USAce left LAP after his contract wasn't extended. USAce has been part of the tag team Star Spangled Scramble alongside Kip Keenan. It is believed that the company was not high on this tag team and they had no other further plans for USAce either.

LAP SIGNS NEW BROADCASTING DEAL WITH SWITCH STREAM

 

Estallido II was the first event streamed by Switch Stream. The deals with streamit english and streamit español were not extended and Switch Stream will replace them. Despite the very limited popularity of this new platform, this will be the first time that LAP will be aired in places like Japan or India and also all of Europe will be able to watch LAP events for the first time.

Alfonso Garcia: And we have a fabulous card tonight. LAP People's champion Sunburst defends the title vs Campeón Jr. Jagged & Frederique take on Segunda Generación, in a match where Segunda Generación needs a win or they'll have to break up. Amazing Fire Fly vs Scarlet Scarab. New LAP Lucha champion Samael The Executioner makes his first defence against El Toro De Oro Jr. And in the Main Event, two of the biggest stars in LAP will collide, Axxis Jr vs Chess Maniac!

Alfonso Garcia: And in our first match of the night, Magnifico vs Hijo Del Relampago!

 

Mac Smith: Axxis Jr defeated Hijo Del Relampago at Estallido II in a Career Threatening Match. Don't forget that Relampago had previously defeated Eléctrico in his last match in LAP and also defeated Ultimate Phoenix in a Career Threatening Match, which meant that Phoenix had to leave LAP. Magnifico is the last one of the "Four Mexican Babyface Legends" group of friends, the only one that Relampago hasn't faced yet.

 

MAGNIFICO vs HIJO DEL RELAMPAGO

Great match to start the show and to work the crowd. It was a short match with a TV format flavor. Magnifico got some offense to kick off the match to correspond the enthusiastic Mexican crowd, but then Relampago took over, first with his impressive defensive mindset and then with his precise attacks. Hijo Del Relampago hit Magnifico with the Relampago Blanco to win the match.

Cueball Lynch: Very impressive victory for Hijo Del Relampago, he didn't even need to use the ReKO against a legend like Magnifico.

 

 

Alfonso Garcia: In the next match, LAP People's champion Sunburst makes his seventh defence against Campeón Jr.

 

Cueball Lynch: Campeón Jr participated in the Gran Batalla De América II battle royal match, where he was the eighth elimination and he got to eliminate El Orgulloso, in a good participation overall. Campeón Jr is a Lucha legend and a big threat to Sunburst's reign.

They tried to steal the show with this short match which had a very TV format again, but it was completely disappointing. Sunburst hit Campeón Jr with the Sun-Spot in an anticlimatic ending.

This was a frenetic car crash. Mustang and Frederique open the match with the Mexican dominating an incredulous Frederique that had to be saved by his partner when Mustang hit him with the Acceleration. Jagged and Neutron got tagged in and they were very even until Grace Harper spat on Neutron, a distraction that Jagged used to hit him with the Jagged Edge. 1, 2, 3!!! Segunda Generación is now history as a tag team and the crowd boos Grace and her clients.

Mac Smith: Oh no, that was horrible to see. A historic tag team like Segunda Generación has to break up after a finish like this, they don't deserve this.

 

 

Alfonso Garcia: In the next match, Amazing Fire Fly vs Scarlet Scarab.

 

Mac Smith: These two have only met one time and it was last year in a This Is Lucha episode. Scarlet Scarab won that match. Scarlet Scarab is 1-7-0 in singles competition in 2021 in LAP. Amazing Fire Fly is 1-1-0 in 1vs1 matches in 2021 for an overall record of 4-4-0.

 

AMAZING FIRE FLY vs SCARLET SCARAB

Match Of The Night. A match full of dangerous aerial moves where these highflyers probed their mastery in this type of matches. Scarlet Scarab hit Amazing Fire Fly with a tope con hilo and then with the O'Hararana before pinning him, but he kicked out at 2. Later Amazing Fire Fly hit Scarlet Scarab with a 720º splash, that was clearly the spot of the night and then a running senton, but Scarlet Scarab kicked out at 2. Every move was precise, even those that had a high degree of difficulty, in this fantastic short match that ended when Amazing Fire Fly hit Scarlet Scarab with the Sky High Fire Fly.

Mac Smith: Electric Dreamer lost the LAP Women's title at Estallido II and tonight faces Queen Amazon, who has been feuding with Dreamer and Teresa Perez over the past weeks.

 

ELECTRIC DREAMER vs QUEEN AMAZON

The girls stole the show in just 5 minutes. Queen Amazon dominated most of the time after hitting Dreamer with a running powerslam, but Dreamer had other plans and the former Women's champion hit Queen Amazon with the Electric Chair before pinning her, but she kicked out at 2. Dreamer reacted quickly and surprised Queen Amazon with a roll-up. 1, 2, 3! Queen Amazon looks very frustrated by how the match finished.

Alfonso Garcia: Now it's time for the last title match of the night, LAP Lucha champion Samael The Executioner makes his first defence vs El Toro De Oro Jr.

 

Mac Smith: Samael won the LAP Lucha title after defeating Remmy Skye at Estallido II to end a 550+ days reign and an unprecedented unbeaten record in singles matches in LAP.

 

Cueball Lynch: El Toro De Oro Jr was the runner-up in the Gran Batalla De América II battle royal match, where Samael received the title shot that led to him becoming the champion. El Toro with his fantastic performance in that match demonstrated he is a real threat and I have to admit that I'd be happy if he dethrones Samael in this match.

This was again a match that had a TV show flavor. Golden Bull had a strong start and then they exchanged blows until it became a wild brawl. Samael laughed at El Toro at some point and he reacted with more physicality in a match full of impact moves. Raven Nightfall made a signal and Samael The Executioner hit El Toro De Oro Jr with The Execution to win the match.

aThis was the only long match of the night and it was all about storyteling. Axxis plays the Lucha legend and a national hero in his homeland Mexico, while Chess Maniac is the Machiavellian mastermind. Chess Maniac slows down Axxis' momentum, specially using arm drags, and quiets the crowd with his unparalleled psychological domination until he finds a perfect moment to try to submit Axxis with the Checkmate. The crowd chants "Axxis, Axxis!" for more than a minute of struggle and finally Axxis gets rid of his opponent. Axxis changes the complexity of the match with a combination of clotheslines, kicks and aerial strikes. Axxis Jr hit Chess Maniac with the Gravity Axxisault... 1... 2... 3! The crowd goes crazy celebrating the babyface's victory.

I thought it was time for them to move on. They have been so important for the tag team division that it was a difficult decision to break the tag team without having won a title, but I think their opportunity window had disappeared. Grace and her guys have another reason to be hated.

Nobody picked this match to have the highest rating. In 2020 Amazing Fire Fly and Pantera Roja had the best match of the year in the Main Event of a This Is Lucha episode that had no build up. This Amazing Fire Fly vs Scarlet Scarab ties for second best match in LAP history with that one (74). In my experience you never know when Amazing Fire Fly is going to deliver one of his masterpieces, so never sleep on Amazing Fire Fly!

Pretty first solid defence IMO, the LAP Lucha title match was rated just one point lower than the Main Event (64). I didn't want to put the pressure of main eventing on Samael, I thought to fill Remmy's spot in the Lucha title matches is enough pressure for the moment and it worked well.

I'm talking a lot more than usual about ratings this time but the Main Event ended up with the 3rd best rating and it was interesting because everybody picked it to have the highest rating. I wasn't disappointed with the rating (65) though because Hijo Del Relampago did another miracle in the opening match vs Magnifico (67). By the way Axxis' status in Mexico is incredible, just the rating of his entrance (81) says it all.

WORLD EXCLUSIVE LAP owner Joaquin Soler revealed to WrestlingCommunity.com his plans to bring back their TV show This Is Lucha. The first episode will be broadcast on October 7th by WrestleWorld, La Red De La Lucha and Switch Stream. A few weeks ago Californian competitors CZCW had started Coast To Coast episodes on Mondays, the same day when This Is Lucha traditionally was aired and now the two shows will compete. On the first episode LAP People's champion Sunburst will defend the title against Chess Maniac in what was labelled as one of the most awaited rematches of the year in LAP. Tickets sold out for the first episode at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium in Santa Barbara.

 

· STEVE FREHLEY AND LEIGHT BURTON ARE SWF

Steve Frehley, one of the most popular wrestlers in the world, leaves USPW to join SWF. Frehley has signed a 2-year contract worth $215000 per month. It will be one of the most awaited returns to SWF ever after he controversially left the company where he started his career in the so called 'Black Wednesday Betrayal' in 2014. English star Leigh Burton will join SWF too after leaving 21CW for a 4-year deal worth $134000. Alfonso Garcia: In the opening match of this new era in This Is Lucha, Fire Attack takes on The Lords Of Extreme!

 

Mac Smith: Wow! The Lords Of Xtreme are back in California! They became a very popular tag team in the south west before they broke up. Snap Dragon has spent the last years in Mexico, while Masked Cougar is making his third appearance in LAP.

 

Cueball Lynch: You probably expected Masked Cougar on another show tonight, but he is here in This Is Lucha. And I've been told he is debuting a new mask tonight, changing his traditional orange one for a green one that will make The Lords Of Xtreme look more homogeneous.

 

FIRE ATTACK (AMAZING FIRE FLY & RAPIDO) vs THE LORDS OF XTREME (SNAP DRAGON & MASKED COUGAR)

 Good match were everybody got involved. The crowd quickly sided with Fire Attack and The Lords Of Extreme's attitude angered the crowd even more. Amazing Fire Fly hit Masked Cougar with the Sky High Fire Fly but Snap Dragon stopped the 3-count. Snap Dragon hit Rapido with the Dragon's Breath to win the match.

After the match, Amazing Fire Fly and Rapido talk about the future briefly before they decide to part ways and explore their opportunities in singles competition.

There will be 6 qualifying matches to earn a spot in the Escalera De Oro Ladder Match. These qualifying matches will start this Sunday at Amenaza II.

Suddenly Madonna's "American Life" plays and as soon as the crowd hears "Do I have to change my name?" Miss American Pie makes her entrance producing a big pop in the crowd.

The crowd supports Miss American Pie from the beginning in this short match were they stole the show. Purple Viper went for the Viper Bite but Miss American Pie reversed it. Then Miss American Pie hit Purple Viper with her finisher the July 4th Jam.

Alfonso Garcia: It's time for the Main Event, LAP People's champion Sunburst makes his eighth defence vs Chess Maniac!

 

Mac Smith: This is the rematch that everybody is waiting for in LAP. Sunburst surprised the world when he defeated Chess Maniac at Noche De Estrellas II.

 

Cueball Lynch: Chess Maniac is one of the most feared competitors in LAP. Chess Maniac is 12-2-0 in singles competition in 2021, while Sunburst is 9-1-0 this year. In the matches between these two they are 1-1. This is probably the most awaited LAP People's championship title match ever!

 

Main Event: LAP PEOPLE'S CHAMPIONSHIP

SUNBURST (c) vs CHESS MANIAC

This match was all about storytelling. The crowd supporting the babyface Sunburst, now a much more mature wrestler than the underdog that won the title, facing an ultimate villain like Chess Maniac. Sunburst put the crowd on its feet with a tope con hilo and then climbed to the top turnbuckle for the Sun-Spot, but he couldn't hit his opponent. Chess Maniac slowly dismantled Sunburst and started to show his aerial skills too landing on Sunburst with an apron somersault plancha. Later Sunburst made his comeback reversing an arm drag and then delivering the spot of the night, a fantastic springboard corkscrew crossbody. Sunburst tried to kick Chess Maniac, who trapped his opponent for the Checkmate. Sunburst tapped out and Chess Maniac raised his hand in victory.

Despite LAP People's title match was pretty bad - it happened though - the rest of the card has been really great! Amazing Fire Fly and Scarlet Scarab tore the house down with that rating! Axxis entrance was so cool lol, definitely a nice plus!

Tough one, but going for a feel good babyface win

 

I think to defeat Chess Maniac once was enough and also that it was a good moment for Chess Maniac to win a title, after being so close to win the Lucha title in the past. Chess Maniac has been terrific in 2021 and I wanted it to lead to something, he was probably my best option to dethrone Remmy in case Samael's ascension didn't work for any reason. Chess Maniac ends up with a midcard title with a lot of history, as it is from the acquisition of FCW, that is much more prestigious than usual for a company that is in its second year.

I had doubts about the rating because I relied heavily on signings in this first episode but they all had good debuts.

Miss American Pie has been hired by LAP on a 3-year exclusive contract worth $1200 per show.

 

"Her contract with USPW expired and it was an opportunity we could not pass up. Everybody knows her in this business and she is also a good worker. She will be a key asset in our women's division" said LAP owner Joaquin Soler.

The Lords Of Xtreme (Snap Dragon & Masked Cougar) have joined LAP. Snap Dragon signed a 6-month exclusive contract worth $700 per show. Masked Cougar signed a 2-year contract worth $90 per show.
