falling_star
World Championship Wrestling, Episode 5 of 1992 <div style="padding: 10px; border: 6px solid #000000; margin:10px;background: #FFFFFF; max-width:60%; ";"> WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING WEEK ONE - FEBRUARY 1992 FROM JAFFA SHRINE CENTER ANNOUNCE TEAM: JIM ROSS, TONY SCHIAVONE, AND DUSTY RHODES <hr> The announce team welcome us to an action-packed edition of World Championship Wrestling, saying there's no time to waste and sending us straight to the ring! MARCUS ALEXANDER BAGWELL VERSUS "BEAUTIFUL" BOBBY EATON w/ PAUL E. DANGEROUSLY Marcus Alexander Bagwell’s issues with The Dangerous Alliance started several weeks back when he refused an offer from Paul E. Dangerously to take a TV title shot away from Ron Simmons. Since then, he’s been injured and returned to save Shane Douglas from “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton. This match is a back-and-forth affair that sees Dangerously getting himself ejected, not just from ringside, but from the arena completely by senior official Nick Patrick after trying to get involved. In the kerfuffle that ensues from the ejection, Dangerously protesting vehemently on the outside, Bagwell takes Eaton down with one of his gorgeous suplexes and gets the three count while Dangerously wails in frustration outside. WINNER: MARCUS ALEXANDER BAGWELL Dangerously protests his ejection while the crowd sings "Nah Nah Nah (Hey Hey, Goodbye)" to the red-faced heel. Bagwell grabs him by the collar and hauls him out as the announcers hoot & holler in delight <hr> WCW TELEVISION TITLE MATCH "STUNNING" STEVE AUSTIN © w/ MADUSA MICELI VERSUS BRAD ARMSTRONG Brad Armstrong looks great against Steve Austin, but ultimately falls victim to a Stun Gun to lose the match. WINNER, AND STILL WCW TELEVISION CHAMPION: STEVE AUSTIN <hr> CACTUS JACK VERSUS ABDULLAH THE BUTCHER The announcers put over the recent issue of WCW Magazine where Cactus Jack sat down with Jim Ross for an interview to talk about his seemingly insane methods. Jack mentioned in the interview that he had a lot of respect for Abdullah the Butcher, but that he didn’t see the two of them coexisting in WCW for much longer without an “eruption of violence.” His words proved true here as Abdullah never even made it into the ring as Jack jumped off the apron onto him as he made his entrance, and the two brawled all over the ringside area. Referee Randy Anderson never managed to get control, and was left no choice but to count both men out as the brawl raged on the outside. WINNER: DOUBLE COUNT OUT Cameras follow the pair backstage, where the fight continues and adds some plunder to the mix with trash cans and steel chairs. Abdullah even finds his kendo stick at one point, and chases Jack off to end the melee and send the show to commercial. <hr> Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat is backstage with Shane Douglas for an interview with Missy Hyatt. Steamboat says he’s proud to hold the WCW United States Championship and that he will defend it with honor that was missing in the previous champion. Douglas says it feels good to be back in WCW, and says he’s looking to the main event and gold belts; he says he wants to be “the franchise player” for World Championship Wrestling. Together, they’ve had some issues with The Dangerous Alliance and tonight they look to settle them in the ring. ”RAVISHING” RICK RUDE & “MR. WONDERFUL” PAUL ORNDORFF VERSUS RICKY “THE DRAGON” STEAMBOAT & SHANE DOUGLAS Steamboat & Douglas work well together, and the announcers talk about how they have advantage without Paul E. Dangerously at ringside for his clients. Douglas really gets some time to shine during the match, but in the end the babyfaces cannot fend off the dastardly heels– Douglas falls to the Rude Awakening in a clean finish. WINNERS: RICK RUDE & PAUL ORNDORFF Paul E. Dangerously comes running down to the ring as Rude & Orndorff dispatch of Steamboat & Douglas. He gets on the microphone and starts raving about injustice in World Championship Wrestling, swearing that the company has a vendetta against him and his clients. He is no longer protesting the WCW Board of Directors, he is actively campaigning against them; should they continue to meddle in Dangerous Alliance affairs, there will be nothing left of the company to profit from when Dangerously is finished. <hr> The Young Pistols are out with the WCW United States Tag Team titles, Steve Armstrong on crutches with his knee bandaged. They say they have no choice but vacate their titles due to injury, but they want everyone to make no mistake: they will be coming for those titles when he’s all healed up. <hr> WCW UNITED STATES TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH THE STEINER BROTHERS (RICK & SCOTT STEINER) VERSUS BARRY WINDHAM & “THE NATURAL” DUSTIN RHODES The crowd is split pretty evenly for this babyface versus babyface match-up, the match kicking off with a respectful handshake between the teams. Both teams are looking to reclaim gold here, and they both give it their all. The announcers wonder who attacked The Steiners last week, and when they might strike again. In the end, Rhodes falls victim to a Steinerizer and the brothers from Michigan pick up the WCW United States Tag Team Championships. WINNERS, AND NEW WCW UNITED STATES TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: THE STEINER BROTHERS <hr> WCW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH “THE TOTAL PACKAGE” LEX LUGER © VERSUS STING Sting won Battle Bowl to become the number one contender to the World title, but Lex Luger has been out of action and unable to defend until now. This match was originally scheduled for Superbrawl II, but Luger risked forfeiting the championship if it wasn’t defended before the show. Luger is also without his manager, Harley Race, for the match as Race has moved on to manage the monstrous trio of Big Van Vader, Bam Bam Bigelow, and Mr. Hughes. Luger tries to use his strength to overpower Sting, but The Stinger won’t be outdone. Just when it looks like Luger has Sting down and out, he mounts a superhuman comeback that climaxes in a Stinger Splash and the Scorpion Deathlock for the win and the title! WINNERS, AND NEW WCW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION: STING Almost before the bell to signal the end of the match has even rung, Harley Race is ringside commanding his hydra into the ring. Luger rolls out and leaves as the trio dismantle Sting while the bell rings and the announcers give the brutality the hard sell. The segment ends with them draping the World title, face down, over Sting’s ribs and Vader giving him a Vader Bomb while JR screams that Sting may have broken ribs. </div>

falling_star
WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING WEEK TWO - FEBRUARY 1992 FROM SAM’S TOWN LAS VEGAS ANNOUNCE TEAM: JIM ROSS, TONY SCHIAVONE, AND DUSTY RHODES An injured Sting joins us backstage with Tony Schiavone to cut a promo on Big Van Vader and the rest of Harley Race's faction. The Stinger says he may be down, but he's not out and at Superbrawl II, Vader is going to find out just how dangerous it is to back a scorpion into a corner because he's about to strike with a vengeance! JUSHIN THUNDER LIGER VERSUS TRACY SMOTHERS Another fine showcase for international superstar Jushin Thunder Liger, this time against former United States Tag Team Champion Tracy Smothers. Smothers is, of course, in singles action thanks to his partner Steve Armstrong being out with an injury. Liger picks up the victory with a Liger Bomb. WINNER: JUSHIN THUNDER LIGER "BEAUTIFUL" BOBBY EATON w/ PAUL E. DANGEROUSLY VERSUS "HEAVY METAL" VAN HAMMER The nearly undefeated Van Hammer looks good against one of the charter members of The Dangerous Alliance here, Eaton and Dangerously using all the underhanded tactics at their disposal but, as they say, cheaters never prosper. Hammer picks up the win. WINNER: VAN HAMMER Following the bell, Dangerously and Eaton attack as Hammer is taken out from behind with a cell phone to the head and Eaton starts laying in the boots. The beatdown continues for a moment before Tony Schiavone stands up from the announce desk with a microphone and calls for everyone's attention. Schiavone tells Dangerously that the WCW Board of Directors have heard his protests these last several weeks, and they've also seen all he's done at ringside and behind the scenes lately as well. The Board of Directors has seen fit to appoint a commissioner to ensure justice and integrity is upheld in World Championship Wrestling... and he'll be arriving at Superbrawl II tomorrow night! Dangerously and Eaton throw a fit over this news, ranting and raving in the ring while Dangerously calls the announcement a travesty. CACTUS JACK VERSUS BIG JOSH Cactus Jack raves to himself all the way to the ring and throughout the match, talking nonsense and making psychotic noises while Jim Ross wonders where the calculated madman he spoke to recently might be in this match. Jack makes short work of Big Josh to pick up the wing. WINNER: CACTUS JACK As Jack is headed back down the entrance aisle, Abdullah the Butcher hurries into the arena and smacks him with a kendo stick! The two begin to brawl once again, as they have many times in the recent past, fighting into the backstage area while Dusty Rhodes says this is exactly the kind of behavior that's made the Board of Directors appoint a commissioner while the announce team wonders who will show up at Superbrawl. WCW TELEVISION TITLE MATCH "STUNNING" STEVE AUSTIN © w/ MADUSA MICELI VERSUS FLYIN' BRIAN PILLMAN Austin and Pillman work a clunky match that eventually leads to interference from Scotty Flamingo against Pillman while Madusa and Austin distract the ref. WINNER, AND STILL CHAMPION: STEVE AUSTIN Backstage, Paul E. Dangerously is with Missy Hyatt and "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff. Dangerously says that now, more than ever, it's important for The Dangerous Alliance to flex their muscle and show their power. As has been the case since it's inception, only the best of the best are accepted, which brings him to Orndorff. Everyone knows who Mr. Wonderful is, everyone knows the success he has had all over the country, but as a member of The Dangerous Alliance, Orndorff can expect to hear his name mentioned among the greats. But, and there's always a but, first he must prove himself by beating Shane Douglas and chasing him right back out of WCW at Superbrawl II. Orndorff agrees, and says it will be a privilege to dispose of the blonde babyface. WCW United States Champion Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat is out in front of the crowd for a promo next, but before he can speak he's blindsided by "Ravishing" Rick Rude! The announce team, again, talk about the chaos running rampant in WCW and the need for commissioner to take control Dusty Rhodes wonders who could take control of this, and Jim Ross tells him to, "get in there and handle it, Dream!" Rhodes laughs him off, though, as "The Natural" Dustin Rhodes and Barry Windham appear to chase off Rude and check on Steamboat. A quick video recap is shown of The Samoan SWAT Team unmasking on Main Event after yet another attack on WCW United States Tag Team Champions The Steiner Brothers. The announce team put over how devastating the duo can be, and wonder if they are the next US Tag Team Champions with their sights set on The Steiners. THE SAMOAN SWAT TEAM (SAMU & FATU) VERSUS THE FABULOUS FREEBIRDS (MICHAEL P.S. HAYES & JIMMY "JAM" GARVIN) The Samoan SWAT Team make short work of the fan favorites here, practically squashing the Freebirds if not for some limited offense from Michael P.S. Hayes. A Double Diving Headbutt picks up the win and the title shot for the SWAT Team. WINNERS: THE SAMOAN SWAT TEAM Another attack takes place, this time Diamond Dallas Page leads The Diamond Exchange out to mount an attack on the already down-and-out Freebirds. The announce team call it the most cowardly attack they've seen tonight, but Jim Ross says it is still further proof of the need for a commissioner. Vinnie Vegas and The Diamond Studd add insult to injury on The Freebirds, putting the boots to them and stealing their leather jackets. Chaos continues to reign supreme on World Championship Wrestling, this time in a backstage brawl between Ron Simmons and Bam Bam Bigelow! The pair brawl past the interview area, scaring Missy Hyatt, and actually going through part of the interview set at one point! "Just who in the world is gonna put a stop to this?!" JR raves. Harley Race comes out next with a wide smile on his face, proclaiming the his Hydra will soon be wearing gold and saying that Sting's time is up. Unlike some people in World Championship Wrestling, hinting at The Dangerous Alliance, his Hydra doesn't need his influence at ringside but it's their careers that need his guidance. BIG VAN VADER w/ HARLEY RACE VERSUS BARRY WINDHAM Barry Windham looks better than most against the monster, mounting several comeback hope spots during an extended beating. Vader picks up the win a Vader Bomb to go on to Superbrawl against Sting. WINNER: VADER

falling_star
SUPERBRAWL II SUNDAY - WEEK TWO - FEBRUARY 1992 FROM A 41,000 SEAT SOLD OUT ARENA IN MID-SOUTH USA ANNOUNCE TEAM: JIM ROSS, TONY SCHIAVONE, AND DUSTY RHODES JUSHIN THUNDER LIGER VERSUS ULTIMO DRAGON The announcers put over the international flair of the Light Heavyweight division, and say that matches like this are going to become commonplace in World Championship Wrestling. Liger and Dragon put on a good showcase to back up what the announcers are saying with an opening sprint the likes of which have rarely been seen in WCW. Dragon gets in some good offense as these two work an open match with Liger eventually picking up the win with a Liger Bomb. WINNER: JUSHIN THUNDER LIGER A brief video is shown, recapping the issues between "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff and Shane Douglas. Both men recently turned up in World Championship Wrestling and while Orndorff has had some trouble finding momentum, Douglas has been picking up victories with Magnum TA's Belly-to-Belly Suplex finisher. Tonight's match comes on the heels of Paul E. Dangerously offering Mr. Wonderful a spot in The Dangerous Alliance if he bests Douglas. "MR. WONDERFUL" PAUL ORNDORFF VERSUS SHANE DOUGLAS Orndorff seemingly pulls out all the stops in his attempt to get the victory and secure his spot in The Dangerous Alliance. Douglas has babyface fire and a never-say-die attitude, however, and he just won't stay down while the announce team liken him to "his idol" Magnum TA. The finish sees Orndorff fall to the Belly-to-Belly Suplex, losing the match and his hope for a spot in Paul E's Alliance. WINNER: SHANE DOUGLAS WCW LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH FLYIN' BRIAN PILLMAN © VERSUS SCOTTY FLAMINGO Pillman and Flamingo have had their issues pretty much since Flamingo showed up on the scene, including Flamingo costing Pillman the WCW Television Championship recently in a match against "Stunning" Steve Austin. The announcers continue to put over the Light Heavyweight division here, calling Pillman the best American in the division, and indeed the best wrestler overall given his holding the Championship. Flamingo gives it his all, including trying to pull the tights at one point, but Pillman pulls off the win with an Air Pillman. WINNER, AND STILL CHAMPION: BRIAN PILLMAN Alexandra York is out to talk about her client, Terrence Taylor, and his match with Brad Armstrong. The Armstrongs have proven resistant to acquisition, so it's time for The York Foundation to move into hostile takeover mode. One way or another, the Armstrong legacy will become another asset in The York Foundation's portfolio. TERRENCE TAYLOR w/ ALEXANDRA YORK VERSUS BRAD ARMSTRONG Brad and the rest of the Armstrong clan are about 50/50 when it comes to matches with The York Foundation heading into this singles encounter. Taylor controls most of the match while Brad shines in his sell job; the finish sees York brain Armstrong with her laptop while Taylor distracts the referee. It's all elementary from there, and Taylor picks up a key win in the ongoing feud between The York Foundation and The Armstrongs. WINNER: TERRENCE TAYLOR THE FABULOUS FREEBIRDS (MICHAEL P.S. HAYES & JIMMY "JAM" GARVIN) VERSUS THE DIAMOND EXCHANGE (THE DIAMOND STUDD & VINNIE VEGAS) w/ DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE The Diamond Exchange enter the arena in the leather Freebirds jackets they stole from the Hayes & Garvin after an attack on World Championship Wrestling. The crowd is solidly behind The Freebirds here, but they are unable to overcome interference by Diamond Dallas Page that leads to Vegas hitting the Snake Eyes on Garvin for the win. WINNERS: THE DIAMOND EXCHANGE Cactus Jack is backstage with a very nervous looking Missy Hyatt; Cactus tells her not to be afraid because he only has eyes for Abdullah, and those eyes are staring daggers at The Madman from Sudan. Tonight, there will be a carnival of violence the likes of which World Championship Wrestling has never seen and when it's all said and done there will be one man left standing in line for the rollercoaster with the big drop: Cactus Jack. FALLS COUNT ANYWHERE CACTUS JACK VERSUS ABDULLAH THE BUTCHER Billed as Falls Count Anywhere, these two never made it into the ring as they brawled around the arena and even outside of it. The crowd didn't quite know what to make of the wild brawl, especially when the match went into the women's restroom at one point and scared ladies came screaming out of the loo. The end of the match finally took place back in the arena, Jack putting Abdullah through a table with an elbow drop from the entrance stage to the floor to get the pinfall. WINNER: CACTUS JACK Paul E. Dangerously comes out with Madusa Miceli, the weasley manager is all smiles tonight because his sources have confirmed that there is no commissioner here tonight on behalf of the Board of Directors. This is because the Board of Directors is all bark and no bite, and they've proven that here tonight with this laughable display of non-authority. The Dangerous Alliance, and especially Dangerously himself, do not fear the Board of Directors or their non-existent authority figure. With that, Paul E. declares that "Dangerous Era" has officially begun. He predicts a clean sweep for The Dangerous Alliance tonight, starting next with fastest rising star in all of professional wrestling: the WCW World Television Champion, "Stunning" Steve Austin! WCW TELEVISION TITLE MATCH "STUNNING" STEVE AUSTIN © w/ MADUSA MICELI VERSUS MARCUS ALEXANDER BAGWELL Bagwell looks good in the beginning, showcasing his abilities right up until Madusa trips him on the outside. From there, Austin and Miceli are able to head off any comeback Bagwell tries to mount with underhanded tactics, eventually finishing him off with a Stun Gun. WINNER, AND STILL CHAMPION: STEVE AUSTIN Dangerously is back out to celebrate with his client, even stomping Bagwell out of the ring himself with a wicked smile on his face the whole time. As the trio celebrate, Dusty Rhodes stands up from his place at the announce table... The American Dream says he has sat by at ringside for long enough now, watching The Dangerous Alliance cheat their way to the top. He says the Board of Directors do not make hollow promises, because there is a new commissioner in WCW and he's here tonight, daddy! The crowd goes nuts as Dream fakes coming to the ring, but he stops short and introduces the new WCW Commissioner... Nick Bockwinkel! Bockwinkel heads to the ring and goes toe-to-toe with Dangerously almost immediately. He says that, just like Dusty Rhodes, the Board of Directors has had enough and, what's more, Nick Bockwinkel has had enough. He's not going to bar Dangerously from ringside because he has a legitimate managerial license (which Dangerously taunts him about) but he does have an ultimatum: if Dangerously OR Madusa influences the outcome of any match in any way for the rest of the night, that license will become void! Dangerously screams that Bockwinkel can't do that, but Bockwinkel assures him that he can, and he will if it comes down to it before walking away. Paul E. continues to rant and rave that this is a travesty, that WCW is treating him unfairly, and that Bockwinkel will rue the day he crossed The Dangerous Alliance. We're taken backstage where a frantic Missy Hyatt is hustling away from an ongoing attack! Samu and Fatu, The Samoan SWAT Team, arte decimating The Steiner Brothers with chairs while Fatu screams, "ain't gone be no title match!" The announcers question what is going on, but the SWAT Team just lay waste to the Steiners before walking away with the WCW US Tag Team titles as Schiavone crows that they didn't win them! WCW WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH THE ENFORCERS © (ARN ANDERSON & LARRY ZBYSZKO) w/ PAUL E. DANGEROUSLY VERSUS BARRY WINDHAM & "THE NATURAL" DUSTIN RHODES The story of this match was Dangerously on the outside, helpless to interfere on behalf of his clients. The babyfaces looked good, working well as a team and beating the heels at their own isolation game for much of the match. Even without Dangerously's help, that doesn't stop the Enforcers from using illegal double team moves or stop one from distracting the referee while the other cheats or chokes their opponent. In the end, the Enforcers look to re-injure Windham's hand by slamming it between the ring steps and isolate Rhodes inside the ring. It's elementary from there, the heels picking up the win and The Dangerous Alliance moving one match closer to making it through the night. WINNERS, AND STILL CHAMPIONS: THE ENFORCERS Harley Race is backstage with Missy Hyatt for an interview. He says that, unlike some managers, his clients don't need him to play a part in the outcome of their matches from ringside-- he plays a part in the outcome before the bell rings by feeding and training his hydra to make them big, bad, and dangerous! Tonight, Ron Simmons and Sting will learn valuable lessons about violence at the hands of Bam Bam Bigelow and Big Van Vader. BAM BAM BIGELOW w/ HARLEY RACE VERSUS RON SIMMONS The Beast From The East takes the fight to Ron Simmons from the start, the two having a heavy hitting match from start-to-finish. Bigelow looks to have it won and goes up top for a Diving Headbutt, but Simmons moves and takes control of the match. From there, it's only a couple of minutes until Simmons hefts up Bam Bam and nails a Running Powerslam for the win. WINNER: RON SIMMONS WCW UNITED STATES TITLE MATCH RICKY "THE DRAGON" STEAMBOAT © VERSUS "RAVISHING" RICK RUDE w/ PAUL E. DANGEROUSLY The Dragon is making his first title defense here after beating Rude for the belt on World Championship Wrestling not long ago. With Dangerously neutered on the outside by new commissioner Nick Bockwinkel, these two work one helluva match together. In what many will end up calling match of the night, Steamboat and Rude turn up the drama including some teases that Dangerously will get involved but he never does. Steamboat looks to finish with Flying Body Press, but Rude rolls through and goes for a cover that ends in a two count. After several false finishes, Rude nails a Rude Awakening to regain the belt. WINNER, AND NEW CHAMPION: RICK RUDE A brief video is shown recapping Big Van Vader's brutal rise, and Sting's hard fought victory over Lex Luger to become WCW World Heavyweight Champion. After Big, Bad, and Dangerous' attack following Sting's victory, it all culminates here tonight at Superbrawl II! WCW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH STING © VERSUS BIG VAN VADER w/ HARLEY RACE Sting's ribs are taped following the attack where he was Vader Bombed with the championship belt draped over his midsection. Sting looks good for the first few minutes, becoming the first wrestler to take Vader off his feet in this match but his injured ribs won't let him pick him up for a slam. What ensues here is a glorified squash, Vader absolutely decimating Sting en route to a championship victory. Sting looks to mount a comeback, getting the fans on their feet many times, but Vader is just too much for The Stinger to overcome. WINNER, AND NEW CHAMPION: BIG VAN VADER

Looks like just about everyone knew Bockwinkle was coming in, but I love that James picked Jesse Ventura as this is around the time he showed up in WCW for real and I thought about bringing him in but Bockwinkle just made more sense for a number of reasons. Jaysin
I'm really interested to see what kind of grades the main and semi main got. Sting and Vader always had bangers in real life and Rude and Steamboat had some great stuff too. The roster WCW had in the early 90s is really underrated in the grand scheme of things IMO
