  1. Yep. Well I'm a fan of the company and I can see you are too so we both just want the best product they can deliver. I'm sure the writers will work it all out. They generally do. I'd be willing to bet that the TV show will kick off storylines that are specific to that show whereas the PPV would feature killer longform matches. That was generally the ROH formula in the past and I see nothing indicating that they would change that. So while I acknowledge your cencern, did the Daniels spoiler ruin anything for you? It didn't for me. I watched Final Battle, loved it, watched the match with him and Edwards... and loved that too.
  2. Yea and at Final Battle they ackowledged that the TV show hadn't aired yet but didnt go into pariculars. It didnt take away from the show and with the product they delivered that night, NO ONE was pissed haha. In my opinion, Final Battle 2010 was the best wrestling PPV that entire year. Great great stuff.
  3. Well, gotta love a guy like Lazorbeak who actually does his homework and lays it out. Rarely on a message board does someone actually know what they are talking about and back it up lol... bravo, sir.
  4. While he's not just simply doing exactly as Ledger did, he's doing some of Heath's mannerisms. The look and the attitude are there. My girlfriend, who knows nothing about wrestling, looked at the TV for one of his promos: it was the really bad one where 'Hulk Hogan' - or someone that really looked like him from behind anyway lol... really weird there... beat him with a bat and Sting just took the beating and cracked jokes for no reason whatsoever. Apparently someone forgot that one of Batman joker's character points is he's physically underwhelming and allowed Batman to beat him to draw out the darkness inside his nemesis, to prove a point and break his will to keep fighting crime - in a few words. Whereas Sting can fight and Hogan is a straight bad guy... so him beating Sting with a bat showed and displayed absolutely nothing except bad writing... ANYWAY She looked at the promo and said, "wow... he's doing a bad heath ledger impression. Why do you watch this crap?" To be fair to TNA she says this about all wrestling. Point is, she imediately picked up on it and I think it's fairly obvious that while not copying heath directly, he's clearly using his version of the Joker as the main character basis. It's instantly recognizable that Sting is ripping off Heath LEdger's joker, if not 100% of his character than at least all of the recognizable parts. If another movie not titles Batman had this Joker Sting -the way he's been on TV- as a a main character, they would be called out for thievery and most likely sued. If you are trying to give him credit for also stealing some of Jack Nicholson's joker, I wouldn't disagree but I don't see how that's a plus for the character. LEt's steal everything about the Joker except the good acting and dynamic character traits Now obviously Sting's not murdering people lol... figured I wouldn't have to clear that up but you never know on message boards i guess.
  5. They'll probably make the storylines fresh for the TV show and seperae from the iPPV. I've seen many ROH TV tapings that are recorded before a PPV and aired after it. Usually the writers understand how this works and get around it. I wouldn't be too worried, buddy. They've done this before. I'm pretty sure witht he HDnet show sometimes they'd tape something that would air as late as 4-6 weeks later.
  6. I was udner the impression that MVP and CM Punk were the last two that signed a deal where they could wrestle as their names under their respective gimmicks because they come up with them. Merchandising and licensing is a whole new ballgame. I wouldn't be shocked if they can WRESTLE under their WWE names but cant sell merch, action figures, appear in video games, etc. without WWE licensing getting involved. I'm sure Colt hasn't signed anything yet and is free to use whatever name he wants.
  7. I can see this point. He still fought arlovski and sylvia, who were on most people's top 10 at the time he fought them but they were definately not the same fighters they once were by the time he got to them. But with respect, Arlovski had won 5 straight before he met Fedor and Sylvia had been comming off of a UFC title fight loss in what was a pretty good HW fight against Big Nog. At least your point is a grounded. You acknowledge that he's still probably the best HW ever. You're simply saying that after 2005 he wasn't fighting the best HW in the world anymore. Can't argue that point, as most of them were fighting for the UFC. I just noticed this thing lately where alot of MMA legends seem to take heat towards the end of their career. Granted, it's a small percentage of MMA fans & writers that are doing it, but it's a loud percentage as well. It's not necessarily anyone on this board - definately not Amp or Daff - your points were very different. I'm simply commenting on something I saw all over the net, the websites, the podcasts. People look at MMA legends at the end of their careers and start to pick them apart. This happened with Chuck and Wandy, who are in my opinion the two best 205 lbs fighters of all time. When they weren't as dominant as they once were, people seem to want to go back and pick apart their carreer and act like we've all been overrating them for too long. NO ONE was saying Fedor was overrated when Strikeforce signed him. He took soem heat for not going to UFC. And some people even went as far as to say it was because he was worried about being exposed, but he was still number 1 HW int he world in every major publication and those detractors were generally dismissed. Now, he's lost 3 in a row and people are acting like he was never that great to begin with when in reality, he's simply not that great in 2011.
  8. Actually, I found his breakdown to be fairly insightful. He clearly knows what he's talking about. I just disagree. To be more clear and fair, I was more making a statement based on what I've seen around the net, the podcasts, etc. I'm feeling a sense of people taking the attitude of "Fedor was never really that great." I see that the point can be made, but I still disagree fully. You don't go 27 fights without a loss over 9 years because you were never properly tested. Not in MMA. Fedor's probably beaten more top ten ranked opponents (at the time he fought them) than any other HW in history. He's been involved in most of the biggest HW fights in MMA history. He was the number one ranked fighter in the HW division for longer than anyone. Is he the best P4P fighter of all time? Probably not though I've heard the argument made before. Point is, there's a segment of MMA fans that want to take all this away from him because he's dropped three in a row. I simply disagree with that ideology. He's still the greatest HW of all time beyond question. No one accomplished what he has. Yet :-)
  9. Fedor is the greatest heavyweight of all time. Period. There isn't a heavyweight alive who has accomplished what he has over a career. Yet. He's a little past his prime at this point. If you have watched his fights over the years you can see he's not nearly as cool and calm and collected as he used to be. I think psychologically his head isn't where it needs to be anymore. That's a personal opinion admittedly not based on much other than what I see and my interpretation of it. But unfortunately too many people are overreacting. We've seen this before. A guy hits a certain point in his career when for whatever reason he is no longer the fighter he once was. Fedor is at that point right now. Unfortunately, many disrespectful fans are taking his last three fights and looking at the past through very foggy lenses and taking way too much away from him and his past accomplishments. And BTW... he lost to Dan Henderson. It's not like he lost to Robbie Lawler or Jacare. He lost to Hendo. Hendo is one of the greatest fighters to ever grace the sport. And Fedor came within a hair of KOing him, which has never been done before. I take nothing away from Henderson. The way he went out the back door and got out from under Fedor was extremely impressive, and he drilled Fedor with a sick shot that stunned him just long enough to get the stoppage. It's such a weird situation. You have some people screaming that it was a fix in favor of Hendo. You have others saying Hendo "completely destroyed" Fedor. You have others saying Fedor had no buisness losing to a guy that small. Lots of unclear interpretations of what they saw in that fight I think. I don't know why, it's fairly plain to see. Two great fighters that had alot of respect for each other came out swinging. One of them was going to get stopped. It happened to be Fedor. It was almost Hendo. That's MMA.
  10. Rey might get a RAW title rematch next week but that seems unlikely as they appear to be building soemthing with him and JMo vs Truth and Miz. Rey also might come out and challenge whoever wins at summerslam. Cena could win at SS and Del Rio could cash in MitB... then Rey could come out and make his claim for the rematch against Del Rio. Who knows?
  11. agreed. Him and Mergliotta are extremely bad at their jobs.
  12. Yea it was a great fight. I had no problem with the stoppage either. I agree completely.
  13. Well I'm glad you decided to resort to taking a cheap shot at me personally. Very classy. But it is fairly obvious what the phrase "world class" means and it isn't up to interpretation. We agree on that. More to the point. World Class doesnt mean any of the following things: 1) Best p4p ONLY 2) No holes in his game (so no one is world class except for GSP and Anderson I guess) 3) Not good enough in the opinions of message board posters I shouldn't have to explain this anymore to people who can read and understand English. "Blue" doesnt mean "Red" because you THINK it does. You dont get to sit back and redefine words to make a point on a message board. Sorry. Phrases aren't up to your personal interpetation. They mean what they mean. It was obviously a poor choice of words for the audience that was going to read it due to (I really dont know why) serious confusion on the subject. But a highly ranked fighter in his weight class is a world class fighter. Regardless of what any of you (including me) think about the guy. And if you can break out of the UFC IS EVERYTHING world then you should understand that there are probably hundreds to thousands of heavyweights fighting professional mixed martial arts today. To be ranked among your weight class at fifth, or even in the top ten, makes you a world class fighter. This isn't open to interpretation. If you can find a definition of the phrase that means that a fighter must be complete in all areas of his game, undefeated, or anything else crazy that has been mentioned please do so and I'll be wrong. Besides, in context, it is PLAINLY OBVIOUS to anyone who can read what I was saying. I'm embarassed that I have to continue to reiterate this point without the phrase in question so that all of us can understand in very plain language: Reem hadn't fought many good fighters in the past few years. He did in Werdum. Werdum made him look less than spectacular. Reem should be fighting in the UFC because it's what fans want to see and it's what would best cement his legacy as one of the best HW that fought while he was active
  14. HAHA it's just that I'm being forced to defend a fighter I'm not a fan of. I really don't care for Werdum. I respect him, but he's not one of my favorite fighters. I think he's boring and his UFC run was less than spectacular. But he's still one of the top guys at his weight despite what Amp, I, or anyone else thinks. That's what rankings do. They aren't the be-all-end-all but they generally give a good idea of who should be placed where based on who they've fought and how they beat them. This takes your love or hate of a guy out of it and tries to rank him where he should be based on wins, losses, level of competition, and admittedly (but to a lesser degree) popularity. Now Sherdog and MMAWeekly have Werdum at #4 and #5 respectively. I don't think he's really that high. I'd have him after some UFC guys that have also lost recently, but it is what it is. Even if he shouldn't be top-5... he's clearly top 10 and most likely right now the best HW in strikeforce now that Reem is gone and Fedor is past his prime. So I can't do it anymore lol. I can't sit here and talk abotu Werdum like he's amazing. He's not amazing, but he's a top heavyweight regardless of our opinions.
  15. This battle of symantics is silly. He's world class among heavyweights and you and everyone else who reads properly knows this is what I meant and that it's 100% true. So I'm gonna go ahead and end this silly crap. You win. I provided two reasonable definitions of the phrase "world class" for you yet you continue to re-define it however you wish to see a dumb argument go your way. So now I concede and you win. Are you satisfied?
  16. I have no idea what you are even talking about anymore. World Class isn't something you just get to make up definitions for. It simply means he's ranked among the best in the world. If you don't believe me, here's what the rest of society deems the phrase world class to mean: http://www.thefreedictionary.com/world-class http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/world-class So sorry it doesn't meet "your" definition of world class, but you can't just make up your own definition to an english phrase that means something to the rest of the english speaking population. The dude has stood with some of the best fighters of his day and is one of the best HW fighting currently, wether you agree or not doesn't really matter as he's ranked among the best in the world in every trusted publication in the sport. I'd ask you to explain yourself further but I don't think I even wanna read anymore of this drivel. My original point was that Werdum's probably the best fighter Reem's fought in awhile and he made Reem look kinda bad. Even though Reem won, it was in very disappointing fashion and it left lots of doubts in fans' minds about him. A UFC run would have been something the fans wanted and would have been in Reem's best interest for his legacy. I think if he goes to Titan Fighting Championships or something like that, it'll help a smaller company but it won't help his position among the best HW in the world. He is a top level fighter and deserves to be fighting the best. He should be making a run at Cain Velasquez not Bobby Lashley.
  17. I'm completely uncomfortable watching Sting do bad heath ledger impressions every week. It's to the point that I've been a loyal TNA watcher for years and can't watch it to the end anymore. He literally makes me turn off the show it's so bad. But I have to say as an intelligent man that even though I don't care for it, fans are eating this gimmick up, man. Sting never had problems getting over but he's more over now than he's been in a good while. I want to see TNA succeed because I feel like they have some amazing talent. So if this gimmick that I hate happens to help the company, I'm for it. As crazy as that is. I half kiddingly hope someone else does it though with another company. Just to see the reaction. Like if some young WWE guy just starts ripping off the Joker, can TNA fans complain that he's "Stealing" a gimmick that's already stolen? LOL. I know this won't happen it's just a funny thought to me.
  18. LOL Werdum is a world class MMA fighter. Regardless of opinion. We both think he's overrated, but that doesn't matter. He's a top ranked fighter which makes him, "world class". /end argument
  19. You can think he's not that good all you want to. That's personal opinion, but Werdum's one of the top fighters in his weight class despite what you or I think. I personally think he's a bit overrated myself but he's a world class MMA fighter. It's ok. You can say it without the quotes. Also, I don't have a problem with Herb Dean as a ref. Rosenthaal is more likely to let a fight continue, and he's one of my personal favorites to see in there during a big fight. But Dean is solid. He's a sound decision maker and he protects the fighters. There's been a couple early stoppages, but he's way better than most of the crappy MMA refs out there. Mazagotti and Mergliotta would have been fired from any other job for sheer incompetancy if they performed as bad at that as they do at MMA reffing.
  20. Well whats the definition of "world class" if Werdum isn't it? He's one of the top 10 ranked HW in the world in most trusted polls. On MMA Weekly and sherdog, he's top 5. To me, that's a world class MMA fighter.
  21. Overeem had been very dominant over lackluster opponents. He fought a true world-class MMA heavyweight in Werdum and didn't look spectacular. I want very much for him to make his way into UFC and see what he can do. Lots of the Shertards have been saying how if Reem or Werdum were in UFC today they'd tear through the top of that division. I'd really like to see if that's true or not.
  22. Yea I was clearly saying that I WASNT expecting a 5 star match or anything...
  23. yea Show / Henry was pretty decent. It's not 5-star match or anything but for what I wanted and expected it delivered. I like that they are taking some time to build Henry a little bit. It's not like a masterful character creation or anything, but they are taking their time with him and building him to what will most likely be a big Orton feud that will be much more interesting in the long run.
