1. Having grown up in the "Squash Match" era here are some thoughts. Firstly it was pretty much only the WWF and Crockett that had parade o squash match TV shows with certain wrestlers too big to appear. They could afford to because they were the leaders. The other regional promotions had to get eyeballs by offering something to watch. The NWA promotions that preceded Crockett often had big main events on their shows (but they had weeks of squashes too). So if you play anybody other than the WWF or NWA (it wasn't too long after they became WCW that their shows began offering better matches if memory serves) you can book a show that TEW will like a little better than the WWF or NWA TV shows. Especially World Class, they were doing the Monday Night War style booking in the 80s. So who was the list of wrestlers who didn't wrestle on TV? In the WWF it was Hogan. Savage and Warrior once they became world champions and Andre. That's really it (edit: forgot Flair and good guy Sid, bad guy Sid was on regular rotation). In the NWA it was Flair and Rhodes. So there are only a few people you have to avoid to accurately simulate the era. If you are doing the WWF you also have Prime Time Wrestling which did have good matches (at least one upper midcard vs midcard or greater match). Its hard to say it was the main show but was certainly an A show. Also the WWF would hire "jobbers" who were actually stars in other companies. We knew Tim Horner & Black Bart were there to lose with little resistance but the game doesn't know that since both were midcarders in WCW. There are others but those are the two I remember. So if I want to book old school I would use one two hour show which would combine the two syndicated shows or represent World Championship Wrestling (there is no way for the game to simulate a highlight show like Prime Time and booking up to 6 hours for Crockett is something I'm not going to do, historical accuracy be damned). I would avoid using my world champion too often along with any other wrestlers at A popularity. I would try to hire 4-6 workers with decent overness who could work to be "jobbers to the stars". I would have a main event each week (this goes slightly against some time periods but there were times these shows had main events almost every week) featuring some "B" popularity talent. As far as PPV you could set up one to represent the house show loop. The WWE had several contracts with local sports networks to telecast house shows. Combine those into one for the months when you don't have a PPV. Find a product where angles are at least equal to matches and popularity or uncheck match - angle ratio and have angles take up half the show. When you factor in the interview segment, the update, "previously on" and the house show promos (or the Gorilla - Heenan segments on Prime Time) they might have been 50-50 angles - matches. Honestly simulating 80s era WWF would be easier than simulating 80s level NWA / WCW. Many of the tweaks you can use to get TEW to like your shows better aren't historically accurate with NWA / WCW. I'm not sure the game would think highly of Ronnie Garvin beating on Jim Jeffers for 10 minutes. TEW would have issues if you try to relive this era just like they did it. But you can get the jist of it and make TEW friendly tweaks and be successful. Especially with the WWF.
 2. If Mikey wins does he get to be Mikey James again? "The Battle For James". Then Brandon has to revert to the "Big Cat" with face paint.
 3. That's the thing, 2016 is so good that I too can live with it. There are a few features in 2020 I would miss if I play 2016 but 2016 plays great and I am used to the interface. I'll be a day one buyer. Adam has earned my trust and respect. And I'll give 2020 a go but I know if it isn't fun 2016 will be there as a nice fallback.
 4. I've only dabbled a bit in modding but as a player I'd prefer one entry to tidy up the job history. Unless there was a significant change involved. Like take Jesse Ventura. I'd make his first two jobs in the WWF different because in one he was a temporary baddie that cycled out in six months (1982 I think) or so but when he came back (early 1984 or late 1983) he was exclusive long term to the WWF and never left (though health issues caused him to take an extended time off before transitioning to the booth). So if ownership and / or terms of employment change I'd create separate entries. Also if there was a significant separation between tours of duty I'd create separate entries. But if it was a regular pattern I'd create one entry for it. This is just me. Others may feel differently and have good reasons for doing so. All I'd say is have fun with Andre's job history lol. Edit: after rereading in Flair's specific case I'd separate where he was absent from All Japan for more than a calendar year. again, just me.
 5. I'm a release day buyer. Adam has earned my trust and respect and there is enough in this game that intrigues me for me to get it. Now if this were another developer but everything else is the same that's a tougher call. I think I'd wait. Make no mistake though, I won't be deleting 2016 off my hard drive for awhile.
 6. Highlight shows would be a good addition to simulate if a company wanted to expand to a new market or just get a new TV contract. The upside is that you wouldn't have to produce new content for your new show ("Black Saturday" anyone) while getting expanded coverage or more money plus possibly kicking a rival off the airwaves. The downside is possible low ratings / fan backlash / broadcaster concerns that this show is just highlights (obviously triggered if you already have a show in the area). Both the WWF and to a lesser extent Jim Crockett Promotions had to struggle with that as they expanded. The WWF mostly chose repackaging with a bit of zip (semi exclusive matches and such), JCP usually tried to produce new content which was expensive and either repetitive or watered down (in the 80s they had up to 6 hours of programming to fill, their roster was good but not modern day WWE deep by any means). But if you just want the effect then run angles like what has already been said. It'll work just fine.
 7.
Good points. For the deaging process couldn't I select "yet to debut" and mass de-age that list?

It won't come out perfect but one or two times around might help. Popularity would be an issue though. Mass edit to zero and pick the ones who would have some buzz and give them some pop.

Edit: I know its 15 years but aging seems to have a dramatic effect. If deaging does likewise three times around might nerf them too much.

Then of course there are those that were added in 2020 who will also get the nerf and be lower than the denerfed rookies (not to mention compared to the rest of the database). Could switch the date to 2020, eliminate the yet to debut and reimport them.

Or … I could wait for updates from the mod lol.

 8.
I am looking forward to this.

What would happen if I deleted all the "Yet to debut" workers then reimported the 2020 workers (it would reject any duplicates).

Is that a quick and easy way to get those workers attributes?

 9. They could be a "60s girl group" themed stable. Maybe with alts that have them wearing a dress (well the top of what would be a dress). Suitable for bubbly faces or annoying overly cheerful or divarific heels.
 10.

Lau is definitely a future World Champ.

I played on the "underdog" role too. I did what old time WCW fans will know as the "Ron Garvin". This is where Flair dropped the belt to him before Starrcade and got it back at Starrcade. In this case Mikey won a Supreme Sixpick match at the June PPV. But he didn't pin the champ Jack Bruce (a heel at the time) to win it. So Bruce gets his rematch at The Supreme Challenge.

Looks like I did the Garvin right, use a quick switch to create a main event where the established star goes over. Except Mikey gets his win over Bruce, confirming he's the top guy. In my mind a great moment because he goes from fluke to for real.

I really liked my last 2016 save … but I bloated the roster as I always do (took a lot longer but I did it) and 2020 is on the horizon. I still have it so I can go back to it.

 11. I had Mikey as my champ for 7 months in 2016 (he was a tough as nails ornery giant killer). I never intended for Davids to be a major player but he got over as a heel and I went with it. I'm excited because I think 2020 will have more of those surprises with flavor of the month and such.
 12. I think giving DuBois some toxic traits (I think he already has them) would be better for the narrative than nerfing him. Here he is, an incredible talent speeding down the road of self-destruction. Can you help him find his way or will he crash & burn, becoming the great "What if?" story of the 2000s?
 13. OK so in the C-Verse for example as long as I'm wiling to flip a few people to balance it out it should work but real world mods are going to be messed up. And there would be no easy way to make minor changes that keeps historical authenticity while avoiding stable splits. Hopefully Adam finds a way to patch it up. I think I can work around it (if turning a few workers before I start a game works) but I hope its fixed for others. Or me if I choose to play a real world mod at some point.
 14. Would the user rebalancing the face - heel makeup before the start of the game in the companies help? It would be nice if the AI could do it but in the absence of that would this be a workaround?
 15. Yes family is important. I think this mod will be great. Some of the best C-Verse characters will still be in their prime. Yes!
 16. Squeeky McClean = John McClean (not very creative but it helps him not be typecast) KC Glenn = Heli Kairos (the Cverse 2018 mod has a render that makes this name make more sense - his moniker is"The Greek Freak" Heil Kairos). Ernest Youngman = Hunter Young (can't do Ernest) Matthew Keith = Matthew Keith-Gauge (wrestling royalty) then MKG. The Amazing Bumfholes = Amazing Grace (Shannon & Evan) Nelson Callum = Krippler Kallum then later Kallum Greg Gauge = Ed Lethal Champagne Lover = too many to mention, some include Seth Reigns, Antonio Rios, Romeo Rios, Del Rios Mainstream Hernandez = Lance Joy (first a Jimmy Fallon styled entertainer then he saw the light and became the leader of the "House of Joy") Hell's Bouncer = Mick Mars Steve Frehley & Des Davids = Axel Rage (different saves) or Axel Creed Brandon James = Logan Wolfe Wolf Hawkins - Seth Hawkins, Sage Hawkins, anything so I could use the word "Wolf" in a name later. Brandon James or Brandon Smith - Brandon Bane Rick Law - Mike Angel Hell Monkey = Luke Ferale (no mask, still a wild fighting style) Steven Parker = Parker Stevens Kirk Jamison = Lumis (throw two parts Elias and one part swashbuckler or medieval bard). Spencer Spade - Sebastian Shaw (I wanted to use the name Spade later) Fro Sure - Jay "Fro" Shure Mutant - Queen T Killer Shark - Wade White (bodyguard gimmick)
 17. This is a serious question: what would this do that unchecking the "match / angle ratio enforced" box and booking matches and angles as you see fit wouldn't do? I'm not saying I wouldn't want to set match / angle ratios or have customizable products but unless I'm missing something there is a workaround.
 18.

What are the new features which have sold it for you?

Honestly I think part of it for me is the need to have the latest and "greatest".

I'll buy it because I respect Adam.

To directly answer your question: well I like that timing turns can be turned off and that I can do heel vs heel without much penalty (with the right settings). That's a biggle. I like some of the new road agent notes for angles and matches. I like that the mat wrestling / submissions / chain wrestling has been narrowed to technical. I like some of the reports I'm hearing on increased depth.

Honestly those are all minor things and if the two TEWs (16 & 20) were side by side (competing titles and both current) and I had to pick just one I think I'd pick 2016. But I also know Adam will make it better.

Why is "current" important? Because I suspect the support / mods / diaries for 2016 will dry up. They are pretty slow now. They'll perk up a bit once 2020 is out of beta but eventually most will switch to 2020 or move on altogether.

 19. In what situations is "dominate" an effective note to use? I assume someone charismatic and menacing would be a lock. At what point of overness is it a waste? Or does it help with momentum more than a victory?
 20. There were free Cverse style pics in a few 2016 mods. Unfortunately I don't remember which mods they came from and the process to get them might be more cumbersome than just doing it yourself (download 2016 mod, copy & paste pics into pictures folder, convert database to 2020, import free pics into database. Then repeat for the other two databases). They had the prefixes CVMJFP, EVFP (maybe the Effverse) and Free_. It added a bunch to mine for 2016. Some of those may now be renders for newly created workers or new CVFPs that come with the default data. I know some people would worry about doubles.
 21. Are you speaking of Fred Ottoman AKA The Shockmaster AKA Typhoon AKA Tugboat etc.?
 22. Does taking the belt off him affect his merch? I see someone else on the thread is going to experiment from the in game perspective but from "real life" the "so over they don't need the belt, give it to someone who does" is a widely believed theory. I guess I'd have to go into the financials to see if taking the belt off Cena (but still using him as the featured player) affects his merch and if that difference transfers (or would transfer with other factors) to the champ. You could have two feature attractions, your champ and your icon. Its also said the money is in the chase. Give Golden something to do beyond stay on top. A goal to shoot for. This could even lead to a different feud while the heel champ is building himself and his chaser / challenger as well. Hopefully the game makes those viable possibilities (if done well)
 23. Sorry, I misunderstood the feature. Oh ok lol. I thought I was "gaming" the system. These being the case then until there's a fix I'll just turn the ratio off. I'm not saying its the best solution but its workable until there is a fix.
 24. I was very relieved once I saw that. Except doing that removes a technique I use where I put the match to angle ratio at 40/60 then run 50/50 shows (since you have a 15% leeway in 2016). This allowed my shows to get slightly higher ratings (since as SWF I always manage one "A" angle but often times not an "A" main event). By turning that off I get rated on the actual ratio I produce, not the ratio my product is set for. Aside from that though I'd just turn it off and book for my product. I understand that players can exploit that and have shows with wildly different ratios but the solution is if you don't like that or think its "cheap" then don't do that. And its not like real life shows don't vary in their ratio of angles to matches. They have a format but I think if you timed it out you'd find some weeks have more angle time (and hence less match time) than others. The one place I'm seeing where not being able to set your own ratio would be bad is the pro mode since I think you have to enforce the angle to match ratio. I have no interest in pro mode (glad its there but I won't use it) so it doesn't affect me. TL, DR: glad I can choose to click off angle/match ratio enforced. Hope Adam fixes it but not a huge deal for me.
