  1. This is what I'm hoping for too now. Suh, Fairley, Correy Williams, and Sammie Lee Hill is a damn good group of DT's. I thought for sure they'd go CB or OT but hard to pass up a talent like Fairley (and since I bitched when they passed on Moss even though they didn't need a wr, time to shut up now lol).

So, I say screw it, pick up some linebackers (maybe Bruce Carter) with the rest of the draft and make the front seven so good that we can live with Chris Houston and Alphonso Smith on the corners.

I could see Williams or Sammie Lee being used as trade bait now to try to get picks for next years draft when players are allowed to be moved.

Also tomorrow we could start seeing players get traded depending on what the NFL decides.

  2. I like JJ Watts the player.

Not sure how I feel about JJ Watts the pick. Sure am sick of watching us select DLinemen in the first round...

Still will be fun to watch him and Mario crush all these mediocre rookie QBs next year. :D

I thought they would have gone after Smith or Prince with that pick.

  3. So the Bucs drafted a guy named Adrian Clayborn a DE out of Iowa, I liked him but I liked C. Jordan from Cal more.

Now here is the big concern. First he has Erb's Palsy in the right shoulder I believe. Second he was arrested for assaulting a Cab driver last year. The Bucs are only a couple day away from cutting troubled CB Talib.

Also outside of that cab driver Clayborn hasn't had other troubles. I like Clayborn.

  4. I'm a huge Titans fan, far and away my favorite team. Being from Missouri I was kind of pulling for them to draft Blaine Gabbert since I've watched him since he was in high school, but I think I'm actually happy they took Jake Locker. Last year everybody was saying he would have been a number one overall pick, and even though his stock fell this year I think he still has great talent, and being a 4 year starter in a BCS conference will help him get ready faster too. I hope Blaine has a great career and I think sitting under Garrard for a few years will help him a ton.

True, Jake was one of my favorite QB's in this class. He didn't have the talent a lot of other QB's had and while he can inaccurate at times with a great running back improving wideouts and a talented O-Line he should do well. I can tell you there were probably a lot of QB's licking their lips in hopes they'd get chosen to go there. They have a offense that could really make a rookie QB look good.

  5. I don't know about a HUGE weight difference. Certainly a BIG one, but HUGE? Huge is Fedor/Silva. Hughes cuts from 180ish, and I think Franklin fights best at 185 or 195. He isn't a big LHW either, so his best weight might actually be below 205. Like Dan Henderson, I think they might fight better 195 (185 too big of a cut, 205 too many bigger guys).

That being said, a better answer would be a big size difference. Hughes is 5'9"/5'10", while Frankin is 6'/6'1".

    Lol sorry big weight difference.

  6. I thought the Vikes could have waited till the 2nd round to get Ponder, but Ponder has the potential to be a very talented QB with this team. I don't like Gruden saying the Vikes had no option because they really did.

I think Ryan Mallet could go to the Pats. I know that sounds weird, but they could trade down and get more picks and get Mallet to be their next QB when Brady decides to hang them up. They don't need a QB this year, but it could happen.

Also with these trades that were made, there are people (talented people) that could fall to talented the teams

  7. That's not entirely the point though...he can't win the title, yes, but I'd say what's happened when he has won it is as much of an issue. Compare Miz's reign to any of his own, and the way in which with both SES and new Nexus he's been in prime position to be pushed as the number one heel in the company, which has never happened. That feud with Cena, compared to what Punk/Cena could and should be, was nothing, and he's been beaten convincingly by Orton and could well be again on Sunday. Plus I think there's a broader frustration there in terms of the direction of the company etc etc, but that's another matter.

    Makes sense

  8. Always fancied that one actually.

Trivia time: Matt Hughes and Rich Franklin both fought at UFC 56. Franklin fought Nate Quarry and Hughes fought Joe Riggs, who was a late raplacement for Karo Parisyan...but who were both men originally supposed to fight that evening?

they were UF2 coaches but I believe both held titles. Where they supposed to face each other? no to big of a weight difference.

  9. I don't think Nick Fairley should go to the Skins. They need a bunch more then a 4-3 DT. I don't believe he would transition well to 3-4 DE. I think he would be better suited with the Vikings who I think would let Gabbert go for Fairley. A QB is a huge need, but they have piece in place at RB, WR, TE, and O-Line where they could go get a vet QB and drafted a QB later in the draft to develop. the D-Line is getting old and the Defense is getting old.

I just don't like Gabbert and that might be wrong, but Jac might be the best place for him. Garrad is their starter for next year, this allows Gabbert to sit and learn and get more accustom to the NFL style. Garrad is older and his contract is up after this year so Gabbert sitting for a full year would be a great thing for the Jags and fans should really be happy for the first time in a long time. They spent the last two years working on the inside of both sides of the ball and now they are looking for that franchise QB.

  10. Why does when someone go ahead of where Mel had him, Mel goes on a tirade saying I didn't have him on my board anywhere near here......... I don't think Titians care Mel, I love listening to McShay so much better.

Mel just always seems offended when someone goes further or way before he saw it. McShay knows he isn't perfect and he still explains why they drafted a person there and not they needed something else blah blah.

I like Tyron Smith to the Cowboys, because they need someone who can replace Adams who left last year. They have a bad running game and he could help.

  11. I could see 3 DLs being taken. Maybe not full-on DTs but guys who can play the 3 & 5 to give the team an actual rotation.

I think that price the Falcons paid was awful steep. True, with no CBA, next year's picks have less value than they would otherwise, but two firsts, a second, and two fourths is a whole lot to give up for a receiver, I think. He's got to put up Calvin Johnson type numbers right out of the gate to justify that. The Falcons aren't just one receiver away from winning the Super Bowl, after all.

I agree, I thought they were weak at D-Line and other parts of their Defense. If this would have been AJ Green I might have been more okay with the deal, but Julio is honestly another Randy Moss. I don't know if he will be what Moss was to teams when he was on his game, he has the physical tools, but he reminds me of Moss when it comes to "I'm not gonna block this play, it's not even coming my way. I am not going to go hard this play, it's not my play." He doesn't always go full throttle which is not what Mike Smith teaches.

Also I now don't think we see another WR go until late 2nd to 3rd, maybe longer. I just don't like any of the rest of them before that.

AND WOW Jake Locker. Listen Jake is one of my favorite QB's in this class and if he can get that accuracy under control he could be great for the Titians, but I didn't see him at 10. Does this mean Gabbert goes 12 to the Vikes!!

  12. They're not going to be able to keep both backs.

We'll get 2-3 defensive tackles in the draft and sign a couple more once the league year starts. Also remember the Williams Wall breaks once a new CBA is signed (Pat becomes a UFA). Wouldn't be the first time an aging vet signed on to groom his replacement. Cullen Jenkins is out there too (and he can play the 3 and the 5).

For Carolina they could keep both, not for long but at least for this season. Williams has only played 5 seasons and the way the CBA talks have gone that would mean Williams is a RFA until a new CBA comes out. So they might only be teammates for a year or two (depending if the NFL Owners get their 2 franchise tags per team).

I doubt you guys draft 3 DT. I could see 2 and then 2 vets that come in until the rookies are available.

  13. I want the Titant to take the TCU QB... I think that guy could be a good game manager and basically just hand it off to CJ while making a few decent passes.

Dalton is considered the most NFL ready OB. I think he could do well as a Kerry Collins type of player. He can win games for you, but really he is there to hand the ball to CJ (and hopefully another RB to help him). You have Britt and maybe you resign Moss (doubtful). You have a system that works for QB's like Dalton. Ponder would also do well in your system.

  14. I will say people playing Madden are going to slobber all over the remote to play with the Panthers. I think the Panthers will have a package where you see Newton, Williams, and Stewart on the field at the same time that is an option type of package.

That wont be in the game this year but next year.

Also there seems to be a pattern that two good QB's go in a row then a bad one. I think Stafford outside of injuries has shown flashes. Will Newton follow that trend or will he buck it. Honestly listening to Gruden talk about what Newton needs to fix scares me. That's what 6-7-URFA need to work on most 1st round QB's have flaws but that was a lot he needs to work on in my opinion.

  15. I hope the Bills don't take Von Miller. I will take anyone over him.

Even if he becomes a star, there will be a guy picked in the picks behind him who also becomes a star who would fit us better. I'm not saying Shawne Merriman is going to be anything, or that Aaron Maybin will be better then the nothing he has been so far but I'd give both of these guys a chance. If we are going to lose anyways, we might as well see what Maybin has.

A QB, or Defensiveline man would make me happy.

(I don't really want Gabbert though but I will take him, rather wait to 2nd round for Ponder.

Maybin hasn't shown anything in his career he has numbers closer to Vernon Gholston then someone who has a sack. I don't even think he's started and he was supposed to be one of those players that could play DE in 4 down line man or OLB in a 3-4 scheme.

Von Miller would be a better fit for you of Peterson. Again though I am not a fan of Buffalo, but you are so for you go get Peterson or AJ Green. I think Ponder could be a good QB if given time to develop and him throwing to AJ Green could help that.

  16. will the 2009 draft go down as the best draft of WR's?

Julian Edelman, Sammie Stroughter, Jonny Knox, Austin Collie, Louis Murphy, Mike Thomas, Deon Butler, Heyward-Bay (if he can stay healthy and get a QB), Crabtree, Maclin, Harvin, Nicks, Britt, Robiskie, Massaquoi, Mike Wallace.

I know some of these names haven't proven much, but that is still a bunch of WR's who are contributing to their teams.
