I'll try the scripting and open matches, with call in ring for the guys that can handle it.

Am I understanding you correctly if I say that the popularity is the biggest issue here, and that I need to build up guys popularity to a higher level in order to get the segment ratings needed to a) keep my size and b) keep my tv contracts?

The great thing about TEW20 is that if you set a match to be called in the ring and one (or more) workers in the match can't handle it, your road agent will tell you before you book the match. If that happens (say AJ Styles can do call in ring but Ricochet can't), remove the call in ring and just don't put anything (don't script it and don't call in ring). In that case, the stronger worker (AJ in this example) will lead the weaker worker through the match. So basically, AJ will call the match and Ricochet will follow his lead. If it's a multi-person match (say, a Money in the Bank ladder match) and you get a popup for a few of the workers, use the 'protect' note on those workers and it should help things a lot. It'll lower the match's potential rating (because everyone will be working to minimize the weaknesses of the protected parties) but it won't tank it like it would if you called it in the ring and it inevitably falls apart.

Oh and yes, you need more popular workers. It's the reason why, pre-release, people complained about the AI running WWE and constantly using part-timers (Cena, Taker, Brock, Goldberg, etc). It's because it HAD to in order to get the required ratings to maintain and/or grow popularity. Those people, as the typical "special attractions", had really high popularity compared to the rest of the roster.

Thank you very much for the insight. Is there a good way to increase both wrestlers popularities in a feud? I've found that the losing wrestler often loses pop, so it's difficult to have two young guys, for example Velveteen Dream and Andrade, in the same feud. Do I have to get their momentum hot on both ends and limit the actual matches between them until then?

Overlay different feuds to create a tangled story web, or just deploy your platoon of enhancement talents to lay down for your guys in active feuds; A loss in a PPV can easily be offset by a couple of strong performances in TV against names a notch or two lower on the card.

That way you just need one good final match and one cracking promo (pairing up your two most popular guys) and then you can have fun experimenting with the rest of the card, because they dont 'count' towards the final rating. They just build skills/momentum/popularity. The fun stuff.

I've used it extensively to get Emma May over, getting her and Alina America to 'white hot' momentum before their eventual match. Emma went over and both her and Alina are still at 'white hot' because of the angle work on subsequent shows.

EDIT: What Self suggests is gospel. I hadn't even thought about the match/angle focus, getting stuck in the weeds, as it were.

Editing Wrestlers who are Retired or on Hiatus in game?

Can we please bring back being able to change wrestlers who are on hiatus in a game world? you can't do it now in game so if someone is on hiatus that you really want you have to freaking start over and edit the wrestler from the main editing page. TEW 2016 you could edit them in the game world.

You can atleast turn your save into a database at the end of the month, edit it that way and restart from there.

I'm struggling a lot with this game. I don't know if it's me or the mod I'm using (Killing the Business), but after three shows I drop in size and fall into a slump.

Pretty much every segment I do is between 56 and 74. I'm playing as WWE, and at my first show I did, all segments except the first being part of storylines

1. Mr McMahon (pop 65) freestyle promo.

8 minutes, rated on entertainment (80 cha, 70 mic, 80 act), non-scripted.

Rating: 71

2. Street Profits vs Murphy & Theory (all 55 pop)

10 minutes, story telling, Dawkins to win, end with DQ, Street Profits have great chemistry

Rating: 59

3. Ciampa (pop 60), Gargano (pop 60), LeRae promo (pop 40)

5 mins, Ciampa and Gargano rated on entertainment (70-80 for Ciampa, 55-70 for Gargano), Candice not rated, scripted

Rating: 60

4. Ruby Riott (40) vs Natalya (60)

9 mins, Natalya to win by DQ

Rating: 58

5. Ciampa and Gargano brawl

6 mins, both rated on Fighting

Rating: 57

6. Andrade (pop 60) vs Mysterio (pop 65)

16 mins, Andrade to win by manager interference, tainted win. Andrade and Zelina have great chemistry

Rating: 55

7. Velveteen Dream and Samoa Joe promo

10 minutes, both rated on entertainment (80 for Dream, 70-80 for Joe)

Rating: 65

8. AJ Styles (pop 80) vs Ricochet (pop 65)

16 mins, Styles to win, tainted finish

Rating: 67

9. Black and Orton promo

8 mins, Black rated on entertainment (55-70, non-scripted), Orton on overness (80)

Rating: 73

10. Seth Rollins (pop 80) vs Akira Tozawa (pop 40)

16 mins, Rollins to win, decisive finish, they have great chemistry

Rating: 74

11. McIntyre attacks Rollins, Murphy and Theory interfere

9 mins, Rollins and McIntyre rated on fighting, Murphy and Theory not rated

Rating: 73

Total rating: 65

Lost popularity in 24 regions, don't have enough storylines going on.

Now, granted, the show may actually suck, I don't proclaim myself to be a good booker at all, just looking for tips and tricks on how to improve so I don't fall in size and into a slump after three shows.

Your Main issue is not having enough storylines going on, you need 5 with a heat of 70 or higher, the fact that you don't brings down the rating, the best way to build up heat in your storylines is to have angles rated on entertainment with those who have good mic skills. Also give them enough time, the game doesn't quite work like real life in the sense that a longer promo is always rated better if the person has good entertainment skills. A 7 minute Heyman promo is always going to do better than a 3 minute promo for example.

Can someone help me with momentum? I have a lot of my roster in the dumps right now, what can I do to increase their momentum "quickly"?

Something that I do a lot for guys I want to increase momentum for is put them in angles where the storyline success for them is set to "Major Success". You don't need to actually be using storylines for this to work, atleast that's what I've experienced. It's done wonders for me, there are people I've gotten from Neutral to Hot momentum whilst barely ever wrestling.

You'll also want to generally make sure they're in good matches/angles, they also get boosts from strong performances and coming off well in general.

Is it possible to turn off using storylines completely, like in TEW 2016? Right now, I can only do that by using products such as 'Non-Style Style'.

You can turn off Strict Storylines in the Options menu, which means you won't be required to do them regardless of product. It works the same as it did in 2016 I think.

How do you know when your wrestlers are improving in their skills? I know in the TEW 2016 there was an indicator like "firstname lastname is improving in performance skills" but it's not in this game apparently. Do I just have to guess?

I really want to improve their stamina levels (because they are in UEW and need to do STS shows that are over 20 mins regularly) so I'd really like to know how to do that as well, if anyone knows how.

Look at the worker's skills. Click on Stamina and look in the window to the right. It tells you what the worker's skill level was from December 2019 to the present day (though if you're years in, it'll probably truncate and show only the previous 12 months). Progression of <skill>

The improvements come in slowly over time. Basically it requires more patience but I think overall it functions the same way, getting better via experience and working with superior workers, you just have to wait a bit longer to see results.
