Your non-canon C’Verse “fight forever” rivalries

Recommended Posts

Curious about which workers are “forever” rivals in your C’Verse booking where workers are  intrinsically tied to one another like SCSA/McMahon, Zayn/Owens, Undertaker/Kane etc.

Canon-wise, I can think of Remo/Frehley, Rogue/Valiant and Strong/Chord. Curious about the ones you’ve come up on your own and why?

For me, Steven Parker and Spencer Spade end up career long rivals given one is a highly accomplished underachieving indy wrestler and the other is a homegrown SWF super prospect. Writes itself.

Cali Slick and Sayeed Ali are usually vehicles for an East Coast vs. West Coast hip-hop war storyline.

Hell’s Bouncer and Scythe are always fun to book in an Undertaker-Kane setting.

Magnum Kobe Vs Emerald Angel

True, canon, fight forever guys. If you play as WLW and grow, you can steal both of them back and resume the storyline. They form your typical puro archetypes - Ace Vs Rebel kid, High Flyer Vs Striker, goody two shoes Vs Flamboyant charisma guy, Defender of the promotion Vs Anarchy/Invader, Respect for Legends/Tradition Vs New Generation Wrestling, Chosen One Vs the People's champion.

Wolf/AAA

Wolf is the product of tutelage of the greatest wrestler TCW ever had, was handpicked by him and is the only wrestler to graduate from his school except Edward Cornell and Tommy Jr, Trained under a no, of legends and being part of the Syndicate, greatest stable in the history of CV.

AAA meanwhile rose up from the ground with proving himself at MAW, then gradually climbing up and slowly becoming a face of TCW.

A lot of classic storylines - talent Vs Hard work, nepotism Vs hard work, Heel Stable Vs underdog babyface, Chosen One Vs the People's champion, Too good for you Vs If you think you are that good, why are you afraid? or usual I was wrestling legends while you were tagging in dark matches.

Alex DeColt & Dan DaLay.. Maybe cheating, because they are canon best friends in 'real' life, but I always book them as eternal rivals who just plain hate each other. In my version of kayfabe, Alex used to be a nerdy kid and Dan was the bully who made his life a living hell in high school. Ten/Twenty/Thirty years later (depending on the mod) they're still at each other's throats. It's not the most nuanced or interesting rivalry. I can't think of many cool angles or even strong main events I've booked them in. It's just long-term hatred.

In my 2016 save that went 13 years, that would go to Blackwell Bush and Rob Edwards. Edwards made his debut in the end of 2016 as the hometown hero, and faced the resident frustrated midcarder Blackwell Bush, who cheated to give Edwards his first loss in his second MCW match. Edwards would win the next two, but Bush would find success first. Blackwell Bush would go on to win the MCW title at Glory Days 3 and growing increasingly paranoid throughout his title reign - he is able to put their series 2-2 in 2019, leading to a fifth match at Glory Day 4, a year after Bush won it. In the first ever MCW Ironman match, Blackwell Bush wins 3 falls to 2. After a relatively clean title reign, Bush cheats and bashes Edwards with the belt to take DQ but set him up for two consecutive falls as time expires to retain.

Bush would add the services of Sean Quartermainne, Later in 2019, an Aussie Rules rematch between the two would again end in controversy, as a debuting unidentified duo would interfere in the match to stop Edwards from winning and help Bush retain. Bush would protest that he has no idea who that duo is (I'm sure you can see where I was going with this) as the Aegis would debut as the first external threat in MCW. It would be revealed they were working with MCW owner and my user character Ace Jordan, and they would help Jordan win after the former pretended to turn face to fight off the invaders. Bush would turn face after this, and would mostly wrestle alongside Edwards for the tail end of his MCW career, winning the MCW title in an upset against Lothar Prellinger before passing the torch to James Diaz at Glory Days VIII, and becoming MCW's cornerstone tag team and multi-time tag champion with Leon Nameth.

Edwards would go on to be my cornerstone, being the man to topple Ace Jordan and hold the title a record 3 times and being my go-to babyface for the majority of the last 10 years.

Their first encounter in 2017 would score a 36 (D-). In the build to Glory Days XII, Edwards would win the MCW title and Blackwell Bush, primarily a tag wrestler, would get a shock win in the Road To Glory rumble, setting up a face vs face rematch once again, 10 years since Bush won his first title, 11 since their first meeting. I didn't have the highest expectation for the match, but they managed to pull an 89 (A) in the main event, from competing in front of 100 people to 22,000 10 years later.

It was fun to crack open my old Word doc from my 2016 TEW save, I forgot a lot of the details of their long rivalry so it was fun to reread it all.

I think the saddest part of the WLW fallout are the two aces splitting to different companies. Angel vs. Sensational Dragon is probably the closest substitute but like you said, that history and rivalry is missing—seems more like a traditional dream match.

I always saw Eddie Chandler as the face of the Elite but DaLay definitely felt like the most important member. The DeColts seem to use the rogue's gallery approach for the family of faces but DaLay always seemed in the mix no matter who else was a top heel so it makes sense to keep a personal long-term rivalry going with the arguably the most prominent DeColt.

Who would you pick out as the other DeColt's eternal rivals? I wish Zeus got more of a push because I can definitely see him as a natural foil to Steve, but it's probably Eddie Chandler and Gargantuan seems like a natural Hogan/Andre foil to Jack. Ricky seems like he would rival some of the other young guys he came up with like Rivera, Powell or Nelson?

I always view Logan Wolfsbaine and James Diaz as the cousins who go into a blood feud and then reunite every few years

One of my biggest challenges is booking both guys as more than successors to Raymond so a family feud seems like a great way to distinguish the two. Plus, plenty of meat!

Aaron Knight and Cameron Vessey are set up to lifetime rivals. Knight has a 5 year deal by default and Vessey usually gets a long deal. They are both in their prime, are fantastic in the ring and already positioned as rivals at the start.

It's probably the closest thing we have to a current Stone vs. DeColt rivalry that should've happened when the companies merged. I can even see a storyline where Knight's adopted DeColt lineage can come up to question for a "pure-blooded" second generation star in Vessey.

I've been seeing Blackwell get lots of love these past few weeks. Love to see these rivalries develop from midcard feuds

I recently played a CGC game starting in 1997 and going to 2008, so that's formed a lot of my perspective.

For Steve, you could argue John Maverick. Similar ages, starting in CGC. Maverick's a key figure in the original version of The Elite. He beat Steve for his title reign in 2005. Both ended up in NOTBPW. It's not something I booked, but a clever historian could make a convincing video package.

For Jack, an outside of the box pick, Eric Tyler. Eric ran the School of Tradition is 1997, and young wholesome technical Jack DeColt would be an ideal recruitment target. After Eric does DAVE and returns in 2007, Jack is grown up and World Champion. Eventually, Jack grows a fine mustache, teaches his own students at the DeColt Powerhouse. It rhymes.

For Ricky... Ryan Powell wishes it was him. I don't know. The timelines didn't match up as well as I expected there (Ricky comes along 2 years after Ryan) and I think Ricky's true legacy is with CWA. I've never played CWA for more than a couple of days. Edd Stone is the common fan fiction parallel.

I will say, I probably got the most interesting feuds out of the Alex DeColt/Eddie Chandler pairing in my games. From midcard comedy feuds where Chandler tried to outsmart the brainiest DeColt, to main event feuds where Chandler evolved into an actual criminal mastermind. A Holmes/Moriarty game of oneupsmanship. The transition from Elite V1.0 (Maverick/DaLay/Chandler, with Chandler as the clear No.3) to Elite V2.0 (Chandler/DaLay/Specialists/Deeley, with Chandler as the clear leader) was entirely an Alex story for me.

Stones vs DeColts sticks out in my mind... I know they're mostly retired now, but if I was booking CWA I'd probably bring Edd in, and have him with David, Johnny Bloodstone and Sean McFly... battling Jack and Ricky. Seems like a no brainer of a feud to put the two families against each other.

Jonathan Faust and Adam Matravers in 21CW...

Blake Belushi and Loxley Robbins in RAW...

Those guys will always hate/not trust each other in my saves.

I like to split tag teams and have them feud with each other too, so Buff Martinez and Jay B (J-B Cash) will always split and be rivals when I book 21CW.

Eddie Peak/Big Cat Brandon in DAVE has always been my eternal rivalry. Just guys who both hate each other, it doesn't matter who is face and who is heel, they just despise each other.

I always have Greg Gauge and Jay Chord be big rivals in TCW. Once Gauge is built to Major Star and Chord gets the belt, Chord v Gauge is a given.

I'm sad we didn't get this rivalry in MAW during the transition of power between their dads. Although Jay was way too good to be in a feeder company the moment he debuted

Matthew Keith and Koshiro Ino are two guys who, in time, seem positioned to have a great blood feud after NEO Prime splits.

(I might or might not have designed a whole mod around that potential feud)

Brooke Tyler and Lucy Stone-McFly seem destined to clash at the top of CWA for a long time.

Pink Spider and Pumpkin Jack seem positioned to start a great rivalry that will headline ZEN cards for years to come.

In TEW2016 TCW save, Brooke Tyler and Alicia Strong's contracts both expired around the time I was considering adding a women's division. Brooke was the heel winner on one side and Alicia was face winner of the other side. They had an epic match that scored way above their pop at the time. Now they're eternal enemies in my head canon.

For women, my favorite "fight-forever" rivalry would be Nadia Snow and Jessica Conroy.

Picking on this one, Mighty Mo and Jay Chord. Arrogant 2nd generation star vs explosive babyface? It writes itself

Nobuatsu Tatsuko vs. Yoshimi Mushashibo is basically my Kenta Kobashi vs. Mitsuharu Misawa in every Pride Glory save I play. Mito Miwa and Yoshimi Mushashibo is also another fight-forever rivalry for me, basically the two Misawa expys of TEW producing 5-star bangers.

Actually, these two rivalries might be canon in the game's universe but they're basically fun to book for me
