What's the overness diff between Jordynne Grace and Mariah May?

If Jordynne is more over...then Toni and Jordynne ride again! If they're the same or Mariah is more over, team Timeless is the way to go.

I don't know without going on the game, and I probably won't be doing that until I start doing the shows. So I'll partner whoever has biggest overall US overness between Grace and May with Storm.

DYNAMITE
Wednesday, week 1, May 2024
VSU Multi-Purpose Center, Petersburg, Virginia (5,100 capacity)
Announcers: Excalibur, Taz and Tony Schiavone

The Elite come to the ring. First of all Adam Page tells the Petersburg natives to shut the hell up... before The EVPs get the mic... Matthew says they have been too kind so far, they've not made the tough decisions that EVPs have to do... Nicholas continues by saying that stops now... they now will make the decisions that have to be made... that are right for business... that are right for All Elite... so next week on Dynamite we will have an 8 man tag team match... Matthew takes over saying that The Elite will find a partner...and he calls out Steve Austin and "his boys"... Austin, Kenny Omega, Eddie Kingston and Drew Galloway come to the ring... Matthew tells Austin and "his boys" to find themselves a partner for next week... Austin does a visual count and says we have four guys now, it's tough shit you have three... and they attack The Elite, Austin included getting some shots in... The Elite were obviously prepared those as within mere seconds what seems like an army of security is in the ring to get Austin and his men off The Elite... Page says just wait until next week. 71

ActionAndretti.jpg.93a8cad75acb217526a146b71c2042d1.jpg v Rush7.jpg.6f83de6d9b001b3cbd2b8650a55b8205.jpg
OWEN HART FOUNDATION MEN'S TOURNAMENT FIRST ROUND
Action Andretti v Rush (with Konnan)

A decent match though it looked early on there was only likely to be one winner and sure enough Rush had his arms raised. His win came in 9:28 by pinfall with a Rush Driver. 63
Rush far out performed Andretti 69-46

Alex Marvez is backstage with Alex Abrahantes, the new World Tag Team champions Lucha Brothers and the former champions Darby Allin and Sting. Marvez says the two teams are facing off at Double or Nothing in a rematch for the World Tad Team Championship and that Alex Abrahantes requested this time, so the floor is his... Abrahantes says the wants the rematch to be a straight up wrestling match... no gimmicks, no stunts, no nonsense... Sting offers his hand out, saying it's how it should be... Penta accepts Sting's handshake and all four men shake and look ahead to the anticipated rematch. 57

TNT CHAMPIONSHIP
COPE OPEN
'Rated R Superstar' Adam Copeland (champion) v Brandon Cutler

The fans don't look impressed when it is revealed that Brandon Cutler is the first man to take on the Cope Open for the TNT Championship though their disappointment doesn't last long as Copeland makes very short work of his opponent, winning in just 52 seconds by pinfall with a Spear. 59
Copeland far out performed Cutler 69-42, if they can be rated on such a short match!

It's Adam Cole bay bay! He doesn't look completely comfortable though as he surveys around ringside, and even looks under the ring a couple of times and around the announce desk... we can only assume he is checking there are no snakes hiding around ringside... he gets a mic and says it's been a long road back from injury but his journey has nearly ended... and in just a couple more weeks he will be cleared to finally return to the ring and get back to what he does best... wrestle... and lead the Undisputed. 67
Cole benefitted from a hot catchphrase.

MalakaiBlack12.jpg.544df9e71a97bbae1a3992c5c9b048d3.jpg v EddieKingston3.jpg.6ba247ad7e20c7a0f52446c7956b7384.jpg
AEW LEAGUE
The Spooky Club (Malakai Black (with Julia Hart) v The Bryan Danielson Appreciation Society (Eddie Kingston)

A really hard hitting match between kicks and fists and the crowd lapped it up. The two went back and forth with strikes and tossed in some decent mat wrestling to boot. It was hard to tell who was going to win, and it was Kingston who prevailed in 14:23 by pinfall with a BLKOUT Lariat. 65

Lexy Nair is backstage with her twice weekly AEW League Report. On tonight's show we have Team WooItsNathan... Kip Sabian says he is fed up... fed up of being losers, fed up of being last in the league... Anna Jay says she has Julia Hart on Friday night... and it's time to get a few more points on the board so it's slightly less embarrassing for their team.

AEW LEAGUE
Timeless Ensemble ('Timeless' Toni Storm (with Luther) & Jordynne Grace) v Black Lotus (Jamie Hayter (Women's World champion) & Kris Statlander)

Three power women in the match and the crafty Toni Storm, it made for an intriguing battle between four of AEW's best women. It was close, and perhaps the Women's World champion Hayter just about had more of the match than anyone else, though their wasn't much in it. Black Lotus won in the end in 13:18, though Statlander picked up the win in 13:18 by pin over Grace with a Big Bang Theory. 55
The young female demographic really liked Statlander winning.
Hayter and Statlander benefitted from public support.

Renee Paquette is backstage with the TNT champion Adam Copeland, Drew Galloway, Swerve Strickland and Jay White. Renee says she is here with these men to announce that they have been selected by AEW to enter the Casino Battle Royal at Double or Nothing... all four are happy to be in the match, though it quickly descends into bickering about who will be the winner. 71

WheelerYuta6.jpg.eb6061e926ced3da589f3fe00f2c1945.jpg v SamiZayn12.jpg.df35bb5a56b6f4ed1cfed0091254ee72.jpg
Wheeler Yuta (World Trios champion, with Claudio Castagnoli & Jon Moxley) v Sami Zayn (with Orange Cassidy & Kenny Omega)
Lots of combustable elements in and around the ring but when push came to shove, Zayn simply out wrestled Yuta. The win became a virtual formality and duly came in 11:04 by pinfall with a BrainBustaaaaahhhhh!!!!! 69
Zayn far out performed Yuta 78-50
Yuta was really off his game.
Zayn benefitted from public support.

Having fought in the league earlier, Women's World champion Jamie Hayter is now confronting the former champion Toni Storm backstage in a segment half in colour and half in black and white. Hayter reminds Storm who she is... she's the new champion and the top woman in AEW... she then asks Storm if she knows who she is... continuing by saying once Storm was one of the toughest and best women wrestlers in AEW... but now she's a sideshow, a wannabe Hollywood star of years gone by... Storm doesn't look happy at all, but Hayter glares at her, asking "Who are you?" 62

Fenix8.jpg.514b7473ae61eff917d43e92387b9fe5.jpg v MattCardona(3).jpg.96c24e8cdc0401b757578430760614da.jpg
AEW LEAGUE
The Golden Lion Club (Rey Fénix (World Tag Team champion, with Alex Abrahantes) v TV Network (Matt Cardona)

Fénix comfortably bested Cardona, with the former WWE star not able to keep up with Fénix's fast paced offence for much of the match. That said, the match turned out a little disappointing as Fénix grabbed the win in 11:50 by pinfall with a Meteora. 62
Fénix far out performed Cardona 68-39
Fénix and Cardona don't click at all.

We are in the parking lot and Steve Austin is loading his bags into his black pickup truck. Austin sees the camera man and tells him to come to him. Austin stares right down the camera and says that people have been asking what his role is in AEW and what agreement he has with EVP Kenny Omega... Austin says that The Elite are jackasses and he and Omega both hate them... so Omega has granted him the power to make decisions and deal with problems in AEW "however I see fit"... and that includes you Elite. 74

AEW LEAGUE
The Peak of Perfection (Drew Galloway & MJF) v Team Swerve (Samoa Joe & Santana (with Konnan)

A good match and one that went on for a while, mainly because Joe kept Team Swerve in the match for much of it. They didn't stay in it forever though and Peak of Perfection picked up another three points in 18:17 when Galloway pinned Santana with a Claymore Kick. 73 - match of the night

Ethan Page says they are the two greatest men on God’s green Earth… Scorpio Sky says they have style, they have the looks… and they will kick Naturally Limitless asses tonight. 55

Red Velvet v Marina Shafir
Originally Rosemary was supposed to be facing Shafir, but Red Velvet is a late replacement. The match was terrible, Shafir won in 6:47 by submission with an Armbar. 21
The bout dragged in the middle.

AR Fox is backstage and he lays out a challenge to Roderick Strong for the International Championship next week. Strong accepts, saying he will have no trouble defending his title. 45

OWEN HART FOUNDATION MEN’S TOURNAMENT FIRST ROUND
John Silver v Dax Harwood
A very good match, certainly one of the best on Rampage this year. Harwood took it, though Silver caused him problems. The win arrived in 9:22 by pinfall with a Leg Hook Saito Suplex. 69 – match of the night
Silver and Harwood have great chemistry.

Naturally Limitless are now with Renee Paquette. Renee asks them for their reaction to Men of the Year’s comments earlier… Dustin Rhodes says wrestling isn’t about who is the best looking or best dressed… Keith Lee does agree with Sky though saying it is about asses being kicked… except the Naturally Limitless will be the ones doing the ass kicking. 57

OWEN HART FOUNDATION WOMEN’S TOURNAMENT SECOND ROUND
‘The Native Beast’ Nyla Rose v ‘The Virtuosa’ Deonna Purrazzo

Rose tried to use her size advantage though enjoyed little success as Purrazzo out wrestled her larger opponent for much of the contest. This saw her progress to the Quarter Finals in 9:07 by submission with a Venus di Milo. 53
Purrazzo out performed Rose 61-45

In the women’s locker room, Mariah May throws out a challenge for a match next week against Dr Britt Baker D.M.D. 48
May benefitted from public support.
May is getting better at her gimmick.

At the end of the season, all managers will be asked if they want to continue for season 2. Those that do will then have the option to change their team name if they wish and also if they want to release any wrestlers currently on their team. There will be no lower or upper limit, so each manager can choose to release nobody or they can choose to release their whole squad if that is what they want to do. For anybody who does not wish to continue into season 2, then all their squad will automatically become free agents.

Any new teams who join the league will have a mini draft, though they will only be able to pick from AEW League free agents and anybody not signed with AEW, provided they are willing to join. They won't be able to touch anybody already in a team unless that team's manager is happy to let them go. There will be a minimum of 2 spaces in the league for new teams next season as Team WooItsNathan won't be continuing and the maximum number of league teams that is feasible is 10. Any more and it's too many matches for the weekly shows and would use up too many wrestlers.

Once that has happened, then the transfer/signing window will open and will operate similar to how it did mid season, probably with one or two tweaks, most notably you can't sign somebody and then release them again in the same window, unless they become unavailable for league action in the game.

I will also announce other rule changes for season 2 in due course, as well as a couple of rule change votes for you guys to decide.

Oh, I'll also add something about how I choose the winners of each match, not only in the AEW League but also other general matches in my AEW, unless the story I am following dictates the winner. When it comes to the AEW League, ongoing storylines have zero effect on choosing the winner.

I look at each wrestler/team's perception, look at their match/performance history, if they are a current champion, their experience and past championships and their overall skill level. I then give them a % chance of winning the match (in my opinion) with also a 1-10% range for a draw, depending who is wrestling. I then use a random number app on my phone to select me a number between 1 and 100 and that gives me the winner. Some examples from this past week or so (although I don't remember what random number was given now)...

Action Andretti (unimportant) v Rush (recognisable) in Owen Hart Foundation Tournament - Andretti 4% Rush 95% Draw 1% so Rush was assigned numbers 1-95, Andretti 96-99 and the draw 100 - Rush won
Toni Storm (well known) & Jordynne Grace (recognisable) v Jamie Hayter (well known, current Women's World champion) & Kris Statlander (recognisable) in AEW League - Storm & Grace 39%, Hayter & Statlander 60%, Draw 1% - so Hayter & Statlander were 1-60, Storm & Grace 61-99 and the draw 100 - Hayter & Statlander won
Kenny Omega (star) v MJF (major star) in AEW League - Omega 35%, MJF 55%, Draw 10% (due to the fact these two are both top class wrestlers, would most likely put on a great match and could comfortably go to a 20 minute time limit draw) - so MJF was 1-55, Omega 56-90 and the draw 91-100 - this one ended in a draw.

It's far from an exact science but I hope it shows I try not to have any bias towards or against any given league team, that it gives wrestlers and teams who are (perceived to be) better a bigger chance of winning while also bringing into play a random element.

WesBanco Arena, Wheeling, West Virginia (5,600 capacity)
Announcers: Nigel McGuinness, Taz and Tony Schiavone

Renee Paquette is in the ring. In front of her is a black cloth covered table and either side of that are two chairs. It comes as no surprise that she announces a contract signing will take place, it's between Bryan Danielson and Will Ospreay for their World Championship match at Double or Nothing... She first brings out Will Ospreay... then the World champion Bryan Danielson... both men get a great reception and they take to the seats... Bryan Danielson signs first, saying he is the best wrestler in the world and being the AEW World champion proves it... Ospreay then signs, saying that he has beaten Danielson before in an AEW ring, he will do it again, bruv... The two stand up and stare down each other across and over the table... Danielson holds up his World Championship belt... Ospreay slaps it and says it will be his. 71

Not a good match and it went the way of the former TBS champion as Hart won for The Spooky Club in 7:16 by submission with a Hartless. 39

Alex Marvez is backstage with Riho and the TBS champion Ruby Soho. Marvez says Riho has something to say... and she challenges Soho to a title match next week on Collision... Soho accepts, saying the title is hers and it will stay that way. 37

Dark Order v Top Flight & Action Andretti
A much better contest than the opener and it looked like Andretti was going to win for his trio when he had John Silver in trouble. However, with Evil Uno distracting referee Bryce Remsburg, Preston Vance ran in and attacked Silver from behind. This enabled Silver to take the win in 8:59 by pinfall with an Enzuigiri. 55
Dante Martin benefitted from a hot new move.

Swerve Strickland and Prince Nana are backstage. Nana rues their bad luck at The Big Gamble when Swerve Strickland left empty handed despite not being involved in the finish of the men's Big Gamble match... AEW LEAGUE
The Bryan Danielson Appreciation Society (Hikaru Shida & Serena Deeb) v Team Swerve (Mercedes Moné & Rosemary)

A decent match though the contrast in performance for Team Swerve was startling. Whenever Moné was in the ring for them, they looked the more likely winners, but when Rosemary was legal, they looked more likely losers. BDAS took the points in 9:46 when Deeb pinned Rosemary with a Spear. 61
Moné out performed everyone else (79, next best Shida 59)
Rosemary performed worse than everyone else (46, next best Deeb 56)
Deeb benefitted from being in amazing form.

Renee Paquette is in the backstage interview area with Kris Statlander, TBS champion Ruby Soho, Tessa Blanchard and Trinity. 'Timeless' Toni Storm & Mariah May (with Luther) v Jamie Hayter (Women's World champion) & Dr Britt Baker D.M.D. (with Rebel)
Another good match, though May does not have the quality on this showing that the other three women possess. This led to defeat in 12:12 when Hayter pinned May with a Falcon Arrow. 58
May performed worse than everyone else (43, next worst Baker 53)
Hayter and Baker have great chemistry.
May and Hayter benefitted from public support.
Baker is in extremely poor form.
May is improving at her gimmick.

We are backstage, with filming having wrapped up from Lexy Nair's AEW League Report from earlier and Orange Cassidy, Sami Zayn and Kenny Omega go off together to get a coffee, or other beverage that they choose. Copeland out performed Lethal 72-54
Adam Copeland is the first man to wrestle 10 singles matches and has won 9 of them.

Jay White is backstage with the Bang Bang Gang, which has seemingly taken over as the name of their four man group (as Juice Robinson is with them) from Bullet Club Gold. Jay says he is shooting for glory in the Casino Battle Royal, which he will win and then go on to win the World Championship. 68

The Golden Lion Club (Lucha Brothers (World Tag Team champions, with Alex Abrahantes)) v The Peak of Perfection (Drew Galloway & MJF)

An excellent match. And just when you think Fénix has been brillant and wonder how he can get better, he did. And yet despite looking the better team, the World Tag Team champions lost to a pair of, admittedly top draw, individuals. Will this give Galloway and MJF a title match? Will they even want one? The win came in 18:31 when MJF submitted Penta with a Salt of the Earth. 79 - match of the night
Penta 82, Fénix 91, MJF 79, Galloway 74

Show rating: 73
AEW increased popularity in 13 regions.
Attendance: 5,600 (sell out)
TV rating: 1.20 (901,737 viewers and 1,283,088 overall)

Collision was AEW's 5th best show of 2024.
Lucha Brothers v Drew Galloway & MJF was AEW's 5th best match of 2024.
Collision drew AEW's 4th highest crowd of 2024.
Collision drew AEW's 8th biggest TV rating of 2024.

You'd think TV Network would've got a few more points given their 97 matches.

Really shocked at beating Lucha Bros. I'd accepted that that match was probably going to be a loss given how good both of them have been (particularly Rey Fenix). Great result and helpful for staying top, but still a lot more points needed to get the win.

Seeing how well Fenix is doing makes me think about renaming The Golden Lion Club to The Golden Phoenix Club next season with Fenix being the centerpiece of the group.  I think Fenix has been the big surprise for my team considering he was my fifth pick and I only expected him to be a tag guy with Penta, boy was I wrong.

I really like Fénix in real life, the stuff he can do in the ring is amazing. Even so, I have been surprised at how well he is doing in this save. His performance and match ratings are consistantly among the top of AEW and his 91 he got on Collision is possibly the best anybody has had so far (though I don't keep record of that so I don't know).

I've just checked the top 20 matches and Fénix has featured in 8 of them. Only Danielson tops that with 9.

While The Bryan Danielson Appreciation Society has three quarters of Blackpool Combat Club in their team, The Golden Lion Club are the only ones to have a bonafide tag team on their squad and that surprises me, considering the likes of The Young Bucks/The EVPs, FTR and The Acclaimed don't even look like they've been considered by anybody.

WEEK 17 FIXTURES

DYNAMITE
TV Network v The Bryan Danielson Appreciation Society - men trios
The Golden Lion Club v Team WooItsNathan - women tag
Black Lotus v Team Swerve - women singles

COLLISION
Black Lotus v Team WooItsNathan - men tag
The Spooky Club v TV Network - men trios
Team Swerve v The Golden Lion Club - women tag
The Bryan Danielson Appreciation Society v The Peak of Perfection - women singles
Timeless Ensemble v The Peak of Perfection - men trios

The deadline for selections is 18:30 UK time 13:30 US East coast time on Saturday 6 July.

Timeless Ensemble v The Peak of Perfection men trios match should have been on Dynamite. However, each team already has one member in the Dynamite main event, a storyline match. To be fair and to give you both the chance to choose your trios, it has been moved to Collision. This is possible as Timeless Ensemble would have no match on this show and while The Peak of Perfection does have one, it is a womens match so will not affect the mens match.

UNAVAILABLE
Tay Melo (maternity leave)
Tenille Dashwood (maternity leave)

POSSIBLY UNAVAILABLE - Depends if working elsewhere
Emi Sakura (Collision only)
Nick Nemeth (Collision only)
