  1. <p>It's too bad that Hall has that injury. He could almost definitely be running the IC or Tag divisions right now if it wasn't for his matches getting constantly dinged. But he made a great showing against Bret and Ahmed on Raw, so good on him. On Nitro, I like the idea of Sullivan, Vader, and Bigelow, but one thing I thought during their segment was that their name is so horribly bad that it could only have come from Sullivan himself. I swear that their (admittedly very interesting) angle just came to a screeching halt as soon as fans have to try pronouncing their stable name. <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> Anyways, Ground Zero.</p><p> Ahmed Johnson - <em>Ahmed is going to get a semi-decent run, the only people I can think of who will be able to stop him are either Austin, Taker, or Kane.</em></p><p> Owen Hart - <em>Owen is just a better champion.</em></p><p> NAO - <em>The train isn't stopping here; or if it does, it'll only be for a short time.</em></p><p> Dude Love - <em>It just feels right for him to pick up the win on PPV, so he can Brian can have had their blowoff and move on. 4. Ahmed Johnson - The belt isn't swapping right away like this. Austin and Shamrock Kane Pillman/Goldust/NAO D'Lo Scott Hall - Bret finds himself screwed once again. DDP Eddie Guerrero - In the vein of realism, I'm really surprised that Eddie continues holding the belt. But as a fan of his, I'm loving this reign. In fact, Mr. McMahon calls last week’s shows at Madison Square Garden a complete failure. His son Shane joins them at the top of the aisle, and the commissioner of the WWF states that since Austin and Triple H lost last week, then those who won the bout will take them on at WWF Fully Loaded with the World championship on the line! The World Tag Team champions join Shane at the top of the ramp, with Chris Jericho quipping that it looks as though maybe they did the impossible and took one of the Power Trip out, given Triple H isn’t in the ring right now! Chris Benoit says that when the choice came to tap or snap, Triple H chose to tap out! Mr. McMahon is about to blow a vein in his forehead, but “Stone Cold” is quick to point out that he already defeated Chris Benoit recently, and as the champion that means he declines the challenge. But Shane says that “The Rabid Wolverine” will be too busy at Fully Loaded to face Austin, as he is going to take on Triple H in singles action; instead, Austin will defend the title against “Y2J” Chris Jericho!</p><p> </p><p> However, Mr. McMahon has a backup plan. Immediately after a commercial break, he called Michael Cole into the Power Trip’s office and said that Benoit and Jericho can laugh and joke about getting the better of Austin and Hunter all they want – tonight, they can yuk it up as they take on both the Dudley Boyz and the Hardy Boyz in a tables, ladders, and chairs match!</p><p> </p><p> That match takes place at the top of the hour, and what a match it was! Bodies were broken along with tables, ladders were leaped from, and chairs were bent in the name of retrieving the WWF World Tag Team championships. But in the end, despite some huge spills and chilling maneuvers taking out both Hardyz, Bubba Ray, and Benoit, Chris Jericho fought off D-Von at the top of the ladder to retain the titles!</p><p> </p><p> The night was still young, however, and the WWF Commissioner wasn’t finished. Shane told Jonathan Coachman that since his dad wanted to stack the deck by making big matches, he could do the same; when Triple H arrives in the arena, he can face off with The Big Show, and “Stone Cold” can defend the World title right here tonight against the WWF Intercontinental champion, Diamond Dallas Page!</p><p> </p><p> That all made for a huge double main event, and Triple H showed why he is “The Cerebral Assassin” as he used a great ground attack to fell The Big Show with the Pedigree in the first part of it. Haku distracted Show at one point of the match, but it played no factor in the ending. Some more action was happening backstage though, as we saw that Albert had laid out Diamond Dallas Page right before the main event! Trainers came to check on him through a commercial break, but he said he would fight no matter what!</p><p> </p><p> Then in the clash of champions, Dallas Page took everything that Austin could throw at him and just kept fighting back, showing that the people could spur on their champion to the ends of the Earth! But it was Triple H stepping in and hitting Page with a sledgehammer behind Earl Hebner’s back that led to the Stunner and victory for the Power Trip. They may have had a big setback last week, but it looks as though “Stone Cold” and “The Game” are right back on top as RAW is WAR went off the air!</p><p> </p><p> Elsewhere on the show: Edge had a special Washington related “5 Second Pose” where he said that Billy Gunn is only “The One” because no one wants to be around him; Edge then successfully defended his European title over Crash Holly by rolling him up and grabbing the ropes. “Lethal Weapon” Steve Blackman was all set to take on “The Man-Beast” Rhyno, but Rhyno challenged Blackman to take this match and turn it hardcore. Blackman may have regretted accepting, as “The Man-Beast” took all the weapon blasts that Blackman could hurl at him and Gored him for the victory. Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley called out Trish Stratus, telling her that Ivory would embarrass her at Fully Loaded; Trish came out to give a rebuttal, but she smelled the trap – when Ivory appeared out of the shadows, Stratus was able to repel her with a flurry of punches; Trish later said in an interview that she had seen all of Stephanie’s tricks, and wasn’t about to fall for all of them over again. The Brothers of Destruction were seen at WWF New York. Test defeated Dean Malenko with a big boot. William Regal claimed that despite people besmirching his good name by saying that he had been cheating in his past few matches, he instead claimed to have been simply working out a lot lately, and he has simply been introducing opponents to the power of the punch; Regal then utilized this so-called power against Val Venis, but footage clearly showed him using brass knuckles!</p><p> <em>Show Rating: B+</em><hr></details></p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43111" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="wDSynh8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/wDSynh8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> <hr><details><summary><strong>WWF SmackDown!</strong></summary></p><p> <iframe width="220" height="180" src="<a href="https://www.youtube.com/embed/1KVxGNbkfSk?rel=0&controls=0&showinfo=0" rel="external nofollow">https://www.youtube.com/embed/1KVxGNbkfSk?rel=0&controls=0&showinfo=0"</a> frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe></p><p> </p><p> WWF SmackDown! was held at the Tacoma Dome in Washington on the day after the fireworks, and Mr. McMahon had plenty of fireworks planned for a lot of the champions of the World Wrestling Federation! “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and Debra watched the show from backstage all night, but the World Tag Team, Intercontinental, European, and Hardcore titles were all on the line, tonight!</p><p> </p><p> The show opened with the Hardcore championship match as Rob Van Dam found interference from the Dudley Boyz useful in defeating Spike Dudley. Van Dam then gave an interview where he claimed Jeff Hardy would quit ducking “Mr. Monday Night” soon. It turned out that was because he found his way to the ring during Jeff Hardy’s match against Edge for the European championship, costing him the match before attacking him after the bell. Hardy was left lying in the ring after a huge Five Star Frog Splash.</p><p> </p><p> But the other two title matches had wildly different results, and results that we’re sure Mr. McMahon would be very pleased with, as Albert’s interference cost Diamond Dallas Page his Intercontinental championship, as William Regal picks up the gold! And then later in the evening, an already battered Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho after Raw’s TLC match saw Triple H use the sledgehammer on Benoit to gift-wrap the Tag titles for the Dudley Boyz! The Power Trip were seen backstage later celebrating how they took the gold back from Shane McMahon’s sign, DDP, and how they once again have the World and Intercontinental titles back under their care… but as the former champion who never got a rematch, Triple H isn’t participating very much in the celebrating.</p><p> </p><p> After the Island Tribe defeat Too Cool, The Big Show appears, and he goes after the two big men! The battle is vicious, and it takes a whole slew of officials to break this up. It looks like Show wasn’t very happy with the Tribe interfering in his business on Monday and intends to take it out on them!</p><p> </p><p> After costing DDP his title, Albert planned on doing more damage, but The Undertaker came out to make the save. After finally agreeing that he will team with Page at Fully Loaded to take on X-Factor, he finds himself challenged to a match in the main event against Justin Credible. In that match, Undertaker wins via disqualification when Albert comes in and hits the Baldo Bomb on him. Credible and Albert intend on taking him out completely, but Dallas Page returns the favor from earlier and makes the save.</p><p> </p><p> Elsewhere on the card: The Godfather offers Rhyno his pick of a slew of girls to forfeit the match, but Rhyno angrily declines, saying that the only thing that gets him hard is violence; Rhyno then defeats Godfather with the Gore. Billy Gunn was at WWF New York, where he talked about his match at Fully Loaded against Edge, saying that there wouldn’t be any RVD to help him. The Acolytes defeated The Radicalz. Test defeated Eddie Guerrero.</p><p> </p><p> <em>Show Rating: B+</em><hr></details></p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43111" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="ZvDPOGe.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ZvDPOGe.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> <hr><details><summary><strong>WWF Heat</strong></summary></p><p> <iframe width="220" height="180" src="<a href="https://www.youtube.com/embed/YgkWkveCaOk?rel=0&controls=0&showinfo=0" rel="external nofollow">https://www.youtube.com/embed/YgkWkveCaOk?rel=0&controls=0&showinfo=0"</a> frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe></p><p> </p><p> Spike Dudley and Molly Holly say that they’re getting tired of the Dudley Boyz picking on their little brother, saying that they’ll find a way to take them on at Fully Loaded. I can’t say that it’s been financially great, as this past month we still lost $812,000 (counting the five thousand I owed Shane) but we are still currently in the black with $2.5 million left in the bankroll. So hopefully that can last us until we start actually making money.</p><p> </p><p> With the year half over, Meltzer posted his best of the year so far awards. He listed Satoshi Kojima from New-Japan as his wrestler of the year, with Kojima’s team along with Hiroyoshi Tenzan as his tag team award winner. Manami Toyota, who toured with AJW and is currently working in FMW, wins the women’s award. Company of the year so far went to NOAH. The best match thus far was Yuji Nagata against Kensuke Sasaki from a NJPW World Pro Wrestling during June, while the best show was named as WWF Judgment Day. Apparently they said it just barely edged out WrestleMania this year. And finally, the awards for young wrestler, veteran wrestler, and indy wrestler went to Jeff Hardy, Scott Hall, and Marc Mero, respectively. Oddly, I haven’t heard back from Hall yet, even though I’ve left him a ton of messages. Kevin still says things are in the bag though, so hopefully that is still the case. As for Mero, if he keeps up the solid indy performances, maybe I should give him another shot?</p><p> </p><p> Something that will help us in that is the contracts that I allowed to run out at the end of June. Losing Sid is a $200,000 weight off our shoulders, but I also let Billy Silverman, Scott Armstrong, and both Harris Brothers walk as well. To make up for losing two referees, I brought Rudy Charles officially up to the main roster. Ron and Don were always on borrowed time, as despite them being twins, I could find practically any large, menacing men to play their roles – roles that Kronik are already doing better than they were doing anyways.</p><p> </p><p> I wasn’t the only one letting people walk away. The WWF let the contracts of Gangrel, Essa Rios, Chaz Warrington, K-Kwik, and Tori end, as well as their developmental contracts for Sly Scraper and the former Wolfie D, Slash. There are some names in there that I think would do well for me in WCW, but we shall see. Unfortunately for Gangrel, barely a few days after he was let go from the WWF, his divorce went through from Luna Vachon. That had to be two punches right to the gut.</p><p> </p><p> I read that Xtreme Pro Wrestling held their King of the Deathmatch tournament. New Jack won it, which just feels right, honestly. But I think moving WCW away from that type of hardcore wrestling is the best move, so someone like Jack, who I’m sure has his niche of fans, is better off in somewhere like XPW ever since ECW’s fall.</p><p> </p><p> As we noted at the start of Nitro, the 78 year old Mae Young passed away last week. Mae was a very long time veteran and had a big role in the WWF as a comedy act along with Moolah in the past few years.</p><p> </p><p> Nitro in mind, there was a huge problem during the show. I knew it was a risky move, but I felt that the only way to make sure that The Wall would play well was to give him something big and see how he went. It turned out finding out that he was facing Goldberg gave him such jitters that he got himself wasted on both drugs and painkillers before the match. I fined him for it, but since he did it while taking on one of the biggest stars in wrestling, after we had spent all that money on him sending him to rehab for months, I couldn’t just let it go at that. When my second note came up for what he was on during the match, I told him that this was so unacceptable that he was fired. He seemed to improve his behavior, but he definitely looked to have some tension when I offered him a handshake on his way out the door. I hope he can get his life together, as I had some big midcard level plans for him, but that’s another three thousand dollars that we aren’t paying to someone who is going to be out of his mind when in the ring.</p><p> </p><p> We merely reposition that money though, as immediately after the show both Jimmy Snuka Jr. and Kid Kash came to me asking for pay raises. Since they had raised their stock during the short time they’d been with us, I didn’t want to say no, but I also plan on using them regularly so I didn’t want them upset. So I gave them both 75% of what they were asking, which brings Snuka up to $3,878 a month and Kash to $3,222 a month. They had both been making about $1,500, so I suppose them having bigger roles should mean some bigger money, but I had been hoping to use that three grand in other ways. Especially when Ric Flair is going around telling people that he doesn’t think Snuka is worth keeping around due to what he perceives as poor ring psychology. That’s a big name to be against you, but at the same time I also had Scott Steiner trying to get in my ear that Yang isn’t charismatic and should be released so I can hire someone better. I suppose he would like me to add Leia to his entourage when I get rid of Yang?</p><p> </p><p> Looking over contracts says that Nitro only has three months left on Comcast and Dish Mexico. That may be for the best; hopefully we can get on a commercial network once that runs out and just get back onto a regular TV schedule.</p><p> </p><p> Next week we have both Steiners in the main event against a team of Sting, Ric Flair, or Dustin Rhodes. Mystery opponents should help the buyrate as we head into the Iron Man match at Bash at the Beach, which will take place on Sunday right afterwards. It should be a great weekend to be watching WCW! Let’s just hope the buyrates agree.</p>

Vampiro shifts gears on Konnan, angering the Latin temper of the champion by saying that Kidman showed how much better he is than both Konnan and Mysterio by not being the one who was pinned in their triple threat match. He says that by rights, Billy is the next in line for a shot – and with Konnan in a fury, he says that he’s going to “make Kidman toss his salad” at Bash at the Beach! After getting what he wants, Vampiro offers Rey a prize, since he deserves redemption as well – saying that if Mysterio plans to have a death wish, he can show up at the Bash to face Kanyon. Simon says that he’s sick and tired of hearing how “The Cat” Ernest Miller feels he’s the best, when there are so many better athletes in WCW – such as himself, C.W., and also Lance Storm! Disqo tries to get his attention to see if he skipped him, but Diamond brushes him off. “The Cat” comes to the ring and tells Simon that it sounds like that flat top he’s sporting musta seared off part of his brains, because only a fool thinks that “The Cat” isn’t the greatest! And he’s about to go kick some of that big booty of Diamond’s before moving on to that Canadian gumball Lance Storm. <em>“I have spoken!”</em> (Rating: C-)</p><p> </p><p> The so-called “gumball” Lance Storm distracts Ernest Miller during his match by taking away the ruby slipper, giving Simon Diamond a chance to hit the Simonizer (fireman’s carry inverted DDT) at 4:03 to pick up a big win. The two didn’t click in the ring at all. (Rating: D+)</p><p> </p><p> In a match that could have stood to have a few more minutes, Chuck Palumbo pins Chavo Guerrero Jr. with a small package in 4:01. Kaz Hayashi continuously interfered in the match, but Stacy Kiebler ran down to the ring and caused a distraction to Chavo in order to help Palumbo pick up the victory. These two also didn’t click in the ring at all. (Rating: C-)</p><p> </p><p> Gene and Jeremy have an interview in the aisle with young AJ Styles. He says that he has had it with Shane Douglas’s big mouth, saying that guys like him are the future, and he would have gladly let Shane have his present, but now he’s going to become the past! “The Franchise” interrupts, saying that there is no way Styles makes it to the future with attitude like that. He says that by Bash at the Beach, he is looking for number 110, and since he keeps seeming to wanna stick his nose into Goldberg’s business and point out that he ended the original streak, then he wants Kevin Nash in the ring! Goldberg looks excellent here. Nash answers, but it’s over a telephone call in after a brief advertising break – with Nash saying that if Goldberg wants retirement that badly, then he’ll do it like it’s 1998 all over again! (Rating: B+)</p><p> </p><p> The WCW Panel hype the card thus far for Bash at the Beach: Lust for the Gold, adding that there will be a special Lust “match” taking place; it will be a sexy bikini contest between all the women of WCW, and maybe even a few surprise participants! Gene can barely contain his excitement! (Rating: C-)</p><p> </p><p> Hugh Morrus is seen backstage alongside Sgt. A-WALL, and he’s talking to Kronik. It turns out he is facing Scott Steiner for the World Heavyweight title in our main event (something that commentary had already told fans before the opening segment, but I didn’t write that out) and he is looking to get their “assistance” in making sure it’s a fair match. He tells them he’ll pay double to make up for what he didn’t pay them previously, but Adams only tells him that they’ll think about it, but that Hugh doesn’t have any credit. He gives them the money, but after the former M.I.A. leave, Adams and Clark look at one another and leave the building! Clark came out of this looking excellent, as he only stood and looked menacing while Morrus and Adams did the talking. (Rating: C+)</p><p> </p><p> In a short match, Jimmy Snuka Jr. pins “Das Wunderkind” Alex Wright with the Superfly Twist in 2:01. Snuka seemed off his game in this one. (Rating: C-)</p><p> </p><p> As The Future, Chavo Guerrero Jr. and Kaz Hayashi, are packing up to leave the building, Rebel Pride, Kid Kash and Jamie Knoble, approach them. Kash says that it looks like Guerrero had some problems out there earlier. Chavo grumbles at him, but “The K-I-D” is there on business; he says that he and Chavo need to finish off their problems so each of them can move on, and he wants it one-on-one, next week on Nitro! Chavo says that Kash doesn’t deserve another match against him, but putting this behind him will give he and Kaz a fresh start on their Future plans, so he’ll take him on! (Rating: D-)</p><p> </p><p> Gene and Jeremy interview Lance Storm, who says that “The Cat” can’t be the greatest, because he is a dancing joke. Storm proclaims that while he can occasionally enjoy a few funny limericks here and there, at Bash at the Beach it’ll be time to get serious for a moment, and he will easily put Miller down as he is the best technical wrestler in the world. (Rating: C-)</p><p> </p><p> In a far more open match than one likely would have expected, Booker T defeats Yoshihiro Tajiri with a rollup at 12:14. Booker looked really good during this match. (Rating: C)</p><p> </p><p> But when the match is over and Booker T is leaving the arena, “The Chosen One” Jeff Jarrett appears from out of the shadows and lays Booker out with the Acoustic Equalizer! The United States champion has made a big statement tonight! (Rating: B+)</p><p> </p><p> In a short match designed to calm the crowd, Animal pins Norman Smiley with a powerslam at 1:38. (Rating: D)</p><p> </p><p> The lights flicker and go out, with a spotlight shining on Sting as he watches up in the rafters! Sting points his bat toward Animal, but the Road Warrior, despite initially seeming to be startled, calls for Sting to come down to the ring! “The Stinger” instead snaps his fingers, causing the lights to turn out, and when they come back on he has disappeared. Sting came out of this segment looking excellent. (Rating: B)</p><p> </p><p> In our main event, “Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner successfully defends his WCW World Heavyweight title over Hugh Morrus. Midajah nearly cost Steiner the match not long before that by missing her cue to put Scott’s leg over the bottom rope during a pin. Hugh took full advantage of the confusion of the Steiners and Midajah to roll Steiner up, holding the tights, but the champion kicks out. Rick Steiner makes the difference then by tripping Morrus up as he was running the ropes. That gives Scott the chance to hit a big belly-to-belly suplex, and as Rick chews out Midajah for her failure, Scott locks in the Steiner Recliner to get the submission victory in 8:26. (Rating: B)</p><p> </p><p> The Steiner Brothers take a microphone after the match and they talk about how they will work together at Bash at the Beach to dominate the Iron Man Challenge and will eliminate the challenge of all those who stand against them. But out to the stage comes Ric Flair and Dustin Rhodes, who say that they will not let Scott and Rick get rid of the competition. A tag team match is set up for next week, but Flair and Rhodes don’t say that they will definitely be the opponents as Sting appears in the rafters again – letting the Steiners know that next week, <em>“It’s Showtime!”</em> See you next week, fans! 11. Good to see ya back in action, man. Sometimes you just need that breather to get back into gear again. Definitely looking forward to what comes up for Havoc!

  13. <p>I too like Raven and Badd, but it sounds like they aren't going to fix things up unless you cut them. That out of the way, while I'm sure the smartest bet may be the Gunns, as they would likely get over in a heartbeat with the southern fried rasslin' crowd, I'm going to throw my vote behind Kojima and Kanemoto. They would bring something very different to the scene, and if you do them right they could be facing off with Dangerous Alliance members sooner rather than later. They too would likely need a mouthpiece for a little bit, but I'm sure you can find someone who could use a new team of fresh faced, young Japanese stars to lead toward the top.</p><p> </p><p> On a separate note, man it's too bad it's only 1992 if you're Madusa, right? I mean, I'm playing in 2001 and the best I can really do for her in WCW is make her a manager. But that said, I'm not sure mixed tag titles is the best idea. As Ted said, there are already a lot of titles floating around, and just barely enough TV time to fit them all in. All of them <em>seem</em> very prestigious right now... but that's because a lot of them are in the Alliance, and so they're getting airtime all at once. But if they were to lose a few of those belts, they could very easily spiral into "Mideon pulls a belt out of Shane McMahon's duffel bag" levels of worthiness. I have to wonder if perhaps your best option (in perhaps a few months' time) would be to break from the NWA so that you can just promote yourself instead of having to split your focus that way as well.</p><p> </p><p> That said, though, you're doing a fine job of keeping everything together (personally I'd need at least one more B show to handle this much talent <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> ) but I thought it might be some nice food for thought.</p>
  14. Steve Austin Steiner and Dude - This pairing could have some really fun banter. Bradshaw Harlem Heat Rich Steiner - The loss of some guys to WCW could be just the ticket to put the M$C back on the map a bit. Matt Hardy Hollywood Hogan - This is 1997. I don't care what universe it's in, Chris Benoit isn't defeating Hogan in 1997. Try again in 2003. A&C - They need a big win to establish why they're in the TOW, this is a good place for that. Mortis Goldberg Lance Storm Lord Regal Vader and Bigelow - Lordy lordy, this match will be ugly and brutal. Something tells me I'd have watched more of the WWF this past week. I wish I could say I had a concrete reason why, but I don't.
  15. Just like the conversation about realism going on over in my thread, I find it very realistic that Miller, Totally Buff, and the Mamalukes are getting a push here. A lot of 2001 games would just look at these guys' stats and job them off the map, but WCW were really pushing them in 2000. There's no reason to believe (and, of course, no evidence to the contrary) that they wouldn't have continued to do so if they kept living through 2001. Now, I can't say I'm not guilty of letting Ernest become a bit of a JTTS, but here's your game propping him up so well in ways that mine doesn't. Some people give Ernest Miller a main event feud, others give Konnan a championship. Now for predictions... Sting - One thing I think we can all agree on though, is that Rick Steiner tends to not win when against the big names. The Insiders - The newfound heelness of Nash and Page secures them a (not so squeaky clean) victory. Sean O'Haire Chavo Guerrero Jr - Chavito's time to shine. Kanyon and Awesome - Who's more Awesome than Kanyon? NOBODY

I know in past TEWs, sometimes a company would want to sue you for breaking the contract, and WCW doesn't have the money to eat that cost. I wanted this to be WCW, with all the history that involves, for better and for worse. It would have been really easy to fire guys like the Harris Boys or Jim Duggan at the start, but that's not as fun to me. </p><p> </p><p> The biggest surprise I've had is actually that Buff hasn't given me a reason to release him yet. I've kinda looked forward to that so I could get out of his big contract, but he's been a model employee since the start of the game. Has it been financially rewarding? Is there a TV option that makes sense for you yet?</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Disappointing, to be honest. The amount of money I've been losing is a lot less, but my PPV revenue isn't much higher per month than what it was for Sin, SuperBrawl, or Greed. Some of that is likely because the Turner PPV broadcaster was bigger than the two PPV broadcasters I'm running now, but it's a little frustrating after six months to still be losing about $800,000 a month.</p><p> </p><p> The biggest financial gain I've had has been from losing some contracts as I go and scaling back on arenas. Nitro would be drawing big crowds, but those big arenas take a lot more to run than what my little 2,000 seat Hard Rock Cafe arena does.</p><p> </p><p> I could absolutely get on a commercial network, have one in mind for something pretty soon to be honest, and it would likely be better in the long run. However, when I set up those PPV deals for Nitro, I made them for either six or nine months. That makes them run until about September at the minimum or the end of the year at max. So I am going to just wait those out now.</p>

That's a big part of why I signed up guys like Jerry Jarrett and Gabe Sapkosky actually, so that if I sign guys or do things that happened in the early days of TNA or ROH, it won't seem too far out of left field <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> There are of course more guys from the indys that I intend to sign in time, but I didn't want to give WCW a huge shift. They honestly already have a pretty solid roster from the start of the game despite the few stiffs and youngsters who haven't peaked yet, so I saw little reason to bring in a ton of the future stars that we all know now.</p><p> </p><p> Plus, the WWF need guys from the indys as well to keep them going in the future, and they have Heyman there to bring in guys from ECW after it's "closure".</p><p> </p><p> What can I say? Not even in wrestling in general, a long list just from WCW. His name was right in the list alongside those like Dusty Rhodes, Jim Herd, Ole Anderson, Kevin Sullivan, and Vince Russo as the men who tried to take on Vince McMahon and failed. But a second chance came when Ted Turner was in the process of being voted out of his own company and decided that selling to Eric – for the cost of a dollar – was the right thing to do in order to keep his spirit alive in the “rasslin” company that he had funded since 1988.</p><p> </p><p> Despite some initial growing pains dealing with the finances of having Turner Era contracts without Turner Era money and also dealing with networks who didn’t want to air the company who had lost the Monday Night War, Eric forged ahead with Nitro and Thunder on TNT and TBS until their TV deals ended. Those first three months of the year saw “Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner run roughshod over the landscape of WCW. Ever since his brother Rick joined him back at Sin, he has taken on Sid Vicious, the returning Booker T, and both Kevin Nash and Diamond Dallas Page, all while dealing with “The Nature Boss” Ric Flair as CEO as Flair tried to make Steiner a great champion in the vein of Harley Race, Dusty Rhodes, and himself. Steiner’s reign of terror has cost WCW one of it’s greatest stars, as Diamond Dallas Page hasn’t been seen in WCW since Greed when he was beaten by “The Big Bad Booty Daddy.” On the final Nitro of the TNT Era, Steiner defeated Kevin Nash in a steel cage match to fully secure just how dominant he has been in the past year. Once that era had ended with The Big Bang, WCW went dark for two weeks before The Big Bang, and thanks to Jerry and Jeff Jarrett, Eric was able to find WCW Nitro a brand new home: as a live weekly pay-per-view every Friday evening!</p><p> </p><p> WCW Friday Nitro is definitely the place to be for all the best pro wrestling action in the world. Hosted by a three-man commentary team of lead announcer “Iron” Mike Tenay, play-by-play analyst Scott Hudson, and the legendary wisdom of “Double A” Arn Anderson, Nitro comes to you live every week from the Hard Rock Cafe in Las Vegas, Nevada! And don’t forget the live pre-show, mid-show, and post-show reports from Tony Schiavone and The WCW Panel! The Panel consists of the greatest analyst in the history of the sport Tony Schiavone, the youthful energy of Chris Lovey, my mentor and favorite teacher ever “Mean” Gene Okerlund, myself, and the streetwise stylings of former ten time WCW World Tag Team champion Stevie Ray.</p><p> </p><p> Since WCW Friday Nitro began to air, Scott Steiner continued to have a lot of his plate. Tully Blanchard came out of retirement for one night only at WCW Envy to teach Steiner some respect, but Steiner ended up putting Blanchard right back on the shelf. This has brought out the competitive spirit of “The Nature Boy” who discarded his suit and tie for a robe and wrestling boots again, being dismissed as WCW CEO in order to try winning that elusive seventeenth World title win. He defeated Steiner at The Great American Bash: Gluttony, but it was only by disqualification. On the final Nitro of June, Eric Bischoff announced a six man tag team Iron Man Challenge match to determine the true rankings for the WCW World Heavyweight championship, as the Steiner Brothers team with Animal to take on Ric Flair, Dustin Rhodes, and the man who earned a number one contendership, Sting, at Bash at the Beach: Lust for the Gold!</p><p> </p><p> In the entirety of the year, Scott Steiner has had one itch that he could not scratch in six months: that being “Da Man” Goldberg, who has defeated Steiner practically every time the two have been in the ring under non-title rules. Why non-title? Because even though Vince Russo left the company, the documents he drew up forcing Goldberg to once again win a consecutive streak of victories like he did in 1998 were iron-clad. This means Goldberg cannot challenge for the WCW World championship until he has won 176 matches in a row! As of the start of July, he is well on his way to that goal, having earned 106 wins. He took on the narcissistic duo of Totally Buff, the veteran powerhouse Animal, and non-title wins over Scott Steiner through the first six events of the year. The streak looks as though it could go the distance, as Goldberg has just ended the WCW career of Sid Vicious during a Caged Heat match on the final Nitro of June. But is Kevin Nash looking to break the streak for a second time, or are his passive-aggressive jabs just “Big Sexy” being his usual cocky self?</p><p> </p><p> A feud that dominated the airwaves since January dealt with the Natural Born Thrillers. At the beginning of the year, the five Power Plant graduates were a well-oiled machine. But not long after that, the wheels fell off the machine as Mike Sanders bailed on his companions at SuperBrawl: Revenge. Sean O’Haire stepped forward and as “leader” of the group he did what he felt needed done by kicking Shawn Stasiak from it’s ranks. But Stasiak had a backup plan, joining up with Lance Storm’s Team Canada to get back at them. Rechristening his group as The World, Storm and Stasiak took away the World Tag Team championships from the NBT. But with the help of Booker T, whom Storm defeated on the final episode of WCW Thunder, O’Haire and Jindrak won the belts back on the final Nitro on TNT. Since then, Booker and the Thrillers squared off with The World for months. Booker defeated Storm in a Pride match, forcing Lance to be censored about his beliefs that Canadians are better than Americans, but Lance followed that up by winning the Envy match. He still has not cashed in either his Tag Team title match against O’Haire or the title match he won by virtue of winning the bout. (Who knows what he did with Dusty Rhodes’s cowboy boots.) Sid Vicious found himself in the fray as he feuded with Mike Awesome, and it culminated at the Great American Bash in a WarGames match where the losing team would have to disband. Booker won the bout by forcing Storm to black out, causing the end of The World and of this long running feud. Where everyone goes from here is anyone’s guess, but Storm immediately distanced himself from all his former stablemates by calling them “losers” and saying that he is going to never burden himself with losers again.</p><p> </p><p> Failing at their bid to retire Goldberg, Totally Buff found themselves doing whatever they could to make an impact in the new era of WCW. To this end, they assaulted Kevin Nash repeatedly, who they claimed had no friends left to help him in WCW and should just leave along with Page and Scott Hall. But after months of being gouged by Luger, Bagwell, and Madusa, Nash proved that you don’t need friends, just people who dislike Totally Buff more than they do you, as he and Goldberg sent Totally Buff to lick their wounds at Great American Bash: Gluttony. On the final week of June, Luger and Bagwell attacked the Natural Born Thrillers; questions remain about why they did so at this time, but given the two have a penchant for bragging, it likely will not be long until they reveal their reasoning.</p><p> </p><p> At The Big Bang, Eric Bischoff announced the closure of two championship divisions to make way for a new one. The WCW Cruiserweight and WCW Hardcore titles were to be no more, and in their place is the brand new WCW X-Division. The X-Division is all about no limits, and none personify that more than the first champion did, Rey Mysterio Jr. Rey defended the title with pride, as his Filthy Animals friends backed him up. However, the words of Vampiro seeped into the ear of Billy Kidman, who decimated Mysterio and Konnan in what appeared to be a jealous rage, joining up with Vampiro in his Dark Eden. The Dark Eden, consisting of Vampiro, Kanyon, and Daffney, welcomed Kidman with open arms, saying that his deliverance was soon at hand. (Though hopefully not the same deliverance that was given to Crowbar, whom we last saw in a room filling with blood, and no one has checked if he ever got out!) Vampiro drove a wedge between the Animals using Kidman’s desire to be better than just “Rey’s buddy” and in the process drove a wedge between longtime friends Mysterio and Konnan, who took an opportunity during a triple threat match between the three and won the X-Division title from Rey at the Great American Bash. With the Filthy Animals a distant memory, this fire doesn’t seem to be settling down anytime soon. But who will come out with deliverance via the Dark Eden?</p><p> </p><p> Somewhere along the line, Eric Bischoff found himself a small sum of money. WCW had bled money in the past, but in January of 2001, it lost over six million dollars! This is all due in part to some of the contracts that are holdovers from the Ted Turner Era, contracts so profitable to it’s stars that they are nearly bankrupting the company. But in May, Eric’s luck changed, and somehow he got a loan for an undisclosed amount from an undisclosed source. WCW’s luck is changing, and thanks to that loan and the support of the fans who order WCW Friday Nitro each week as well as it’s events each and every month, we are coming back to the top of the wrestling world!</p><p> </p><p> One of the criticisms WCW has always faced was it’s reliance on older stars who made their names elsewhere and then came to WCW’s shores. This has changed over the last year, but especially in the past six months. There have been several new debuts to WCW in the past few months, and most of them members of the exciting new X-Division. Young AJ Styles has been one of the hottest prospects in pro wrestling in the last few years, and is learning very quickly. Simon Diamond and C.W. debuted as The Problem Solvers, with Simon having taken Disqo under his wing as a protege of the “Simon’s Self-Help” manual. Kid Kash joined WCW and found himself at odds with Chavo Guerrero Jr. and his new partner Kaz Hayashi, with Kash finding a partner of his own in fellow redneck Jamie Knoble. Jimmy Snuka brought his son Jimmy Snuka Jr. to WCW, and the second generation star has found himself an incredible windfall when he won the Gluttony match. Will he get used to luxury by the time six more months have passed? Leia Meow, tired of being embarrassed by Norman Smiley, brought in a secret weapon from the Orient in “Japanese Buzzsaw” Yoshihiro Tajiri, and that wild man could go after anyone next! The latest new face to appear is one who had been hyped for months, and on the final Nitro of June, Low-Ki finally made his debut. The sky could be the limit for this young star!</p><p> </p><p> Since December, alliances ended such as the Misfits in Action, Filthy Animals, Team Canada/The World, and the Jung Dragons. Some others went into hiding such as the Mamalukes and 2 Count. Others remained, like the core three members of the Natural Born Thrillers, Kronik, and Totally Buff, and new ones grew, like Dark Eden, The Future, Rebel Pride, and the Problem Solvers. 20. <p>{Edit: Haha, I'm kinda bored while at work today, so don't mind the rambling message <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> }</p><p> </p><p> I think one of the somewhat interesting parts of starting with this diary from January instead of from May in the WCW Lives mod is that Sid is usable. His bad knee injury happened only two weeks after the start of this mod, and it's a fun "what if" that he is able to continue on instead of having the injury that for all intents and purposes ended his career.</p><p> </p><p> Something I looked into before writing that Eric and Sid section was a shoot interview that Sid gave where he talked about Goldberg. In it, he said that he thought Goldberg was a good guy to work with, and that he had too many guys play with his head in both WCW and the WWE. That was why I felt it was a good way to send him out against Goldberg, because he definitely wouldn't have minded doing the loss to him even in real life. But due to the pay argument, I did set him up a "simmering tension" with Eric.</p><p> </p><p> As for Sid's future in this game, well... Sid definitely floated between the WWF and WCW a lot during the 90s, and the WWF can always use some big names to shake things up. Sid vs Kane? Sid vs Austin? Sid vs BikerTaker? Sid vs Triple H? There are some really cool feud ideas for him on the other side if/when that plunge is taken.</p><p> </p><p> WCW isn't coming into this with a loss though, as one of the prizes that DGenerationMC got was helping my decision on where another popular soon to be free agent went, and he chose WCW. It won't be long until this person is ready to debut. Plus, Uncle Eric still has the Outsiders to lock down yet soon.</p>
  21. <p>The Week that Was: June 2001, Week 4</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43111" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><em>Minutes Before Nitro…</em></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> <span style="color:#FFFF00;">“Just what the hell is this?!”</span></p><p> </p><p> The very loud voice screaming at me belonged to Sid Vicious, who, given the papers that he had thrown at me and the way he walked over with wide eyes and intense yelling, had apparently looked over the new contract extension that I had handed him when he arrived.</p><p> </p><p> <span style="color:#0000FF;">“Which part don’t you like?”</span></p><p> </p><p> <span style="color:#FFFF00;">“How can you even sit there and offer me this little money compared to what I’m making now?”</span></p><p> </p><p> Sid had been making $200,000 a month. That’s over two million dollars a year that he had been getting since his last extension at the beginning of 2000. That’s two million dollars that we simply cannot give anyone right now. The contract I offered him now is a little lower.</p><p> </p><p> <span style="color:#FFFF00;">“You expect me to not be upset when you try to cut my throat like this?”</span></p><p> </p><p> <span style="color:#0000FF;">“Sid, a lot of guys are making a hell of a lot less than that. Look, I can’t pay you anything close to what you were already making, alright? He closes by saying that history could be made here again tonight as he is offering a huge opportunity to the runner-up of the King of the Ring tournament, Jeff Hardy, in this very ring! This opportunity was revealed later in the evening as he announced that Jeff would receive a World Heavyweight championship bout, right here in Madison Square Garden! The Power Trip also said that they would make their own surprise announcement at the end of the show.</p><p> </p><p> Mr. McMahon’s reign of terror continued throughout the evening as he sent the Island Tribe, Lo-Down, and Dudley Boyz after Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho in a fatal four way match for the WWF World Tag Team titles. Benoit was able to score the win by locking the Crossface on Chaz, but the Dudleyz put Jericho through a table afterwards!</p><p> </p><p> Trish Stratus tried to call out Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley, wanting to get her into the ring, but Stephanie appeared only on the Titantron to tell Trish that this is a historic night for her and her family, and she doesn’t have time to deal with tramps like Stratus!</p><p> </p><p> Edge’s King of the Ring coronation saw him announce this as the year that we see the one true King of Awesomeness! He really had the crowd going as he gave a special TEN second pose while holding up both the trophy and the European championship. However, he followed this bragging up by resorting to underhanded tactics to retain that championship over K-Kwik, putting his feet on the ropes during a pinfall to hold the youngster down.</p><p> </p><p> The main event rolled around and Jeff Hardy gave it his all against “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. Jeff had asked Matt and Lita to stay in the back so he could prove he can do it on his own, but obviously Austin had no intentions of doing so as well, as Triple H had no issues coming into the ring and delivering the Pedigree to secure Austin’s title for him. Afterwards, they talked about being a well-oiled team once again, and it was time to regain what they had lost: they wanted Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho in the ring this week on SmackDown!, and they would be the Tag Team champions once again!</p><p> </p><p> In other action: Rob Van Dam stayed out of the Hardyz’ business tonight as he retained the Hardcore title over Funaki; The Big Show said that he still has plans to dismantle the Power Trip with his own two hands; Albert defeated The Godfather, but was sent from the ring along with Justin Credible thanks to Undertaker and DDP; Spike Dudley with manager Molly Holly defeated Perry Saturn; William Regal used a pair of brass knuckles to defeat Steve Blackman.</p><p> </p><p> <em>Show Rating: A</em><hr></details></p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43111" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="wDSynh8.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/wDSynh8.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> <iframe width="220" height="180" src="<a href="https://www.youtube.com/embed/1KVxGNbkfSk?rel=0&controls=0&showinfo=0" rel="external nofollow">https://www.youtube.com/embed/1KVxGNbkfSk?rel=0&controls=0&showinfo=0"</a> frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe></p><p> </p><p> <hr><details><summary><strong>WWF SmackDown!</strong></summary></p><p> Madison Square Garden may see more history as the World Tag Team championships are on the line on WWF SmackDown!</p><p> </p><p> Mr. McMahon proudly opens the show, with Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley at his side. He talked about how he couldn’t wait to see Austin and Hunter bring more gold back to the Power Trip. However, the commissioner, Shane McMahon, decided to come out to the ring, and he wasn’t alone – Linda McMahon made an appearance as well! Linda and Shane collectively rained on Vince’s parade by talking about how he has shown how much he cares about Madison Square Garden; bringing up a clip from December where Vince told her he wanted a divorce and that he didn’t care about the WWF fans. She said that she and Shane would be watching on tonight, and if anything he did wasn’t to the interest of fairness, she would make Vince pay for it in the divorce proceedings!</p><p> </p><p> The Power Trip didn’t seem too bothered about Linda though, as at the start of the show they were more worried about trying not to eat the cookies that Debra had baked. Mr. McMahon showed up again later during a match between Raven and The Big Show, where he sent the Island Tribe after Show to give him the win via DQ. </p><p> </p><p> With Stephanie on edge, Trish Stratus was able to pin her down. However she wasn’t able to rattle “Daddy’s Little Girl” enough to get her into the ring, but instead Stephanie told her she would get a match for Fully Loaded against Ivory.</p><p> </p><p> Ivory was in action against Molly Holly, winning after Molly’s attention was pulled from the ring by the Dudley Boyz coming to ringside and trying to forcibly pull Spike away. Molly and Spike were able to get away from them, but Bubba and D-Von let them know that they aren’t done with them yet!</p><p> </p><p> Edge came to the ring and boasted more about being both European champion and King of the Ring, but this time his attitude got the attention of “The One” Billy Gunn. Gunn said those were both things that he’s done in his career as well, and he wasn’t being a pain in the neck about it. Edge said that yes, Billy had won those things before – and squandered both of them, saying that he promised not to “Billy Gunn” his reign! Gunn tells Edge that he’ll get a chance to see at Fully Loaded, as Billy still has a European title rematch clause to cash in on, and he’s going to cash it in on the 22nd!</p><p> </p><p> During the main event, the Power Trip very nearly won the titles back, but Benoit and Jericho fought hard. Frustrated, Austin grabbed a steel chair and went after Jericho with it, but Shane McMahon appeared and pulled it away from him! As Austin and Shane argued, Benoit took the advantage and hooked Triple H in the Crossface! With nowhere to go and “Stone Cold” too busy to notice, he was forced to tap out! After the match there was a staredown as Austin and Helmsley angrily watched Shane hand the titles over to Benoit and Jericho!</p><p> </p><p> Rob Van Dam was at WWF New York, but it became a match in the restaurant as Hardcore Holly attacked him! Van Dam was able to retain his Hardcore title by delivering a Five Star Frog Splash off a booth.</p><p> </p><p> In other action: DDP retains the Intercontinental title over Dean Malenko before saying that if Undertaker will have him, he’ll team with him against X-Factor; Perry Saturn approaches Rhyno for a new team, trying to get something fresh in his career, but they fall against the Hardy Boyz, which leads to Rhyno dropping Saturn with the Gore; the Godfather had some lovely ladies alongside himself and Val Venis, but after losing to the Dudley Boyz, Bubba Ray put one of the girls through a table; D’Lo defeats K-Kwik; Test defeats Eddie Guerrero.</p><p> </p><p> <em>Show Rating: B+</em><hr></details></p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43111" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="ZvDPOGe.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ZvDPOGe.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> <iframe width="220" height="180" src="<a href="https://www.youtube.com/embed/YgkWkveCaOk?rel=0&controls=0&showinfo=0" rel="external nofollow">https://www.youtube.com/embed/YgkWkveCaOk?rel=0&controls=0&showinfo=0"</a> frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe></p><p> </p><p> <hr><details><summary><strong>WWF Heat</strong></summary></p><p> The guest at WWF New York was The Godfather, who talked about how glad he was to be out from under Steven Richards’s thumb and back to his old self again. Despite some problems early on with Sid, he had no problems sticking with the script and doing his job for Goldberg. I don’t care if he did it for me, for the fans, or for Bill, as long as he did it. Losing Sid for sure is a loss, as he could jump back to the WWF and help bolster their roster or he could head to Japan and give either Inoki, Baba, or Misawa a big boost for any of their promotions. But if we can’t agree on money, then away he must go. Joining him on the way out are both of the Harris Boys, Scott Armstrong, and Billy Silverman. Calculations say that these five contracts ending will save me a cool $213,200 a month. It doesn’t sound like much when I’m looking at how we took a loss of $811,433 (not counting the $5,000 that went to Shane McMahon for the loan) but every little bit of leeway helps.</p><p> </p><p> There were a few people giving me notes during Nitro, as Kevin Nash claims The Wall isn’t worth keeping around because he has poor ring psychology; Scott Steiner says Shawn Stasiak needs to learn how to sell, but that’s why he has reported to Wildside; and Ric Flair thinks Kid Kash can’t connect with fans and can be written off because of it. Lance Storm is again continuing to get better at his Arch Competitor gimmick, if he keeps this up he may break through a threshold with it soon into “very good” territory. I ended up keeping Shane Douglas looking strong during his match with Mark Jindrak, not because Shane complained about taking a loss but just to keep him and his storyline with AJ Styles strong. I plan on announcing them a match for the Bash next week on Nitro.</p><p> </p><p> I laughed when I read an internet rumor that Vampiro was forming some political alliances and trying to get ahead in WCW. Hey, Ian may be an extremely negative person backstage, but I haven’t seen him ally up with anyone yet.</p><p> </p><p> Other news around the wrestling world sees Bob Caudle announce his retirement in the next few months and the still injured WWF Light Heavyweight champion Jerry Lynn be named the new head trainer for the Texas Wrestling Academy.</p><p> </p><p> I’ll report more at the end of next week, but right now there’s this new movie that Garrett has been bugging me to take him to go see. Something about being quick and angry? He says that the bald guy from Pitch Black is in it, so he’s pretty excited.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>----------</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="to4sty" data-cite="to4sty" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43111" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>What is Disco pushed as around now? He isn't old enough for time decline for another few years, but his popularity is at 45 all through the US. That's still low enough that I can put some others over him to get ahead, but low enough that he isn't climbing the ranks unless I were to really get behind him. At this point I'm trying to leech off of him in order to get Simon and CW up to his level. His ribs are taped up after last week’s attack, but he doesn’t seem fazed as he says that Sid has crossed him for the last time! He wants Sid out here right now to respond to his challenge. Vicious appears at the top of the ramp, telling Goldberg that in the grand scheme, he is an innocent bystander for the new rise of “The Master and Ruler of the World” as he rises back to the top of WCW. Goldberg tells Sid that he will get back to the top through his dead body – as tonight, this will be their final meeting ever! If Goldberg loses, he has to retire, but if Sid is so confident, he will put his WCW career on the line as well in a Caged Heat match! Goldberg says that Kevin Nash got him thinking last week about the people he has let close to him in the past, people who could beat his new streak if he lets his guard down for even a minute, so he is going to start taking those people out, one at a time, and since Vicious wanted to make an example of Goldberg last week, so too will Goldberg make an example of Sid tonight! Goldberg’s performance here is good, this has started the show very well and gotten the crowd red hot right off the bat. After playing to the crowd a little about not accepting this huge challenge, Vicious responds that tonight, two men will enter and only one man will leave, we will see Caged Heat! (Rating: A)</p><p> </p><p> After Sid and Goldberg have separately exited the arena, “Mean” Gene and “Green Bean” Jeremy are out at the top of the ramp. Gene hypes his rumors page on the all new WCW.com as being where you’ll find out what stars are leaving both the WWF and WCW at the end of this month, before bringing out his guest, “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair. Flair’s performance here is fantastic as he and Gene play off one another like it’s 1995, getting the crowd even hotter than they were before. Despite this segment going on for several minutes as Flair runs down Scott Steiner and all the other challengers for the WCW World championship, the most that’s really said here is that Flair wants to hear Eric Bischoff’s decision later about who will be main eventing at Bash at the Beach: Lust for the Gold! Brian Adams does the talking as he tells Hugh that he owes them some green, as all the checks he gave them weren’t signed and are therefore worth nothing. Clark square up to A-WALL, showing no fear and coming out of this looking excellent, but A-WALL underperforms because fans probably don’t think he could hold his own against guys built like KroniK. Morrus does little to calm the situation though, telling Adams that he gave them exactly what they deserved! They didn’t live up to all they said they would, as he had to bring in A-WALL to finish the job; therefore, they can hit the bricks and leave him alone! He shoves past KroniK, who are pissed about appearing to get screwed out of their money! (Rating: C+)</p><p> </p><p> A short montage video plays that hypes Goldberg’s career in WCW since his debut in 1997 until now. Could his WCW career end tonight? Stay tuned, fans! (Rating: B-)</p><p> </p><p> “The Franchise” Shane Douglas hits the ring, getting a microphone and going off on WCW administration. He says that they weren’t so pleased with how he swatted away AJ Styles like an annoying gnat, so they took him away from television until Douglas said he would play nice with the kids. But Shane had his fingers crossed the whole time, because he’s never once played nice in his career, he only agreed to come back and fight these punk kids just to keep getting TV time. Tonight, another punk kid gets Franchised, so bring them out for their wrestling lesson. This is kept fairly short as Sting just says that despite his plans to take care of Animal yet, he is also the number one contender for the World Heavyweight title. Could there possibly be something happening there? (Rating: C)</p><p> </p><p> We go backstage to where the Steiner Brothers are watching the show, and Scott is ranting and raving that nobody gives a damn about Chuck Palumbo, we’re just wasting time! The only thing important is Eric Bischoff getting his scrawny ass on his TV monitor so he knows who’s ass he gets to kick at Bash at the Beach! Rick adds in that he better get Dustin Rhodes in the ring again so he can punch that mouth of his shut, and both Steiners yell over one another talking about how they plan to inflict pain and torture on whoever is dumb enough to get in the ring with them. The segment was short, but both Rick and Scott were doing some great improvising with one another, so that’s a small victory. First he thanks everyone for his patience, as he couldn’t come to this decision easily as there are just too many challengers and only one World champion to go around. After also thanking the good people at the Long Beach Arena in Long Beach, California for hosting this year’s Bash at the Beach on July 15th, he commences to his big announcement. He says that Scott Steiner revolves around the championship entirely, which always seems to bring his brother Rick into play. Sting won the number one contendership match, but Animal keeps getting in his path. Dustin Rhodes wants a title shot, and Ric Flair defeated Steiner by disqualification at the Great American Bash. These are just a few of the names that he could give the bout to, but instead he is going to make things more interesting. In order to cause a sole number one contender, Eric is going to make a six tag team match for the Bash at the Beach pitting Sting, Ric Flair, and Dustin Rhodes against the Steiner Brothers and Animal. But to ensure we find out who is the cream of the crop, this match will be a half hour Iron Man Challenge match! The amount of falls the team makes during the match will determine the winner of the bout for their team, but also the amount of falls a single person makes during the match will determine their position in the World Heavyweight championship rankings. With that, Eric thanks everyone again for their patience and hopes they enjoy the rest of the show. (Rating: B)</p><p> </p><p> Following that we get a pre-taped interview featuring the former members of the Filthy Animals. First we hear from Konnan, who says that the spirit of competition fuels everyone, but there was no reason their friendships had to fall apart because of it. We hear from Mysterio, telling us that Kidman crossed the line when he attacked them and joined up with Dark Eden, but that Konnan broke his heart by slipping in the backdoor to take away his title like he did. Rey feels Konnan shouldn’t have done that if he was a true friend, which is when we cut back to Konnan explaining that it was a title match; he harbors no ill will toward Rey, but he was gonna do what he had to do. Then we cut to Kidman, who says that both Rey and Konnan are falling apart just like Vampiro said that they would. Billy says they never really cared about what he thought in the Animals, and in time they would have run him out of the group just like they did to Eddie, Juvi, and Disqo, but he beat them to it and now they can’t stand it. The video ends with clips of each of them saying that as far as they’re concerned, this is about more than just the X Division title, and it’s far from over. Jason may have at one time been “The Sexiest Man Alive” but on this day he is nothing more than a punching bag as Ki destroys him with vicious kicks and high impact strikes before making him tap out in the Dragon Clutch at 2:24. He nervously brings in Lance Storm as “Vance Storm” to which Storm tells him that if he slips the tongue like that again, he’ll kick it out of his face. Lance says that he is sick and tired of fools making a mockery of this great sport of professional wrestling such as Ernest Miller. Storm comes across well here, saying that if he can be serious for a moment, Storm plans on making a showing later this evening to once again prove that he is the greatest wrestler in the world today. This brings in “The Cat” who tells Storm that there can only be one greatest, and that is Miller himself. “The Cat” says that while it hasn’t been mentioned in some time, he has quietly retained his commissioner powers in WCW, and as such he is making a match between he and Lance for Bash at the Beach where we can see just who is the greatest! He tells Storm to get lost before he knocks that flat top of his off onto Gene’s bald dome, with Storm saying that he will not be made a fool of, that Miller can watch what he does to Kid Kash later tonight to see what’s in store for him on the 15th! (Rating: C-)</p><p> </p><p> A short montage video plays that hypes Sid Vicious’s career in WCW since his return in 1999 until now. Could his WCW career end tonight? Stay tuned, fans! Unfortunately this match was told to calm the crowd, but they had already been somewhat disinterested over the past few segments so it fell very flat. (Rating: D+)<hr></details></p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Time for another “on the town” vignette, but instead of a smoking hot blond and a decent looking guy, this time it’s a family of Fijian descent. The Snukas are hitting the stores, with Jimmy Jr. balking at a few high price tags until his father reminds him that this is the kind of life that he won for himself and that he should live it up, just a little at least. It starts to look like a Pretty Woman style fashion montage as father and son are fitted with brand new, custom made suits, and while it does make the two look like a dashing duo, Jr. still looks pretty uncomfortable with the situation that he is in. The somewhat comedic tone of the video got the crowd interested in the show again at least. But Storm, despite trying to prove that he’s the greatest wrestler in the world, ends up utilizing a low blow behind referee Rudy Charles’s back in order to lock in the Canadian Maple Leaf and earn a tap out victory at 3:35. (Rating: C-)<hr></details></p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> It is main event time, and we go to a Tale of the Tape. This isn’t the first go-round for Sid Vicious and Goldberg, and they are ranked and statted against one another under categories of height, weight, championships won, years pro, times fought inside a steel cage, and times one has defeated the other. Both men have distinct advantages over the other, but will any of that matter inside Caged Heat? It’s time to find out! (Rating: B)</p><p> </p><p> The Hell in a Cell– I mean, the Caged Heat cell lowers from the ceiling as David Penzer does the entrances for both men. Vicious comes out first, looking as though he has a new lease on life as a newly minted heel again, but Goldberg looks fantastic as he powers through the pain in his ribs to enter the match. Mike Tenay channels Tony Schiavone by saying that this is the biggest main event since WCW Nitro’s relaunch in April! (Rating: B)</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43111" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><hr><details><summary><strong>Caged Heat Loser Leaves WCW Match</strong></p><p><strong> Sid Vicious vs. “Da Man” Goldberg</strong></summary></p><p> This is a brawl right from the start as these two men throw everything they have at one another. Big punches and kicks are the name of these two’s game with such force and intensity. The hot crowd are buzzing, and Arn Anderson talks about how a cage match like this, even if you aren’t the one losing your career by the end, will shorten your career anyways. Sid takes over when the match spills to the outside by slamming Goldberg against the cage wall, and he hits a big bodyslam that rocks the body of “Da Man” in the ring. It is all Vicious for a few minutes in the match, but Goldberg comes back with a Spear! He isn’t able to make the cover, but his ribs begin to bother him and that lets Sid get back in control. He is visibly tired by the all out pace of the match but he goes out of the ring and gets a table set up between the ring and the cage! He wants to put Goldberg through it again to end his career for good! But when he tries to set up the powerbomb, he takes a moment to taunt his foe and Goldberg instead forces Sid against the turnbuckle post, before back body dropping him onto the floor! Goldberg fires Sid back into the ring, and he ducks under Vicious’s big boot attempt to hit his own big side kick, connecting with Sid’s jaw! The big man is stunned and staggered, and Goldberg capitalizes with another big Spear! The ribs are definitely bothering him but adrenaline is flowing as Goldberg snarls at the crowd. Sid takes over again with a one handed chokeslam, and he is ready to deliver the coup de grace, the Powerbomb that has won him fame around the world. He lifts Goldberg up, but “Da Man” has more fight in him as he punches and forearm smashes Sid in the forehead. Vicious drops to a knee, and Goldberg gets back on his feet and pulls him up – Jackhammer! It was planted right in the center of the ring, and Goldberg hooks the leg! </p><p> </p><p> 1!</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> 2!</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> 3!</p><p> </p><p> It’s over! The bell sounds at 12:24, as Sid’s WCW career has come to an end! (Rating: B) </p><p> </p><p> But it doesn’t look all finished yet. As Goldberg is leaving the ring, he notices the table still set up on the outside. He shows no remorse for Sid’s career, deciding to put an exclamation point on this victory as he lifts Sid and slams him down through the table! Vicious writhes in pain in the broken splinters of the table, Sid may underperform at his selling but Goldberg looks fantastic. Just as Tenay is closing out the show to send us to the WCW Panel, we cut away from Goldberg’s celebration to see Kevin Nash at the top of the ramp. He slowly applauds Goldberg on his win here, but is he being generous or sarcastic? It can be hard to tell with “Big Sexy” but at any rate we are out of time for tonight, so good night fans, and good night to the career of Sid Vicious! Chris Lovey and Jeremy Borash talk about how they first knew of Sid in the late 1980s as part of the Skyscrapers and the early 90s as a Horseman, and Stevie Ray says that he got his first big break teaming with Sid in 1993. They ignore his WWF stints for the most part before saying that he took everyone by surprise by returning to WCW in 1999 and winning WCW championship gold for the first time in his career. 23. <p>Man B, you do such a good job with this time period. I'm a little jealous that even in a six month game, I generally feel like the third wheel (well, second now as it seems TFC has gone missing) because you do such an amazing job keeping things feeling fresh even if the characters aren't always very fresh. Also I really like that Hell Raiser cut.</p><p> </p><p> Sting - <em>Despite his big talk, I can't see Storm being able to pull this one off. At least not on some random Nitro while Scott Steiner is in the headlights.</em></p><p> Lex Luger - <em>Assuming that next week is O'Haire vs. Bagwell, Palumbo falls here.</em></p><p> Jung Dragons - <em>Too bad about their turn not working out. It felt like you built up to it well though?</em></p><p> Dustin Rhodes</p><p> Ernest Miller - <em>I think you've pushed The Cat better than anyone before you in any diary ever has.</em></p><p> Animal - <em>He may take the win, but it'll be by a DQ of some sort.</em></p>
  24. Really incredible show, it is gonna take some huge effort for anyone to actually step in and stop the Dangerous Alliance now. Any misstep that they may have had from losing at WarGames is long in the past now.
  25. Ahmed Johnson Wolfpac Scott Steiner Dogs of War Jake Roberts Matt Hardy Hogan/Savage/Warrior - A team this big honestly just can't lose. Giant Alex Wright - WCW 2001 Tajiri will have this match handily taken, but WCW 97 Tajiri is a clean shaven, blue and white trunks wearing enhancement talent. Goldberg Scott Norton Lord Regal - I could see you giving this one to Jeff, given Regal hasn't been shown doing anything with the belt for a few weeks now so the change of pace could be good. But I'm pulling for his Lordship anyways! Soul Train I think this week I would have been tuning into Raw to see what happened after Summerslam.
