  1. That was the idea in my last 2016 SWF save. Lau was the man for about 8 months and I was going to transition to Keith. The imminent release of 2020 and a (once again, will I ever learn) bloated roster that made booking a chore interrupted that save. Callum (Spelled Kallum) was the semi transitional champ Keith was going to win the belt from. He stole The Crippler's (Morrisette) render & gimmick (out of game) lol. Once he became champ I changed his name from Krippler Kallum to just Kallum (the K was an accident in spelling that I kept). Didn't do anything with Kip or Buck. Size isn't a real issue. Star quality is and he has it in (please forgive me, wait for it … ) spades. (Pun started unintended, realized then rode until it wore out). Good suggestion. Hadn't thought about him. Parker will be a player for sure. I like Fro Sure but the name. I change it to Jay "Fro" Shure. I also try to find a render where the fro is there but not quite as spotlighted. Thanks for the suggestions.
  2. So asking for input. Background in 1st paragraph. Questions after that. I've decided to run an SWF scenario where Rocky Golden goes off for a year to pursue an acting career (on hiatus and will return as a free agent). I'm not doing this for some super hard challenge (I split his overness plus a bit between Scythe, Rogue and Valiant which I can defend because as he's leaving I'm expending more effort on them, justifying the overness boost). I just don't really want Golden to be "the uber guy" and I've always been fascinated with the "who would have been Hogan if Hogan didn't sign?" or "Who will replace Hogan?". So I'm doing it here. So since Golden isn't "uberman" who should be? I thought about grabbing Wolfie H and saying I would have signed him instead but he's too good. Anyway I want the person I focus on to be someone the SWF has (Cverse canon) or will (my gameplay) build up. So who should it (or they) be? Valiant and Mikey Lau will be 1-2 for now. I'm turning Rogue face because he took the belt and Scythe's title shot so Scythe has targeted him. I'm looking for someone that has presence but not uber presence (so Batman and not Superman). He should be able to talk and at least be pretty good in the ring. I'm not wanting to pluck a big time free agent. I'd rather build someone I have or a lower level free agent up. Any ideas? Thanks.
  3. <p><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Icon or Legend</span></strong>: meant to simulate the Hulk Hogans, Undertakers, John Cenas, The Rock etc. When you sign one for a one off appearance you get bonuses for attendance and ratings. This separates them from regular workers of the same overness in that these appearances are rare and therefore special. If they appear x times in x time frame the bonus is lost. </p><p> </p><p> Cverse examples off the top of my head would be Jack Bruce, Christian Faith, Champagne Lover, Skull DeBones. </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Beloved Nostalgic Act</strong>: This is someone who's stats wouldn't pop a crowd these days but for whatever reason they are remembered well and the fans like to see them occasionally. So if you sign them for one appearance as a guest the segment rating gets a boost. After two appearances the bonus is lost for 6 months (maybe in a few random cases the fans demand to see more but once or twice is usually enough). The cost to have the worker appear should be adjusted to account for this following (unless its hidden and only revealed when said worker shows up to a big pop). Workers who have a following beyond that should have the appropriate stats to have their segment ratings be correct.</p><p> </p><p> If there would be any way to run reunion specials these are the people you want to make it special.</p>
  4. Contracts are imported along with companies. They don't carry over with workers. When importing a company you will be given the option of importing the contracts of said company.
  5. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="47503" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>John Greed is always my go-to guy when any cultish heel stable is formed, either as the leader, mouthpiece, or just a member. If you're looking for muscle that isn't Scythe, there are a lot of good monster heels that could benefit from a gimmick change near the bottom of the card like Avalanche, Chill or Bear or in development like Son of Vengeance. Could also being in a free agent like Dreadnought.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> thanks for the suggestions. </p><p> </p><p> I've used Greed as the leader or spokesperson for a cult stable. In one of my many unfinished games he was the "power behind the throne". But I saw the "Jimmy Jacobs" render of Mainstream and it came to me. That and he reminded me of a modern young preacher of a megachurch so that's where it came from.</p><p> </p><p> I was thinking more as Joy being the hypocritical positivity preacher and Scythe being this independent force he associates with. He tries to control it but Scythe has a will of his own. They would be more like equals, struggling for power while associating with each other for their own ends. More likely as you said I'll use Greed in the role as spokesperson for Scythe. </p><p> </p><p> Those are some good muscle suggestions. Hell's Bouncer is another one I use for muscle. I really like the Dreadnaught idea</p>
  6. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="47503" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Despite what their attributes might say, I've always seen Parker as the heel and Spade as the face.<p> </p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Wow, I assumed Parker was a heel lol. I never even looked. </p><p> </p><p> Anyway I think Mainstream Hernandez can be a star but I'm not feeling the name or gimmick. In 2016 I had him as Lance Joy. He was a Fallon style entertainer who would do segments with Sam Strong (I unretired and signed him, oops). When that went meh I turned him into a cult leader with the "House of Joy" (Huntington, Sexy and McClean were the "Deacons of Joy", Scythe was the judgment for those who didn't embrace Joy). </p><p> </p><p> Maybe I'll go that way but Scythe obviously won't be mere muscle though. I'm open to something else. Instagram influencer gimmick came to mind but that locks me into heel territory (wrestling fans cheering for an influencer, nah). As would cult leader of course. </p><p> </p><p> Anyway any suggestions appreciated.</p>
  7. Combine the two. You could throw Jumbo in #2 and it still works. Solidifies the natural face turn. You could even have Jumbo return as Jumbo Jackson and get attacked with Crip / Chris / Lobby making the save then they both come out in full Underwater Union regalia after the buried alive match (Jumbo is a sacrifice before the match). This way you bring the history in as an "oh yeah" moment ("they were stable mates weren't they?" the fans think) instead of "Look at what we are about to do!". Question is what to do with an older Jumbo after his help in turning Lobby
  8. Great minds … I posted one of those myself. The file name says shipshirt so there's the artist credit. I believe that one was used in the 2018 Cverse mod from 2016 (converted to 2020 BTW or in the process). Edit: with so many talented artists if the render is the issue there is usually a fix.
  9. Agreed. Don't know the last time I used a non freestyle angle. I used to add a bunch of angles myself. Now I don't have to. I don't think it takes more time either. The added input of freestyle is the same time as looking for the proper angle before.
  10. I usually book him as a glory seeking heel if I do end up with him (if he comes up you almost have to sign him, great looks, really good promo and he's pretty good in the ring). I would even have him fight fellow heels in the name of "justice" (self centered, look at me the hero justice). This year he has an attribute that he is a better babyface. Also he's the only really big star the SWF has. It would really be hard to just take him off the roster (which is why I said I wish they had signed Hawkins or Bach) or use him as a heel. As far as better renders I have A LOT of Cverse pics and plenty of Golden renders that are better. I'm with you on the name and the default render is meh. I attached the one I used in 2016.
  11. <p>As an aside. Any other SWF fans a little disappointed when you found out you inherited Rocky Golden? From the Cverse narrative perspective its great (the SWF replaces Jack Bruce with another figurehead) but he would not be the person I would sign from TCW. I would have taken Wolf Hawkins. Really close in star quality, just as entertaining and a better worker. Not quite as over but fairly close.</p><p> </p><p> (Actually I'd want 2016 Sammy Bach but in 2020 there's some age and he was nerfed a bit). </p><p> </p><p> I guess having lived through the Hogan era which led to the Warrior mini era and the Sid failure and the Luger experiment I'm over the larger than life guys. I'd rather book a guy who can deliver faster paced matches, has a little rebel in him and can realistically look like he is in jeopardy. Something to contrast with the family friendly USPW and their own larger than life hero.</p><p> </p><p> BTW: the narrative of Golden and Nicky in the same place would be incredible. Is Golden the invading enemy? Or does USPW try to promote dual icons. Would they get along? According to the Golden bio the SWF had to outbid several suitors, makes sense the USPW would be one of them. </p><p> </p><p> But in real life yeah if you can get Rocky under contract do it! It makes business sense. From a creative standpoint he doesn't fit my SWF vision and I probably wouldn't have broken the bank to get him.</p><p> </p><p> Am I on an island here lol?</p>
  12. Now to build up their zero pop to something useful. Good signings though. Very entertaining, great looks and decent in the ring.
  13. So many of those Aussie RAW guys are on handshake deals. Anybody here try to grab one or two? I think Loxley and Nicky might be the two best bets but The Captain is a born entertainer.
  14. Well a few impressions (mostly because the more people who weigh in the more data points we have). On the good: I thought I would hate not having letter grades but between that and skill sets becoming less varied (more workers skew toward the middle) I actually find more cool characters that are viable. It also helps to know more about what skills do. Knowing that only a 40 in selling is needed to avoid that worker lowering a match grade makes some of the big men more viable. Also knowing there isn't that much of a functional difference between an 80 or 90 star quality (I'm sure there is some but probably not as much as the difference between a B and an A would indicate). Also a small thing but being able to ignore the disposition change timing is very handy. It allows the user to do things that were historically possible (like Rock's faux face turn in 1998) but not viable (without penalty) in previous versions). Also it helps if the person from the dev fed shows up with the wrong disposition the territory assigned right before I called him or her up. Note maybe its cheesing to use it but the key is restraint. The purpose is to have fun, not to workaround issues. On the downside booking a show is a pain. The arrows, ugh! So counter intuitive because as far as I can tell you can't simply highlight a segment and move it. You have to click on the arrow where the segment currently resides. Its doable but not easy. Also with angles being length sensitive I have to book more of them. I do like road agent notes for angles. I couldn't find a perfect product but I found one that'll work and a couple of others that'll do. Between that and turning off match ratios I'll be OK. I hope more options are added as time goes on. Overall I'm enjoying it. Some up, some down. So those are my thoughts to add to the pile.
  15. I changed up the Rogue / Valiant / Remo storyline. I'm doing the Scythe / John Greed thing (Greed is called the Herald) and added ZWB as a weirdo prophet called "Penance" (making him a weirdo instead of supernatural allows me to avoid the occult penalties he incurs and still gets the character down). Anyway Rogue sneaks in and signs a title match contract meant for Scythe and of course Scythe is none too happy about it. The Scythe stable targets Rogue and Rogue standing alone and in huge trouble turns to the one man who he knows both as ally & enemy: Valiant! Will Valiant help? Can Rogue be trusted? Can they get along? I'll throw Angry Gilmore in the mix too. He'll mostly be serious but he will keep changing whether Rogue (or Valiant) can be trusted based on the last thing that happened and who he is talking to. I'll hold off on Rocky vs Scythe but that will happen. I also turned Awesomeness Unleashed face since their bio (especially Huey's) says the fans like their antics so why fight it? I turn Joey Morgan heel. Those are the only mildly interesting ideas I've done so far. The rest is standard issue stuff (even those are standard but at least have a little depth). I do like the Valiant / Rogue thing, that's a story with legs. Treat it like the Thor / Loki relationship from the Marvelverse. Oh, I also get rid of the Eisens and use my "avatar" as the owner (an incredible color commentator). Its what I want to do. Edit: there are two ways I could go with this. Not the obvious Rogue was conning Valiant and they resume their feud. Yes it would be OK if I really wanted to resume their feud but after the initial gaslight its just Valiant vs Rogue again. The first is the one I plan, Rogue actually can be trusted and he and Valiant work together against this superior force. The second starts like another Valiant vs Rogue feud but twists. Rogue gets in trouble, recruits Valiant then stabs him in the back the week after receiving a mysterious message (presumably from Scythe's camp) and looks like he is going somewhere. However Rogue just isn't Rogue. Valiant knows him better than anyone and something isn't right. Or is it just overthinking? Rogue has hurt Valiant more than anybody in his professional life but even someone like Rogue is a human being who needs help. After deciding to help Valiant finds that Rogue has a sick daughter whom the Scythe squad is using against him, paying for her medical treatments but also making sure Rogue knows if he doesn't "behave" something bad will happen to her.
  16. Hmm … good question as I like to use a subscription based model. 2016 loved it. Besides its a matter of principle. You want my content you gots to pay me for it. Ain't no free rides here and no middle men. Show me the money! This is where a highlight show would come in handy. A little extra dough and a way to sell subscriptions to my network. SWF This Week or something like this.
  17. I used him in this way also. I called him "the Herald". (Theme Music: Comus "The Herald" maybe?, look up and listen at your own risk. If you get past that and say phew stop before "Drip Drip". Or not like me).
  18. Yeah I have to agree. If that is correct it might be a bug. I could see merch taking a bit of a hit and Adam increasing that some for gameplay purposes (cost / benefit of taking the belt off Rocky) but not a 90% drop-off. The money is in the chase too, a hero has to have something to do. I don't have historical figures but I'm pretty sure Hogan, Cena, Austin, The Rock didn't drop too much from losing or not having a belt.
  19. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="47811" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>But no, you're not missing anything. Tight is the way to go if you're all about getting the best possible rating.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Thank you for the thorough explanation.</p><p> </p><p> A possible counterbalance could be that while that best angle gets a slight overness gain for its participants every other angle has the overness gained lessened to simulate that you've trained an audience to single out one angle a night to talk about after and so the others are somewhat forgotten. </p><p> </p><p> I'm not of the school that everything has to balanced and that all possible exploits be eliminated but I think this would be a good cost / benefit idea for the angles and one that can be justified realistically.</p><p> </p><p> Thanks again.</p>
  20. I tried to search for this but didn't find it so apologies if its been asked but for angle focus is there any reason game success wise to use any other setting than "tight Focus"? For the match focus "Main Event Spotlight" is putting all you eggs in one basket. The player is really betting the farm that the main event will come through. By picking one of the other focuses / foci you are lessening the importance of the main event. With angles though its the best one, whichever one that is. Unlike the main event the player doesn't have to choose which angle is the main one. So it seems that allowing lesser angles in the calculation can only serve to hurt the player's show grade. Am I missing something?
  21. Is there still a code that makes everybody wonderful backstage or was it taken out? edit: I guess "Imagine" was taken out. As was "mixitup". probably harder to do with attributes.
  22. Ok fair point. I don't think the A Show / B Show thing works as Prime Time was its own show but yes all the big stuff happened on the syndicated shows. Later it grew in importance but not until they changed it to Raw that it became a main show. In TEW terms you could book it as the main show since they did replay all the weekend happenings and the game doesn't know the difference anyway. It would be easier than realistically booking the syndicated shows and simulating the replayed footage as "angles". I do have to disagree, those TBS squashes were brutal. Long and boring (they had 2 hours to kill). I don't think the WWF syndicated matches went beyond 3 minutes (not including entrances which might account for the difference). Most of the main events when they had them were about 5 minutes with a few notable exceptions. Main idea is that with some creativity a user can successfully book an 80s style big promotion in TEW with a few tweaks but doing it just like they did it probably won't work.
  23. The key phrase is "Like 2013". 2016 hasn't made it to Steam yet so while plans can always change the pattern suggests not for a long time and not while its the "latest game". 2016 might be on Steam if patterns hold. I'd like for it to happen to but I don't see it anytime soon.
