Historian
When my father told me he was retiring, I didn’t know what to think. How could he retire? How could a man as successful as he was want to retire? He had wrestled until he was fifty-two and then he was an agent and then he became an owner and booker of a wrestling company. He was incredibly successful. He had built a legacy and had built a nest egg for himself. I was proud of my father. Proud of what he had accomplished. He was a good man, a good father and a good grandfather and he deserved to retire and spend time with my mom. What I didn’t expect was him to leave the company to myself, KC, and Riley. And Ricky and Pete. They were there to help too, but KC, Riley and me? We were the Triumvirate. The Trust. Despite dad retiring at the conclusion of Wrestling Summit IX, he had booked the next couple episodes of television. He had given us something to get used to the new responsibilities and to settle into our roles. The task was monumental, but we were equal to it. ---------------------- I couldn’t believe how my career had developed. In 2016, I was on the verge of walking away from the business I loved. My career had been going nowhere. I was stuck, but Robert Oxford gave me a shot. Originally, I was just supposed to be a good hand on the roster. A valuable technician that could help flush out a roster of guys with little experience or some deficits in skill. It was supposed to be Jebedia’s company, not mine. Tragedy struck and I got thrust into a role I never thought I’d get. That was years ago. Nine years ago. Now Robert Oxford was retired and telling me to help book the company that had given me so much. It had given me a new lease on life. It had given me a chance to fall in love with the woman who would become my wife and is now carrying our first child. Now I had the opportunity to put another notch in my belt. I had been here for the entire Climb. Now that we were at the Summit, I had been tasked to help us stay there. I wasn’t in it alone, but it was a task I took seriously. Author's Note: In 2018, I started a diary called The Climb. It was moderately successful [okay, it was pretty successful.]. In September, the Climb ended with it the company reaching national and Robert Oxford retiring. It's been several months since then and I've tried a TIER-1 diary that was fun but couldn't hold me and an FCW diary that just wasn't able to fill the void. The WWA and SCCW diaries that I participate in are still alive but they are projects of both DarK_RaideR and myself and aren't as narrative-focused as the Climb had been. So, now I bring this offering to the forums. I bring a sequel. Oxford has retired. What's left provides new roads to travel. We will pick up a month after Oxford's retirement. I hope you will join me on this journey. I hope you will stand on the Summit with me.

Historian
In 2015, Tommy Cornell sold Total Championship Wrestling to BriCo and left to move back to England and help 21CW with their international expansion. This move shocked the wrestling world. What would happen to TCW? It turned out, BriCo appointed Kyle Rhoades as CEO and replaced longtime booker Joel Bryant with Brent Hill. At the time, Robert Oxford was serving as the lead agent/producer for TCW and Tommy's lieutenant. He was left at a crossroads with a very difficult choice. Did he continue on with the new regime or did he try something different? He decided to try something different. He uprooted his family from Burbank, California and headed back to his hometown of Denver. He invested in a closed down retail space and started both a wrestling promotion and a wrestling school -- Rocky Mountain Wrestling and Rocky Mountain School of Wrestling. They were just a local operation at first, but Robert felt that with good booking, solid workers and consistency they could develop into something. He started off with a roster of thirteen wrestlers, none of whom were working full time for any other organization. Their first show was ‘The Climb’. It featured a fifteen man battle royal with Hardcore Killah and Steve Flash making special appearances for the rabid crowd of seventy-six people. At the end of The Climb, former RIPW USA Champion, “The Amish Mountain”, Jebediah eliminated three people including legendary wrestler Steve Flash to become the first Rocky Mountain Heavyweight Champion. Jebediah’s title run was the establishing run -- he was the focal point of early shows [he had wrestled twice on The Climb]. He main evented the first five shows, with singles matches against Hardcore Killah, Jack Griffith, and two with Shady K. In May of 2016, at Coal Miner’s Glove, Jebediah lost the Rocky Mountain Heavyweight Championship to Shady K. Tragically, the big man died the next day in a car accident that rocked the wrestling world. With the passing of Jebediah, Rocky Mountain Wrestling had to find a new babyface focal point. Shady K was champion and Rocky Mountain Wrestling had its first graduate, ‘The Mennonite Mammoth’ Jakob Yoder. The big man was picking up steam heading into the first ever Gold Rush where he faced off against Hellion in the tournament semi finals He came up short, as American Hellspawn won the first ever Gold Rush tournament -- but both men were signed by SWF and again Rocky Mountain was left looking for someone to be the face of the organization. Attention turned to “The Georgia Bulldog” Riley McManus. The technician was handsome, had come to some notoriety in Mid Atlantic Wrestling as a really good hand and he was putting on consistent performances for RMW. At Gold Rush I, he faced off against Roderick Remus for the COTT World Heavyweight Championship but came up short when Shady K and his tag team partner, Knuckles, interfered. This led into a feud between McManus and Shady K that culminated with Riley McManus winning the Rocky Mountain Heavyweight Championship at Halloween Throwdown and then beat Shady K at Thanksgiving Thunder in a match that sent Shady K out of Rocky Mountain Wrestling. McManus would hold the Rocky Mountain Heavyweight Championship until July of 2017 when he went up against “The Evolution” Primus Allen. Primus Allen had been competing for SWF before he was released and found himself employed by Robert Oxford. The big man entered into Bowen Services and unseated Riley as the new King of the Mountains. While Primus Allen became champion, Riley McManus went on to win the second Gold Rush tournament and form a team with KC Glenn that won the Rocky Mountain Tag Team Championships and the first ever Oxford Invitational tournament. This was when Rocky Mountain Wrestling began to carve out their own identity. They were the home of outcasts from SWF, USPW, and TCW but they were also developing their own talent. Riley McManus was the gold standard, but Clyde Puder, Franklin Rush & The Devil’s Rejects came onto the roster. In their third year, RMW began running two shows a month. This allowed them to feature talent from their dojo on one while continuing to develop their brand on the other. It was at this time that Logan Diaz began to really take hold. He had come to RMW in their first year after PSW let him goal. The muscular Logan Diaz was the perfect compliment to Riley McManus. As Rocky Mountain Wrestling continued to grow, they would have talent leave for big money contracts, but they continued to produce high quality shows. Guys like The Mission, The Keiths, David Stone, Cameron Vessey and more began to call Rocky Mountain Wrestling home. In 2021, Rocky Mountain Wrestling hit the fabled 'Cult' status and rebranded as Continental Wrestling League. As the CWL, they have launched a weekly television show 'Saturday Night Slammasters' and are continuing their old school brand of professional wrestling mixed with high quality promos and guys who just love the business. For three years, Continental Wrestling League presented high quality wrestling television with Saturday Night Slammasters until they reached national. Upon the milestone, Robert Oxford retired. They reached the Summit... but can they stay there? Some of the most enjoyable narratives to read on the boards. Looking forward to how CWL does at the National level

Let us not fool ourselves, it's been his best and most successful diary and although we do have a couple of joint projects going, after TIER-1 and FCW stopped, he sorely lacked a solo diary he could play at his own pace and write using his own unique style. The Climb was about starting from scratch and making it all the way to National, really excited to follow its new foray into the big leagues! Historian
Continental Wrestling League has officially announced the brackets for the seventh annual Oxford Invitational. The Oxford Invitational has become the premier Tag Team tournament in the United States and each company from the Global Wrestling Council sends a team to compete in the tournament. Last year, the Heartbreak Express shocked the wrestling world with a win in the tournament -- a win that catapulted them as a team and helped them become North American Tag Team Champions. This year, the winning team will get a shot at the GWC World Tag Team Championships -- currently held by Cameron Vessey & Casey Valentine, collectively known as C-V-2. This year, the field is stacked. Not only are the reigning North American Tag Team Champions, American Muscle, in the tournament, the tag champions from OLLIE, PGHW, and APW are in this tournament while the representatives from UEW and NOTBPW are highly respected teams and the Cornell Family, representing BPW, looks to win their first collective gold. It will be a high-octane, heavily competitive tournament. We hope we can count on you to order the two-night event!

We are coming to you live from the Utah Park Reservation with over fourteen thousand fans in attendance. I’m Lee Bambino and I’m joined in the broadcast booth, as always, by the legendary Sheriff of professional wrestling, former World’s Champion Ricky Dale Johnson. Ricky, who do you like in this tournament?” RDJ, “That’s a great question Lee and before I answer it I want to say how excited I am to be here. I love tag team wrestling. When I broke into this business in the Texas Wrestling League, I was one half of a tag team and it really taught me a lot and tag team wrestling has always had a special place in my heart. The Oxford Invitational is, in my opinion, the premier tag team tournament in the world. Tonight, sixteen of the best teams in the world come together with one goal -- earn a shot at the World Tag Team Titles. And to answer your question Lee, I don’t know. I like American Muscle -- the North American Tag Team Champions and number one seed. They’ve really been on fire recently and I think they could make a deep run to the tournament and win the whole thing, but there is a lot of experience in this tournament. Last year’s winners The Heartbreak Express could be looking to rebound and win back-to-back years. The winningest team in CWL history, the Devil’s Rejects could be looking to get themselves back on the right track. Then you’ve got the best European team in history, the German Machine, you’ve got the Cornell Cousins, you’ve got Australia’s top team in Dingo and Boo… So many great teams. It is impossible to pick a favorite.” Bambino, “You might be right there. Plus, we have several teams that are unknowns as a team that qualified on Saturday Night Slammasters. Who knows what teams like Mikey James and Leon Pena or Marshall Dillon and Texas Hangman are going to be capable of. They could shock the world in this tournament.” RDJ, “They absolutely could. That’s what I love about tournaments and tag team wrestling. It is the embodiment of any given Sunday -- or in this case Any Given Friday and Any Given Saturday!” Bambino, “We do regret to inform you that the Wild Cats and the team of Tomonaga & Nawabe were unable to make it here tonight. Both teams had difficulty with their air travel -- so the winners of the Cornell Family and the Cummos match up will receive a second-round bye.” RDJ, “That could be a game-changing advantage for either team!” Bambino, “It certainly could be and now let’s head ringside for our opening contest.” Opening Match Tag Team Match Twenty Minute Time Limit Oxford Invitational Opening Round American Muscle versus The Devils Rejects The first match of the seventh annual Oxford Invitational was a good way to start off. The reigning North American Tag Team Champions, American Muscle, were in action against the secondary team of the Devil’s Rejects. Louis Tully & Brett Dewes are two good young, big, heavy hitters who both spent time in RIPW getting seasoning and have had some moderate success since coming back to the CWL, but tonight belonged to American Muscle. Ballistic, the former Eddie Carter, in particular, was really on top of his game and since donning the face paint and cutting his hair he has really found a new gear to his work. Tully and Dewes had some good moments, but Ballistic hit the Star Face Slam on Dewes and American Muscle punched their ticket to the second round. In a bout that had decent wrestling but didn't have much heat, American Muscle defeated The Devils Rejects in 7:37 when Ballistic defeated Brett Dewes by pinfall with a Star Face Slam. Ballistic carried the match in terms of in-ring performance. Tag Team Match Twenty Minute Time Limit Oxford Invitational Opening Round Bradley D & O.J. They have four sets of tag team titles, Brecher has won the UEW Heavyweight Title twice and the VWA Swiss title swice while Grimm has also been the UEW Nations Champion. Bradley D and O.J. are two young workers from the Rocky Mountain School of Wrestling that have shown a lot of promise and a lot of fire. O.J. twice won the Texas Junior Heavyweight Championship and he and Bradley were looking for a big win here. Unfortunately, the grind-it-out style of the German Machine was too much. The two big, powerful Germans just asserted their will, particularly on the smaller O.J. Morris. Brecher was able to lock in the Brecher Stretch -- one of the most feared submission holds in all of professional wrestling and the man known as The Juice had to surrender. In a bout that had decent wrestling but little heat, The German Machine defeated Bradley D and O.J. Morris in 8:15 when Lars Brecher defeated Bradley D by submission with a Brecher Stretch. Ralph Grimm was the weak link, struggling to keep up with everyone else's in-ring performance. Tag Team Match Twenty Minute Time Limit Oxford Invitational Opening Round The Heartbreak Express versus The Aces Last year’s Oxford Invitational winners, the Heartbreak Express, were up against the former two-time Canadian Tag Team Champions, The Aces. The veteran Canadian duo controlled the match for most of the action while the Heartbreak Express did what they do best -- sell. The decorated American duo took a beating but Needham managed to hit a big dropkick and then an even bigger Moonsault and the Heartbreak Express were advancing in the tournament. In a bout that had good wrestling but little heat, The Heartbreak Express defeated The Aces in 8:56 when Johnny Needham defeated Jared Johnson by pinfall with a Moonsault. Tag Team Match Twenty Minute Time Limit Oxford Invitational Opening Round Shaw & Yoder versus Shadaloo These two teams are no strangers to one another. They’ve had some wars in the best as Yoder and Bison feuded over the Television Championship. This match picked right up where they left off in the past. It was fast-paced and physical and showcased the kind of style that CWL has been championing. Solid, fundamental wrestling with the blend of modern physicality and traditional wrestling storytelling. These two teams were wonderful at it and when Shaw took a big fall from the apron to the floor, Bison and Vega hit a huge double suplex on the three hundred fifty-nine pound Yoder and then Bison made the pinfall and Shadaloo punched their ticket to a match with the Heartbreak Express. In a bout that had great wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Shadaloo defeated Shaw & Yoder in 10:15 when Sgt. Bison defeated Jakob Yoder by pinfall. Singles Match Thirty Minute Time Limit Talia Quinzel versus Lauren Easter © Since winning the title in December, Lauren has been a fighting champion. She’s defended against Nadia Snow, Queen Amazon, Steph Blake and now Talia Quinzel. The former Canadian Women’s Champion has looked like she could rival Alicia Strong for the title of the best women’s wrestler in North America. Quinzel, known mostly for her tag teamwork, came out with something to prove. At six feet tall, she had a significant reach advantage of the smaller Easter and she put it to use. She also lived up to the nickname The Mistress of the Backbreaker when she hit several backbreaker variations on Easter -- but ultimately it was Easter’s Figure Four Leglock that secured the submission and her fourth title defense. In a bout that had great wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Lauren Easter defeated Talia Quinzel in 12:41 by submission with a Figure Four Leglock. Lauren Easter makes defence number 4 of her CWL Women's title. Tag Team Match Twenty Minute Time Limit Oxford Invitational Opening Round Mikey James & Leon Pena versus The Devil’s Rejects James and Pena are an inexperienced tag team -- the qualified two weeks ago on Saturday Night Slammasters whereas the combination of Keith Holly and Johnny Anderson have five times been North American Tag Team Champions, they’ve also been the COTT World Tag Team Champions, they have won the Oxford Invitational in the past and each man has each held singles gold with Holly being a former United States Champion and Anderson being a former Television Champion. Pena has also been a Television Champion and James has been a World’s Junior Heavyweight Champion. This was an incredibly competitive match up with Pena getting pummeled by Anderson and Holly for the bulk of the match -- the two big bikers having their way with the Latin American Sensation until Pena made a big tag to James and James came in like a houes of fire and eventually hit that Scything Side Kick on Johnny Anderson and James & Pena shocked the world by getting a victory here. In a bout that had great wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Mikey James and Leon Pena defeated The Devil's Rejects in 9:37 when Mikey James defeated Johnny Anderson by pinfall with a Scything Side Kick. Tag Team Match Twenty Minute Time Limit Oxford Invitational Opening Round Dingo & Boo versus Marshall Dillon & Texas Hangman The reigning APW Tag Team Champions were in action here against a team that qualified on Saturday Night Slammasters. Dillon and Hangman are both big brawlers from Texas and the veteran Dillon looks like he could be a good mentor for Texas Hangman. This was a very physical, brawl heavy match up that saw Dillon lariat Dingo so hard he flew through the ropes to the outside and Texas Hangman choke slammed Boo Smithson so hard the ring shuck and our second make-shift team qualified for the second round. In a bout that had sub-par wrestling and little heat, Marshall Dillon and Texas Hangman defeated Dingo & Boo in 7:03 when Texas Hangman defeated Boo Smithson by pinfall with a Choke Slam. Marshall Dillon carried the match in terms of in-ring performance. Tag Team Match Twenty Minute Time Limit Oxford Invitational Opening Round The Cummos versus The Cornell Family With the early announcement that this match will give the winner a second round bye, there was a new found energy. The Cummos have experienced some major successes in their careers -- having been former North American Tag Team Champions, but they have also struggled to maintain consistent momentum as they have had to battle more veteran opponents. The Cornell Family is an incredibly popular duo that was united by Tommy Cornell’s surprise jump to 21CW, but they are a team that has never actually won tag team gold. This was a very good match up, with the Cornell Family and Luis Cummo in particular looking like they came for the spotlight. Despite being on the wrong side of forty, Tommy still has the mind to control a crowd and if Edward’s last name was Cornell, he’d probably be held in a much higher esteem. Tommy dumped Luis out of the ring and Edward hit Kurt with the Black Lightning Bomb and the Cornell family was now into the semi-finals of the tournament. In a bout that had great wrestling and good heat, The Cornell Family defeated The Cummos in 7:51 when Edward Cornell defeated Kurt Cummo by pinfall with a Black Lightning Bomb. Kurt Cummo was the weak link, struggling to keep up with everyone else's in-ring performance. The United States Champion and Cornerstone of the Continental Wrestling League, Riley McManus is backstage in front of the CWL backdrop with the championship draped over his shoulder. He looks at the championship and then at the camera. McManus, “Tonight I have a challenge that I’ve never faced before. Tonight, I’m getting in the ring with an accomplished luchador, a man who made his name South of the border as one of the most skilled luchadors in the world and now he’s here in the Continental Wrestling League and he is coming for his championship. I have never been a man to back down from any challenges and tonight will be no different. Tonight I will begin my journey towards being known as the greatest United States Champion in CWL history. I have no ill will towards Dragón Americano, but I want to be remembered as the greatest wrestler in the history of this company. I love this company. I bleed this company and tonight my next chapter begins.” Singles Match Thirty Minute Time Limit Dragón Americano versus “The Cornerstone” Riley McManus © Americano made his name in Mexico where he worked thirteen years for OLLIE and three years for SOTBPW -- and despite being there for so long, he has built a small name in the United States thanks to SOTBPW’s exposure. The fans were still getting used to Americano -- while Riley was really on top of his game and was leading this match up. It was a good blend of the technical wrestling that Riley has made popular, Americano got to use his fluid lucha style and it made for a very competitive match that ended when Riley cut off an attempted springboard attack and turned it right into a Slingshot Suplex. In a bout that had great wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Riley McManus defeated Dragón Americano in 14:02 by pinfall with a Slingshot Suplex. Riley McManus makes defence number 1 of his CWL United States title. The North American Champion, Wolf Hawkins, was backstage hyping his match with Cameron Vessey. Hawkins was fired up for his first title defense. He wanted to prove that his victory over Torment was not a fluke and that he is here to be the standard bearer for the company and carry the North American Championship with pride. </div> Main Event Singles Match Sixty Minute Time Limit Cameron Vessey versus Wolf Hawkins © Cameron Vessey is currently one half of the World Tag Team Champions and is one of the best wrestlers on the planet and this is the first time he and Wolf Hawkins have stood across the ring from one other. The two men tore the house down. They worked slow and methodical with Cameron Vessey went right at Hawkins neck to set up for the Vessey Driver II. Every move that Vessey hit targeted the neck and the crowd was really into it. They were into Hawkins come back. Vessey flew around for it too and made Hawkins look incredible and when Hawkins hit the Full Moon Rising, the building exploded and Hawkins made his first successful title defense. In an exceptional match, Wolf Hawkins defeated Cameron Vessey in 23:51 by pinfall with a Full Moon Rising. Wolf Hawkins makes defence number 1 of his CWL North American Heavyweight title. Last night we saw the first round of the tag team tournament and tonight we will finish the sixteen team tournament. Who will survive and host the prestigious trophy in the end? We will find out tonight.” RDJ, “And don’t forget Lee, the World Title is on the line tonight as Casey Valentine looks to challenge reigning champion Ross Henry for the most prestigious championship in the world. It’s going to be an incredible night of professional wrestling.” Bambino, “It certainly is. We are going to start tonight off with a 20 Woman Battle Royal for number one contendership to Lauren Easter and her Women’s Championship. Who will leave with an opportunity to challenge her? Plus a six-man-scramble for the Junior Heavyweight Division to see who could potentially challenge for the World Junior Heavyweight Championship in the future. This is a night with things on the line and let’s get right to it.” Opening Match No Time Limit 20 Woman Battle Royal Number One Contender to the North American Women's Championship Featuring: Alicia Strong, Alina America, Amber Allen, Brooke Tyler, Colleen Appleseed, Danielle Sweatheart, Isabeau Grenier, Jaime Quine, Jessica Montoya, Laura Flame, Linda Crump, Maria Guest, Nadia Snow, Pearl Flanders, Ruth Macy, Selina Svelte, Steph Blake, Talia Quinzel, Teresa Newton, Zoe Ammis Every woman employed by CWL, save for Lauren Easter, the champion, and the injured Queen Amazon was in this match. It was classified as a Mayhem battle royal, meaning that pinfalls and submissions also counted. Three former women’s champions were in this match -- two-time champion Alicia Strong (who is also one half of the Women’s Tag Team Champions), Brooke Tyler (who is also one half of the Women’s Tag Team Champions), Pearl Flanders, Jaime Quine (who is also a two-time champion. It was a competitive match but like any battle royal, the fans weren’t super invested until we got down to the final four. Throughout the match, Quinzel was dominant -- she eliminated half of the field herself after hitting a wide variety of backbreakers. Quine was left alone with three of the nastiest women on the planet, Strong, Snow, and Quinzel. Somehow Quine managed to survive all four and after pinning Alicia Strong she guaranteed herself a shot at Lauren Easter. In a bout that had decent wrestling but didn't have much heat, Jaime Quine won a 20 Man Mayhem in 20:17. The other members of the 'final four' were Alicia Strong, Nadia Snow and Talia Quinzel, with Alicia Strong being the final elimination. Talia Quinzel got the most eliminations over the course of the match. Tag Team Match Thirty Minute Time Limit Oxford Invitational Quarter Finals American Muscle versus German Machine The first match of the quarter finals pit the ultra-physical European duo against the reigning North American Tag Team Champions. This was a tough match across the board, with Lars and Ralph isolating Barrage. They worked him over and really tried to stretch him out and were having some success when Ballistic made the hot tag and came in like a house of fire. Something about the paint on his face and the muscle mass he has been gaining, but Ballistic has been on fire recently. He cleaned house and hit Lars Brecher with a Star Face Slam and American Muscle is on to the semi-final round. In a bout that had decent wrestling but little heat, American Muscle defeated The German Machine in 11:51 when Ballistic defeated Lars Brecher by pinfall with a Star Face Slam. In terms of in-ring work, Ballistic was head and shoulders above everyone else. Tag Team Match Thirty Minute Time Limit Oxford Invitational Quarter Finals The Heartbreak Express versus Shadaloo Next up, former two-time Tag Team Champions and last year’s Oxford Invitational Tournament winners were up against Shadaloo. It wasn’t a super long match, but it was a barn-burner. It was fast paced with action all over the place and despite a crowd that was a little out of it, they worked hard. Needham missed his trademark Moonsault and Bison hit him with the Boosted Reaper Choke Slam and that was it. Shadaloo scored a major upset and is headed to a match up with American Muscle. In a bout that had great wrestling but didn't have much heat, Shadaloo defeated The Heartbreak Express in 8:41 when Sgt. Bison defeated Ralph Liotta by pinfall with a Boosted Reaper Choke Slam. Tag Team Match Thirty Minute Time Limit Oxford Invitational Quarter Finals Mikey James & Leon Pena versus Marshall Dillon & Texas Hangman Two teams that are considered makeshift teams, but both managed to make it to the second round. James and Dillon really looked like stars and Pena held his own. It’s clear that Hangman is still developing, but at 6’7” he’s got nothing but upside and with a veteran like Dillon, his inexperience can be hid a little bit. Dillon missed a lariat attempt and Pena hit him with a big huricanrana to the outside of the ring. This opened up Mikey James to catch Hangman with a Scything Side Kick and James and Pena are on to a match up with The Cornell Family. In a decent match, Mikey James and Leon Pena defeated Marshall Dillon and Texas Hangman in 11:24 when Mikey James defeated Texas Hangman by pinfall with a Scything Side Kick. Texas Hangman was the weak link, struggling to keep up with everyone else's in-ring performance. Six Man Scramble Thirty Minute Time Limit KC Glenn versus Ant-Man versus "The Butcher" Alexander Vasquez versus Hurakan versus Larry McFly versus Miller Fforde This was a wild and crazy high-spot match that looked like it probably would have been more suited for a CZCW show than a typical CWL show. All six men are junior heavyweights and all six went out of their way to hit as many big moves as they could fit into the twelve minutes they were out there. KC Glenn, who along with Alexander Vasquez, make up the biggest stars in this match, hit his Tune Up the Sunshine Band on Ant-Man and got the victory. In a bout that had decent wrestling but didn't have much heat, KC Glenn defeated Ant-Man, Hurakan, Alexander Vasquez, Larry McFly and Miller Fforde in 12:09 when KC Glenn defeated Ant-Man by pinfall with a Tune Up The Sunshine Band. In terms of in-ring work, KC Glenn was head and shoulders above everyone else. Tag Team Match Forty-Five Minute Time Limit Oxford Invitational Semi Finals American Muscle versus Shadaloo The first of two quarter-finals matches. The Champs versus two men who would like to be in the title picture. The crowd came a live a bit for this match and American Muscle continued to impress as Barrage continued to take a beating, but Ballistic continued to provide the save and once again he hit the Star Face Slam and American Muscle is headed to the finals. In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, American Muscle defeated Shadaloo in 9:05 when Ballistic defeated R.W. Vega by pinfall with a Star Face Slam. Barrage was the weak link, struggling to keep up with everyone else's in-ring performance. Tag Team Match Forty-Five Minute Time Limit Oxford Invitational Semi Finals The Cornell Family versus James & Pena The second quarter-final pit James and Pena -- who have already wrestled tonight were up against the fresh duo of The Cornell Family -- and the freshness of the Cornell Family really showed and paid off. James and Pena were slower than they normally would be and showed the effects of wrestling two bruisers like Dillon & Hangman. Tommy and Edward controlled the pace and asserted their will on the smaller member. Edward hit his Black Lightning Bomb on Leon and the Cornell Family is headed to the finals against American Muscle. In a superb match, The Cornell Family defeated Mikey James and Leon Pena in 9:17 when Edward Cornell defeated Leon Pena by pinfall with a Black Lightning Bomb. Singles Match Thirty Minute Time Limit "The Hillbilly Hammer" Clyde Puder versus Ash Campbell Clyde Puder and Ash Campbell was the kind of wild brawl that CWL has repopularized. The kind of brawl that doesn’t rely on weapons or big stunts to tell the story. Just two men beating the hell out of each other. Several times during the match, Puder showed a nastier side of himself -- a side we are not used to seeing here in the CWL. A frustrated side. Every time he couldn’t put Ash Campbell away, he put a little extra salt on the next attack. Ash managed to roll Clyde up and got a big handful of overalls. Puder was clearly very frustrated by another failure. In a bout that had great wrestling and good heat, Ash Campbell defeated Clyde Puder in 13:51 by pinfall with a handful of tights. Semi Main Event Tag Team Match Sixty Minute Time Limit American Muscle versus The Cornell Family The finals of the tournament -- the North American Tag Team Champions versus the Cornell Family. American Muscle was clearly feeling the effects of two matches before this one. Their bodies were covered in welts and they were sluggish and while the Cornell Family did wrestle James and Pena recently, they are the fresher team. The crowd was really into this match -- they were firmly being American Muscle, the homegrown team that they have come to really appreciate and root for over the last year whereas the Cornell Family seemed smug and cocky and took every short cut and every dirty trick they could think of. There were several near falls before Tommy Cornell hit a big snap DDT on Barrage and The Cornell Family have won the seventh annual Oxford Invitational. In a bout that had great heat and good wrestling, The Cornell Family defeated American Muscle in 16:56 when Tommy Cornell defeated Barrage by pinfall. Tommy Cornell and Edward Cornell win the Robert Oxford Invitational titles. Main Event Singles Match Sixty Minute Time Limit "Cool Hand" Casey Valentine versus "The Boss" Ross Henry © The Main Event of the evening. The World’s Championship. Two great wrestlers. Henry has been a great World Champion. Despite people initially writing him off as just a big name former athlete, since debuting in pro wrestling in 2016, Henry has proven himself to be a serious competitor with his legitimate sports background, it has only helped him. He paid his dues and he worked his way up to the top of the card. Valentine has also proven himself from a career in MAW to his stint in USPW to now where he has become a very valuable member of the roster and is currently one half of the World Tag Team Champions. Following in the tradition of big-fight-feels in the main event, these two took it slow. Valentine focused on the surgically repaired arm of Henry with a precision that Valentine is not normally known for. Henry managed to fight back and hit the Earthquake Powerslam and with Darren Smith’s three count, he had secured himself is seventh title defense in this reign. In an exceptional match, Ross Henry defeated Casey Valentine in 26:52 by pinfall with an Earthquake Powerslam. Ross Henry makes defence number 7 of his GWC World Heavyweight title. Overall Author’s Note: The show rating would have been higher but I forgot to put in the angles that I had planned for this show, so we were penalized by not having them. I don’t like to rerun shows and take my own mistakes as part of the story. </div>
