  1. What has really started bothering me about the MLB playoffs lately is the fact that its a completely different game. They have so many breaks between games now to make TV happy that the playoffs are not even close to the regular season. It seems most teams always get to start the next series with their #1 pitcher well rested. It really doesnt reward teams with a deep pitching staff at all.

in the long run it's all going to come down to money. How much more money are we going to make by adding to the playoffs. If it's enough (which is probably is) they will add.

  2. What are your thoughts on the added round to the MLB playoffs?

I personally hate it, hell they do not even want to cut back on the number of games in the regular season. Now I understad that money is the reason why they want to do this but they are taking an already long season and tacking on what three or five extra games. And when will the season end?

I really do not want to be watching Baseball on Thanksgiving.

It depends. I love the wildcard because it adds more excitement to the end of the year. I am a big believer that MLB, NBA, NHL, and College Basketball season doesn't start till finale month of the regular season. They have long seasons and people really only care about their playoffs. If that one round is going to add to the excitement that the wildcard provides then I am all for it, but will this mean that Albert Pujols will become Mr. November/beginning of December?

One thing I find funny is they say that they want to take teams away from baseball (which I am for in a lot of sports). They are saying teams like Marlins, Rays, etc leaving and I think those aren't the teams to take. If the Rays can get a new ball park in an area that isn't a retirement area and place them in a more central location of Hillsborough County then I think you could see the Rays avg what the Yankee do a night. Florida Fans (outside of Jacksonville) are really good about attending winning teams with nice stadiums. Marlins haven't because well honestly Pro Player Stadium isn't a baseball park and it's not in the greatest location. The Trop is also in a horrible location and near more people from up north then people who grew up here.

I would think teams like Blue Jays, Brewers (never happen as long as Selig is in office) Royals, Pirates, Oakland (unless they get a new stadium), Washington (wont happen with that new stadium), Astros, being more worthy of being taken out.

    Mainly the Royals and Pirates.

  3. Well they said he played very shallow along with most of the other players of the Deadball Era. I really do not know much about that time in baseball, so I am not really sure how he managed to get such a high number.

if it was the deadball era then I could understand. Pretty much it was a time when pitchers were just bonkers good. Each team had starters that could post under 3.50 ERA. Speed was king back then and fundamentals were huge (bunts, stealing, defense)

  4. So I know people have been going on about this for weeks, but I think the worse thing the Panthers could do in this years draft is draft Cam 1st Overall. I think if they were smart they would try to trade down and get someone else. This years QB class is amazing and you have a bunch of QB's that can truly start in the NFL. I don't know what to think of Cam he impresses me at times and then kills me at times. I still think he will be the next Reggie Bush (someone is going to come out and say they paid him and he knew it). Also Carolina has a great run game and are starting to rebuild their WR depth. I think Ryan Mallet could do really well there.

Also when did a college player not knowing about what the school and it's father were doing still not make him involved like the NCAA said Cam wasn't. Was it just because he was so popular?

  5. Man the Orioles did so great against the Yankees in that weekend series.

I was watching the Baseball Network and they had a Prime Nine show talking about the best Center Fielders of all-time. And they put Tris Speaker on the list. One thing I found interesting about a stat he had was he made 449 career outfield assists! I think it is safe to say that is a record that will not be broken. They also talked about how in one game he made a double play by catching the ball and then running over to second base to record the second out of the double play.

I have only read a little about Tris, but from what I read Tris didn't have the strongest arm and many ran on him which could lead to that high number. Hell I remember one year Manny had like 8 OF assist.

  6. You will never get an arguement out of me in regards to Tim Duncan. I am a huge fan of his and I always love to see the Spurs do well (Especially if it comes at the expense of the Lakers and Phil.:D).

SA is the perfect team in the NBA to model your team after. They build through the draft and even though the usually pick at the end of the draft the continue to hit on their picks.

Also this is just word of mouth, but a co-worker today mentioned that there is an architect out there that wants to build a retractable roof stadium for an NBA team so there can be games played outside. Now at first I don't believe this will happen, but I think that would be extremely cool. Living in Florida there is nothing like a great summer night. Watching a basketball game in Florida at night would be cool.

  7. Hard to argue with that but I think Kevin McHale and Kevin Garnett have to at least be considered in that conversation. And I am not saying that as a Celtics fan, it is just my opinion that they could be in that talk as well.

he said Kidd and Stockton were the best PG to (excluding Magic because he was a hybird) I couldn't believe he left out Nash. Nash hasn't been the best for his who career and he got screwed because his numbers were helped by the offense, but Nash is one of the best passers ever. I could see KG being in there, but Tim to me is the best because of his numbers and 4 Rings with a chance for more. I would choose Bob Pettit second though. Pettit played for 11 years and he was great each year.

  8. I fear alot of divas/secondary characters moving (Ricardo, Hornswoggle, etc). This should also give a good foreteller of who's gonna get ****canned next. (looking at you Nexus)

What does Horny do know a days. Is he still just the comedy act. Also like you said the supp. draft is usually for people who have gone stale or have nothing so the move them and usually cut them.

I also marked when Cena went back to Raw because Christian is pretty much the new champ. I am happy for him.

  9. So Charles Barkley was on the Dan Patrick show this morning and he said Tim Duncan and him were the best PF in the history of the game with Karl coming in 3rd. He said the only reason Karl had numbers like he did was because of Stockton.

He also said Rondo is extremely talented, but the only reason he is considered top 5 PG is because he plays with so much talent. He said Rondo is the PG you want if you have scorers on your team, but not the guy you want to be your leader which is why he isn't in his top 5.

  10. So I'm rewatching Psych from the beginning(on the fifth season now) and I really have to say that "An Evening With Mr Yang" and "Mr. Yin Presents..." are seriously two of the best written things ever put on television.

I think most USA shows do really well at putting seasons together. Psych puts some of the better season finales on.

One thing I think makes a tv series great (and often times can lead to it's failure) is a series that goes into a season with an overall plan. Shows like Burn Notice, Supernatural, Lost, V, Fringe, Sons of Anarchy, etc.

These shows have actual plans coming into their shows and to me it makes them exciting knowing every show (for the most part) has something to do with the series main story arch. These shows have season arch but they also have a main story arch that is even bigger to the series.

  11. Not sure if anyone has commented on this yet but does anyone else hate Dolph Zigglers new look (Hair). His old hair style really set him apart from everyone else in my opinion not that hair is everything but now that his hair is very generic he just looks like a normal guy where if I were a new WWE fan just watching it for the first time I would probably pass him off as someone I thought wasn't very good when that is not the case at all. Does anyone else feel this way or am I the only one?

I don't like it and from what he said neither does he.

  12. Of course it does, all stable wars are alike in certain ways. Having been on national TV since the 80's, it astounds me that some people seem to expect that the wrestling business only feature brand new and never before used storylines... I mean, it's unavoidable that they do things that has more or less been done before.

It's not that, Eric and Hulk are trying to recapture the Magic that NWO did for WCW and it isn't working.

  13. My bad, it doesn't take long for me to mix up guys from the DC and Marvel universe. It's like they try to do that on purpose or something.

Good point, since Mary Elizabeth Winstead (who is smoking hot) did that dumb Scotty vs. The World movie. The only thing that intrigued me was her look in that movie.

Interesting to note too that she's done two other projects that were either directly or indirectly linked to Kurt Russell before filming The Thing. I don't know if it's just coincidence or not but I doubt it, he seems like a guy that likes to help out other actors/actresses.

    YA he does! :p

  14. The playoffs are underway and this place ain't booming.

Gotta say I appreicate Paul for stepping up his game and playing like a champ. D-Rose as always is off the chain but I'm afraid he's gonna start to get superstar treatment like the others. With the way he drives up to the basket so often, it may be the case.

Speaking of questionable calls... poor Nuggets. Everyone and their mother saw that was a bad call.

I agree, poor Nugs. Now stop crying about it and move forward. I understand it sucks when a ref blows a call that can cost you a game, but growing up I was always told one thing no matter who my coach was "Don't let the ump decide the game". Pretty much meaning limit your mistakes so the umps don't make a bad decision.

Also who does everyone think will be MVP. I believe it should be Howard and not because I am a Magic fan. I really looked into the battle between Rose and Howard, without Howard the Magic would probably have missed the playoffs. Without Rose the Bulls were still a solid team and more than likely made the playoffs.

Now I think this year is one of the harder choices because Rose did it without Noah and Boozer at times, but he still usually had a comb. of Boozer, Deng, and Rose or Noah, Deng, and Rose on the court. Rose improved greatly this year and should people a lot.

With Howard it's clear though, when he isn't in the game they lose. He dominated the Hawks down low in game one, but he truly has no one around him that stepped up. Howard is now getting the hack a shaq treatment, but the difference is he doesn't have anyone on that team who can step up and takeover. Howard posted career highs in PPG, Missed highest in REB by .1, career high in STL. I think what hurts Howard is his FT, if he could hit those better we are talking about a guy who probably could have avg 26 ppg this year.

Again I see the argument for both player. I personally believe Howard should be the MVP, but I can understand if Rose got it.

Also Adelman did a wonderful job with the Rockets. Like he said he came to coach McGrady and Yao and neither were really healthy. He still did one hell of a job for them and if Stan Van ever got fired he'd be the guy I want :p

  15. There are many other indy films and lesser plugged films that look to steal the Oscar in 2012 (which I can't think of at the moment, but would be glad to discuss). People forget that even though the blockbusters are cool and profitable doesn't necessarily mean their candidates for Best Film.

Having said that, I do look forward to a lot of different movies and not just some of the summer blockbusters.

    • Super 8 looks like it can be a great film to show darker elements that Speilberg might not have been able to pull off in ET.
    • Cowboys and Aliens looks great especially with Favreau directing it.
    • Immortals, coming out in November, looks awesome. Just look at the pic of Rourke, it made me mark out that something can be WAY better than Clash of the Titans remake (even though I'm quite a fan of Sam Worthington).
    • The Thing looks like it could be an excellent prequel to the John Carpenter remake in the 80s. Four years in development must mean something cool.
    • Warrior looks badass with Tom Hardy finally getting the spotlight he deserves! This movie could even top The Fighter which might be hard to do.
    • The Debt looks interesting with a mix of veteran (Helen Mirren) and rookie (Jessica Chastain-who plays a younger Mirren) screen stars. This pick may or may not have anything to do with my fanboyism of Sam Worthington ;)
    • Captain America looks like it could finally give Marvel a run for their money since DC has been weak in the movie-making business compared to Marvel. (Besides Green Lantern of course) I love the Cap and think Chris Evans is good casting for him especially since I heard he really wanted the part.

I could probably go on and on but I'll just stop there. Honestly, the movie I'm looking forward to the must in the future is Terminator 5. I know a lot of people bash the crap out of the Terminator: Salvation but I thought that was an awesome movie especially with some of the minor details, like how Connor gets the scar on his face, and with the new terminators.

You could say they could make the crappiest Terminator movie ever for the next one but I'll love it anyways because I'm such a geek for it. Still haven't even gotten around to finding the rare comic books for Terminator but yeah....

That's all I gotta to say...

Not always, sometime it could be because of reshoots or other projects the actors were working on.

  16. True and I am the same way, I love movies (Hell I Minored in Film, not that it was a wise choice to do so.) but crap is crap. When I see bad movies like Sucker Punch (Which was really bad, and all the hot chicks in the world running around in mini-skirts could do nothing to save it.) or the various new Transformers movies, I get angry. Angry at the writes that wrote that crap, angry at the studio for green lighting that crap, and most of all angry at myself for paying ten dollars for the chance to watch that crap.:D

And yes I knew going in that Sucker Punch was not going to be some great movie on par with The Godfather. However, I thought it might be better than what it was.

Movie studios only care if the movie flops. Transformers hasn't so I doubt they care :p .

But I also think that's a huge problem with video game and toy game movies. If the writer wasn't a fan of the stuff before, how in the blue hell is he going to write a script that will catch the attention of the fans who want to see it. My favorite thing is I don't think Michael Bay is that bad of a director. Many people bash him and say he sucks and all he wants is explosions..... Well DUH! that's his M.O. J.J Abrams is suspense, Nolan is a mind bender, Scorsese is drama/old style, Spielberg is alien's.

Bay hasn't always been about explosions, but the bad acting and horrible script for Transformers wasn't his fault. You can only do so much with what you have.

  17. You liked Rob Zombie's Halloween 2? I thought it was pure and utter crap. He did a great job with the first movie remake however, like I said his version of Halloween 2=Crap.:D

I have high hopes for Rise of the Apes. Like you said the last remake sucked, so I hope this one is more like the 1970's version. Funny thing is they were playing Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (which this new movie was based on) on HBO last week and I was thinking how awesome this would be if they made a newer version of that film.

As far as Transformers go, those movies should just stop being made. They are so bad, my childhood dies each time they make a new Transformers movie.:D

I'm one of those people who just like movies. I see where they are bad and stuff, but I just love movies. It takes you away from life and puts you in a fantasy world even if for 2 hours. I just finished watching Battle for L.A. and damn that was a good movie.

  18. goose bumps.

In two weeks Summer blockbusters pretty much kick off. We get Fast 5 4-29-11,

    Thor 5-6-2011

Priest 5-13-11 (not as big, but I am excited)

    Pirates 4 5-20-11,

Hangover Part 2, Kung Fu Panda 2 5-26-11

    X-Men 6-3-2011

    Super 8 6-10-11

    Green Lantern 6-17-10

    Transformers 7-1-11

    Harry Potter 8 7-15-11

    Captain America 7-22-11

Cowboys and Aliens 7-29-11 (honestly the one I am looking forward to the most. Most of these have the high budget and big fan base, but I love Jon as a director)

Smurfs 8-3-11 (hey I watched them as a kid and I have a kid and niece who want to see them)

Rise of the Apes 8-5-11 (please be better then the last one)

    Conan the Barbarian 8-19-11

    Moneyball 9-23-11

There are a bunch more to. Rum Diary comes out this year which as Depp in it and I have been waiting for that for a couple of years now. Of course Paranormal Activity 3 comes out. ChromeSkull: Laid to Rest  . Halloween 3, I am excited because Rob Zombie really (to me) gave Meyers depth other than I kill. Puss in Boots, what I thought the last three sherk's sucked, but I loved Puss in Boots. 11-11-11 okay I bought into the promo's. Twlight :D I am more happy because then one more and we can get out of the kiss and hug vampires and get back to the Robert Downey Jr. version of lestat  . Sherlock Holmes 2 YES!!! Mission impossible 4 comes out to close out the year along with The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (read the book it is worth it)

Overall this looks to be a great year for movies :D

Here is a link for people who want to see what is coming out.

  19. With Edge gone, WWE is now paying for not establishing anyone. See now on Smackdown you have Del Rio, Christian, Rhodes, Mysterio, Big Show, Barrett, Kingston and Kane. Guys who are good but not have had that main event push(except Kane, Show and Barrett for like four months).

However, this is the time to really start push Kingston, Barrett, Rhodes and others gradually.

Just because someone doesn't hold a title doesn't mean that haven't and cant be that guy.

Show and Kane are old and would be more of trans. champs now. Rey has been there, Christian is over with the fans and Rio is probably going to win at Extreme Rules. Kingston hasn't been pushed like that because in my opinion he lacks a little on the Mic. SD is the second brand though and if anything they can move a person from Raw over to SD to take over a feud with Del Rio. I can't remember either the last time WWE built a PPV off a SD mainevent. Hell Del Rio was the Rumble winner and him and Edge went on first.

  20. My point is besides Luke, do any of the other guys/girls scream main event over Matt Cross? In my opinion if you can't wrestle at all, no amount of charisma will see you become a main eventer (Hulk Hogan excluded) :p.

First off no girl ever screams Main Event. Second Matt Cross didn't show the team anything and he looked lost on the show. He was the smallest wrestler (I believe) on the show. Luke is the only one who seems like he will make anything of himself.

Most wrestlers don't start off as great wrestlers. They have charisma and work their butts off to become good wrestlers.

I mean if you want a wrestler that can make others look good and put on good matches, then Cross is your man. If you want someone who will contend for the highest titles and sell merch Cross isn't the man, which makes him not WWE's man.
