AJ Styles (playing a rockabilly singer gimmick) and Scott Goldman (Colt Cabana, playing a blue collar gimmick), managed by Arn Anderson</p><p> </p><p> The stable, managed by Father James Mitchell: “The Devil’s Advocate” Markus Jindrak, “Dark Angel” Chris Daniels, “The Monster” Abyss and Melissa Black (Cheerleader Melissa) </p><p> </p><p> Thanks!</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> For AJ & Cabana, the obvious name is Silver Bullet Band, but I might also suggest Blue Ribbon.</p><p> </p><p> For the stable, I suggest Legion of the Damned. Alternatively, the Fires of Gehenna.</p><p> </p><p> ***</p><p> </p><p> Also, I’m looking for a Tag Team name for my Stardom game with Hana Kimura as her catsuit femme fatale gimmick and Maki Ito as a crazed <em>yandere</em> stalker jpop idol. I considered Black Widows and Ito’s Angels, but neither feels quite right.</p>
  2. Can someone give me a practical example of how a car crash and a mayhem match differ, and how an epic and spectacle match differ? I’ve seen real matches I’d qualify as mayhem and epic. But the distinction between them aand their opposite number when tryig to imagine them as real matches eludes me.
  3. <p>The talk about finances for house shows is interesting, and I’ll be curious to see how it’s handled. The grognardy aspect of finances is something I’ve spent a lot of time thinking and talking about WRT to game design, esp. in management sims. </p><p> </p><p> There’s definitely a point at which it becomes either tedious (having to change frequently to keep up with economic factors) or too micromanagey (a lot of sports games with their “pick the price of each block of seating or concessions”) and I have definitely seen it fail pretty hard, so I’m hopeful but nervous. That said, when it’s well done it can really make you feel a connection to your company(it’s one of the few things I think the game Big Pharma got right), and Adam’s always been good about allowing players to ignore parts they don’t like.</p><p> </p><p> Part of me would like to see it extend to the normal game a little, too. But less in a management sim way, and more in allowing options like to charge more at the door, in exchange for fewer seats filled, or give away some free concessions/tickets in exchange for a more lively crowd. Some of that already exists with things like garbage promotions having more trouble getting sponsors than mainstream stuff, but I feel like letting us be able to roleplay 1999 WCW would be fun.</p>
  4. <p>I know dojo reputation == worker quality, but does anyone have a rough idea of what kind of quality? </p><p> </p><p> If I’m looking to start a dojo for a cult or regional promotion, I obviously don’t need the same quality workers as a National or up, and I’m trying to figure out how much is worth spending, vs what’s overspending.</p>
  5. Is there a way to run 2 companies at the same time, other than by playing a quote-unquote 2 player game? For instance if I wanted to book a parent and a child company?
  6. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="cymru96" data-cite="cymru96" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41194" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>What is the ideal length of time for a storyline? I know it probably varies, but I am five months in as a small company, so have run five shows. At what point do you think I can start thinking about wrapping this one up and moving on to another one?</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> I think it depends on what you are trying to do with it. I have had storylines that ran for a month, and I have had storylines that lasted a year. </p><p> </p><p> My feeling is that if the storyline is changing and the principle players are shifting in and out of focus (or the storyline itself morphing) you can go longer. If it’s pretty static, I find 3-4 events a pretty good balance (win, complication, rematch, resolution). Shorter storylines I usually use as placeholders for title holders doing open challenges and such. (Or if you really want to cheese the ratings system).</p><p> </p><p> The TL;DR answer is - either when you’re bored with it or when it stops being a draw.</p>

A heel stable consisting of Jay Chord, Bradford Peverell, Roderick Remus, Nelson Callum, Davis Wayne Newton</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Callum and the Chordettes?</p><p> But seriously, I was always a big fan of Phantom Stranger’s stable called Generation Omega, which was the rising stars of TCW back in 2010. So something along that line... Generation Omega Neo? Generation Next?</p>
  8. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="PuroJoshi" data-cite="PuroJoshi" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41174" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>It is, I'm really hooked on it!<p> The other huge story coming out of Queendom is that Io Shirai is back in Japan and has signed exclusively with AJW.</p><p> </p><p> I wasn't expecting Io so early but I have some fun stuff planned, QQ have moved on and all feel betrayed by Io leaving them back in STARDOM. The group is also led by both Momo and Utami who agree the stable is far better without her.</p><p> </p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> What mod is this? I’m a STARDOM fan, but the one mod I’ve seen with the company seemed fairly harsh on the stats and also only had like 1/3 of the roster correct.</p><p> </p><p> Also, I feel like Okada soliciting prostitutes is just him living the gimmick. That shouldn’t be a scandal.</p>
  9. Sorry, I don’t know if someone else already posted these, but I have a few things I’d love to see for 2020, hopefully in order from easiest to hardest. First is the ability to make 3 man teams in the team menu, rather than simply ad hoc- both for the Lucha leagues, and for people who want to use the “Freebird Rule”. Second, I’d love to be able to customize what stops a Partial Skip for things that require my attention. Even better, the ability to customize what gets sent to my inbox completely (like Football Manager). Third, I’d love it if quick-roster had those stock market arrows (green up/red down) so we can tell at a glance who gained and lost popularity after each show. And lastly, I’d love if there was a way to ask a smaller company to become your Child Company. Perhaps if “Parent Company” worked so that if Company A asked Company B and A was smaller, it worked as it does now. But if A was larger, it would ask them to be your Child. Or just an additional option.
  10. Started playing a SOTBPW game, but I know very little about traditional lucha stuff. So far, I basically get the feeling that it’s like flashy cruiserweight fighting with crazy Attitude Era soap / comic book style storylines. But I’m kind of wondering, in real lucha, is it ok to have rudos and technicos working together in a match? I.E. a rudo/technico tag team, or 2 technicos in a 3 man tag. Also, is it more like Japanese style, where there’s a very definite pecking order, or are upsets and Midcarders going over UM’s or UM’s going over ME’s acceptable? And if anyone has some other tips for getting the lucha feel right (I know the basics - masks are basically sacred, 2/3 falls and 3 man teams are major aspects) but I’ll take any other advice. Sorry, I tried checking the SOTB thread but didn’t get much of a feel for this stuff.
  11. <p>I play big companies as angel investors. As long as I have at least 10 million in the bank (you never know when there might be an emergency), and am making a profit, I start spending hundreds of thousands a year opening dojos and smaller promotions. </p><p> </p><p> I’ll also try to write a few of my Midcard & up guys out to work the lower promotions as “trainers” (sometimes actually as trainers, sometimes just working.)</p><p> </p><p> Especially older guys who start having serious time decline (RDJ being a great example), I have a big “farewell” show and then let them spend their last 6 months raising the future.</p>
  12. <p>Every year after the G1, I kind of get an interest to try booking an NJPW type conpany, but I know nothing about any of the Cornellverse Japan companies (and I usually find RW mods feel off). </p><p> </p><p> Is there one where both the style is similar to NJPW and the wrestlers have that similar feel? Who’s the Okada of the Cornellverse?</p>
  13. <p>Playing an alt-history MAW where Tommy Cornell goes to work for Sam as an instructor - I broke up Dynamite Express, and now I want Tommy & Syd Collier to tag together.</p><p> </p><p> Trying to find a good name - preferably something based on a play.</p>
  14. Any suggestion for a name for a WCW ‘97 team of Goldberg and The Giant as a naive tag team with Ted DiBiase as a manager who’s cheating for them without their knowledge?
  15. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Editor6" data-cite="Editor6" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41263" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Thank you! I KNEW there was something. The New School of Tradition it is then.<p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> It's a weird situation. I need teams. Hocking's overpushed as an Upper Mid and Thomas is currently jobbing in my All-Action division. They'll probably be a jobber team for a while until they (hopefully) improve enough to get a push. I'm probably changing Thomas's gimmick in a few months (maybe Underdog?), if that helps.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Blue Streak?</p><p> Or if Hocking’z still going with the ‘Shocking’ name, maybe Blue Bolt?</p>
  16. <p>Looking for a suggestion for a TCW stable name (I know, always TCW, I’m boring).</p><p> </p><p> It’s a parody of WWE’s League of Nations stable, currently featuring Lucky T. O’Irish, El Cuccaracchi, and manager Mother Fuoka, planning to expand a bit.</p><p> </p><p> I’m trying to find a name that both acknowledges that the whole joke is that they’re all tired (and frankly ancient) stereotypes while also abreviating into something snarky.</p><p> </p><p> My best so far was Casually Racist Authority Patrol or CRAP, but there has to be something better.</p>
  17. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Hashasheen" data-cite="Hashasheen" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41263" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Heh. I did consider Phoenix Gate briefly but dismissed it because of Dragon Gate being a thing. Other names considered:<p> </p><p> </p><ul><li>CMLL Japan - A real IRL thing in 1999 and 2000<br /></li><li>Dragon Mania / Lucha Fiesta - IRL Ultimo Dragon shows<br /></li><li>Fukumen Mania - An IRL Japanese micro-indy<br /></li><li> Gaikotsu Pro Wrestling - Meaning Skeleton Pro Wrestling <br /></li><li>GCG - Because of IRL El Dorado Pro Wrestling<br /></li><li>Lucha Underground - Sort of obvious, but also influences by Michinoku's SPACE WAR event every year<br /></li><li>Teppō Pro Wrestling / Wokou Pro Wrestling - Meaning Iron Cannon wrestling or Pirates Pro Wrestling, because of IRL Pro Wrestling Secret Base<br /></li></ul><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Maybe a bit late, but what about AJPW: Ichijin? </p><p> </p><p> But rather than “一陣” (Gust of Wind), it’s “一人”, combining “#1” and the person kanji from gaijin to represent the melding of Japan’s strength with the Mexican influence.</p>
  18. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="iruleall15" data-cite="iruleall15" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41191" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><img alt="3yECTYt-Qt2PgvH7_Gj_9Q.png" data-src="https://image.prntscr.com/image/3yECTYt-Qt2PgvH7_Gj_9Q.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> </p><p> </p><p> Well. Guess this team is done :/</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> But think of the rivalry you have now. There’s money in that. Bret & Shawn 2.0!</p>
  19. You’re right, I could have phrased that better. I was mostly trying to get across that NJPW’s storylines feel more like the storylines of “real sports” as opposed to WWE’s “soap opera/comic books”, except that Bullet Club is a weird NwO stable. (I’ve also had zero success finding translations for the press conferences, so I’m missing most of the story.) That said, I had no idsa how to explain some of their crazy mutli-year storylines, so I’m glad you took it.
  20. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="chinoflynn" data-cite="chinoflynn" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41194" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Awesome thank you. Let the seasoning of Trish, Lita, and Mickie James begin. They’ve been managers so far, be nice to train them for the future.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> B shows are also good for that, since they don’t affect your company’s size and whatnot.</p>
  21. <p>Could someone (paging @Remianan, perhaps?) break down the Cornellverse women’s promotions for me a bit?</p><p> </p><p> I just saw a STARDOM show for the first time, and I really loved it. (Already a big joshi mark, anyway.). I’m trying to find a company that would be similar to book, but I’m having trouble trying to get a handle on 5SSW vs QAW vs AAA vs SNP.</p>
  22. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Alan James" data-cite="Alan James" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41193" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Pardon my ignorance. This is not really a booking request. I'm just looking for an idea about NJPW. <p> </p><p> How does a NJPW weekly show compare to Monday Night Raw? I know the product settings are different with the strong style. I'm wondering about angles. How do they do it in NJPW? Are the authority figures on the take? How are the women presented if there are women? etc etc</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> I haven’t watched a ton of NJPW, but it’s not really ‘angles’ per se. They also don’t do shows quite the same, it’s usually “Road to X” which is like a ‘B’ show, and then X event. e.g. Road to Korakuen would lead to I dunno, Strength of Honor at the Korakuen Hall.</p><p> </p><p> Usually the 2 headlining matches have a few minutes afterwards to talk, but outside of Bullet Club (the invading gaijins), there’s really not much ‘story’ beyond “you have the belt” or “I’m a better athlete” or “you’ve fallen off, get it together.” Most angles are actually handled in press conferences after the fact. And even Bullet Club has changed a bit since the Elite split.</p><p> </p><p> There are no female (joshi) wrestlers in NJPW. I’ve seen one or two women ringside, but I think they’re ringside personnel. For women’s wrestling, you’d be looking at STARDOM or WAVE (or several other promotions), but unless Dragon’s Gate is intergender, Japan is pretty absent of intergender promotions. SMASH was the only one I can think of (which is where Kana/Asuka came from).</p><p> </p><p> That said, if you’ve got $8, Wrestle Kingdom 12 is coming up January 4th, so if you’re interested, it’s probably the best month to sign up for NJPW World. WK is basically New Japan’s Wrestlemania.</p><p> </p><p> There also aren’t really ‘authority figures’ in the same way. Hirooki Goto is the head booker, and he accompanies Kazukichi ‘Rainmaker’ Okada, which is basically a stamp that he was seen as a golden child, but even then, it took him 4 years to become their ace, so... Aside from Goto, the only one I see regularly is ‘red shoes’ the referee. Partly that’s due to he sparser storylines, partly due to it being treated MUCH more as a legit sport.</p>
  23. <p>So, I’ve been working on a top 5 games of 2017 for a podcast I host, (My cohost and I go from 2 top 5’s to 1 top 3), so I thought I’d drop it here along with a few other notes, and see what other people had for their Top 5/10.</p><p> </p><p> Top 5:</p><p> 5. <strong>Battle Chef Brigade </strong></p><p> Lots of fun. Art style is like... anime if drawn by the guy who did the Alice in Wonderland illustrations. And I love Iron Chef, Monster Hunter & Bejeweled, so this is right up my alley.</p><p> </p><p> 4. <strong>Morphblade</strong></p><p> Tom Francis made 2 games this year (Heat Signature being the other). This is the better of the two. It’s a roguelike where the board itself changes as you play, so it rewards forethought quite a bit.</p><p> </p><p> 3. <strong>Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild</strong></p><p> Best 3D Zelda game, easily. But really hard for me to actually get into. I suspect most people here have already heard about it.</p><p> </p><p> 2. <strong>Hollow Knight</strong></p><p> 2D Dark Souls / Metroidvania with platforming and a Don Bluth like art style? Yes, please.</p><p> </p><p> 1. <strong>Neir: Automata</strong></p><p> I adore everything about this game. It looks gorgeous (both technically and aesthetically), the gameplay is fun, it has Bullet Hell elements, the music is superb, the story is a nice mix of Blade Runner, Ender’s Game and We Can Remember It For You Wholesale, and it has Bullet Hell elements.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Also, Lego Worlds seems to be what everyone wanted from No Man’s Sky. Plus it makes me feel like a kid again.</p><p> </p><p> TEW 16 was one of my most played games this year. NBA 2k16 as well.</p>
  24. <p>Question about thoughts on a retirement match. In my TCW game, RDJ’s contract ends in 9 months. I’m planning to book him as a defender of TCW against the newly acquired Remo “Wrecking Ball” Richardson, and it eventually leading him to realize that he’s simply no longer able to defend the company.</p><p> </p><p> What I can’t decide is whether to have his final match be a retirement match against Remo, or whether to have it be a ‘passing of the torch’ match to a long-standing TCW face (probably Joshua Taylor). Or maybe, have him pass it to a heel, causing him to turn face,</p>
  25. <p>Can a heel actually work as a company figurehead? I know I can choose them, but I didn’t know whether it’s actually beneficial.</p><p> </p><p> I was considering Wolf Hawkins for my figurehead, but I don’t really want him to turn face.</p>
