NYCW Presents Big Apple Bash

Live from The Ministry

Saturday W2 June 2016

Big Apple Bash's blockbuster Main Event sees a clash of the titans, as Bulldozer Brandon Smith challenges Man Mountain Cahill to a No Disqualification match. When the irresistable force met the immovable object at 'Spring Showdown' neither gave an inch in a double countout draw. Expect fireworks, as the two men go to war. Somethings got to give, and only one man will be left standing at the end of the night.

Following his victory over Frankie Perez at 'Brooklyn Bash', Honest Frank continues his quest to prove he is 'the greatest NYCW Empire champion of all time', as he faces one half of the COTT World Tag Team Champions Marv Statler. Honest Frank has already beaten two of the best wrestlers that the COTT alliance has to offer, can he add the scalp of a COTT World Tag Team champion to his resume?

'Big Apple Bash' will also see the debut of Art Reed, best known for his work in DaVe and, more recently, PGHW, where he currently holds one-half of the PGHW Glory Tag Crown. Reed debuts against “That 90's Guy” Riley McManus. McManus is undefeated in NYCW since debuting in February, but Art Reed represents a step up in opponent. Can the 90's kid maintain his unbeaten run, or can Art Reed make a splash in his NYCW debut?

'Big Apple Bash' also sees COTT World Heavyweight Champion Steve Flash in action and Prisoner No. 6 make the first defence of his NYCW Tri-State Regional Title against Animal Harker. Be sure not to miss it!

Man Mountain Cahill vs Bulldozer Brandon Smith

[No Disqualification Match] - Given how strong Prisoner #6 is looking, and the way Frank keeps winning, you need a face other than Flash ready to confront them and BBS definitely fits that role.

Marv Statler vs Honest Frank © [NYCW Empire Title Match] - I can see a title reign that's long on months, if short on clean victories.

'COTT World Heavyweight Champion' Steve Flash vs Phillipe LeGrenier - Has to be

Animal Harker vs Prisoner #6 ©

[NYCW Tri-State Regional Title Match] - Another no-brainer

“That 90's Guy” Riley McManus vs Art Reed - Reed is a favourite of mine, but I'm loving Riley in this diary!

Brooklyn's Finest vs The Boys From Yukon - Miscommunication of some form

Man Mountain Cahill vs Bulldozer Brandon Smith

[No Disqualification Match]

Right Now you are looking for a top babyface, no one replaced Cage fully, Steve has defacto taking that role but is too old to be credible, his world title win was most honorary, to reward him, and is the type of wrestler that almost all companies can book as his popularity extends to canada, I think he only cant defend in mexico, but is just to honor him it wont last long, and maybe not by your hand, but the person I bet will take Cage spot is BBS, he is young he has the look and the popularity and has worked here for a time the fans are fond of him is not like hiring an unemployed over guy like importing a main eventer, and the way to finally establish BBS as the Ace that replaces Cage is by beating a popular menacing monster heel, in Man Mountain Cahill that loses nothing by taking the fall, he doesnt look weak he still dominated all other opponents so instead of making him look weak it makes Smith look stronger as he finally beat him, then Cahill can continue dominating the lower card until he can put over another rising star again, thats his job now, he is over and credible too put someone over without losing face, but is too old to be a full time main eventer he needs to be kept in shorter matches, which hampers him, and just leaves him for this circumstances or dominating jobbers monthly.

Marv Statler vs Honest Frank ©

[NYCW Empire Title Match]

Sorrily Marv Statler is a tag team guy, and I think people know it, he is one of that type of tag team guys who sells himself as a tag team member, [not individual gimmick just the gimmick of member of the ring generals and takes the gimmick of the ring generals, so all signs go to Honest Frank retaining his title one more time./I]

'COTT World Heavyweight Champion' Steve Flash vs Phillipe LeGrenier

This one is a no brainer, LeGrenier can be a star, but he needs to grow, I hope you keep him and push him, but an unknown in the US isnt going to be The COTT champion and the defacto biggest star on NYCW in its debut, its just a win for the champ to continue his momentum.

Animal Harker vs Prisoner #6 ©

[NYCW Tri-State Regional Title Match]

Im actually very tempted to put Harker as the winner but specify is a DQ finish, like Prisoner just goes beserk and gets himself DQed after Harker poses more of a challenge than anyone, but I feel that for a just crowned champion he needs a dominat win to prove his win wasnt a fluke he needs to beat someone as over as Harker clean or semiclean, to establish his reign, I think harker is one for the future if he finds a better gimmick.

“That 90's Guy” Riley McManus vs Art Reed

I just feel art reed's time is over, he never reached his potential, he is too old and uninteresting for NYCW, he is here to be someone with a big name to put over people, this is Riley McManus time, he is on his way to becoming a main eventer even with this gimmick, I feel if BBS takes the role Cage had or Steve Flash retires Riley McManus could be next in line to take their actual places, thats how high I rate this guy.

Brooklyn's Finest vs The Boys From Yukon

The doctor will have its effect and they will beat these jobbers without a bat, I feel that the center of the storyline isnt Prisoner or the Boys of the Yukon, the Star is the doctor, he is the manager and the brain, he is forming a stable with big strong guys, this is the conclusion to the tension between the Boys, now they become an unit again winning matches, and the doctor proves his methods work and demands a match for his guys for either tag title belt NYCW or COTT, to get a stable with all holding gold, I feel this stable is going to grow and he will want all gold in NYCW for his guys.

Dean Waldorf vs The New York Doll

Dean Waldorf is a champion, his partner is in the main event, The New York Doll is in a losing strak and his partner is in the bench, this one is clear as day, The Ring General continues establishing his dominance and The New York Doll continues his story of losing going to wherever is going.

Crockett Tubbs vs Brutus Milano

This one has no logic into it, all logic signs that Tubbs should win to get his momentum back after losing the title, but I hate Crockett Tubbs as a character (not the person) and I love Brutus Milano in all ways as a wrestler, I really hope someday someone else will see his potential as I have seen it, so for now I say he wins hoping for the unexpected upset.

NYCW pre 'Gang Wars' Creative Meeting

HXSuquI.jpgCk3d93F.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/KJgaKKY.jpg

June had been a fantastic month for NYCW. 'Big Apple Bash' had been a great show, with Bulldozer Brandon Smith & Man Mountain Cahill putting on our best match of the year in the Main Event.
Following the success of the event, TotalExtremeWrestling.com had now classified NYCW as a Regional sized company
. On top of that, we had been able to sign Art Reed to a one year deal. Art's latest PGHW tour had finished a week before 'Big Apple Bash', and while he didn't normally work between tours he had agreed to come and work for us for one last US run before his body gave out on him. This was a huge coup, Art may be 41 years old but he can still really go as he showed in his debut win over Riley McManus.

The rise to regional and the signing of Art Reed gave us hige momentum heading into 'Gang Wars', our biggest show of the year. I had plans to bring in a couple more guys to fill out the Gang Wars card, and luckily we'd turned a profit of $1,732 for June so Larry didn't put up too much of a fight.

Unfortunately, Larry did bring up the Tombstone Piledriver that BBS used in the finish of the Main Event at 'Big Apple Bash'. I'd told Brandon to use the move and to ignore the High Risk move ban Larry has at NYCW. The spot went down great with the fans, and really helped to elevate the match. I suggested that we remove the move ban we currently have in place, but Larry refused to budge. We eventually agreed on a compromise, taking a 'less is more' approach. We agreed that one or two higher risk moves per show, done by our safer and more experienced workers, would add to the show without raising our injury risk too much. It would also make those moves stand out more and give them more meaning than if they were used in every match. While Larry still didn't like the idea, he begrudgingly agreed. This was great news for me, as I was planning on going all out for my first 'Gang Wars' card...

Thanks to everyone who predicted for 'Big Apple Bash'. I'm enjoying reading all of the comments and seeing where people see this going. A lot of you seem to be seeing things the way I am, which is good. The prize for this round of predictions will be sent out to the winners after the next show, so be sure to get your predictions in for 'Gang Wars' (card will be up this evening).

“That 90's Guy” Riley McManus vs Art Reed - Reed is a favourite of mine, but I'm loving Riley in this diary!

Glad you're enjoying Riley! I wasn't sure how this portrayal was going to come across given some of the pushes he has recieved in other diaries (notably Historian's). I'm enjoying the character so far, so I'm glad that's coming across!

Thanks for your comments! I agree that Smith is my most marketable star, and is the guy I'm lining up to be "the guy" (as shown by his win over Cahill). The issue I currently have is that he is beat up from his tours in Japan, so I need him to recever physically before I can strap a rocket on him. If I can hold on to him, then Smith should definitely be my ace by the time we reach 2017 in game.

Again completely agree on Riley. If BBS is the guy I'm eyeing up to replace Cage, Riley is the guy I'm looking at to take the spot of Steve Flash when he calls it a day. Riley's also less likely to get poached than BBS, so that makes him even more valuable.

Man Mountain Cahill vs Bulldozer Brandon Smith (Based on your hiring and firing decisions, I see you shifting NYCW's specialty from being "big men" to "big men who can work". Cahill is in the former category; Smith fits in the latter.)

[No Disqualification Match]

That's an interesting insight. I only fired Harper because he managed to destroy my backstage rating in one fell swoop and left me no choice. I agree that NYCW always need a core of "big guys", but I always like to have some more technical guys around for them to work with.

“That 90's Guy” Riley McManus vs Art Reed (I would be cool with Reed as the top face of NYCW until a younger guy is ready to rise to the occasion. He's not too much of a departure from the old-school style NYCW employs. The quick rise of McManus stops here.)

I agree Reed's a great fit for NYCW. Just a note - I'm actually using him as a Heel as he has more value to me on that side currently.

“That 90's Guy” Riley McManus vs Art Reed

This is a tough one. On the one hand, Art Reed in his prime is one of the best you can find. On the other hand, he's rarely in his prime and Ri-Mac's been getting quite a push.

In this game Reed is only just starting to start his time decline, which is amazing for me! My biggest time decline issue is Honest Frank, who's five years over the hill and taking penalties left, right and centre.

NYCW Presents Gang Wars

Live from Pennsylvania Park

Saturday W2 July2016

The stakes couldn't be higher as NYCW heads into their biggest show of the year. All the gold is on the line, as COTT World Heavyweight Champion Steve Flash puts up his world title against Honest Frank's NYCW Empire Title. Honest Frank felt Steve Flash “stole” his world title shot back at 'Spring Showdown', and finally gets his chance to prove that NYCW made a mistake not giving him the World Title shot in the first place. Can Honest Frank win his first World Heavyweight Championship, or will Steve Flash's fairytale continue?

Elsewhere, NYCW continues the 'Gang Wars' tradition of promoting multi man contests and tag team wrestling. The COTT World Tag Team Titles will be on the line, as champions The Ring Generals put their belts on the line against CZCW standouts and former World Tag Team champions The American Cobras in a match that threatens to steal the show. The NYCW Tag Team Titles will also be on the line, as the Old School Principals put the belts on the line against the undefeated Aces Of Mayhem.

We saw Borne To Riot take out their frustrations on Crockett Tubbs at 'Big Apple Bash', jumping the former Tri-State Regional Champion from behind. Having been left beaten down in the middle of the ring two shows in a row, Crockett Tubbs has found himself some back up as 'Gang Wars' sees the return of The Fighting Irish as they look for some retribution against Borne To Riot.

Last month at 'Big Apple Bash', Doctor O'Haire advised Animal Harker that he should find a new partner and return to tag team wrestling. The former tag team champion, looking to avenge last months defeat, has challenged Prisoner No. 6 to find a partner and face him in tag team action at 'Gang Wars'.

<p><strong>Steve Flash ©</strong> vs Honest Frank ©</p><p>

[COTT World Heavyweight Championship Match]</p><p>

[NYCW Empire Title Match]</p><p> </p><p>

<em>I have noticed something in the last few shows, and that is that in honest frank matches it usually says he was visibly tired, I think his time decline might be bigger than expected, also its the biggest show of the year usually is this kind of shows that end with a happy ending for the fans, so Steve Flash becoming a double champion is the best possible ending.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>The Ring Generals © </strong>vs The American Cobras</p><p>

[COTT World Tag Team Title Match]</p><p> </p><p>

<em>I actually like this matchup, two of the best tag teams in the whole alliance teaming facing each other, reallistically this could be the time the Ring Generals will lose the titles, but I think that if its to them they should win the title in CZCW instead of NYCW, this maybe is how only I play it, but I usually dont do the title changes I usually let the AI do the Alliance Title Change, so I dont expect The Ring Generals to drop the title in NYCW, mostly because is a story device that you possess and taking it away from you yourself seems counterprodcutive, but I dont know maybe you have another reasoning, but I still predict The Ring Generals winning.</em></p><p> </p><p>

The Aces Of Mayhem vs <strong>Old School Principals ©</strong></p><p>

[NYCW Tag Team Title Match]</p><p> </p><p>

<em>The Aces of Mayhem are a good tag team, but they arent as over as to win the tag titles yet, they need to grow a little bit more, and get their tag team skills going after so long without teaming, so for right now the Old School Principals retain the tag titles, as they are the most over tag team to hold them as heels, atleast until the Ring Generals win them after dropping the alliance titles, so the next team with a similar popularity are the old school principals, so theres no hurry on them dropping the titles.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Animal Harker & Dermot O'Logical vs <strong>Prisoner No. 6 & Art Reed</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>Now this is a surprise, I can understand Reed being important, maybe I wrote him off too quickly, but I never expected him to be a heel, he usually is a babyface when people hire him, so this is a good change of pace for me makes him more intersting, now Harker is good but O'Logical is a jobber, and they are fighting a new signinig that comes with momentum and prestige and the unstopable midcard champion, yeah the faces arent winning this match, but I doubt Reed is allied with the Doctor, although he could.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>The Fighting Irish</strong> vs Borne To Riot</p><p> </p><p>

<em>Now this is something I can get myself invested in, I know people like the Dealer Crockett Tubbs gimmick, but that was when he was a heel, and that gimmick isnt that good, but now he doesnt even has that he turned face and turned into a bland babyface, but hopefully with Jason O'Conner coming to reform their Irish Tag Team he can go back to being Robbie McNamara and getting and Irish Gimmick, that will be enough for me to get behind him, but yeah someone is ddebuting and Tubbs is more imporntant, so Borne to Riot lose.... Again, I dont know where this is going but I know the payoff isnt them winning, maybe separating or maybe The Doctor will do his therapy on them.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Riley McManus, Freedom Eagle & Hawkeye Calhoun vs <strong>Phillipe LaGrenier, Hugh Ancrie & Brutus Milano</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>I feel sorry for Riley for teaming with this jobber tag team, but I cant see the face team winning, in the heel team we have a guy that look like a reallistic tough guy in Milano, a future star with a lot of potential and good heel ability in Grenier and a guy that until recently was fighting in the biggest company in canada and is a future prospect, is almost sure the heels are winning this match, I just hope McManus looks strong and doesnt eat the fall.</em></p>

I was on top of the moon after 'Gang Wars'. 2,000 people had turned up to watch our best show of the year so far. Steve Flash & Honest Frank had battled for all of the gold, and The Ring Generals and The American Cobras had stolen the show with our best match this year. It was a shame that Dean and Marv had to drop the belts, but they'd had a good run with 8 title defences. I'd made an agreement with Sam Keith when I negotiated for Steve to win the world title that we wouldn't monopolise the alliance titles. </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Steve missed this months Creative Meeting to take part in the Sam Keith Classic, which he actually won alongside Hal Havard. I was glad to see that Steve was finally getting the appreciation his talents had always deserved. </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

As well as a successful month in the ring, we'd had a great month financially as well. The bumper crowd at Pennsylvania Park had helped us turn a profit of $3,635 for the month. This helped me talk Larry in to letting me bring another wrestler in on a short term deal. He did take a parting shot that my roster was getting bloated, something that Steve had never allowed. That was something I'd need to look at...</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

<p>Thanks to everyone who predicted in this round! Everyone picked Flash to win both titles, but nobody picked the Cobras winning the world tag belts. I had (I hope) solid reasoning for both:</p><p> </p><p>

Honest Frank is in terminal time decline, and getting solid Main Events out of him was getting tough. I enjoyed writing the character, but I was having to pull stars from MAW & CZCW to drag him to servicable Main Events which isn't ideal. Flash is also obviously a veteran, but has only just entered decline and can do a good job a champ while I build a few people up to that level.</p><p> </p><p>

For the tag belts - this was personal preference. I try not to monopolise that alliance titles, as I think the rest of the alliance wouldn't want both belts sat on one show for too long. Just personal preference, but that was my reasoning here.</p><p> </p><p>

Counting up the <strong>prediction contest</strong>, if my maths is right over the past few shows <strong>Historian</strong> and <strong>1PW Fan</strong> had the highest score, one ahead of <strong>James Chaos</strong> and <strong>XMultiGames</strong>. Thank you to everyone who predicted, I've really enjoyed reading your comments. I'll PM the winners probably tomorrow with my ideas for a prize.</p><p> </p><p>

I'll run another prediction contest that runs through to the end of the year (in game). Again, thank you to everyone who is reading along - hope to hear from you in the next contest!</p>

NYCW Presents Uptown Beatdown

Live from Pennsylvania Park

Saturday W2 August 2016

It's been a busy few months for Steve Flash. He picked up the biggest win of his 31 year career at 'Spring Showdown' in April, defeating “The Untouchable” Nicolas Lopez for the COTT World Heavyweight Championship. Then last month he went and topped it by becoming the first man to simultaneously hold the NYCW Empire Title and the COTT World Heavyweight Championship by defeating Honest Frank at 'Gang Wars', and then followed it up by winning Maw's Sam Keith Classic alongside Hal Havard two weeks later.

Unfortunately for Steve Flash this kind of success can sometimes attract some unwanted attention. NYCW officials received word from Mexico of a competitor who wanted to face the man who had ended the reign of the lucha libre legend Nicolas Lopez. "Demon Seed" made a name for himself in Mexico as an avenger of souls, but this marks his first trip to America. Can Steve Flash hold on to his newly won Empire Title, or will "Demon Seed" claim revenge for Nicolas Lopez and bring the title back down to Mexico?

Following his huge win over Man Mountain Cahill in a brutal contest at 'Big Apple Bash', Bulldozer Brandon Smith returns to in ring action against “The Pure Athlete” Art Reed. With Art Reed unbeaten since joining NYCW, and the Bulldozer on the back of a huge victory this promises to be a fantastic contest. Bulldozer Brandon Smith also pur Honest Frank on notice at 'Gang Wars', what does Smith have in store for the former Empire Champion this month?

The Fighting Irish reunited at Gang Wars, gaining retribution following a heinous attack by Borne To Riot on Crockett Tubbs a month earlier. After an impressive debut victory, the Irish boys have been granted a title shot at the Old School Principals. The Fighting Irish are former 3-time NOTBPW Tag Team Title holders, can they add the NYCW Tag Team Titles to their resume?

Speaking of former title holders, The Ring Generals look to bounce back straight away from losing their COTT World Tag Team Titles as they face the young team of Phillipe LaGrenier & Hugh Ancrie. The two young Canadian talents looks to make a name for themselves in their first contest as a team.

On top of all this, Prisoner No. 6 will defend his Tri-State Regional Title against Max Mayhem, Riley McManus faces off against Geoff Borne & we see the return of Man Mountain Cahill as he faces Dermot O'Logical. Be sure not to miss out!

<p>Ok so I was out of town at the happiest mouse kingdom so I missed a few shows. I have to say that Gang Wars card was really really good. The story of Steve Flash having a career year with the COTT World, Empire and now a Sam Keith victory at the age of 49 is inspiring.</p><p> </p><p>

I also really like the idea of the Dr Sidney Basil (old school reference there) approach with Dr O’Haire. The Prisoner #6 story, the Yukon Boys and now the mean streak in the veteran Art Reed is good stuff.</p><p> </p><p>

Now that I’m caught up it’s prediction time</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Steve Flash</strong> © vs ”Demon Seed”</p><p>

[NYCW Empire Title Match]</p><p>

<strong>I don’t see the ride ending here quite yet. </strong></p><p> </p><p>

Bulldozer Brandon Smith vs <strong>Art Reed</strong></p><p>

<strong>I think a Smith vs #6 feud could be interesting but first Frank gets in the way to secure Reed the victory and I can see Reed getting a shot at Flash while Frank and Bulldozer go at it.</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>The Fighting Irish</strong> vs Old School Principals ©</p><p>

[NYCW Tag Team Title Match]</p><p>

<strong>I think school is out for the Principles even with the Irish just getting back together last month.</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Max Mayhem vs <strong>Prisoner No. 6</strong></p><p>

[NYCW Tri-State Regional Title Match]</p><p>

<strong>Max should stick to tagging, because he will be the next victim of the big guy</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Dermot O'Logical vs <strong>Man Mountain Cahill</strong></p><p>

<strong>Does Dermot ever win? If Fearless Blue or Mad Dog Mortimer come to NYCW then maybe.</strong></p><p> </p><p>

"<strong>That 90's Guy" Riley McManus</strong> vs Geoff Borne</p><p>

<strong>Borne has limited ability and a negative attitude. Yes the “mistake” was on the boss but was it a mistake? Riley wins and Borne is not long for this world. Not a huge loss</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>The Ring Generals </strong>vs The Canadian Connection</p><p>

<strong>Rebound match for the top COTT tag duo, they are never out of it long</strong></p>

Ok so I was out of town at the happiest mouse kingdom so I missed a few shows. I have to say that Gang Wars card was really really good. The story of Steve Flash having a career year with the COTT World, Empire and now a Sam Keith victory at the age of 49 is inspiring.

I also really like the idea of the Dr Sidney Basil (old school reference there) approach with Dr O’Haire. The Prisoner #6 story, the Yukon Boys and now the mean streak in the veteran Art Reed is good stuff.

Thanks Theheel! Glad you enjoyed Gang Wars :) Hope you had a great time at Disneyland (I'm assuming that's where you were!)

The Steve Flash story was entirely unplanned, but I'm really happy with the way things have panned out! Frank being deep in time decline and my worries over Smith's physical condition (which I now realise were entire unfounded) really opened the door for Flash to take the spot as lead babyface in the COTT - at least for a few months :p

Prediction Contest

Thanks to everyone who predicted for 'Uptown Beatdown'! The way I'm going to run this is that every show, the person (or people) with the highest score will earn a point. This round of predictions will run until the end of the year (in-game) at 'Ground Zero'. The predictor with the most points after Ground Zero will earn a fabulous prize!*

*Prize tbc, may or may not be fabulous.

I believe that James The Animator was the only person to get a perfect score for 'Uptown Beatdown', so is the first to earn a point in the contest.

edit: I infact can't count. Adding a point for Theheel due to a perfect score.

Prediction Results after Round One

1 point = James The Animator & The heel

0 ponts = Historian, Jaded & jameschaos

Hopefully that all makes sense, any questions let me know! Hope to see you all back for the next round!

Actually, I predicted The Old School Principals to win the NYCW Tag Team title match. So I don’t think I got a perfect score, unless you’re counting The Fighting Irish’s DQ for the champions in the contest.

No, you're entirely right! In my head because OSP retained the belts I had them as winning when I was counting up. As a thank you for your honesty I'll keep your point, but I'll add everyone else who got the tag match correct!
