DALE YOUNG

Welcome back for some more Totally Radical Beach

Wrestling, here on the Gold Coast! Tonight, the

Surfer Dude Lucas defends his Heavyweight Title against

the stern and stoic King of the Piledriver; Pat Rigsby.

Can Lucas survive? What tricks does Rigsby have up his

sleeve. That and so much more on tonight's card, so how

about we get started with our opening contest?

TREY TALLMAN VS JESSE TASMAN

RDnNCTW.jpgfTZb65K.jpgPdA30w3.jpg

Jesse gets the crowd going with bubbly enthusiam, until Tallman extinguishes his momentum with a series of fireman's carries and grinds him into the mat. Jesse's such a chill dude, he won't let that get him down. Jabs! Chops! Rolling Surfboards! 1... 2... Tallman kicks out and grabs the referee, claiming there's something in his eye...

piIkBhP.jpg

Behind the referee's back, PAT RIGSBY hits Jesse with a wrench! Suddenly Tallman's eye is perfectly fine. TDT! 1... 2... 3!

TREY TALLMAN WINS (11:40)

Trey Tallman and Pat Rigsby shake hands, celebrating a job well done. One down. One to go.

GOD OF WAR VS TOBY TOUGH

VwDKPZ8.jpgfTZb65K.jpgj9EPxLJ.jpg

Toby comes out swinging, but God of War hates the beach and everyone on it, and uses that fury to overpower his scrawny opponent with big slams and a full nelson. Toby is a resiliant rookie, battling back with punches and kicks, but War is Inevitable. Powerbomb! 1. 2. 3.

GOD OF WAR WINS (6:15)

6BU35Fq.jpg

DEE LUCKETTI

D-Pod! Last month you tried to make a fool out of me, but I'm

nobody's fool. I'm a sexiest stud on the Gold Coast. Come out

here so I can kick your ass.

CASgiD8.jpg

D-POD

Do my ears D-ceive me? Or are you dumb enough to D-Mand the

presence of the one-and-only D-Lectable D-Pod? D-Licious and

nutritious. Too fly to D-Ny and keen to supply any-and-all with

whatever their hearts D-Sire. If it's an ass-kicking you want, ask

and you shall receive. I aim to please! Consider me your D-Stroyer.

DEE LUCKETTI

There's only room for one Dee on this beach, and you're looking at him!

DEE LUCKETTI VS D-POD

91ctn2h.jpgfTZb65K.jpgBTJINuN.jpg

D-Pod shows up the cocky youngster in a game of anything-you-can-do-I-can-do-better, matching every flip and head scissor before casually strutting away when Dee recklessly tries to use his own body as a weapon. Straight up cheating gives Longetti the advantage, but he can't help himself. He's obsessed with out-flipping his opponent, and pays the price when his Shooting Star gets nothing but knees, and he's rolled up for the pin.

D-POD WINS (9:36)

TWO-FACE TUCKER & ICE ICE DAVEY VS WES SCHNORFESST & MOONCHILD

pTQpA6f.jpgUrMHVxu.jpgfTZb65K.jpgqfPUsba.jpgNkwDLkM.jpg

Moonchild teaches Tucker the error of his ways with peace and love and armbars, and Schnorfesst improves those lessons with smooth & sleek German efficiency. Not one for learning, Tucker cheats to isolate Wes and takes it upon himself to teach his frosty new friend every dirty trick in the book. A German Suplex allows Wes to make the tag and Moonchild lets his freak flag fly! Looping Punches! Flying Clotheslines! Wes hits the Schnorfesst Bomb (Spinning Back Suplex Bomb) on Tucker and the Hardcore Hippy finishes the job with the Summer of 69 (2nd Rope Legdrop).

WES SCHNORFESST & MOONCHILD WIN (10:24)

GOLD COAST HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH

/w Trey Tallman PAT RIGSBY VS SURFER DUDE LUCAS

gDJRJkm.jpg3hhCaGF.jpgfTZb65K.jpg1Ikl4yi.jpg

Lucas out-muscles, out-grapples and even out-punches the nasty little brawler, but Tallman repeatedly interferes, distracting the Champion long enough for Rigsby to take control. Bludgeoning the neck, Rigsby attempts his patented Stuff Piledriver, but Lucas can't let his little dudes down. He blocks. He slips free. Big Backdrop! Beach Breakers! Ankle Busters! He wipes out Tallman off the apron with a Gnarley Dropkick, and- Stuff Piledriver! The distraction cost him! Lucas is badly hurt, but manages to roll outside before he can be pinned. Tallman tries to help his friend, but referee Wels Farmer ejects him from the beach!

Rigsby objects, wasting valuable time he could be spending putting the Champion away, and when he gets Lucas back in the ring for another piledriver- Big Backdrop over the ropes! Big dive! Spinning Angled Slam! 1... 2... 3!

SURFER DUDE LUCAS WINS (15:44)

gDJRJkm.jpgsBi1fya.jpg

Trey Tallman runs back onto the beach, and he's not alone. GOD OF WAR kicks over sandcastles as he climbs into the ring to attack Surfer Dude Lucas. The three villains beat down the Champion...

LxKYgh8.jpgJDc0ovs.jpg

... until JESSE TASMAN and TOBY TOUGH come to the rescue. Jabs and punches and chops and kicks! The villains flee!

SURFER DUDE LUCAS

Where you going, paddlepuss? Not so tough when the

odds are even? I get some backup and suddenly you're

done?

GOD WAR

You're not done with me until I get that title!

SURFER DUDE LUCAS

Tell you what, I'm going to let you earn it. you've got two

friends. I've got two friends. Next month, let's have us a

Beach Brawl. Three-on-Three. Falls count anywhere on these

sands. You pin me, I'll give you a title shot. Any time you

want it. But if I pin you, you never show your face in the

Gold Coast again.

GOD OF WAR

You're on! We're going to tear you apart!

DALE YOUNG

Boy howdee what a main event for next month! We hope to

see you then for more Wrestling on the BEACH!

Australian Devil might add to your Bubbleweight division. If I remember correctly, he has some charisma too might put on a show with Pod, though not sure what he'd ask for money wise (not on my computer right now)

Of your list, he's the only local guy. He's a shade expensive right now at $40, but a good option to reignite the Bubbleweights down the line. I don't think he'll mesh well with Wes, but everyone else would work. I'm going to need to rummage into the DIW roster eventually, as a fair few of them are based here.

Not predicting initially, but you are one of the writers who I always come back to. Simple, accessible and characterful - I love your style. I'm kind of imagining TRBW as something equivalent to the Camp circuit in Britain, aimed at kids with enough actually going on that the parents don't get bored.

That's certainly where I get my ethos about small time local wrestling. Too many small promotions try to be ROH or PWG, but the majority of wrestling fans (not die-hards, I mean people willing to buy a ticket to see wrestling) respond to a simpler form of storytelling. Kids. Parents. Grandparents. Blokes from the pub. When I was on the indies my matches got much better reactions when I added more pantomime, camp-show elements to them. Even smart fans joined in. Ironically, I'm sure.

The product is Hokey Southern Wrestling, so ultimately the show is supposed to be a little more violent than the camps. Crowd brawling etc. However, a lot of my performers are very green and I'm dealing with small crowds of 'anyone I can get', not wrestling aficionados, so we're definitely keeping it simple. What you don't get in the camps is running a monthly show in the same venue, so I'll have to expand this original booking style some.

Three months. Six shows. That seems enough to start to get a feel for how well everyone's performing. Who are my diamonds in the rough? Let's go through the roster, from best to worst.

THE GOOD

HA603cc.jpg8GgfqaA.jpg7puBDVk.jpgLxKYgh8.jpgCASgiD8.jpg

Surfer Dude Lucas (Average Performance 39.5) The unstoppable, undeniable ace. Great size. Great physique. Good promo. Best performer on the roster. The total package. Appears a little better in Wild Brawls than long matches. His selling may be a weakness down the line, but zero complaints so far.

Wes Schnorfesst (31.2) This is why I'm surprised he isn't considered a Ring General. Zero charisma. Nothing special top row. So I don't quite know how he's performing so well. As the Sunshine Coast Bubbleweight Champion he being pushed fairly hard. I guess that might be helping. While I picture his as the Bubbleweight veteran, he's only 32 and still improving.I want to see that psychology go higher.

Moonchild (29.4) This is a surprise as his first couple of matches were below average, but the Hardcore Hippy has had a couple of cracking performances lately. Even better, he's bulked up. From Skinny weakling to a Toned 6'3 brawler I can take seriously. He broke Ice Ice Davey's fingers on the Sunshine Coast show, displaying a lack of safety, so I can't trust him to lead rookies just yet. I like him as a charismatic under babyface, especially considering my bland heel selection.

Jesse Tasman (29.3) Unlike the above, he's been consistently good from the first show. Outstanding charisma. Wonderful star quality. He's similar to Lucas, but less experienced, less muscular and not pushed as strongly. TEW actually suggest him as my best choice for a figurehead. Awesome prospect.

D-Pod (29) The wild card. I've booked him almost entirely in High Spots matches so far, but I'm curious to try other things because that's not quite his strong suit. An insanely great promo, but very inconsistent and Skinny. He's refused to bulk up once. That'll limit the spots he can fit in.

You know what's a little distressing? My top 5 guys are all babyfaces.

THE FINE

gDJRJkm.jpgcWrItPn.jpgpiIkBhP.jpg6BU35Fq.jpg

Trey Tallman (27.3) My top performing heel, but not someone I can see as my Top Heel. Not big or menacing enough to be a monster. Not charismatic enough to be a chickenshit. Solid and consistent. His great chemistry working Jesse Tasman may keep him useful. Hopefully I'll find some way to package him. Maybe a manager.

Craig Phoenix (27.0) On the plus side, he's 6'3. On the minus side, he's so skinny he's a lightweight. I'm not too thrilled with Phoenix, but he's experienced and had some good starting popularity.

Pat Rigsby (25.8) I'm probably pushing Pat harder than he deserves, but I like him. His default gimmick is Nasty Little Bugger, his bio states his match psychology is all about that Stuff Piledriver, I like his look. I'm assuming he's very short, because he's much less menacing that Tallman/Tucker. I get the feeling I'm going to outgrow him, unless he radically improves or finds good tag chemistry.

Dee Lucketti (24.2) Started off terrible, but has gotten much better since getting those first match jitters out of his system, and switching to High Spots matches. The Comedy bout with Flip wasn't so bad either. I'm sure he'll be higher up this list by the end of June.

THE BOWLING SHOE UGLY

sBi1fya.jpg5LugVsc.jpgXtP0w3z.jpgJDc0ovs.jpg

God of War (23.6) He's in his 40's, on time decline with bad Stamina... None of which particularly bother me because he's a Muscular Heavyweight who looks like he can rip a fan in half. I've put him in a lot of Wild Brawls, but it's not his strong suit. His best performance by far was teaming with Tallman, so maybe there's a tag team specialist in there waiting to bust out.

Ice Ice Davey (22.0) Not really fair, this one, as he's still experiencing the first match jitters/zero popularity that tanked Lucketti & Tough's first matches. And then Moonchild broke his fingers in his second match. A (prematurely white haired) rookie in need of a good mentor, and not...

Two-Face Tucker (21.4) Looks like my ideal opening match heel, but he's kinda terrible. Shockingly bad stamina, and even though he's Toned up for me... that kinda hurts the appeal. Inexplicably, his only passable performance was against...

Toby Tough (18.7) Inexperience tanked his first two matches, but unlike Dee Lucketti he hasn't found his niche since then. I hoped Wild Brawls would give him a boost, but they actually made his performances worse. A scrawny, boring lightweight, punching and kicking with the big boys. Only 18, so hopefully will improve.

Good way to give the heels a win without hurting Lucas. Just saw you have this match up on the sunshine coast as well. I think each team takes a win but the heels need the more prominent win.

Craig Phoenix vs D-Pod

The Warbird will rise from the ashes when he tones up. Until then D-Pod spits fire on the mic and goes alright. (Actually loved his promo.)

The Bubbleweight Champ looks great in the new headband, and Ice Ice Davey is still learning the ropes

Welcome back for some more Totally Radical Beach</p><p>

Wrestling, here on the Gold Coast! Tonight, the God</p><p>

of War puts it all on the line in a Captain's Beach Brawl.</p><p>

If he can pin Surfer Dude Lucas, he gets a shot against</p><p>

the Champion. But if Lucas pins him he can never set</p><p>

Moonchild introduces Tucker to peace and love and armbars, until a straight right breaks the hippy's nose. Gushing blood, Moonchild fights back with reckless punches and shoves Tucker Two-Face-First into the ring post, fracturing his cheekbone. Then it's awkward, ugly brawling until Tucker falls down and Moonchild hits the Summer of 69 (2nd Rope Legdrop) for the win.</p><p> </p><p>

D-Pod shows off his amazing arsenal of acrobatics, playing Phoenix for a fool until the War Bird uses his long limbs and towering height advantage to rise again. Fun and games are over, now D-Pod lets the moves do the talking. Bulldog! Seated Neck Plant! Rolling Inverted DDT! Moonsault! 1... 2... 3. </p><p> </p><p>

DEE LUCKETTI</p><p>

Hey D-Pod! You're not so tough! You got lucky last month, but that </p><p>

Lucketti easily shows off his flashy flips against such a skinny shrimp. Quickly battered and bruised, Flip flees under the ring... and when he pops back he's miraculously healed, bouncing around and taking Lucketti by surprise! Dee's still the superior athlete, but whenever he takes control, Flip goes back under the ring and returns recovered. Frustrated, Dee nearly gets rolled up, but when Flip tries to flee one more time, Dee grabs his leg and stops him half way.</p><p> </p><p>

Somehow, a second Flip emerges out the other side of the ring. What the hell? The referee questions the doppelganger, but Lucketti's had enough. Low blow! 1... 2... 3.</p><p> </p><p>

THE BEACH PATROL</strong></p><p>

Jesse Tasman, Surfer Dude Lucas & Toby Tough</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

The two teams collide with the Surfer Dude taking it to God of War, but every time Lucas gets the upperhand, he's blindsided by Rigsby or Tallman. Jesse and Toby try to keep the villains out of the way, but fall victim to hair pulling and eye pokes. Lucas refuses to let the Little Dudes down. Beach Breakers to Tallman! Ankle Biters to Rigsby! Jesse and Lucas wipe out the dastardly duo with bodacious double teams and simultaneous Surfboards, but in the meantime God of War has overpowered Toby and dragged him outside. Powerbomb off a car! Down onto the dunes! Toby's broken in half!</p><p> </p><p>

Surfer Dude sprints across the beach and throws hands with such fury that God of War flees across the sands, stumbling through sandcastles. In the ring, Jesse tries to keep Rigsby and Tallman at bay, but he's out-numbered. The villains hit a Spike Stuff Piledriver before coming to God of War's aid, saving him as Lucas is contemplating drowning him in the sea. Now it's three against one, and the War God has no qualms about a little ocean murder. </p><p> </p><p>

Toby limps over. It's a miracle he's still walking, but his punches and kicks are easily dealt with. Still, it gives Lucas a chance. Beach Breaker! Ankle Biters! He uses the water to his advantage, but he's simply overwhelmed. TDT! Stuff Piledriver! Powerbomb! 1... 2... 3.</p><p> </p><p>

I am... so... I am so mad at these guys. First of all, the main event was a festival of under-performance. Even Trey Tallman was having an off night. Jesse was shockingly dire, Toby was dreadful. Rigsby... Actually Rigsby was better than usual. I'd give him a hug if I didn't spend all of my post match speech yelling at Match #2. Quickly discovering zero chemistry, Moonchild and Tucker decided to have a shoot boxing match. Tucker broke the hippy's nose within seconds, and Moonchild responded by fracturing Tucker's cheekbone. It was a sloppy, ugly bloodbath that was no fun for anyone. Tucker's out of the next show. Moonchild's going to recover, but he'll be Keeping It Simple for a while. First Ice's fingers. Now this. </p><p> </p><p>

After calming down, I did realise I shot myself in the foot with the main event. I knew Toby wasn't ready. I hurt the match be insisting Lucas be kept strong. Above all, these guys weren't ready to put on the Spectacle I wanted. We still gained popularity from this, but it was without a doubt a weak showing.</p>

I get the feeling injuries are going to be commonplace in this project. God of War sprained his ankle in the main event, and Michel Bernard (replacing injured Two-Face Tucker) decided to spend his debut hurting Bounce Buchanan with a sloppy suplex. Thankfully Moonchild was on his best behavior, Keeping It Simple. Everyone will be recovered by the next show. </p><p> </p><p>

A better main event, thanks to some more sensible agent notes. Toby Tough just isn't ready to be playing with the big boys. Wild Brawl duties went to D-Pod/Phoenix, which was a worthwhile experiment as it proved they aren't good at it, but at least no one got hurt. I'm in a predicament, as my best Wild Brawlers are also my Main Event players... so I need to decide between long final matches or short crowd brawls. Unless I get hiring. </p><p> </p><p>

SIZE MATTERS</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

I've asked pretty much everyone of the roster to work on their physiques, and so far I've seen improvements in the physiques of Moonchild (filling out his 6'3 frame from dweebishly skinny to athletically Toned) Two-Face Tucker (perhaps ruining his sleazy dirt-bag look) Trey Tallman (what a pro) and Toby Tough (perhaps the only good thing he's done so far). I'm disappointed in certain people refusing to get serious. I'd like to get Ice Ice Davey on the road to Muscular, and skinny D-Pod breaks my heart. A great talent who just needs to eat a few cheeseburgers. </p><p> </p><p>

I can see from the replies that the sensible move would be to spend my new income on a shiny, talented, expensive top heel... but I'm not going to do that. I've fallen in love with the idea that everyone gets paid the same, and I want to keep that going for as long as I can. Besides, even my worst shows are gaining me popularity, and with Surfer Dude headlining I don't see how a fancy pants rich boy would improve my business. </p><p> </p><p>

So instead I've picked up three more $30 talents. Michel Bernard relocated to Queensland just as I needed a replacement for Two-Face Tucker. He's a French MMA-inspired grappler, which could be interesting. Or could clash horribly with the other lightweights. He's already hurt Bounce Buchanan in his debut. Meanwhile, The Bat Men; Slugger and Syrus, are a very experienced tag team in DIW. Primarily Hardcore guys, I think they could be a solid tag team who can provide a lot of experience on the babyface side, and handle the Wild Brawl duties I've been struggling. Furthermore...</p><p> </p><p>

</p><ul><li>The Gold Coast show is growing to 2 hours, with 6 matches.<br /></li><li>I've hired a second referee, Glen Lee, to work the Gold Coast show only.<br /></li><li>I'm going to start introducing Managers, although it's slim pickings in Queensland right now.<br /></li><li>I've upgraded my Production Values to Amateur. I know this doesn't do anything in TEW unless you're in a battle, but if this were real I'd want to invest in a more professional setup, with ring aprons and an inflatable entrance tunnels, and gimmicky extras for the performers. I would say 'lights', but we're outdoors. Given that I don't feel the need to splurge on expensive roster additions right now, I'd rather get this expense out of the way. It's really the only Production element I care about. Live Event Experience is very expensive, I'm not filming these, let alone Broadcasting them, and Music? Who's gonna sue little old us? I may regret this move, but it's undoable. <br /></li><li>I'm also going to experiment with Ticket Prices, moving the Sunshine Coast prices to Cheap ($7). Gold Coast will remain Very Cheap ($5) as I want big attendance and increased pop gains. I'm curious what this will do to the bottom line of each show. In my private games, the two shows worked in parallel to one another. Here, because I'm writing one and summarising another, I had an A-show and a Spot show. I'm looking for Gold Coast to be the flagship, and Sunshine Coast to earn its keep while providing experience. <br /></li><li>I am curious what happens to costs once you hit Tiny. I'm at 15 popularity now, so it's coming soon.</li></ul><p></p><p> </p><p>

Dale Young's Cut: I want to make my user rich. That's the goal, right? Now that we're seeing profit, Dale won't just be taking the same as the boys. He wants to make a full time living at this. I'm not sure how the above is going to pan out, so I won't go overboard. Lets leave the company account with a nice even number in it and increase his salary to <strong>$157</strong>. (Remaining Bank Balance $2,200)</p><p> </p><p>

BEACH Wrestling on the Gold Coast (Sat Week 2 May 2020) Mermaid Beach

Non-Title Revenge Match: Trey Tallman vs Surfer Dude Lucas

Trey Tallman is a monster and needs to br treated as such.

Dee Lucketti & Partner of his Choice vs D-Pod & Partner of his Choice

Dee Lucketti is about to be unlucky.

Two-Face Tucker & Ice Ice Davey vs The Hit Men (Syrus & Slugger)

Hit Men on lock.

Pat Rigsby vs Moonchild

As much as I hate him Rigsby is your bae.

God of War vs Flip Buchanan

I loved their twin shenanigans and I am going to steal that in the future but GoW will murder both Flip and Bounce.

Michel Bernard vs Wes Schnorfesst

Schnorfest is the Bubbleweight Champ but domt count out Michel. Sorry that is "Me-kell".

BEACH Wrestling on the Sunshine Coast (Sat Week 3 May 2020) Noosa Head

Sunshine Coast Bubbleweight Title: Toby Tough vs Wes Schnorfesst

Lifeguard Match: Trey Tallman vs Surfer Dude Lucas

These two trade wins this week and while SDL is the face and should win on the main show, he is better suited to win whatever a Lifeguard Match is.

I also want to see a Surfboard match be the exact same as a Tables match.

I knew Tallman/Lucas was going to be really good, but I'm pleased to see a couple of the other matches get into the 35+zone. Financially, it was more a hit than usual. Ticket sales and merch is growing, but the added production costs, and adding a 6th match (a tag at that) hurts. I think it's inevitable that these Gold Coast shows are always going to lose money. Very cheap tickets. Lots of matches. Trying to put on the best show in front of the most people. </p><p> </p><p> Predictions surprised me. General consensus seemed to be that Tallman and Lucketti were going over, and I can see why. Non-Title generally implies the Champion's going to lose (happened with Michel/Wes) but I only booked it as Non-Title in order to promote God of War's title shot for the Brisbane Bash. Surfer Dude is my ace, and that's not just about skills, it's about perception and wins. He's still proving himself to the local crowds.</p><p> </p><p> D-Pod got yet another with over Lucketti... but that was a last minute replacement. It was going to be Jesse & Toby Tough winning a match and advancing in the tag tournament, but Toby let me down last month. He's not ready. So I thought D-Pod makes an interesting alternate. I think he and Jesse look pretty good together. Does Dee deserve a win? I dunno. He's no Toby Tough, but he isn't a breakout star either. </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="DAVEFAN95" data-cite="DAVEFAN95" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="51009" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Nice to see new blood though not too pleased about DIW invading our beach. All very professional... for now. In my private games I tend to avoid confrontation, but I am definitely planning on expanding into Northern New South Wales eventually, and that will probably provoke DIW and APW. Maybe then I won't be so eager to use their guys. </p><p> </p><p> Bernard's pretty good. Him and Wes had a cracker. I think I'll be putting on a rematch at the Brisbane Bash.</p>

Well... darn. Tucker & Dee have great chemistry. Is that enough to keep Tucker on? I had resigned myself to let him go when his contract runs out in July. </p><p> </p><p>

Disappointed with Slugger. He was great in Gold Coast, but without his partner the weaknesses showed. Still, it gave Davey some ring time with an experienced hand, and it was a wild brawl where no one got hurt, so that's fine. Barely better was Schnorfesst carrying Tough, who is little better than a scrawny mop at this point. </p><p> </p><p>

Pleased to see the losses are getting smaller here, with the tighter roster, and more expensive tickets. To my absolute shock, there were no apparent loss of ticket sales from added $2 to the price, and still got our best house yet. I think I'll be moving the Sunshine shows to Normal ticket prices soo, but not before getting to 17 pop raises them naturally. Don't want to scare the locals. $7 is a pretty good deal for 90 minutes of wrestling on a beach though. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Gold Coast</strong> Mermaid Beach is my current home venue, which I'm running monthly for a slightly more narrative experience. </p><p>

</p><p><img alt="rqTBE2i.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/rqTBE2i.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Sunshine Coast</strong> Four beaches; Noosa Heads, Caloundra, Mooloolaba & Coolum, that I'm cycling through, hitting each three times per year. Unlike Gold Coast, which is one big city, this area is more an assortment of small towns, so it didn't make sense to have one central venue. No one's travelling 45 minutes from Noosa Heads to the Caloundra show. Yet. The shows are smaller and a little more stand alone, with a focus on sending the crowd home happy over cliffhangers.</p><p>

</p><p><img alt="KS6AuEB.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/KS6AuEB.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p></p><p></p><p>

<strong>Brisbane</strong>. The biggest city in the region. Next month, we'll be holding the Brisbane Bash there., and depending on how that feels we'll hit it 1-3 more times over the year. While I'm hyping up the first one, I'm not sure I want to use them as PPV equivalents, although the location works as a mid-point that fans from both the Gold coast and Sunshine Coast could all go to. </p><p>

Finally, three towns I'm looking to run on an annual basis. <strong>Hervey Bay</strong> is about 3hr north of Brisbane, with Bundaberg (specifically <strong>Bargara Beach</strong>) an hour north of that. <strong>Toowoomba</strong> is a strange one. Good population. Hour and a half from Brisbane. Seems perfect... but it's inland. I would have to run a regular building, maybe dressed up to look like a beach, maybe just promoted as Totally Radical Wrestling. Either way, all of these shows will be self-contained pieces, with small crews, and scheduled in whatever way makes sense to reduce driving. I'd want them to make money before sponsorships too, but that might be a big ask for 2020.</td></tr></table></p><p> </p><p>

I liked seeing the breakdown of the loop. Part of me is definitely against the idea of Toowoomba show, but then as a theme there's probably a lot you can do with it assuming it's treated as a strange special occasional rather than a new normal. The idea of the beach folk being stranded in land is fun, I can imagine a lot of the faces would struggle in an environment without the sea, sun and sand. Is it even possible to contain the star quality of Sufer Dude Lucas INside a building?

<em>Keep him short term. Pretty sure he is one of the more over guys on the roster and he'll job to Lucas at the Brisbane show, let him stay for another 3-6 months to get Tasman (or D-Pod if he decides to bulk up) over and then ship him off, you could re-hire him down the road if needed</em></p><p>

Two Face Tucker (bad wrestler, atrocious stamina, Cold momentum, but High Experience & Great Chemistry teaming with Lucketti)</p><p>

<em>I'd keep him for another three months. I would've cut him but he saved his job with the team chemistry with Lucketti, let's see if that helps him improve his performance and see where it goes. If he still isn't living up to what you want or need, then cut him loose.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<em>I can understand the DIW hires, especially with the tag tournie coming up, but I generally prefer to use the FA pool but seems you are tying yourself down to one region, I can see why you'd use somebody else's guys with the limited pickings. Surprised Bernard got the win, but I feel you have big plans for him. Looking forward to the mystery team too, probably has something to do with Taniko Jo being about.</em></p>

Loved seeing the breakdown of the loop. Will be curious when you get bigger if you take shows up north to Townsville (That's where I live!), Cairns or decide to shift down to the northern part of NSW and have an famous Bondi Beach. Just on Brisbane, it does have some beaches further out, but in the heart of the city is a man made beach in Southbank called Streets Beach. Little Streets Beach fact "A South Bank icon, Streets Beach is a must-visit while you’re in the Parklands. It is Australia’s only inner-city, man-made beach and it boasts a sparkling lagoon surrounded by white, sandy beaches and sub-tropical plants. Streets Beach is free to use and is patrolled by qualified lifeguards all year round." so you could have a cheap (see free) venue to use for your biggest event of the year in the most populated location in QLD.

BEACH Wrestling on the Gold Coast (Saturday Week 2 June 2020) Mermaid Beach

Tag Tournament Qtr Final: Rigsby & Tallman vs Schnorfesst & Moonchild

This is probably more unexpected as Schnofesst & Moonchild look like a tag-team, but Rigsby and Tallman are your better in ring competitors.

Tag Tournament Qtr Final: A Mystery Team vs Flip & Bounce Buchanan

Poor Flip & Bounce Buchanan. Without the chance to use their twin tactics the debuting team will dominate.

Dee Lucketti vs D-Pod

D-Pod is too good on the mic to feed to Dee Lucketti and his stupid reverse Mohawk.

Ice Ice Davey vs Surfer Dude Lucas

Surfer Dude Lucas is the star.

Michel Bernard vs Toby Tough

"Me-kell" Bernard is talent in the ring and can develop into a fine star as long as this isn't the wild brawl match.

God of War vs Jesse Tasman

Tasman could be on the way out for sure.

I also have a couple of contracts expiring. Should I re-sign...

God of War - Not good enough in the ring but he has the look and a short term contract to have him put other guys over is the way to go.

Two Face Tucker - Cut him and his potential partner Lucketti and his stupid haircut! Actually I am a fan of seeing you use TFT but you have better talent being developed so TFT is here to eat pins.

Now I really want to do it. Maybe call the show "Landlocked" and have some kind of gimmick match to headline.

I can understand the DIW hires, especially with the tag tournie coming up, but I generally prefer to use the FA pool but seems you are tying yourself down to one region, I can see why you'd use somebody else's guys with the limited pickings.

That's exactly where my head is at. We're a Queensland promotion using local wrestlers from Queensland. The fact that they're unemployed in mostly coincidence. Australia is just so big. If I was in Wales I'd have no issue using guys from the South England or the Midlands on the shows, because you can drive that in 3 hours. Car full of guys all chipping in fuel, that's not too expensive. But I can't ask anyone to drive from Sydney for a $30 pay day. I wouldn't respect the guy who would.

In my private games, I don't care about keeping my guys exclusive. I want them working as much as possible. I hope DIW and APW do pick up a few of my guys, although I expect they'll only do that when I venture into NSW... at which point I'm going to be considering war.

And really, there;s a limit to how I can bring in if I were just going Unemployed. I can count on one hand the unemployed locals left.

I think that has to be the Brisbane venue right there.

I'll venture into the top of NSW eventually. When I'm ready to compete with DIW and APW. When I can pay guys enough to make it worth the travel. Spillover is raising my pop there at the moment. When that gets me to about an 11 I'll look into locations. Whatever town has a beach, good population, and is a reasonable drive. The further South I go the more local NSW talent I'd need.

Townsville and Cairns were the top of my list, until I checked them on google maps. 15-20 hour drive? Maybe if I rent a bus to bring the guys up. It would be nice to do an annual tour (during school holidays) and hit 2-5 towns up there in one week. I want to do stuff like this, where I reeeeally think about the logistics of it, and the reality of being a scumbag indy show.

Good-looking guys

Tag Tournament Qtr Final: A Mystery Team vs Flip & Bounce Buchanan

Never bet against ????

Dee Lucketti vs D-Pod

D-Pod is a consistent producer, the crowd loves him, and Dee isn't big enough to swing the decision the other way.

Ice Ice Davey vs Surfer Dude Lucas

Nobody messes with the Dude!

Michel Bernard vs Toby Tough

Toby has disappointed recently, Michel can go places.

God of War vs Jesse Tasman

The God is a big beast, but Jesse is a top level player and looks good enough to take him out.

God of War (bad wrestler, poor stamina, but he's muscular, heavyweight, High Experience, Very Warm momentum) YES

Why waste a guy who has a decent upside? You can get a bit more out of him before he's too broken down to use.

Two Face Tucker (bad wrestler, atrocious stamina, Cold momentum, but High Experience & Great Chemistry teaming with Lucketti) NO

Part of the worst match you've put on, all he's going to do is drag down Lucketti. Who else does he have to injure before this becomes a bad idea?

In RL we have a promotion up here and one in Mackay. They do a fair bit of cross over with a big show every 6 months with guys doing the drive. (Though pretty sure the boys arent really getting paid for the shows as far as I know.) But yeah its a 16 hour drive normally which is insane to do in 1 hit.

Saturday Week 2 June 2020

Mermaid Beach, Gold Coast, Queensland

113 in attendance ($565 gate)

CMh56Ju.jpg

DALE YOUNG

We have a great selection of matches for you tonight, including our

main event; A Lifeguard match. Dee Lucketti claims that D-Pod is

afraid to fight him fair and square, so he has demanded that the

rest of the roster surround the ring to stop him from fleeing. Will

Lucketti finally be able to beat his rival? Does he have a trick up

his sleeve? Who's ready for some Beach Wrestling?

ICE ICE DAVEY VS SURFER DUDE LUCAS

UrMHVxu.jpgfTZb65K.jpg1Ikl4yi.jpg

Surfer Dude out-muscles, out-wrestles and out-punches the sub zero rookie, until Davey attacks the bare feet and freezes him in his tracks with forearm shivers. Lucas can't let his Little Dudes down. Beach Breakers! Ankle Biters! Davey tries to give the Champion the Cold Shoulder but Lucas wipes him out with a Gnarley Dropkick! Spinning Angled Slam! 1... 2... 3!

SURFER DUDE LUCAS WINS (15:09)

sBi1fya.jpg

As Surfer Dude celebrates his victory, GOD OF WAR clubbers him from behind and hits a bone shattering Powerbomb!

GOD OF WAR

You think you're real tough, don't ya? Well you can kiss that belt

goodbye at the Brisbane Bash. You won't have all your snot-nosed

Gold Coast "Little Dudes" to help you. You're gonna be all alone

on my turf.

God of War pushes past security to grab Lucas and sets up for another Powerb-

LxKYgh8.jpgCASgiD8.jpg

Here come JESSE TASMAN and D-POD. D-Pod checks on Lucas while Jesse's ready to fight!

GOD OF WAR VS JESSE TASMAN

VwDKPZ8.jpgfTZb65K.jpgPdA30w3.jpg

Jesse unloads with jabs and chops that sends his opponent fleeing outside, stumbling through sandcastles. Throwing a child in harm's way, God of War takes control, overpowering Jesse with big slams on the sands and a full nelson in the ring. Jesse breaks free and hits a few Rolling Waves Suplexes, but the damage is done. Thumb to the eye! Powerbomb! 1... 2... 3.

GOD OF WAR WINS (5:48)

QUEENSLAND TAG TEAM TOURNAMENT QUARTER FINAL

Smasher & Mauler /w Taniko Jo

THE S&M CONNECTION

THE BUCHANAN BOYS

Flip & Bounce

The Buchanan Boys practically soil themselves at the sight of Taniko Jo leading her two bulky behemoths to the ring. Eager to please, Smasher & Mauler follow their mistresses orders to tie up their skinny opponents in a dungeon of deviance and pound them into submission. Flip and Bounce try to hide under the ring, but there's nowhere to run. Running Powerslam! Smash Hammer (Elbow Drop)! 1. 2. 3.

S&M CONNECTION ADVANCE (7:22)

TANIKO JO

Last month I saw what this Beach call 'tag teams', and I'm not impressed.

Only one team is going to win the Queensland Titles at the Brisbane

Bash, and they're mine. All mine.

MICHEL BERNARD VS TOBY TOUGH

BhM88qf.jpgfTZb65K.jpgj9EPxLJ.jpg

Bernard takes his opponent down with fancy French submission artistry. Toby's a resiliant rookie, fighting back with punches and kicks, but gets thrown around by harsh Judo throws and taps out to a Cross Armlock.

MICHEL BERNARD WINS (9:50)

QUEENSLAND TAG TEAM TOURNAMENT QUARTER FINAL

PAT RIGSBY & TREY TALLMAN

3hhCaGF.jpgRDnNCTW.jpgfTZb65K.jpgqfPUsba.jpgNkwDLkM.jpg

WES SCHNORFESST & MOONCHILD

Schnorfesst and Moonchild show their opponents a world of peace and love and armbars, delivered with smooth and sleek German efficiency, but Rough & Tumble aren't interested. Rigsby bludgeons and Tallman grinds until Wes can unleash his partner. Moonchild lets his freak flag fly with groovy punches and far out flying clotheslines, but Tallman extinguishes his momentum with a fireman's carry slam, and the dastardly duo hit a Spike Stuff Piledriver for the win.

RIGSBY & TALLMAN ADVANCE (18:02)

LIFEGUARD MATCH

DEE LUCKETTI VS D-POD

91ctn2h.jpgfTZb65K.jpgBTJINuN.jpg

sBi1fya.jpgpiIkBhP.jpggDJRJkm.jpg5LugVsc.jpgFvuJ5Rf.jpg8GgfqaA.jpg7puBDVk.jpgJDc0ovs.jpgsF1j1C7.jpghUlaGXp.jpg

D-Pod wins over the crowd with his arsenal of acrobatics, but he hasn't won over the Lifeguards. God of War bands together Rigsby, Tallman, Davey & Bernard to nip at D-Pod's heels, protect Lucketti whenever he's dumped out of the ring, and bully the Buchanan Boys into fleeing. D-Pod hits a Rolling Inverted DDT but is dragged outside and violently assaulted by Rigsby & Tallman. Schnorfesst has a bone to pick with Rigsby, but he's blindsided by Michel! A huge brawl breaks out, but the good guys are outnumbered.

HA603cc.jpgLxKYgh8.jpg

Hobbling, with taped up ribs, Surfer Dude Lucas and Jesse Tasman wade into the fray! Jabs! Chops! Beach Breakers! D-Pod launches Lucketti over the top rope and takes out everyone, but as referee Wels Farmer tries to untangle Dee, God of War sneaks into the ring. Powerbomb! Behind the referee's back! Lucketti with the cover. 1... 2... 3!

DEE LUCKETTI WINS (14:31)

Surfer Dude hits the ring but God of War flees. Happy with the day's work.

SURFER DUDE LUCAS

You think you've proved something, paddlepuss? You're nothing

but a cheater and a coward, and when I get my hands on you in

Brisbane you're gonna regret messing with me and my friends.

This is my Beach! This is my Title! No matter where I go my Little

Dudes will be cheering me on, and that's all the motivation I

need to kick your ass. See you in two weeks.

A tricky show, with no clear option for a main event. Lucas/Davey felt uninteresting. God/Jesse was guaranteed to underdeliver. I didn't think R&T/Hippes would be so good. Pod/Lucketti was a compromise. I could tie it to stories and I thought it would do alright. I had Dee do a stunt bump in the hope for a boost, but he cracked his ribs and it hurt the match instead. Honestly, I can headline with anything at this point and still gain pop, so I'm not complaining, but I gotta get Surfer Dude some interesting opponents he can headline with.

Taniko Jo has brought in her team of Smasher and Mauler, and... Oof. Big beefy local veterans, they would have been part of the starting roster, but I was delaying having a proper tag scene until I'd explore chemistry. I'm pretty disappointed with their debut. Their Queensland popularity is good compared to how my base guys started, but they've been leapfrogged in the past 5-months of shows. It's going to be impossible to find instant Major Stars for $30. I had to offer a few bonuses to get these two to sign for that price.

Surfer Dude doesn't want to be scripted, and with a final promo like that, I don't think I need to.

I'm getting closer to making the small shows profitable. I switched to Normal Ticket prices, which resulted in a small atendance drop, in exchange for getting $10 per head (+$1 Merch). I also tried leaving my expensive road agent (Original Lone Rider... I don't talk about him, but he's $270 a pop) at home and have Two Face Tucker, God of War & Wes Schnorfesst do his job. Every segment was penalised, but the scores were still sound. The main problem with the show was not having Surfer Dude on last. I'm still trying to figure out these Sunshine shows. Are they narrative? Are they self-contained spot shows? Who knows?

No chemistry between D-Pod and Trey Tallman. Disappointing, but I guess they're in different weight classes.
