  1. The next season has started, the NFL told teams to not make moves which involve players.

change that, Players can't be traded yet because tomorrow the NFL will get word if the next season started. Tomorrow morning though Player can go back to working out with coaches and others.

  2. I think sitting is best. I think that is a reason John Fox named Orton the starter in Denver. To see Tebow's fire and if he has what it takes to take away the spot from Orton. Also if Tebow does push Orton and Orton does keep it this year then Tebow can learn this year Fox's offense come in for mop up duty and show you what he's got.
  3. That's the thing, right now (I believe) teams cannot move players so any trade for Kolb will come after the draft which would make it a future #1 so Philly could end up with a high pick next year. Then again, you could see a situation where Minnesota (for example) selects a player with the intent of trading him to Philly post draft for Kolb.

The next season has started, the NFL told teams to not make moves which involve players.

  4. The fact that he has shown flashes of being a great QB. Is he worth a 1st round pick? No. Will someone offer Philly a #1? Probably, just on the chance that he turns out like Schaub did when he went to Houston.

but what type of first are we talking about then. Early like Bills, Arizona, Vikings, Mid like who ever needs a QB, or late for again whoever needs a QB?

  5. Honestly, I can but I can't answer that. I think because he still young, when he filled in before this year he looked great, but when he played this year he wasn't great. I like Kolb but would I use a 1 round pick on him. After thinking about it. No, I wouldn't. He a 2round pick easy but not a first

I could see a second, he worked with Reid who does well with QB's, but a first for a guy drafted in the second (high second) who hasn't shown the ability to keep a starting job and remain healthy.

  6. http://www.sescoops.com/wrestling-news/wwe/cm-punk-leaving-wwe/

So if CM is mad because he's not getting a push is it really WWE's fault? He got hurt and came back instantly in the Cena vs Nexus feud and then went into Orton vs CM Punk feud. Those are Raw's top two babyfaces and you are facing them. You aren't going to be given a title shot because Miz is a heel as well. Plus the WWE doesn't like to push wrestlers whose contract is running out and you aren't resigning.

CM is money to WWE and Vince and company see that. Again though, you should be upset for not getting a push when you can't win the title with Miz holding it and you are in a feud or were with a top baby face.

  7. No, the first time he hurt his shoulder it was the result of scrambling around for 30 seconds at the end of the Browns game. He was buying time for his receivers to get open and it's just hard for any oline to keep it's blocks up that long. He threw the ball, but was left wide open and got hit hard after a long time scrambling with the football.

The second injury came because Peppers just straight up flew by the oline and whacked the hell out of him. Oline got beat, it was ugly. The fact he injured his shoulder again is not a good sign though.

And the third injury was because he flat out rushed his rehab and it was inevitable he was going to re-injure himself tbh. The hit on him was nothing really, he was just kind of tossed to the ground, but he had been wincing and grabbing his shoulder since he came back and it was only a matter of time.

It really was just 2 shoulder injuries, with a third stint on the dl because he rushed rehab. Still the injuries are anything but reissuring and us Lions fans are going to be stuck holding our breath every time he drops back until he completes a season. Sucks, I really like him, more than any other QB I've seen in Honolulu blue and silver (which honestly doesn't say much seeing as Bobby Layne is way way before my time) .

lol great read in the last paragraph.

Thank you for clearing that up about his injuries and you are right shoulder injuries are scary for QB's. Sam did the same thing his Junior year as well so he might have a Bradford come back ;)

  8. Also I know this is for college, but outside of the USC punishment does it seem like the NCAA has really relaxed it's punishments. It seems like they are very easy with some people then every now and then they drop the hammer on a big program to make it's power felt then relax again.

USC had O.J Mayo and Reggie Bush mess up, outside of that I believe they were pretty clean.

OSU had 5 players and a head coach sell OSU items that they got for free. Those 5 and coach were suspended the first 5 games of the season. The 5 players were not suspended for the bowl game (why NCAA would have lost money probably) and the first 5 games outside of Miami aren't that big.

Alabama players sold books, Cam Newton's dad got into trouble, any other player would have been told "Hey you can't play until we figure this out" instead Cam was allowed to play and it all came that his dad did everything and Cam had no knowledge, which I didn't get because if it involved a player and money whether player knew or didnt know he should be found ineligible to play. Bush didn't take money (yes he knew about it, but he didn't take it) his family took the money. So now there are reports that their is tape recordings of Cecil Netwon talking with an Auburn Alum about money for Newton and that Cam knew about it. Now these tapes are being authenticated and the NCAA is keeping this very quite.

Just makes me wonder what's going to happen with the Ducks and Auburn if the rumors are true and how the NCAA will react. This is the time if the head people in the NCAA want to cut this crap is to drop the hammer on these two programs (again if it's true) as well as OSU and keep a strangle hold. I can't remember the last time we saw so many big players being busted and getting in trouble like we have seen the last 3 years

  9. Also anyone else think Patrick Patterson will be a BEAST!!!! Most Pro ready player right now in the draft, will also be the best player in this draft in 5 year. He has all the tools to be great.

I think it's between him and AJ Green.

The thing that scares me against Peterson is how good will he be against the likes of Andre Johnson, Rodney White, Fitz, and other top tier WR.

He didn't look impressive covering AJ Green in 08 and 09. This year Julio Jones had 5 catches for 151 I believe and then they switched him over to Maze who burned him (and I mean made him look stupid burn) with a nice move and speed for a big gain. Peterson does great against lesser WR's and this years WR's in the SEC weren't that great outside of Jones and Green. Also the QB's in the SEC outside of Mallet and Newton weren't really the same as they were before. So I think the big question is will Peterson be that NFL ready QB or did he get helped by a weak offensive year in the SEC?

He's not a ballhawk at CB like other CB's (i.e Janoris Jenkins and others CB) but he does cover well. Again though does he have what it takes to be that shut your number 1 WR down. if he fails at CB I could see a move to FS where he would excel.

  10. I think Newton could be a very good NFL QB. But I believe that whoever selects him (Carolina) has to be willing to let him sit a good portion if not all of the upcoming season. Have him sit and learn how to be a NFL QB. If that happens and he doe shave the desire to be the best, then yes I think he can be a very good NFL QB.

Here is a question, if Carolina thinks (thought) Clausen is their guy why would they select Newton? Wouldn't it make sense to maybe pick AJ Green #1 and give Clausen some help? Or maybe Von Miller or Marcel Dareus considering Rivera is a defensive guy?

I am not sold of Clausen. I think he was overhyped because of Weis and honestly he was never a good QB in college. He had nice numbers his final year, but his first two he struggled. I don't know what Clausen has done this offseason to improve, but he reminds me a lot of a mix of Dion Sanders and Ryan Leaf

He has Dion's flare came into to college in a limo and Ryan Leaf's hype (hell he was supposed to be a top 5 to 10 pick. and fell to the Panthers after a QB who had more questions in Tebow. I don't think Clausen has what it takes and neither do a lot of Panthers fans from what I read on their fan board.

Funny thing is I think this years QB class is deep, but I think they have a lot more questions then answers.

Last year it was Bradford, Tebow, Clausen, Newton

Bradford was can he recover from the injury and be better than before

Tebow was how will he do under center and the throw motion

Clausen was he's small in frame and how will he handle the speed of the game

McCoy was his size and if he can take the pounding playing the same style he did in college.

Bradford was great, Tebow has concerns but people also saw the work ethic and drive to be something better, Clausen still scares people, and McCoy is most likely the starter for the Browns.

Cam and company to me have so many more concerns than this group and not enough positives to calm those concerns. Again though I still see a 5 to 6 QB's who become solid QB's or Solid Backups and never doubt the addition of a solid QB it's always nice to know you have a skilled backup ask the Pats, Steelers, Falcons (when they had Shuab and when they lost Vick)

  11. Am I the only one thinking Cam Newton will never be an elite QB? I say average at best but I have been wrong before with a QB.

I said it before, I think he might do well behind a great O-Line, but outside of that I don't see it. At Auburn his offense was look for your first read, maybe your second then break away for a run and Auburn had a pretty nice O-Line as well.

I just don't think he's going to grasp the playbook like others. The reason I am still high on Tebow and McCoy is because they are smart guys who understand football. Cam to me is one of those guys who has gotten to this point solely on his athleticism. I hope he does well and makes us all eat crow, but I think he is two big of a risk/reward player at number 1. If the Panthers take him and he looks like Vince Young you could be great for a year and then teams will learn how to stop him. The Bucs were one of the best teams at stopping Michael Vick in his time. Vick went to jail and learned the game and worked harder. How hard is Cam really willing to work to take that step.

  12. I agree with everything you said. I do however think the Lions offensive line is under rated. Our center is small and doesn't get a good push when you need 1 yard. Jeff Backus is very good but every now and then (every few games) will give up an ugly sack or tackle for loss out of nowhere. Gosder Cherilus at RT is decent. I could see the Lions drafting Pouncy and I would be happy with it because at Guard he could help Dom at center.

2 of Stafford's 3 injuries in 2 years were him falling forward trying to pick up positive yardage. The 1 sack was with Julius Pepper getting away with a semi close late hit if I remember right.

But was he trying to pick up positive yards because the O-Line broke down to quickly? The avg QB has like 3.2 seconds to get rid of the ball. If you can give a QB 4 seconds (which the great QB's get like Manning, Brady, Rivers) then you don't see those injuries rack up.

Honestly I think Stafford is a good QB, but after that first injury I was like crap is he going to be one of those injury prone great talents? After 2 years now the battle between the QB's is hard to figure out who is one, two, and three.

I would personally put Freeman 1st because of how he turned around the Bucs and his stats after one season, he works hard and busted his butt with his top two WR's being a 2nd and 4th round pick, is slot WR is a 7th and that 2nd didn't show much his first year. He has 6 4th quarter comebacks and did a lot this year with a O-Line that would pieced together this year with players who weren't expected to contribute

2nd would be Sanchez his numbers don't look that great, but he's done a lot for his team in the playoffs. Also how good who Sanchez be without that team and that O-Line?

3rd Stafford injuries, plus when he is on the field they still aren't winning. Again like the Bucs when they were drafted they were seen as the future and not a guy who traded up for because you believe you are a QB away from contending. The Bucs and Lions both needed franchise QB's for most who have never seen one. Freeman has worked out so far and Stafford could be next.

I honestly think Stafford (once healthy) and Freeman will always be the two best of this class. I'm not saying Sanchez couldn't contend, but what Stafford and Freeman jumped to in there second season (Stafford hurt, but his numbers were still pretty nice in the couple of games he played) was impressive.

  13. Here is another, everyone has the Bucs picking a DE or LB in the first round. The Bucs still have a lot of holes they need to fill and the DE are deep in this draft so I wont be surprise if they get Freeman another weapon or protection before they draft a DE.
  14. Most guys who go back to school from that situation hurt their stock. Hopefully the guy doesn't get hurt next year. If so I could see him being a late 1st round pick or early 2nd round pick next year.

So much can happen in a year though.

I thought that to, but look at a player like Bradford. We all though he killed his stock the moment he got hurt and he did nothing but improve it I guess. Gerald McCoy was the same way he was going to be a top 10 pick then went back for his junior redshirt year and went 3rd.

Some of these guys don't go back just because they want another year blah blah. For Luck I think is was the fact what's going to happen with the Lockout and also I could go in next year be the number 1 pick again and be more valuable because my biggest competition will be John Brantley, Matt Barkley, and Terrelle Pryor.

For Bradford if he would have gone out in 09 instead of 10 he would have been one of 4 1st round QB's instead of one of 2 and a no contest best QB in draft. McCoy if he would have came out in 09 would have been on of many DT and D-Line players. Instead he got a little screwed because Suh had a monster year, but McCoy still made more money for staying one more year and was a higher pick.

  15. Kevin Smith was not fast and was known to go down on contact. He never broke a tackle. Detroit cut him a few weeks ago I believe. Jahvid Best is really fast though and our #1 back these days. Last year he looked good but got injured.

I personally wouldn't take Ingram. I feel like Detroit can get a big back late in the draft. Recent history shows you can get good quality role player running backs late in the draft.

I wish Detroit would run a 3-4 defense but I don't think that will ever happen so we are limited when it comes to drafting linebackers and dlineman at times. I think if Bruce Carter is there in the 2nd round we will pick him up and he will be really good for us though.

Again I wasn't sure on Smith completely. I know he had a nice rookie year and then battled injuries. I saw a lot of him at UCF and he always impressed me. Also Detroit has a horrible (from what I remember) O-Line and you still need a lot of help there as well. Stafford needs to be kept upright and so does Best (atleast behind the line) So you guys could also look for O-Line help Pouncey could be a player. He struggled at Center this year, but let's be frank teams aren't looking for him to snap the ball. Even after that bad senior year he is still the top Guard and G/C if the Cowboys don't pick him (which I don't think they would) he would do well in Detroit and be a solid player. His brother made the Pro Bowl as a rookie and many believe Mike is better than Maurkice.

I also think Mike might be playing smoke screens for himself and I do think he wants to go to Pitt with his brother, but Pitt picks 31 so unless they trade up that aint happing. If Pouncey falls to the 20 pick I would love for the Bucs to scoop him up. Joesph is a great RG and putting Mike of the opposite side would be nice :D

  16. Also does anyone think the 9ers might either try to throw this year with Smith as their QB and wait till next year for Luke to come out and see if they can get that Magic again????? I'm not saying teams do this, but Luck should have been the number 1 pick and San Fran is close to where he is now.
  17. We have the big guy Sammie Lee Hill who is our 3rd DT and a pure beast. The guy was the strongest DT 2 years ago coming out of college. He was from a small AA college though. He could be really good in a couple of years as a run stuffer.

Corey Williams is our other DT. He is really good in a 4-3 which is why he sucked for the Browns a couple years ago who were running a 3-4 and tried him at DE.

What do you think of Kerrigan from Purdue coming to Detroit at DE? Vanden Bosch just had neck surgery and is 33. I think this will be his last good year personally. That's why I want a good young DE to play next to Suh.

Honestly I like Kerrigan to a degree. Many don't have him going as high as Detroit, but again your Coach is a D-Line guy and he knows how to find people so he might see something else. If Prince isn't there I would say trade down were Kerrigan or A. Smith from Mizz could be taken.

Kerrigan though is a polished 3 year starter at Purdue. He though could be a weird pick. He could be a Jared Allen type of player who people see as maybe not getting it right away and then blowing up on people or someone who could be avg 7 sacks a game. I don't see a lot of middle ground for him and I personally don't see the growth there like I see for other DE/LB (if you want that 3-4 hybird)

I was joking around with someone about Detroit picking Julio Jones or Mark Ingram. Ingram could be that big back you need (still I like Kevin Smith) or Jones could be opposite of Calvin and make a scary 1-2 punch OMG two of Georgia biggest Rivals and now Stafford is throwing to them lol. Again though, Detroit has a bunch of holes so there are a odd pick. I think they don't need to look at what they need and better who is the best player. If it's Julio Jones then take him, if it's Prince then do it. I thought you guys were actually higher in the draft so I doubt you'll see the two DT.

  18. I want my Redskins to pick someone to help the offense, the defence isn't too bad since that was the first year in the 4-3, I want Newton if he's still around at #10 if not AJ Green, Juilo Jones, ore Mark Ingram I would ike to have. If they go on the Defense side I would like the them to pick Robert Quinn.

Redskins are a hard team to predict in this draft. While they had a bad season, they have the talent to contend in a heartbeat. I think Cam Jordan, Julio Jones, a QB if anyone but Cam is there.

Green wont be there and Mark Ingram would be nice, but Mike is known for his great running backs who really are good. If they do I see it in the 2nd or later.

There are talented running backs as well. Mikel Leshoure is a big running back and he has nice hands. His speed isn't bad but don't expect him to out run a CB.

Taiwan Jones, when I see him he screams Mike Shannahan type of back he's quick and I watched a couple of his games and he had nice runs.

DeMarco Murray, Good, quick, big running back who might have fallen for a couple reasons. He runs high and is injury prone, but AP was the same way coming out. No I am not saying he is the next AP, but AP had the same knock on him coming out. Difference is Murray wasn't someone who took peoples breath away in Norman like AP. He's talented and Mike could get great numbers out of him if he falls to him in the 4.

All together this year's running back class is pretty deep. Mike will find his next running back here.

also I was thinking what about a trade between the Bengals and Redskins, McNabb for Carson lol

  19. I think my Detroit Lions will draft Prince Amukamara. If he is off the clock then Da'Quan Bowers may be the pick. I'd rather have Bowers personally. If only the Lions could somehow magically get Patrick Peterson though I would be extremely happy.

To me the Lions offense should be better just by Stafford being healthy. So I say draft defense. There isn't a linebacker that would be worth the 14th pick so I say get an elite pass rusher or great corner. If that isn't there you trade down to get more picks and hope you get a good linebacker and a good corner.

That's how I would treat the draft from the Lions spot.

I'd honestly stay away from Bowers. I think he is probably the best pure pass rusher in the draft, but those knees of his really scare me. He went from a sure fire top 5 pick to a lot of people to maybe going to the Bucs and lower. Also he is from Clemson which has in the past put out high DE quality players who just dont translate well to the NFL, kind of like how you don't draft a Penn State running back high.

I do like Prince and I think he would have been the third best CB if Janoris Jenkins would have came out (we'll probably see him in the supp. draft now because of being kicked off the Florida team). Prince though could follow a fellow teammate and Big 12 Defensive Player of the year up to Detroit. He's got the right age to me for a CB as well (21) because they know the game but there is still room for a good DB coach to come in and fix bad habits.

Also I don't remember who your other DT is, but you could add one of the two DT's in this class if stuff falls right. One of the two plus Suh would be awesome with Schwartz

  20. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=6437202

this kind of surprised me for a couple of reasons. First Smart was hand chosen by the new ownership to replace Don Nelson, Second they had a 10 game improvement, 3rd I really think they are one Defensive guy away from be extremely dangerous. I was joking around with someone the other day that if I was Dwight Howard I would work a deal with the Warriors if I was going to leave the Magic, because honestly the Warriors with the Dwight (you can even get rid of Lee) would be one of the best teams in the league with Curry, Ellis, and Howard.

Anyways, I think Smart will get another chance, I liked watching the Warriors this year. I don't know where he would land though

  21. I think the worry for Carolina is that they are going to look within their division and see Drew Brees, Matt Ryan, and Josh Freeman and feel pressured in getting that franchise QB to compete with these guys.

Unlike you I think this years QB class is pretty poor. I don't like Mallet at all, just don't think he makes good decisions with the football and I have no faith in Gabbert and like Cam even less. My favorite QB prospect is Colin Kaepernick actually, and If I were Carolina or Buffalo I'd wait until round 2 and hope that Kaepernick or Andrew Dalton fell to the 2nd round (Kaepernick is probably a given for round 2 but I've seen a bit of love for Dalton so who knows).

I really do think this could be a great QB class. I don't think it's going to put the level out that the past two did with Bradford, McCoy, Tebow, Stafford, Sanchez, and Freeman. i see this one putting out 6 solid starters/backups. To me Ryan Mallet is my favorite QB, I saw him in action and even though he makes mistakes he extremely intelligent. Cam scares me because they simplified the offense for him at Auburn and I understand he was only there for a year, but to simplify and offense as much as they did and how lost he looked at times with Jon Gruden amazed me.

Also I like Jake Locker as the 2nd QB in the class. I don't know much about Blaine, but Chase McDaniels had a great career at Mizz and he will probably never be nothing more than a backup and his biggest knock I believe was his size. I know Blaine is taller, but what I did see from him didn't impress me much. Plus I hate three year QB's I don't think they go into the game as prepared. I know there are QB's out there with only 3 years that were successful, but I know the top 4 QB's in the league now (Peyton, Brady, Brees, Rivers) and there have been a crap load of failed 4 year starters as well. Again though the failed QB's with 3 years David Carr I believe left after his Soph. redshirt year, Russell, Tim Couch, Akili Smith (he reminds me of what Cam Newton might become, he was actually a 4 year college player, but he only started 11 career games in the NCAA)
