  1. So you have The Heartbreak Kid, The Handsome Halfbreed and I'm assuming a heel DiBiase. All with Texas ties as Michaels is from there and Hernandez made his name there. How about calling them The Lone Star Chamber? You play to the shared Texas roots, the fact Hernandez is trying to expand his brand and Michaels trying to establish his.

  4. I'm familiar with that one from having watched Let's Play videos of the Dark Brotherhood storylines in Oblivion and Skyrim but never done it myself. Being a dark evil soul just for the sake of it has just has never appealed to me. I'm too light to play that dark. I know I miss out on some pretty solid rewards in Skyrim because of that feeling. But even so, I much prefer to take Astrid down in the cabin and then wipe out the Dark Brotherhood. Heck the only time I've completed the Thieves Guild in Skyrim was when I was roleplaying a scholar studying the Nightingales who ended up learning the only one to get the material he needed was to become one. Much preferred the Robin Hood vibe of the Thieves Guild in Oblivion to the Mafia feel of Skyrim's. Those guys deserved to be on hard times.

I killed all of the thugs and read the note to see who was it that sent them after me. It was someone named Marmal. <p> </p><p> Now I have been playing this game off and on for nine years now and I had no clue who the hell Marmal was/is. I looked him up on the internet and he's a priest at the temple in Riften. What kind of a priest is this dude? </p><p> </p><p> Yes, I did steal from the temple, but nobody saw me do it. You are going to tell me that a priest who did not witness me steal anything is going to hire some thugs to kill me. That is just messed up.<img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Been doing a good bit of the same since the pandemic began. Weaving back and forth between Oblivion and Skyrim actually. But Skyrim at the moment. So since I hadn't been to Riften yet on my current build, I made it a point to look into this priest for you. Two things to keep in mind given this bounty Maramal placed on your head.</p><p> </p><p> 1: Think about how corrupt the city of Riften is in general. The Thieves Guild. The Black-Briars. The gate guards that try to shake you down when you first arrive. Grelod The Kind at the orphanage. Riften is to Nirn as Mos Eisley is to Tattooine. A wretched hive of scum and villiany. If such a murderous priest is going to live anywhere in Skyrim, it's rather fitting he'd live in Riften.</p><p> </p><p> 2: Also think about the fact this is the same priest who is scolding any and all present at The Bee and Barb the first time you enter that inn. Meaning he's quite a bit more fanatical than the rest of Riften's clergy. Fanatics are less likely to quibble with those who'd do violence than more reasonable congregants. He probably views this bounty as a means of getting these sinners to do Mara's will for once.</p><p> </p><p> And then there's the little factor that Skyrim's sense of who should and shouldn't be able to report or witness crimes being off. I've heard tales of players been hunted down for crimes because wild animals saw what happened and that been reported to guards as a result. Sounds like you were visited on the basis of this glitched witness system.</p>

They're excellent.</p><p> </p><p> But yeah, you usually don't "watch" podcasts. Podcasts are a whole other medium of media.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Thank you so much. I appreciate the help where this is concerned. I honestly didn't know how much or how little I knew. Now I can say I don't do podcasts because I haven't really had the interest to seek them out. But who knows? If y'all mention something cool that's easily chased down, maybe I'll start.</p>
  7. <p>Can't really answer this. As far as I know, I don't really watch any. At best, if I do, I just don't think of them is such terms. I'll watch like video game list and character build videos, some couple day old news clips. Stuff like that. But as far, "I'm going to watch my podcast", I don't really do that. Maybe I'm just too old in the way I think about things. </p><p> </p><p> Heck, I've yet to quit being confused when stuff like Netflix and Hulu are considered "TV" on Jeopardy. I tend to view those as different media even if the recording process is technically the same. I am pushing towards 50 so it is entirely possible I just have a mental block in separating what podcasts I watch from any other video.</p>
  8. Very fun match. Sure wasn't expecting Sonny Kiss to get the shot here until he came out but glad for him. He brings a unique presence to the ring and has been killing it in the tag team with Janela. So good to see him get rewarded for showing well. I do take issue with the announcers though. No reference to the fact Cody had the perfect resource in Dustin to draw on as far as dealing with Sonny is concerned. Surely all that Goldust perspective would have been a big help in game planning for somebody as flamboyant as Kiss. Tend to agree here but not going to quibble about imperfections in a match this good. Loved the ending with taking Fenix's mask. Shows that FTR aren't necessarily honorable guys and sets up well for the eventual showdown with the Bucks. Liked the aftermath as it further demonstration that FTR aren't good people rejecting the peace offering and showed continued potential for a Page turn that he'd drink with such bad dudes. Le Snore. Le Zzzzzz. Jericho's promo was terrible. Man was completely putting me to sleep as he droned on. It felt way too try hard. Like some writer who'd just been introduced to Chris was trying to mimic his style based on limited exposure. Wasn't until the drenching that I perked up. Very much with you about Ortiz being the best part of this segment. But I've already peace outed on one Jericho-Cassidy match. The last thing in the AEW story world I want is a second Very cool match. Loved Marko and Jungle Boy frustrating Kenny. Really set the stage that Jurassic Express could have legit won that match and made it feel so much more competitive than some companies would have. As for afterward, it is starting to feel like a race to who can turn heel first. Hangman still has the lead but Kenny is starting to catch up I'm of two minds here. In my opportunities to see Rosa, I've tended to prefer her in the tag team setting. But the women's division does feel like it could use some juice. An established name or two to breathe some extra life into things could be a good idea. Been digging the Nightmare Sisters dynamic but at the same time, I've yet to understand why she's been in story sheared off from Butcher & Blade. There's been no explanation of that separation and it's annoying even if it's only a minor issue. While on the other side, if women's tag is going to be a thing beyond the Nightmare Sisters and that storyline, I'd rather see Jenkins with Rache Chanel. That would seems like a more natural pairing look and gimmick wise. While Page makes me wish I could see her in a setting more like OVW. Not that I dislike her. I don't. But as much as her extreme youth is mentioned, I'd like to see her facing the Jessie Belles, Amazing Marias and Thunder Kittys of the wrestling world. Heck, maybe give Page a run with the OVW Women's title. She's already better than Cali Young when Cali first held OVW gold. And the Dark pipeline continues. Vicki's now the third manager whose first appearance for the company was guest commentary on Dark following Arn Anderson and Taz. Certainly dig the choice. Vicki's harshness and Nyla's bravado make a great blend together. As for Ivelisse, I mostly know of her second hand. But Diamante has looked terrific in her AEW appearances. If Ivelisse can come in and show she's more than just reputation, I could be down for that pairing. Certainly ways a women's tag scene could be grown from the pool AEW's drawing from if they so chose. Meh. Second clunker of Moxley's title reign where I'm concerned. Not that I blame Mox. Had seen little of Cage pre-AEW and just haven't been impressed with him to date.. Was hoping this match would help me see what all the fuss is about and it didn't. I look at Cage and see a million dollar body and ten cent everything else. Looking forward to Moxley getting a new challenger and Cage having to deal with Darby. They do have a good foundation set for that feud and maybe along the way Cage can have more matches with a level of competition that can stretch him. I really want to see why "the path of Cage" is something to be concerned about. Right now, I'm much more inclined to look at Lance Archer as a threat than Cage. Archer looks like his blood is boiling every time he comes to the ring and he's out for blood. Cage just appears to be going through motions. Will concede the storyline logic of the ending was cool and that I loved Darby's return. But I could so easily have shut the show off mid-match and missed those good points because of what was otherwise a snoozefest. Overall a solid show. But I do hope they get back to better main events. Moxley/Cage is one to throw on the fire next to the empty arena Hager mess.
  9. Right there with you. Just call it off and gets y'all's heads on straight. The league has had months and months to figure out all the logistics on this and they're waiting to the eleventh hour? With rookies due to report this weekend and camps to be fully open the next? Ridiculous. Be smart, call it off and reload for next year. It doesn't even seem possible they can practice effectively much less hold games.
  10. True that. But given the origin story that Brother Swanton related, I gotta say I would have been on board a lot sooner with this name change were said tale public knowledge rather than just obscure team trivia.
  11. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Self" data-cite="Self" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46243" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div> <p> There's constantly a desire from wrestling die-hards to see the new thing get pushed. The 'young guys'. But AEW are still building their brand. Tony Khan is looking for that White Hot momentum to break guys through to the big time.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> And this is the thing that strikes me most unreasonable in Internet criticism of AEW. The gulf between between AEW's base fan and the average fan is gaping. Perhaps bigger than in any other company in American wrestling.. </p><p> </p><p> Most of the base fans have been on the ride with AEW before it even officially had a name. They were on YouTube for the pool party that announced them becoming a full promotion. They've seen all the All shows and the Fests For The Fallen and so forth and so on. They followed the company's progress to get TV and anxiously awaited Dynamite's debut. The average bear has done little to none of that. AEW has only been on the average bear's radar since last October when Dynamite premiered on TV. Not even a year yet.</p><p> </p><p> Regardless, AEW is a young company. Even if you did follow the buildup to its formation. The base fan doesn't seem to appreciate that because they were there from the moment Cody started flirting with promoting shows. So there's a lot of push this guy, push that guy, push the other guy before they've even fully established the guys they consider the foundation of their company. AEW may have achieved an amazing amount in short time but they still have to learn to walk before they can run. As great a promotion as they are and as consistently entertaining as their product is, they are hardly an established presence yet. If they get too far out over their skis and book too much like they are an established presence, they may never last long enough to be one. Honestly, I'm kind of surprised how much impatience I hear in this thread. One would think fans as comfortable with the process of promoting as TEW players are would be more cognizant of the bigger picture.</p>
  12. Then 2 questions spring to mind. 1: Does this mean they were connected to the baseball team at one point and the organized crime ties there? and 2: Why haven't the name change crowd run with this? This story would seem to make their case of the name being problematic seeing the extremes that were gone to in order to justify it in the first place.
  13. Here's the thing I don't get and I don't remember ever having seen covered in the history of this issue being treated as one. Why are they even the Redskins in the first place? Not that I disagree with you as such but where did the name even come from? Over the years, I've heard all this about the history and the tradition behind the Redskins name. But not one word on its origin. Is their a Louis Sockalexis style story a la the Cleveland Indians? Should the name been potentially controversial for non-native reasons a la the Boston (now Atlanta) Braves? Was it just a newspaper name the team contest? If this were a team in Topeka or Omaha some middle of the country city, I'd get the association. But with a governmental center like Washingion, it does seem like a strange choice. Regardless of how appropriate taking offense is or is not. Anybody have the scoop on that end of things? It seems like this should be a bigger part of the conversation. If the name was originally bestowed by a raging racist, that would seem to bolster the argument for change. If it were a Cleveland/Sockalexis scenario, that would seem to bolster the argument for maintaining it. But nobody has ever seemed interested in saying why the Redskins are "Redskins" to start with. What's the deal?
  14. This always seems to happens when I have multiple saves of the same character and try to return to the most recent version of him. Scramton becomes I stopped a bus. Repocity may become I have breakfast before. Etc etc. With wherever I am being noted in that part of the screen as such a long clip of narration it won't all fit in the box. I've tried just playing through a few turns hoping the screen changes would cause to reset and self-correct. But it doesn't. The scrambled locations even show up in the narration of new events.
  15. Normally I wouldn't worry about that. I tend to believe in Hager as a performer. But after the disaster with Moxley, I can certainly appreciate the concern.
  16. I hear you on Facade. Much as I like Jeff Cobb, I would love to have seen what Facade could have done in a fully contended Top Prospect tournament in 2018. Dude was giving RoH some solid performances leading up to that competition. Had he been in the final it would not have surprised me. Dude is that good. Also like the little I've seen of Kincaid. Again highlighted by his appearance in RoH during Top Prospect.
  17. I right click the icon to pull up the menu. Click to Run As Admin. And then it just completely ignores me. Doesn't even try to load the game.
  18. Had the game on an old computer but it died. So having to replace the game on the new one and the retail version won't load so I can license it or start playing. Both Windows 10 machines up to date on all Microsoft upgrades.
  19. Yeah. This is ground that if it's to be tread at all has to be tread very lightly. Like, for example, the Hollywood Mogul/Movie Studio series by Carey DeVuono not only has it where talent can die but that can entail things like committing suicide or suffering from cancer. But to keep things from being too heavy, those matters aren't dwelt on. You just have a newspaper headline. "Alex Miles Dead! Cancer claims actor" or "Carley Gray Dies. Troubled young actress takes own life." Just enough to know it happened and be realistic without being overly morbid. I don't think I'd play either if there were things in the game like Chris Champion/Buck Zumhofe style molestation events with detail.
  20. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Gungner" data-cite="Gungner" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41263" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>A name that suggests that they've left the Spirit Squad gimmick thingy behind, as I wrote. So yeah, a name that suggests they are more serious.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Okay. You weren't fully clear. A different silly gimmick would still have been leaving the Spirit Squad behind. So yeah. The challenge then becomes how Doane reflects this change. With Mondo, you can play to that name by calling them Big or Major Whatever. Synonyms for names are one of the puzzle pieces I look at when figuring tag names and Mondo gives you many directions that can help in that way. Doane, however, has a name that could just as easily be an accountant's as a wrestler's. So some gimmickry is almost required with him.</p>
  21. Doane used to appropriate Lenny Dykstra's name. Maybe Mondo could be Mossine or some such to play off Mike Mussina and they could be like The Clubhouse. Or The Dugout. Or do you looking to get away from the silly gimmickry altogether?
  22. The thought that comes to my mind for Honey Badger is to invert the name of the most famous one and make her Maddie Tyrann.
  23. The challenge is that those real names are not easily played with. The first thought that comes to mind for me is Mad Season. Albeit on the rubbery foundation that sunny weather is most associated with summer and therefore seen as highly seasonal. Another thought is Desert Heat. The sun (Sunny) being a heat source combined with the Harlem Heat precedent. Combined with the notion that those old gimmicked names sounding like the names of desert nomads in an old Laurence of Arabia knock-off. Don't know if either of these fit. I've never seen the men in question so I could be out in left field. But I hope they help.
  24. So essentially a spiritual successor to the Queens of Chaos mod from 2010
  25. The one issue I might have with your Austin Gunn idea, good as it sounded, is that nobody seems to want to do that much with him. RoH had him in last year's Top Prospect Tournament and then failed to bring him in a la past tourney losers like Beer City Bruiser and Dalton Castle. And now AEW seems to see him most fit to be a crowd extra during the pandemic. Granted he and his dad have wrestled on Dark a couple times but nothing that would stand out. It almost feels like companies with any visibility are afraid to run with him for some reason.
