The Summit [A Sequel to the Climb, CVerse]

The final bell had rang and the show was over. John sat on his sliver of the bench with a towel draped around his neck and shoulders. He had made his debut alongside his friend Ryan tonight. His main-roster debut. It was a monumental moment for his career. He was a young man from Heraklion, Crete. Heraklion’s a city of just over 300,000 people. The largest city of Crete but not a town known for its wrestling. Greece was not a haven for professional wrestling. In most parts of the country, wrestling was sideshow. It was the cartoonishness of SWF in the late 1980s. It was silly and for kids. Not for John. For John, professional wrestling was something special.

He was the son of a dentist who grew up in the shadows of the ruins of the Minoans. That is to say he grew up in the ruins of something epic. He had an understanding of the majesty of things and professional wrestling captivated that part of him even though he couldn’t admit to it publically. He couldn’t advertise it less he be viewed as somehow less than his peers. So he watched in silence. He watched on the internet. He watched Burning Hammer of the Wrestling Gods. He watched old Ring of Fire footage. He studied and he saved money from odd jobs and the compulsory military service that sent him to Cypress for a year. Then he made the move. Burning Hammer was closed and the Hinto Dojo no more. The ROF Dojo was still going strong but he had his eyes on the United States. On a company that was presenting modern pro wrestling with a classic sentiment and was consistently improving. So he moved to Denver and the Rocky Mountain School of Wrestling.

Now here he was. He considered himself to be a simple man. He liked good food, games, his girlfriend, and pro wrestling. He read some, but not as much as he’d like. He was a man that loved professional wrestling and he dedicated himself to that. He had been a professional for two years. He had worked hard over those two years to improve. Two years he had spent in Texas -- in that hot, God-forsaken land that wasn’t anything like Crete. Two years where he and his partner, a friend made during training, had won the Texas Tag Team titles twice. They had formed a good team. He’d had some competitive matches for the Junior Heavyweight Title, but he wasn’t expecting the call up. He wasn’t expecting to be on the main roster so soon. Yet here he was.

He reached for his bottle of water and he took a long drink. Despite his shower and that the building was slowly emptying out, his pulse was still racing. He was still high and not Remmy Skye’s kind of high, the kind of high you only get from performing. The kind of high that was even more addictive because not only did it it give you a rush that was immediate, it was a rush you couldn’t get over. John knew he was hooked. He had been wrestling for two years. In front of tiny crowds in small towns in Texas to thousands of screaming fans. This was his life now. His parents didn’t quite understand, but they didn’t disapprove. They just didn’t understand the appeal. They didn’t understand why their son moved 6400 miles away from his home to a strange country and an even stranger part of the country. A part of the country that had once been the frontier. That had been settled, at least by whites, that were rough and tumble. That were hardscrabble. Perhaps they weren’t too far off from Cretans. John wasn’t equipped to have that kind of discussion.

He was; however, equipped to smile and take another long drink of water. He was here. He had made it. No one could take this moment away from him. No one could say that he had not busted his ass and reached the point where he was on the main roster of a major professional wrestling organization. It was like that gangster movie from the 1980s, Scarface said, “Me, I want what’s coming to me...The world, chico, and everything in it.” For John Silver, the world was at his fingertips. He would get it through professional wrestling. Σπίτι μου σπιτάκι μου και σπιτοκαλυβάκι μου. This was his home now. His little piece of the world. His home in front of the world.

<strong>Author's Note</strong>: I would like to thank <strong>willr0ck</strong>, who surprised me the other day with some brand new CWL stuff. A new logo, a new banner, and two new belts. The GWC World Heavyweight Belt that was debuted on this show, and a new United States Title that you can see on the Table of Contents page. You can see the new logo there too, with the new logo and banner, you'll notice that the show layouts are going to be different than what has been used for quite some time as to fit the color scheme/layout.

If you knew absolutely nothing of this diary and only the default CVerse in 2016, Riley looks so out of place in that absolute star studded main event, Spade is THE prospect in the CVerse so everyone already knows how good he becomes. Riley is the guy who had an absolute miracle run to the top among giants

EDIT: CWL video game, I’m taking Ballistic and running through everyone. Lightning bruisers are always overpowered in wrestling games.

Hurakan and Hijo Del Relámpago versus Precious Metals

  • The opening match of this episode of Triumph pit the newly arrived team of Precious Metals against a makeshift team of two luchadors.
  • Hurakan continues to show potential to be a break outstar and a major player for CWL whereas Relámpago’s body continues to give out on him.
  • Silver and Steel showcased some great team work and controlled the ring, isolating Hurakan for a large portion. The young luchador took a great beating from the two men.
  • Hurakan made the tag to Relámpago, but he immediately got hit with the Silver Shocker, a Springboard Ace Crusher[/i] that got Precious Metals their second straight win on the main roster.

In a bout that had decent wrestling but didn't have much heat, Precious Metals defeated Hurakan and Hijo Del Relámpago in 7:39 when John Silver defeated Hijo Del Relámpago by pinfall with a Silver Shocker.

Eileen Cureton versus Isabeau Grenier

  • Cureton is currently working for TGL and this was looked at as a potential opportunity for her to raise her stock. She’s just entering her second year as a pro, having graduated from the Supreme Wrestling University in May of 2023.
  • Grenier continues to impress with dominant performances. While the crowd was familiar with Cureton from her TGL work, they didn’t know how to respond to her right off the bat, whereas they knew how to respond to the viciousness of Grenier’s assault on Cureton.
  • Grenier hit her Wonder F-5 and ended the match rather quickly.

In a bout that had decent wrestling but didn't have much heat, Isabeau Grenier defeated Eileen Cureton in 5:38 by pinfall with a Wonder F-5.

Bradley D versus R.W. Vega

  • A good junior heavyweight contest here. Bradley D and R.W. Vega put on a good cruiserweight showcase.
  • Vega has incredible balance and he used that to his advantage for some moves where he walked down the top rope before jumping off of it.
  • Bradley D sold all of Vega’s high impact moves and really took a beating from the masked man.
  • Bradley made a big comeback -- and while not particularly known for his high flying, he is an all arounder who hit a beautiful Beastly Bulldog, a springboard Bulldog that looks devastating out of nowhere and got the big victory after a very solid contest.

In a bout that had good wrestling but didn't have much heat, Bradley D defeated R.W. Vega in 10:18 by pinfall with a Beastly Bulldog.

The Heartbreak Express versus Wesley Browning & Franklin Rush

  • The second of three tag team matches on Triumph was different than the first one in that it was slower paced and definitely focused on the classic tag team style match.
  • The Express, former two-time Tag Team Champions looked great early on in the contest with their slick teamwork and speed helping the two young men take control early.
  • Rush and Browning are no stranger to breaking the rules and they did so in this contest to gain control.
  • They worked over Ralph for the bulk of the match and kept Johnny out of the ring -- out of the action, and ultimately they stopped Ralph in mid-comeback with Browning hitting his Phantom Bulldog to get the win.

In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Franklin Rush and Wesley Browning defeated The Heartbreak Express in 11:13 when Wesley Browning defeated Ralph Liotta by pinfall with a Phantom Bulldog.

Wesley Browning was the weak link, struggling to keep up with everyone else's in-ring performance.

Pearl Flanders versus Marie Punnen

  • Another match that pit one of TGL’s top women, this time the experienced Marie Punnen, against a main roster force.
  • Flanders controlled this match with her size and power and while Punnen had moments where she looked particularly dangerous, this match was mostly Flanders showcasing her farm-girl strength.
  • The powerhouse, who reminds some of retired AAA wrestler Ellie May Walton, hit a stalling suplex where she held Punnen up for forty-five seconds.
  • She followed that up with a Running Lariat that turned Punnen inside out and got the convincing victory.

In a bout that had decent wrestling but didn't have much heat, Pearl Flanders defeated Marie Punnen in 6:50 by pinfall with a Running Lariat.

Ash Campbell cut a backstage promo hyping next week’s clash with Jeffery Aroma. Campbell knows the big man wants a piece of him, but Campbell also knows that Triumph his his domain and he will prove that next week.

“The Troubadour” Floyd Reeves versus “The Butcher” Alexander Vasquez ©

  • The Television Championship match did not disappoint at all.
  • Reeves is one of the unsung heroes of the CWL roster and the young man has developed into a great talent who really has a command of in-ring psychology and Vasquez is a rumored protege of Robert Oxford who greatly benefitted from the time he spent with the now-retired agent.
  • They crafted a great narrative of Vasquez trying to take apart Reeves’ arm, but Reeves refused to let him get a hold of him.
  • Reeves hit a wicked headbut that looked like it almost took Vasquez’ head off, but the champion was able to narrowly avoid getting beat.
  • Vazquez was able to hit a Side Blaster and get the victory.

In a bout that had superb wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Alexander Vasquez defeated Floyd Reeves in 11:31 by pinfall with a Side Blaster. Alexander Vasquez makes defence number 5 of his CWL Television title.

Mikey James & Leon Pena versus American Muscle ©

  • The Tag Team Title match really captivated the audience. Barrage had new facepaint so he and Ballistic look more alike.
  • In our third tag team match -- this was power versus speed. James and Pena, two junior heavyweights, against two muscular power houses that have been dominating the tag team division.
  • James and Pena struck hard and fast and tried to stay out of reach of the bigger men.
  • The champions were able to take control of the match and their power was all the difference.
  • James and Pena continue to look like an excellent tag team with some natural chemistry, but chemistry that they are continued to build with some double team moves that play off James’ striking ability and Pena’s lucha background.
  • The Star Face Slam from Ballistic to Pena was the difference maker and American Muscle got the successful defense.

In a bout that had great wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, American Muscle defeated Mikey James and Leon Pena in 18:14 when Ballistic defeated Leon Pena by pinfall with a Star Face Slam. American Muscle make defence number 2 of their CWL Tag Team titles.

Barrage was the weak link, struggling to keep up with everyone else's in-ring performance.
