WI Saturday Sansani Episode 34 Prediction Card

Tiger Singh & Dr Dinesh Dhawan vs Gupta & Tendulkar

In my game Gupta handed in his notice a month into the game after I had given him three wins in a row, so I'd be rooting for him to lose even if he wasn't facing your biggest star.

Jash Patel vs Lucky Mahal

Could be the old 50-50 booking, but Jash is one of the more underrated guys on your roster and I think him winning to set up a title match with Vijay Samson makes a lot of sense.

Cloud James vs Duane Davies

James is just on a higher level.

Qasir vs Viswamitra Raj

I like Qasir as a prospect, but he's going to need time to develop.

Cesar Kaslow planning changes already? Sandeep Gupta causing issues backstage

Last updated 10 January 2021

With Wrestling India's first taping session of the year complete, rumours are circulating that Cesar Kaslow is already planning to amend the company's schedule. Kaslow is said to be disappointed by the attention span of the audience who had virtually given up by the time the fourth episode's content was being taped. The WI Head of Creative is said to have requested that Baba Taru Singh and Bharat Chowdhary rearrange the venue bookings for a three-show taping going forward. For their part, Singh and Chowdhary agree with the decision, but are nevertheless frustrated having been operating on a two-show taping schedule prior to Kaslow's arrival. In fact, it's being said that Kaslow was advised by Chowdhary that a four-episode taping would be too much, but his advice was ignored by the American. A source inside the company has reported to us that amongst the roster Kaslow is acting as the hero in the piece, inaccurately blaming his predecessors for booking the longer session last week.

In other WI news, Sandeep Gupta is once again 'wheeling and dealing' his way around the company, forming political alliances that he hopes will work in his advantage. As usual, the rest of the locker room is far from happy with his tactics. There is no news on who Gupta is forming his alliances with, but it seems likely that his tag partner Ajit Tendulkar is involved in some form.

The show opens up to the sound of boos as <strong>Sir William Whitlingham</strong> and <strong>Duane Davies </strong>make their way down to the ring. “Hellboy” Duane Davies kicks things off by reminding fans that last week's show featured a match between Taha Chhetri and Sir William, a match which began with a cheap shot from Chhetri. From that moment on, this was no fair fight and as one-half of the tag champions, Chhetri should be setting a better example. In fact, he still should, and he definitely needs to make it up to Sir William tonight! And more than that, when Hellboy himself beats Cloud James in their own singles match later on today, he'll be expecting a free case of Tequilamigos by way of an apology!</p><p> </p><p>

</p><p><img alt="O1tQt6K.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/O1tQt6K.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="yCpL5xc.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/yCpL5xc.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p></p><p></p><p>

That was the cue for <strong>Cloud James </strong>and <strong>Taha Chhetri </strong>to make their way out to the ring, microphones in hand. The tag champs laugh off the suggestion from Davies that the contest last week was anything but a clear indication that Chhetri is the better athlete. Sir William grabs the microphone from Duane and starts shouting at Chhetri, demanding a rematch right now! Just as Chhetri looks set to accept, Duane steps in and says that there is no way that he is going to accept a rematch after what happened last week. No, says Hellboy, the only way to make things right is to offer up the tag team titles...next week! The fans seem excited by the prospect of the tag titles being defended on next week's Saturday Sansani, but two people in the arena are far from happy...</p><p> </p><p>

...<strong>Amaan Singh</strong> and <strong>Ranjin Vidur</strong> come out and wait at the top of the ramp. They remind the four men in the ring that if anyone deserves a tag team title shot it is the Bollywood Knights, the best team in Indian wrestling history. In fact, they demand that they be the ones to receive the title shot next week instead! James and Chhetri say that both teams have a point, but it really isn't up to them who gets a title shot. They'll face any and all comers, but for now? Let's fight! A brawl breaks out between James and Chhetri and Whitlingham and Davies, and even the Knights look set to get involved before a horde of security rush down to the ring to break up the chaos.</p><p>

“One Man”</span></strong><strong> QASIR vs </strong><strong><span style="font-size:8px;">“The Stretcher”</span></strong><strong> VISWAMITRA RAJ</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Viswamitra Raj isn't called “The Stretcher” for nothing, and whilst there is more to his game than mere submissions, it is immediately clear that he is much more comfortable on the mat working a specific body part than he is in the air with the flashy Qasir. In fact, it was Qasir that gained the upper hand early on in this match, primarily through being quick enough to escape the submission attempts of his opponent. However, once Raj had managed to ground his opponent, things turned very quickly and it wasn't long before “The Stretcher” proved why he is such a hot commodity in Wrestling India, submitting Qasir with the <em>Viswamitra Stretch</em>.</p><p>

The energetic theme music of “The Maharajah of Bollywood” <strong>Vijay Samson</strong> interrupts the celebration of <strong>Viswamitra Raj</strong> and boos replace cheers as the Spark India Champion makes his way onto the stage. Vijay looks extremely pleased with himself and waits for what seems like an eternity before bringing the microphone in his hand up to his lips. Vijay begins by congratulating Viswamitra Raj on his victory. Samson seems less than sincere, however, and when he suggests that he could have beaten Qasir in half the time, it's clear that whatever the champ's purpose is, it isn't to make Raj feel better about himself. Samson acknowledges that Raj has been on something of a winning streak of late, but says that it is far too early for him to be considered the #1 contender to the Spark India Championship. No, before that can happen, before someone can step into the ring with a title as prestigious as his, the hoops jumped through must be much higher. The fans boo as it becomes clear that Raj will need to continue his fight for a title shot for some time longer. Vijay, once again oblivious to the audience reaction, says that while he can't come out here and grant Raj a title shot, he has something even better for him. Samson reminds fans that tomorrow (or, more accurately, the day after the episode is due to air) is the Tamil festival of Pongal. As such, he feels that it is only right to commemorate the occasion, and Viswamitra Raj's victory with a special guest...</p><p> </p><p>

</p><p><img alt="Mjmd1sk.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Mjmd1sk.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p></p><p></p><p>

...the sound of mooing is the first clue to fans in attendance that Vijay's special guest is an unusual one. And when a cow finally emerges onto the stage, laughter erupts around the small arena. Vijay reminds fans of the Pongal tradition of decorating cows, and says he's done just that. Well, the Mahals have done just that, Vijay has sensitive hands. Meet Viswamitra the Cow, the finest specimen in all of Wrestling India, and a true reflection of Viswamitra the wrestler. As an incensed Viswamitra leans on the top rope shouting at Vijay, his bovine counterpart begins to get a bit agitated and a host of staff appear to cut the segment short, cautiously guide the cow back behind the curtain as Vijay Samson takes a bow, lapping up the “applause” he is convinced that he is getting!</p><p>

Cloud James and Duane Davies have fought each other numerous times before, both in tag team matches and singles matches, but this is the first time that the two have faced off in Wrestling India. As anyone with a passing interest in CWT (now known as NCW) will have seen this bout countless times before; a straight up, old school Southern brawl which saw both men leave it all in the ring. This wasn't the bloody encounter that fans of the duo would have seen before, this is a family friendly show after all, but it was nevertheless one of the most stiff that WI fans will have seen. Cloud edged the encounter for much of its near-10 minute duration, and brought the match to a close with a <em>Whiskey Sour Rider</em> on “Hellboy”.</p><p>

The action cuts to a rare backstage segment where raised voices appear to be coming from an office marked “Management”. As the camera man sneaks up to the slightly ajar door, we see <strong>Baba Taru Singh</strong> and <strong>Rick Thunder</strong> once again face-to-face, anger clear on both faces. Singh demands that Thunder explain his actions last week, reminding the big man that this is a family promotion and there is absolutely no place for actions as violent as those that saw “Boulder” try to break the arm of WI World Champion Tiger Singh. Thunder simply smirks at Singh and goes to turn away but Baba grabs Rick's arm and spins him back to face him. Thunder's smile disappears in a flash and he warns the Wrestling India President to never, ever, touch him again. Thunder reminds Baba that his in-ring career is long over, but that isn't going to stop the American from putting the veteran down if he needs to. As things looks set to escalate, the cameraman is pushed out of the way by an unknown figure...</p><p> </p><p>

...by the time the camera has come back into focus, we see <strong>Tiger Singh</strong> has joined Baba Taru Singh and Rick Thunder in the office. By now Thunder has turned his attentions to the champion, who doesn't take his eyes off his rival. Rick Thunder says that he wants a rematch, and Tiger Singh agrees. At the right time, these two are going to face off, and it's going to be a fight that will leave neither man the same!</p><p>

If Lucky Mahal (and his ever-present brother Prince) thought that this match was an opportunity to right a wrong from last week they were very much mistaken. Jash Patel, buoyed by a series of strong victories over the past month or so, took charge early on and never looked like letting up. In fact, at one point Lucky seemed to be leaving the ring to be counted out, until his young Pakistani opponent dragged him back before the 10 count. A <em>Patel Press </em>just after just five minutes was enough to bring this one to an end.</p><p>

It's pouring down with rain in New Delhi, and the mortuary service entrance at one of the city's hospitals was a dark, drab and downright terrifying sight as its fading light bulbs, flickering on and off, causing shadows to dance behind the windows of the double doors. As the camera focused in on the glass panes, it became clear that one of those shadows wasn't that at all, and slowly the face of <strong>Lugosi </strong>came into focus. A flash temporarily blinded the camera and suddenly, as if by magic, Lugosi was no longer behind the door...his pale face was now just inches away from the camera. Whispering, Lugosi stated that he had been on a pilgrimage. A voyage. A trial of fire. And he'd learnt that of all his failings, one was the most unforgivable. From now on, Lugosi had his eyes, his mind, set on one thing. The prize. The longing. The yearning. The hunger. Another flash of light once again blinds the camera, but as it returns to focus Lugosi is once again behind the doors of the mortuary. Only this time he is walking away, laughing maniacally as screams emanate from within...</p><p>

<strong>TIGER SINGH & DR DINESH DHAWAN vs GUPTA & TENDULKAR</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Tiger Singh and Dr Dinesh Dhawan are two of the greatest wrestlers to ever perform for Wrestling India. At this early stage in their careers Sandeep Gupta and Ajit Tendulkar are not. So what was designed to be a fast-paced and varied main event ended up being a bit of a mixed bag, with moments of excitement followed by slow passages that didn't really flow. Nevertheless, the crowd were fully behind the two veterans and the wonderfully committed Indian audience were more than happy to rain down boos on the ring whenever Gupta and Tendulkar took charge. For all that this was designed to be an open contest that showed the skills of all four wrestlers, few fans in attendance expected anything other than a victory for Tiger and the good doctor. Tiger Singh's <em>Delhi Driver </em>after twelve minutes was enough to keep Ajit Tendulkar down for the three count, bringing to a close a match that had perhaps lasted a little too long to do any of the four men a favour. Nevertheless, the sight of Tiger Singh and Dr Dinesh Dhawan shaking hands in celebration as the show went off the air was a sight that many fans of the company will be glad to see!</p><p>

<p>Fantastic show, the Vijay segment was some awesome (and creative) heel work. Unfortunate to get a main event grade that low with Tiger Singh of all people in it, but given the calibre of the opposing team it's not too big a surprise. I remember from my own WI game Sandeep Gupta starts with negative momentum, while Ajit Tendulkar is probably the worst all round talent in India combining poor in ring skills with non-existent charisma and star quality.</p><p> </p><p>

Edit: I also love the Lugosi vignettes, excited to see where you go with that.</p>

Spark India and Wrestling India have released the following preview for the upcoming episode of WI Saturday Sansani:</p><p> </p><p>

This week on Saturday Sansani there is gold on the line as Vijay Samson puts up the Spark India Championship for the first time in 2021. His challenger hasn't been confirmed, with some rumours that a newcomer to the promotion will get the shot. With Rick Thunder continuing to bait Wrestling India's World Champion Tiger Singh, and company president Baba Taru Singh, the booking committee has put him in a match with Dr Dinesh Dhawan. Win the match and Thunder looks to cement his chance for a rematch with Tiger Singh in the coming weeks, but a defeat could seriously dent the American's chances of another title shot. Elsewhere, the Bollywood Knights will face off with Duane Davies and Sir William Whitlingham in a #1 contenders match for the Indian National Tag Team titles. The winners will go on to face Tequilamigos in a title match at an unspecified date. Finally a four corners match between Ajit Tendulkar, Jash Patel, Vikram Chetri and Viswamitra Raj could lead to some interest dynamic shifts in the roster; could the winner go on to challenge for a title? Only time will tell! All this, and more, this Saturday on Spark India Sports!</p><p> </p><p>

WI Saturday Sansani Episode 35 Prediction Card

Dr Dinesh Dhawan vs Rick Thunder

Thunder needs to win here to be a credible threat to tiger.

#1 Contenders Match: Bollywood Knights vs Duane Davies & Sir William Whitlingham

Weird to see a Heel vs Heel match here, so part of me things there will be some kind of swerve.

Spark India Championship: Vijay Samson vs ????

India has a lot of interesting free agents, but none that I see going over Samson.

Ajit Tendulkar vs Jash Patel vs Vikram Chetri vs Viswamitra Raj

I like Jash and Vikram, but Raj has a victory cow on his side.

Has Rick Thunder gotten into the heads of Tiger and Baba Taru Singh?

Thunder In Paradise?

Saturday Sansani Episode #35 kicked off with a rare backstage segment, with Tiger Singh and Baba Taru Singh discussing the recent actions of “Boulder” Rick Thunder. What was clear from the segment was that neither Tiger nor Baba were happy with the American, but felt that the only true way to settle things was in the ring. Tiger Singh would surely have been keeping a close watch on the show's main event as Rick Thunder took on Dr Dinesh Dhawan in singles competition. Whilst not officially a number one contenders match, the contest was seen as such by many fans given the importance of a victory to Thunder's future title hopes. The match itself was close-fought, but Thunder came out victorious after a Thunderous Leg Drop at 9:59. After his victory, Rick Thunder promised everyone watching at home, in the arena, and in the locker room that the time for fun and games had passed. Rick Thunder is the man, and he was going to prove it one way or another.

Could Viswamitra Raj triumph in a four corners match with Patel, Chetri and Tendulkar?

Find The Spark

The first match of the night saw four young hopefuls compete in a four corners match. Ajit Tendulkar, Jash Patel, Vikram Chetri and Viswamitra Raj all put on a solid showing, but the momentum that Patel and Raj have seen in recent weeks saw them shine particularly brightly. Patel was the first to come close to the victory, but Viswamitra Raj was able to break up the pin with ref's hand a whisker away from the mat. Raj would eventually take the victory, locking in a Viswamitra Stretch on Vikram Chetri while Patel and Tendulkar fought, obliviously, on the outside.

Captain India took on Vijay Samson, but all was not as it seemed

Impersonating an Officer

With Raj seemingly setting himself up for another Spark India Championship match in the next few weeks, Vijay Samson claimed that no one in the Wrestling India locker room was ready for a shot at his title. Vijay, flanked as ever by Prince Mahal, explained that he had gone out and recruited a challenger for the evening. That challenger was none other than the mysterious masked man Captain India. The newcomer was completely outclassed by the champion who hit The Big Deal after just three minutes to secure the third defence of his title. As Samson stood tall over his fallen foe, Viswamitra Raj came rushing down to the newcomer's aid. However, it wasn't long before Raj's suspicions were raised and he shocked fans by attacking Captain India in the centre of the ring! The reason for the attack became immediately clear when Raj unmasked Captain India to reveal Samson's other stooge, Lucky Mahal. No wonder the title match was so easy for the champion!

The Bollywood Knights took on Duane Davies & Sir William Whitlingham to decide the #1 Contenders for Tequilamigos' tag team titles

Tag Teams on Trial

While the matches covered above were seen as setting up future challengers for titles, the contest between the Bollywood Knights and the new tandem of Duane Davies and Sir William Whitlingham was officially a #1 contenders match, with the victors set to take on Tequilamigos in a few weeks' time. The Bollywood Knights experience as a duo was enough to edge out the contest and despite a surprisingly cohesive Hellboy/Sir William combo, the contest went to the former Indian National Tag Team champions after a tenth minute Singhshot Suplex. After the match was over our tag champs, Tequilamigos, Cloud James and Taha Chhetri, came out to congratulate the Bollywood Knights for their victory. They did, however, warn Singh and Vidur that the stipulation for their title match would be up to the champions, and it wasn't going to be easy for the Knights!

Apologies for the delay in getting that show up, real life has become busier than ever of late. As you can see I've tried a new format for the shows that will be much quicker to write but, hopefully, still entertaining. It should allow me to progress through the shows more quickly which will keep the narrative flowing much better than me posting more detailed shows a number of weeks apart.

For anyone looking to recreate the enormous success of Captain India, the render is below and I'll post it in the alt thread for anyone not reading:

Four Champions, Four Corners: Cloud James vs Taha Chhetri vs Tiger Singh vs Vijay Samson

Singh is the man, and while you could have someone else pick up the win here without hurting him I'm not sure why you would.

Dr Dinesh Dhawan vs Sir William Whitlingham

Both are past their peak, but Dr Dinesh's peak was world champion, while Sir William is a midcard comedy act.

Jash Patel vs Sandeep Gupta

I like Jash, but I'd be picking just about anyone over Sandeep.

Mercury Dynamite vs The Ring Crew

The Ring Crew sound like masked jobbers, so I'll take Mercury Dynamite here.
