Difficulty/Learning Curve

Hey guys, I'm loving the game so far. I love the CVerse, I think it looks great, I like the controls, the menus etc etc...

But is it just me or does the game seem considerably more difficult?

Certainly there's a learning curve with all these new features and tweaks, but I pretty much only play as USPW and I'm getting my butt kicked.

Biggest company in the world, all the biggest stars, guys seem to be rated on overness more than anything... and I can't seem to get a rating higher than 65 on a show. What am I doing wrong exactly? Anyone have a help guide or a video out there on how to actually play this thing?

<p>100% it is much more difficult. I have tried 21CW, BHOTWG, USPW, SWF, CWA so far and i have struggled to get anything beyond early 70s in the ratings while the AI is KILLING IT with their ratings. Many 80 and even mid 80s in their ratings. </p><p> </p><p>

I guess it is because they have the super auto-booker that is reserved just for the AI <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

I've yet to book a card myself, trying to just find bugs and mod the game files etc. mess with editor so to hear that the game is much more challenging is amazing. For years it's been too easy and you could basically get any promotion to A-A* levels in time. :p

100% right now seems more changeling and also a ton less forgiving than 2016 and I feel doesn't do as good a job telling me what I did wrong as 2016, but I'm hoping for tweaks to fix that/ encompass a bit more flexibility with booking as people start to figure out what the game is looking for from you as the booker.

I get that there is always going to be a "most correct" way to book in a game like this and that is to make it challenging, but I also so far feel that I'm basically being forced to book a specific way or fail.

That's kind of how I felt in 2016. There was an optimal way to do things and that was that. I don't even mind that, I just want to know what the optimal way is.

It always took me so long to get an A* card. I'd need a main event with two super over workers, with white hot momentum and a top angle and then *voila*

One way to think of it:

I think myself, just some average guy who's familiar with the product, would actually be able to put on one (1) good show of pre-lockdown Monday Night RAW if they gave me the book. Maybe it wouldn't stand out but I don't see why it would be a 60 or something.

I would not be able to manage talent, manage long-term storylines, give appropriate payoff to things, keep continuity. Even if I tried really really hard in my fulltime job as Monday Night RAW booker I'd still be worse at all of that stuff than the people who put the shows together now, even acknowledging that their shows aren't great either.

You need to understand what your fans want to see and try to book accordingly.</p><p> </p><p> Also, the new angle system is a bit more challenging, but so much more realistic and rewarding, in my opinion. No longer can you just book six minute angles with everyone rated on overness and smash it out of the park. You really need to think of your angle length based on who's present and what they're doing/what you rate them on.</p><p> </p><p> I think it's fantastic.</p>

<p>I got to a point in my last TEW 2016 save where I was surprised when a match wasn't rated as a 90 or higher. I mean every match that wasn't a throwaway squash. Two midcarders over my TV title? Would regularly get 99s.</p><p> </p><p>

I'm sure my fans were spoiled and claimed the Main Event that got a 93 that one time was "the worst match they have ever seen."</p><p> </p><p>

TEW 2020 looks like it might be more difficult to get to that point, if it's even feasible anymore, which is more realistic than having every match on your weekly TV Show be a 5 star classic. When everything is a 5 star match, then is anything truly 5 stars?</p>

I’ve been struggling a lot with getting highly rated segments in 2020 but after reading over the handbook, especially the section about angles, I was able to put on a 78 rated show with SWF, including an 81 ranked main event and an 87 ranked angle. Not a great show, but significantly better than I was getting.

From what I’m starting to figure out, I don’t think that the TEW 2016 way of booking works anymore. You have to tailor each match or angle to each individual worker involved or the whole thing seems to fall apart. For example, a major star who is entertaining can carry a long entertainment based segment, but someone who is only recognizable can only carry the same segment for a few minutes before it falls apart, even if he has better “stats” in entertainment. Also, angles will be penalized for lacking any “action” (entertainment, acting, or I think fighting). We can no longer spam angles where our big heavyweights are rated on menace, for example. I won’t pretend to have a complete understanding of the games mechanics, but I’m definitely starting to get more comfortable with how the booking works.

I like it honestly. I found myself getting bored with how easily I could book B+ to A events in 2016. My only actual goal was to book the elusive 5 star match. Now I have so many ideas for how I can hopefully push specific workers. This will probably also make utilizing managers and the new stable system very important for trying to push workers who can’t carry angles by themselves, especially for those of us using sports entertainment style products.
