If you would be worried about them fitting into "attitude" then just start them off by doing some old school Horsemen beatdowns on people! Besides, the way I'm seeing it, the Kliq aren't going to be around forever. Netting Naitch and Double A can build up that future major heel threat.</p>

  5. <p>Really liked In Your House, so many huge rated matches! And go Scotty! I knew I was right to back Big Poppa Pump! The one I'm really surprised at is how well the Foley promo turned out. 8. <p>Proud Achievements</p><p> </p><p> <span style="color:#0000FF;"><span style="text-decoration:underline;">From the desk of Eric Bischoff:</span></span></p><p> The first episode of Friday Nitro and WCW Pride are both in the books this week, and as I sit back with a nice cold beer, I reflect on the week that we’ve had and the work it took to get here. Sure, we still aren’t in a great place financially, but to look at the sheer facts, Pride pulled in over $750,000 on pay-per-view revenue! We may not be rolling in it, but we may indeed break even by the end of the year if this keeps up… as long as the banks stay off our case until then.</p><p> </p><p> Backstage at Friday Nitro was a pretty fun atmosphere, as newcomer David Cash a.k.a. Kid Kash ran a poker tournament for the guys on his first night as a true WCW employee. Unfortunately, I went a little too far by pulling a rib on Ron Harris. The rest of the locker room thought it was really funny that I left a Chia Pet in his locker to make light of his baldness, but both he and Don were very hot about it. I apologized, but it looks like Ron’s sour mood is just going to be something that sticks with him.</p><p> </p><p> Fortunately, Pride turned out better for me. I spoke with Arn Anderson before the show started, and low and behold, I finally turned the tension between he and Kevin Nash away! The two had some tension ever since 1997 and the nWo’s Horsemen parody, but time heals all wounds and “Double A” seems to finally be putting it behind him. Speaking of Nash, he wasn’t too thrilled that I was having him drop the bout to Lex at Pride, but relented when I told him he was being protected by the Bagwell interference. This is a nice feud to keep the three of them busy, and it seems to have a lot of people salivating for Scott Hall’s return to WCW. I know I promised Kevin that I would try and bring Scott back when his New Japan deal is up, but I’m open to a few ways this could go.</p><p> </p><p> During his pre-show match with the Harris Boys, Sean O’Haire strained a bicep. It was nothing major, and he’ll be back in shape and ready to go by Friday. Speaking of the pre-show, this was one of the reasons I started the WCW Panel. I think a solid hype show will do us some wonders, especially if it’s live coverage that includes some matches as well, for free! And it keeps Tony from being upset that I took him off of commentary, which is just a good bonus.</p><p> </p><p> Did I say bonus? Well, AJ Styles certainly did. He was making $1,500 a month, a fairly standard development deal level contract. But his popularity has shot up well in the times we’ve used him, and now that he’s become a full time member of the WCW roster, he asked for a raise of $1,420. I wasn’t too sure about it, but in the end I gave him all of it; he’s young and a little green yet, but he has some really strong potential, and I see building his trust at this stage as something that can only help in the future.</p><p> </p><p> Scott Steiner was heard spouting off during the video for Low-Ki during the show, saying that he doesn’t think he’s worth keeping around. “You can throw all the kicks ya want, but he ain’t shown us a single damn suplex! He can’t work no crowd without that!” I had considered having him stop by NWA: Wildside for a few months, but I let him pass over development simply because I want some young talent to come up to the main roster. I guess time will only tell if I’m right or if Scott is.</p><p> </p><p> Terry Taylor has left World Championship Wrestling, as his contract expired. Terry was with our company for a long time, and I may bring him back once we are a little more financially stable.</p><p> </p><p> We saw some great in-ring chemistry pop up between Chavo Guerrero Jr. and Kid Kash, of all people. That’s good, because I plan to give the two of them a short program against one another. Fans seemed pretty surprised to see Chavo pick up the win over the new guy, but the way I saw it, not every debut can get an initial win. Kash may be a strong personality and someone I want to keep around, but I’ve heard that he isn’t the greatest person backstage if he gets a wild hair up his ass. So we will see how he goes. But the disappointment – one that I knew was coming – was that Lance Storm and Booker T just don’t click together in the ring. They put on a solid match both times they’ve been one on one, but that is just due to the sheer nature of how good they are in the ring, not due to them working well with one another.</p><p> </p><p> Booker and Storm were both complimented on a good performance in the Pride match, people were definitely on the edge of their seat for that one. We made the decision to use this to write off Lance’s “Canadian” gimmick once and for all, because at a certain level I feel it is holding him back. We don’t plan to make him into a goofy, grinning dancer or anything stupid like that, but I want to use this to give him a little harder edge. Goldberg also was praised for how well he did in the main event against Scott, and the three of them all seemed pleased with being positively called out. I think people are starting to enjoy my little post-show speeches, especially when they don’t involve ripping out Ric Flair.</p><p> </p><p> I see a flashing light on my answering machine, and I know who it is before I even hit the button.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="color:#008000;">“Eric, it’s Shane! You remember me, don’t you; my dad almost bought the company you’re running? Ha ha… look, I know you think you’re doing okay for yourself now that you’re set up on pay-per-view, but how long do you think that’ll last? You can’t keep avoiding me forever. You gotta give me an answer, yes or no. I know you could use the money, and I can bring it to you. Just call me.”</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> Sigh. I have been avoiding him. But I need to make a decision on this. Do I accept the help of a McMahon, even if it is Shane? I mean, it worked out for Heyman to work with Vince for all those years, and Shane doesn’t seem nearly as megalomaniacal.</p><p> </p><p> Just then, a soft knock comes to the door. That’s strange, I could have sworn everyone had left the Reno Events Center already. I stand up and walk over to open the door, when I get a surprise visitor.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="color:#F4A460;">“Hey, um, boss… I have a proposition for you. Let’s just say that if you accept it, all of WCW’s money problems will be over.”</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="OOC" data-cite="OOC" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43111" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Has a new player entered the fray?! I didn’t expect some of those answers I got, but I suppose I left it open when I said “hasn’t been seen in WCW in some time,” as Stacy hadn’t been on-screen at this point since about November 2000. That was when the David Flair pregnancy angle was written off. In real life, she would return in late February or early March paired with Shawn Stasiak, but I didn’t run with that, so as of this point she is still between storylines.</p><p> </p><p> to4sty: Yeah, I’m really enjoying Gene and Jeremy, I just find it amusing that they have good managerial chemistry! I do make sure to use JB in the angles sometimes so that it helps pump up his overness and skills, but sometimes I just let it play out, as I did with Goldberg. I am really enjoying the plans I have set up for Vampiro, as his “Dark Eden” comes together in the next few months, and I hope everyone else will enjoy it as well.</p><p> </p><p> Tomorrow I will be posting the WWF results from the week, so keep an eye out for those!</p></div></blockquote>
  9. ??? - Not a good debut, as they drop the match. Ken Shamrock - Nobody cares about Bill anymore. Rey Mysterio Jr - Poor Wilehlm is all messed up. Benoit and Guerrero - They pick up the win by DQ, as Kronik either go too far making Eddie pay them back or Buffy T attack. Scott Hall - Time for the Outsiders to get some payback. Scott Steiner - A good night to be a Scott. DDP - The Not World Order get involved to give Flair the win, but Page reverses the decision. Bonus: Road Warriors
  10. <p>I'm not upset at Sid sticking around at all. He really does make a great menacing presence, one you can definitely find a place for if you look for something for him to do.</p><p> </p><p> Scott Steiner</p><p> Jericho and Marty - <em>This just feels like a good match where the two of them can gain some level of payback on their rivals. I look for Marty to pin Lance with a roll-up.</em></p><p> Raven</p><p> Hart Foundation - <em>Curt and the Outlaws just aren't on the same plane as the Harts, though this could be the time that Billy and Jesse see where Perfect's bread is being buttered and leave him behind.</em></p><p> Edge - <em>Save for last week, you've in general been booking E&C to look a lot stronger than the Hardys. This continues here, as the side with higher upside of one team takes down the one with lower upside from the other team.</em></p><p> Rich Steiner - <em>It doesn't matter whether it's 1996, 1998, or 2001, Rick just seems difficult to push. Scott can so easily stand on his own, Rick not so much.</em></p>
  11. World Championship Wrestling presents WCW Pride Our opening video for the show is narrated by the voice of Vampiro: “Of all the deadly sins, perhaps the worst of them all is pride. Pride is the father of all sins, the devil’s most prominent trait. It’s pride that drives men to feel bigger and better than they really are, pride that makes them feel like higher beings than all those around them. Pride makes you fight for only yourself, to put your foot down on all others to climb above them. Selfishness leads men to the highest of highs… but also, the lowest of lows. Remember; pride goeth before a fall.” During the video, images were shown of Goldberg and Scott Steiner, Totally Buff, Kevin Nash, Booker T, and The World, while occasionally cutting back to Vampiro in a dark room. The final line is delivered while looking at Vampiro, who blows out a candle to lead into the WCW Pride logo. (B-) <iframe width="220" height="124" src=" https://www.youtube.com/embed/nmPsZRgvXP4?rel=0" frameborder="0" gesture="media" allow="encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe> WCW Pride Shown Live on April 22nd, 2001 Held at: The Reno Events Center in Reno, Nevada (South West) Announcers: Mike Tenay, Scott Hudson, and Arn Anderson Attendance: 10,000 people (sold out!) PPV Rating: 0.18 TV Rating: 0.26 “Mean” Gene Okerlund and Jeremy Borash are back in the interview area, welcoming everyone in their own way to WCW Pride. Gene says that he has a special guest with him tonight, that guest walking in being Sid Vicious! Okerlund asks him what he is doing here tonight, with Sid saying that he’s here to watch what happens in the main event. He tells Goldberg to make sure not to hurt Steiner so badly that he has to vacate the title, because Sid is coming for Steiner and the World title very soon! Notes: Gene and Jeremy play off one another so well. Rating: B We go backstage and earlier tonight, where cameras caught The Steiner Brothers entering the building. Scott, noticing the camera, begins yelling at it, saying that he has arrived, so “Green-berg can start crapping his panties right about now, because ‘The Big Bad Booty Daddy’ is here to make him and any other Reno whores into his lil’ bitches!” While Scott stops to breathe, Rick adds that he’s gonna wipe that white paint off Sting’s face and replace it with his boot print. Scott then adds that “The Genetic Freak is in town, and I’ma show that bald headed bastard what my freaks already know – that size does matter, and the largest arms in the world and The Big Dipper are both gonna get some horizontal action tonight in Reno!” Notes: Scott really enjoyed being unscripted, as he generally tends to do, even if the segment was a bit short and rushed as we moved him along. Rating: B In live action, we see Goldberg’s dressing room door. Security are standing in front of it and we hear him slamming lockers and in general banging around as he prepares himself for his match tonight. Notes: This was short too, fans would have rather seen Goldberg instead of just hearing him. Rating: B We go to Mike, Scott, and Arn, who are talking about the match coming up next between “The Cat” Ernest Miller against Kanyon. But Mike says that he is getting word from the back that something is going on. Cameras are sent into action, and we find that a huge pull-apart brawl is going on between members of The World in Elix Skipper, Mike Awesome, and Shawn Stasiak, and the three Natural Born Thrillers! As the fight intensifies, “The Nature Boss” Ric Flair steps in, and he says that since their matches are all done anyways, he orders security to throw all six men out of the building! Separately, so that they don’t just keep fighting outside. Tenay says that it looks like their own problems have caused Lance Storm and Booker T to not have any backup or support during the Pride match later tonight! Notes: Elix looked completely out of place among all the huge musclemen throwing haymakers, but O’Haire came across very well. Flair was a real star, taking charge of the whole situation. Rating: B- After shuddering about what we just saw, “Mean” Gene and Jeremy welcome their next guest to the interview area, none other than Booker T! Asking him about the Pride match later tonight, Booker tells them that he isn’t afraid for his achievements tonight, because just like when he won all those things, he is going to fight to his last breath. He tells Lance that when he strips him of all the Maple Leaf BS he’s been spouting for years, not to go hating the player; just hate the game. Rating: C We see “Mean” Gene Okerlund shake his head in disbelief over what just happened as we cut to the WCW Panel! But mostly just Gene and Jeremy right now, as they throw it to a pre-recorded interview that they had with Lance Storm. Okerlund is asking Storm about the Pride match coming up later, with Storm telling him that he is going to be even more than just serious – he’ll be deadly serious when he steps into the steel cage against Booker T. Major Gunns bounces in joy behind Storm’s shoulder as he lists off Booker’s WCW career achievements; his ten World Tag Team title reigns, six World Television title reigns, three World Heavyweight championship reigns. Lance says that Booker needs to kiss those goodbye, because when he causes Booker to scream in pain that he submits tonight, which he’s caused him to do twice already in the past month, he won’t even be a player in his own game, because all of those will belong to Lance Storm and The World! “Don’t blame the player; don’t blame the game; don’t blame Canada, just blame yourself!” Notes: Gene and Jeremy played off one another well, with Gunns helping Lance during this interview. Rating: C It’s halftime of the show, which means it is time for the WCW Panel to join us to talk about what we’ve seen so far this evening and what is to come. Tony, Chris, Gene, Jeremy, and Stevie are joined by Stacy Kiebler, who says that she has been absent from WCW because she has been watching and waiting for someone worthy of her managerial services. Stevie seems to have some more charisma as he talks about how he can’t wait for the Pride match, because it’s time to see Booker T “shut the slap-yap of that fruit booty bitch” Lance Storm. Tony says that the Pride match is all about the legacy of Booker T against the persona of Lance Storm, and their careers and perhaps even WCW may never be the same once the bout is over. They also talk about the Indian Strap match, with Jeremy and Chris both agreeing that they are so excited that their first few pay-per-view events with WCW have featured such huge main events. After talking briefly about what we’ve seen so far with Kid Kash surprisingly coming up short in his WCW debut and the attack on Kevin Nash, Schiavone sends us to a special look at an incoming new superstar to World Championship Wresting! Notes: Tony and Jeremy performed poorly and Chris didn’t really come out of it looking very good. Rating: C- It’s another video featuring the man called Low-Ki, this time less about seeing him in the ring and more about his training regimen. It shows him decimating a heavy bag with his high impact kicks, and then some footage of him talking about how he may not be the biggest dog in the fight, but it’s more about the size of the fight in the dog. He is bringing his fight to WCW! Notes: Low-Ki’s new gimmick is shown off as a legitimate style Bad Ass, which comes off as average. But by the end of the segment, fans already feel like he’s better at it. Rating: F “Mean” Gene Okerlund and Jeremy Borash are walking backstage, with Gene telling Jeremy to “Just stand behind me, kid. Me and Goldberg go way back, I’m the only guy who’s allowed to even call him ‘Bill’ anymore. If you say the wrong thing to him, he’ll tear your head off! So you just leave this to me and keep quiet. Make sure you’re taking notes.” They get to the locker room door of Goldberg, with the security beginning to stop them until Gene tells them that he’s here for some words from Goldberg. Jeremy (behind Gene, so he doesn’t see it) shows them a press badge, and they allow them through. Gene (telling Jeremy “See, that’s how it’s done”) knocks on the door, loudly calling for Goldberg to answer. The door cracks open, and the icy stare of Goldberg glares at them. Gene, jovially, turns to look at the cameraman and starts off his interview spiel; “I am ‘Mean’ Gene Okerlund, and everyone, I am here for an exclusive interview with none other than ‘Da Man’ Goldberg! Goldberg, what can you tell us about your upcoming Indian Strap match against World champion Scott Steiner?” Goldberg glares at Gene, looking him up and down, before screaming “He’s next!” and slams the door, nearly taking the microphone right out of Gene’s hand! As they walk away, a flustered Gene says that this was “All your fault, Jeremy, you must have looked at him wrong! They ruined my damn interview!” Jeremy just shrugs at the cameraman as Gene blares on through the corridor. Notes: This was kept brutally short, but what shone was the pairing of Okerlund and Borash. Rating: B The cameras follow the X-Division champion backstage, where right behind the curtain he meets up with Konnan and Billy Kidman. Tygress is pleased, asking when they go to the party, with Konnan telling her that they got one more pandejo to knock down and then it’s time to party hearty, chica! She turns to head out with Kidman, who, despite being all smiles and high fives for Rey, also jokes that when he’ll beat Jarrett quicker than Rey did to Shane. After that awkward moment passes, Konnan slaps Kidman’s shoulders and tells him to go bring home that gold, holmes! Notes: Tygress’s ever present, bouncing personalities helped Rey and Kidman during this segment. Rating: C Show Rating: B This show raised WCW’s popularity in 8 regions. -----
  12. Thanks guys, I'm glad to see it getting a positive reaction I mean, it really is good to have a way to hype you all back up a little, given how long I take between shows... No troll intended, I always planned on posting this a few days before Pride was to be posted. The reason the Thrillers vs. Harris match, along with the other two, weren't listed on the prediction card was solely because I wasn't planning on having them as part of the main show. Had I put them on the card to begin with, then someone who came in now (such as Texasrangers) wouldn't have been able to predict on it, and that wouldn't have been very fair! Not that I'm expecting many more predictions, you guys have been very good to me with how long I make you wait for new content. It is very much appreciated, and hey, the day I decide to close this game down, I will say so. So leave that wonder out of your minds, because unless I come in this thread and say "Okay guys, we're done" or I start up a new diary (which I've no real plans of) then this one is my focal game. No, the special guest doesn't join them until during Pride, so feel free to edit someone's name in.

Tony, Gene, and Stevie favor Goldberg winning and continuing his new Streak, while Chris and Jeremy feel that Steiner has too much to prove, and think that he will win it by hook or by crook to get rid of Goldberg once and for all. Booker repeatedly tries to get to the ropes, but Storm is able to keep him at bay – finally the damage already done to the arm is too much, and Booker T is forced to tap out! He says that he is about to be serious for a moment, and tells everyone that last Friday, the world witnessed a tragedy. By a horrific turn of events, he was robbed of defeating Booker T yet again, he watched him tap out, but some lousy American referee screwed him over, just like Americans seem to enjoy doing to Canadian heroes. Storm tells Booker T that he wants him to come out here right now and right this wrong, by bowing down to him and telling him that Lance Storm is the better man! “Double A” says that he doesn’t think that will be happening, as the crowd boo that scenario. Those boos turn to a nice pop when Booker T appears at the entrance. He tells Storm that he’s sorry to say, but that ain’t happening – not tonight, not any other night! Booker says that he has an idea for Lance: <em>“One on one, you and me, next Sunday night at WCW Pride… in a Pride match.”</em> He explains that the rules are simple: they each wager something valuable to themselves, then enter a steel cage, and the first man to scream submission loses! Storm is very pleased with this idea, accepting almost immediately, saying that he knows exactly what he wants from Booker. <em>“Long years, you’ve spent here in WCW gaining fame and winning championships. This is what I want to take from you, Booker – I want your legacy! All the glory and titles that you’ve won over the years, the history books will change to say that those were won by Lance Storm! They aren’t befitting of you anyways, you’re just a dumb American; they should have always belonged to someone more suitable, someone who’s better than you, someone from Calgary, Alberta, Canada; someone like Lance Storm!”</em> Booker looks to the crowd, before giving his answer to that. <em>“Dog, you don’t even get it. But you’re gonna get it this Sunday. And when I beat you in the Pride match, you’re gonna give up your Canadian pride! When you give up, you won’t just be giving up to me, you’ll be giving up your country. No more Canadian National Anthem, no more ‘Canada is better than America,’ no more Canadian Hero – you’ll never talk down to Americans again just because you’re from Canada!”</em> (C+)</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Back to The WCW Panel we go, where they talk about the Pride match. Stevie Ray, of course, has full support behind his brother, saying that they didn’t fight and scratch their way to ten Tag Team title reigns just for some maple leaf fruit booty sucka to come along and take them all away! Chris Lovey talks about how the steel cage will make a big difference, as neither The World nor the Natural Born Thrillers can get involved, and the submission only nature of the bout means it won’t be any sort of fluke victory on either side. He, Tony, and Gene agree that Booker T has a lot to prove after tapping out twice to Storm now, and will come out the winner. It’s Jeremy who is on his own here, feeling that Lance is too hungry for victory and too talented at submission wrestling to lose here. (D+) </p><p> </p><p> We stay with The WCW Panel as they turn their attention to Rick Steiner and Sting, saying that this match came about by Scott Steiner constantly berating Sting ever since putting him out of action in November of 2000. But now, “The Stinger” is back, and he is looking for blood; but “The Dog-Faced Gremlin” is no pushover, so this could become one of the more hard-hitting, brutal matches of the evening. Tony, Gene, and Jeremy all back Sting to come out on top, while Stevie Ray and Chris aren’t sure if Sting is back to form yet, while Steiner has been wrestling nearly every week since January. Stevie says that if Sting came back too soon or isn’t in tip-top shape, then he’ll go down like a common Harlem hoodrat. (C-)</p><p> </p><p> Scott Hudson is backstage (in a segment marked as being recorded during the previous Panel segment) alongside Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, and Tully Blanchard. Scott says that he can’t wait to start the show tonight, asking for “The Nature Boss” to give some thoughts on it. Flair says that he definitely looks forward to seeing who comes out on top in the Indian Strap and Pride matches, saying that despite the iron-clad contract forcing Goldberg to keep winning matches until he can get a title match, if Goldberg defeats Steiner tonight it’ll really force the hand of he and Eric to see what they can do about it. Hudson tells Anderson that he will see him out there in about a half an hour, helping Mike Tenay call the action! Flair says that if anyone does anything out of line, the three of them will be watching, and we will see who bleeds, sweats, and pays the price to get the big victories! Commentary speculate what Nash has to say tonight, with Arn wondering if Nash knows where to go with his career after losing his title shot on the last TNT Nitro. Nash slaps a few hands on the way down, and as he starts climbing the stairs, a photographer takes a picture – and the flash bulb explodes, blinding Kevin! He staggers off the steps, and out from under the ring… “The Total Package” and Buff Bagwell attack Nash viciously, as Tenay gets a closer look and sees that the “photographer” was Madusa dressed as one of the press members who are around the ring! This was all a big setup, and the plan worked perfectly. Luger and Bagwell do a number especially on Nash’s legs, but Luger pulls Nash up into the Torture Rack until finally the security team are able to come out and separate everyone. </p><p> Later that night… </p><p> Buff closes by saying that Nash should have been out there to announce that he’s leaving wrestling forever, but he won’t have to because everyone knows that Totally Buff will be putting him out if he decides to come back! </p><p> </p><p> <span style="text-decoration:underline;">April 20, 2001: WCW Friday Nitro</span></p><p> “The Stuff” wastes no time in talking about their attack on Kevin Nash, mocking Nash for being such a pushover. Bagwell says that a few years ago, he and Luger were at Nash’s side in the Wolfpac, but it’s clear that it is time to put that big, old, ugly wolf down, and time for the young, clever, sexy wolves to take his spot at the top of the pack! Luger adds that Kevin is simply a means to an end to Totally Buff, that if he had stayed home last Friday night, they would have just attacked someone else. </p><p> Later that night… </p><p> We cut to a satellite promo from “Big Sexy” Kevin Nash. He’s highly upset with Totally Buff, saying that his announcement that he was going to make at Big Bang can wait; now, he just wants to kick their jacked up, musclebrained asses! He wants one of them to face him this Sunday at WCW Pride, saying that first he’ll take one down, and then the other. (C+)</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> The WCW Panel meet with us one more time before the live coverage pre-show goes to it’s final match to talk about Totally Buff and Kevin Nash. Tony thinks that it has been appalling the way that Luger, Bagwell, and Madusa have been acting, and he can’t wait to see Nash start to shut their yaps tonight. Chris and Gene agree, with Stevie and Jeremy being the ones who feel that Lex Luger is in the best shape of his life and could lift Nash into the Torture Rack at any time. Who will come out on top? Call your friends, because WCW Pride will be starting very soon! (C-)</p><p> </p><p> In the final match of the pre-show, Mark Jindrak & Sean O'Haire defeat The Harris Brothers in 8:01 to retain the WCW World Tag Team titles, with Jindrak pinning Big Ron after a springboard clothesline. He says that just like WCW, it looks like “Da Man” is back! He says that over the past few months he’s seen people defeat Scott Steiner and then get a World championship match, so it’s time for either Eric Bischoff or Ric Flair to come out here and give him his earned title shot! Goldberg says that it’s time Steiner stops ducking the man who should be champion! Instead of an authority, however, “Big Poppa Pump” comes to the top of the aisle, with Steiner telling Goldberg that he gets nothing, because he is still iron clad contractually obligated to keep wrestling nobodies until replicating his 1998 streak. Midajah produces a list for Scott to read as he tells Goldberg that he can just shuffle back to the midcard to face losers on Goldberg’s level such as: <em>“Eban Kragis; Crush and Wrath, the Kronik; Diamond Dallas Page; Miss Hancock; the former Jung Dragons, Ping and Pong; Chyna; Screamy Smiley; Fatu and Meng; the Revolution and Lord Steven Regal; the Four Horsemen; ‘The Big Bitchy Wolf’ Kevin Nash; and of course, Booker T,”</em> and then after all that, he can come see Scott about a title shot after all that so he can retire him for good! Steiner adds that <em>“And speaking of ducking challengers, you’re lucky that WCW kept you away from ‘the man with the largest arms in the world’ during your first streak, because I would have shoved that streak up your ass if you weren’t ducking me all through 1998!”</em> Goldberg starts telling Scott that they can prove who ducks who by bringing his jacked-up ass down to the ring right now and he can be next, but “The Nature Boss” Ric Flair joins us instead! Flair says that in his own way, Scott is unfortunately right, because he’d love to make that title match for right here tonight on the first Friday Nitro in Las Vegas, so he can see Steiner get his ass kicked all over the Hard Rock arena! However, what he can do is prove a point to Scott not to let his mouth overrun himself, and that’s to book a non-title match between Scott Steiner and Goldberg for this Sunday night at WCW Pride! Flair then adds that since the two of them feel the other has ducked their challenge in the past, then he is going to make it a match where neither can run from the other – the always brutal, vicious spectacle which we haven’t seen in years that is an Indian Strap match! Ric says that the two of them are going to be joined with a hard leather strap by the wrist and can only win by pinfall or submission, and we will see which man is better and which takes a huge hit to their Pride! Wooooo!</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em><span style="font-size:8px;">Notes: This was all unscripted for the three of them, though we did give them the whole thing about ducking one another to play off of. Scott improvised well with his “list of midcarders” gimmick. Goldberg performed well as he really enjoyed not being scripted, and his performance was really good. Flair did masterful at reading the crowd and interacting with them, coming off fantastic. Gene is hyping Jeremy up, telling him that this is the big leagues now, kid; he better not mess up, because he has a face for telephone and Gene can make that happen if he makes him look bad. They are joined by Ric Flair, woooing and strutting around as animated as he can. Flair asks Okerlund how Borash is doing as his intern, with Gene saying that he messed up his coffee earlier, so he’s on the cusp. Flair says that Gene is gonna want to get that coffee so he can stay awake for the main event, because for the first Friday Nitro, Ric is booking a special Champions Carnival elimination style six-man tag team match! He says that he’s putting Scott Steiner and Jeff Jarrett, along with a partner they can agree with, against Rey Mysterio Jr., Sean O’Haire, and Mark Jindrak! Woooo! He claps Borash on the back and tells him to give Gene some “Irish coffee” next time, before walking off still hitting his “Woooo”s. Gene asks Jeremy what Irish coffee is, with Borash saying he’ll make some up.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em><span style="font-size:8px;">Notes: Gene enjoyed the freedom to improvise with Flair, who did well.</span></em></p><p><em><span style="font-size:8px;"> Rating: B-</span></em></p></div><p></p><p> </p><p> <hr><details><summary></p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Coming Soon to WCW</strong></p></div><p></p><p></summary></p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><iframe width="220" height="180" src="</p><a href="https://www.youtube.com/embed/EZYzqstO2EA?rel=0&controls=0&showinfo=0" rel="external nofollow">https://www.youtube.com/embed/EZYzqstO2EA?rel=0&controls=0&showinfo=0"</a> frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Rating: F+</em></span></p></div><p></p><p></hr></details></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43111" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><hr><details><summary><strong>Yang vs. AJ Styles</strong></summary> </p><p> In order to make up for the ruined match that these two had at Big Bang, they are given the first match of the new Friday Nitro era to show their stuff. All they were out to do was make an explosion at the Big Bang, and they did it. Luger comments how he has been on Nash’s side and the opposite side of the ring from him many times, and now that Nash is alone, he has no chance; especially since “The Total Package” is in the best shape of his life with only 4% body fat. Now that Kevin knows he’s no match for them, he should just stay home and collect his paycheck for not working; Buff chiming in that after all, not working and getting paid big for it is what Nash knows how to do best.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43111" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><hr><details><summary><strong>Screamin’ Norman Smiley vs. Buff “The Stuff” Bagwell</strong></summary> </p><p> Norman is definitely a well-respected, world-renowned wrestler, but Bagwell starts this match on the offensive and rarely lets up. He seems to be looking around, almost confused, then starts to bring in his guest at this time, when Jeremy Borash rushes into view. Gene scolds Borash, saying that he should have been here already; <em>“And where’s my damn coffee? You’ve ruined my whole opening!”</em> Jeremy is apologetic, and that’s when Jeff Jarrett and the Harris Boys step into the frame. Jeff says that he doesn’t give a damn about “the odd couple slapnuts” in front of him, as long as one of them holds the mic so the people can listen to “The Chosen One”. Jarrett says that it’s about time that he lands in a main event, and he is going to start the new era of Nitro with a bang – Gene asking if he means since he didn’t have a great moment at The Big Bang last Friday? Jeff tells him that he or one of the Boys will slap the bald off his face with too many more cracks like that, before leaving. After they’re gone, Okerlund turns to Borash and asks him where he was at, he should be protecting Gene when someone like Jarrett, Ron, or Don start threatening him! <em>“Kids these days,”</em> he says, before throwing it back to Mike, Scott, and Arn.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Notes: Gene and Jeremy are comedy gold, a very good pairing. He hits a series of dropkicks to put Sting down on the mat, following up with a nice snap suplex to get a near fall. Wright gets a bit too full of himself and starts to dance though, and that gives Sting enough time to get his bearings beneath him. When Alex goes for his bridging German suplex, “The Stinger” blocks it, elbowing Wright in the jaw before connecting with a one handed bulldog! He takes over with knife edge chops and clubbing punches, sending Alex into the turnbuckles to hit the Stinger Splash! He hits another Stinger Splash, before throwing him down and hooking up the Scorpion Deathlock to get a nice submission victory on this first episode of Friday Nitro!</p><p> </p><p> “The Stinger” isn’t done yet though, after he sees to it that Alex is helped out of the ring he gets a microphone to address his fans. Sting thanks everyone for their support over his recent layoff, and thanks them for still supporting WCW after all this time, saying that it’s the only place you can or will ever see the man called Sting! He continues to say that while it is true that the only thing for sure about Sting is that nothing is for sure, one thing that he and everyone watching knows is that Sting just doesn’t feel right unless he’s in the hunt for that World’s Heavyweight title! Sting says that he has worn the big gold seven times in the past, but he wants to make it one more time for those who have supported him all this time.</p><p> <em>“You’re full of crap, Sting!”</em></p><p> Those kind of words draw attention, and attention Sting receives as “The Dog-Faced Gremlin” Rick Steiner comes out to the aisle! Steiner says that Sting can pander and rile up the crowd all he wants, but Sting has only ever been about Sting; he’s nothing but a selfish, over the hill relic who shouldn’t have bothered coming back when Scott sent him away! He tells Sting that the line for those who want a piece of “Big Poppa Pump” has a big bouncer in the way, and it’s him, so he better either prepare to fight or go home! Sting tells Rick that if it takes bouncing Rick’s head off the ring a few times, then he’ll do it! Sting says that if Rick wants to bark like a big dog, he’ll treat him like one – he makes a challenge to him for this Sunday night at WCW Pride! Steiner says that he’s never backed down from a fight, let alone one from Sting, so he’s on. Midajah files her nails in the corner while the World championship rests over her waist, with Scott saying that he’s tired of Ric Flair “that old piece’a crap” thinking that he means a damn to Scott and his title reign by making all these pointless matches against Goldberg. <em>“Yeah, I called his ass out for ducking me back when he had the title. No more Canadian National Anthem, no more ‘Canada is better than America,’ no more Canadian Hero – you’ll never talk down to Americans again just because you’re from Canada!”</em> Storm is livid, but after conferring with Major Gunns, in the end, he accepts this wager; <em>“after all, it’s not like you’ll ever be able to make me submit!”</em> Booker tells Storm to save the drama for his mama and enter the match, but when it’s over, don’t hate the player – hate the game!</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Notes: Arn’s commentary came off pretty weak. Tony Schiavone starts off by saying that this first Friday Nitro is definitely the most exciting night in the history of this sport that he has ever been a part of, but that may just become eclipsed by WCW Pride this Sunday! They discuss the card that they’ve been handed for this Sunday, which features the Indian Strap match between Goldberg and “Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner; a Pride match seeing Lance Storm versus Booker T; Sting taking on Rick Steiner; the WCW debut of Kid Kash; and “The Prodigal Son” Dustin Rhodes will take on C.W. of the Problem Solvers. They talk briefly about each match, but turn their attention to the rest of this evening to hype up the Champions Carnival six-man tag. Chris Lovey says that it will officially be Rick Steiner joining brother Scott and Jeff Jarrett, to take on the Natural Born Thrillers and Rey Mysterio Jr. </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Notes: Tony performed well, but Borash looked a little lost while Lovey seemed completely out of his depth.</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em> Rating: C-</em></span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> Unexpectedly, we find ourselves in a dark, candlelit room when we leave the Panel. He explains that Crowbar was punished for his greed; next we will see someone be punished for their pride. He calls it fitting that his first companion in the darkness is Daffney, someone who was overlooked as a meek, wayward waif in the past – but now, she will be at his side as they usher in the new testament of pain, punishment, and pleasure to World Championship Wrestling. More will be coming to be at their side… soon, very soon…</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Notes: Vampiro did well with no script this time, getting his points across nicely.</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em> Rating: C+</em></span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> We go to a regular backstage hallway where “The Franchise” Shane Douglas is seen. Shane seems to not be in the best of moods after his Hardcore title was taken and subsequently losing to Rey Mysterio to miss out on wearing the new X Division title. He talks to the cameraman, telling him that what we are about to witness is going to be a prime example of “the so-called man” holding down the best talent in the industry, and Shane wants it on videotape so that he can point to how little the business cares about those who make it the best. He arrives at the office of Ric Flair, barging in without knocking to find Flair on the phone. Ric tells the other person that he has a visitor, holding his hand over the speaker to ask what Douglas wants. “The Franchise” launches into a tirade about how all these years, Flair has done nothing but try to keep him at the bottom of the barrel, especially after Shane beat him up last year, but to outright rob him of the championship that he was defending week in and week out, bringing the ratings to Nitro at it’s bleakest hour, and then to only give him a few seconds to try and prepare for an athlete like Rey Mysterio Jr., is just too far! Shane asks, no, he demands reparations for this, and since Bischoff isn’t around, that means Ric has to get off his high horse and give it to him! “The Nature Boy” looks Shane over, before standing up and telling him that if he ever barges into his office like this again, he’ll send his “Franchised” ass straight home! However, he tells Douglas that he’s happy he’s here like this, because this is a fire, a drive that he has been wanting to see out of Shane for a long time! <em>“You’ve coasted by on what God-given talent you possess, but that’s not what makes champions, pal; it takes the guts, the fortitude, and the drive to go out there all night long, bleed, sweat, and pay the price, to take what you know is yours!”</em> Ric says that if Shane wasn’t prepared for Mysterio at Big Bang within a few seconds, then he shouldn’t have won the title anyways! But – since now he’s showing this fire, these guts, he’s going to give him one more shot, and not in a few seconds; Shane is going to have the next 48 hours to prepare himself, because at WCW Pride, “The Franchise” will get a rematch for the X Division championship, in Mysterio’s first title defense! <em>“Now get out of here, so you can start doing your homework on Rey and see if you can take that gold away from him!”</em></p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Notes: Shane struggled with improvising off of Flair, holding his own on his part but turning into a blubbering fool once Flair began. Palumbo adds that doesn’t mean they are taking a break from The World, as they still want Stasiak’s head on a platter for what he did to them, with Jindrak saying that all they need are names on dotted lines and they’ll destroy the World, once and for all!</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Notes: Gene and Jeremy make a good pair.</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em> Rating: C</em></span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> The Filthy Animals come to the ring, with the fans behind them all the way. He tells everyone that what you need to do is whatever Simon says, and he will lead them all to great places! Out to the entrance comes “The Cat” Ernest Miller, who tells Simon to <em>“Shut the hell up, you flat-top fool!”</em> Miller says that the only problem that Simon should worry about is “The Cat” putting his foot up his ass – somebody call his mama, he’s bout ‘ta whup some ass!</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Rating: D+</em></span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> Call it WCW ineptitude or just odd placement, but instead of going straight to the ring for that match, we cut to a satellite promo from “Big Sexy” Kevin Nash. Miller tells Kanyon to come to the ring and fight right now, but Kanyon says he could have easily come down to the ring and attacked him during the last match; but instead, they will! The Steiners throw Mysterio around like a ragdoll when they have a chance to, but Rick is the first eliminated when O’Haire and Jindrak connect on him with a superkick and dropkick combination before Mysterio dropped a leg from the top rope on him. But Scott goes on a rampage after his brother’s elimination, forcing Jindrak and Mysterio out using the Steiner Recliner and a mighty, ring shaking powerslam, respectively. The World and US champions pool together to try and take down O’Haire, but he is able to rally the fans behind him and eliminate Jarrett by shoving him away from a superplex attempt and hitting the Seanton Bomb on him! “Big Poppa Pump” feels confident to be in the ring with this young opponent, but O’Haire takes his intensity up a notch and takes the fight right to the World champion! He nearly gets the pinfall after a superkick that is heard all through the arena, but when he goes up for the Seanton Bomb, Midajah grabs his ankle. She is finally made to get down from the apron by Nick Patrick, but Steiner has his lead pipe, and he smashes it over O’Haire’s head! Sean goes limp, sitting on the top rope, as Steiner disposes of the evidence. He climbs onto the middle rope and pulls O’Haire into an avalanche fallaway slam, before locking the Steiner Recliner on the nearly unconscious Sean. He finally taps out, weakly, awarding this match to the World champion, though Arn says that this may be a loss in the record book but showing he could hang with the champ is never a losing effort.</p><p> </p><p> But apparently Scott doesn’t agree, feeling like he’s been shown up by the young upstart. He tells Midajah to give “it” to him, which turns out to be a leather strap! He starts beating on O’Haire with it, screaming Goldberg’s name! 23. <p>Kinda too bad to lose Lex, he's a fun character, but you have so many other fun characters that losing one won't hurt.</p><p> </p><p> Kaz Hayashi</p><p> Bill DeMott - <em>Bill hasn't done a whole lot lately, so a little distraction from Johnny could give him a nice win.</em></p><p> Konnan - <em>Who's First?</em></p><p> Hulk Hogan - <em>Vader is gonna dominate this but I think Hulk will still win by cheating somehow... loading his glove perhaps?</em></p><p> Eddie Guerrero - <em>Latino Heat has some stuff.</em></p><p> Kanyon - <em>Kanyon takes the title just to have people make jokes about him being hardcore.</em></p><p> ?? and Bret Hart - <em>This is a big match, can't vote against the mystery partner.</em></p><p> Bonus: <em>Goldberg, who is protecting Bret so he can take the title himself.</em></p>
  24. <p>Superman theme! Did anyone backstage have to have a mustache removed via overly expensive CGI?</p><p> </p><p> Hell of a show, worth the wait that we had; but real life always comes first. I'm a little surprised to see no titles change hands during the show, but honestly all the champs are performing great, so there isn't much need to change things up anywhere. I'm guessing Shane may need to establish himself just a little more before he grabs the brass ring, but at his age he may start some light time decline any time now, so this may have been his last grasp for the top strap. And especially now with guys like Austin in the mix, it feels like only a matter of time before the hell he raises gives him the big gold belt. Once that happens, someone like Shane just feels like small potatoes. Even Rey holding the belt feels like a placeholder now until you drop it on a transitional heel and then Austin takes it from there. </p><p> </p><p> I dig Bobby finding himself a new mentor as well, this is a good place for Flair to be and a great person to help boost Roode into the top. "The It Factor" shouldn't be far away now, I look for him to possibly break O'Haire's TV title reign.</p><p> </p><p> You've moved shows around a fair bit, so while I'm not sure what PPV we are going to start building for next, I'm excited to see the next Nitro that starts the push for it!</p>
