happy. Ryu has said many times the the heart and soul of WEXXV is Munemitsu Senmatsu and Hiroshi Morisue so I immediately head over to the two of them to figure out what’s going on.

Munemitsu: “He says that Kuniyoshi Kawamura’s ass is a weapon of mass destruction.”

Hirsoshi: “Smaaasssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh smaaaasssshhhhhhhhh!!!!!”

Munemitsu: “And that his farts are so deadly that the entire locker room couldn’t breath.”

Hiroshi furiously nods and plugs his nose during Munemitsu’s interpretation. I immediately realize Kawamura’s got some digestive issues and the entire locker room is suffering.

Me: “I’ll talk to him and get him to change somewhere else. Now everybody go back inside and finish getting ready.”

I pull Kawamura out of the locker room and take him down the hall to talk in private. He smells like a burnt diaper covered in hair.

Me: “Kawamura, dude, your farts are out of control. The whole locker room is pissed and tired of smelling whatever poisonous gas is leaking out of your ass.”

Kawamura: “Sorry boss, I’m just addicted to these gas station burritos and they give me the worst gas. I know I shouldn’t eat them but I just can’t help myself.”

Me: “Well look, I don’t care what you do on your off days, eat burritos until your heart explodes if you want but don’t let me ever catch you eating those vial things before a show again. Now go change in the visitors locker on the other side of the stadium, maybe from that far away we won’t be able to smell you.”

Kawamura: “Understood, and it won’t happen again.”

What is wrong with these people. I should book him in a deathmatch with Morisue next month for that stunt but that would mean I would have to push the guy.

The next few hours fly by as the boys go over their finishes with Arakida. Zenshin, the cool guy that he is even lifted everyone’s spirits by organizing a video game tournament; Immortal Deathfighter XII. Geeze, even when they aren’t wrestling they are all about death matches.

I see Ryu talking with Arakida, Munemitsu and Hiroshi. I hope that loon didn’t change the finish of tonight’s main event without telling me. He knows I hate surprises.

Finally it’s time for the show to start. I head out to the ring to assume my position as Deathpalooza begins...

OOC: Had a busy day traveling for the Holidays so I won't be able to get to the show tonight but I wanted to post something at least so i figured I would recap all the fun I had dealing with locker room incidents.

Robin Yamazaki:” I hate to interrupt you Eisaku but looks like our beloved commissioner, Ryu Kajahara has something to say. Let’s go to the ring.”

As the crowd erupts with cheers Ryu is suddenly interrupted by Seishiro Hiraga. Hiraga joins Ryu in the ring, accompanied by a chorus of boos by the fans.

The chorus of boos intensifies as Hiraga berates the crowd.

Hiraga: “Of course exchanging pleasantries with you isn’t why I came out here. I came out here to let everyone know that I have officially fired Kimi Kawano as my client. Kimi couldn’t get the job done and I don’t represent losers.”

Ryu: “But you do represent a huge problem at the buffet line though, Zing! See what I did their?”

Hiraga: “Hahaha, very funny Ryu. Next time try to be more creative with your insults.”

Ryu: :Well I was just going to call you a fat $%^& but I figured that would be too easy.”

The crowd breaks out in a fit of laughter as Hiraga gets more and more irritated.

Hiraga: “WellI I was going to be nice tonight, come out here and let my new stable of killers pick up and easy win but since you and these morons in the audience want to be dicks and give me a hard time I’m going to have my new clients offer these gods you speak of the first sacrifice of the night. That sacrifice will be my old client, Kimi Kawano, The Gremlin and Henry Bennett. May they forever rest in peace. You see you may think of yourself as gods but I’ve got a group of Titans, The New Titans that have come to WEXXV to destroy your gods!”...

The eerie sounds of Slipknot begins playing over the sound system as a mysterious figure dressed in all black stands on the stage holding a chainsaw. The mysterious figure cranks up the chainsaw and waves it around almost as if he is doing some sort of sadistic dance.

Ryu: “Oh that’s right, I almost forgot Hiraga. I have hired a new “segment enforcer” to help keep the show moving and hopefully keep boring segments, like whenever you speak to a minimum. Let this serve as a warning, whenever you or anyone else comes out here blathering about and boring the crowd to tears the segment enforcer is going to come out here with his handy dandy chainsaw and make sure you get the hell out of the ring. WEXXV fans, I present to you our new segment enforcer, The Black Angel Oniji Hanari!”

Hanari slowly walks towards the ring swinging his chainsaw from side to side like a mad mad. Every few steps he takes a swipe at a member of the audience, barely missing them.

He slides into the ring and does his best leatherface impression as he spins around swinging the chainsaw wildly.

Hiraga almost $^%& his pants as he rolls out of the ring and makes his way up the ramp.

Roni Yamazaki: “Hahahaha, that Ryu is always thinking outside the box. The Oscars have the wrap it up music when a segment goes on too long, we have our very own chainsaw wielding maniac!”

Eisaku Shigeki: “It’s definitely an interesting way to keep the show moving along. Perhaps some bigger promotions who tend to produce very boring segments can borrow Oniji from time to time.”

Robin Yamazaki: “Great idea Eisaku, now let’s get to the ring for some action!”

Bookers Notes: I had to give the new guys a win and have them debut strong. The wrestling was absolute $%^& but that’s not what the fans want to see. Both teams made great use of the weapons provided and The TItans all know how to use their size and power to look dominant. Having them destroy a few guys lower on the card while the audience gets to know more about them was the way to go. Henry Bennett came to me after the match and bitched about how he doesn’t perform well in hardcore based matches, you are in a deathmatch promotion you idiot!

After the match Hiraga isn’t satisfied with the destruction caused by his New TItans. He orders them to set up three tables covered in thumbtacks. One by one the three losers are powerbombed through the tables and left lying in a heap as The New Titans pose over there victims in the ring.

Bookers Notes: While the match was decent Kawamura needs to improve a lot if he wants to move up the card. Getting a quick win like this over a vet like Sakata gives Sakata something interesting to do and hopefully gets Kawamura some more in ring experience. Look to see these two face off again in the near future. Putting Muscle Serizawa in their gives him some experience as well. He’s young and green so taking a loss here doesn’t hurt him at all.

Bookers Notes: This was a very good match for WEXXV standards. The fans seem to really love the intensity of these strongstyle matches so it looks like my experiment to interfect some real wrestling into this fed is actually working. Toyokuni is best served in the tag ranks for now so Konoe will make a fine first champion.

The Forlorn Hope get the win over the McWade Brothers when Koichi Kajiwara pinned Dallas McWade after a running tackle.

Bookers Notes: I put a lot on these four and they delivered with both teams working their asses off. I asked for some insane bumps and crazy spots and of course lots of blood and we got that in droves. As The Forlorn Hope pulled off a double balcony dive through table and both teams excessively used the staple gun once the McWades retrieved it. Forlorn Hope get the win, it’s a bit too early to switch the titles and the McWades were the last team to hold them. Next month should be a blow off for this feud as I look to build up some new tag teams.

After the match the McWades jump Makioka and Kajiwara as they are celebrating. They pummel both men down to the mat then grab the staple gun and proceed to staple the forehead of Makioka several times then do the same to Kajiwara.

To rub salt in the wound that is a beaten down Makioka and Kajiwara the McWade Brothers spit on their lifeless bodies as they leave the ring.

Bookers Notes: Umehara is too low on the card to be holding this title, hell I’m not sure why he was holding it in the first place. Switching the title to Shichirobei makes sense as he is high enough on the card to be a legitimate title holder. Now I just need to change this dudes name to something easier to spell.

Bookers Notes: Peak getting the win herer was the right call. Washi Heat might be our best wrestler but he doesn’t really fit in here plus he keeps signing with other promotions so there is no way I can depend on him being in involved in a title feud. Peak keeps the storyline with the SOB vs Senmatsu/Morisue moving along as well.

Senmatsu: “That’s right Hiroshi, The SOB is in for the ass kicking of a lifetime, I hope you boys brought your A game because I know we did! Tonight your in for a nightmare and that nightmare is wrapped in barbed wire!”

The SOB defeated Senmatsu and Morisue by pinfall. After interference by Doug Peak, Gareth Wayne pinned Hiroshi Morisue with a shoulder breaker.

Bookers Notes: These four put on one hell of a main event with multiple bumps on the barbed wire boards and thumbtacks. The ending of the match was brutal as after Doug Peak attacked Hiroshi, he took an insane bump for the pin after Gareth Wayne hit him with a shoulder breaker onto cement blocks. The SOB get the win to advance the feud as I’m not ready to end this quite yet.

After the match the all three SOB members continue their assault on the bloody and battered duo of Senmatsu and Morisue. Several officials including myself try to break up the skirmish but are quickly tossed out of the ring. I somehow manage take a tumble onto a barbed wire board at ringside. Ryu better pay me double for this.

As the SOB set up Senmatsu to be slammed onto a stack of barbed wire boards suddenly…

Out of nowhere Morimasa Kato charges to the ring. As he enters the ring Doug Peak comes at him but Kato hits him with a flying knee. Peak goes toppling out of the ring.

Henry Lee grabs his barbed wire baseball bat and takes a swing at Kato but he ducks and kicks Lee square in the head with a roundhouse kick. Sending Lee tumbling through the ropes.

Gareth Wayne then attempts to drop Kato with a big lariat but Kato ducks under, rebounds off the ropes and clocks Wayne with a vicious flying forearm, clearing the third man out of the ring.

Kato stands tall with Senmatsu and Morisue as the SOB gingerly make their way to the back.

I missed predicting but the show was fantastic! Taheiji Konoe should have gotten the singles push over Munemitsu WEXVV! Change my mind. But that’s another argument for another day. Right now he’s holding a new title and hopefully that means the Beast is getting a well deserved push. Good stuff willrock keep it up
