We all know what both men are capable of but is there a problem in Rogue Squad like Okamoto said at the press conference? Could it be a problem for Brandon Smith? The former INSPIRE fighter could become the first "double crown champion" if he can beat Torii for a third time: The „KILLING MACHINE“ was a World Heavyweight champion before. <div style="text-align:justify;">Accompanied by Stone Yoshikawa, Mítico and Stealth were looking to dethrone the Rogue Squad in front of a packed Tokyo crowd - The biggest crowd in White Canvas history! However it wasn't meant to be when "Z" had to tap to Mäkinen's brutal Grapevine submission move. Stealth and Mítico were absolutely gutted afterwards and had to be consoled by the former WCG Jr. champion Yoshikawa.

Roderick Remus & Konrad Mäkinen def. El Mítico Jr. & Stealth Z (13m10s) when Mäkinen used Swedish Grapevine on Stealth [60] (2nd Defense)

<div style="text-align:justify;">After losing the tag belts at Anniversary OWARI wasn't the same anymore. Arguably the best tag team in WCG history they nothing more than memories and ghost. Again Fujio Narahashi was the one who took the pinfall, although he had more success as a singles competitor, which led Kita to do a fuming rant. To top the whole scenery Kita kicked Narahashi to the head and took him out with a Rear Naked Choke! The crowd was numbed, Kita left the ring with a smirk on his face. OWARI is no more!

The Berzerkers (Tatsukichi Shichirobei & Toyokuni Hardcore) def. OWARI (Azumamaro Kita & Fujio Narahashi) (12m24s) when Shichirobei used a Charging Big Boot on Fujio [55]

<div style="text-align:justify;">A match between enemies is always a great thing to see for the WCG faithful. Phoenix and Laine dislike each other and they showed it today in front of fifteen thousand fans in Tokyo. Laine tried to hit Phoenix with a Piledriver on the apron again, thankfully Phoenix reserved the move and let Laine tasted his own medicine. After missed Phoenix Splash the second try was succesful and made history with the victorious pinfall victory. Phoenix now holds the record for the most defenses in one reign with four.

Pavel-Vanzycha.pngSterling-Whitlock-2.pnggye7HAw.pngCCsNANB.pngNigelSvensson_alt1-1.png

<div style="text-align:justify;">Unlucky Snow! You could see that the coordination between Svensson and Snow wasn't on point and the Rogue Squad team was way more experienced together. Snow was isolated after Whitlock put Svensson through a table outside of the ring, the american tried to fight against the two and had success at first but was caught after a while. Vanzycha got the upperhand and locked in his Cross Armlock for the win, while Whitlock had Snow's neck around his arms.

<div style="text-align:justify;">The war went over six months between those two warrior but always has an end, right? Both men wasted no time and went to a back and forth fight, took no prisoner but a weird way of respect was in the air. It was pretty clear to see that Sarumara was done but a warrior like he is wouldn't give up that easily. Toshusai hits him with a Piledriver for two followed by his Shock Treatment..Also for two!!

Sarumara couldn't stand on his two feet anymore and finally was done after the second Shock Treatment. Toshusai not only won the NYCW title but also the war. The Shokka-gun leader helped Sarumara to his feet, hugged him to the surprise of the fans and raised his arm. Toshusai took a microfon and told the fans that his war with Sarumara is over, the war showed him that White Canvas is his home now and...

<div style="text-align:justify;">What a great fight between two absolute studs. Torii and Kato hit everything they've got, it was a brutal fight with hard hitting wrestlers. Torii nearly ripped Kato's head off with a insane Lariat followed by a series of different suplexes and that was the keyword for Kato's secret weapon: Referee Koetsu Shinozaki checked on Kato and freshly returned from Excursion Gidayu Katou hits a brutal Lariat on Torii, who went inside out like a puppet.

Kato took notice hits a knee strike but Torii made a comeback..not for long. Kato nailed a german suplex on the "Machine Gun" and killed the champion with his Inundation to become the new Intercontinental champion.

WCG World Heavyweight Championship

RazanOkamoto.pnggye7HAw.pngBulldozer_Brandon.png

<div style="text-align:justify;">The match started off fairly even, Smith took over soon and for a long time, too. The american has more strenght which was obvious in the match, Okamoto made a handful of comebacks under loud chants from the Tokyo crowd. Smith nearly got the win after a Tombstone Piledriver in the middle of the squared circle, Okamoto raised his shoulders above in the right time. "The Dreamcatcher" managed to counter a second attempt of the Tombstone to a Dragon Suplex for a great nearfall.

In the crunchtime it was very much a back and forth match with Okamoto hitting a German Suplex to setup the possible match ending. After a Senzai Ishiki Knee Strike it was Smith who hits Okamoto with a devastating Lariat out of nowwhere. The match was on a razor's edge when Razan was able to hit a Knee Strike to the forehead, one to the neck and one to the chest to finally bruise Smith. The Brainbuster Suplex lands on the mat, Referee Doppo Ibu slapped three times onto the canvas and the V4 was in the books.

COMMENTS

Razan Okamoto: „He fought very well. I think he's not Rogue Squad bound to be honest, he's a genuine wrestler and not like the others there. I want to make WCG the best promotion in Japan and the whole world and fights like this one are very good for my goal. Shikitei is also a good fight, he can be a prick too, so I've to be careful. [..] Headlining the biggest show in WCG history, in the legendary Colosseum is something else. I've always dreamed to step foot in that ring in this venue, i'm speechless.“

Morimasa Kato: „I told him that I've got something up my sleeves. They're [Hontai] so pathetic. Yanagita? INSPIRE is dead, get over it you punk. “

Gidayu Katou: „Gidayu Katou is dead, KATOU is here. Did you like it Torii? I hope so. All of WCG are as*holes, nobody helped me during my awful excursion. Nobody listened to me!! Kenka is the perfect place for me now.“

Tadakuni Toshusai: „Yea I said that i'm going to embarasse him, but he fought like a lion. I was impressed with him, the crowd and all things happened out there. It was like seeing myself back in Burning Hammer“ Question about the future of Shokka-gun „I don't know. Serizawa is on excursion, Makioka and Konoe wasn't in attendance tonight. I feel like it's done for me at least.“

Azumamaro Kita: „DID YOU SEE IT, NARAHASHI? THAT'S HOW YOU THREAT YOUR ENEMIES!“

Loved the show from top to bottom. I love EY so seeing him to get "his" title back is fun. Reminds me of Zack Sabre Jr. vs Tanahashi for the RevPro title.

Love me some Kato so I'm glad he won. "INSPIRE is dead, get over it you punk." :D

Shikitei is underrated, glad to see him be a challenger. I think Okamato has the belt locked down for a long time, though.

ANNOUNCEMENT: GCG Acquirement

2Yu8sZS1.jpgdYqgTAA.pngvBCSri8.png

White Canvas Grappling and Golden Canvas Grappling came to an agreement regarding the future of the oldest promotion in Japan. WCG acquired GCG for an undisclosed fee. A press conference was held today with more details concerning the acquisition:

~ Under the deal, WCG owner Junnosuke Fukazawa will now serve as president of Golden Canvas Grappling, while longtime owner Haruki Kudo will act as vice president and will remain as the booker.

~ The two promotions will continue to run as separate entities, there are no intensions of cross-promotion at the moment.

~ Fukazawa has said that there is no consideration of a merger between WCG and GCG. Fukazawa stated that he worked twenty years under the "Golden Lion" banner so the move to acquire GCG was more of saving the company and not let it die like it happened with BCG before.

~ The legendary Haruki Kudo said that the announcement of the move was completely last minute. He said that the wrestlers were expecting a bankruptcy and a release. They're all happy to stay with GCG.</div>

„Narahashi screwed himself“

Azumamaro-Kita-1.png

It was a real shocker when Azumamaro Kita shocked the Tokyo crowd when he kicked his friend and tag partner Fujio Narahashi to the head, locked in a rear naked choke to put Fujio's lights out. The former WCG Tag Team titleholder left with a devious smirk on his face, today he's going to justify himself.

Q: Fifteen thousand people were left in a state of a shock after you betrayed your long time friend and tag team partner in the middle of the ring. We've to ask, why Kita?

AK: Is this a serious question?

Q: Uhmm...yes...

AK: Pff...Ignorant. Are you even a journalist? Who do you work for?

Q: Uhhhm... WCG and Tokyo Sports Press sir.

AK: *laughs* Sure, typical Tokyo Sports Press idiot. You want to know why I attacked Narahashi? It's quite simple. Everyone is prasing Narahashi after the S-1 or the White Canvas Trophy for having such a great tournament, but he always took the pinfall in our tag team matches this year. You know what? Fujio Narahashi screwed himself.

Q: So you basically telling the fans of WCG that your tag title loss was all Narahashi's fault?

AK: That's correct. He wasn't connected to our team anymore. The greatest tag team wrestlers of Japan were all connected to their team and success, but him? After seeing the lights at Anniversary I was so focussed to get us back to the top [..] And Narahashi? He lost every match for us and didn't get on the scoreboard for a win again.

Q: Narahashi was the weak-link at the end for OWARI and wasn't interested in OWARI anymore, is that what you're trying to say?

AK: Correct. He saw more in being a singles wrestler. I don't mind him, but don't play with me. I know what you're thinking "Kita is nuts blaw blaw" You know what? I am nuts.

Q: What's your goal here without Narahashi?

AK: I have to face him sooner or later. He has beaten me in 2016 in the 1st round of the White Canvas Trophy, I'll get my revenge but my eyes are on Reiwa-jidai.

Q: Reiwa-jidai? The Reiwa period you mean?

AK: Yes, punk. With the new time period the whole system in WCG will have a shake up, trust me.

Q: Uhhmm..okay. Thank you Kita-san for the interview.

Niigata we're comin' for you! WCG will held Survivor Battle at Niigata Memorial Gymnasium with an World Heavyweight title headliner between champion Razan Okamoto and challenger Omezo Shikitei. The new Intercontinental champion will also be in action and defend his title against "The Dog Of War" Kimitada Yanagita. Gidayu Katou, now called KATOU, will have his anticipated return match against former IC-champ Bunrakuken Torii. WCG president Junnosuke Fukazawa announced that Tiger Fuyuki is going to retire at the end of July and will have a special retirement match at Saitama Sports Field.

„25 years in a pro-wrestling ring may come to an end, but I'm forever grateful to be a part of the journey White Canvas Grappling is on. To be honest I thought my career was done after the release by Burning Hammer years ago but Fukazawa-san's call changed my life. I can happily retire now.“, said Tiger Fuyuki upon his retirement match in Saitama which will include his friends like Yoemon, Sarumara and Yanagita. Tiger Fuyuki will remain in WCG as one of the head coaches of the WCG Dojo.

WCG World Heavyweight Razan Okamoto about Fuyuki's Retirement: „I wish Fuyuki-san the very best of luck in his future life. He's a great pro wrestler and should be a perfect role model for the young generation.“ Okamoto about his next defense: „Shikitei and I shared the ring many times over the last years. He's a talented guy but too much of a loudmoth tho. I'm confident enough to say that I wont lose the championship in Niigata. That's a guarantee. He's one of my greatest rivals in WCG and I'm looking forward to face him again.“

Kimitada Yanagita: „I'll miss you, Kaneie [Fuyuki]. You'll be forever one of my closest friends and I love you brother.“ Yanagita focused and said: „I had an amazing year so far competing at S-1 Festiva l and now challenging for a singles title. I saw what Kato and his slave did to Torii and I'm mad as hell. I don't know why he's insulting our heart and soul for INSPIRE, he's disrespectful to us [Hontai] and I'm going to teach him some respect.“

Tadakuni Toshusai was the last man at the press conference: „I'm a new man. I lost my spirit for pro-wrestling and I'm really glad Sarumara helped me to get back on track. I'm not particular happy being a champion of a company I've never visited but guys like Youngman should learn from me and not being pricks. I've had my issues and the last months I was a guy like Youngman, he should watch my tapes and get his sh*t back together.“

<div style="text-align:justify;"></span><span style="font-family:arial;"><span style="font-size:10px;">It was KATOU's first singles match since he returned to the Company after a year long excursion outside of Japan. With only Twenty-two years in age, the former Gidayu Katou is the youngest non-young boy roster member but one of the most determined. You could see it when KATOU attacked Torii, joined Kenka and helped MorimasaKato to win the Intercontinental title. KATOU, now called "The Ripper" due to his devastating Lariats, adapted a more cocky style on his excursion. Peeved about his title lost due to the hands of KATOU, "Machine Gun" Bunrakuken Torii promised to wipe the floor with KATOU's face, he didn't even waited before the bell rung to start the fight. Despite of KATOU's youth Torii managed to overcome the offense from "The Ripper" with his Spinning Forearm Smash.</span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:arial;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-family:arial;">

<div style="text-align:justify;"></span><span style="font-family:arial;"><span style="font-size:10px;">Yanagita referred to the soul of INSPIRE which made Morimasa Kato laugh. The current Intercontinental champion told Kimitada Yanagita that all Hontai members are just pathetic to speak about a dead boy like INSPIRE. "The Dog Of War" is pissed about those statements by his former company mate and told him that he needs to get his act together. Typical for those two warriors they had a hard fight with back and forth action and hard hitting maneuver. Eventually Kato hits Inundation to prepare the Choke Sleeper in which Yanagita had no choice but to tap. </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:arial;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-family:arial;">

<div style="text-align:justify;"></span><span style="font-family:arial;"><span style="font-size:10px;">You may not know how close the story between Omezo Shikitei and Razan Okamoto is. Shikitei has beaten "The Dreamcatcher" twice, both matches were held during the Strong-One Festival in 2017 and in this year's tournament. However Okamoto held one victory over the Kenka man in a World titlematch, which took place in Yoyogi at Strong Energy 2017. Shikitei may not the most iridescent wrestler on the roster but a real dangerous foe for everyone with great technique and a killer move and is destined to win his first gold in White Canvas Grappling. Razan Okamoto wasn't keen on his idea and gave everything he got in his repertoire. The champion and his challenger had a great match with a bunch of nearfalls, big moves on each side and a sheer will to win. 6. RISE Openweight Tournament Round 2: Motoyuki Miyake def. Kimitada Yanagita (14m39s) with a PK [52]

- In a typical veteran versus young gun fight, Motoyuki Miyake got the upperhand over Kimitada Yanagita after the Penalty Kick. This win may be the biggest singles victory in the young career of Miyake after he lost to Yanagita in the last year in a singles match. Backstage Miyake said that he's goal is to become the first champion and to defend the title outside of RISE. An Openweight championship is very exciting for WCG and he wants to prove a point with the title, Miyake told to the journalists.

- With Battle Sakata injured, Kado Kamisaka had his second chance in the tournament to be the inaugral RISE Openweight champion and he took his chance. The Golden Canvas Grappling man surprisingly beats Tanyu Toshusai after a Piledriver. Kamisaka is going to face Miyake in the Semi-Final, he lost to Miyake at RISE2 and his seeking for some revenge.

Big weeks upcoming when White Canvas Grappling is going to New York to held a collaboration show with their partners New York City Wrestling. Just six days later the White Canvas Trophy will kick-off in Tokyo and culminate in our old capital Kyoto. From Kyoto we're going to Osaka to show FIGHTING SPIRIT in the heart of Kansai!

WCG president Junnosuke Fukazawa isn't happy: „Sotatsu Sarumara will be out of action due to a shoulder injury. He can't compete in the White Canvas Trophy and will be replaced by Kuemon Hotta. Azumamaro Kita is also injured and will be out of action with a Torn ACL. We wish both competitor a speedy recovery.“

„I'm really excited to be in New York City for the first time in my life. We're happy to meet our american fans and friends at the Trinity Hotel. I think we'll bring one of the best talents we've to offer for a show like this.“, said Fukazawa.

After his challenge it was pretty clear that Bunrakuken Torii won't compete in the White Canvas Trophy. The former Intercontinental champion is desperated to beat Kato and to bring back "his" title home. Torii withdrew his WCG Trophy starting point to have another crack at the "KILLING MACHINE" and his IC-title.

<div style="text-align:justify;">Art Reed and Tadakuni Toshusai aren't that different. Both men never won a singles title before in their career (Toshusai's first singles title is the NYCW title), both men worked for the two major companies in Japan and both men were always underdogs. It was a typical "friendship" fight between them with much respect for either one, the New York crowd knew that this fight was something special for their home promotion. Reed made the traditional underdog comeback while Toshusai dominated most of the bout. The canadian showed real fighting spirit and locked in his prominent Dread Lock for the win, the NYCW faithful erupted and celebrated Reed's titlewin. After the match Toshusai hand the title over to his opponent and raised his arm.

COMMENTS

Art Reed: „I'm so so happy. Words cannot describe my feelings right now. I've travelled to Japan, Europe, Australia and of course around North America but I wasn't able to win a title nowhere I went. I had great fights with great legends, man I've got so many respect for Tadakuni. My goal is to have a match with the WCG World champion, call me Razan I'll wait.“

Tadakuni Toshusai: „It's dissapointing to lose a match, it's even more dissapointing to lose a title.. Reed was a fierce opponent and I have to congratulate him to win his first title. My focus is on the White Canvas Trophy now, my first match is with Yoshinaka Taku, who's a dangerous opponent. I'm ready!“

Hitomaro Suzuki: „That was intense. Ten minutes of intense action with a behemoth. I have to say I was pretty impressed with this Shark, we should invite him to Japan, right? I'm interested to see what he can achieve in Japan.“

Acid II: „This is my yard. I know I'm a weak link in most matches in Japan but NYC is my yard, my home, my heart. Did you see my buddy Stuntman? You guys should send him to Japan, too. Fukazawa-san, please let us fight together in WCG.. You know we just beaten your Junior Tag champs, right?“

7. White Canvas Trophy Round 1: Greg Gauge def. Hitomaro Suzuki (21m07s) with a Proton Lock [72]

- One of the greatest rivalries in White Canvas Grappling is definetly Hitomaro Suzuki and Greg Gauge. Those two had battles over tournaments and titles, pride and honor and so much more. Gauge wrestled much smarter than their last meeting, reduced his villainous tactics and focussed much more on his wrestling ability, it seemed like an impressive gameplan. They traded a bunch of near falls towards the end, Suzuki escaped the Proton Lock and Gauge did the same with the Suzuki Lock. However it was "Genius" who couldn't escaped for a second time and had to tap out to his nemesis. The defending champion was eliminated for the first time in tournament history.

- Motoyuki Miyake had the fight of his life against behemoth Brandon Smith. The american "Bulldozer" was surprised about Miyake's ability to absorb punishment like a champion when he has hit a good number of different suplexes. The young Miyake made a comeback after he nailed Smith on the canvas with a german suplex for a two count. The Bunkyo crowd went nuts when Miyake tried to lift Smith onto his shoulders, but the 23 years old collpased due to Brandon's weight. Miyake applied a Octopus Hold, the win was within reach but ultimately he came short after Smith bruised him with a Lariat followed by a Tombstone.

- It is really sobering how Yoshinaka Taku has performed the last months. After a decent run in the S-1 Festival "The Lion" wasn't that conspicuous anymore. On the other side Tadakuni Toshusai had a rollercoaster 2018 so far with a blood feud with Sotatsu Sarumara, a change of his mind from evil genius to a nicer personality and a brief title run with the NYCW Empire championship. The former Burning Hammer Of The Wrestling Gods stalwart was more determined than his opponent and took the first round victory with his Shock Treatment. Toshusai reached out his hand for a handshake, Taku anwered with a shake of his head, frustrated with his performance.</span></p><p><span style="font-family:arial;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-family:arial;">

- Be honest, did you expect that the oldest active roster member could do a eleven minute sprint match with a much younger opponent? The 48 years old "Dog Of War" gets even better with every day and forced "Ice Cold" Ray Snow to a hard hitting fight, back and forth action with absolutely no time to breathe. Yanagita's offense is still pretty dangerous but is age catches up on him and makes his defense even weaker. Snow found an opening in his defense and send him down with a Spinning Back Fist for the three.</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p><span style="font-family:arial;">

7. White Canvas Trophy Round 2: Brandon Smith def. Fujio Narahashi (19m16s) with a Tombstone Piledriver [65]

- It's finally happening! Both Rogue Squad men won their matches and will face each other in the semi-final in an inter-faction fight. Gauge got his revenge against xDREAM member Kuemon Hotta, who has beaten Gauge during the S-1 Festival, which was one of the losses who cost Gauge a potential final match. Brandon Smith and Fujio Narahashi had a traditional, hoss fight where "The Bulldozer" pinned the former tag champion with a brutal Tombstone Piledriver.

- The newly founded alliance called JackalZ made an impact tonight when Mítico pinned young Acid II after his Northern Lights Suplex. The mexican took a microfon and made an assertive challenge to WCG Junior Heavyweight Champion Japanese Phoenix. The two-time Junior champ accepted the challenge from the mask man, but also reminded him that he's still a greenhorn.
