NYCW: The Ultimate Throwback

NYCW pre 'Carnage In Queens' Creative Meeting

August had been a great month for NYCW, 'Uptown Beatdown' had been our best show of the year and had contained our two best matches of the year. The only negative I'd had to deal with in August was the release of
Geoff Borne
. It was unfortunate, and I did feel bad as I was partly to blame for how I handled the incident with Andrew Harper. The aftermath of that incident had really rocked the locker room, and while I'd really wanted to make it up to Geoff Borne his attitude over the past few months had been terrible. I didn't mind him being mad at me (I probably deserved it to a point), but he had let it affect his work in the ring and that was unacceptable. It left me in a difficult position of what to do with his partner The New York Doll, who may end up an innocent victim in all of this as without his partner I had very little for him to do. That was a problem for next month though.

The big talking point from the wrestling world this month came from up north, as the Canadian wrestling industry was shaken by the fall of NOTBPW. According to TotalExtremeWrestling.com, the former powerhouse was now rated a 'Cult' level promotion. Unlike the US wrestling industry, which was booming on the back of the war between USPW & the SWF, the Canadian industry was in the toilet. It remained to be seen if NOTBPW could bounce back from this.

Larry bordered on pleasant during this months Creative Meeting. I'm sure it wouldn't last for long, but I enjoyed it while I could. He really didn't have anything to complain about this month though, we'd put on our best show of the year and turned a $4,130 profit for August. He didn't even bat an eyelid when I told him I was adding two new hires to the roster. I could feel that we were in a good place, long may it continue!

NYCW Presents Carnage In Queens

Live from Pennsylvania Park

Saturday W2 September 2016

'Carnage in Queens' looks to be a fitting description for this months offering from NYCW. Our blockbuster Main Event sees two veterans of the sport facing off for the NYCW Empire Title. COTT World Heavyweight Champion & NYCW Empire Title holder Steve Flash looks to continue the biggest year of his 31 year career as he faces former DAVE & PGHW standout Art Reed. Reed has been a standout performer all over the world for well over a decade, but since joining NYCW has shown a previously unseen mean streak. Will this new attitude, alongside his feared Dread lock, be enough to take Reed all the way to NYCW Empire Title gold, or will Steve Flash's 'golden year' continue?

In the words of commentator Ernie Turner, last month Honest Frank 'signed his own death warrant' as he cost Bulldozer Brandon Smith his match with Art Reed. However, Frank always has a trick or two up his sleeve. Can Honest Frank outwit Brandon Smith, or will be Bulldozer continue destroying everything in his path?

The Fighting Irish looked to have the NYCW Tag Team Title won last month, until an attack from The Boys of Yukon cut their title challenge short and left the Fighting Irish layed out on the mat. Conner Threepwood and Crockett Tubbs are looking for revenge this month as they face their attackers in tag team action.

Another man looking for revenge is Ace Youngblood. His tag team partner, Max Mayhem, was brutally assaulted after his title match with Prisoner No. 6 at 'Uptown Beatdown'. This month Ace Youngblood challenges for the Tri-State Regional Title, looking to avenge what Prisoner No. 6 did to his partner a month ago.

NYCW also welcomes back Animal Harker, who has spent the past few months travelling all across the country looking for the perfect new partner to replace Tennessee William and help him take back the NYCW Tag Team Titles. Harker claims to have found the perfect partner, and they make their debut as a team at 'Carnage In Queens'.

Also on the card, “That 90's Guy” Riley McManus faces off against young Canadian Hugh Ancrie and The Ring Generals are in action against Brooklyn's Finest. Be sure not to miss it!

[NYCW Empire Title Match]

I'm calling the title change, because of Flash' age and the fact that I don't forsee him having a long run. Reed has been on a very surprising roll and a win here would continue it.

Bulldozer Brandon Smith vs Honest Frank

With Frank on time decline, a win here for BBS can set up another match with Art Reed.

Ace Youngblood vs Prisoner No. 6 ©

[NYCW Empire Title Match]

Steve hasn't held the title for long enough to drop it just yet, I'm calling a DQ win or somesuch.

Bulldozer Brandon Smith vs Honest Frank

'Cos he'll cheat

Ace Youngblood vs Prisoner No. 6 ©

[NYCW Tri-State Regional Title Match]

Prisoner No. 6 need to face a proper challenger soon, but Ace doesn't feel like that guy

The Fighting Irish vs The Boys From Yukon

I can never quite buy into The Boys from the Yukon, though if you can get them over they can do good stuff

"That 90's Guy" Riley McManus vs Hugh Ancrie

McManus always delivers

Animal Harker & ??? vs Brutus Milano & The New York Doll

Mystery partner always wins, especially 'cos Milano sucks

The Ring Generals vs Brooklyn's Finest

SQUASH

[NYCW Empire Title Match]. I am thinking that the change is going to occur here was well. I see Reed pulling all the tricks in the book to escape with a win. This sets up Smith vs Reed rematch for the title at year end perhaps? I think Smith is the guy here at present, and with Reed not being a youngster by any stretch he also could be entering TD as well.

Bulldozer Brandon Smith vs Honest Frank

This should be an easy pick, with Frank’s servers TD. Still I’m torn, do we get a srchamazz finish to set up a rematch? I’m going to say somehow Frank gets the winners share of the purse to set up another match.

My prediction for likely either the November or December Show is

Retirement Match Steve Flash vs Honest Frank

NYCW Title Match Bulldozer Smith vs Art Reed

And The Ring Generals winning back their COTT tag Team titles against whoever has them

Ace Youngblood vs Prisoner No. 6 ©

[NYCW Tri-State Regional Title Match]

The problem that is brewing here is how will you get the title off #6, aka the Road Warrior dilemma. Oh this match, I hope Mt Sinia has a double bed room so Youngblood can join Mayhem in his room

The Fighting Irish vs The Boys From Yukon

by DQ

"That 90's Guy" Riley McManus vs Hugh Ancrie

Riley has one loss, Hugh will not make it 2

Animal Harker & ??? vs Brutus Milano & The New York Doll

JOB Squad vs Animal and a new partner. No idea who the partner is but with Brutus on the other side it could likely be Michael Bull or a broom and the Harker team would win

The Ring Generals vs Brooklyn's Finest

Momentum should be rebuilt for the RG’s to get back into the title picture

[NYCW Empire Title Match] - don't job Steve!!

Bulldozer Brandon Smith vs Honest Frank - BBS is gonna win the feud, but I can see a cheap win for Frank here to keep things going.

Ace Youngblood vs Prisoner No. 6 ©

[NYCW Tri-State Regional Title Match] - fairly clearly.

The Fighting Irish vs The Boys From Yukon - The Irish are maybe my favourite team in the game. Can't pick against them.

"That 90's Guy" Riley McManus vs Hugh Ancrie - This version of Riley is ROCKING.

Animal Harker & ??? vs Brutus Milano & The New York Doll - Mystery partner FTW.

The Ring Generals vs Brooklyn's Finest - I love the Generals NEARLY as much as the Irish.

Steve Flash © vs ”The Pure Athlete” Art Reed

[NYCW Empire Title Match]

Art reedvis impressive, but he is kimd of boring he doesnt scream top champion , also he is a recent addition, it would feel wrong like importing your champion, first let him build on tje territory and the he can win the title, but tonight Flash will win as things are overall better with him as champion.

Bulldozer Brandon Smith vs Honest Frank

This is the beggining of the feud so usually a heel win would happen but I think Frank will DQ himself trying to hurt smith whic will lead to a rematch, i could se this deud lastimg until the end of the year.

Ace Youngblood vs Prisoner No. 6 ©

[NYCW Tri-State Regional Title Match]

Another routinary defense for Prisoner, he is facing this cruiserweights to look dominant month to month and thats ok, its entertaining, creates momentum and him as a wrestler seems to be getting better, but he needs to find a real contender soon before the fans grt bored, the fans need to believe theres a chance he could lose the championship to feel invested, right now he is entertaining but withou investment that wont last long.

The Fighting Irish vs The Boys From Yukon

The Boys still have the momentum from tje Doctor, so they will contimue dominating like monster heels, also as much as I love Jason and Robbie they need still to be built up against lower teams, they could be the new premier tag team from the face side but they need to be built up more before beimg thrown withthe big boys.

"That 90's Guy" Riley McManus vs Hugh Ancrie

No biggy here, Ancrie is an unknown in the US and McManus has only lost once and was to an opponent of international recognition, McManus is on his way to be the next big star, he wont losr here.

Animal Harker & ??? vs Brutus Milano & The New York Doll

I have reached the conclusion Milano isnt on your plans, the new york doll is now driftimg away without a partner, animal harker has great potential and I usually dont pick agaimst a secret partner, so all are signs of a face victory

The Ring Generals vs Brooklyn's Finest

I would be lying if I said I expected The ring generals to turn heel, although almost everyqhere else they are also heels it always seemed new york alwys has them as faces, I know they can play awesome heels they are capable of that but tactically it seems an odd choice, vecause now your tag division seems a little bit heel havy, and even if that wasnt the case there isnt a tag team on the face side that can take the place of the ring generals as the best face team, the other teams arent ready yet, and now all the beliavable tag teams are heels, but hey im not judging, it will be interesting to see how do you deal with that problem.

The problem that is brewing here is how will you get the title off #6, aka the Road Warrior dilemma. Oh this match, I hope Mt Sinia has a double bed room so Youngblood can join Mayhem in his room

Ace Youngblood vs Prisoner No. 6 ©

[NYCW Tri-State Regional Title Match]

Prisoner No. 6 need to face a proper challenger soon, but Ace doesn't feel like that guy

Seeing as you all brought it up - I am aware of the Prisoner No. 6 situation. I've extended his squashes a little further than planned as he still hadn't caught up to my midcard in terms of overness until after the last show (he still pushes as a Lower Midcarder). Now that he's all caught up, we can start the next phase of that story. :)

"That 90's Guy" Riley McManus vs Hugh Ancrie - This version of Riley is ROCKING.

Thanks Jaded! Glad to know I'm not the only one enjoying 90's Riley!

I actually really struggled with what to do with Face Ring Generals. I didn't want them defending the COTT Titles every month, and didn't want them to be 'just another team' when they weren't defending them. This is why they found themselves off of a lot of cards, and sort of lost in the pack a bit. The Heel turn and adding Haley Buck as manager has made them a lot more interesting in my mind, so hopefully they should see the push they deserve in the future!

Prediction Contest - Round Two

Thanks to everyone who predicted on 'Carnage In Queens'. This card seemed to split opinion a lot more than previous months, with a lot of people backing Art Reed to win the NYCW Empire Title, The Fighting Irish to beat The Boys From Yukon, and a few people even backing Honest Frank to beat Bulldozer Brandon Smith.

For this round, nobody achieved a perfect score (sorry XMultiGames but you were 25 minutes after I posted the show!) but both jameschaos and Shifty425 scored 6 to earn a point.

Prediction Results after Round Two

1 point = James The Animator, Theheel, Shift425 & jameschaos

0 ponts = Historian, Jaded & 1PW Fan

There are still 3 more shows before 'Ground Zero' and the end of this round of the contest. Hope to see you all back predicting for the next show!

NYCW pre 'Kings Of New York' Creative Meeting

HXSuquI.jpgCk3d93F.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/KJgaKKY.jpg

PSW and RIPW
? What was Larry thinking? I looked over the table at him, and the grumpy old git just stared back at me, told me that Mitch Naess had it coming. I sighed, PSW I could understand – they operate in the same territory, Mitch and Larry don't get on. But why go after RIPW? Why risk pissing off the Eisen's? Larry just shrugged, muttered something about Mean Jean getting ideas about expanding to the Tri-State. I would have lost it, but then I heard that Mitch Naess had declared hostilities with RIPW as well. These owners were all as mad as each other. As if we didn't have enough going on,
thanks to Larry we now had two hostile relationships to deal with
.

On the positives, apart from Larry making enemies with every owner in the Tri-State area (and beyond) September had been a great month for us. Steve Flash and Art Reed had put on our best match of the year, which had helped us
win the Tri-State Regional battle for the first time
all year! Perhaps this is what had made Larry feel confident enough to start acting out?

Larry wasn't the only owner making enemies this month.
The wrestling world seemed to be at war
. Cliff Anderson at CZCW decared hostilities with IPW and GSW within a few days of each other. Almost immediately GSW had signed Al Coleman and Frankie-Boy Fernandez from Cliff's roster to deals. Say what you want about these rappers, but they don't back down from a fight! As if that wasn't enough Eisen then rounded of an awful month for IPW by delaring hostilities between them and the SWF, and followed that up by going after NOTBPW. People had just got over this news when the blockbuster news that USPW and SOTBPW were hostile hit the headlines.

In news closer to home, not unexpectedly Art Reed and Bulldozer Brandon Smith had both been signed on by PHGW for their next tour. Annoyingly they'd be running on Saturday's so we'd have to move our show dates if we wanted to use them. I normally wouldn't out of principle, but Art and Brandon were arguably our two top guys so sometimes exceptions have to be made.

NYCW Presents Kings Of New York

Live from Pennsylvania Park

Sunday W2 October 2016

'Carnage In Queens' ended with more questions than it provided answers. Art Reed claims to have bested Steve Flash in last months Main Event, making the NYCW Empire Title holder and COTT World Heavyweight Champion rap out to his feared Dread Lock. Unfortunately for Art, referee Michael Bull had disqualified “The Pure Athlete” moments earlier for not breaking the illegal hold. Meanwhile Bulldozer Brandon Smith was prevented really getting his hands on Honest Frank, as the self-proclaimed 'Greatest NYCW Empire Champion of All Time' intentionally got himself disqualified with a low blow to escape Smith. This month sees both Steve Flash and Bulldozer Brandon Smith get the opportunity for revenge as they team up in an attempt to prove themselves as 'Kings Of New York' in a blockbuster Main Event.

Riley McManus has questionable fashion taste, but nobody can deny the 90's enthusiast has been on a roll since joining NYCW back in February. This month he gets his first shot at gold since moving to New York, as he faces the unbeaten Prisoner No. 6 for the Tri-State Regional Title. Doctor O'Haire has been playing mind games with his patients opponents ever since he arrived in NYCW, but can he get inside Riley's 90's filled mind?

Two months ago at 'Uptown Beatdown', The Fighting Irish looked to have the NYCW Tag Team Titles won – until The Boys From Yukon interfered in their match and cost them the titles. A post match attack led to a match last month which saw The Boys From Yukon victorious. It was decided that both teams deserved a shot at the NYCW Tag Team Titles, so we will have a Triple Threat Tag Team match this month, as both teams challenge the Old School Principals for the belts.

Elsewhere on the card, we see the kick off of The Ring Generals Open Challenge. With bragging rights and a guaranteed NYCW year long contract on the line, former PSW Tag Team Champions The Good Ol' Boys have taken up the challenge. Will The Ring Generals further cement their place as 'the best tag team in America', or can The Good Ol' Boys win themselves an NYCW contract?

We also see the continuation of Animal Harker & Jebediah's journey as a tag team, as they look to build towards a Tag Team Title shot as the take on the young team of Hugh Ancrie & Philipe LaGrenier. Man Mountain Cahill is also in action and much more!

Really glad you turned them heel. Bringing in a new fresh manager is a good deal too. Unfortunately as faces the RG’s are really vanilla. Nice touch with the contract offer too

"That 90's Guy" Riley McManus vs Prisoner No. 6 ©

I envision the closest match since his program with Dr. O’Haire began. That said, not even Riley can hang with the brute power game.

End of the line for OSP. The Yukon Boys have their stuff figured out with the assistance of the good doctor.

The Ring Generals vs The Good Ol' Boys

[Open Challenge Match]

Thanks for coming to NYC Boys, now hit the bricks

Max Mayhem vs Man Mountain Cahill

Another singles match and probably another loss. The only thing is Cahill is well past his prime and it is fast becoming time for this roster to get significantly younger.

Animal Harker & Jebediah vs The Canadian Connection

Harker seems to have found someone to do the brunt of the work and then he cleans up the scraps. Pretty good setup for a split although it is way too early for that conversation. But with Jeb generally regarded in character as simple, it does set up nicely.

Ace Youngblood vs Brutus Milano

Brutus is usually very brutal in the ring with his stamina. If he could improve in that then maybe he could be something more than enhancement. Generally Larry seems to favor the big lug though but I can’t see the Aces just completely jobbed forever unless they had short term deals and are going out. Against my better judgement I’m going to side with Brutus

NYCW Kings Of New York

Live from Pennsylvania Park

Saturday, Week 2, October 2016

Audience: 2,000 (SELL OUT!)

http://i.imgur.com/vbRN0Ik.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/VCCQQz1.jpg

Announce Team:

Rock Downpour & Ernie Turner

Rock Downpour
and
Ernie Turner
welcome us to Kings Of New York! Rock & Ernie hype tonight's big tag team Main Event, which sees Steve Flash and Bulldozer Brandon Smith looking for revenge against Art Reed and Honest Frank after their respective DQ's last month. Can Flash & Smith get their revenge, or will Art Reed be able to lock in the Dread Lock and pick up a big win for his team?

Speaking of tonight's Main Event, the show kicks off with Art Reed and Honest Frank heading down to the ring with microphones in hand. Art Reed does not look in a good mood, and tells the fans that all he's been hearing is that tonight is an opportunity for Steve Flash to get some retribution for what happened at 'Carnage In Queens'. But what about Art Reed's retribution? He made Steve Flash tap out, Art Reed should be NYCW Empire Champion right now. Art Reed tells us that referee Michael Bull blew the call at 'Carnage In Queens', that Steve Flash didn't have hold of the ropes. “The Pure Athlete” demands a rematch, and tells Flash that tonight he will make him tap out again. Because once the Dread Lock is applied, everybody taps.

Honest Frank takes over at this point, and tells Bulldozer Brandon Smith that last month he showed once again that he was always one step ahead. He tells Bulldozer that he may as well take Honest Frank's name off of that list of his right now, as Frank will always have a trick up his sleeve to keep him out of Brandon's reach. This month that trick is Art Reed. Frank reminds Smith that he has already tapped out to the Dread Lock once, back at 'Uptown Beatdown', and Frank couldn't wait to see a repeat performance tonight.

One Step Ahead...

Involved: Art Reed & Honest Frank

Ernie Turner: “Art Reed and Honest Frank sounding confident ahead of tonight's Main Event Rocky!”

Rock Downpour: “With Art Reed's Dread Lock, they have every right to be. I'm still backing Steve Flash and Bulldozer Brandon Smith to get the job done though!”

  • Haley Buck welcomes us to the inaugural Ring Generals Open Challenge, and introduces their first opponents: former PSW Tag Team Champions – The Good Ol' Boys!

  • This match proved to be a great showcase of just why The Ring Generals have the reputation of being one of the premier tag teams in America, as they utilised frequent tags and excellent teamwork in order to control this match against much larger opponents.

  • The Good Ol' Boys did land some shots, and fought hard as they chased that guaranteed contract – having been stuck working one off indy dates since 2014.

  • However, the Ring Generals superior teamwork and technical skill proved too much for The Good Ol' Boys, and they were able to hit the Wheelbarrow Bomb to secure the victory.

  • Post-match Haley Buck commiserated The Good Ol' Boys, telling them that they could take solace in knowing that they had been beaten by the best. She then extended an invitation for next month at 'Throwback Thursday' to any other teams who thought they could live with The Ring Generals.

The Good Ol' Boys (Thimbleby Langton & Wooton Fitzpaine) vs The Ring Generals (Dean Waldorf & Marv Statler)

The Ring Generals Open Challenge Match

Ernie Turner: “An impressive win for The Ring Generals. I've got to say that with Haley Buck leading them, those boys really do look like the best tag team in America right now!”

Rock Downpour: “I think one or two of these teams might have something to say about that Ernie! The Old School Principals defend their Tag Team Titles in a triple threat match against The Fighting Irish and The Boys Of Yukon, two teams who haven't seen eye to eye as of late.”

  • With all the bad blood between The Fighting Irish and The Boys Of Yukon over the past few months, it is no surprise that these two teams go after each other from the first bell.

  • The Old School Principals show their experience, as they mostly stay out of the match in the early stages and allow the other two teams to wear each other down.

  • A few minutes in Rick Sanders, thinking he's seen an opportunity, tries to sneak in and get a quick pinfall on Whitehorse Whittaker. Unfortunately for Sanders, the big Lumberjack is able to kick out and OSP are dragged into the contest.

  • With all six men now involved, this one devolves into a wild brawl. This seems to favour the big Boys From Yukon as they dump the OSP to the outside.

  • The Fighting Irish don't back down for a moment, with Conner & Crockett using all of their technical expertise to match the heavy hitting of their much larger opponents.

  • Howlin' Mad Mort is finally able to dump Crockett Tubbs to the outside, when Rick Sanders sneaks back into the ring and tries to roll up the big man from Yukon.

  • Howlin' Mad Mort is able to kick out, and Sanders looks to scurry away but turns right into Whitehorse Whittaker. Sanders knows he's in trouble and moments later is sent to the mat: Tiiiiiiiiiiimber! And we have new Tag Team Champions!

NYCW Tag Team Titles

Ernie Turner: “We have new Tag Team Champions! A huge win for The Boys From Yukon!”

Rock Downpour: “What is he doing out here?”

As The Boys Of Yukon celebrate their title win in the ring, they are soon joined by Doctor Michael O'Haire. O'Haire is wearing the Tri-State Regional Title belt around his waist, and clapping as he enters the ring. He motions to his title belt and then to The Boys Of Yukons new title belts, before pulling both men into a big hug. The three men compare title belts for a moment, before Doctor O'Haire pulls out another of his cards and hands one to each Yukon. Again this card looks different from the standard business card that we had seen previously, but neither Mort nor Whittaker looks concerned by it as they walk to the back with the Doctor.

A job well done!

Involved: The Boys From Yukon & Doctor Michael O'Haire

Rock Downpour: “What are those cards he's handing out?”

Ernie Turner: “You're reading far too much into this Rocky. They're probably just call back cards he uses for appointments.”

Rock Downpour: “Maybe...”

Ernie Turner: “And you can't deny his treatment is working. First Prisoner No, 6, now The Boys From Yukon... the man is building champions!”

Rock Downpour: “Yes, but at what cost?”

  • We used this match to cool down the crowd after a strong start to the show.

  • Brutus Milano looked to use his size and power advantage to impose himself on his opponent. However, Ace Youngblood is a proud Native American and fought hard to bring pride to his tribe.

  • This one didn't go too long before Ace Youngblood was able to land the Flying Tomahawk Chop to pick up the victory.

Ace Youngblood vs Brutus Milano

Ernie Turner: “Ace Youngblood with a huge victory!”

Rock Downpour: “Things haven't been easy for The Aces Of Mayhem over the past few months as they've found themselves facing off against the big men of NYCW. Ace showed a lot of heart there to get the victory against a much bigger man!”

Ernie Turner: “Things don't get any easier for his partner though, as he faces off against Man Mountain Cahill next!”

  • While Ace Youngblood had been able to overturn a size and weight deficit in his match with Brutus Milano, Max Mayhem was giving up even more size against an angry Man Mountain and never looked like being able to overturn it.

  • Cahill was in a sour mood tonight as he threw his Cruiserweight opponent around the ring.

  • Mercifully for Mayhem, Cahill wasn't in the mood to extend this one out too long and hit the Mountain Topper to get the win.

Max Mayhem vs Man Mountain Cahill

Things didn't look good for Max Mayhem, as Cahill looked like he wanted to continue his attack post match. Ace Youngblood came flying out of the back and used all of that momentum to land a Flying Tomahawk Chop that staggered Man Mountain Cahill a couple of paces back, but the big man kept his feet. The Native America scurried over to his partner and ushered him out of the ring, as The Aces Of Mayhem sprinted to the back, leaving a seething Man Mountain Cahill standing alone in the ring.

The Great escape

Involved: Man Mountain Cahill, Ace Youngblood & Max Mayhem

Rock Downpour: “The Aces Of Mayhem pull of the great escape!”

Ernie Turner: “Look at Cahill though Rocky, he looks fit to burst. Someone's gonna pay for this, mark my words!”

  • On commentary both Rock Downpour & Ernie Turner remain impressed by the sheer size of Jebediah, although Ernie reveals to us that he had a conversation with Jebediah before the show and the man was a few cards short of a deck – if you know what he means?

  • Animal Harker started this one up for his team this month, and The Canadian Connection made a concerted effort to keep Harker in their corner as neither man looked to keen to face off against the 6'11 Jebediah.

  • Both Canadian youngsters showed some good technical wrestling as they isolated Animal Harker for a few minutes, but eventually Harker made it back to his corner and made the hot tag.

  • While Jebediah didn't exactly burst into the ring, he did start throwing some heavy right hands to take out both Ancrie & LaGrenier. After throwing Ancrie from the ring, Jebediah hit the Sundown Splash on LaGrenier to pick up a second win for his new team with Harker.

Animal Harker & Jebediah vs The Canadian Connection (Hugh Ancrie & Philipe LaGrenier)

Rock Downpour: “Another impressive win from Animal Harker & Jebediah. Harker looks to have surprised us and found himself a hell of a partner!”

Ernie Turner: “Jebediah is big, he's strong, and he could take Animal harker right back to the top of the tag team pile.”

  • Doctor O'Haire makes his way to the ring, still wearing the Tri-State Regional Title – which
    still
riles up Rock Downpour on commentary.

  • Not to be outdone, Riley comes to the ring wearing a
. How's that been working out with the ladies Riley?

  • With the help of Doctor O'Haire, Prisoner No. 6 has dominated all comers since arriving to NYCW in January. However, despite his ridiculous tee shirt choices, Riley McManus has also been on a roll since joining NYCW.

  • McManus surprised Prisoner No. 6, as he showed off his impressive technical wrestling skills no ground his much larger opponent and control the early exchanges.

  • Try as he might, Prisoner No. 6 couldn't string together any series of moves, and any time he looked like doing so soon found himself stuck back in one Riley McManus hold or another.

  • McManus had Prisoner No. 6 stuck in a Full Nelson hold from behind, when Prisoner No. 6 looked to drive Riley McManus back first into the Turnbuckle. Unfortunately, referee Michael Bull was out of position between Riley and the turnbuckle. Prisoner drove Riley into referee Michael Bull, who in turn was driven back first into the turnbuckle.

  • Riley checked on the referee, trying to wake him up. Unfortunately, Prisoner No. 6 had less interest in the referees well being and jumped Riley from behind.

  • A slightly worried looking Doctor O'Haire screamed at Prisoner No. 6 to 'finish it', and the inmate hit the Jail Break. Michael Bull came around just in time to make the three count and secure a (slightly undeserved) victory for Prisoner No. 6.

NYCW Tri-State Regional Title

Rock Downpour: “What a match! Riley McManus pushed Prisoner No. 6 all the way there!”

Ernie Turner: “We've not seen anyone stand up to Prisoner No. 6 like that before! This kid can wear all the bad tee shirts he wants, he proved he's the real deal out there tonight.”

Rock Downpour: “Oh no, Prisoner No. 6 doesn't look like he's done out there...”

Post-match, Prisoner No. 6 looks like he wants to murder somebody and he has Riley McManus in his sights. He moves towards Riley, but Doctor O'Haire is in the ring and waves his patient off before offering a hand and helping Riley McManus back to his feet. Riley holds his ribs and eyes Doctor O'Haire suspiciously. Prisoner No. 6 grabs a microphone from ringside and hands it to Doctor O'Haire, along with the Tri-State Regional Title belt.

Doctor O'Haire is very complimentary about Riley's performance, telling the crowd that even back in the Penitentiary he'd never seen anyone push the inmate so close. The doctor hands Riley back his 'Blockbuster & Chill' tee shirt, commenting that a few months ago he'd seen Riley wearing an old 90's DAVE tee shirt. Riley nodded, telling O'Haire that he'd watched back all of the old DAVE tapes and that his dream as a kid was to wrestle for them. A devious grin spread over the doctors face.

O'Haire told Riley that since next month was going to be 'Throwback Thursday', how about he hook up Riley with a new tag team partner?A partner who had been a multi-time champion in DAVE? An excited Riley asked the doctor is he could really do it. O'Haire told Riley that he'd be surprised who he met in his line of work. So how about it Riley & a DAVE icon teaming up at 'Throwback Thursday'? Riley put out a hand and the two men shook. Doctor O'Haire pulled a card out of his jacket and handed it to Riley, who barely looked at it and he took it and began excitedly guessing who the mystery partner could be as he walked to the back with Doctor O'Haire and his patient Prisoner No. 6.

“I can help you...”

Involved: Riley McManus, Prisoner No. 6 & Doctor Michael O'Haire

Rock Downpour: “Something doesn't feel right about this...”

Ernie Turner: “Oh come on Rocky, Riley loves everything about the 90's... of course he's a DAVE fan!”

Rock Downpour: “I don't get what's in it for our doctor friend.”

Ernie Turner: “Maybe he's just feeling charitable?”

  • The referee loses control of this one from the bell, as Bulldozer Brandon Smith tears after Honest Frank, who has hightailed it from the ring, and Art Reed goes right after Steve Flash.

  • Flash and Reed have a real back and forth, with Reed the aggressor of the two as Flash is slightly more cagey as he tries to avoid giving Reed the opportunity to set up his feared Dread Lock.

  • Unfortunately for Flash, the Dread Lock isn't Reed's only weapon. A Snap Suplex, followed by a Northern Lights Suplex and a smooth looking Dropkick put “The Pure Athlete” in control.

  • Flash was able to raise sparks of offence, but struggled to regain any momentum. Reed stayed on top with a stiff looking Super Kick that looked to have rung Steve Flash's bells.

  • The champion was in real trouble now, and Art Reed knew it and went for the Dread Lock. Flash struggled and made for the ropes, but Reed pulled him to the middle of the ring. The hold was fully locked in and Flash had nowhere to go, the champion struggled but was stranded in the middle of the ring. He raised his hand to tap, but Bulldozer Brandon Smith came from nowhere to break the hold!

  • Steve Flash rolled out of the ring, to join a downed Honest Frank on the outside. Art Reed pulled himself to his feet, and there was a staredown between the “Bulldozer” and “The Pure Athlete”.

  • The two men traded heavy right hands, which eventually saw the much larger “Bulldozer” overrun his opponent.

  • Art Reed changed tact and began trading Suplexes with Smith. Unfortunately Smith had spent as much time in Japan as Art had, and both men gave as good as they got. Snap Suplexes, Northern Lights Suplexes, Bell-To-Belly, Belly-To-Back, if you can think of a Suplex one of these men dished it out.

  • Getting desperate, Art Reed headed to the top rope. This was out of character, and it was no surprise when Bulldozer Brandon Smith was able to catch Art Reed mid flight. “The Pure Athlete” was hoisted onto Smith's shoulders and the “Bulldozer” delivered a Powerslam.

  • Smith let out a guttural roar, but Honest Frank was back in the ring and tried to roll up Smith from behind! 1... 2... NO! Smith kicked out!

  • Frank turned to hightail it, but turned right into a Flash Bang from Steve Flash. Art Reed considered sliding back in to break up the pin, but saw Bulldozer Brandon Smith waiting for him and thought better of it and began walking to the back.

Steve Flash & Bulldozer Brandon Smith vs Art Reed & Honest Frank

Ernie Turner: “Steve Flash does it, Steve Flash pins Honest Frank!”

Rock Downpour: “Did you see Art Reed walking out on his partner there? He did not look a happy man.”

Ernie Turner: “Art Reed had that match won, Steve Flash was about to tap out to the Dread Lock before Brandon Smith made the save. Reed thinks he should be Empire Champion, and if he gets another shot he looks to have Flash's number!”

Rock Downpour: “Will Art Reed get his shot? Join us at 'Throwback Thursday' to find out!”

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who predicted on this round, hopefully everyone enjoyed the show and will be back for the next round. I also just wanted to let everyone know there will be a weeks break in this diary. I am going on holiday tomorrow, but will pick this back up once I return. I'll try to get the card for the next show up tonight before I leave, so that we can be ready to move forwards towards 2017 as soon as I'm back!

Really glad you turned them heel. Bringing in a new fresh manager is a good deal too. Unfortunately as faces the RG’s are really vanilla. Nice touch with the contract offer too

Thanks Theheel! I like the idea of an open challenge having an actual tangible benefit for give the challengers a reason to take on a tough match. Plus it opens up a few options for me on where I want to take the story, which is all I can ask as a booker! :p

Prediction Contest - Round Three

No perfect scores this round, with the Main Event tag match in particular splitting opinion. Theheel and Jaded earn themselves a point this show, putting Theheel into the lead with 2 points overall!

Prediction Results after Round Three

2 Points = Theheel

1 point = James The Animator, Jaded, Shift425 & jameschaos

There are still 2 more shows before 'Ground Zero' and the end of this round of the contest. Hope to see you all back predicting for the next show!

Since there will be a natural break with my holiday, if anyone has any feedback they want to share regarding the diary I'd love to hear it. What are you enjoying the most? What could be improved? Who's your favourite character in the diary? Feel free to comment on the thread or PM me, I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Well have a good holiday first and foremost.

I like the fact that you have multiple characters with interesting stories. The whole Steve Flash saga is old school nostalgia at its best.

Honest Frank who is probably on the way to retirement here soon had a good run with the Empire title being the chicken-_____ heel that I love.

The a Good Dr and his Prisoner that he is rehabbing is very interesting. What is with the cards that he hands out?

Bulldozer has been fighting the good fight against first Cahill, Reed and Frank. He is destined to eventually wear the Empire Title but the road to it has been well set up.

The talented but vanilla Ring Generals have even turned the corner. Give them a smart, sexy female manager and a reason for teams to face them.

Riley McManus who in 2019 has gone from unemployed spare part has starred in Rocky Mt becoming a cult legend here. But now you sign him, give him a goofy gimmick but it’s working. I’m looking forward to what trick the Good Dr has in store for him.

Even Art Reed has been made interesting. A nice heel turn, hard edge and bang you’ve created an interesting wrestler.

So that is what I like most. Not just a main event storyline but multiple layers with stories making things interesting top to bottom.

What I’m looking forward to though is to see what you do as the aging, and I mean aging roster in NYCW has to evolve. Frank is obvious, but you also have a Cahill, both members of OSP, the story’s hero Steve Flash and even Art Reed. These guys are all on the wrong side of Father Time and as we know Father Time doesn’t do any jobs. Where will the company go.

Great show, and enjoy the holiday!

Loving the diary so far. A couple of quick thoughts - as a long time Steve Flash fan, his storyline here is FABULOUS, really great stuff. Riley's 90's Guy shtick is awesome. And the Doctor/Prisoner/Boys/others is very intriguing, really looking forward to seeing where you go with it.

NYCW Presents Throwback Thursday

Live from Pennsylvania Park

Thursday W2 November 2016

NYCW welcomes you to indulge in your nostalgia at 'Throwback Thursday', a night filled with the very best of Old School wrestling.

Costal Zone Champion Donnie J travels to New York, as he challenges COTT World Heavyweight Champion Steve Flash in the Main Event of the evening. The COTT World Heavyweight Title represents the culmination of 31 years of hard work for NYCW legend Steve Flash, can he hold on to the gold or will Donnie J be taking two belts back to California?

At 'Kings Of New York' it looked like Steve Flash was about to tap out to Art Reed's Dread Lock once again, before Bulldozer Brandon Smith intervened. Flash may have won the match, but Art Reed's calls for a rematch for the NYCW Empire Title are getting louder. Can “The Pure Athlete” pick up a momentum boosting win against former NOTBPW standout Conner Threepwood to push his case even further?

Doctor O'Haire has promised Riley McManus a multi-time DAVE championship winner as a partner, to help Riley live out his dreams. While the former DAVE standout hasn't been confirmed, they will be teaming up with “That 90's Guy” Riley McManus to face off against Prisoner No. 6 and his therapist Doctor O'Haire, who will be competing in only his second match. Can Riley live out his DAVE dream, or will it turn into a nightmare?

Animal Harker set out on a quest to find the perfect tag team partner to launch an assault on tag team gold, and after much searching settled on the 6'11, 300lb Jebediah. At 'Throwback Thursday' Animal Harker gets his chance to reclaim the belts that he lost. Can the new team make a splash and win the gold, or will it be prove too much too soon?

Elsewhere on the card, The Ring Generals have issued an open challenge to any tag team in America who think they're good enough to beat them. A full time, guaranteed one year NYCW contract is on the line for any team who can do it! Bulldozer Brandon Smith and Man Mountain Cahill will also be on the card! Be sure not to miss out!

Thank you so much for your kind words! I am becoming increasingly aware of the age of some of my top guys. The move has slowly begun - I have moved the tag titles away from the OSP (they only won them because Tennessee William left before I could rebuild The Boys From Yukon), and I think my plans for two of my next top guys are fairly obvious at this point. While I think there should always be a few old timers at NYCW it will certainly be interesting to see how long the older guys at the top of the guys can stay there, and how quickly we can move younger guys up to replace them!

Great show, and enjoy the holiday!

The card for the next show is up! i'll be posting the card when I return from holiday, so I look forward to seeing all of your predictions then!
