Here is an incredibly niche game built by one person that is a database front end that is priced competitively, has great reviews and is evolving all the time.<p> </p><p> <a href="https://store.steampowered.com/app/1184770/The_Political_Process/" rel="external nofollow">https://store.steampowered.com/app/1184770/The_Political_Process/</a></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Wow that looks interesting. I'm always scared off by "early access" but this sounds like exactly the political game I've been looking for, one that covers everything a politician does instead of one that focuses just on the election or just on policy. Plus the price is very reasonable.</p><p> </p><p> As far as TEW 2020 I'm disappointed so far but I also know Adam will do his best to fix it up. So I'm planning to put it aside for a bit, try not to check in on the progress as much, play TEW 2016 if I want a TEW fix or if I want a game Icewind Dale on my iPad has become my time sink. </p><p> </p><p> I think this is the best way for me to avoid frustration and disappointment. Be patient and let Adam (along with the board's help) fix it up. It'll probably be great and on the slim chance it isn't 2016 is still a fine game. No need for me to stress. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>
  2. Is there a functional difference between the "At ringside" and "Distraction" note? I understand what they are trying to describe but in game terms do they do different things?
  3. <p>I think I know the answer to this but just in case I'll ask to get a definitive answer. </p><p> </p><p> So I've been thinking about getting a PC laptop. Partly so I can play TEW while not anchored to my desk and partly because the ol' desktop can be showin' its age. I was thinking smaller so more portable and I can hook it up to my desktop's screen when I'm at my desk. However some of the UI is hard for me to see. I'm going to assume a smaller monitor would make this worse. And if I get a 4K monitor with the high resolution its going to be small right? I guess I could set TEW 2020 to run in a lower resolution and it will take up more screen, making it easier to see?</p><p> </p><p> And would a super high resolution make those colors more distinct?</p><p> </p><p> Its funny how a $35 game is influencing a $1500 purchase decision. Its not the only consideration but it is one.</p><p> </p><p> Thank you for any help.</p>
  4. This. Very much this. I'm not sure if there is a viable way to do 80s style squash shows even if the player books them. Especially now with match - angle ratios being preset by product (you could do a 70-30 Angle / Match TV split in 2016 and 1 decent graded match and a great interview could get you a good grade). (I won't get too much into how I think they were detrimental to the product and how spicing up the TV shows a little would have gotten more people to watch and even more success, not everything a successful company does is the best option. Still the player should be able to emulate that era ifd they choose. Anyway …)
  5. Are some "top row" skills better / more valuable / help produce better matches than others. For example will a strong technical worker put on a better match than a strong brawler (everything else being equal). How much of an advantage is it to have say a 75 in both Technical and Aerial over a worker having a 75 in Aerial and a 20 in Technical? Besides being able to work more types of matches and with different product styles. Again everything else being equal. I believe if left to their own devices workers will play to their strengths so that's why I ask.
  6. In 2016 was there any difference aside from the saved time of not having to send the worker to developmental? I even got someone to sign a dev deal then as soon as he got there he wanted to be called up. Which made sense as he was a really good worker. I just didn't need him at the moment so I figured I'd let him improve while I stored him but nope. Brought him up a bit later and have to buy off his "Annoyed" morale.
  7. That's what I meant. I used the wrong terminology. For the record according to my reading of the help file a company can only agree to take "developmental" workers from one company (a parent can have multiple agreements to send workers). Reading that in the help file prompted my post. But if the downside that I mentioned isn't there (booking conflicts) then it might act as an "easy" button for smaller companies to access workers they normally would not be able to attract or afford. Just to be clear I understand it would be very strange for an actual child company to accept developmental projects from companies other than their owner. Unless they were part of an alliance.
  8. edit: should read "Companies that accept developmental workers" and not "child companies" That said I think it would be fun to allow a territory to make multiple agreements to accept developmental workers. Realistically it isn't likely but possible if a small company was known for developing talent well. The player controlled company (not the AI controlled ones) could accept workers from multiple territories. The advantages and disadvantages are as follows: Advantages: access to more free workers. Many which would be a step up in popularity and skill from what they could hire. Disadvantages: if you try to match up worker A from company 1 against worker B from company 2 choosing a winner could cause issues as both companies would want the shine to be on their gal or guy. Some delicious decision making possibilities here. Also the balance between "their" workers and the core "home" talent would be another thing to deal with. Would they want to put each other over? Or would they resent "the other side". "I'm from USPW, why do I have to put over some local yokel" (even if in reality both workers are at a similar level) vs "I'm part of this company and I'm being asked to put this person over who won't be here next month?". This doesn't require having multiple "parent" companies (parent being used loosely here) but it would add to it. I doubt this would be added (I'm not sure there are any real world analogies) but it would be a great dimension to running a company that accepts projects from major companies.
  9. I ran an auto booked show with SWF and Remo did an angle that got a 93. Time limits seem to be key. Many of the overness and star quality angles lose points if they go on too long. The help guide has a detailed section on angles.
  10. I think the best way to approach it is to look at the companies. Consider the product and the roster then pick the one you think will best match what you are trying to do. Since quite a bit of this is your imagination the characters will take shape in your head. My vision of Aaron Andrews might be very different than yours and both will match what we know (stats, attributes and bio). I don't think any of them match a real world counterpart that closely though Golden to the SWF does give it a classic WWF feel. Not sure if its the Hogan days or the Luger days.
  11. <p>So far I've only looked at the SWF. Its not the direction I would go if I was running it (I'd have more youth, athleticism and more of an edge) but that aside I love what Adam did. Rocky Golden signing was a masterstroke. Randy Unleashed and ZWB are great reinventions and I did see Guide & Scout are now two great new characters. </p><p> </p><p> Haven't looked too much at the new free agent pool but Youngman & Callum are still there so that's good. Along with LBC.</p><p> </p><p> Once I figure my way around the interface I'll dig in. Having the full game will help also.</p>
  12. <p>Here's a question: how many of you stick to the Cornellverse as presented? What type of changes do you make? For example:</p><p> </p><p> Do you start a game completely without any edits?</p><p> </p><p> Do you start with the same workers but edit gimmicks and dispositions to suit what you would do at the start?</p><p> </p><p> Do you assign the workers to your fed if they would be day 1 signings anyway?</p><p> </p><p> Do you make "trades"? </p><p> </p><p> Do you use the Cverse as a starting point and edit away, putting a radically different spin on it?</p><p> </p><p> Its incredible what Adam has done with it. </p><p> </p><p> Just looking for thoughts on this.</p>
  13. Thanks to you both. I didn't think to look at another skin thread.
  14. I got a run time error when I try to change skins. Is that a known issue? Never mind I see that it is. I changed this to default and the default to default 1. Like my old EWR days when we had to change the data set we wanted to default. This definitely helps. I can even use colors now (though reds are still a bit dark, these old eyes). Great job!

Oh yeah!</p>
  16. I saw the link in reply to this (wouldn't make sense to quote the link) but I'm very happy about being able to do face vs face and heel vs heel. Can have stable wars and fights to be the power players.

With a PC no need to emulate. Well price is another.</p>
  18. <p>Anybody else see a new developer's journal and think … just for a brief moment, that maybe the game would be released a day early? </p><p> </p><p> Its kind of like when you know the heel is going over but you allow yourself to think the face might pull it off. You know it isn't going to happen but you hope anyway.</p><p> </p><p> That's more applicable for fans of the 80s, early 90s wrestling where surprises and swerves didn't happen as much.</p><p> </p><p> Tomorrow comes soon, can't wait.</p>
  19. Oh yeah. I found ESWF on there and some others. Many games had great ideas but never got finished.
  20. The ESWF universe might be an interesting TEW mod. Many great parody characters. Of course I don't remember most of the details.

Thinking about it now, I just feel old. Promotion Wars was definitely the best of the rest but that’s not saying much — there were some tremendously shoddy attempts at alternatives knocking around at that time, many of which never even got finished — and, respectfully, even PW wasn’t anywhere close to EW in any meaningful way. EW Deluxe was miles ahead of anything anyone else (that I’m aware of) had even attempted, and so far the TEW series gets significantly better with every new release. I’m a confirmed purchase as long as the series goes on I reckon.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> I remember Promotion Wars! There was supposed to be a sequel and there kinda was but not really. I think it competed with Extreme Deluxe (it had a few features EWD didn't like feuds) but once EWR came out it was all over.</p>
  22. <p>Play that sucker! Lol.</p><p> </p><p> In all seriousness I'll take a look at the C-Verse, make some mods (nothing too extreme and try not to make it too easy for what I plan to do but things that'll make it enjoyable for me) then take over SWF and restart the youth movement I'm doing in TEW 2016 (I may even convert my 2016 data).</p>
  23. Distinction noted, still somebody had to pay them to chill lol. Making long term deals cost much more keeps the checks and balances in place so good all around then.
  24. Good point. As an aside one thing that WCW did was offer guaranteed contracts that they had to pay even when they went out of business. This was why Hogan, Hall, Nash etc. sat at home before reforming the NWO. If they signed with the WWE before the WCW deal ran out the considerable WCW money went poof. Then again the WWE just released a bunch of mid level talent that thought they had guarantees but apparently not so there's that. Maybe the really famous people could demand guaranteed contracts that worked like the old system (player has to pay the remainder but if they choose to sign somewhere else the player gets the remainder of the money back - probably easier gameplay & coding wise than monthly payments like Turner had to do). I agree real life vs gameplay is an issue. I'd prefer a percentage instead of 6 months (achieves the same effect but adds in longer deals being riskier) but hey if its six months I'll offer longer deals. I adapt to the "world" around me lol.
