Like father, like son? - Part Two: Arutha Hawke Jr. (Cverse 97)

Recommended Posts

I decided to take this dynasty idea literally.

As mentioned in part one this is my favourite ever TEW save and I really wanted to make sure I wrote the story of Arutha Hawke. Hawke is still going strong but now it's time for the focus to shift to the next generation. How will Hawke Jr. compare to his father? Will he achieve the same greatness in the ring? Will he build a company as mighty as NWF? We'll find out the answers to these questions as we go along.

You can read the (ridiculously long) prologue to Hawke Jr's diary here: http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=543776

and here is the TLDR version:

Arutha Hawke made his wrestling debut and took the book of the NWF in January 1997, the same month his son was born. The NWF was an incredible success, rising from literally nothing to being a global wrestling phenomenon. Along the way stars like Tommy Cornell, Jeff Nova, Dark Angel and Angry Gilmore became established NWF names. Hawke lost the book in 2003 after pushing women's wrestling further than many people were comfortable with. The final straw came when Sensational Ogiwara won the NWF Heavyweight Title at the biggest show on the NWF calendar. Hawke has continued his illustrious career winning seven world championships and being named wrestler of the year twice.

In 2015 his son, Arutha Jr. who had been training at the NWF wrestling school was offered an NWF contract and a storyline with his dad. Hawke Jr. rejected the offer, deciding instead to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming the booker of a small promotion and working his way up from the bottom. He joined his friend Kevin Jones, who is the owner of Mighty Wrestling Group, a small promotion based in Pamplona, Spain. Hawke decided the hide his identity and donned a mask to become the villainous El Gamberro. This is his story. Can he eclipse his father's incredible career? Will he ever return to the NWF? Only time will tell.

Pre show notes: During the pre-show production meeting it became clear that most of my babyfaces do not live up to their on screen personas. Fernando Cardoso was already creating animosity due to his attitude and tendency to prank the wrong people.

The crowd is down by 35 people, this is not a good sign.

MWG Vertigo

January, Saturday Week 4

Plaza La Navarre. Attendance - 830

Angle featuring Wael Hossam, Stefan Kozlowski and Kalu Owusu

The first show of the year opens with some generic Egyptian sounding music (we have no music budget) and Wael Hossam makes his way to the ring with a mic:

"I am here to thank you all. I remember Mighty Wrestling Group's first ever show and we have come so far since then. I want to thank you also for voting seven of my matches as the best seven matches of last year. This is my third year here in MWG and to start it I have two resolutions. Number one; to continue to entertain you all. Number two; to win the MWG title. I have previ...." Hossam is interrupted mid sentence by more generic sounding music and the MWG champion, Stefan Kozlowski appears on the ramp.

"Hossam! You have a big problem with one of your resolutions. You can do what you want want for the fans but no one is taking the MWG title from me". Kozlowski is in the ring now and as they square up, Hossam towers over the five foot five inch Kozlowski. Hossam signals that he is taking the belt but yields the ring to allow the champion to speak. As he reaches the top of the ramp he is felled by a huge blow from behind. Kalu Owusu steps out of the shadows and the mammoth Ivorian and Kozlowski put the boots to the Egyptian. They pose with the MGW belt much to the vocal distain of the audience.

Rating – 77.

This went well although it was supposed to be a babyface turn for Hossam but I forgot to set him to turn.

Fernando Cardoso (with Vita) defeated Shane Hannigans via Pinfall

Rating – 48.

These guys have great chemistry and the match was still not good. Vita debuted her new Girl Next Door gimmick and got an initial rating of awful, this is going to be a problem. I was the road agent for this match and did a bad job, I imagine I’ll be seeing a lot of that message.

qfepLD8.jpgKdpJZws.jpg

Jones rolls out of the ring and Vita grabs a mic. "You see this man?" Indicating Cardoso. "Take a good look at him." She licks her lips. "MWG is in good hands. Every wrestling promotion should always be looking to the future, look no further than Fernando Cardoso. For years he has trained and toiled looking for an opportunity to chase his dreams and here in MGW his opportunity has arrived. Tonight he showed his athleticism and his will to win and..." Vita stops as a large man wearing a white mask with a red cross walks up to the ring swigging from a beer bottle.

"Let me stop you there." He has a cockney accent and sounds half drunk. "Neither of you half wits has any kind of future in this business. Look at this string-bean, i'd have him unconscious in less than a minute." He moves into the ring menacingly and motions to hit Vita with the bottle. Cardoso leaps to her defence and the masked man rolls out of the ring and walks to the back smirking and drinking.

Kozlowski comes out microphone in hand accompanied once again by Kalu Owusu.

"Why do you think I am your champion? I don't have the physical advantages of someone like Owusu yet I am still the best wrestler here in MWG, by some distance. It must be my mammoth intellect as well as my speed, technical ability and will to win. I have overcome all the odds but now I am going to even them. Owusu and I have made a deal and..." Once again a promo is interrupted, this time by the Spanish National Anthem (it's free) and hometown favourite, Antonio Arias, comes out for the match. Rating – 71.

Yep, these guys are money.

Wael Hossam and Antonio Arias defeated Stefan Kozlowski and Kalu Owusu via submission

Arias is nursing a (legit) arm injury so Hossam did the heavy lifting for his team. He started off with Kozlowski who was soon outmatched and tagged in Owusu. Owusu outpowered Hossam but Hossam used his mat wrestling skills to get the better of the big man. Hometown hero Arias got a hot tag and flew all over the place taking out the heels. Hossam tagged back in just as Owusu was tagging out to Kozlowski, Arias took out Owusu with a suicide dive and Hossam caught Kozlowki in the Camel clutch making the champion tap out!

Rating – 61.

Arias really struggled due to his injury and the fact that he does not click with Vita who was managing him for the first (and last) time.

Overall rating – 59

It could have been worse for sure. Every match got dinged for low content risk but that is easy to fix. Locker room morale is very low which also affected ratings and that is harder to fix.

Stefan knew something was wrong the moment that he finished the move. He slid back into the corner of the ring lightheaded due to the pain in his knee, yeah, something was very wrong. He somehow got through the match and straight afterwards signalled for one of the ring crew to call an ambulance.

“Do you want the good news or all of the bad news?” Not a great question to hear from your new boss. I always like to get the bad news out of the way and end on good news so that is the option I chose. The bad news was that the show was reviewing worse than my predecessor’s last effort and it had drawn fewer fans. Further bad news was that Vita’s new gimmick had received a disastrous reception and she was not happy about it. Even more bad news was that locker room morale was very low and that was affecting performances.

The good news was that we had turned a profit of $592, well that’s something at least.

Then Kevin took a call which overshadowed everything. Stefan Kozlowski, MWG champion and the man we had built our plans around was out for 11 months with a ruptured patella.

MWG Masters of War 2016

GUBt1zX.jpg

Pre Show notes:

No issues backstage issues today. Maybe it's the improved morale from the random friends I hired or maybe the slap on the wrist I gave Cardoso last week really resonated.

raF2gS5.jpgZYMW3CI.jpg

The announcers, Mark Stanford and Dougie Horwood, are on the live mic hyping the show.

"Welcome to Mighty Wrestling Group: Masters of Pain." Begins Stanford.

"Yes, welcome." Continues Horwood. "We first have to address the big news. The MWG champion, Stefan Kozlowski seemed to be injured at the last show and we expect an announcement about the MWG Heavyweight Title tonight."

"Scott Van Den Berg will be in action tonight, defending his Intercontinental title against Pamplona's own Antonio Arias!" Says Stanford to loud applause from the audience.

"Our main event is Kalu Owusu against Wael Hossam, that is sure to be a great match."

"It certainly will." Agrees Stanford "But first, our tag team title match..."

Cardoso and Leopoldo stay in the ring to celebrate retaining their titles and are joined by Vita.

"Tonight, all three of my boys will be champions when Antonio Arias defeats Scott Van Der Berg for his Intercontinental Title." She stops to allow the crowd to cheer their hometown hero. "Last month I told you that Cardoso is the future of MWG but don't overlook Leopoldo and Arias, all three will be legends here. They are the 'Vitality' of MWG. Now, to some unsettled business; if you dare to face us again come out. I'm talking about you in the mask; 'El Gamberro' - 'the thug'. Come out here and face the tag team champions." The masked man appears with a mic alongside a man whose jawline and physique seem to have been chiseled from marble.

"I'm not going to fight any of you chumps but El Gamberro? I like it. Now, I'm due to be in a tag match with my mate Mark Adonis here so you better scram so these sweaty little Navarrans can see real men in action." Cardoso and Leopoldo refuse to move, shouting at Gamberro to fight one of them. Gamberro and Adonis enter the ring and suddenly attack laying out Cardoso and double teaming Leopoldo. The tag champs fight back but Adonis grabs Vita by the hair. Gamberro produces a bottle and moves to hit the writhing Vita but Leopoldo and Cardoso pull their manager free and the champions beat a hasty retreat.

Rating - 46

Not bad considering Gamberro and Adonis are starting with no popularity.

El Gamberro and Mark Adonis defeated Lion Genji and Murai Enamoto

gZZ1w5k.jpgnySwSMH.jpgvFjoIDLq.jpgi53g9yw.jpg

Gamberro and Adonis bully the Japanese debutants from the start and score an easy pitfall win in about ten minutes. The finish was Adonis tagging in Gamberro, DDTing Genji then taking the fight to Enamoto whilst Gamberro hit a springboard lariat for the three count.

Rating - 23

This did not go well; Genjji and Enamoto got penalised for being rusty and bad chemistry. Still, everyone's got to start somewhere.

The lights go off and a humming sound grows louder changing to a slow, discordant reggae song. The lights fade back in softly, flashing green, yellow then back off in sequence. Into this eerie scene steps Voodude. The lights are back on when Voodude makes it to the ring and he takes a mic and starts to speak slowly in his deep Jamaican accent:

"For too long I have been overlooked, trampled and disrespected. No more! I have called on the protector of my island and Nanny calls for a blood sacrifice, bring me the victim!"

A bear roar is heard and soft German rock plays as a large man with shaggy hair, a moustache and a fur coat takes up the challenge. He is announced as Werner Barenhaft from the Black Forest and he does not look at all intimidated by Voodude.

The match is a brawl which goes back and forth until Voodude gets out of the ring and walks to the back shouting "Not this one Nanny! Not this one!"

I hired Neal Fearn as a referee because he is friends with Matthew Macks but he is really bad, I hope he is not refereeing the main event.

Antonio Arias defeated Scott Van Den Berg after a Neck Wrecker to win the MWG Intercontinental Title

oRqX62W.jpgvEW6OBCj.jpg

The young hometown hero has the crowd at fever pitch as he runs rings around the 290lb Dutchman. Van Den Berg catches the challenger occasionally but can't keep him down and Arias finishes the match after putting the champion down with a slingblade variation he calls the Neck Wrecker. Arias is delighted with his win and sinks to his knees holding the belt. He is joined by Vita, Cardoso and Leopoldo and Vitality pose with all the belts.

The crowd is shocked by a surprise debut as former SWF and BHOWTG star Phillip "The Enforcer" Roberts arrives flanked by Kalu Owusu! There's a stunned mix of cheers and boos as Roberts begins to speak:

"I am Phillip Roberts and I have the honour of being the representative of your Heavyweight Champion; Stefan Kozlowski. Mr Kozlowski has retained me as his 'Championship Enforcer'. Now, I am sorry to start with some bad news, the rumours on social media are true, Mr Kozlowski is injured and will be out for at least 11 months." Roberts stops to glare at the fans as they cheer this news. "I do have some good news however, Mr Kozlowski will remain your MWG champion! The MWG championship belt represents proof that the holder is the absolute best MWG has to offer and Mr Kozlowski is still the best." Owusu looks very angry at this development and grabs Roberts shouting

"This was not the deal! The belt is supposed to be mine!" Roberts is saved by the appearance of Wael Hossam who is eager to get the match started. The bell rings and Roberts makes a sharp exit as Hossam and Owusu size each other up.

Rating - 71

This was a great segment despite the fact that Roberts' Enforcer gimmick bombed. I finally got around to Hossam's face turn and it went pretty well

Wael Hossam defeated Kalu Owusu via Camel Clutch

Oo2eX6C.jpgvNzeQWdr.jpg

Kalu was clearly outmatched against Hossam and constantly had to roll out of the ring to avoid submissions. Wael worked the lower back of Kalu but looked to have lost the match after Kalu hammered him with a series of blows and set up for his big lariat finish. Wael managed to duck the lariat and slapped on the Camel Clutch for an immediate tap out.

Rating - 73

What a great match, even with Fearn as a referee. Hossam is amazing, you can bet your life that i'll be making the most of him before he is signed by a big promotion.

MWG Know My Name 2016

Sunday, April Week 4

Plaza La Navarre. Attendance - 1000 (sell out)

raF2gS5.jpgZYMW3CI.jpg

Stanford: "Hello and welcome to Mighty Wrestling Group: Know my Name!"

Horwood: "Last month there was a despicable denouement as Philip Roberts struck Wael Hossam with a baton to hand Kalu Owusu the Intercontinental Title."

Stanford: "Despicable is right and I can't wait to see what repercussions they face. And here they come now." Generic music plays and out come Owusu and Roberts ready for the first bout. Owusu is clearly very proud of his new championship and he holds it aloft for all to see.

If you can imagine generic Dutch music then imagine it now because here comes Scott Van Den Berg, Owusu's tag team partner.

Stanford: "We know that Owusu and Van Den Berg are facing a team making their debut, now we get to find out who." Generic military music plays and out come Victor Beskov and Yuri Illakov.

Horwood: "The Red Devils are here in MWG!" The Devils get a good reaction from the crowd and walk right up to Owusu and Van Den Berg. The Dutchman looks annoyed but Owusu just stares back implacably.

The Red Devils v Kalu Owusu and Scott Van Den Berg

ufMKWxg.jpgmTG1lW5.jpgv NzeQWdr.jpgEW6OBCj.jpg

The bell rings and The Devils start out hot against Van Den Berg. Beskov and Illakov are a great team and their constant tags stop Van Den Berg from getting any sustained offence in. Eventually Owusu gets the tag and the mood changes. The fans are desperate for Owusu to get comeuppance for robbing Arias of the title but he is too big and too strong for the Devils. The Devils are tough though and wear him down to the point where the near falls are getting nearer and nearer. After a excruciating 2 9/10's count Owusu kicks out and Illakov picks him up into the suplex position as Beskov goes up to the top rope. From nowhere Roberts hits Beskov with the baton and Van Den Berg and Owusu double team Illakov with Owusu using the ropes to hold him down for the 1....2....3

Your winners; MWG Intercontinental Champion Kalu Owusu and Scott Van Der Berg!

Matthew Macks defeated Shane Hannighans via pinfall after a Red Lightning

An easy victory for Macks in a decent high spots match, Hannighans had no answer for Macks speed.

Gamberro and Adonis's theme hits (I told a local band to get as close to Up The Bracket by the Libertines as possible without breaching copyright). The two Englishmen swagger down the entrance ramp full of bulldog spirit (e.g. acting unreasonably and looking for a fight). Gamberro takes a mic:

"Vita! You are not giving us a title shot. Well that is no surprise; cowards don't like fighting tough guys. Don't worry, we'll get our chance and take those titles, believe me." Adonis takes over:

"Actually, Carbozo and Leopervo are the last thing on my mind tonight. I have been chosen for the Know my Name challenge match, tonight I become an instant legend!"

Stanford: We better explain what this match is.

Horwood: Right. The wrestler chosen for the Know my Name challenge can challenge any veteran non-champion on the roster.

Stanford: And what do they get if they win?

Horwood: $10,000 in cash and a title shot, for any belt, redeemable within the next 12 months.

Stanford: Is this how Adonis is planning to get his tag title shot? I can't wait to see who he challenges.

Whilst the announcers were explaining the rules, Adonis and El Gamberro had dragged Shane Hannigans back into the ring. Adonis holds Shane down as El Gamberro verbally assaults him.

"What's your name sunshine?" Shane mumbles and Gamberro slaps him. "Louder"

"Shane"

"Shane what?"

"Shane Hannigans"

"Shane Hannigans? Shenanigans? Are you taking the piss out of me? Where are you from?"

"Surrey, England"

"You are a disgrace to England, Shane. What, you thought you could get all these dirty Spaniards to like you by being funny? You're English so we're taking you under our wing but you need a proper name, have one ready for the next show. Now, get out of our ring." Shane stumbles to his feet but Gamberro puts him back down with a stiff lariat. Adonis drags Shane away and Gamberro awaits his opponent. The Spanish National Anthem hits to a large cheer from the crowd and here comes the hometown hero Antonio Arias.

Antonio Arias defeated El Gamberro via pinfall with a Neck Wrecker

oRqX62W.jpgvgZZ1w5k.jpg

El Gamberro talks a good game but he's rookie in the ring and is completely shown up by the more experienced Arias. He tries to grapple the hometown hero but Arias always slips away and hammers Gamberro with powerful and speedy offence. Gamberro is worn down and when he can barely stand he is finished off with a Neck Wrecker cutter.

Voodude defeated Murai Emamoto by referee stoppage

3tPWljp.jpgvi53g9yw.jpg

Enamoto looks focused waiting in the ring for Voodude, all month he had been tweeting about getting revenge for the vicious attack Voodude carried out on his friend Genji at the last show. Enamoto looks visibly shaken as Voodude makes his disturbing entrance accompanied by Genji! The match is over as a contest very quickly, Enamoto seems transfixed by the sight of his friend standing silently at ringside. Voodude has Enamoto beaten but once again he refuses to pin his opponent and once again the referee has to step in and stop the match to protect him.

Once the bell has rung to signal Voodudes victory he starts laying into the unconscious Enamoto trying to draw blood, Genji is helping too. They pick Enamoto up ready to throw him into the ring steps head first but are interrupted by Werner Barenhaft! The Bavarian wildman slams Genji into the side of the ring and goes after Voodude but he has already retreated up the ramp.

Adonis comes to the ring and challenges Barenhaft!

Stanford: "He's going to take on the Bearman!"

Horwood: "Strange choice if you ask me."

Werner Barenhaft defeated Mark Adonis via pinfall with a Bear Knee

c0Y5X1d.jpgvnySwSMH.jpg

The bell rings and Barenhaft quickly gains the advantage over Adonis. 'God's Gift' constantly rolls out of the ring to put a stop to the pummelling. This lasts for about ten minutes until Barenhaft hits a huge scoop slam and takes his fur covered knee pad off to hit the Bear Knee. Barenhaft covers the brash youngster for the 1-2-3. Adonis has failed the challenge.

Hossam comes to the ring to thunderous applause and cheering.

"People have been asking me all this month, 'what are you going to do about Owusu and Roberts?' I tell them; I am going to what I always do; get them the ring, tear their muscles from their bones and make them submit." Arjen, you are a great competitor and I'm here to test myself against the best. I can't wait for this, let's go!"

Arjen Van Der Leyne appears next, slowly walking down to the ring.

Stanford: "He is thinking through his game plan, focusing on how to execute each part of it." Van Der Leyne eventually enters the ring and the bell sounds to start the match.

Intercontinetal Title Number One Contenders Match

Wael Hossam v Arjen Van Der Leyne

Oo2eX6C.jpgvv9Gi3iJ.jpg

VDL's plan is immediately obvious; keep his distance and strike hard when Hossam tries to grapple. Hossam doesn't try to strike back and fails to get hold of VDL. One huge left hook from the Dutchman sends Hossam reeling back but he recovers in time to slap on an armbar and now the match is in Hossam territory. VDL breaks loose but not before Hossam has wrenched his arm half out of the socket. VDL's punches are slower now and Hossam can block and counter. Hossam hits a back cracker then flows smoothly into three German suplexes and before VDL can blink he is tapping out to the Camel Clutch.

Your winner and new number one contender for the Intercontinental title.....Wael Hossam

MWG Maximum Showdown 2016

Sunday, May Week 4

Plaza La Navarre. Attendance - 1000 (sell out)

vjYaPLK.jpgNzeQWdr.jpg2vLyWX5.jpg

Sirens and generic American cop music starts the show and out comes Phillip Roberts. He is joined by Kalu Owusu as always but also a very large man wearing a leather jacket and sunglasses.

raF2gS5.jpgZYMW3CI.jpg

Stanford: "Hello and welcome to Mighty Wrestling Group presents Maximum Showdown 2016. As you can see Phillip Roberts, the championship enforcer for our absent champion is here alongside the Intercontinental Champion."

Horwood: "Who is that behemoth with them?"

Stanford: "I think Roberts is about to tell us."

"As you all know I am Phillip Roberts, our Heavyweight champion - Stefan Kowlowski's championship enforcer. Now, you all must be thinking, who is this stud of a man standing before you....I just told you, I'm Phillip Roberts." Roberts and Owusu start laughing but the newcomer is not amused and slaps Roberts on the back to get him to get on with it. "Oh, right" he continues. "Allow me to introduce Stefan's brother...Karl Kozlowski!!"

Stanford: "Whaaaaatt?! Stefan has a brother?!"

Horwood: "He's twice the size of Stefan." Roberts continues.

"Now, Stefan thought that we might need a bit of extra help to see off Hossam so he has sent Double K here to..." Roberts is interupted by generic Russian military music and the Red Devils come out to the entrance ramp. "Karl, you stay here, Kalu and I will deal with idiots." Roberts and Owusu run towards the Devils and start brawling. Meanwhile a hooded figure sneaks into the ring, attacks Double K and puts him in a agonising looking armbar!

Stanford: "Who is that? He's going to rip his arm off!" Double K is frantically tapping the mat as Roberts and Owusu are losing the brawl against The Devils. The hooded figure releases the hold and reveals himself as Wael Hossam!

Stanford: "It's Hossam!"

Horwood: "I think he'll regret this." Double K retreats holding his injured right arm and is followed by Owusu and Roberts as Hossam and The Devils pose in the ring."

Van Den Berg leaves and Hannighans is joined in the ring by El Gamberro and Mark Adonis.

"Alright then." Begins Gamberro. "What have you got for us?" Hannighans shrugs, he doesn't know what Gamberro means. "Your new name. If you are going to join us you can't have a pisstake name like Shane Hannighans."

"I...I think i'll be ok by myself." Hannighans says nervously. Gamberro and Adonis are furious.

"Ok by yourself? When was the last time you won a match? You're running round with the stupidest name in the company, losing every match. When you lose, England lose and I'm sick of it." Gamberro starts shouting as the boos get louder. "We are from the greatest nation on earth and we need to start showing it!"

"Billy Carter" Offers Adonis.

"What's that?"

"Billy Carter. That's a proper name, we'll call him that." Gamberro smiles.

"I like it, come on then Billy, let's get you some new gear." Adonis holds 'Billy Carter' up and Gamberro knocks him out with a vicious lariat. They drag their new recruit out to the back.

Hossam comes to the ring with the Red Devils and takes a mic.

"Double K! Welcome to MWG! You might be shocked by my actions earlier but I needed to send a message. If you join Kowlowski's coalition to deny these fans a clean fight for the Heavyweight title I will stretch you beyond breaking point. I will humble you, I will make you beg for mercy and tap out until your hand is sore. It's not too late to do the right thing and let me face Owusu one on one for the IC Title. Once I have beaten him you can drag you brother out here so he can either hand the title over or fight me for it. I made a resoluti...." Roberts music hits and 'The Coalition' come to the ring.

"Hossam!" Begins Roberts. "You made a big mistake and now we are going to make you regret it."

Wael Hossam is on fire and almost wins the match via submission many times early on. Guided by Roberts the 'Coalition' show great teamwork and always break up the hold just in time. Eventually it becomes clear that Yuri Illakov is in over his head and as Hossam is grappling with Owusu and Van Der Leyne rams Beskov into the guard rail, Roberts hits Illakov with his baton and Kozlowski rolls him up using the tights for the win.

MWG Running of the Bulls 2016

Sunday, Week 4 July

Plaza La Navarre. Attendance - 1000 (sell out)

vjYaPLK.jpg2vLyWX5.jpgNzeQWdr.jpg

Owusu, Double K and Philip Roberts come to the ring to open the show.

"Hossam, you attacked me on my debut and I more than paid you back last week." Double K sneers. "You continue to cross us and more agony is in your future. However, there is a way out of this for you. Do two simple things and the pain will stop." Roberts takes over.

"First, lay down for Owusu tonight. That title is staying with the coalition one way or another, make it easy for yourself. Second; sign over half of your MWF earnings."

"Yeah, put your hand in your pocket." Interjects Double K to uproarious laughter from the Coalition. Roberts continues.

"If we are going to make sure you come to no harm it's only fair we get paid. That's the offer." All three shout at once.

"Take it or leave it!"

First Blood Match

Werner Barenhaft v Voodude

c0Y5X1d.jpgv3tPWljp.jpg

Barenhaft makes his entrance first dressed head to toe in fur.

Stanford: "He must be burning up in that get up!"

Horwood: "Look how focused he is though"

Voodude is out next, he walks slowly to the ring bathed in an eerie green light, his discordant entrance music giving everyone the creeps.

Barenhaft stands toe to toe with his opponent, utterly refusing to be intimidated. Then they go at it with fists flailing looking to draw first blood and win. Barenhaft takes control but instead of focusing on making Voodude bleed he tries to win a wrestling match. He wears Voodude down with suplexes and ground based holds but Voodude can't be pinned or submitted. Barenhaft eventually switches tactics and looks for a weapon to take out his weakened opponent but Voodude is way ahead of him and hits 'Bearlike' in the head with a viciously spiky looking pair of brass knuckles. Blood starts to pour from the head of Barenhaft and the referee calls for the bell.

Your winner: Voodude

Voodude decks the referee and Lion Genji takes out Enamoto when he tries to run in to make the save. Voodude goes to work on Barenhaft with the spiky knuckles and a pool of blood soon forms on the mat. Genji hands Voodude a bag a flour and the Jamaican starts spelling something out around the unconscious and bloody Barenhaft.

Stanford: "He's using the flour to spell something. It's mixing with the blood, that's disgusting!" Horwood remains in shocked silence. "What is he spelling!" Continues Stanford. "N-A-N"

Horwood: "Oh God, she's here I can feel it."

The lights shine bright, fade to green and then go out. When they come back on everyone is gone except Enamoto who is unconscious in the ring.

Red Devils v Scott Van Den Berg and Arjen Van Der Leyne

ufMKWxg.jpgmTG1lW5.jpgvEW6OBCj.jpgv9Gi3iJ.jpg

The Dutch duo are great brawlers and they look to see The Devils off early with devastating strikes. Beskov and Illakov manage to block and evade at first but soon Dutch punches and kicks start hitting home and the Devils are lucky to survive some very near falls. The Devils start aggresively grappling and it becomes clear that their tactic is working; the Dutch are getting tired. Van Den Berg kicks out of a superplex and a brainbuster but can't make the tag to Van Der Leyne and Beskov makes him tap out with the Red Devil Lock.

Next is a pre taped interview with El Gamberro and Adonis sitting in a bar in Pamplona watching preparations for the bull running. El Gamberro speaks first; "Cardoso. Leopoldo. You two mugs don't understand what trouble you are in. Last month you compared us to the tourists who jump these fences and get gored. You said that you are the bulls, proudly storming through the town, nothing getting in your way. I've got news for you amigos. Those bulls are being led to the bullring to be slaughtered and we, Adonis and I, are the bullfighters ready and waiting to stick a sword in your head." Gamberro waves a bottle around mimicking a bull fighter killing a bull. Adonis takes over

"You say you have Bull Spirit?! All I can smell is bullshit. We're harder than you, we're better than you, we're cleverer than you and we're taking your titles home to a Sovereign Nation."

"Ole!" Finishes Gamberro

MWG Tag Team Title Match: Vitality - Fernando Cardoso and Tino Leopoldo © v Sovereign Nation - El Gamberro and Mark Adonis

KdpJZws.jpgkZqXfLQ.jpgvgZZ1w5k.jpgnySwSMH.jpg

The challengers are out first, insulting the fans and swigging from beer bottles. Leopoldo and Cardoso appear next and they run down to the ring to attack Sovereign Nation as the bell rings. El Gamberro tries to out wrestle Leopoldo but the Italian is too quick and Vitality take control. Leopoldo and Cardoso make quick tags and stay on top of Gamberro until he is forced to tag in Adonis. Adonis has a bit more success, Vitality struggle against his strikes and quick suplexes but they once again use their speed to take control.

Weapons are conspicuous by their absence in this DQ match until the Brits pull out chairs from under the ring. Leopoldo drop kicks one into Adonis's face but gets wiped out from behind by a Gamberro chair shot. Gamberro instructs Carter to pass him a bottle, he does so reluctantly and holds back Vita as Gamberro bottles Cardoso then hits Swing Low Sweet Lariat for the win. Arias arrives to check on his bleeding teammates and Sovereign Nation grab the titles and high tail it out of there.

Hossam is backstage having his hand wrapped and is approached by the Red Devils.

"We can help you tonight, yes?" Asks Beskov. Hossam grimaces and shakes his head.

"Come on friend. You can't beat the Kozlowski's on your own." Says Illkov. Hossam shakes his head again.

"Especially with a broken hand." Insists Beskov. Hossam stands up and starts stretching.

"I can do this." He says and walks to the ring.

MWG Intercontinental Title Match: Kalu Owusu © v Wael Hossam

NzeQWdr.jpgvOo2eX6C.jpg

The competitors make their entrances and Hossam and Owusu stare at each other in the middle of the ring. Owusu smiles as Roberts and Double K make their way to ringside to lurk menacingly. The bell rings and Hossam immediately takes Owusu down. The Egyptian's grappling is peerless but with his broken hand he can't maintain a hold. Hossam has more success when he can use his arms and legs to put pressure on Owusu's joints but that champion is strong and always makes the ropes quickly to force a break. Chaos ensues when Double K distracts the referee and Roberts hits Hossam's injured hand with a small hammer he was carrying in his pocket. In response the Red Devils run down to ringside and brawl to the back with Double K and Roberts leaving Owusu and Hossam one on one.

The champion doesn't seem phased and starts to pepper Hossam with lefts and rights. The challenger is staggered and Owusu moves on to slams and lariats as he looks to beat the fight out of the Egyptian. Owusu starts to brutalise Hossam's broken hand and at one point he viciously stamps on it to leave Hossam writhing in agony. Hossam weathers the storm and starts to comeback at Owusu with low dropkicks and chop blocks. He continues to work the tree trunk legs of the Ivorian. With Owusu prone in the ring Hossam delivers a perfect moonsualt to the knees and rolls him into a figure four leglock. Owusu writhes to the ropes but can't stand up after Hossam breaks the hold. Hossam tries to lock on the Camel Clutch but he can't get the grip because of his injured hand and and Owusu breaks the hold. Owusu stuns the challenger with uppercuts and sets him up for the big finish, a series of hard lariats. He hits the first one but Hossam ducks the second, trips the champion and rolls him up for the 1....2....oh, Owusu just kicks out! Owusu does not have another plan so he goes for the lariats again. This time he hits two of them but on the third Hossam jumps up and wraps his legs around Owusu's outstretched arm. The momentum takes the champion over into a Crucifix Pin and the 1...2...3! The crowd erupts and Owusu desparingly rolls out of the ring. Wael Hossam is the MWF Intercontinental Champion!

I decided to read part 1 mostly because I saw Arutha and I share the same hometown! But really enjoyed following the years, it's always interesting to see game files that have lasted along time so seeing a diary start 19 years in is cool.

You're from Lancaster? I was born in Oldham so I knew I wanted him to be a Lancastrian and The Lancaster Bomber sounded like such a cool nickname.

Thanks for reading. I've been playing this save for at least four years so I wanted to tell some of the stories I came up with. Hopefully Hawke Jr. can make some impact in the wrestling world before the new game comes out and I start again with Hawke Sr.

Any predictions for the first Mighty Cup winner?

MWG Monsters of Wrestling 2016

Saturday, Week 4 August

Plaza La Navarre. Attendance - 1000 (sell out)

ZYMW3CI.jpgvjYaPLK.jpg2vLyWX5.jpgNzeQWdr.jpg

The show opens with Dougie Horwood in the ring. On a table next to him is a large trophy.

"If you heard my radio ad then you'll know what this is. If you did not then allow me to inform you. This is the Mighty Wrestling Cup and tonight begins a five month long single elimination tournament to crown the first winner. It's winner take all and the grand prize is this fine trophy and fifty....thousand....Euros." The crowd gasp then boo as the Kozlowski's music hits and Karl, Kalu and Philip Roberts come to the ring.

"Fifty thousand?" Asks Roberts

"That would more than cover the income lost by your capitulation last month Kalu." Says Karl, turning menacingly towards his teammate. Kalu doesn't back down.

"When you beat Hossam come back and talk to me. Until then get out of my face." Kalu pie faces Karl for good measure. The two Coalition members start throwing punches but Roberts manages to separate them.

"No, this is not the way." He shouts backing each man into opposite corners where they glare at each other. "You saw the bracket, we can't get a shot at Hossam until at least the final so forget about him for now. You're fighting the Red Devils tonight and we need to go and prepare." With that he drops the mic and marches Karl and Kalu out of the ring.

Mighty Cup First Round - Antonio Arias v Mark Adonis

oRqX62W.jpgvnySwSMH.jpg

This is a hot opener as Arias flies around the ring and hypes up the crowd. Adonis tries brawling, chain wrestling and a bit of high flying but nothing is particularly successful.

"Adonis is very talented." Notes Horwood. "But he needs to learn what he is really good at and stick to it."

Adonis manages to ground Arias and put him in a Full Nelson. With the vocal crowd urging him on Arias manages to slip out. He sweeps Adonis' legs and suplexes him. He climbs up to the top rope and hits a picture perfect Shooting Star Press for the win.

"He calls that the Pamplona Press and his hometown crowd are delighted that he's through to the next round." Says Horwood. Arias celebrates and leaves as the winner of the first ever Mighty Cup match.

Gamberro and Carter come to the ring, Gamberro consoles Adonis and helps him off the canvas. Adonis leaves the ring and the bell sounds for Gamberro v Carter. Carter stands stock still in the middle of the ring with a worried look on his face.

"Like we agreed Billy." Shouts Gamberro, Billy reluctantly nods in agreement. Gamberro goes onto the ring apron and springboards into the ring hitting a hard lariat which sends Carter crashing to the ground.

"Swing Low Sweet Lariat!" Exclaims Stanford.

"Carter just stood there and took it." Horwood adds.

Gamberro makes the cover and the referee counts 1...2...3! Gamberro advances.

Green light bathes the arena and Voodude's slow discordant reggae starts to play as he walks to the ring. He is joined by Lion Genji and a hooded figure. Once in the ring he removes the hood to reveal a man in a bear mask.

"The bear has joined the hunt." Booms Voodude.

"Barenhaft looks......different." says Stanford. Horwood maintains a stunned silence. Enamoto runs down to the ring but stops in his tracks when he sees Barenhaft. "It's like he doesn't recognise him." Stanford adds. Barenhaft suddenly grabs hold of Enamoto as Voodude puts on the spiked knuckles he used to defeat Barenhaft in last months First Blood Match. Enamoto wriggles away and sprints up the ramp to safety.

"Nanny wants you next!" Booms Voodude pointing a finger at the fleeing Enamoto.

Mighty Cup First Round - Barenhaft v Fernando Cardoso

Cardoso comes out to face Barenhaft but he doesn't stand a chance. He's intimidated by Voodude and Genji at ringside and Barenhaft is too strong and powerful for him. Cardoso manages to dodge the Bear Knee but stumbles and gets taken down by a vicious pounce from the muscular Barenhaft. The announcers call it the Bear Charge and it is enough to put Cardoso down for a three count.

The Red Devils v Karl Kozlowski and Kalu Owusu

ufMKWxg.jpgmTG1lW5.jpgv2vLyWX5.jpgNzeQWdr.jpg

It's clear from the outset of this match that Double K and Owusu have something to prove to one another. Double K starts the match and every time he hits a big move he looks over at his partner. Beskov forces Double K back into his own corner and Owusu tags in with a hard slap to Double K's chest. As the match goes on the Red Devils realise that the Kozlowski Coalition team are not on the same page and they manage to take control by using double team moves and quick tags. After a series of near falls for the Devils the Kozlowski team get it together and take the advantage by using their brute strength. Double K hits a running power slam on Beskov on the outside of the ring and Owusu sets about decapitating Illakov with lariats. Illakov survives three but collapses in a heap after the fourth and Owusu covers for the win. The winning team celebrate separately after the match.

Horwood: "Earlier today I spoke "The Dutch Master" Arjen Van Den Leyne and it almost didn't end well for me. Run the tape."

Horwood and Arjen are sat in a plain, white room. Arjen looks impatient.

Horwood: "Arjen, thank you for agreeing to this interview. You've had an amazing career, as an MMA competitor your kickboxing skills were without equal."

Arjen: "I was kickboxing world champion."

Horwood: "Then you retired from MMA in 2005 and spent some time in Japan before debuting here in MWG on the promotion's very first show in January 2014."

Arjen: "That's right, I beat Antonio Arias too."

Horwood: "Given your undoubted talent and your excellent record in singles matches in MWG; why do you think you are yet to hold a title in MWG?"

Arjen: "Did you know that I have never had a title shot in MWG? You are right, my singles record is very good. Six wins and three defeats and not a single title shot."

Horwood: "Your last singles match was in April when you were defeated by Wael Hossam, who is also your opponent tonight. Do you feel like Hossam has surpassed you." Arjen bristles at the question and starts to look quite angry,

Arjen: "No, he has not surpassed me. He is on a lucky winning streak. I will end that tonight. However, I do feel like I am not performing as well as I can. You saw the tag match last week?" Horwood nods. "My training partner, Scott Van Den Berg, is very sloppy, he lost us that match. Scott is here in MWG because of me and and if I don't win tonight he is out of here." Arjen is now visibly turning red and shifting in his seat.

Horwood: "And how do you intend to beat Hossam." Arjen lunges forward and grabs the lapels of Horwood's jacket.

Arjen: "I'm going to kick him in the head until he falls unconcious! Would you like a demonstration?!" Horwood screams and knocks the camera over as he flees from the furious Dutchman.

Mighty Cup First Round - Arjen Van Der Leyne v Wael Hossam

v9Gi3iJ.jpgvOo2eX6C.jpg

Van Der Leyne is out first, pacing the ring like a caged animal. Hossam is out second, his hand is still wrapped from the Kozlowski Coalition attack two months ago.

The bells rings and Arjen tries to put Hossam away early with vicious looking kicks. Hossam is sharp and agile and either slips the kicks or catches the leg to take the Dutchman down. Arjen gets angrier and angrier and peppers Hossam with flurry after flurry of blows. One kick hits Hossam's injured hand as he was defending his head and Hossam drops the hand in pain. Arjen follows up with a hard kick to the head which staggers Hossam. A second kick connects and sends Hossam to his kness but the wiley Egyptian catches a third kick and puts on a single leg crab forcing Arjen to scramble to the ropes.

The pattern of kicks and punches being countered by Hossam's grappling skills continues until Arjen once again catches Hossam's hand and once again follows up with two hard kicks to the head. This time however he lands the third and Hossam collapses onto the canvas. Arjen looks to grapple rather than going for the cover. He tries to get an armbar locked in but instead Hossam counters with a small package for the 1...2...3! Hossam advances to the next round and Arjen is even more furious.

News from Totalextremewrestling.com

MWG Exodus

The roster of minor European wrestling promotion, Mighty Wrestling Group looks a little bare after several workers were fired or left after their recent Monsters of Wrestling show.

Tino Leopoldo and Fernando Cardoso, who were very recent tag champions, were fired for their bad attitudes according to backstage reports. Announcer Mark Stanford was also released for the same reason and will be replaced by Steve Smith.

Both Dutch members of the MWG roster also left. Scott Van Den Berg was another victim of the backstage troublemaker cull and BHOTWG announced this week that Arjen Van Der Leyne has signed an exclusive contract.

Leopoldo and Van Den Berg were supposed to face off in the first round of MWG's inaugural Mighty Cup at the next event, it will be interesting to see how they deal with these departures.

Smith says. "We don't know how these guys wrestle but I can't wait to find out."</p><p> Mitico claps to get the crowd going and starts off with a head scissors takedown followed by an attempted armbar. Koller wriggles out of the hold and attempts to grapple. Mitico is quick and agile and Koller can't hold him for long. The German switches tactics and starts to attack the legs of Mitico to slow him down. This works for a while and Mitico starts to attempt more desperate offense. The Mexican knocks Koller off the apron and goes for a Tope Con Hilo but misses! Koller rolls him into the ring, puts him on his shoulders and hits the rolling senton followed by a superkick he calls the Hamburg Rock City for the win.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Rating - 55</strong></p><p> </p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46735" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p> <strong><span style="font-size:14px;">Campeonato del Mundo FEW Title - Champagne Lover v Roderick Remus ©</span></strong></p><p> <img alt="twqfUcS.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/twqfUcS.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><span>v</span><img alt="1vxMlPa.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/1vxMlPa.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> Champagne Lover comes to the ring first, he's not the tallest wrestler in the world but he oozes charisma and plenty of MWG fans were clearly won over by him immediately. Now the champion, Roderick Remus, comes out to a chorus of boos. The crowd know who he is and they do not like him.</p><p> They start with a lock up and when they break Remus slaps Lover hard in the face. Lover smiles and slaps Remus back.</p><p> "There is absolutely no respect between these two." Notes Horwood. </p><p> Remus tries to grapple to take control but Lover outwrestles him, he tries to brawl but Lover is stronger and better at striking, he then tries to use high flying moves but Lover is quicker. Completely outmatched, Remus tries to leave. Lover convinces the referee to stop counting Remus out and goes after the cowardly champion. Lover hits a delayed vertical suplex on the ramp way which causes Remus to hold his back in agony. Lover throws Remus back into the ring and slaps on the Champagne Breakfast....Remus immediately taps! Champagne Lover is champion after a very one sided affair.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Rating - 62</strong></p><p> </p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46735" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p> <img alt="2vLyWX5.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/2vLyWX5.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> Double K comes to the ring grinning from ear to ear. He reaches the ring and grabs a mic. </p><p> "It's just me tonight. My opponent was so scared about facing me that he flew thousands of miles to avoid the match. Now, what I need you (pointing at referee Neal Fearn) to do is raise my hand and declare me the winner." Fearn does so to a chorus of boos. "Shut up! I'm not finished. Hossam, you are a fraud and I'm going to prove it in the final of this tournament, if you get that far. Kalu Owusu, you need to know your place. You work for the Coalition, don't forget that or you will be out on your ear." Exclaims Smith as Ilakov makes his way to the ring. "Illakov, the Russian street fighter against the mammoth Ivorian, Kalu Owusu." </p><p> They stand toe to toe and we can see that Owusu has a significant size advantage.</p><p> "Illakov has his work cut out tonight." Says Horwood, stating the obvious. Suddenly all hell breaks loose as the competitors start trading heavy blows. Neither man is willing to back down but eventually Illakov drops to one knee. He is soon back up roaring in Owusu's face that he wants to go again. Owusu obliges and after another brutal exchange of blows Illkov is knocked down. Owusu drags him up and hits a big suplex in the middle of the ring. He covers but Illakov kicks out at two. Illakov starts working over Owusu's body with lefts, rights and kicks. He has the Ivorian staggered with a drop kick but when he tries to follow up with a suplex he cannot lift the bigger man. Illakov goes to work on the body again but then makes a big mistake as he Irish Whips Owusu to the ropes, Owusu counters with a devastatingly accurate running lariat and Illakov is rocked. Owusu hits another, and another and the fourth lariat sends Illakov crumpling down to the canvas. </p><p> "He collapsed like an accordion!" Shouts Horwood and Owusu covers for the 1...2...3</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Rating - 50</strong></p><p> </p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46735" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p> <strong><span style="font-size:14px;">Wael Hossam and Antonio Arias v Sovereign Nation</span></strong></p><p> <img alt="Oo2eX6C.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Oo2eX6C.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="oRqX62W.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/oRqX62W.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><span>v</span><img alt="gZZ1w5k.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/gZZ1w5k.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="nySwSMH.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/nySwSMH.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> Sovereign Nation swagger to the ring first. If we could afford licensed music they'd be coming out to Oasis but as things are it's some generic rock we found on the internet. Arias is out next followed by Hossam. Nation waste no time in attacking their opponents before the bell rings.</p><p> Once the referee manages to calm the situation down Adonis starts off in the ring with Arias. Nation make quick tags and manage to isolate Arias by attacking Hossam on the apron and choking and eye gouging Arias while the ref is distracted. Gamberro runs through a series of holds designed to wear Arias down and Adonis tags in to deliver some high impact offense. Ten minutes in and Hossam is yet to get into the match. Arias is fighting hard but is kicking out of covers later and later. Finally with his last reserves of energy he bodyslams Gamberro and hits a running bulldog DDT on Adonis. He crawls over to his corner and the crowd erupts as Hossam tags in. Hossam immediately puts Adonis in an armbar but 'Gods Gift' scrambles to the ropes to force the break. Gamberro eats a back fist and a slingblade but rolls out of the Camel Clutch. He tags in Adonis but he's exhausted and Hossam quickly ties him up into a painful looking figure four. Gamberro comes in to break the hold but gets put in the Camel Clutch! Hossam is close to his corner and he breaks the hold long enough to tag Arias. Hossam reaplies the clutch and Arias hits a picture perfect Pamplona Press and covers for the 1...2...3!</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Rating - 61</strong></p><p> </p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> <strong>Show Rating - 56</strong></p>

That's right. There is also an ale called Lancaster Bomber but never tried it actually. It's a better name for a wrestler than an ale anyway!

I'll go with Barenhaft as that's a badass render.

It's incredible isn't it. Full credit goes to King Bison for that one.

How in the Hell did you get Champagne Lover?!

I bought out FEW and pillaged the Mexican guys who debuted on the last show. God knows how long i'll get to keep him for. He only works in Mexico and now Europe so he only company that could sign him on a written is MPWF who are international level.

There was more big news in September; we hit Regional and signed a TV deal so the next show will be the very first episode of the Mighty Wrestling Hour.
