POST-SHOW PRESS CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS

Charles Dayton of The Neon Express on picking up their first UPJ win over a team like WILD, "A W is a W no matter how you look at it, no matter who takes the L. Me and Jackson? We've taken a lot of L's and this first W didn't come easy, but it's the first of many, I can promise you that, baby!"

Fergus Storm on getting another win over Hall of the United Throne, "I couldn't care less about Hall of United whatever, or which masked ninny UPJ has me fightin' this week. Like I said the other night, and I've yet to hear an answer: Jin Fujiwara, Steampunk Assassin-- where ya' hidin' that right pretty title?"

Cameron Cody on losing the rematch against The Dream, "It just wasn't meant to be tonight, Matsuo took the fall and now, like our opponents say, 'the dream is over'. Me and Junichi gotta start over again, work our way back to another match to get the gold back. But, we'll get there."

There was also a brief shouting match between Kato and Go Takashi, the type of raucous angle that has become more commonplace at UPJ press conferences. Kato was answering a question about whether he felt prepared for the new challenge Takashi presented by scoffing at the idea he was a challenge at all. Go Takashi then appeared, demanding respect and the two competitors nearly came to blows before being separated by Kenta Sonada.

POST-SHOW PRESS CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS

"The God Emperor" Kintaro Kinjo on Explosive Spark's victory this evening, "Kinjo-jidai is always successful when I am in the ring, that fact does not change. I am still unsatisfied with the performance of my cohorts, but we are dealing with that slowly. I have already told Ishii that there will be dire consequences should he not triumph over Erik van Rijn; I have also demanded Torture & Eda bring me the International Tag Team titles, and I have tasked LeFever with bringing Junior Heavyweight gold back to Kinjo-jidai. The God Emperor has spoken."

Atonga on Pure MUSCLE's stronghold on the International Tag Team titles, "No one, no tag team in Japan, in the world, will take these titles away from me and Ebisawa, you heard? Kinjo-jidai? Psh, era's almost over. HardRockCity? We done showed you tonight, they a bunch of punks. United Throne? Who? They even got a team to put against us? Cuz they ain't looking very united these days. Ignite Muscle Army! What?"

"The Great Rebel" Oda Yamawaki on his post-Summit success, "The only way to go is up-- I have recently failed against the International Heavyweight Champion, and so I must build my record again. I will get there, and I will get there on my own."

Go Takashi on his recent promises of backup coming to UPJ, "I meant what I said; I don't need Katsuhiko Ishii or The God Emperor standing behind me because I already have a machine working for me, working with me. I have not come back to Japan alone and, soon, my group will reveal itself."

POST-SHOW PRESS CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS

"The God Emperor" Kintaro Kinjo on Kinjo-jidai's losses to HardRockCity and Kato tonight, "I have said, again and again, that there will be consequences for failure; tonight I make good. Yamashita, if you wish to continue alongside me... then you must best me in the ring. Failure, of course, means your disposal from Kinjo-jidai and, indeed, from United Promotions Japan because we will not allow you to exist here anymore! As for my Floundering Favorite, I will give him one last chance... beat Erik van Rijn or there will be dire consequences."

Go Takashi on the 3-on-1 attack against Kato along with The Neon Express, "You are seeing the genesis of a new world order in United Promotions Japan. I told you there was a machine with me, and now, maybe you are beginning to understand what I meant. I am not alone... WE are not alone... Kato is first victim, but when all is revealed, he will be just another faceless victim in the wreckage of United Promotions Japan!"

Erik van Rijn on warming up for his match with "God's Favorite" Katsuhiko Ishii, "I felt good tonight, attack on Kato aside. But I want to really test myself before the end of the tour, that's why I'm challenging The Great Rebel himself, Oda Yamawaki. Your recent success is impressive, but can you keep it up against the Big Red Machine?"

PRESS CONFERENCE

May 26, 2021 from Saitama, Kanto, Japan

Presented by Blue Rhino, Star PPV, UPJ+, and Fokkusutēru Whiskey

V0nTyjK.jpg

■ Kenta Sonada is the representative present for United Promotions Japan, as per usual at these press conferences. He thanks everyone in attendance, and assures the press that violent outbursts from the talent will not be tolerated any further; fines will be levied against those who cannot conduct themselves professionally. To that end, all UPJ talent not scheduled for this press conference have been asked not to attend.

Sonada then announces the main event for the evening, UPJ International Heavyweight Champion “The God Emperor” Kintaro Kinjo defending against the second man who pinned him in the Ozeki Summit, Juro Deguchi.

■ Deguchi bows to Kinjo, who lightly nods his head in acknowledgement before they take their places on either side of Sonada’s podium to start fielding questions. The first goes to the International Heavyweight Champion, asking if he feels distracted with all the recent turbulence within Kinjo-jidai. The God Emperor scoffs and answers, "There is no turbulence, because I have informed them all that failures and distraction will no longer be tolerated. Mr. Yamashita is gone; if my Favorite fails against his opponent, he will be gone. I have seen to it that every member of Kinjo-jidai has a spot on the card this evening, and victory is the only acceptable outcome."

Another reporter asks Deguchi how he feels about his own faction, HardRockCity, heading into the tour finale. Deguchi smiles and responds, "Every member of HardRockCity will be competing tonight as well, and I would put their win-loss record tonight against any other faction in Japan. Cameron Cody and Junichi Matsuo may have lost gold recently, but they're willing to put in the work to get it back. Filipino Fire Power will best Eda & Torture and move on to challenge for the International Tag Team titles. WILD will show those Neon gaijin dogs the what for. The Era of Kinjo is drawing to a close and the HardRockEra is upon us!"

After a few more questions, a reporter draws Kinjo's ire by asking if he fears losing to Deguchi a second time. With spite in his tone, Kinjo answers, "I meant what I said about failure no longer being tolerated, and I expect my disciples to hold me to the same standard of excellence. Deguchi got lucky in the Ozeki Summit, and pinned a fatigued and injured God Emperor; that does not make him a demigod. Juro Deguchi is a mere mortal, and in the end, he will bend the knee to The God Emperor."

Asked his response, Deguchi smiles again. "The God Emperor is sure of himself, but his air of arrogance will prove to be his undoing. There is no greater way to failure than claiming infallibility, and Kinjo will understand this when he stares at the lights for three seconds."

A few more questions are asked before Sonada has the two man square off for a photo opportunity and dismisses them from the media hall.

■ Sonada makes mention of all the Kinjo-jidai and HardRockCity-centric matches scheduled for this evening before working his way into the rest of the card. He apologizes for not having more talent available to the media this morning, but notes that they are all busy preparing to put on a show tonight. As he is about to thank the media for coming, a small commotion kicks up from around the area where talent usually enter the hall.

Go Takashi, Fergus Storm, and The Neon Express make their way into the media hall, and you could say they all have the drip-- Takashi and Storm are dressed to the nines, while Charles Dayton and Jackson Kyle wear denim pants and leather vests over shirts that bear the kanji for "shattered" on them.

Sonada demands order, and reminds the men that factions are not supposed to appear in the media hall together. Addressing Sonada and the media in English, Takashi steps up to the podium.

"Sonada-san, you can stick it," Takashi begins as the gathered reporters gasp and Kenta Sonada himself clenches his fists in anger. "My boys and I are out here to remind everyone that, like I've said all tour long... all will be revealed, and that revelation is coming... tonight! Kato, you will never forget what transpires in that ring, I promise you that, Mister Pitbull."

Takashi steps away from the podium, Neon Express playing to the reporters all the while and acting as hype men for the other two members of this emerging faction. Fergus Storm adjusts his suit and steps up to the podium before removing his glasses and giving the media a smirking pose.

"Jim Fujiwara... Steampunk Assassin... come around tonight, I'll kick your ass in, and I'll take that right pretty Junior Heavyweight title from around your waist and hoist it up high for my new brothers-in-arms. Mark my words, after tonight? Things will never be the same in United Promotions Japan, or on this whole damn island! We'll see ya out there tonight!"

Takashi and Storm make to leave, but Dayton and Kyle rush to the podium.

"Hey, hey, Fergus, Fergus," Kyle says excitedly, waving Storm back over. "What, uh... what was that thing you taught us?" he snickers. Fergus Storm laughs and waves him off, but Dayton pats the Scottish native on the shoulder and encourages him.

"Alright, alright, I've said it before, but... get tae, the lot of ya!" Storm waves off the media with contempt as The Neon Express pops.

"Yeah! Yeah! Get tae, all of ya!" Kyle snickers, patting Storm on the back as the quartet make their way off. Kenta Sonada apologizes and promises to levy fines against all four of them before inviting everyone to order the pay-per-view or tune in on UPJ+ tonight for Global Unity 2021.

UPJ International Heavyweight Title Match “The God Emperor” Kintaro Kinjo © versus Juro Deguchi

I like Deguchi, but he's not the one that'll be dethroning the God Emperor.

UPJ International Tag Team Title Match Pure MUSCLE (Atonga & Taheiji Ebisawa) © versus PunkRockCity (Danger Asahara & TOKI INK)

The challengers have had zero fanfare leading up to this match, so I can't see them unseating the champions here.

UPJ Junior Heavyweight Title Match “The Steampunk Assassin” Jin Fujiwara © versus Fergus Storm

My big upset of the night has Fergus win gold to bring credibility to his new stable with Go Takashi.

UPJ Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Title Match The Dream (Kozue & Magnum Idol) © versus Hall of the United Throne (SHOGUN & Hiryu)

No chance for the challengers here.

“God’s Favorite” Katsuhiko Ishii versus “The Big Red Machine” Erik van Rijn

I think Ishii loses to further strain the relationship between Kinjo and Ishii.

Kato versus Go Takashi

It's hard to pick against Takashi given he's new and has his own unit, but Kato is one of your top stars and has a title match coming up.

Furosuto versus Ryotaro Naruto

Can't see any reason you'd have one of your top Juniors lose to a guy way past his prime.

“The Great Rebel” Oda Yamawaki versus “The Puerto Rican Pitbull” Alvaro Buey III

Oda's too big a challenge for ABIII.

Waotaka Eda & Torture versus Filipino Fire Power (Amado Ocampo & Apolinario)

Tough choice because I think you have more longterm plans for Fillipino Fire Power, but Eda & Torture have Kinjo cheering them on and it's a fresher match for the tag team championship.

Cameron Cody & Junichi Matuso versus Akito Nakada & Haruko Yamada

Cody & Matuso both have potential to be stars of the division.

Koji Yamada versus Bruiser Cassidy

Bruiser is one of the more underrated guys on your roster.

The Neon Express (Charles Dayton & Jackson Kyle) versus WILD (Hidetsugu Genji & Joao Iwahara)

You seem to be giving the Neon Express a big push.

Dustin LeFever versus Kyle Walker

The fact I can't remember who Kyle Walker is suggests he is not winning here.
