It's funny how some things are the same like Sarah with the War Machine guys and some are completely different like you doing NXT as a proper brand. It's been great reading so far. Thank you Yeah I'm a big fan of factions, and Sarah being married to Rowe and having the paint, and the gimmick, makes her an obvious partner/manager for the Viking Raiders. Big things coming for the group so if you're a fan, keep a close eye on them. I like the idea of three brands. RAW and Smackdown are getting more and more different in real life. The camera work on Smackdown alone makes it feel different. But NXT is COMPLETELY different to the two 'major' shows. I think they need to be right now. Here, all three are similar. I've split the roster evenly three ways, while trying to keep NXT's core familiar. Over the next few months, NXT names will rise up the card and be the core Main Event, and then the next time I do a draft, the likes of Riddle, Gargano, Keith Lee and the Undisputed Era could well find themselves called over to RAW or Smackdown! Thanks for all your comments and predictions. I've now written out the next TWELVE shows, including Extreme Rules, and things are getting interesting. But WWE officials are thought to be high on him... New, Day Club Backstage, The New Day and The OC crossed paths, and all six men got ready for a fight... AJ Styles tried to provoke Kofi Kingston... AJ Styles: “Listen, guys... Just because Kofi lost his smile, doesn't mean you can take it out on us, and cost US Championships!!” AJ was referring to The New Day interfering in Anderson and Gallows' Tag Team Title Match against Ryder and Hawkins last week... Big E and Xavier Woods held Kofi back, but Woods answered AJ... Xavier Woods: “That was an eye for an eye after you attacked us backstage... But next week, me and E versys Anderson and Gallows... Winners go to the Royal Rumble to face Hawkins and Ryder!!” The OC liked the sound of the challenge, and they backed away along with AJ... He's coming!!” Braun Strowman's music hit, and the 'Monster Among Men' stomped to the ring... But he turned to Bray Wyatt on the screen, and shouted that he is NOT Bray's friend... Braun Strowman: “And BRAY... I want that Universal Title too... So if I win... I want a shot!! If you say no, I'll just walk to the ring... Lay down... and let Seth cover me!!” Bray was angered by Braun's comments, but he agreed to the stipulation... The two brilliant fan favourites took lumps out of each other, with both men getting their shots in. Strowman was the most aggressive, and he tried to end the match early a few times. Rollins hung in there as long as he could, but in the end he fell victim to the 'Running Powerslam'. 82 Winner: 'The Monster Among Men' Braun Strowman Finish: 'Running Powerslam' </div> Royal Rumble As soon as the match was over, the arena was plunged into darkness, and 'The Fiend' arrived!! As the lights came back a little bit, the freaky, masked alter ego of Bray Wyatt stood behind Strowman, and waited for him to turn around... When he did, 'The Fiend' locked Strowman in the 'Mandible Claw', and took 'The Monster Among Men' down to one knee!! On the outside of the ring following his defeat, Seth Rollins wasn't going to stand for this... He grabbed a steel chair, and slid back into the ring!! But Bray was ready for him, and made sure he had a 'Mandible Claw' for Seth too... Seth had brought the chair into the ring... but introducing that particular weapon soon backfired, because 'The Fiend' got hold of it... Bray destroyed the chair over Strowman and Rollins' backs, but then had something else in mind for Seth... He set the chair up upright, and grabbed 'The Architect' around the neck... Ready for 'Sister Abigail'... Then he spun backwards and hit his old finisher... Seth's throat went right across the top edge of the chair, and he landed in a heap in the corner... The lights flickered, and then went out again... When they came back on, 'The Fiend' was gone... and the show ended there... However, this is officially his final appearance before going off to film a movie!! It says he leaves in 19 days, but I'm writing him off TV now... I have no idea how long he'll be away for now, but obviously he'll be missed... Braun beating him sets up Braun and Bray at the Royal Rumble, which is the next time the men and women of RAW will be on pay-per-view... Obviously they're both former Wyatt Family members, but one of the best things about their feud is that neither of them NEED the Universal Title to be a Main Event level star, so the match and feud could go either way. They're both what I would call 'special attraction' performers. Further down the card, I'm impressed by Buddy Murphy so far, and Lio Rush made a good showing of himself too. Keep an eye on the Shelton Benjamin storyline. I've always been a big fan of Shelton's, but at 44 he's on the Time Decline. That doesn't stop him passing on some knowledge to a younger talent. Just a shame it won't be Jordan Myles or Swerve Scott... Or will it...? ** It won't be Myles. If he was 28 now, he'd be the hottest thing in the WWE right now. Buddy Murphy is the modern day Shelton, great guy backstage, great in ring, too understated on the mic to get over easily. It's still tough for those sort of guys unless you are in Japan. One day maybe the US will have a successful fed like that but I doubt it. I love both yours and alpha2117s takes on the WWE. They are both better than the real thing sadly Breezango in a upset ????, who knows but let's go with a surprise signing getting the win ????, again let's go with a surprise signing Cesaro Crews Hmmm Miz, you could be moving the Undisputed Era out of NXT and be taking the belts off all 4. It's hard to keep everyone on the roster busy and employed. The mods are set with the WWE being probably significantly underpowered which means it's hard to keep your levels up let alone to utilise everyone especially if you bring some bodies in. The LLoyd has partly solved that with the 3 Brands thing which gives a little more time booking wise. I run 5 matches every pre-show over in Stephanie - The Princess Diaries (shameless plug) which at least keeps the lower card happy and busy and gives them enough momentum that they can job every few weeks to the higher ups and I reinstated Superstars as a 1 hr B show for SMACKDOWN to give their lower card the same sort of tv time the RAW Roster gets with Main Event (the two most misleadingly named tv shows of all time as there are precious few Superstars on it and certainly no real Main Events). From the outside you see the WWE Roster and think it would be easy to book but in practice it's quite an awkward balancing act and having booked a few months now I can understand why some people disappear off tv for a few months at a time - right now I'm struggling to fit people like Elias & Corbin into meaningful feuds and I have Ricochet idling in a pre-show tag team with Cedric Alexander because I'm using Kofi and Rey in the WWE and US title feuds which means I don't really have a obvious pathway for him to a belt. I'd happily use those 3 people more but right now they don't logically have coherent feuds available nor do I have the spare time in the shows to artificially create one. The Lloyd has been a bit harsher with cuts largely because he made his dev brand a full brand -I have three NXT dev brands so I've been able to send some bodies down and a few people are simply going to be let go when their contracts come up rather than the cuts that are happening here but ultimately one way or the other some of those bodies need to go from the Main Roster. I have done a few personal saves with modern WWE, it's really hard to figure out stuff for the mid/low card except if you already had something in mind for them. I also brought back Superstars too and I would use it to give Openers/Lower Midcarders victories over local talent, so they have some sort of momentum when putting people over, kinda how WWF used to do until the Attitude Era. But they shouldn't have that many people on the roster to begin with, it's really bloated and I understand why Lloyd released some people. The Lloyd Posted December 6, 2019 Author Share Posted December 6, 2019 It's such a bloated roster, it's impossible to keep everyone on the rosters. Gran Metalik and others were just surplus to requirements. Alpha is right, three brands solves some issues (like too many main eventers, too many women, too many tag teams, etc.) and it also keeps feuds fresh. Ricochet and Kofi Kingston won't fight 1 on 1 for at least a year, as they're on different brands for example. But it doesn't solve the issue of having just too many jobbers, with low popularity. The people I've released are pretty pointless for growing the popularity of new stars, as alpha pointed out, there's a lack of 'star power' across the rosters. I could bring in John Cena, or CM Punk, but if I did, it would just be for a one off match, or a very short run. Smackdown are pretty star-studded, NXT have a few guys I can push, and the likes of Miz, Cesaro, Mysterio and Samoa Joe can help get them over. But RAW is the really interesting one. Seth Rollins has gone off to film a movie... When he comes back, his popularity has risen massively!! He'll be the most popular guy across all three rosters!! Glad people are enjoying this so far. We're just getting started with my long-term story-telling strategy. I like to think I'll be able to keep you all guessing, and will also keep you all interested. Their card was awesome though: PAC over Cody by DQ (83)... Moxley over Jericho by DQ (91)... Lucha Brothers over Private Party (77)... There were THREE matches won by DQ though! Strange one! Really happy with this show... It's probably the last time that I'll have all four members of the Undisputed Era in separate matches though, meant I had to book a lot of segments to get all my main players on the show... When I drafted the rosters, I thought: Wouldn't it be cool to have one or two veterans go to NXT to mix with their youngsters... Turns out I drafted them probably too many!! Natalya, Rey Mysterio, Samoa Joe, Bobby Lashley, R-Truth... even The Miz, Kendrick and Cesaro... They're almost all near the top of the card too. That said, the likes of Joe, Lashley, Cesaro and Rey mixing with Balor, Gargano, Cole and Riddle is exciting... I agree to some extent. He is the victim in many ways. My biggest issue with him in this diary is that I likely won't see him wrestle for a while, if ever again, and therefore will find him hard to write for. I only watch WWE and AEW (if there's time), and the very occasional NJPW Main Events, if they're big matches. Like Jericho/Omega as an example. Just look at the WWE roster as a whole and you will find about 20 people that need new wrestling jobs. On a side note, how are NXT and AEW doing rating wise? I would guest NXT has the advantage.
