Forgot to mention that I was very glad and surprised that Buff wasn't a swerve! It's so easy booking him as a bastard that would double cross his own mother, but he actually did show a lot of promise as a face during his tag days and his almost face turn after the broken neck.

To this day the Buff Blockbuster is one of my favorite moves.

I also didn't see the Giant helping Hogan coming either. Bash at the Beach has potential to be your best show yet.

Also wanted to thank you for the diary in general as I'm watching more and more wrestling in real life so it's nice to have a pallet cleanser with a fun story. I genuinely get excited when I see there's a new post. There's a few diaries that I try to keep up with, but this one is easily my favorite that's been done in years. Probably since Beejus's War of Thrones diary.

Thank you so much, Jaysin. That means so much to me. And actually most of the credit for the Giant reveal largely goes to Pipers Pit because I was talking to him and trying to think of a good way that made sense for Giant to return and he suggested with the nWo again and this return just made sense for a show as big as the 150th Nitro.

As to Buff, it was frustrating to me that WCW ruined a potential big babyface turn for him. After the broken neck there was a Nitro where Buff told Rick he forgave him and hugged him and Buff got a MONSTER pop for that moment. The fans wanted to like him for that. And two seconds later it was a swerve where he and Scott Steiner beat up Rick. It was such a lost moment that I did not want to repeat with my WCW. I knew everyone would expect a swerve but the swerve came in the form of Giant instead of Buff. Buff is solidly planted as a babyface for WCW now.

And I am really, really excited for Bash at the Beach. And really the back half of 98. As the rest of this year's creative is planned out (at least for the top half or so of the card), and has been since the start of this diary. So to finally be here to execute those plans is really exciting for me as the writer of this project.

WCW/nWo Bash at the Beach 1998

WCW/nWo Bash at the Beach opens differently from tradition because we don’t get the typical opening video. Instead the logo for Bash at the Beach plays and then we cut right into the arena as pyro hits and the San Diego Sports Arena comes to life.

In the ring already is Saturn and Chris Benoit who have made their entrances and the United States Title Match beginning right now.

Benoit and Saturn have a very scientific and hard hitting opening match for the US title. Both men use Japanese Strong Style type maneuvers and Saturn’s chest is eventually actually bloody from the chops by the Crippler. Things change when Saturn does a German Suplex and drops Benoit on his head. Saturn begins to work on the neck and eventually locks in the Rings of Saturn. Benoit looks like he is gonna fade but just before he does, the champ is able to roll around into a close two count. The two trade near falls before Saturn goes for the DVD but Benoit grabs his arm instead and yanks Saturn down. Benoit immediately locks in the Crossface and after a minute of torture, Saturn has no where to go. Saturn surrenders and Benoit retains the US title.

After the match, Benoit celebrates his win when Sensuous Sherri suddenly hops up onto the ring apron. Benoit looks at her in confusion and mouths “what are you doing?” and Sherri is just giddy when a man in a baseball hat slides in behind Benoit. He blasts Benoit from behind and slams Benoit’s face and head against the mat over and over. The man lifts his hat from his head and it’s……..

Shane Douglas! Shane delivers a piledriver on Benoit onto the belt and then looks at Sherri and calls her into the ring. She gets in and runs and throws herself into his arms. Sensuous Sherri’s boyfriend has arrived!

We then go to the announcers who put over the surprising arrival of Shane Douglas and officially welcome us to the biggest bash of the summer, WCW and nWo present: Bash at the Beach. We are live from the San Diego Sports Arena where tonight Hollywood Hogan must defend the WCW World Heavyweight Title against both Ric Flair and the “Hitman” Bret Hart in a Triangle Match. But Hollywood has a huge equalizer in The Giant. Let's go back to Monday on Nitro and see how the landscape for this match just got changed.

Footage of The Giant returning to Nitro on Monday destroying Buff Bagwell and rejoining the nWo airs. That footage then cuts to “earlier today” where the nWo arrived in their limousine and The Giant promises that Hollywood will remain champ tonight because The Giant will be in his corner as they enter the arena.

Tony, Bobby and Dusty put over that the nWo has one-upped WCW yet again and now its anyone’s guess what will happen here tonight. Still to come tonight Diamond Dallas Page against Dennis Rodman, Goldberg defends his TV Title against Scott Hall and we will have new #1 contenders for the Tag Team Titles. Plus the arrival of Tamara Sytch is still to come. But lets go to the ring with our next match, Brian Adams vs Chris Jericho.

Brian Adams vs Chris Jericho

Adams takes control early and uses his power to just beat Jericho down both in the ring and out of the ring. But, Jericho does indeed have the heart of a lion because Adams cannot get a pinfall even after a Buckle Bomb. Jericho starts battling back in and goes for the Liontamer but Adams gouges him in the eye and sets up for the Heart Punch. Jericho is able to move out of the way, run into the ropes and when he bounces off he catches Adams with a Double Knee Smash (Codebreaker) out of nowhere. Adams is out as Jericho covers...1….2...3.

We get a replay of Jericho with the double knee finisher and then Jericho celebrates his victory as he has conquered Brian Adams.

Mean Gene Okerlund is backstage with Diamond Dallas Page and Kimberly. They talk about tonight’s match with Dennis Rodman and the insinuations that both Rodman and Syxxx have made with regards to Kimberly. Page says that he is fighting this battle for both his wife and for himself and tonight the “BadBoy of the NBA” will be exposed for the little punk ass bitch that he is. Gene asks if Kimberly if she is concerned with Syxxx at ringside and she says that she is not because Page isn’t the only powerhouse in the family. Kimberly created the Nitro Girls and revolutionized this sport. She is stronger than people think and is able to handle a little leech like Syxxx. DDP promises that both Rodman and Syxxx will feel...the...bang. That war is still to come LIVE at the Bash at the Beach.

A contrast of styles in this match as Juvie flies all over the place and Malenko has to deal with that. Early on, Dean is able to ground Juvie but Guerrera wills himself back in and soon has Dean on the ropes (literally leaning against them) when he charges and does a Hurricanrana to Dean that sends the champ from the inside of the ring to the floor. Juvie goes for broke and climbs the ropes and nails a Top Rope Leg Drop from the top onto the floor! Back in the ring, Guerrer sets up Dean for the 450 but when he goes for it, Dean rolls out of the way and Juvie misses. Dean works on Juvie’s back and soon locks in the Texas Cloverleaf for the submission victory.

The champs come out and they say that they are here to personally watch this next match. Now they have history with both G.T.T. & Davey Boy & Anvil and the Steiners do not care which of these two teams win tonight because they become the Number One Contenders and tomorrow night on Nitro they will get their chance at these belts. The Steiners say that JJ Dillon has asked the Steiners to defend the belts tomorrow night and the Steiners are fighting champions, so they have agreed. So G.T.T., Davey and Anvil, have a goo….The champs are silenced by the opening chords of….

AC/DC’s “Back in Black” booms through the arena as the camera goes to the entrance curtain where a leg is seductively sticking out. The curtain pulls back and Tamara Sytch, dressed in a black skirt and black top, steps out to the wild applause of the crowd.

The music continues to play as she saunters up to Rick and Scott. She begins to silently walk around the champions and lightly touches their arms and shoulders as if inspecting them. Rick and Scott are completely confused while Tamara continues circling them and eyeing them up.

She suddenly smiles, winks at them both and walks away to the back all without ever saying a word. The music ends and Rick and Scott, as well as Gene, are completely confused. The champs walk down to ringside so that they can view this match.

#1 Contenders for the World Tag Team Titles

G.T.T. vs Davey Boy Smith & Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart

This is a stiff match that quickly turns into a brawl as Devon tees off with Davey and LoMonaco takes on Anvil on the floor. Davey gets the better of Devon and scores a near fall before LoMonaco throws Anvil back first into the ring post and gets in the ring. G.T.T. take their time beating down Davey while Anvil struggles to get back into it. Eventually Davey is able to tag in and Anvil fights valiantly and scores a close count on LoMonaco, but Devon rams his elbow in the back of Anvil’s back. From then on G.T.T. beat down Anvil and when Davey tries to save him, Davey is double teamed. A Death Drop on Anvil moments later makes it academic as G.T.T. earns the Tag Team Title shot tomorrow night on Nitro.

We go to a recap video of Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio before going up to the announce booth where Mike Tenay has joined the team and he talks about the cultural history of the mask in Lucha Libre and, in particular, the proud heritage of the Mysterio family. Tenay says for Rey to put his mask on the line, in his hometown with his family in the arena (the camera shows Rey’s wife and baby) only underscores just how important this rivalry has become. And it now comes to an end. Rey Mysterio versus Eddie Guerrero with the ultimate humiliation: if Rey loses, he must unmask, is next.

Eddie Guerrero w/Chavo Guerrero vs Rey Mysterio

The two former friends square up and each trade a near fall before facing each other again. Eddie snarls in disgust at Rey and spits at him which infuriates Rey who gives chase as Eddie bails from the ring. On the floor the two trade punches before Eddie throws Rey into the guardrail and chokes him right in front of Rey’s family. Back in the ring, Eddie begins to bump Rey around with a series of Triple Vertical Suplexes but Rey will not stop fighting.

When Eddie goes up for the Frog Splash, Rey leaps to the top rope and does a Superplex in one quick movement. Rey covers...1...2..Eddie kicks out. Rey goes on the offensive with high impact flying moves like a Top Rope Front Somersault, but this time it is Eddie who will not die.

When Rey misses a Missile Dropkick, Eddie ties up Rey’s legs with the Lasso From El Paso making Rey scream in pain. Eddie pulls the mask nearly off Rey’s head while Rey is in the hold in full view of his family and Eddie yells at Rey’s wife. Rey struggles, nearly blind, to get to the ropes but does and the ref breaks the hold as Rey puts his mask completely back on.

When Eddie charges Rey to continue the attack, Mysterio trips him into the ropes, bounces off the other side of the ropes and charges, swinging his legs into Eddie’s face (the 619). 1….2….Eddie kicks out again. Rey goes for the Hurricanrana but Eddie counters with a Powerbomb and this time Rey kicks out at 2. Eddie goes for the Frog Splash again but Rey hits the ropes and crotches Eddie on the top. Rey climbs up, nails the Hurricanranna and Rey covers….

1…

2….

3!!!! Rey Mysterio wins and keeps his mask and his dignity.

The cameras catch up to Mean Gene who is running to catch up to Tamara Sytch in the parking lot. Just as she is about to get into a shiny black sports car Gene stops her. Gene asks her what was what happened earlier all about? Tamara pauses, grins and says “just some window shopping”. With that Tamara gets into her car and speeds off into the night with the wind blowing her hair.

A hype video plays for Goldberg and Scott Hall. The Television Title is next.

Before the match begins, Hall does his survey about everyone in San Diego coming to see the nWo but before he can complete it, Goldberg makes his entrance while Hall looks cocky but then actually nervous when he stands before the TV Champ. The bell sounds and the match is on. Goldberg overpowers Hall early on but the crafty veteran takes advantage of Goldberg and nails a Fall Away Slam when Goldberg charges and then starts pounding away on the back of the TV Champion. Hall is able to nail a chokeslam for a one count when Goldberg kicks out like the Incredible Hulk. From there Goldberg nails Hall with Haymakers and a kick to the head but when he goes for a Spear, Hall knees Bill in the Head and lifts him up for the Outsiders Edge. Hall hits his signature move but Goldberg’s momentum sends him rolling out of the ring out of sight. Hall drops to his knees trying to get his second wind.

Nash comes down to ringside to give Hall a pep talk and encourage him when all of a sudden Goldberg, who has run around the ring unseen by the camera, spears Nash on the outside and Hall looks half afraid and half astonished.

Goldberg, gritting his teeth like a predator smelling that fear, climbs into the ring, Hall tries to attack but Goldberg kicks him in the stomach which stops him cold, then picks him up and delivers the jackhammer for the win.

WINNER BY PINFALL AND STILL WCW TELEVISION CHAMPION: GOLDBERG

As Goldberg marches up the ramp Hall in the ring and Nash outside are still down.

The announcers put over the fact that Scott Hall could be and perhaps one day will be, World Champion. That is how good he is. And Goldberg just walked through Scott as well as Big Sexy. Is there anyone that can stand in front of the human wrecking machine that is the Television Champion Goldberg? The nWo is in his sights and the nWo needs to fear Goldberg.

Tony, Dusty and Bobby put over Goldberg and then talk up our next match - Diamond Dallas Page is defending the honor of his wife and going after the Bad Boy of the NBA. DDP vs The Worm Dennis Rodman is next.

Page goes right at Rodman as soon as the bell sounds and has The Worm in the corner wailing away with rights and lefts. The ref has to admonish Page and that allows Rodman a chance to stick his thumb in DDP’s eye. From there Rodman actually shows some strong wrestling with some slams and a DDT for a two count. But, the Bad Boy of the NBA gets cocky and tries to do Page’s Diamond Cutter and Page reverses it into one of his own. Page calls for another Diamond Cutter and Syxxx gets onto the apron. Kimberly runs over and trips Syxxx’s leg which forces Syxxx to hit his face into the mat much to the crowd’s delight. Page nails the Diamond Cutter for a second time...1...2...3.

WINNER BY PINFALL: DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE

A commercial airs for WCW/nWo War Games featuring stars of WCW and the nWo in a montage that ends up inside the War Games double ring cage. WCW/nWo War Games will air from Winston Salem, North Carolina on Sunday night Week 3, September. Live and only on pay-per-view.

A hype video of the issues between Flair, Bret Hart and Hollywood Hogan airs. It shows how Flair was screwed over at Clash of the Champions, Bret’s challenge and subsequent anger at J.J. Dillon’s decision. The video ends with The Giant and Hogan celebrating. The video ends and we go to Michael Buffer who is in the ring and makes the introductions. It is time for our main event for the World Heavyweight Championship.

Bret “Hitman” Hart vs Ric Flair vs Hollywood Hogan © w/The Giant 

The story of this match at the beginning is Bret and Ric both wanting to be the one to unseat Hogan. And the champion, ever the crafty villain, uses that to his advantage when he slides to the floor and Bret and Ric give chase. Hogan lures Bret to charge but Hogan sidesteps him and Bret collides into Flair on the floor. The two then start wailing away on each other while Hogan goes back into the ring grinning like the Cheshire Cat.

Soon, Ric rolls Bret into the ring but when Ric goes to get in himself, The Giant pulls Ric out and slams him on the floor. The ref throws his hands up powerless to stop it, as the announcers cry foul but it is a Triangle Match and there are no disqualifications. Hogan takes off his weightlifting belt and whips the hell out of Bret before wrapping the belt around his fist and nailing Bret in the face over and over with the belt. At one point Hogan gouges Bret’s eye with the buckle. Once Bret is down and has rolled to the floor, Hogan calls for Giant to roll Flair in.

Hogan starts to beat down Flair as well, but Ric nails Hogan with a low blow. From there Ric is on Hollywood with chops and punches. Bret, bleeding from his eyebrow area, slides in but he has a chair in his hands. Flair whips Hogan into Bret who nails Hogan with the chair. The two icons team up on Hogan, busting the champion over and even do a double Super Suplex from the top rope. But when Flair goes for the cover, Bret pulls Ric off and the two are at each other again.

Flair scores a near fall with a small package before Bret tees off on Ric with punches and a Backbreaker. Bret calls for the Sharpshooter and locks it in. Flair screams as he scrambles for the ropes but it is Hogan who charges in and nails Bret to break the move. Hogan whips Bret into the ropes and goes for the Big Boot but Bret catches Hogan’s leg, uses his legs to trip Hogan and locks in the Sharpshooter.

Hogan screams and claws but Ric is back up and runs ramming his shoulder into the back of Bret. Flair whips Hogan into the ropes and clotheslines him over and the two start battling up the aisle. Flair has a bloody Hogan and slams him head first into a LifeGuard tower. Bret recovers and starts coming up and joins in but when it looks like Hogan is done for, The Giant is on the stage.

He grabs Bret by the throat and launches Bret off the stage through two surfboards, breaking them in half. Giant headbutts Flair and throws Flair over his shoulder carrying Ric to the ring. Giant nails Flair with two Chokeslams as Hogan crawls his way back in. Hogan nails the Legdrop while Giant orders the ref to count...1...2….3.

WINNER BY PINFALL AND STILL NWO WORLD CHAMPION: HOLLYWOOD HOGAN

The Giant continues his assault on Flair in the ring as Hart is laid out on the floor with medical personnel checking on The Hitman. The announcer's cry foul as The Giant screwed over both Hart and Ric Flair and the nWo continues to dominate WCW. With trash filling the ring, Hollywood cups his ear in a mocking fashion to the crowd and poses with the belt, having clearly survived a war, as WCW/nWo Bash at the Beach goes off the air.

Douglas recently said in an interview that when he was brought back to WCW in 1999 that there was originally supposed to be a major money feud with Ric Flair, but as usual, Russo somehow ruined a sure thing. Interested to see if Shane starts his own Anti-Horsemen to eventually go after Flair and the Horsemen.

Ah, great show!

The Franchise! I think I popped also haha Snagging Douglas away in 1998 is rough for ECW. Though he was injured, his presence was felt and definitely their top heel. Big fan of the guy though and great to see him debut here in this diary.

Sytch is interesting as keeping her involved with tag teams is very much in line with her character. The one thing I took away from the on-screen debut is using "Back In Black" as an entrance theme....which circles back to Douglas....which...maybe I'm getting ahead of myself here..

The rise of Goldberg has been a pleasure to read thus far.

I did think Kimberly was going to turn, because, it almost seemed to fit the bill, but I was pleasantly surprised not only did she not turn, she also was a big part of the end of the match! Though, perhaps someone within in her camp might not like what happened...

That no-good Giant seems he's going to be a real problem right now as Hogan's enforcer. I liked a lot of the chaos written in the main event and use of the stage!

Someone has been real conspicuous of their absence for awhile now but War Games is next (my favorite gimmick match all-time)!

The loose ends of Jericho/Adams and Guerrero/Mysterio tie up nicely. Also the title decisions overall were the right ones to make.

Monday Nitro opens with still photos of last night at WCW/nWo Bash at the Beach where Shane Douglas arrived in WCW, Tamara Sytch played games with the Steiners, Rey Mysterio prevailed over Eddie Guerrero, Diamond Dallas Page defeated Dennis Rodman and The Giant helped Hollywood Hogan hold onto his WCW World Heavyweight Championship. It’s the night after Bash at the Beach, what will happen here tonight on Nitro?

The pyro goes off as Tony, Mike & Larry welcome us to WCW Monday Nitro. We are twenty-four hours removed from Bash at the Beach where The Giant was the difference maker ensuring Hollywood Hulk Hogan would again escape with the Heavyweight Championship of the World. After being thrown off the stage last night by The Giant, we have learned that the Hitman Bret Hart has been discharged from the hospital and luckily only suffered minor bruising. WCW management is holding Bret off from being here tonight for his own well being but Bret will return next week to address what happened last night. But we have also been told that later tonight Executive Chairman of World Championship Wrestling, James J Dillon will be here to address next month’s pay-per-view, War Games and the War Games match. Ric Flair is here and will compete against Saturn later tonight. Also, G.T.T. won the #1 Contender’s match and tonight, in our 9pm hour, they will challenge The Steiner Brothers for the WCW World Tag Team Titles. This and so much more on a jam packed episode of Nitro but we open the night with the still masked Rey Mysterio. Lets go to the ring here on Nitro.

REY MYSTERIO JR. VS JERRY LYNN

Rey and Jerry have a back and forth fast paced and high flying match that spawns a commercial break. Early on Rey is dominating but he misses a Top Rope Hurricanrana and crashes to the mat and that allows Jerry Lynn to punish Rey’s knee with a half Boston Crab. The two trade some near falls before Lynn hits a Cradle Piledriver but only for a two count. When Lynn goes for a Powerbomb, Rey counters it into a Hurricanrana and into a package for the 1...2...3.

Lynn asks for another chance and Rey smiles and says “Let’s do it at War Games.” The two shake hands and a gentleman’s agreement is made. Rey Mysterio vs Jerry Lynn at War Games.

We go to the back parking lot. We see the same black sports car that Tamara Sytch left Bash at the Beach in last night but the car is empty. Apparently Tamara is here. What will she do tonight? Don’t go anywhere. Nitro is LIVE from the City of Angels and we will be right back on TNT.

Nitro returns to a hype video of Lex Luger’s greatest accomplishments in WCW. We are told that The Total Package will be making his return to WCW soon.

BUFF BAGWELL VS STEVIE RICHARDS

Buff is obviously angry at what happened to him last week and he takes it out on Raven’s flunkie. Stevie gets some weak offense but Buff punches Stevie right in his nose and Stevie sells like it is broken as Bagwell dominates from here on out. Bagwell hits the Blockbuster for the 3 count.

Bagwell takes the mic and says that last week on Nitro, The Giant returned and beat the hell out of Buff because Buff did not see it coming. Now people may think that this is crazy, but Buff Bagwell is not scared of The Giant. And next week on Nitro, Bagwell is going to call him out for a fight.

Last night Goldberg took a cheap shot at Big Sexy when all Nash was doing was being a good buddy. Well Kevin did not have a problem with Bill, but now he does. And one day..one day soon...Goldberg is going to pay for that mistake last night.

Hugh attacks Nash from behind as soon as the bell sounds and actually gets Big Sexy onto the mat after a vicious Poweslam. Hugh goes up top to hit No Laughing Matter and covers...1...2...Nash gets a foot on the ropes. After that, Hugh makes a mistake when he charges Nash and gets a back elbow to the Jaw and soon eats Snake Eyes and Big Boot and the Jackknife for the 3 count.

The challengers attack the champs before the bell with chairs just brutalizing the Steiners until referees threaten to cancel the match. Rick and Scott try to get to their feet and the ref makes sure that the match can go before sounding the bell. For the first half of the match G.T.T. keeps Rick from his brother and just destroys The Dog Faced Gremlin with power moves but they can never get the win. Eventually LoMonaco misses a splash in the corner and Rick nails him with a vicious Steinerline and makes the slow crawl to his brother. Just as Devon gets tagged in, so does Scotty. Devon charges but Scott does a standing Hurricanrana on Devon and starts Suplexing him around the ring. Mark blasts Scotty from behind and its 2 on 1 until Rick is back in the fight and Mark and Rick end up on the floor. After trying a Diamond Cutter like move onto Scott, Devon goes for a Crossbody but Scotty catches him, lifts him up and nails the Steiner Screwdriver. 1….2….3.

Tamara Sytch comes out in a black skintight outfit walking in a sultry manner down to the ring. She blows a kiss at the camera as Tamara steps up to the ring and gets on the apron. She steps in the ring and then walks around both men, lightly touching them yet again and then winking at both and then steps out of the ring. That is when two men slide in from behind…..

They attack the champs from behind and begin beating up both men. The two men do a Spiked Piledriver to Scott while Tamara cheers them on and gloats to Ted who is shocked. When Rick struggles to get up, the two men do a Double Powerbomb on Rick Steiner.

After the carnage is done, Tamara walks into the ring and proceeds to make out with one of the men and then kisses the other. They put her on their shoulders as Tony calls for help from the announce booth for the champs.

Nitro returns to Tamara and her boys walking out of the building. The taller one gets into her sports car’s driver’s seat. Tamara sits in the lap of the other one who is in the passenger side. They are all happy with themselves as they drive out into the Los Angeles night.

BLITZKRIEG VS JUVENTUD GUERERRA VS LA PARKA

Typical Cruiserweight back and forth high spot match. Blitzkrieg actually gets a chance to shine here as he does Juvie’s 450 but adds another rotation to it and nearly beats Juvie with it. La Parka tries to use a chair but the ref pulls it from him and Parka acts like its the end of the world, kicking the ropes and really being comical with his selling. The finish comes when Juvie does a Brainbuster on La Parka and then nails the 450 to Blitzkrieg, showing him how it's done, for the 3 count.

Shane comes out and introduces himself to Gene. The two are gloating about how they beat down Chris Benoit last night at Bash at the Beach. And Shane says that this is all part of a much larger plan. They have an ulterior motive. They have a goal. And Chris Benoit is just one part of that goal. He is one step in achieving that goal. He is merely collateral damage. And when he is ready and healthy enough to fight, his ass is going to get franchised. Gene is disgusted as he tells us not to go anywhere. When we come back, The Nature Boy will be in action against Saturn.

Monday Nitro returns to a cameraman racing up a hallway telling random staffers to get out of the way. When the cameraman gets to the area he is trying to reach, we see The Giant throwing Buff Bagwell around. He grabs Buff by the neck and throws Buff back first into a well. All the while yelling that Buff isn’t man enough to call out The Giant. Giant grabs Buff by the head and launches his body back first through a window where he crashes into another room and the occupants try to help Buff. Giant looks down at his victim, sneers and walks away while help rushes to Buff.

RIC FLAIR W/ARN ANDERSON VS SATURN

Flair starts by showboating Saturn in typical Nature Boy fashion and it makes the usually expressionless Saturn crack a smile. It is a set up though, as Flair thumb’s Saturn’s eye and throws him into the corner lighting up Saturn’s chest with chops. Flair works on the knee of Saturn to go for the Figure Four but Saturn launches Flair to the floor by using Flair’s tights. On the floor, Saturn drops Flair shoulder first on steps and does a German Suplex on the floor. In the ring Saturn beats Flair down and scores several near falls and works on Ric’s shoulder. When Saturn goes for the Rings of Saturn, Flair drops down and hooks Saturn’s leg and then tries to work on Saturn’s knee again. Saturn goes for a backslide but Flair’s foot is in the ropes and when Saturn tries a Brainbuster, Flair hooks a rope with his hand and forces Saturn down and into a small package for the 3 count.

As soon as this match is over, Saturn attacks Flair from behind while Ric is celebrating his win. Saturn locks in the Rings of Saturn on Flair while Arn tells the ref to get help. The crowd comes to life when…..

Booker T races down to the ring from the back and punches Saturn who is waiting for Booker as soon as he enters the ring. Booker nails Saturn over and over with punches until Ric Flair clotheslines him over the ropes.

Arn gets into the ring and looks at Booker and then at Ric. Booker shakes Ric’s hand and leaves the ring while Arn and Ric both put up 4 fingers. Has Booker in fact accepted the offer to join the Horsemen?

We go to the back and see James J Dillon walking toward the ringside area. His WarGames announcement will close the show...after this final time out.

Nitro returns to James J Dillon in the ring with Mean Gene Okerlund. He says that in less than four weeks, it will be time for WCW and the nWo to go to war. WCW has decided to drop the traditional name of “Fall Brawl” because that event is always about one thing….war. Specifically War Games.

And so that is what the event will be called. And on that night it will be 5 members of World Championship Wrestling and 5 members of the New World Order stepping into the most dangerous match in professional wrestling….War Games. So lets get down to the stak….

Hollywood Hogan and the nWo start coming down to the ring before cops race past them and guard the ring area to keep them from entering and attacking JJ. Hogan mocks JJ’s flunkies but says he can relax because the nWo is in a good mood and the nWo is not hear to beat up on little JJ and if they were, those mall cops would not be able to stop the nWo from taking WCW’s top executive out.

But the reason that they’re in a good mood is because WCW lost….again….last night. WCW was humiliated...again….last night and it is cute that JJ thinks that he has any power over the nWo to demand them to enter any match. Hollywood & the nWo does what they want, when they want and there is not a damned thing that WCW can do about it. And the fact of the matter is that in 1996, the nWo beat WCW in War Games. In 1997, the nWo beat WCW in War Games. There is no need for it to happen for a third time.

So the answer is no.

Hogan and the nWo go to leave but JJ says that is fine but then Hollywood can hand over that belt right this moment. Hogan looks at JJ like he has 3 different heads and laughs but JJ is serious. JJ goes on to explain that the nWo doesn’t have Bischoff here anymore. He’s gone. He’s fired and that’s a shoot. So the nWo lost the protection that they all had *from* WCW.

Here’s another “shoot” - all of the members of the nWo are under contract to World Championship Wrestling. And they always were. But they had the then president of this company letting them get away with murder. And that ends now. So Hogan, if the nWo wants to refuse to fight WCW in this match? That’s fine. JJ will give the nWo one week to decide.

But if the nWo chooses to refuse to fight in this match, then Hollywood Hogan will hand over the WCW Title to JJ nexand the rest of the members of the New World Order will breach their contracts and WCW will sue all of them for everything that they own. The choice is theirs.

Hogan is stunned and furious and left with a decision to make. Will the nWo face WCW in War Games in Twenty Seven days? Or will Hogan drop the belt and they all breach their contracts? Hogan is realizing that the deck may actually be stacked against the nWo for the first time in two years as Nitro goes off the air.
