NYCW: The Ultimate Throwback

I too wouldn’t have said you needed a format change and I did like the bullet points (not that I didn’t like the new write up) The blue background looks nice but I’m not a fan of blue on blue. For my eyes that is harder to read. Black on blue or something else on blue?

NYCW April Creative Meeting

HXSuquI.jpgCk3d93F.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/KJgaKKY.jpg

The wrestling world seemed to have been overcome with a dose of April madness! The biggest news of the month was the bidding war surrounding one of SWF's biggest babyfaces – Valiant. After offers from all of the major players, it was eventually announced that
Valiant had signed for SOTBPW
. This was a huge coup for the Mexican promotion, and a real blow to the Eisen empire. Who would the SWF turn to to fill the large hole Valiant had left at the top of their card. One man who they wouldn't turn to was Eddie Peak, who signed with SWF's rivals USPW. A further blow to TCW's already decimated Main Event scene.

Up in Canada,
NOTBPW continued their hiring spree
as they took the plunge and brought in Marc DuBois. It will be interesting to see how the former 'Can't Miss Prospect' fits into the NOTBPW product, having previously worked for the Eisen's Sports Entertainment giant. North Of The Border also continued their CGC raid, as they brought in CGC Main Eventer Thrill Seeker. CGC responded by making three signings of their own. Mark Griffin, Californian Love Machine and Molokai Milk to fill some of the holes in their depleted roster.

Speaking of depleted rosters, things look dire for GCG in Japan.
The promotion released no fewer than 21 of their workers in one day.
The Far East promotion is rumoured to be struggling with high levels of debt, and after this move many are wondering whether the promotion is long for this world.

With all this madness going on around us, April was a relatively quiet month for NYCW. We won March's Regional Battle thanks to the excellent Main Event between Art Reed and Harry Allen. Unfortunately 'March Madness' had been an expensive show, and for the first time in months we made a small loss. It was only $48, but Larry still gave me a hard time about it. Mostly because he could. Crockett Tubbs had officially left the company now, leaving a big hole in my tag division. The Fighting Irish were planned to win the belts in June, so I would have to completely rethink my plans for the tag division. Finding a new high level face team was something very high on my To Do list...

I definitely wouldn't have said you needed a change in format, but actually, I really liked that. The colour is a great way to differentiate matches and angles, and I think the new-style match write-ups rather than bullet points are slightly easier to read.

Great show, as always!

Thanks both! I like the blue and white to differentiate angles and matches, but I might play around with text colour to Theheel's point and see if I can improve on that. If there's any other feedback from anyone let me know!

NYCW Presents Spring Showdown

Live from Pennsylvania Park

Saturday W2 April 2017

Last month Art Reed warned Bulldozer Brandon Smith to 'keep his nose out of his business', but the Big Heavyweight brawler appeared after “The Pure Athlete's” Main Event victory over Harry Allen to warn of any potential post-match attack. The NYCW Empire Champion did not take take kindly to this interruption, and this month the two face off in a blockbuster Main Event. These two men know each other well, having faced off three times in the past year – once in New York and twice with PGHW in Japan. Art Reed seems to have the Bulldozer's number, with three submission victories thanks to his feared Dread Lock. Can the Bulldozer find a way to do something nobody else has and break the Dread Lock, or will Art Reed's unbeaten streak roll on?

The man Art Reed defeated in last months Main Event is also back in action. Having heard The Ring Generals Open Challenge before his match at 'March Madness', Harry Allen made the call to his long time friend and tag team partner 'Ford Gumble'. Although The Young Guns haven't been seen since 2009, when they were one of worlds premier tag teams, the former World Tag Team Champions arrive with enormous pedigree – Winning four TCW Cruiserweight Tag Team Titles and a TCW World Tag Team Title run during a seven year run. The Ring Generals are former COTT World Tag Team Champions themselves, but surely face their sternest test yet in The Young Guns. Who will come out on top in this battle of former World Tag Team Champions?

With Crockett Tubbs leaving to join NOTBPW, Conner Threepwood finds himself needing to carve out a new niche in NYCW. At 'Spring Showdown' he gets an immediate opportunity to show his talent as a singles competitor as the former Fighting Irishman challenges the unbeaten Prisoner No. 6 for the NYCW Tri-State Regional Title.

Should Prisoner No. 6 get through Conner Threepwood, he will have his eye on Jebediah's match with fellow inmate, Justice Jolson. Set up by Prisoner No. 6's therapist, Doctor O'Haire, if Jebediah is able to defeat Justice then he will earn himself one final chance to challenge Prisoner No. 6 for his Tri-State Regional Title. However, should the Amish brawler come up short then Jebediah will be unable to ever challenge Prisoner No. 6 for his title again. Can Jebediah earn himself one last shot at the gold, or will Justice prevail?

Elsewhere on the card, Man Mountain Cahill faces off against The Aces of Mayhem in a handicap contest, and Steve Falsh will be in action against fellow veteran The Masked Mauler. Be sure not to miss it!

Bulldozer Brandon Smith vs “The Pure Athlete” Art Reed ©

[NYCW Empire Title Match]Art has been on a hell of a run but I think it is winding down. I don’t see him dropping the belt here, but I do see Smith eventually getting the best of him. I’ll go with Reed having to cheat or have interference p/distraction from Honest Frank or the big reaper Scythe

The Young Guns (Harry Allen & Ford Gumble) vs The Ring Generals w/ Haley Buck

[The Ring Generals Open Challenge Match]

If you could take the Young Guns of 5-7 years ago and put them in here, this would have been a hell of a match. Unfortunately, The Old Guns (especially Gumble) have been spending time at Menapause Manor

Conner Threepwood vs Prisoner No. 6 © w/ Doctor O'Haire

[NYCW Tri-State Regional Title Match]

Man loses his partner and then thrown to an angry inmate. Tough month or so for Threepwood

Jebediah vs Justice Jolson

[if Jebediah win's he earns Tri-State Regional Title shot. If he loses he can't challenge Prisoner No. 6 again.]

Jeb’s challenge doesn’t end here, so if the stip is believed he must prevail

The Aces Of Mayhem vs Man Mountain Cahill

[Handicap Match]Cahill continues his bullying, but aren’t bullies supposed to lose in today’s world. Picking on the undersized tag team is not doing the tag team any good either. I see Cahill getting a big feud coming up, with another big man that will stand up to his bullying. I know your watching Jeb

Steve Flash vs The Masked Mauler

Not much can be said here. When was the last time Mauler won a singles match? It won’t be on this night

Brooklyn's Finest vs The Canadian Connection

The job squad does what they do best, lay down

[The Ring Generals Open Challenge Match]</p><p>

I'm taking a gamble here. I don't know how many other choices you really have for 'top' babyface tag teams you can just plop in from the sky. Harry Allen should still be able to hold up for a little while even if Ford Grumble has essentially become what the vehicle is...found on road dead. But this might be the choice for who comes in, who takes the tag titles, and who inevitably transitions the tag title straps back to the Ring Generals.</p><p> </p><p>

Maybe a DQ? Maybe? Jolson's really green and matches like this might help.(I don't know how many dark matches if any you put him in to sharpen his skills up) But I think you go with Jebediah here. Maybe Animal Harker ends up returning later and helps Jeb even the odds at the end of the day.</p><p> </p><p>

The Aces Of Mayhem vs <strong>Man Mountain Cahill</strong></p><p>

[Handicap Match]</p><p>

They can knock him off his feet but they're going to lose. There's some things to be had where he can bully other midcard workers and it you might discover the right money match.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Steve Flash</strong> vs The Masked Mauler</p><p>

...It's Steve Flash. Maybe he's the one who gets in MMC's crosshairs instead? I dunno.</p><p> </p><p>

Canadian Connection gets a win after impressing in some underneath singles that showcase their talent even if they weren't getting Ws. Brooklyn's Finest are hell'a green.</p>

NYCW Spring Showdown

Live from Pennsylvania Park

Saturday, Week 2, April 2017

Audience: 2,000 (SELL OUT!)

Announce Team:

Rock Downpour & Ernie Turner

Rock Downpour
and
Ernie Turner
welcome us to Spring Showdown. Rock Downpour hypes tonight's blockbuster Main Event between Art Reed and Bulldozer Brandon Smith for the NYCW Empire Title. Tensions between these two men have risen over the past few weeks following Smith interfering in Art Reed's post match attack on Steve Flash back at 'Battle For New York'. The Bulldozer has set out to 'clean up' NYCW, but will the unbeaten “Pure Athlete” prove too much for the Big Heavyweight tonight?

Steve Flash [vs] The Masked Mauler

We opened the show with a contest between two men who had shared the ring a number of times over the years, and that familiarity showed through in their performance. The two men used their combined nearly sixty years of in-ring experience to put together an entertaining opening contest. The finish came when Steve Flash was able to hit the Flash Bang to secure the victory.

Rating: C-

Winner:
Steve Flash

Finish:
Pinfall (Flash Bang)

Notes: Steve Flash & The Masked Mauler have great chemistry and it showed in their performances.

</div>

Rock Downpour: “Another good win for Steve Flash, he's really starting to build back some momentum after a tough few months over the new year.”

Ernie Turner: “2016 was a great year for Steve Flash – he won his first World Heavyweight Championship and his fourth Empire Title at 51 years old. When he lost them both in successive months there was some questions whether he could bounce back at this stage of his career, but he looks to be right back to his best! Could we see another title run in 2017?”

Rock Downpour: “We'll have to wait and see Ernie!”

Martyr To The Cause

Involved: Art Reed & Bulldozer Brandon Smith

The NYCW Empire Champion was out next, and “The Pure Athlete” did not look happy. Art Reed tells the crowd that he had warned Brandon Smith to stay out of his business, but the Bulldozer hadn't heeded that warning. Reed reminded the crowd that last month, after his victory in the Main Event, Smith had once again 'stuck his nose' into Reed's business and appeared from behind the curtain to interrupt Reed's celebration.

“The Pure Athlete” tells Brandon Smith that he doesn't care if Smith wants to 'clean up' NYCW, as long as he stays out of the champion's way. Reed then warns the Bulldozer that if he doesn't, he'll happily make the Big Heavyweight a martyr for his cause. Art Reed reminds Bulldozer that they've met three times in the past year, and whether it's been in New York or Japan the outcome has always been the same. Because Art Reed tells the crowd that it doesn't matter how big they are, once the Dread Lock has been applied – they all tap!

@miller_fforde [vs] “The Dark Reaper” Scythe w/ Honest Frank

@miller_fforde was out first for this one, accompanied – much to the chagrin of Rock Downpour on commentary – by Doctor O'Haire (who was, as always, wearing his patients NYCW Tri-State Regional Title belt around his waist). O'Haire joined the commentary team for this one, and explained that Fforde's Instagram following had tripled after he uploaded the footage of his match with Prisoner No. 6 last month. Fforde had requested another match with the inmate, but unfortunately O'Haire's patient already had a match tonight, so the good Doctor had arranged this match for the young instagrammer.

“The Dark Reaper” was out next, accompanied as always by Honest Frank. @miller_fforde was incredibly excited by Scythe's entrance, climbing the turnbuckle to try and get the best angle of the scythe “The Dark Reaper” carried to the ring. @miller_fforde must have got some great footage of him being thrown around the ring during this one. No more so than at the finish, which saw Scythe hoist the young vlogger over seven feet into the air before delivering a devastating Chokeslam.

Rating: D

Winner:
“The Dark Reaper” Scythe

Finish:
Pinfall (Chokeslam)

Notes: @miller_fforde was really off his game tonight.

</div>

Rock Downpour: “Another dominant display from Honest Frank's “Dark Reaper”.”

Doctor O'Haire: “I think both men will come out of that match very happy.”

Rock Downpour: “What on earth are you talking about?”

Doctor O'Haire: “It's fairly obvious. A big win for Scythe and Fforde gets some fantastic new footage for the 'gram.”

Rock Downpour: “You really are a piece of work aren't you...”

<div style="background-color:#3361FF;color:darkblue;border-style:solid;border-width:3px;box-shadow: #3393FF; margin:10px;background: #FFFFFF; max-width:60%;box-shadow: 0 6px 12px ";">

Bulldozer with the save

Involved: Honest Frank, Scythe, @miller_fforde & Bulldozer Brandon Smith

After the bell, Honest Frank slid into the ring and crouched over the fallen @miller_fforde. Frank looked inquisitively at the Go-Pro camera attached to the youngsters head. Frank kicked the camera, before turning to Scythe and laughing. Frank then indicated to his “Dark Reaper” to pull Fforde up and deliver another devastating Chokeslam!

Luckily for Fforde, Bulldozer Brandon Smith came tearing out from the back to make the save and clear the ring. Honest Frank grabbed a microphone on his way to the back, and called back to Brandon Smith that he would never face the Bulldozer in the ring again, and that was “The Honest Truth”!

Conner Threepwood [vs] Prisoner No. 6 © w/ Doctor O'Haire & Justice Jolson

NYCW Tri-State Regional Title

Having lost his tag team partner last month, this match was a difficult introduction to life as a singles competitor in NYCW for Conner Threepwood. Prisoner No. 6 is unbeaten since joining NYCW in January 2016, and a win tonight would make him the longest reigning Tri-State Regional Champion in NYCW history. A fact that Doctor O'Haire constantly reminded us on commentary.

Threepwood used his technical skill to attempt to nullify the huge power advantage that Prisoner No. 6 had over the lightweight, but he was soon overrun by the inmate. Vicious strikes from the Tri-State Regional champion broke Threepwood's defences, and Prisoner No. 6 was able to hit the Jail Break to set the record for the longest reigning Tri-State Regional reign in NYCW history!

Rating: C

Winner:
Prisoner No. 6

Finish:
Pinfall (Jail Break)

Notes: Prisoner #6 makes defence number 8 of his NYCW Tri-State Regional title.

</div>

Rock Downpour: “Another violent display from your patient Doctor, how do you think the treatments going?”

Doctor O'Haire: “I think the success of the treatment speaks for itself. Prisoner No. 6 arrived in NYCW as a violent inmate that the world had locked away and given up on. Now, he is the most successful NYCW Tri-State Regional champion in the companies history. He has been a functioning part of the roster for 16 months. More than functioning in fact, thriving!”

Rock Downpour: “And his frequent violent outbursts don't worry you?”

Doctor O'Haire: “Look around you Rock. Does my prisoner really stand out? Are his actions any worse than those of Man Mountain Cahill, or of the NYCW Empire champion Art Reed? The world is changing Rock, not everything is black and white.”

Rock Downpour: “Yeah NYCW is changing, but it seemed to start right around when you and your prisoner arrived here.”

Doctor O'Haire: (Removing his headset) “Perhaps, but maybe this quaint, outdated promotion needed a little push to bring it kicking and screaming into the 21st Century?”

The Aces Of Mayhem (Ace Youngblood & Max Mayhem) [vs] Man Mountain Cahill

It's not often that the competitor on the wrong side of a two on one handicap match goes into the contest as the favourite, but after Man Mountain Cahill's demolition of Brooklyn's Finest last month it could be argued that the Big Heavyweight was the favourite tonight. Many men would have been intimidated facing across from the Man Mountain, but the Aces of Mayhem didn't back down and inch and came flying out of the blocks in this one. The tag team utilised the same high/low tactic they used to save Brooklyn's Finest from a post show attack last month, with Max Mayhem taking Cahill down at the knees while Ace Youngblood went high with a leaping Tomahawk Chop. With the Man Mountain down, Youngblood and Mayhem swarmed the Big Heavyweight with stomps and elbows.

However, the Man Mountain was able to battle back to one knee and began to swat away his advancing opponents. The Aces Of Mayhem were able to stop Cahill from getting back to a vertical base though, and a second Tomahawk Chop from Youngblood sent the Man Mountain back to the mat! Cahill powered out at two though, and was quickly back to a knee as Mayhem and Youngblood battled to keep him from regaining a vertical base. Mayhem charged at Cahill, looking to deliver a Running Knee to knock the Big Heavyweight back to the mat. However, the Man Mountain was able to use his power to swat Mayhem back first into the corner turnbuckle. Mayhem hit the turnbuckle hard and crumpled to mat down and out, leaving Ace Youngblood one on one with the Man Mountain.

Youngblood scrambled, knowing he had to stop Cahill getting back to his feet. Youngblood began reigning punches down on Cahill, who was still on one knee, but the Man Mountain showed his power as he was able to get his legs underneath him to drive Youngblood up into a modified Spinebuster take down that drove the wind from Ace Youngblood. The Native American battled back to his feet, and charged the Man Mountain but ran straight into a Big Boot. Youngblood refused to stay down and charged Cahill again, but a Mountain Topper gave Cahill the win in this one.

Rating: D+

Winner:
Man Mountain Cahill

Finish:
Pinfall (Mountain Topper)

Notes: Man Mountain Cahill carried the match in terms of in-ring performance.

</div>

Ernie Turner: “Man Mountain Cahill was always going to be a toughie, but the Aces Of Mayhem gave a good account of themselves tonight!”

Rock Downpour: “The turning point of the match was Cahill taking out Max Mayhem. Up until that point The Aces Of Mayhem had looked every bit the favourites to win that one. However, despite a spirited effort from Ace Youngblood, once it went to one-on-one it was always going to be a tough task.”

<div style="background-color:#3361FF;color:darkblue;border-style:solid;border-width:3px;box-shadow: #3393FF; margin:10px;background: #FFFFFF; max-width:60%;box-shadow: 0 6px 12px ";">

Living To Fight Another Day

Involved: Man Mountain Cahill & The Aces Of Mayhem

Ace Youngblood crawled slowly across and attempted to rouse his partner Max Mayhem as Man Mountain Cahill had his arm raised in victory. The crowd knew what was coming as Cahill wheeled around to stare down the defeated Aces Of Mayhem. Ace Youngblood battled back to his feet and put his hands up, a clear sign to Cahill that he wasn't done. Next to him Max Mayhem used the ropes to slowly stand alongside his partner.

Cahill stared down at the Aces of Mayhem, before letting out his big booming laugh and turning to head to the back. Max Mayhem immediately slumped back to the mat, as Ace Youngblood leaned against the ropes and watched Cahill stomping to the back looking very confused.

Segment Rating: B

</div>

Rock Downpour: “What was that all about?”

Ernie Turner: “I don't know Rocky, but the Aces Of Mayhem just dodged a massive bullet tonight. Cahill must have thought he'd already proved his point.”

Jebediah w/ Animal Harker [vs] Justice Jolson w/ Doctor O'Haire & Prisoner No. 6

Animal Harker made a surprise return having missed the past two shows with injury to join his former tag team partner at ringside. Justice Jolson for his part came down with both Doctor O'Haire (wearing Prisoner No. 6's title belt as always) and Prisoner No. 6.

This was a classic contest between two Big Heavyweight behemoths. There wasn't much in the way of technical wrestling, but plenty of powerful striking from both men. Neither man was really taken off his feet during the contest, but it could be argued that Jebediah had slightly better of the early exchanges.

The turning point of theispaghula when Prisoner No. 6 decided he wanted to get involved in the match. The Tri-State Regional champion pulled himself onto the apron, but didn't see Animal Harker running around the outside of the ring. Harker got to Prisoner No. 6 as he was staring down Jebediah from the apron, and pulled the feet from under the inmate! Prisoner No. 6 hit the floor on the outside of the ring hard, much to the anger of Doctor O'Haire. The doctors anger distracted Justice Jolson long enough for Jebediah to take the Big Heavyweight off his feet with a big Lariat. One Sundown Splash later and Jebediah had booked himself a Tri-State Regional title match for 'Brooklyn Bash'.

Rating: D-

Winner:
Jebediah

Finish:
Pinfall (Sundown Splash)

</div>

Rock Downpour: “Jebediah does it! Jebediah vs Prisoner No. 6 for the Tri-State Regional title next month at Brooklyn Bash!”

Ernie Turner: “He had Animal Harker watching his back tonight, but you've got to think the Doctor and his inmates will be ready for Harker next month!”

<div style="background-color:#3361FF;color:darkblue;border-style:solid;border-width:3px;box-shadow: #3393FF; margin:10px;background: #FFFFFF; max-width:60%;box-shadow: 0 6px 12px ";">

See you next month!

Involved: Jebediah, Prisoner No. 6 & Doctor O'Haire

A furious Doctor O'Haire demands a microphone after the bell. He tells Jebediah that he may have earned a title shot next month, but that his match with Prisoner No. 6 would end the same way as his last two attempts. O'Haire reminds Jebediah that Prisoner No. 6 is the longest reigning NYCW Tri-State Regional title in the companies history, and that he didn't plan to give up HIS belt easily!

O'Haire then turns his attention to Animal Harker. He admits that he wasn't willing to risk Harker assaulting his patients again next month, so he offered Harker a match with Justice Jolson – with the stipulation that the loser would be banned from ringside for the Tri-State Regional title match later than night! Animal Harker agreed and that match is set for next month, Doctor O'Haire grinned as he ushered his patients to the back.

Segment Rating: C+

</div>

Rock Downpour: “An interesting stipulation from Doctor O'Haire there, considering Jebediah's last two title challenges were ended after interference by himself and then Justice Jolson...”

Ernie Turner: “He's not used to his patients losing Rocky! He's rattled and not thinking straight! If Harker can find a way to beat Justice next month, that would be a huge blow to Prisoner No. 6's hopes of extending his record reign!”

Rock Downpour: “But as Doctor O'Haire just said Ernie, he's not going to let go of his belt easily...”

Brooklyn's Finest (Hawkeye Calhoun & Freedom Eagle) [vs] The Canadian Connection (Philippe LaGrenier & Hugh Ancrie)

This match showcased two of the young, upcoming teams in NYCW. The Canadian Connection were yet to win as a team in NYCW, but had both put in impressive performances in losing efforts against established stars in recent weeks. This was an open, back and forth contest, but it was the young Canadians who were slowly able to take control. The finish came when Philippe LaGrenier was able to hit his Quebec Arrow (Falcon Arrow) finisher on Hawkeye Calhoun for the three.

Rating: E+

Winners:
The Canadian Connect

Finish:
Pinfall (Quebec Arrow)

Ernie Turner: “A big first win for The Canadian Connection tonight! Are we looking at the future of the NYCW tag division?”

Rock Downpour: “They've certainly turned a few heads with their performances in recent weeks, but haven't been able to turn performances into victories. They've changed that tonight, I think we can expect to see much more from these two going forwards!”

Answering The Challenge!

Involved: Haley Buck, The Ring Generals & The Young Guns

Haley Buck and The Ring Generals make their way to the ring for this months iteration of The Ring Generals Open Challenge. Buck announces that following the success of last months first ever 'International Open Challenge', she had once again scoured the globe for another pair of 'worthy' challengers...

However before Haley Buck can introduce her challengers, The Young Guns (Harry Allen & Ford Gumble) appear from behind the curtain. Haley Buck looks furious, as Harry Allen explains that he'd heard Haley Buck at the end of 'March Madness' asking for any team who thought they could beat The Ring Generals to step up. Harry Allen had made the call to his old friend and long time tag partner, Ford Gumble, and they were here tonight to answer The Ring Generals Open Challenge! The crowd cheered as Haley Buck and her clients looked furious at the interruption. Haley Buck looked around wildly, as if searching for someone to tell her that The Young Guns weren't eligible, but no help came and we had a match!

Rock Downpour: “Now this is what an Open Challenge is all about. Anybody can show up!”

Ernie Turner: “And look who's shown up Rocky! Harry Allen & Ford Gumble are former TCW World Tag Team Champions, as well as four time TCW Cruiserweight Tag Team Champions! These guys are one of the best teams in the world!”

Rock Downpour: “Let's not forget that The Ring Generals are former World Tag Team Champions as well. This should be a hell of a match!”

The Young Guns (Harry Allen & Ford Gumble) [vs] The Ring Generals (Dean Waldorf & Marv Statler) w/ Haley Buck

The Ring Generals Open Challenge Match

The Ring Generals did not look happy at having to face a team the calibre of The Young Guns on such short notice, but such is the danger of an Open Challenge! This seemed to affect Waldorf & Statler in the early stages of the match as they struggled to get going, and The Young Guns (and Harry Allen in particular) took control of the early exchanges.

The Ring Generals weren't former COTT World Tag Team Champions for nothing though, an were slowly able to work their way back into the match. They were able to isolate Ford Gumble in their corner and began to work on the arm and shoulder of the veteran. Harry Allen was left stewing on the apron for nearly five minutes as Ford Gumble was unable to breakaway from The Ring Generals, but a mistake from Marv Statler allowed Gumble to make the hot tag and Harry Allen hit the ring and began to clean house. Allen hit Clotheslines on both members of the Ring Generals, before the “Cowboy” signalled to the crowd and dumped Dean Waldorf to the outside.

With Marv Statler now one on one with Harry Allen, Haley Buck looked worried on the outside. The Ring Generals manager hopped up onto the apron to assist her team, much to the worry of Rock Downpour on commentary. Haley Buck had injured her shoulder from this position back at 'Rush Hour' after a collision with Mutant. Apparently not seeing his manager, Statler whipped Harry Allen into the ropes towards Buck! Rock Downpour was having kittens on commentary, as Harry Allen desperately scrambled to put the brakes on and stopped himself barely an inch in front of a flinching Haley Buck. As Harry Allen checked on Haley Buck, Marv Statler surprised the “Cowboy” by rolling him up from behind. The shock factor proved enough for Marv Statler to force Allen's shoulders down just long enough to get the three.

Rating: C-

Winners:
The Ring Generals

Finish:
Pinfall (Flash Roll Up)

Notes: Ford Gumble was the weak link, struggling to keep up with everyone else's in-ring performance.

</div>

Ernie Turner: “What was Haley Buck doing up on the apron again after what happened at 'Rush Hour'?”

Rock Downpour: “I don't know Ernie, I'm just glad Harry Allen was able to put the brakes on in time!”

Ernie Turner: “An opportunistic win for The Ring Generals, but that is a matchup I wouldn't mind seeing again!”

“Bulldozer” Brandon Smith [vs] “The Pure Athlete” Art Reed ©

NYCW Empire Title Match

Next up was our Main Event. Art Reed came into this match with the psychological advantage, these two men have already done battle in 2017 in Japan in a match that ended with Brandon Smith tapping to Reed's unbreakable Dread Lock. Reed also came in with the knowledge that he had never been pinned or made to submit since arriving in New York ten months ago.

This match started at a very high intensity, with both men laying in with violent strikes and Suplexes perfected during their time in Japan. Bulldozer Brandon Smith rounded out a whirlwind opening five minutes with an impressive spin-out Spinebuster. Sensing the Bulldozer was building some momentum, Art Reed slid to the outside to recuperate. Smith made the mistake of following Reed, who was playing possum a little and delivered a Drop Toe Hold, dropping Smith into the steel guard rail. With Smith struggling after his collision with the guard rail, Art Reed surprised everyone by locking in the Dread Lock outside of the ring! The referee began his five count as Reed was outside of the ring, but Brandon Smith was tapping out by the time referee Matthew White had reached three. While the submission didn't count as it was outside the ring, the Dread Lock had clearly done a lot of damage to the Bulldozer.

“The Pure Athlete” struggled to roll the dead-weight of his much larger opponent back into the ring, and by the time he had managed it Smith had recovered enough to kick out of the subsequent pinning attempt at two. A frustrated Reed tried to reapply the Dread Lock now that they were back in the ring, but Bulldozer was too close to the ropes and broke the hold. Smith was still hurt though, and Reed stalked his opponent as Smith slowly pulled himself up with the ropes and turned right into a Super Kick from Reed... that the Bulldozer caught! Reed begged Smith for mercy, but the Bulldozer quickly transitioned into a vicious Fishermans Suplex. Reed bounced back to his feet, but was immediately hoisted up into the air by Bulldozer Brandon Smith. “The Pure Athlete” was held up there for 10... 20... 30... 40 seconds! Before Brandon Smith brought him down to the mat with a thud. The Bulldozer was rolling now, and ducked an attempted Super kick before pulling an off balance Art Reed into a devastating Backdrop Driver. Smith fell into the cover and Matthew White counted the three to condemn Art Reed to his first defeat in NYCW!

Rating: B

Winner:
Bulldozer Brandon Smith

Finish:
Pinfall (Backdrop Driver)

Notes: Bulldozer Brandon Smith wins the NYCW Empire title.

Ernie Turner: “Brandon Smith has done it! Brandon Smith has done it! He's NYCW Empire Champion!”

Rock Downpour: “Brandon Smith has won his first NYCW Empire Title after six years in New York! And in doing so he has become the first man to defeat Art Reed in NYCW. What a night for the Bulldozer!”

Championship Celebration!

Involved: Bulldozer Brandon Smith

The crowd popped as Bulldozer Brandon Smith climbed the turnbuckle and held his newly won NYCW Empire Title high above his head. Smith had tasted success in MAW, where he won both the Mid Atlantic Championship and the Rip Chord Invitational, and in Japan where he had won the BCG Challenger Series, but after six years in New York this was his first NYCW Empire Title win.

The rest of the babyfaces flooded out from the locker room to celebrate with the Bulldozer. Jebediah and Animal Harker hoisted the Big Heavyweight up on to their shoulders and the babyfaces celebrated the moment with the crowd.

Segment Rating: B-

</div>

Ernie Turner: “What a moment for Bulldozer Brandon Smith, six years in the making! But I've got to wonder, what does this mean for Art Reed? Or will it be “The Dark Reaper” Scythe who steps up? What about the veterans Honest Frank or Steve Flash? Or even the bully, Man Mountain Cahill?”

Rock Downpour: “Brandon Smith can enjoy tonight, but come next month he will have a large target on his back! Join us then to find out who the Bulldozers first challenger will be!”

Have to admit I wasn’t thinking Smith would take the title this month. I had gone back and saw Reed’s time in NYCW wasn’t quite at 1 year. I assumed that Reed had been signed to a 1 year deal since he is on the wrong side of 40. I was counting on the 2nd title match would be the one that ended Reed’s run.

Who will be next? Cahill and Smith have battled early last year and Smith came out on top. But the Man Mountain has been on a bullying role. Of course we could get Honest Frank and his charge getting in line as well. By the end of the year, I predict Prisoner #6 will be the one to take down the Bulldozer.

The Ring Generals have proven that they are the best tag team in the World. So they should once again take the COTT World Tag Team Titles.

And so where is Riley? He seems to have disappeared

And so where is Riley? He seems to have disappeared

So I will openly admit that was the original plan. Bulldozer was going to lose this one through Frank getting involved, then deal with Frank and win the title in the rematch. However, Art Reed went back on tour with PGHW this month (Smith didn't for some reason) and within the first week had two news articles about his physical condition. One was the 'Iron Man' one which in my experience means they're about to break, so I decided to jump early before PGHW injured my champion. If Smith had been touring as well I'd have held off, but I was worried about Reed getting injured and not getting the chance to bump BBS from the Upper Midcard to the Main Event. In-game the switch has worked - BBS is now solidly in my Main Event, and the prestige of the Empire title is up to 100.

There's lots of people lining up to challenge! Prisoner No. 6 is now the only unbeaten wrestler left in NYCW after Art Reed's loss, so wouldn't be a bad bet! Of course you've got former champions Art Reed and Steve Flash to throw into the mix as well! ;)

Reed is 42 now and has 2 months left on his deal. He's only just entered time decline, so I'm thinking of giving him another year, but need to think of something new for him to do. He's a machine though - he's been involved in all of my top 7 matches in this save, so I need to find something for him to do! The only worry is his physical condition with all of his tours in Japan.

They're certainly getting there. They've beaten American, Canadian and Japanese teams so far, so still a few areas to go! I'm sure they'll have their lines on recapturing the World Tag Team titles again and maybe even the NYCW Tag Titles as well? But for now, who knows who will show up for the Open Challenge next show...

Don't worry, Riley is still on the roster. Losing his love for the 90's has hit Riley pretty hard, and he needed some time to get over that loss. I'm sure he'll be back very soon though, although maybe sans the nostalgic tee shirts.

(Dozer has been doing a great job, but he’s gotta finish his feud with Honest Frank before he wins the Empire title.)

Honestly, this is probably the match up that dethrones Art later in the story but not now. Brandon has too much on his plate.

I covered off why I made the switch slightly prematurely in my post above (I was worried about Reed getting injured). Reed is 42 years old, and while only just in time decline has been on tour constantly since the game began. If Reed now gets through the next few months healthy I'll be a little annoyed i jumped the gun on the story, but I thought it would be better to be safe than sorry.

(I’m not a fan of the Man Mountain, but I guess you’ve gotta keep him strong.)

[Handicap Match]

Cahill is becoming a bit of an issue for me. He's too over to get beaten by most, and other than BBS (who has already beaten him once) there's only one or two guys on the roster I'd consider feeding him to. His beat up angles (menace) keep him waaay more over than anyone else and get great ratings even beating up midcarders. He also has creative control which is an issue. There's three months left on his deal I think, so I'll see if I can get him back to a more 'normal' contract, otherwise his time might be up.

The Young Guns (Harry Allen & Ford Gumble) vs The Ring Generals w/ Haley Buck (The aging cowboys might be more popular, but the team that beats the Generals has to feud with them for months afterwards. Their build had been that good. And I don’t see broken-down Ford Gumble sticking around for too long.)

I'm taking a gamble here. I don't know how many other choices you really have for 'top' babyface tag teams you can just plop in from the sky. Harry Allen should still be able to hold up for a little while even if Ford Grumble has essentially become what the vehicle is...found on road dead. But this might be the choice for who comes in, who takes the tag titles, and who inevitably transitions the tag title straps back to the Ring Generals.

Glad you're enjoying the build James! :) You're correct though SISer187, finding a new top face team is proving difficult! There is an option I'm toying with, but they don't quite fit. I did consider extending The Young Guns stay, but they kicked up such a fuss about losing to my most over team I think they'd be 'too over' to slot into the main division.

Jebediah vs Justice Jolson

[if Jebediah win's he earns Tri-State Regional Title shot. If he loses he can't challenge Prisoner No. 6 again.]

Maybe a DQ? Maybe? Jolson's really green and matches like this might help.(I don't know how many dark matches if any you put him in to sharpen his skills up) But I think you go with Jebediah here. Maybe Animal Harker ends up returning later and helps Jeb even the odds at the end of the day.

You called Animal Harker's return! Justice Jolson is still really green, he's only had one other match in the dark - which is probably an error on my side.

Prediction Contest - Fourth Round Results

A big thank you to everyone who took the time to read and predict this month! There were lots of interesting comments in the predictions, and it was interesting to see where everyone thinks this is going. I always enjoy seeing everyones thoughts and reading your comments on my booking, it really does help keep this fun for me - so thank you.

After last months easy show, 'Spring Showdown' seemed harder to predict with no perfect scores. Theheel was this months winner with a score of six. Nobody picked Bulldozer Brandon Smith's title win, which is fair enough when you consider that wasn't the original plan going in. Theheel and jameschaos now have a two point lead in the preditcion contest, but there's still a long way to go until Gang Wars! Hope to see you all back next show!

Prediction Results after 'Spring Showdown'

3 points = jameschaos & Theheel

1 point = 1PW Fan, Historian, Jaded, Shifty425 & SIser187

This round of predictions will run until 'Gang Wars' (July in game), so there are still 3 more shows to go. I hope to see you all back for predictions on 'Brooklyn Bash'.

I tend to try to avoid hiring cruiserweight styled wrestlers at the top of the card for NYCW just to play some variation of realistic to it. I could see the company having some lower on the card but not at the tippy top. But it might just be me for flavor text. I tend to have more use for Harry Allen in USPW games actually because he can work lower mid and bump for some of the monsters well enough still.

But Ford...yeah, poor ol Ford Grumble. What could've been for him. Now he's a punchline.

NYCW May Creative Meeting

HXSuquI.jpgCk3d93F.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/KJgaKKY.jpg

The talk of the US independent scene this month was Hustle Muvva's sensational move from IPW to GSW. The former two-time IPW Champion shocked GSW fans by crossing the divide in the war between the two gangster promotions. Nemesis was said to be furious with Hustle Muvva, and this was seen as the next step in the ongoing war between the two promotions.

In Canada Marc DuBois was already causing issues backstage in his first month at NOTBPW. The former “Can't Miss Prospect” always represented a risk, but many are surprised at just how quickly DuBois had started acting up after almost three years away from the business.

Closer to home, NYCW were coming off the back of a great month. For the first time since I had taken over as booker, the promotion had won back to back Regional Battles. I would have thought this may have tempered Larry's anger, but if anything it only made him worse. All Larry could talk about this meeting was “going to war”. Steve and I did everything we could to talk him out of it, but Larry told me I had to “do something big” to piss off Mitch Naess or we'd be at war next month. I told Larry to leave things to me, if we were going to do this I wanted to at least make sure I was on the front foot... I guess it was time to start playing dirty.

The other issue of bringing in the Guns is that you'd then be saddled with Ford Gumble ;)

Haha, poor Ford! From World Tag Team champion to the butt of everyones joke. Quite a fall!

The grumbling you mentioned is one of the reasons I don’t often bring in Harry Allen or the Young Guns. They always end up unhappy

Yeah, I knew I was in trouble when Harry Allen complained about losing to Art Reed - my most over wrestler and champion. The Young Guns just seem a bit too over for the Indy scene, but not quite over enough for the big leagues.

Young Guns should come in three month bursts. Work some talented rookies with no pop, get to win all the matches, cycle on out. Next cycle they come in on, they job to some of your top guys, cycle on out. Third cycle, they come in and beat some rookies. So on and so forth.

That's a great way to book them. They still have 'name value', particularly Allen, so are an automatic threat to any Regional tag division. Slowly bleed their overness until they are too old/too unpopular for it to be worth it.

I tend to try to avoid hiring cruiserweight styled wrestlers at the top of the card for NYCW just to play some variation of realistic to it. I would tend to agree with you. Middleweight technicians and Big Heavyweight brawlers are how I see NYCW's Main Event. You don't have to look too closely at my roster to see which guys I'm looking at as my next batch of Main Eventers.

NYCW Presents Brooklyn Bash

Live from Pennsylvania Park

Saturday W2 May 2017

'Spring Showdown' saw fan favourite Bulldozer Brandon Smith break Art Reed's unbeaten streak in New York and become NYCW Empire Champion for the first time. Having waited six years to become Empire Champion, the Bulldozer heads into his first title defence not knowing who the first challenger for his title will be. There are a number of men lining up for a title shot, so the Bulldozer will have to have eyes in the back of his head.

Two matches surrounding the Tri-State Regional Title were booked last month at 'Spring Showdown'. Jebediah was able to successfully defeat Justice Jolson to earn a third shot at Prisoner No. 6. The Amish brawler has had Prisoner No. 6 in trouble in both of their previous encounters, but outside interference has cost Jebediah on both occassions. With this in mind a second match was made at 'Spring Showdown' – Jebediah's friend and former tag partner Animal Harker will face off against Prisoner No. 6's fellow inmate Justice Jolson with the stipulation that the loser of this match will be banned from ringside for the Tri-State Regional title match later in the night, which given the finishes of Jebediah and Prisoner No. 6's past two encounters could prove a huge turning point for whoever's partner wins.

Elsewhere on the card, Art Reed looks to bounce back from the disappointment of losing his NYCW Empire Title in a match with Conner Threepwood. The Ring Generals will also continue their quest to prove themselves as the best tag team in the world, as they face off against the Mexican duo of The Luna Twins. It promises to be a fantastic night of wrestling, so be sure not to miss out!

Might be a big name but it's a big name to put over your new big champion.

Jebediah vs Prisoner No. 6 © w/ Doctor O'Haire

[NYCW Tri-State Regional Title Match]

Honestly, I think it's time for the big Prisoner to move up a level and Jebediah's a strong enough option to anchor the middle of the card.

The Luna Twins (Luna Clara & Luna Oscura) vs The Ring Generals w/ Haley Buck

[The Ring Generals Open Challenge Match]

I kind of want Haley Buck to cut a promo about how ridiculous the masks are. She's money.

Animal Harker vs Justice Jolson

[Loser is barred from ringside for the Tri-State Regional Title match later in the night.]

Jolson is green.

Steve Flash vs Howlin' Mad Mort

Flash develops the hoss a little bit but wins.

@miller_fforde vs Whitehorse Whittaker

#AerialVictory

I'd take Art over Conner. Maybe Art's slumping a little and it goes a touch longer than anticipated for a proper technical masterclass. Or you want to protect Art and it's a shorter match considering his Japan commitments. But Art wins.

[NYCW Empire Title Match]

I’m sure it will be an interesting top Indy guy coming in for the match with an after victory mauling by Scythe and Frank beat him down

Jebediah vs Prisoner No. 6 © w/ Doctor O'Haire

[NYCW Tri-State Regional Title Match]

Time for the Doc to lose his belt and the Prisoner rot move up. Just my fantasy booking would be that the Prisoner takes a month off, for reprogramming as the Doc states he has let him get too soft. Then he comes back even more violent than previous to build for an Empire title match

The Luna Twins (Luna Clara & Luna Oscura) vs The Ring Generals w/ Haley Buck

[The Ring Generals Open Challenge Match]

I agree Haley has brought so excitement to the vanilla Generals. She needs an open live mic

Animal Harker vs Justice Jolson

[Loser is barred from ringside for the Tri-State Regional Title match later in the night.]This match is complex to me. On paper Harker should be head and shoulders over Jolson who is just so green. But in my mind, traditional heel booking suggests that Jolson should get a tainted win to put the babyface Jeb have to overcome higher odds in taking down the prison bully. I’m going with traditional heel booking to call Jolson getting some sort of victory, DQ, CO something so that he is at ringside, putting more peril and doubt for the a Jeb match.

Steve Flash vs Howlin' Mad Mort

So both tag team members of the NYCW champs are in solo matches. Is this to maybe build to see a new team of Flash and Miller over for a title shot? Or we just didn’t have a meaningful tag team to give the champs.

@miller_fforde vs Whitehorse Whittaker

Of the 2 matches with the tag team members this one is a tougher match to call because I’m not sold on Miller Fforde. Does it damage the tag team to have both members lose on the same show? Fforde has lost 2 matches against the monsters of NYCW so he could use a win or he is going to become equal to Brooklyn’s Finest

I didn’t see this match listed but, I’ll go with Art Reed over Connor Threepwood

You NEED to build up another two or three teams (depending on how trashed The Aces of Mayhem's momentum is) but I'm not convinced The Luna Twins fit here

Involved: Bulldozer Brandon Smith, Honest Frank & Scythe</span></div></div><p></p><p></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><div style="text-align:left;"><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">Bulldozer Brandon Smith heads out to open the show, proudly showing off his new title belt to the fans. Smith tells the fans that winning the NYCW Empire Title last month at 'Spring Showdown' was the proudest moment of his career. The Bulldozer said that it was an honour to finally be the man holding the Empire Title, but he also knew that meant that he now had a big target painted on his back, because everybody would be gunning for his title... but none more so than Honest Frank. Bulldozer reminded us that he had told Frank months ago that he would find a way to make him stop hiding and 'come out and play', and now that he was Empire Champion Smith thinks he has found it!</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

This draws Honest Frank and his “Dark Reaper” out from the back. Frank tells Brandon Smith that he knows what Smith's doing, and it won't work! However, when the new champ reminds Frank that a win would put Honest Frank back on top of the all time list, with five Empire Title reigns, Frank's facade faulters. The former self-proclaimed 'Greatest NYCW Empire Champion of All Time' admitted that the Bulldozer made an excellent point and looked up at his “Dark Reaper”, Frank turned back to the Bulldozer with a glint in his eyes and said that he'd had a change of heart... but that he would only agree to fight Smith if it was on Frank's terms...</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The Bulldozer cut across Frank and reminded his rival that HE had all the bargaining power now. Smith had the title, and if Frank wanted it he would have to face Smith inside a Steel Cage! The crowd popped and the glint momentarily disappeared from Frank's eyes. Honest Frank, so used to being one step ahead of his rivals, was not used to being dictated to. He took a few moments to compose himself, before telling Brandon Smith that he would accept his challenge on TWO conditions:</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

1. That the match takes place in two months at 'Gang Wars', a year to the day since Honest Frank lost his fourth NYCW Empire Title, and a fitting stage for Honest Frank's crowning triumph.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

2. That Bulldozer Brandon Smith face an opponent of Honest Frank's choosing... tonight!</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Bulldozer Brandon Smith looked down at Honest Frank and his “Dark Reaper”, and told Frank that his demon didn't scare him. The Bulldozer accepted Honest Frank's terms and told him he would see him at 'Gang Wars', before turning to Scythe and saying he would see him later tonight! The glint had returned to Honest Frank's eyes as he told Brandon Smith that was “if he even made it to Gang Wars”, before reminding the champion that Honest Frank was always one step ahead and that was the “Honest Truth”</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Doctor O'Haire accompanies Justice Jolson to ringside for this one, wearing around his waist (as always) his patients Tri-State Regional Title belt. This match potentially had a huge bearing on the future of that belt, as the loser would be barred from ringside in the title match between Prisoner No. 6 & Jebediah later tonight. Doctor O'Haire looked very confident as he joined the commentary team for this one, much to the annoyance of Rock Downpour.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Justice Jolson started the match strongly, with the Big Heavyweight using his size and strength advantage to throw the smaller Animal Harker around the ring. Harker fought gamely, mostly relying on stiff strikes he had mastered in Japan, but the size and power difference just proved too much. Harker looked in real trouble as Jolson hoisted the Light Heavyweight up onto his shoulder for his finisher The Death Penalty (a big Running Powerslam), but Harker was able to surprise his opponent by slipping out the back. Not wasting a moment, Harker rolled Jolson up and the element of surprise proved enough to keep the big mans shoulders down for the three!</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Doctor O'Haire couldn't believe what he had seen, his trump card was now banned from ringside for the title match! Animal Harker celebrated in the ring, but as the referee raised his arm Harker was turned around and hoisted over Jolson's shoulder for The Death Penalty. Not content with his work, Jolson pushed Harker out of the ring with his boot before hoisting the limp Light Heavyweight over his shoulder and carrying him to the back!</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The Tri-Statre Regional Title match is up next, and on commentary Doctor O'Haire reminds us that his patient, Prisoner No. 6, is now the longest reigning NYCW Tri-State Regional Title holder in NYCW history! A pumped up Jebediah headed down to the ring, clearly not happy with Doctor O'Haire and Justice Jolson's treatment of his friend Animal Harker. </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The two big men start throwing heavy right hands right from the bell. There wasn't a lot of technical holds on this one, but the two men did hammer away at each other with powerful right hands. A powerful Clothesline from Prisoner No. 6 staggered Jebediah, but the Amish brawler was able to hold his feet. Similarly a headbutt from Jebediah rocked Prisoner No. 6, but the inmate stayed standing. It was the 6'11 Jebediah who was the first man down to a knee, as Prisoner No. 6 wore him down with repeated strikes. Jebediah was able to fight back though, and had Prisoner No. 6 down to a knee with another vicious looking headbutt.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Both men were breathing hard now, but neither was giving an inch. Heavy right hands were still flying from both men, and it was Prisoner No. 6 (still undefeted in 16 months in NYCW) who looked to be gaining the advantage. A hard elbow strike was followed up with another big Clothesline that dropped the big Amish brawler to a knee. Prisoner No. 6 stepped in and looked to deliver a big Belly-To-Belly Suplex on his opponent, however the challenger blocked the Suplex attempt and with Prisoner No. 6 at close quarters was able to deliver a third big Headbutt to the champion. With Prisoner No. 6 shaken, Jebediah was able to bounce of the ropes and finally take the inmate off his feet with a leaping Clothesline. With Prisoner No. 6 finally down, Jebediah was able to deliver his Sundown Splash! The simple Amish brawler fell into the cover and, much to the shock and anger of Doctor O'Haire on commentary, referee Matthew White counted the three and condemned the doctors patient to his first pinfall loss in New York.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

O'Haire made it about two steps, before a hooded fan jumped over the barricade behind O'Haire and grabbed the Doctor from behind. Much to the delight of the crowd, the 'fan' forcibly removed the belt from around Doctor O'Haire's waist and slid into the ring to hand it to Jebediah.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</span><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><strong>Ernie Turner:</strong></span><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"> “Doctor O'Haire is not happy Rocky, he loved that belt! </span><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><strong>Rock Downpour:</strong></span><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"> “We'll see some reaction from the Doctor for sure – this is the first time since he's arrived in NYCW that things haven't gone his way. Howlin' Mad Mort definitely had the size advantage in this one, but you don't go through a 32-year career without working out how to fight against big men. Mad Mort may have had some success early on, but the longer the bout went the more Steve Flash's experience came into play. If Haley Buck had set this match up to give her clients a nice, easy victory, she would have been somewhat surprised by the young Mexicans showing here. The twin brothers showed an almost psychic understanding of each others thoughts which made them very fluid and easy on the eyes, but also allowed them to perform some fantastic double team moves on The Ring Generals. The Ring Generals grew visibly frustrated at this, used to their teamwork and understanding far outweighing their opponents in their tag matches. The Luna Twins were giving The Ring Generals a really good contest, until an attempted Handspring Back Elbow from Luna Oscura was caught in the corner by Dean Waldorf. Waldorf tipped his smaller opponent over the top rope to the floor outside. This left Luna Clara two on one with Statler and Waldorf, and the Ring Generals were able to deliver the Wheelbarrow Bomb to pick up a surprisingly hard fought victory.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

@miller_fforde is out next, and Ernie Turner tells us that footage from his contest last month with Scythe has seen followers of his @miller_fforde handle nearly double in the past month! So this match has once again been set up by Doctor O'Haire, at the request of the young Instagrammer as Fforde looks to continue to drive up his online presence. </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Doctor O'Haire, perhaps still smarting from losing his patients NYCW Tri-State Regional Title earlier in the evening, is not at ringside for this one. Instead he has sent another of his patients, one half of the tag team champions – Whitehorse Whittaker. If being thrown around the ring and slammed to the mat makes for good footage, then @miller_fforde's next Instagram post could well be his best yet! Fforde struggled to make much offence, as Whittaker beat his opponent down. Late in the match Fforde headed up to the top rope (you get all the best footage from up there!), but was swatted out of the air by Whittaker on the way down. From here it was simple for the lumberjack to hit his Canadian Stun Gun and pick up the victory.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“The Pure Athlete” was out first, and the former NYCW Empire champion did not look happy after losing his title and undefeated streak last month. Threepwood was always going to be in for a tough night as Art Reed looked to bounce back from his first loss and show it was just a blip. Threepwood did show off his technical prowess in the early stages, going hold for hold with “The Pure Athlete”, but a picture perfect Drop Kick from Art Reed was all it took to turn the tide in the former champions favour. Reed followed up with a Belly-To-Belly Suplex and a Double Arm DDT that stunned Threepwood. This left him vulnerable and Art Reed wasted no time in locking in his feared Dread Lock. Nobody breaks out of the Dread Lock, and Conner Threepwood had no choice but to tap out.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><div style="text-align:left;"><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">Immediately post-match, an angry Art Reed grabs a microphone and told the crowd that regardless of what happened last month, “The Pure Athlete” was still the best wrestler in New York. Reed told us that he had a major announcement about the rematch he was due for the NYCW Empire Title. As a former champion he was automatically due a rematch for the title, but Art Reed would not be taking it!</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

A confused murmur went around the building, as Art Reed explained that at this stage of his career it wasn't a second NYCW Empire Title that he craved. Reed said he'd been wrestling for sixteen years, and in that time he'd achieved everything he'd dreamed of doing as a kid. He'd won titles, he'd toured Japan (on multiple occassions), and he'd even won the East-Coast wars with DAVE. He'd done it all.... except for one thing. That one dream he hadn't quite managed – to be World Heavyweight Champion. So Art Reed had spoken to the NYCW booking committee and they had told him that the COTT World Heavyweight Champion would be visiting New York in August, and Art Reed had forfeited his guaranteed rematch for the NYCW Empire Title for a shot at becoming World Champion for the first time!</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

This drew Steve Flash out from the back. The 50-year-old reminded Art Reed that he </div><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>was</em></div><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span><div style="margin-left:25px;"> a former COTT World Heavyweight Champion, and that he had never received his rematch when he had lost the belt – so if anyone should be taking on the COTT World Heavyweight Champion when he visited in August it should be Steve Flash! Art Reed didn't take kindly to this interruption, so Flash offered him a compromise: next month at 'Big Apple Brawl' it would be Art Reed vs Steve Flash, and the winner would go on to challenge for the COTT World Heavyweight Championship in August! Art Reed grinned and accepted Flash's challenge, telling the 50-year-old that he had made Flash tap three times before and he would be happy to do so again... because once the Dread Lock is applied, everyone taps!</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Ernest Youngman was a familiar name to most Tri-State wrestling fans as the current reigning PSW Champion. Rock Downpour and Ernie Turner were shocked on commentary, as they had assumed (much like the crowd) that Honest Frank would choose his “Dark Reaper” Scythe to face the Bulldozer. Honest Frank always has a trick up his sleeve, but even for him this was a big one! Bulldozer Brandon Smith had a significant size advantage over his opponent, but Ernest Youngman was a Muscular Middleweight and combined with his extremely strong mat skills he was able to live with his larger opponent. These two men beat the hell out of each other, with violent strikes and slams traded between both men. Both men were starting to get tired, with Smith in particular being worn down by Youngman's mat skills. Smith was finally able to create some seperation, but Youngman didn't give the Empire champion a moment as he looked to land The Hit (The Pounce). Fortunately for Brandon Smith, his bulk saved him as Ernest Youngman took as much damage from the move as his larger opponent. Youngman was eventually able to crawl into the cover, but enough time had passed to allow Smith to recover and kick out at two.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

With both men on there last legs, they slowly battled back to their feet and began trading right hands in the middle of the ring. After a while the extra weight and power behind Smith's punches began to take their toll and Youngman crashed to the mat. the Bulldozer time to recover, Youngman hopped back to his feet and charged at his opponent... right into a Big Boot. Youngman struggled back to his feet, but walked straight into a Backdrop Driver from the champion. An exhausted Bulldozer Brandon Smith fell into the cover, and Matthew White counted the three.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><div style="text-align:left;"><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">Bulldozer Brandon Smith may have won the match, but he had pushed him to the very limits of his endurance... a fact that hadn't eluded Honest Frank and his “Dark Reaper” Scythe. Honest Frank's surprise opponent may not have won the title, but he had done his job and softened up the Bulldozer. Frank and Scythe quickly made their way to the ring and stood over an exhausted Brandon Smith. The NYCW Empire champion didn't back down and looked to strike the first blow, but a fresh Scythe was able to overpower the Bulldozer fairly quickly before delivering a ring shaking Chokeslam on the Empire champion. 'Brooklyn Bash' ended with Honest Frank picking up Bulldozer Brandon Smith's Empire title belt and looking at it longingly, before draping it over the fallen champion and telling him he wouldn't make it to 'Gang Wars'</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">
