TCW Discussion Thread

First: Sorry for my bad englisch. Secound: I have a question regarding your preference when playing as TCW or any other company in TEW in general. Do you prefer to play as the owner or as the booker? Because some of you mentionend that the challenge to play with TCW is that the fact, that other companies are always trying to poach your top talent, which I think only can really happen when you play as the booker. I also try it at first but it is so frustrating and unrealistic, when the owner is not willing to pay like 10 to 15 % more even though your company is making a surplus of 6 to 7 figures a month and is more than capable to pay for your current and even the talents of your competitors. I watched a ingame simulation until the end of Feb 2020 and the AI of TCW almost managed to double his capital. So why is almost every owner unwillig to pay like 20.000 more for a talent? :D

I was probably going to head towards a women’s division, just not in the first 2 months of the demo. I actually locked Higa down to a written and had her move to the states, but she’ll still be working in Japan until the time/space/energy for a full division hits me. Hopefully she gets into local US shows and eventually QAW.

Most of my 2016 favorites are still free agents like Danielle Sweetheart and Foxxy LaRue. You can also ask nearly everyone in the world to be active in the USA, even at the medium size.

Soo... I always like to open up women's divisions when playing as big companies but... on TCW 2020 it seems like a bad idea as the free agent women are not very popular...

Has anyone tried to do this yet? Any good names to sign or ideas on how to book?

Go for Higa for sure. She's your star. If you can maybe sit on some contracts and wait for some USPW talent to become available to help with popularity. Electric Dreamer looks pretty talented too but she's very low on populatiry. Celeste Moon will likely be an early pick up for me too since she looks pretty good. But yeah, the popularity is rough. Maybe you can get J-Ro out of retirement?

TCW seems really fun to book! Have a buddy booking MAW and it's so much fun! He will build up a Women's Division for me, let's a go boys <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/cool.png.f00d2562b2c1d873a09323753efdb041.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

Just some notes as I started off with my first game...

Stuck with the top two feuds, Andrews/Hawkins (HW Title) & Bach/Chord. My first TV main event was a triple threat, Hawkins vs Chord vs Bach (79). Hawkins wins and receives a title shot versus Andrews as a result. Meanwhile, Chord blames Bach for losing his title opportunity, thus heating up that feud.

Instead of Mighty Meaty vs The Behemoths, I'm going straight to Mighty Mo vs Eddie Peak, with the rest of Sinner Society acting as cannon fodder for Mo. Long term hope is for Peak to put Mo over in some big, gimmicky match.

Sticking with Gauge/Benson feuding over the TV Title, but not long term. My major goal is to try and raise Gauge's popularity.

Started several tag teams from scratch to rebuild the division. One Man Army & Human Arsenal are the big one, as I consider them an immediate top contender. Also went with...

Danny Fonzarelli & Dave Diamond

Marc Speed & Matt Hocking (Troy Tornado manages to make a trio not yet named)

Jeremie Courtney & Roderick Remus

T-Bone Bright & Jack Avatar (strictly pre-show right now while building stats).

First wrestler signing was Davis Wayne Newton, who is getting the classic debut push.

Second was Frederique, because I felt like I badly needed another babyface singles wrestler with solid popularity (Fred sits at 60 to start). I'm just treating him like the career heel turned beloved veteran. He'll be thrust right into a feud with Joshua Taylor after house show monitoring revealed Taylor vs Stone is trash.

Last but not least, I paid up to bring back Ricky Dale Johnson to be the Commissioner of TCW. It cost a pretty penny, but I'm big on having an authority figure. I almost went cheap with one of TCW's current managers, but RDJ's charisma and popularity was just too enticing.

That's all the signings I'm doing for now until I have a better feel financially for the game.

Oh yeah, and Nicky Champion divorced Persephone during the first week of my game. Dunno if that's a thing everyone gets, but yeah...ya screwed up, Nicky! :D

Never posted here in my life but here goes!

Enjoyed two months of TCW for the trial, put the belt on Wolf at the First PPV with a view to Andrews getting it back in a big Total Mayhem main event, I know that doesn't work great for backstory but always prefer to have the babyface beat the heel champ at the big event. Building basically everything around Wolf because he's just the best, 90+ rated segments consistently if you let him talk, the guy's great.

Switched the tag belts to Mo/Tana and then onto The Elite real quick, I like the idea of the Syndicate lads holding the belts, going to push Mo as a singles wrestler once the full game comes out, possibly with a feud with (I think) Josh Taylor?

I've had Jay Chord go over Sammy Bach, going to run Chord vs Andrews (with Andrews to win) to determine who faces Wolf at Total Mayhem, thinking of putting Sammy with someone like Greg Gauge to help get him over.

All in all really enjoying this promotion, as someone who's never really played this game in any details and doesn't know the Cornellverse wrestlers well I think TCW is a good place to start as it's fairly clear who your top guys are and the roster isn't too bloated that people get lost in the shuffle.

Good stuff, good game imo.

Also, sorry, one other thing, I noticed in the list of PPVs that the March PPV Battleground and the November King of Kings PPV don't have logos...what's the easiest way (complete newbie as I am) to fix this?

Thanks in advance

Someone will likely make designs for those in the mod section

I usually play as owner for that reason. I tend to play more for fantasy booking than for simulation purposes, so I need the freedom to do things my way.

Hate saying this because I like them, but I really have no use for the New Wave as singles wrestlers. I've broken them up in the past and neither went anywhere and I cant see myself doing anything other than letting them leave the promotion if I don't pair them back up this time

I like the One Man Army gimmick. I see it being a lone wolf style thorn in the side of the main stable. I'm thinking Sting vs nWo, Goldberg vs Evolution, Dean Ambrose vs The Inner Circle.

A guy who resists factions in a faction heavy company.

Another thing I'm interested in doing is giving Aaron Andrews a babyface stable. His former buddy Chance Fortune and Daryl Devine come to mind as good candidates.

Always love playing TCW and as much as they are looking down the barrel, to be honest the fact they survived is good enough for me. I'm really looking forward to both the challenge of survival and building a new pool of stars. I'm not sure what I'm doing with the product so far though.

The only thing I've really made concrete so far is signing Ernest Youngman, The American Cobras & Logan Wolfsbaine to be part of the syndicate with Wolf still leading after discarding the others when he failed to regain the title. (Also use Lars-Gunnar Ekberg pic from WMMA5 for Wolfsbaine so now he's my new favourite)

<p>Need A Name For New Heel Stable</p><p> </p><p>

I discovered that Freddy Huggins has good chemistry tagging with Jay Chord and also that Jay Chord has good chemistry tagging with Joshua Taylor. So I decided to put them together as a heel stable of elitists, but I'm struggling to come up with a name. They all have their default gimmicks for 2020. Any ideas for the stable name?</p>

MAW will only take a few more development guys at the start of the game. Since I'm big on development and hiring as many projects as possible, this is a bit of a problem for me. Is starting a development company viable at the start or should I hold off for a few months?

I had an AI TCW make $3 million the first month (although this was with a high industry and economy), so financially, it seems plausible.

I pulled 2.5 million from the first PPV which can at least go to a new company, even more if you want to dig into the reserves.

I thought of having RDJ run it but that was before the patch fixed child company owners not showing up. But ideally he’s my pick to run the territory. For now he’s my commissioner though and doing damn good.

I did this and am fine financially right now

<p>Just got hit hard for my first PPV, as Wolf Hawkins broke his forearm during a pre-show match (stupid Elliot Thomas!). He could work the main event (vs Aaron Andrews) with the injury, but I'm going to pass on it. </p><p> </p><p>

That's what I get for even putting Wolf on the pre show. Admittedly, I was just toying around a little bit with the new game. </p><p> </p><p>

The plan is now to have a Battle Royal to decide a new #1 Contender for Malice in Wonderland to challenge Aaron Andrews. Eddie Peak is set to win it.</p><p> </p><p>

Works out in the end. Peak just attacked his rival Mighty Mo, so I can play it like Mo will miss a few weeks. Maybe Mo will make a shocking appearance at the PPV (wink wink). </p><p> </p><p>

This will delay the Andrews-Hawkins feud, meanwhile, which will probably lead me to stretching this feud out all the way to Total Mayhem.</p>

I bailed on my first game after Wolf went on hiatus. Started over, and things have gone better. I did tweak the product to allow high risk moves, and that seemed to help match ratings. Also hired a lot of guys. Carrying 46 active on my roster, and sent a few to development. Going to try to develop a small stable with Blackfriar and The Wild Cats doing an occult-ish gimmick. Need to find a feud for Josh Taylor. Probably going to rehash Stone v Huggins--I know it happened before the game starts, but I don't have anything better for those two right now.

<p>Stopped playing for a little due to battle royals not working(wanted to run a Rumble in January) and also to think about how to book all the new guys I got and I figured out what I want to do with The Syndicate. Wolf stays obviously, and for now Doc and Flynn do too. The Elite are gonna get bounced after the next PPV for losing too much and be replaced by the new tag team of Freddy Huggins and Ernest Youngman, the latter of which I really want to have get over. Could see myself giving Doc the boot for El Serpiante, who I just picked up, but for now I'll let him be. Another idea I had was to put Mighty Mo in it and have him turn on and squash Tana a bunch but I'd rather keep him as a face</p><p> </p><p>

Also had Hijo Del Mephisto join the Sinner Society as a midcard act I want to push. Stats are all quite good, he just needs a popularity boost and Eddie Peak on the mic should handle that quite well. Eventually I might hand the stable over to him since Eddie is basically done now.</p>

I've been thinking of doing this as well! Maybe adding Matt Hocking. Would Ace Fortune be a good name?

That's a really solid plan. Might take this and run a Total Mayhem match to extend the feud eventually

I haven't played TCW yet, but in my QAW game, I checked out their Malice In Wonderland results. First, 15,000 in a sold out venue? That's pretty impressive, at least compared to 2016.

Second, it's really awesome to see the AI book gimmick matches. I saw a First Blood match and a Dog Collar match, and I think there was one other one on that card.
