  1. Knowing the stories of how Bret in real life (especially in the early 2000s) is kind of a curmudgeonly old fuddy-duddy, I had already assumed that the Dragons came up with "OBJECTION!" from playing the game themselves or how it caught on in Japan, and they started doing it. Now it's taken off, and soon they'll be winning the Tag Team titles at Starrcade! *fingers crossed* Manami Toyota - The heel turn is in vain as Toyota retains the title in a hard-fought bout. Etsuko Mita - If Mita loses this one, then the Empire really are pretty much gone. Toyota vs. Mita will be world class. Kong and Masami - I like the team of Danger and Laree for sure, but not their night. Daffney and LuFisto - Dark anime on patrol, it's the End of Evangelion all up in this bitch! Momoe Nakanishi Moretti and Kandori MOTN: Mita vs. Hokuto Titles: 0
  2. Week 3 News and Notes From the desk of Eric Bischoff: “Yo Eric, tonight’s my big night! You gotta watch the show man, you just gotta! It’s gonna be big!” That sentence took me out to a local bar which was playing WWF Judgment Day on the television. As I sipped a beer, I saw Dallas Page appear for the technically second time on WWF programming, as he came out of the crowd to win the Intercontinental title from Triple H. As much as I’d have liked to keep Dallas on in WCW, I understood his wishes and let him move on to the WWF. I’m glad to see he isn’t being pushed aside, as this is a big storyline that he could become a part of with the Power Trip. Throughout the course of the week, I had both Gene Okerlund and Jeremy Borash come up to me asking for pay raises. While neither were asking for a lot more, I took their roles in the future in mind when it came down to it. While Jeremy received all $350 he wanted (making his pay a mere $850 a month), I only gave Gene half of the $720 that he asked for. It didn’t matter how I tried to explain it to him, he left my side pretty annoyed by this. On a side note of pay, leaning more toward contracts, Vanessa’s contract is coming up within next month. While she has frequently helped the segments of the Filthy Animals as Tygress, she is making money that I could definitely be funneling toward other workers who have a bigger selling point. I am still debating on whether to offer her a new deal or just let her go for now. During Nitro, I had heard Scott Steiner and Kevin Nash talking during Shawn Stasiak’s match on the pre-show saying that they don’t know why I’m even keeping Shawn around. Nash felt he has poor ring psychology and Scott claiming that “I got sweat on my bicep with more charisma than this kid.” While I can’t say I don’t disagree to a certain extent, Shawn isn’t the worst young wrestler out there, and his current role in a major storyline can’t have me shipping him to Wildside anyways, so they are just going to have to watch him whether they like it or not. Bill DeMott was more positive, saying that after seeing him basically control the entire match against Elix Skipper, he thinks Rey Mysterio will definitely be a star and that he’s worth pushing hard. Splitting up the Filthy Animals will hopefully do good for all three of them, as Kidman’s new “Punk” gimmick was met with an average response. This past week on the WWF side of things, Perry Saturn picked up a bad bicep rip during a tag team match. Rumors say he’ll be out of action for about a month. They claim Mark Henry is starting to look a little flabby as of late, a noted improvement over how bulky he was before. Sean Waltman was on a radio show and said some good things about Christian, revealing that the two had sparked a little friendship. But the best news is that Shane McMahon came through for me! The number he had given me for someone who was very hotly on the WWF’s radar was a great lead, and I snapped them up in a heartbeat. I know I really shouldn’t be making a lot of new signings, but there are probably six contracts that I’m planning to have run out at the end of next month, and after however the WWF got ahold of so many guys that I was looking into a few months ago, I felt this was too good to pass up and splurged a little. The fans should love it, and that’s what’s important. Other random notes around wrestling saw Super Crazy the winner of CZW’s Best of the Best tournament; NWA: Wildside’s Onyx was singled out as being someone loaded with potential; and both “Classy” Freddie Blassie and Alex Wright’s father Steve Wright have retired from the business. With the WWF beyond Judgment Day, they should be starting work on their King of the Ring tournament next month. While that is always a pretty good litmus test for where Vince wants things to go for the next year, I can’t dwell on that too much, as we have our own summer blockbusters coming up in the Great American Bash and Bash at the Beach. And almost just as importantly, it’s almost time to get in contact with a certain somebody who will shore up the strong presence of a popular main event tag team in WCW… it’s about to be survey time.
  3. So many tag teams! What the hell are High Voltage doing here anyways? I'm a little surprised to see Jeff getting the cut. Perfect and Storm were guys you can see making a big splash in WCW, but 1997 Jeff Hardy? Not quite so much. Shawn Michaels - This is the first match for Shawn in what feels like a long time, he definitely doesn't drop this one. Raven - Unless you plan on shipping him to WCW as well, Raven takes the upper hand over Sid. Dean Malenko - After getting screwed out of it at IYH, Dean will be looking to put this Daniels on ice. Snow and Candido Harlem Heat Bradshaw - Rich is in the downswing, but that's only because there's such a logjam in the midcard that there's nowhere for him to go except down. Warrior and Sting - BUT WHO'S SIDE IS HE ON Buff Bagwell - I know Benoit will be the more popular choice, but seeing Buff head to the Titans can start giving him a strong push upward. No Contest - Too much hoss, not enough sell. Goldberg Eddie Guerrero No Contest - Titans come out and clear house on this jobbers match to cut a promo. Road Warriors - Dude, this match will have the least amount of selling one could ever witness in a match.
  4. <p>Scott Steiner</p><p> New Age Outlaws</p><p> Faarooq - <em>See ya down south, Curt!</em></p><p> Sean Waltman - <em>The Wolfpac really need to hang onto some gold, they're floundering a bit.</em></p><p> Dean Malenko - <em>The Ice Man Cometh.</em></p><p> No Contest - <em>With Austin rising fast and Ahmed getting a title shot at Summerslam, I just can't see putting one guy over the other.</em></p><p> Ken Shamrock</p><p> Hart Foundation</p><p> Snow and Candido - <em>You can probably do some pretty fun things with these guys and the Outlaws.</em></p>
  5. <p>Yeah, anytime I ever see "OBJECTION!" I think of Phoenix Wright.</p><p> </p><p> Judging by the state of your roster, it appears Austin's elbow injury wasn't nearly as bad as everyone assumed. That's great news! That should put us right back on track for his feud with Goldberg.</p>

  8. <p>It really is too bad to see Buff never fully get utilized in this diary to his full potential. By now it could have been! But I'm still going to say that I'm pleased seeing how things played out, and of course I look forward to seeing what comes next in the Mysterio and Guerrero and Salvation saga. Add in the Hardyz to that mixture and we should have some incredible high action matches coming very soon!</p>

WCW Friday Nitro: 5/18/2001 <iframe width="220" height="124" src=" https://www.youtube.com/embed/HT89yLl-cOA?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> WCW Friday Nitro Shown Live on May 18th, 2001 (Week 3) Held at: The Hard Rock Cafe Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada (South West) Announcers: Mike Tenay, Scott Hudson, and Arn Anderson Attendance: 2,000 people (sold out!) PPV Rating: 0.02 TV Rating: 1.08 Mike Tenay mentions that he hopes it was a great mother’s day spent with World Championship Wrestling (something I failed to mention during Envy or Eric’s after-Envy write-up was that it actually took place on the 2001 mother’s day – which I completely set up purposely like that and then forgot all about) but that it wasn’t a time for knitting or telling embarrassing stories, it was a night of intensity! We go from that lead-in to Ric Flair coming to the ring, “The Nature Boss” clearly having a lot on his mind. He says that he was told backstage that he needs to make a formal apology for his actions last night, because it was just tempers flaring and a businessman doesn’t get to just go around putting his hands on the talent. “But this is WCW! World Championship Wrestling! Tempers get hot! People get bothered! And ‘The Nature Boy’ is the man until the day I can’t walk that aisle anymore! They want apologies, get them from Scott Steiner or your mom, because I don’t regret anything! That son of a bitch deserved everything I gave him and more!” Arn Anderson’s commentary is pretty weak here as he just blatantly cheers on Ric, but Flair definitely looks good here, superbly filling the space with his dialogue. Flair is interrupted by the sirens of the Steiner Brothers, as Scott and Rick come to the ring. “Big Poppa Pump” tells Flair that he isn’t here to get apologies, he’s here to see if Flair is finally ready to be the man he claims to be by stopping all this foreplay and stepping into the ring with “The Genetic Freak” so he can beat the yella’ off his crooked damn teeth! Scott is working the crowd so well during this, he comes out of this well. Flair barely holds himself back, but says that if Steiner wants action, then he and his brother can come out here for a tag match in the main event! This got the show off to a great start, the crowd is really hot after these two traded words. (A* / 99) Konnan joins “Rey-Rey” and Tygress in the ring after the match, and the two say that they would have been fine to not be the Filthy Animals anymore but still stand together as friends, but Kidman threw that aside by attacking them! They don’t know what’s gotten into his head, but he’s gone loco as far as they can tell. <iframe width="200" height="180" src=" https://www.youtube.com/embed/jxlGtcW1Qg8?rel=0&showinfo=0" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe> The lights dim except for a spotlight on the ring and the big screen coming to life with the scene of Dark Eden! Vampiro says that sin runs rampant in WCW, but yet another soul has come to see that truth lies in the Dark Eden. “Kidman no longer follows with your sinful ways as a bunch of mangy animals, he has bettered himself into a grand new plateau. Yet another lamb has come to us, seeking the deliverance that he has always deserved. But the three of you stand, spinning your wheels, never moving beyond your borders. You remain sinners, animals, and if you don’t move aside, we will treat you as the sacrificial beasts that you are.” Rey and Konnan answer that Vampiro can say whatever he wants, but it takes more than a few flowery words to make them trade in their friendship. Daffney laughs at them, saying that they’ve only traded in their friendship about three or four times just since 1996, but who’s counting? She also adds “Hey! I’m getting better at my gimmick! Yay!” Kidman takes over, saying that the split of the Animals had been coming for a long time now, Rey and Konnan were just too dense to see it. He tells them that their “great friendship” is going to continue holding them back until they go it their own. He says that they forced him to seek out Vampiro, because without this new guidance, he would have been stuck in their miserable vehicle for the rest of his career. Kidman says that he did what he did because he wants the X Division title, and taking it from Rey will be only sweeter because once he holds it, it will prove that Mysterio would have kept holding him back indefinitely. Vampiro calls the two selfish, and points out that if Rey wasn’t selfish, then maybe Konnan would be able to get a title shot from Rey. The screen goes to black as the spotlight on the ring turns to red, as Konnan and Mysterio start looking at one another tensely. The crowd get even hotter from this cerebral segment. (C+) “Mean” Gene and Jeremy are backstage at the interview podium, where Okerlund shills that his “Mean Scoops” article on WCW.com has information about a popular female in wrestling who’s contract is coming to an end soon. He points out that Jeremy has been helping him type it, and thanks to Borash, he’s finally found out what the “esc” key does! In more serious news, he brings Ric Flair into the scene, and Flair is just as warmed up as he was when we saw him earlier. He says that he is the man and will forever be the man, and he knows what is brewing for him in the boardrooms for doing this but right now he doesn’t care. He rips off his jacket and tie and throws them on the ground, saying “Damn the suits! Damn the consequences! Damn the boardrooms! At the Great American Bash, on Father’s Day, in Baltimore, Maryland, in one of the houses that Ric Flair built, as CEO of the company I am signing a match between Scott Steiner and myself for the only prize worth anything in this business, the World’s Heavyweight title!” Flair is having a great performance here as he says that sixteen is sweet, but seventeen is better, and he isn’t planning on just humiliating Steiner, he will beat him until he screams! Gene works the crowd well here, but against the backdrop of Ric Flair he just looks lost. Arn and Hudson also come off weak, as the announcers debate what this will mean for the future of WCW. But good lord did it get the crowd red hot! (B+) <iframe width="220" height="180" src=" https://www.youtube.com/embed/94J_Hsuc1a8?rel=0&showinfo=0" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe> “The Franchise” Shane Douglas comes to the ring and takes up a microphone, telling the sound guys to cut his music. He says that for years in professional wrestling, it has always been about the guys on top, and once those guys are on top there is always some younger star looking to take his place on that top. Shane says that for years he was always that “young pup” trying to get top the top, but now apparently he is the one at the top, but he’s going to make sure that he gets his chance before some “young punk” tries to leapfrog him like this kid AJ Styles. <iframe width="220" height="180" src=" https://www.youtube.com/embed/Ty3GAF8I8jc?rel=0&showinfo=0" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe> The namedrop brings out Styles himself, who is coming to the ring to face Shane tonight. AJ says that he planned to be respectful, of course wanting to make it big in WCW, but he didn’t intend on stepping on anyone’s toes. But Douglas has targeted him for some reason, feeling like he’s the embodiment of why Shane never made it as big as he wanted to, when he needs to look in the mirror for his problems – but you’ll also see in that mirror the failure in defeating AJ Styles, because while Shane can call him a young punk, all he’s proving is that he’s an old punk who needs to step aside or prepare for a Styles Clash! Shane laughs, then tells him to bring it on kid, because once he gets his ass Franchised maybe he’ll learn his place! © General Rection comes to the ring to address what happened last Sunday at Envy. He tells everyone that sadly, he had put his Misfits in Action colors on the line in the Envy match, but he didn’t win. He says that means he can no longer be General Rection, which makes him feel like he let all of his fans down. This brings out The Problem Solvers, with Simon Diamond saying that he has a problem. He tells Hugh that he should have listened to them and accepted their help, because they would have ensured that he won the match, but he had to find out the hard way that he just couldn’t cut it on his own. Now that he’s turned them down repeatedly, it seems there is no help for him – so Simon says they’re going to help themselves in taking him out of wrestling! They start to move toward the ring, but from out of the back comes KroniK! They stand at the back of the Problem Solvers, blocking them in as Hugh tells them that he isn’t about to let them dictate who does what, because he plans on sticking around for some time yet! The odds being even makes Simon tell his men that he has other things to do, and they run off! Kronik’s performance here was fantastic, making Simon and Disqo seem very underwhelming in comparison. Arn Anderson and Scott Hudson came off pretty weak on commentary, but the crowd got hotter thanks to this segment. © “Mean” Gene with Jeremy at his heels comes out to the stage, with Okerlund telling Borash that “This is the big time now, the live interview. Watch and learn how it’s done.” They really are a good pair. He brings out his guests right now, two guys who were successful at Envy last Sunday night, Totally Buff. Luger, Bagwell, and Madusa come to the entrance and laugh at Kevin Nash for thinking he could take on two ripped, muscular, sturdy, young, virile men such as themselves all by himself. Luger’s performance here is good, with Madusa helping him a lot. Gene underperforms though, falling into the background as he asks them what their plans are in the future if they feel they are done with Nash. Bagwell says that it’s been too long since either of them had some gold adorning their chiseled waists, so maybe they should pick up the Tag Team titles. They start to talk and pose more, but out comes the Natural Born Thrillers! O’Haire handles some actual dialogue for a change rather than just standing around looking mean, telling the two that while they respect Totally Buff as veterans of the business, if they start something with the Thrillers, they will end them! And if they think they can take the titles away from the Thrillers, then they can try it tonight! He mentions that they’ve gotten a little sidetracked with their battles against Lance Storm and The World, but they are still fighting champions, so they can face them later tonight! Sean is showing some better performance here, he held his own very well with the stars here. Gene says that it looks like we have a match for the World Tag Team titles tonight! (B) The show has reached it’s halfway point and you know what that means, it’s WCW Panel time! Tony Schiavone introduces Gene Okerlund, Jeremy Borash, Chris Lovey, and Stevie Ray, and says that we are only five days removed from WCW Envy and already the stakes are getting bigger and hotter for World Championship Wrestling! He says that we will have to wait for next week to find out if Ric Flair, as CEO of the company, can even place himself into a World championship match against Scott Steiner. They also tell people to keep watching tonight to see a World Tag Team title match, and that Goldberg will be in action as well. Stevie Ray also says that next week we will be hearing from his brother, Booker T, who plans to address The World in the center of the ring. (C, B-) Animal marches to the ring and he’s in a very foul mood. He says that Sting was saved by an official last Sunday, because obviously he’s WCW’s golden boy and so they didn’t want Animal to ugly him up too much. “They know that if I get to just have my way with Sting, then he’ll have to take the rest of the year off again!” He says that he wants Sting in the ring again, and hopefully they’ll get an unbiased official who WCW aren’t going to pay off to protect their favorite son from the beating he deserves! The voice of Sting calls out to Animal, and cameras see that “The Stinger” is actually in the building tonight, up in the rafters! He says that Animal has been doing a lot of talking about him, but when they got in the ring, Sting found all that he needed to – that Animal, while still big and strong, has become a threat to himself and others. He says that the two of them used to be friends, and he felt they could have worked this out, but that seems to be out the window! Sting says that he is planning to personally reach out to Eric Bischoff or Ric Flair or whoever it is he needs to talk to, and he will get Animal in another match, and when he does, it won’t be any cheap disqualification; it’ll be showtime! (B+) Another hype video airs next for the incoming debut of exciting young wrestler Low-Ki. He is shown training, kicking a heavy bag and using some martial arts kicks on other wrestlers in a gym. Low-Ki is coming soon! (D) <iframe width="220" height="180" src=" https://www.youtube.com/embed/M9udAirjw3U?rel=0&controls=0&showinfo=0" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe> The fireworks are going off in the ring as security are seen backstage leading out “Da Man” Goldberg! He is looking to get 94-0 tonight, with Tenay noting that he is facing the man he got his very first victory in WCW against. Will he continue his streak or will tonight end it all? (B) <iframe width="220" height="180" src=" https://www.youtube.com/embed/jxlGtcW1Qg8?rel=0&controls=0&showinfo=0" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe> The lights of the arena go dim again, this time with sinister music playing, as Vampiro, Daffney, Kidman, and Kanyon appear on the big screen. Vampiro welcomes everyone to Dark Eden, telling viewers not to change their screens as this is the only time you’ll have all week to absolve yourself of your sinful natures. He says that Daffney, Kanyon, and Kidman have seen the errors of their ways, that they needed to rise above their previous lot in life to achieve their goals and dreams. Vampiro smiles evilly, remarking that the sinners such as Crowbar, Rey Mysterio Jr., and Konnan have always tried to control what these people were doing, but they saw the light. Kidman chimes in to mention how Rey and Konnan are still blinded by their ways, that neither of them want to know who the better man is, and they compensate for it by never truly going toe-to-toe, never having an argument when both of them are so jealous of one another. Compared to Vampiro, Kidman is just underwhelming here, and Daffney underperforms here by just sitting in the corner spinning her pigtails and giggling. Vampiro takes back over, saying that one is jealous of the other’s championships, saying Konnan has never had success in WCW like Mysterio has; while Mysterio didn’t have the same level of mainstream appeal as Konnan, who was in television shows and was a marketable dream. But they never mention these things, because it would cause them to fall apart. Vampiro says “Well I mention it, the cat is out of the bag. They will never be able to put it back in there. And that’s why we propose a simple match, an easy solution. Kidman isn’t a greedy man, he has found his enlightenment, so he can share in his spotlight, especially when it will only shine upon him in the end. He wants to take on not just Rey Mysterio Jr., but Konnan as well, in a triple threat match for the X Division championship at the Great American Bash!” He tells the former Filthy Animals to accept his match and find their deliverance in Dark Eden! Vampiro really worked the crowd well during this segment, as Tenay says that we will find out soon if Mysterio and Konnan will accept this match! (B-) Chris Lovey is backstage in the locker room as he says that he was handed a huge scoop, that Ric Flair’s opponents for tonight’s main event are behind this very door! He opens it to find Sid Vicious and “The Prodigal Son” Dustin Rhodes standing there discussing strategy! Chris gets a little too much excitement going on here, looking just dreadful. He asks the two to make sure they are in the main event, and they agree that they are the team who will take on the Steiner Brothers tonight. Rhodes says that he wants his chance to take on Scott Steiner for the World title, and tonight’s match should get him both a step closer to that and a chance to hogtie Rick like the little bitch he is! Dustin seems to be getting better at his gimmick, even if it is still rated pretty badly. Sid says that it feels like the world are against him, but whether it’s Lance Storm and Mike Awesome and their merry band of morons or Rick and Scott Steiner, they’ll all find that there can only be one true master and ruler of the world! (B-) It’s nearly time for the main event, but first we go backstage to the dressing room of the Steiner Brothers where Midajah is seen filing her nails. Rick and Scott are talking to the camera, with “Big Poppa Pump” saying that it’s about damn time Ric Flair decided to be a man instead of hiding behind some goofy looking suit! Rick says that he’s so, so, so happy to see that there are some balls in WCW, saying that he wants to get Dustin Rhodes in the ring to take “The Prodigal Son” and slap him so hard he wants to wear makeup again. “The DFG” adds that Sid already had his chance and blew it every time, and he will get suplexed no matter how big he is. Scott Steiner is a real star here with some great, masterful improvising, as he tells Flair that he has until next Friday night, next week’s Nitro, to decide if he has some mustard in those old, wrinkly balls of his, to throw down that stupid suit, probably elbow drop it or knee drop it because it’s the only thing he can beat in the ring anymore, watch tonight’s match, hell watch any of the matches Scott has had this year, and determine just how much he wants to die – and then next week, sign the contract, or do the smart thing, and walk away! (B+) David Penzer is in the ring, and it is time for our main event! <iframe width="220" height="180" src=" https://www.youtube.com/embed/Q_dv4RFHa3Q?rel=0&controls=0" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe> “The Prodigal Son” Dustin Rhodes steps through the curtain first, finishing up taping his hands as he walks slowly towards the ring for this big encounter. Tenay mentions that Dustin told him how big a loss he felt at Envy for losing his father’s prize cowboy boots in the Envy match, and that perhaps defeating one of the Steiners here tonight could be seen as retribution to make up for that loss. <iframe width="220" height="180" src=" https://www.youtube.com/embed/bDkz4tD8-PQ?rel=0&controls=0" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe> He’s been called a psycho, he’s been out for justice, and he’s been “The Millennium Man”, but one thing you can definitely call Sid Vicious is dangerous! Scott Hudson says that Vicious may have lost at Envy to Mike Awesome, but his battle against The World isn’t over by a long shot; but he is taking a detour tonight in order to silence Scott Steiner. <iframe width="220" height="180" src=" https://www.youtube.com/embed/uZITiFfFlPM?rel=0&controls=0" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe> The sirens scream over the arena as Midajah leads Rick and Scott, The Steiner Brothers, out of the backstage area! “Big Poppa Pump” looks like a real star here, flexing in front of the camera as Arn Anderson is completely disgusted by Scott and what he did at Envy to one of his best friends, Tully Blanchard. Arn says that Ric Flair has a lot to think about, but he’s sure Ric will make the right choice. Everyone is in the ring (causing poor little David to just look completely dwarfed and lost) and the bell sounds, it’s time for our main event! (B) Show Rating: B+ This show increased our popularity in 38 regions.

So alongside all the incredible diary that TFC writes, I think I've most learned from this thread that smartman doesn't much care for our Mod Squad mods <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />
  12. War Games winner: CM Punk - He hasn't gotten a title shot yet, and the feud between he and Salvation could be pretty fun. War Games loser: Alexander RVD - It feels like it's about time for AJ to move up to the big leagues, possible SHC winner this year? Robby Boode - Matt is denied his revenge. Just don't break him or wake him, no matter how close we are to September ending. Bryan Danielson - Knoble has to be viewed as a super contender right now, but he did have a part in Austin being out for we don't know how long yet, so Bryan retains in a solid match. Sean O'Haire - Palumbo is a pawn in the rebranding of O'Haire. Steiner Brothers - You're putting me in a box here TFC, it's both of my favorite parts of your diary in one match! 18. <p>“Envy”ous Week 2 Recap</p><p> </p><p> <span style="color:#0000FF;"><span style="text-decoration:underline;">From the desk of Eric Bischoff:</span></span></p><p> The biggest news from this past week that hit the internet was that Chyna finally got fed up and asked for her release from the WWF. From her interview, Vince McMahon himself had been forcing discontent between her and some unnamed high ranking officials in the company, and when he wasn’t doing that they were ribbing her on nearly every show. Now, I would have been happy to throw a contract her way to let her come live on Nitro and air all these things out, but get this: her release wasn’t granted. She is being forcefully locked into finishing her contract out. No word on what this will mean for the WWF’s Women’s title.</p><p> </p><p> Mick Foley released his second book, Foley is Good. It has followed in its predecessor’s footsteps, becoming a number one non-fiction book on the New York Times best sellers list. Mick and I may have had a bit of a falling out in 1994 and from his book it sounded like he held the whole “butts in seats” line against me yet, but all in all I’m glad to see him find some success. He appeared this past week on Raw and SmackDown to promote the book releasing.</p><p> </p><p> Some pictures surfaced of Davey Boy Smith, who is currently out of wrestling and sitting in rehab. He is starting to look a little flabby, which may be a product of him getting off the juice he was on all through the 90s. I also saw a few shots of Juventud Guerrera from a match at XPW Deadlock. He’s looking more muscular. It’s too bad he can be such a headache, because I think he would be great to beef up the new X-Division. Maybe in the future. The distant future.</p><p> </p><p> Backstage at Nitro, Paul Orndorff was showing proteges Sean O’Haire, Mark Jindrak, and Yang some tips on (respectively) being a better heel, a better face, and having better in-ring psychology. Now this one was some of my own doing, but a strong friendship has developed between Chavo Guerrero Jr. and Rey Mysterio Jr. It sparked over them sharing some stories of Eddie Guerrero, and they got along with it over the whole course of the night before agreeing to start traveling together. That should be better for our backstage, so I’m glad. I took note that Mike Tenay is starting to look a little less skinny. That middle age spread really is starting to hit the roster. Also, Booker T is looking more muscular, which is good because that should make him look more like a star.</p><p> </p><p> After the show, I heard Ric Flair saying that Vampiro was clumsy in the ring and Jeff Jarrett told me he feels Mark Jindrak can’t sell worth a damn.</p><p> </p><p> Reports came back that during a pre-show match on Raw, Jerry Lynn broke his ankle doing one of his common high risk moves. Lynn is the current holder of the WWF Light Heavyweight title and now he’s going to be out for a few months. Is Vince even going to notice?</p><p> </p><p> Envy was a pretty strong show, but if someone were to just call it a three hour Nitro, I wouldn’t hold it against them. “Mr. Wonderful” showed some more tips on being a face to Mark Jindrak and Yang and on being a heel to Sean O’Haire, proving that he’s probably the best mentor we have in WCW. The bad part of the night was that Scott Steiner was running around all night making rumors about Dustin Rhodes being gay. I don’t even know where this one came from, but Scott seemed pretty adamant about it. I told him to knock it off, giving him a slap on the wrist. Nothing came of it, but this is the second rumor that was getting started lately and I don’t want to see it start to become a fad.</p><p> </p><p> Sid gave me quite the earful about putting Mike Awesome over cleanly. The thing is, I am looking at Sid’s contract being up for renewal pretty soon, and just in case I don’t get to keep him (because I’ll be damned if I’m going to offer him the same money that he’s making now!) then I wanted to make sure to give Awesome this huge victory. But Vicious, of course, didn’t see things my way; at least he did the job that I told him to do.</p><p> </p><p> I heard Scott Steiner and Kevin Nash talking about Shane Helms and Kaz Hayashi after the show, saying that these “two midget punks” won’t ever connect with the crowd. I praised Scott for getting such a great main event out of a long since retired wrestler. He was happy about it, beaming like a huge silverback ape. I also complimented Ric Flair again, saying that his acting in the storyline so far and what is to come has been incredible. He too was pleased at this. In order to try to appease him, I also pointed out Sid as a good example for putting over the younger talent of tomorrow. He seemed pleased with my words, but I could tell he’s still pretty annoyed.</p><p> </p><p> On Nitro, we set up Lance Storm to have a new gimmick of “Arch Competitor” which should play off how damn good he really is. Hopefully this will help him to get over the hump of the midcard, which is where I was feeling he might have remained if we simply kept up the whole “Team Canada” bit. It came off very well, above average, if I would dare say, and then twice during Envy we saw him getting better at it. Not quite so well received was the new “Redneck” gimmick for Jamie Knoble. We thought playing up that he and Kid Kash are both from the Virginias would be a nice team up to take on Chavo and Kaz, and especially with this new craze with people enjoying this new Joe Dirt movie, with Knoble turning it into more of a full change. Had we been in Georgia, maybe it would have played out better, but in New Mexico and Las Vegas, it just felt below average. We will stick with it and see how it goes, because I feel like he can play the character off, but for the short-term it is only going to hamper him.</p><p> </p><p> I also saw a report on the second annual Mark Curtis Weekend of Champions tribute show, which went very well. Nobody from WCW was able to go to it because it was held on Friday in Florida, while all of our guys were in Vegas that night.</p><p> </p><p> One final note, it seems that legends Lou Thesz, Jose Lothario, Jimmy Valiant, and Bob Backlund are all gearing up to retire in three months.</p>

  21. <p>World Championship Wrestling presents WCW Envy</p><p> </p><p> As we saw with Pride last month, the opening video is narrated by Vampiro, who is lit inside a dark room by three candles now; one standing for greed, one for pride, and now one for envy. It shows images of Scott Steiner, Ric Flair, Tully Blanchard, Totally Buff, Kevin Nash, Sting, and Animal, as those are the three biggest matches of the evening. <strong>“Desire. Jealousy. Want. All these things describe something that lies dormant inside each and every person who is, was, or ever will be. No one is ever content with their position in life in comparison to those around them. And when that vile ‘green eyed monster’ rears its head, some of the worst sins can be committed. The sins of the heart beckon to those weak enough to fall prey to its siren call; but who will be Cain and who will be Abel by the time this story ends?”</strong> Vampiro blows out his candles, and the video ends as it fades into the Godsmack song that was licensed for the pay-per-view! (B)</p><p> </p><p> As the song plays over the arena, we go inside the sold out Pan American Center for a grand fireworks display as Mike Tenay, Scott Hudson, and “Double A” Arn Anderson welcome us to WCW Envy! They discuss some of our matches that we will be seeing tonight, but they say that the biggest one of the evening being the WCW World’s Heavyweight championship match, a match that is months in the making as “Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner defends against a man coming out of retirement for perhaps one final ride, Tully Blanchard! To each of their credit, both men stay true to their word and leave their backup in the back (save for Tygress) so it is a fair one-on-one contest. Konnan certainly does get loud crowd reactions and that makes this match look bigger than it does. Let’s face it, it certainly hasn’t been much of a “war” between the Filthy Animals against Jarrett and the Harris Boys, but you could call this a “strong skirmish” that had been brewing between the two groups.</p><p> </p><p> Jarrett pulls out all the heel tactics in his arsenal, but Konnan, having been around the block himself, tends to have an answer for each trick Jarrett has up his sleeve. This forces Jeff into a straight up wrestling match, but he is also very good at that. “K-Dawg” isn’t (and, for that matter, in WCW never really was) much of a big deal, but he holds his own against Jeff by rallying the crowd behind him and getting numerous near-falls that almost put some gold back in his hands. This sets Jarrett off, his facial expressions clearly showing how close he knows that was. With that in mind, he goes to his trusty “Acoustic Equalizer” for help. Tygress grabs it however, leading to a tug of war that Jarrett wins by pulling her into the ring. In doing so, Scott James gets the guitar and disposes of it before he starts trying to get Tygress out of the ring. In the chaos, Jarrett kicks a low blow on Konnan before hitting the Stroke for the victory.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Match Time: 11:45</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em> Notes: Jarrett was really off his game and Tygress did some good work at ringside. Gene says that his guests at this time have some big matches tonight, asking for some thoughts from them. Scott screams that Jeremy is <em>“standing in my light and keeping the freaks from seeing the peaks”</em> and shoves him out of frame. Gene looks briefly concerned as we hear Borash fall over something off-camera, but the self-proclaimed “Freakzilla” has no time for that as he forcefully pulls Okerlund’s microphone back toward himself. He says that Scott Steiner knows all about dealing with big things, just like the freaks he was with found out last night. <em>“But this ain’t no big match. It’s some old yella’ toothed sumbitch who used to be somethin’. But he wasn’t nuthin’. Never was nuthin’ and never will be nuthin’. Scratch that, he’s gonna be somethin’ tonight – he’ll be a grease spot on the mat.”</em> Rick says that you can add five more broken bodies to the count because once he’s done in the Envy match, he’s gonna have some new trinkets and a contract for a title match in his pocket. Scott warns everyone that the Steiner Brothers are the best WCW has to offer, so tonight they show their dominance – <em>“and that includes the freaks in the hotel after I’m done kickin’ gramp’s ass!”</em> Scott and Rick leave as Gene checks on Jeremy, who had fallen over a lighting rig. Okerlund tells him that he has to watch where he’s going around the Steiners, with Borash jotting it down in his notebook for later.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Notes: Gene and Jeremy remain a good pairing. This keeps Douglas on his toes, giving Mysterio the element of surprise and allowing him to do some early damage to Shane; but this match is a walk instead of a sprint, as it requires a ten count to win rather than just a flashy pinning combination. Arn tries to put this over as a brutal bout, feeling that Douglas has the advantage overall because his offense tends to be more toward putting someone down rather than how Mysterio’s cruiserweight style isn’t as harmful, it’s more about winning a match than hurting your opponent. Despite how badly that came out, this becomes some of the story of the match, as Shane starts brutally hammering Mysterio following a low blow. He hits a chopblock and then locks a figure four leglock on Rey in order to accentuate the work he did on the knee previously.</p><p> </p><p> The match spills outside as Rey is hurled out under the bottom rope, resulting in a bad landing flat on his stomach. Mike Tenay points out that this match doesn’t have to end in the ring, as Shane hits a baseball slide and heads out to meet Mysterio. They begin a fight through the sold out crowd of the Pan American Center, who start chanting “ECW!” at this. Shane hammers Rey over the head and back with a steel chair, but Mysterio is able to get back up by the count of seven. Douglas is just all over Rey until they get near a (planted) merchandise booth, where Mysterio is able to fight back with his own steel chair shots. He nails Douglas with the chair a few times before playing to the crowd, but Douglas delivers a drop toe hold that gives him Rey’s leg, which he slams into the concrete floor! Shane starts gloating that he’s going to be the next champion, when someone sticks their head out from under the merchandise booth – and the person vaults over the desk in the booth to hit Douglas with a forearm smash! The person’s hat comes off, and it’s AJ Styles!</p><p> </p><p> Styles comes out of his shell, stomping and punching Douglas, before throwing him into steel barricade and then hitting a rolling kick that dazes Shane. The groggy “Franchise” staggers forward, trying to gain his bearings, but that’s when Mysterio has his wits back to him, and he leaps off the top of the merchandise stand to land on Douglas with a seated senton! Douglas crashes hard on the floor, and Mysterio is down as well! Mark Johnson is delivering the count as Styles (who had backed away but didn’t leave) is leading the crowd in cheering for Rey to get to his feet. Both men start to stir, but while Rey is able to make it up, Douglas falls back to the floor! The ten count is registered, and Mysterio retains the championship! It looks like it’s back to the drawing board for “The Franchise” as he is out of the running for the X-Division title!</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Match Time: 17:59</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em> Notes: This match left the crowd buzzing afterwards. Borash goes a little too far in showing Tully that he’s a huge fan of him and is worried, performing poorly in the segment, but Gene reels it back by asking Blanchard why, at his age and how many years he’s been out of the ring, is he risking his body tonight? Blanchard says that he has been sitting and watching Steiner bully everyone who stands near him. He feels that someone needs to step in and teach Steiner some respect, some of the respect that he used to have before he shaved his hair and bleached it blonde. If he doesn’t stand up for everyone, he’d not be able to look his kids in the eyes as a man ever again. He says that he may not win, but Scott will remember who he is by the time he’s done. ©</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="8CcQwCr.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/8CcQwCr.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="BrQnKun.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/BrQnKun.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="AMpr25U.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/AMpr25U.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> We go elsewhere into the darkened room of Vampiro, where Daffney and Kanyon are kneeling at the sides of the standing Vampiro. Vampiro talks about how envy drives all the stars of WCW, and he plans to bring yet another into the fold tonight while Kanyon does his job to take down the myth of Goldberg. Daffney breaks her silence, saying that “Kanyon doing the job” is a bad choice of phrase, and laughs loudly until Vampiro places his head on top of her head. He welcomes all who sin to find their redemption at the altar of the Dark Eden. Vampiro didn’t do very well tonight without a script, but Daffney looks better at her gimmick despite not coming out of this very well (she’s way less over than the other two). Neither man has the size or strength advantage compared to the other, but the younger, more agile Awesome gets the better of Sid in quite a few occasions. He hits a plancha that Sid has no answer for, but when Vicious does do damage it is with some very brutal looking punches and kicks that do a good job of dazing Awesome. A sidewalk slam puts Awesome on the mat and Sid goes after the tables. He sets one up on the outside as well as sending one into the ring.</p><p> </p><p> Mike tries to turn the tide back his way with a big chairshot off the top rope, but Sid catches him and plants him with a one handed chokeslam. Vicious sets up the table, but Mike doesn’t let him set up a powerbomb. Mike comes back into the match with a german suplex and tries to set up an Awesome Bomb, but Sid fights out. He starts hitting Awesome with all he has, as Tenay starts saying that it looks like Vicious wants to send Awesome out of the ring through the table on the floor. But when Sid goes for a running big boot, Awesome catches him, lifts Sid slightly off the ground, and tackles him down through the table in the ring! It wasn’t exactly an Awesome Bomb, but the table shatters under the weight of the two behemoths, and this match is over! Hudson points out that there was no interference and no shady tactics; Mike Awesome just defeated Sid Vicious.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Match Time: 8:46</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em> Notes: Tenay and Hudson showed their good chemistry announcing together. All six men, all six with something to lose and something to gain, gather together in order to win one of the biggest prizes you can: a guaranteed contract for a championship bout. Mike Tenay points out that it doesn’t say “World” championship, you can go after any title you want, but you will have this championship contract in your back pocket regardless of choice. Rhodes and Steiner have some unfinished business to settle after the brawls they have been having on Nitro, so they seem to rush one another and stay to themselves for a good portion of the match. Lance Storm has endeared himself to no one except for his followers, so he is bounced around by anyone who gets close enough. The wildcard is Kidman, who has no allegiance or real enemy in this match, so he takes on anyone who is near enough for him to take down while spending his other time bringing the ladder into the ring. Even though it’s not really necessary in a “spot-show” type of match like a ladder match, Kidman and O’Haire actually show that they’ve been beefing up their technical skills as well.</p><p> </p><p> General Rection has just finished planting Storm with a release powerbomb when he begins making a go for the ladder that Billy had finally set up in the center of the ring. He just barely has his feet off the ground when Kidman appears and drags him back down to knock him away with a dropkick. Storm brings Kidman back down from the ladder with a belly to back suplex, but O’Haire stops Lance’s momentum very abruptly with a crucifix powerbomb! But when Sean turns back around, Rick Steiner is right there to blast him with a Steinerline, proving that there can always be someone bigger and badder around the bend. They all go into a frantic melee of spots on one another, some of those spots looking more intricate and contrived than others, but it culminates in Hugh doing a moonsault from the turnbuckle to the outside of the ring on top of the five other men in the match!</p><p> </p><p> As the match winds down, all six are growing weary, so each man tries what could be his last bid for the contract. Rick hits his Steiner Driver on Hugh, which essentially takes him out of the equation as Steiner begins climbing. O’Haire bounds up the other side of the ladder however, meeting Rick right at the top with a fist to the face. Dustin comes from their side and shoves the ladder down, taking both men out before starting to set it up himself – but no, Storm hits him with a superkick to the back of the ear! The smack echoes throughout the entire Pan American Center (and perhaps even outside into Las Cruces!) as Rhodes crumples to the mat. Kidman looks like the last hope to keep Storm from getting the contract, but Lance is able to shove him aside as well. But out of left field comes Sean O’Haire, who has his own issues to settle with Storm, and the two duke it out atop a ladder! But an unexpected party seems to have his own ideas… </p><p> </p><p> One german suplex off the back end of the ladder later, and Lance Storm is the last one standing! What is Alex Wright even doing here?! To an incredibly massive chorus of jeers and boos from the crowd, Lance reaches up and unhooks the contract, punching the potential golden ticket to a championship bout in his future.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Match Time: 17:45</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em> Notes: This was booked to have a slow build, but everyone struggled with the psychology of it. He seems like this should be a foregone conclusion now, a great night for The World. While one can’t say that he didn’t hold his own in the match, showing that he has been improving his performance skills as of late as he zeroes in and targets the shoulder that has been getting nagged by Lance Storm for the past two months, let’s face it, this match is what it always has been: a match that was booked just to give Booker a win on the pay-per-view. And that’s exactly what happens, as Booker blocks an attempt at the fisherman suplex and fights back. He has trouble hooking the Book End with his weakened shoulder, but the Axe Kick has no such issue, as he puts Stasiak away in just under nine minutes.</p><p> </p><p> Booker’s night isn’t quite over yet though, as he is immediately blasted from behind by Lance Storm! A superkick puts the three time World champion down on the mat, and the rest of The World seem to be right on Storm’s heels as they start putting the boots to the downed Booker. Storm hooks on the armbar submission again, doing more damage to Booker’s arm and shoulder all over again, while Mike Awesome is setting up a table. Elix Skipper and Alex Wright gleefully join in on the attack as well, and all looks like Booker is about to take a pretty rough ride… </p><p> </p><p> But his saviors come in the form of Sean O’Haire and big Sid Vicious! Together the two massive men swat Elix and Alex away easily, before delivering clotheslines that send Awesome and Stasiak over the top rope and out of the ring! Lance Storm knows when he’s outnumbered, and he slinks away out the back door as O’Haire, Vicious, and trainers start to check on Booker.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Match Time: 8:58</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em> Notes: Tenay’s announcing lifted this bout. Stevie is pretty upset about the attack that Booker T just suffered from, saying that <em>“dem fruit bootys gonna find what’s what when it’s on like neckbone”</em> Jeff Jarrett and Rey Mysterio Jr. have retained their titles, but the big one is still coming later tonight. Borash and Lovey of course aren’t very experienced yet compared to their contemporaries so they don’t come out of this well, but it’s time to head back to the ring and David Penzer! ©</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43111" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><hr><details><summary></p><span>http://i.imgur.com/PLFbwG7.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/Uk8UtOC.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/o9HKxZh.jpg</span><p> <strong>Sting vs. Animal</strong></summary></p><p> <em><span style="font-size:8px;">Announced Time Limit: 45:00</span></em></p><p><em><span style="font-size:8px;"> Official: Scott James</span></em></p><p><em><span style="font-size:8px;"> Ringside: None</span></em></p><p> </p><p> Two painted warriors who know one another like the back of their hands go to battle with one another next at Envy. Their bout is kept fairly simple, just telling a nice story. Sting sticks and moves, not wanting to get caught by the furious and powerful Animal, while the former Road Warrior waits for his opening to strike. Strike he does, as he finally catches Sting going for a Stinger Splash a little too early on and makes him pay for it with a Stungun onto the top turnbuckle pad.</p><p> </p><p> Animal uses his brute strength to keep Sting forced onto the mat, but the fans stay solidly behind the man known as “The Franchise of WCW”. Animal finally loses his cool at not being able to put Sting away, and he simply shoves Sting into the corner and starts beating on him with closed fists and kicks. Scott James tries to tell Animal to stop this, but he shoves James away in anger! Scott tries to let this slide, but when Animal does it again, he calls for the bell, disqualifying him!</p><p> </p><p> Animal grows even more incensed after this, now grabbing James by his referee’s shirt and pushing him into the corner to yell at him! He calls this “a load of horseshit!” and continually screaming at him “don’t you know who I am?!” Scott finally gets a saving grace as Sting comes in and starts punching, chopping, and kicking Animal away, culminating in a big Stinger Splash! Doug Dillinger and his security team arrive on the scene finally, and they start breaking the men up as Animal keeps screaming obscenities toward Sting and Scott James. This one doesn’t seem to be over, but for today, Sting’s hand is raised in victory – albeit a disqualification.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Match Time: 8:44</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em> Notes: The announcing lifted this match that got the crowd hotter.</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em> Rating: C+ / B-</em></span></p></div><p></p><p><hr></details></p></div><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/TVeq0Hh.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> We head backstage, where a sad General Rection sits on a bench in the dressing room. But Gene tells Ric that he’s known him for so many years that he can hear the waver in Ric’s boisterous voice, and that makes Flair drop the facade and say that all in all, he’s worried for Tully and his family, saying that he had all the kids together a few days ago and “seeing little Tess and my sweet Ashley playing together” just makes Ric more worried for tonight. This was a short segment, but Gene enjoyed the freedom to be off-script with Ric. When Flair leaves, Gene notices Borash getting a little teary-eyed at the thought of the legendary Horsemen, but Okerlund puts an arm around him and sends us back to the ring while he deals with “this wet blanket here.” (B)</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43111" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><hr><details><summary></p><span>http://i.imgur.com/7qAgwif.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/Uk8UtOC.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/SDaEctv.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/UDcdLVe.jpg</span><p> <strong>“Big Sexy” Kevin Nash vs. Totally Buff</strong></summary></p><p> <em><span style="font-size:8px;">Announced Time Limit: 45:00</span></em></p><p><em><span style="font-size:8px;"> Official: Nick Patrick</span></em></p><p><em><span style="font-size:8px;"> Ringside: Madusa (Totally Buff)</span></em></p><p> </p><p> This match has been building up ever since The Big Bang back in April, and Kevin Nash seems ready to destroy tonight as he walks to the ring with a stern look on his face. This isn’t tornado style, Totally Buff do have to at least tag in and out, so when the bell sounds, Nash runs past Luger and delivers a big boot to Bagwell, knocking him off the apron, before attacking Luger with punches and slams! Kevin seems to have a solid game plan, keeping Buff away and assaulting Lex. But it doesn’t take long before this strategy runs into a roadblock; that being that two men will always outnumber one. Kevin shows that he is definitely improving his performance skills. It doesn’t take long for Nash to misstep, and Luger nails him with a running forearm smash. From there it is all Totally Buff, as they tag in and out rapidly, and this match ends with a version of the Doomsday Blockbuster where Luger lifted Nash with a belly to back suplex while Buff delivers the Blockbuster. But Rey points out that just because they aren’t officially teaming in WCW as the Animals anymore, doesn’t mean they aren’t all still friends and can still party and watch one another’s backs! “K-Dawg” is all for that, saying that nothing can break the bonds of the Animals, the <em>familia</em> that easily, as he and Rey join fists. They look to Kidman to join the gesture as well, but… he doesn’t. Instead, he starts to leave the room. But when he opens the door, he sees Vampiro’s reflection in a window. Billy closes the door behind him, with Konnan and Rey following after him – but the door swings back open, Kidman hitting Rey in the face with the door and attacking both men brutally! He picks up a chair and starts beating them even more! Finally the lights flicker out, and when they come back on, the whole room has been the victim of a blood bath! Midajah starts to talk trash to Tully, but Blanchard’s eyes never leave his opponent, and when the theatrics are all done, it’s time for the match to begin! ©</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43111" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><hr><details><summary></p><span>http://i.imgur.com/vVQclRt.jpg?1</span><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/C4RidzV.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/Uk8UtOC.jpg</span><img alt="fbmbsH4.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/fbmbsH4.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <strong>WCW World Heavyweight Championship</strong></p><p><strong> “Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner vs. Tully Blanchard</strong></summary></p><p> <em><span style="font-size:8px;">Announced Time Limit: TV Time Remaining</span></em></p><p><em><span style="font-size:8px;"> Official: Nick Patrick</span></em></p><p><em><span style="font-size:8px;"> Ringside: Midajah (Scott Steiner)</span></em></p><p> </p><p> Just like how this feud got started, Steiner walks into the center of the ring and starts posing, flexing his muscles and trying to intimidate his opponent, but Tully slaps him across the face! Blanchard then goes into full “stalling heel” mode, which for sure makes the match seem off balance because he’s the face, but the crowd are into it because it is really getting under Scott Steiner’s skin. Arn tells that Tully is a master of ring psychology and is amazing at irritating opponents with these exact tactics. Blanchard gets Steiner with a double leg takedown while he is arguing with Nick Patrick, and he starts attacking Steiner’s legs with stomps and leglocks. This is definitely his best option, and he takes full advantage of it. But that leaves Scott’s arms, which are able to shove him away fairly often. “Big Poppa Pump” seems to be having problems dealing with these old school methods, maybe Tully has a chance here?</p><p> </p><p> Well, maybe not. Because while this is a great tactic and would have been scary for whoever Blanchard would have been facing in the 1980s such as Magnum TA, Ricky Morton, Dusty Rhodes, etc., but this is 2001 and Scott Steiner is one of the best wrestlers in the world. Eventually he does get in control, and that’s when things turn really south. Steiner belly to belly suplexes Blanchard, pulling him off the mat and doing it again and then scraping him off the mat to do it again. He drops an elbow on Tully’s midsection before doing some push-ups, and now Steiner is completely in control. He starts hammering power move after power move on Tully, before mounting him and punching Blanchard repeatedly to the point that his face is busted open! Nick Patrick threatens to disqualify Steiner if he throws another punch, and that makes Scott just get into Patrick’s face and scream that he’ll bloody him up just as bad!</p><p> </p><p> Patrick doesn’t disqualify him for now, but the champion doesn’t let up for long. He slams Tully down with a gorilla press slam and peels him off the mat to hit a samoan drop, pulling him up before a three count to just show how in control he is right now. The blood is starting to get on the mat as Scott starts slapping Blanchard around, screaming “Who’s the man? I’m the man!” in his face. Steiner even leaves the ring at this point, and he grabs a microphone from David Penzer. He starts walking around the ring with it, browbeating Tully. <em>“I’m the man with the largest arms in the world, why’d you even show up? You’re just some old punk who never got put down like your bald buddy Arn! But just like your teeth, you might as well be Old Yeller, because I’m gonna take you out back and put you down! And since I’ma still be the man in eighteen years, I’ma take your daughters out, and teach them that size matters, and they’ll start to call me ‘The Big Bad Booty Daddy’!”</em></p><p> </p><p> But that brings Tully alive, and he attacks! Punches, kicks, chops, he bites Steiner’s forehead, he is going crazy! It all culminates in Blanchard setting Steiner up, and he hoists him into the slingshot suplex! Tully makes the cover, this could be it!</p><p> </p><p> 1!</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> 2!</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> NO!</p><p> Steiner doesn’t just kick out, he hurls Tully off of him! That was a little too close for comfort, and now “Big Poppa Pump” is incensed. With one big Steinerline, he puts Blanchard on the mat hard. From there, he is completely done playing around, hitting a double underhook powerbomb on Blanchard and then locking in the Steiner Recliner. Tully refuses to submit for the longest time, but finally, there’s no recourse… he is forced to tap out.</p><p> </p><p> But it appears we aren’t finished, as Steiner is still red hot. Despite releasing Blanchard after the bell sounded, he goes back on the attack, locking the move in again! Nick Patrick threatens him, but Midajah shoves him away! She gives him the lead pipe, and “Big Poppa Pump” starts nailing Tully in the back with it! He locks the hold in again, this time with the pipe across Tully’s throat! He refuses to release the hold, and now Charles Robinson and Nick Patrick are both trying to get him to release it. Paul Orndorff comes out as well, but Steiner still isn’t going to let go! Ernest Miller even comes out and they try to physically pull him away, but Steiner shrugs them all off!</p><p> </p><p> When they threaten to reverse the match result, he finally seems done with a passed out Tully. Steiner starts posing on the turnbuckles, flexing and shouting about being the man. An audible “thud” is heard as Arn Anderson drops his headset and slides into the ring to check on Blanchard. “Big Poppa Pump” seems pretty pleased with himself, holding up the World championship with a huge, menacing smile on his face. Scott starts leaving up the aisle… but then he looks back. He locks eyes with Arn Anderson, and starts to come back toward the ring! He pulls Arn off the mat and shoves him into the turnbuckle, cornering him and shouting for him to <em>“C’mon and be the Enforcer! Come on, Arn! Hit me, Enforcer!”</em> </p><p> </p><p> But before he can hit Arn, Scott’s arm is pulled away – by Ric Flair! Flair starts to tell Steiner to just get out of here, leave the ring or else. Scott smirks, starting to walk away. But once Ric’s back is turned, Scott starts to shove at Flair’s back. He pushes on him, and when Flair turns around he just says <em>“What? What are you gonna do about it?”</em> Before he actually piefaces Ric to the mat!</p><p> </p><p> And “The Nature Boss” has had enough, he starts chopping Steiner! The crowd are going nuts! Flair punches and chops at Scott’s chest, and Arn slides him a steel chair which he nails Steiner over the face with! Scott rolls out of the ring, with Flair taking his jacket off and throwing it at Steiner! Tenay and Hudson don’t even know how to call this, they have no idea what’s going to come of this chaos! Ric Flair the man just came out of Ric Flair the businessman, but what will the fallout of that be?! Tenay says that next month on father’s day, June 16th, will be the Great American Bash, but be sure to join us on Friday Nitro to see what is to come of this!</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Match Time: 12:08</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em> Notes: Steiner’s performance really stood out during the match. (C+)</p><p> </p><p> Back in the trainer’s room, Palumbo is being checked out after the attack he suffered at the end of his match earlier. Despite he and Mark Jindrak’s claims of Chuck being just fine and ready to watch Sean’s match tonight, the trainers are making sure that he’s fine. But he’s not fine for long as the entire World rush into the room, and they assault the two Thrillers with punches and kicks! They are down and out on the ground by the time O’Haire and Booker T are on the scene to chase the heels away. O’Haire comes across well, showing concern for his friends.
