IndyBooster (CVerse Expansion) RELEASE

Recommended Posts

Ahoy everyone.

A few weeks back there was discussion about costs for low-end workers and how travel could really add up, especially because some areas of the independent scene could have very slender pickings for hire local. Also, what with there being few future workers, having a diverse young scene is more important than ever.

Well, I decided to put together a mod to help buff the available talent pool, creating a handful of wrestlers specifically based in many different regions.

This first release only has the USA game area completed, as it takes a fair bit of work getting everything set up and I figured it was a good way to at least show everyone the first stage. I'm planning on doing a new release for each game area, but my mojo may run out before then: it's a lot of workers to create! (On which note, if any biographies are repetitive or use the same phrases, it's cause this was a one woman job and sometimes your words run out).

I've done a couple of tests and nobody's blown up the game world after a year, so I'm willing to call it good. However, as a quick PSA remember the more workers you add to your data, the slower this can cause the game to run.

I'd like to give a huuuuuuge thank you to the renderers who gave me permission to use their work: Bull, smw88, willr0ck, King Bison, Shinsuke, shipshirt, jtlant, sockpuppet, J Silver, jhd1, Questlove - this couldn't exist without you!

If I have used your work and not credited you I sincerely apologise. I have been sitting on some of the renders in my free pic folder for 10 years at this point and I haven't been able to trace all of them. I tried not to use any render I didn't think I had permission for, but some may have slipped through. Please let me know if this is the case and I will remove the renders or, with permission, add credit.

Features: At least five male and three female wrestlers for every region in the USA!

One tag team per region!

(imo) Lore-friendly and pretty well balanced. Some of the workers are higher potential than others, but nobody is an absolute bum and nobody is super overpowered. Some hidden gems, some rough diamonds, some veterans and some rookies.

Puns.

My goofy sense of humour.

Files can be found here:

Current Version: 1.2 https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/16wqQbyzQAAAIAma8_iVMEjlSqsBTrt_n?usp=sharing

Installation:

You'll want to create a new database in TEW 2020's editor first. Then, unzip the IndyBooster rar and copy and paste the files into your new database, overwriting the existing files. (The database will be located at somewhere along the lines of C:\Program Files (x86)\GDS\TEW2020\Databases)

Switch to your main database.

Import records in the following order:

Moves

Movesets

Workers

Worker Relationships

Tag Teams

Chemistry

Starting Injuries

Narratives (optional. I will add a few more in the future, but they're for flavour only)

If you do not import in that order, the import will either fail or the records won't be properly associated, so for example the movesets won't be filled or attached to the correct workers.

You can also import the workers into an existing save game, however, ongoing save games don't play nice with all the above, so user beware as you will lose relationships and tag teams, and the movesets and moves won't properly associate.

Images can be added by downloading and unzipping the IndyBooster Pictures folder, then pasting directly into your data's picture folder. All images should sync up correctly and appear in your game.

Changelog:

1.01:

Added missing images for Toshinari Matsumoto and Wayne Gallagher

1.2:

* 11 new workers! Still just the USA for now.

* Asphalt is no longer bad at comedy matches or gimmicks, befitting the original Penguin Man.

* Gave Victoria Vance announcing skill and career woman, as there are enough bad announcers out there without adding a 0 skill latecomer into the mix.

* Slight nerfs to Naomi The Rose.

* Slight buffs to Iolana. (not to be confused with Iolana being slightly buff).

* Improved Sammy Mahi'ai's resilience to better suit his human pretzel biography.

* Some biography updates, specifically to Madison Murk, Joseph Rowlett, and Carrie Russell.

* Congratulations to Joseph Rowlett for coming out as asexual!

* Leroy Knights, Jesse Elliers, Jamie Pyle, and The Illinois Dasher are now appropriately bald. Sorry gents, but you are clearly hairless. Get over it.

* Uriah Sands gets to keep his hair, but is on thin ice.

* Daisy Leymond's gimmicks were backwards, and as entertaining as the idea of a Hideously Annoying babyface is, we probably shouldn't book that on purpose.

* Amended some contradictory attributes.

* Dallas Death Squad now have tag chemistry, because they're worth it.

* Shaved some tag experience off Men of Action and The Baddest Team On The Planet.

* Added a little tag experience to Dallas Death Squad and Blood Orchard.

* Changed absolutely nothing whatsoever about Hook Malone. Why are you asking?

* Gave Trusty Rodriguez an extra point of popularity for being such a nice guy.

* Whiskers Wayne Farmer now has the golden mane attribute in order to encourage his beard to come out someday.

* Made Colombian necktie a submission move. Those responsible for the oversight are now sleeping with the fishies.

* Updated moves in general. Super relevant? No, but pleases my completionist brain.

* Sprinkled in the script/improv attributes and a couple voice/agent of attributes.

* A few workers now have business and booking skill.

* Frasquita Solero has celebrated her newfound ownership and booking capabilities by becoming a control freak.

Cheers for this, Blake. All these supplemental character mods are so good and this one is particularly useful, both for small companies and for large companies who need local talent for squash/enhancement matches. Thanks!

All Adam has to do now for TEW2025 is take this and all the other CV expansions and make them canon. :D

Right? It's a fertile field right now!

Blake, this is fabulous - amazing work!

Thanks heaps for this. Made my new (and decided on long term save) a bit more interesting.

Appreciate the kind words y'all. Makes the work really feel worth it.

It's been mentioned to me that two workers are missing pictures: I am updating the picture pack, but if you don't want to re-download the entire thing for two workers, here they are below:

  • 1 year later...

Been a minute, but I'm pleased to announce that the 1.2 update for IndyBooster is now live! For now it's still only touching the USA, but I didn't feel quite right pushing a few tweaks as an update of their own, so there are now 11 brand new workers out in the wild!

Primarily focused on Hawai'i, there are now four new Hawaiian ladies in the mix and two fresh Hawaiian dudes. With Keoni Kahele's newfound ability to run companies and the 15 IndyBooster workers now based in Hawai'i, it's now entirely possible to set up a very small promotion there.

Let me know if any issues with the data, comments, or tales of your experiences with the mod. Always happy to hear it!

Hey no worries! Honestly, I just hope I didn't butcher the names too badly.

Originally I was just going to add a worker or two to each area but then I was thinking about how few Hawaiians are actually in the data and it turned into a Hawai'i update instead.

I’m going to have to take a look at this since I like running Hawaii company’s, thanks

<p>So I FINALLY got round the looking at this properly as I converted it for my mod...I had no idea it would be this good! Some fantastic bios, great humour, well written and very creative. Amazing work, I spent a few days going through it as I needed to balance things for my mod, check for repeat renders and look at what needed boosting (spoiler alert - a few of your created guys are now Canadian!) and I really enjoyed doing it at it was fun looking at each character.</p><p> </p><p>

People really need to be downloading this, great addition to the CVerse, thank you for doing it!</p>

The praise means a lot. I have a lot of fun writing bios and when you're doing that many I guess the goof just starts to creep in.</p>
