They'd been bleeding money for several months and although I was tempted to buy them out and make us the only true representatives of the roaring lion, I just could not invest over 1,5 million when our own promotion was struggling to put a quarter million on the side by the end of the year. Burning Hammer could spend that kind of money, but fortunately they only shut GCG down without buying out its contracts too, so what I did was spend much less to buy back the title belts and hire some of GCG's big name stars.</p><p> </p><p> The next couple of years were spent balancing out the new roster. Yoshinaka Taku defeated Funakoshi at Test of Champions to continue his path towards being established as the new ace of Black Canvas Grappling. The two would then have a bried feud with GCG's ace in Toshiharu Hyobanshi, who they "chased off" until his Burning Hammer contract kicked in. Meanwhile, Maeda's hand picked protege Hiroyasu Gakusha won the BCG National title off Bulldozer Brandon Smith and had an amazing feud against Bunrakuken Torii, before rising up to fill Hyobanshi's spot as the "outsider" former ace of GCG. Takayuki 2000 helped establish the likes og Motoyuki Miyake, Kiyotaka and Gidayu Katou in the upper midcard. MUSCLE Blasters and Partnership of Pain continued to lead our tag team division. Naozane Goto eventually broke out of Conner Threepwood's shadow to establish himself as a singles competitor. Logan Diaz survived his young lion trials and took his spot alongside Ray Snow and Pavel Vanzycha. We brought in some new talent like Ox Mastadon, Mutant, Mario Da Silva and Shiba Mizoguchi as well as a new crop of young lion dojo graduates with the trademark toughness that Shiga and Toshinobu Taku would instill in them. Thus, me and Maeda could finally call it quits and enjoy our retirement away from the business as Shiga and Taku took the reins. We had finally achieved what we had set out to do. We had won.</p>

Just after the end of this year's Yoshifusa Maeda Grand Prix, the announcement was made that Black Canvas Grappling is opening its own dojo, with Shiga as its head trainer and Taku as his assistant. According to insiders, this is the next step in BCG's heavy investment in young, loyal talent and a vote of confidence in the mentorship Shiga and Taku have shown during their time with the company. Already the likes of Motoyuki Miyake, Gidayu Katou, Kiyotaka, Naozane Goto, Eikichi Itou, Shuzo Utagawa and Kyuichi Matsumoto have developed to be dangerous in-ring competitors and a second wave of young lions has already made its presence felt in the likes of Logan Diaz, Jotaro Tanaka and Masato Takizawa, so the promotion's own dojo is only expected to strengthen and enhance this successful tradition.</p>

  7. Yoshifusa Maeda Grand Prix Friday W4 April 2018 Osaka Athletic Stadium, Kinki Attendance: 5.000 (sold out) BCG Challengers Series title match Motoyuki Miyake © vs Gidayu Katou The Yoshifusa Maeda Grand Prix kicked off strong with a title match between former young lions turned legitimately dangerous wrestlers Motoyuki Miyake and Gidayu "The Lariat" Katou. This was, in large part, a celebration of how far they've both come as wrestlers as well as how far the promotion has come in developing new talent and fans cheered both men for their efforts in dishing out and receiving some very stiff hits. Katou pushed the champion more than any challenger so far probably has, but barely missed with his Lariat as Miyake ducked underneath it, only to catch Katou who had rebounded off the ropes with his own finisher, the Knock Out Kick. In a bout that had great wrestling and good heat, Motoyuki Miyake defeated Gidayu Katou in 11:08 by pinfall with a Knock Out Kick. Motoyuki Miyake makes defence number 7 of his BCG Challengers Series title. YMGP A Block match Animal Harker vs MUSCLE Serizawa With both men mathematically out of the race, this fight was purely about bragging rights. Harker had a point to prove after Bulldozer Brandon Smith's singles success as the BCG National champion, while Serizawa still chased his first two points in the Grand Prix. Between the animal's wild brawling and Serizawa's power moves, this was another hard hitting match that still felt different than the strong style-heavy opener and one that Harker won to end his GP for this year at 6 points. In a good match, Animal Harker defeated MUSCLE Serizawa in 10:09 by pinfall with a Stump Piledriver. YMGP B Block match Giant Brody vs Naozane Goto The quintessential hoss fight of the card, this one did a great job of highlighting Brody's athleticism as well as Goto's power. Both men wrestled to a stalemate that seemed to exhaust both their gas tanks and with nothing resolved between them, it will be interesting to see if this leads to the Partnership of Pain eventually challenging Threepwood & Goto for the BCG World Tag Team titles. In a bout that had good heat and decent wrestling, Giant Brody drew with Naozane Goto in 15:00 when the time limit expired. YMGP A Block match Conner Threepwood vs Rokuemon Matsushita The first match of the show to really have any meaningful impact as far as the race for points goes, this was dominated early on by Matsushita who used his power to push for a quick win. Threepwood took a lot of punishment but smartly outgrappled the big man, including a big spot where he reversed a One Handed Choke Slam into controlling his opponent's arm to latch onto in for an armbar. This allowed Threepwood to slow down the pace of the match and wear down Matsushita's stamina, before eventually taking him off his feet and down to the mat for the Stretch Plum. Threepwood was worn out but really excited by the end of the match, as he had just shot himself up to 6 points and would be carefully watching the Vanzycha-Taku clash to find out whether he'd be moving on to the GP finals or not. In a good match, Conner Threepwood defeated Rokuemon Matsushita in 12:47 by submission with a Stretch Plum. YMGP B Block match Blast Ikoma vs Bunrakuken Torii What a world we live in, where two former BCG World champions in Ikoma and Torii are clashing in a match that not only does not headline a BCG show, but is also irrelevant as far as points go. Not that it mattered much to the participants of course, who set out to have a killer match and steal the show in this last chance they had. Were they given more time, this would have been a true epic, but given the show's time constraints, Ikoma and Torii hit the 15 minute time limit still fighting, ending their GP with a time limit draw. In a good match, Blast Ikoma drew with Bunrakuken Torii in 15:00 when the time limit expired. YMGP A Block match Pavel Vanzycha vs Yoshinaka Taku As far as drama goes, this was the killer that would judge the winner of the A Block and thus, fans were pretty hot to see the two competitors fight it out. Vanzycha's rugged resilience was a perfect canvas for Taku to showcase his strongest of strikes while Taku's warrior spirit really shone as he battled to survive everything the Polish wrestler threw at him. With every passing minute, things escalated more and more to peak emotion and finally, the bell rang to signal this match was over as a time limit draw. This left Vanzycha at 6 points alongside Threepwood, while taking Taku just up to 7 to win the A Block. In a bout that had great wrestling and good heat, Pavel Vanzycha drew with Yoshinaka Taku in 15:00 when the time limit expired. YMGP B Block match Funakoshi vs Ray Snow Snow came into this match with the advantage in terms of points but that didn't make him hold back at all against Funakoshi. The BCG star was all to happy to have another instant classic of a match and tension escalated once the bout went past the ten minute mark. Funakoshi stuggled to hit the Butterfly Backbreaker but he did kick out of a Spinning Back fist and when Snow hit the second one in the match to send him stumbling, he tried to go for a third Spinning Back Fist, only to get caught by Funakoshi who finally pulled off his own finisher to win the match as well as the B Block right out of Snow's grasp. In a bout that had great wrestling and good heat, Funakoshi defeated Ray Snow in 13:40 by pinfall with a Butterfly Backbreaker. BCG National title match Bulldozer Brandon Smith © vs Kiyotaka Several months in the making, this match was postponed after Smith's injury and although he's been the BCG National champion for almost half a year, this was barely his first defense of the title. Kiyotaka used sound strategy in trying to avoid the big American's powerful moves and attempting to chop him down for some mat grappling, but Smith looked so fired up he would not be denied and added the exclamation point to his first successful title defense when he stopped a Backdrop Driver mid-move to turn it into a Tombstone Piledriver that looked like it broke the challenger's neck. In a bout that had superb wrestling and good heat, Bulldozer Brandon Smith defeated Kiyotaka in 13:49 by pinfall with a Tombstone Piledriver. Bulldozer Brandon Smith makes defence number 1 of his BCG National title. Yoshifusa Maeda Grand Prix Final Yoshinaka Taku vs Funakoshi As soon as the bell rang, the two men circled each other to let fans soak it in and give announcers a chance to recap the history behind this clash: Funakoshi first met Yoshi Taku in a big singles match in 2016, when they headlined The Lion's Roar V for the BCG World title. Funakoshi won that match to retain the gold, only for Taku to win the first ever Lionheart tournament and set up the rematch exactly one year after, in the main event of The Lion's Roar VI. This time, Yoshinaka Taku beat Funakoshi to win the BCG World title, meaning this was their third ever big clash with either man holding a big win over the other. Now with more time to wrestle the match than they every had during the Blocks stage, Funakoshi and Taku really took things to the next level as they fought a superb match of constant escalating tension, pushing themselves and each other to the limit. Taku, who has held every other title and won every other tournament in BCG except a GP win and a Royal Rumble victory at The Survivor, pushed really hard but ultimately failed when Funakoshi hit him with a thunderous Butterfly Backbreaker to score the pin and achieve his fourth ever Yoshifusa Maeda Grand Prix win. In a bout that had superb wrestling and good heat, Funakoshi defeated Yoshinaka Taku in 15:32 by pinfall with a Butterfly Backbreaker. Funakoshi wins the BCG Yoshifusa Maeda Grand Prix title. 2018 Yoshifusa Maeda Grand Prix Winner Funakoshi Show Rating:

His final match will be against Rokuemon Matsushita and a victory over the big man would take him to 7 points while holding Matsushita away from the top at 5. He'd still be waiting to find out the winner of Vanzycha vs Taku though. Should Vanzycha win and also make it to 7 points, the two have drawn in their own contest and may end up wrestling another tie-breaker match. If Taku wins, the BCG World champion would climb to 8 points and end Threepwood's dreams of winning the block, while a draw between the two would favour Threepwood as he and Taku would be at 7 points each but he holds a victory over Taku in their GP match.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p></p><img alt="TIiOlFj.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/TIiOlFj.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p><strong> Pavel Vanzycha</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> The rugged Polish grappler stands at 5 points and his final match may well be his hardest one against Yoshinaka Taku. Torii used hit and run tactics against the bigger and slower Goto but didn't avoid the big man's hits completely, making this a pretty open contest as time went on. Ikoma and Funakoshi's match is set to headline the fourth night of the B Block and seeing them fight each other here proved they deserve that spot, however it was the BCG Challengers Series champion that tipped the scales in favor of his team with his performance against their opponents' teamwork, ultimately taking out Tanaka with a stiff Knock Out Kick that put the young lion down for the count.</p><p> <strong>In a bout that had great wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Blast Ikoma and Motoyuki Miyake defeated Funakoshi & Tanaka in 10:22 when Motoyuki Miyake defeated Jotaro Tanaka by pinfall with a Knock Out Kick.</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="sma3Die.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/sma3Die.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> Yoshifusa Maeda Grand Prix A Block match</strong></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="B9GBpju.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/B9GBpju.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="25UZG0h.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/25UZG0h.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="4z5J7B2.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/4z5J7B2.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> Animal Harker vs Rokuemon Matsushita</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> The first Grand Prix match of the night had an interesting story to tell, of two competitors in very different situations. Animal Harker came into this match with a big win over Conner Threepwood after a disappointing start to this year's tournament, whereas Matsushita dominated the early stages before his momentum was halted by a time limit draw against the BCG World champion, Yoshinaka Taku. Though not as bad a hit in terms of points, Matsuhsita's latest result seemed enough to shake the big man's confidence and after a rather short, somewhat underwhelming match, Harker hit Matsushita with a Stump Piledriver that put the giant down and cost him two more points in the race while shooting Harker further up the board.</p><p> <strong>In a decent match, Animal Harker defeated Rokuemon Matsushita in 7:31 by pinfall with a Stump Piledriver.</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="mwL0z0W.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/mwL0z0W.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> Yoshifusa Maeda Grand Prix A Block match</strong></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="0KbhnYq.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/0KbhnYq.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="25UZG0h.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/25UZG0h.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="5bss42b.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/5bss42b.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> MUSCLE Serizawa vs Yoshinaka Taku</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> MUSCLE Serizawa came into this match gunning hard for not just his first two points in the Grand Prix but also a victory over the BCG World champion that would allow him to challenge for the title. Taku, while cornered by his opponent's ferocity and two rough draws so far against Threepwood and Matsushita, did not yield and slowly fought against the tide to turn the match around and hit Serizawa with a Full Nelson Bomb for a win that did wonders for his point total but also his morale going into the final round of the Grand Prix against Pavel Vanzycha.</p><p> <strong>In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Yoshinaka Taku defeated MUSCLE Serizawa in 9:25 by pinfall with a Full Nelson Bomb.</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="pyf9Pt4.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/pyf9Pt4.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> Yoshifusa Maeda Grand Prix A Block match</strong></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="gktIeue.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/gktIeue.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="25UZG0h.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/25UZG0h.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="TIiOlFj.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/TIiOlFj.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> Conner Threepwood vs Pavel Vanzycha</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> With Yoshinaka Taku up to 6 points after his win earlier, both Threepwood and Vanzycha had to fight real hard to stay in the race for the top spot in the A Block and their clash reflected just that, a confrontation that was intense physically as well as mentally. Neither risking to make a mistake the other would exploit, the two wrestlers fought methodically but fell victim to their own tactics, because the fifteen minutes this match was given were not enough to crown a decisive winner, thus forcing them to end the night with one point each.</p><p> <strong>In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Conner Threepwood drew with Pavel Vanzycha in 15:00 when the time limit expired.</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="IqChfad.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/IqChfad.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong><strong><span style="font-size:14px;">Show Rating:</span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></strong><img alt="IqChfad.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/IqChfad.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:14px;"> Standings:</span></strong>Yoshinaka Taku (6 points)</p><p> Rokuemon Matsushita (5 points)</p><p> Pavel Vanzycha (5 points)</p><p> Conner Threepwood (5 points)</p><p> Animal Harker (4 points)</p><p> MUSCLE Serizawa (0 points)</p></div><p></p><p></p>

He unleashed a final scything kick on the heavy punchbag, the bass thud and clinking of chain satisfyingly hitting his ears to momentarily overshadow the sound of his heartbeat as he stepped back to take a few deep breaths. There hadn't been a single time he gave anything less than 100% of himself in his training sessions and he carried that principle with him to both the cage and the ring. He still considered himself primarily an MMA fighter, even after almost a decade with Deep Impact Wrestling and now in his second run with that promotion's top title. His mixed martial arts career hadn't been as long or as successful, but it was still his top priority, his love and passion.</p><p> </p><p> He grabbed his water bottle from the nearby floor and took a careful sip. Give into the craving and you'll be throwing up moments later, he had learned the hard way. Drawing a forearm across his bald forehead to wipe the beads of sweat, he swirled the water around his mouth cavity and swallowed. After windmilling his arms a bit to relax the shoulders, he removed the gloves and began untying the wraps around his hands. The knuckles were still ripped in the aftermath of that epic Taipei Deathmatch he had with the Comedian at Sucker Punch. That was the thing some people didn't get about wrestling. You could get around some things, like when the Comedian pretended to choke on clear shards of caramel the fans thought were glass, but others you couldn't. As the old saying goes, you can't fake gravity. You also can't convincingly cut someone's face with caramel shards either. It had to be glass and it cut one's hands as much as it cut the recipient's flesh.</p><p> </p><p> Tombstone would always carefully wrap his hand bandages again after a training session, unlike most athletes he knew who preferred to just throw them in their bag as a tangled mess they'd bother with later. It was his way to show respect to his equipment for protecting him, a character building exercise, but also some time to gather his thoughts after an intense training session. Almost like a meditative trance that would continue into his stretch and mobility routine. He was 26 years old, still a few years before what most industry professionals would consider to be his prime. He was a lean 182lbs, a short bulking round before hitting the heavyweight division numbers. He was dangerous both on his feet and on the ground. He had all the physical properties of a peak performance level athlete. And while he wasn't exactly the type who'd whip fans into a frenzy with his trash talk before a fight, he had the looks and charisma to make them care once that bell rang. RAW had Swoop McCarthy, APW had Nathan McKenzie and DIW had him.</p><p> </p><p> He tightened his fists into punches and brought them close to his face, inspecting every cut from up close. The MMA scene in Australia was nothing more than a few sporadic indy shows every year, so perhaps it was time to accept the fact that his future lay not inside a cage but around a wrestling ring. DIW had been kind to him, but their style was not an easy one to work with. The fans were bloodthirsty and judging from veterans like Mulhoney and the Comedian, no amount of money could make up for the toll hardcore wrestling took on one's body in the long run. Still, neither RAW nor APW had given him a call to offer an alternative. APW especially, he'd been hoping McMinister would love to steal his rivals' star or at least try to restore some star power after RAW raided his own roster in turn. That's how the business worked, big fish would eat little fish and wrestlers tried to be that yummy food to end up in the belly of the bigger beast and soak up as much cash as they could before being digested and shat out once they were old or fans were tired of them.</p><p> </p><p> Now finished with his stretching, Tombstone took one last deep breath and let it out in a long exhale. He needed a shower and he needed it fast. There was no food in the kitchen above and he had an anabolic window to catch.</p>
  12. Yoshifusa Maeda Grand Prix B Block Night 3 Tuesday W3 April 2018 Fukuoka Hall, Kyushu Attendance: 250 Yoshinaka Taku & Kyuichi Matsumoto vs MUSCLE Serizawa & Jotaro Tanaka A decent opening contest, this one was meant to also be a preview of next week's clash between Yoshi Taku and MUSCLE Serizawa. Although Serizawa has yet to pick up any points in the Grand Prix so far, with three matches to go still he should not be counted out and if nothing else, he showed in this match he is a dangerous opponent that may well cost the BCG World champion some precious points on his own GP race. In a bout that had decent wrestling but didn't have much heat, Yoshinaka Taku and Kyuichi Matsumoto defeated MUSCLE Serizawa and Jotaro Tanaka in 10:25 when Kyuichi Matsumoto defeated Jotaro Tanaka by pinfall with a Matsumoto Murder Bomb. Conner Threepwood & Shuzo Utagawa vs Pavel Vanzycha & Logan Diaz Threepwood and Vanzycha have so far done better in the Grand Prix than many critics would give them credit for at the start, so naturally their upcoming clash is hotly anticipated and expected to be decisive in how this year's Grand Prix plays out. For now, Vanzycha had the slight advantage and his team got the win here, courtesy of his outstanding young lion teammate, Logan Diaz. In a decent match, Pavel Vanzycha and Logan Diaz defeated Conner Threepwood and Shuzo Utagawa in 9:39 when Logan Diaz defeated Shuzo Utagawa by submission with a Boston Crab. Rokuemon Matsushita & Double K vs American Demolition Mk.II & Motoyuki Miyake Every man had a nemesis in this last of the undercard matches, meaning this six man tag built up three different future matches at once. Matsushita, whose undefeated streak was broken after he drew with Yoshinaka Taku, will be facing Animal Harker who finally managed to get his first two points in this year's GP with a big victory over Conner Threepwood. Kiyotaka, who is set to face Bulldozer Brandon Smith for the BCG National title and of course, Gidayu Katou who will be challenging Motoyuki Miyake for the BCG Challengers Series title. All six men had great exchanges back and forth, as well as some double team maneuvers from Double K and AmDem Mk.II, but it was Harker who scored the pin over Katou with a neck crunching Stump Piledriver. In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Motoyuki Miyake and American Demolition Mk.II defeated Rokuemon Matsushita and Double K in 10:03 when Animal Harker defeated Gidayu Katou by pinfall with a Stump Piledriver. Yoshifusa Maeda Grand Prix B Block match Funakoshi vs Giant Brody Funakoshi had a rough start to the Grand Prix and facing Giant Brody did not make things any easier for him. On top of the big man's size and power, Funakoshi had to also fight against his own exhaustion from a gruelling schedule so far as well as the riddle of how he would be able to hit the Butterfly Backbreaker on his massive opponent. Brody gave him a lot of trouble from the opening of the match, but Funakoshi showcased his trademark resilience as well as a high in-ring IQ, adapting to focus his stiff kicks on chopping down Brody's vertical base and working his legs for a rare submission victory. In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Funakoshi defeated Giant Brody in 9:08 by submission. Yoshifusa Maeda Grand Prix B Block match Blast Ikoma vs Naozane Goto An interesting contest featuring two wrestlers that began strong but stumbled along the way, this one mirrored the previous bout but featured a lot more technical wrestling instead of brawling or strong style. Goto sought to bully his smaller opponent around whilst Ikoma had to adapt his offence to face an opponent he couldn't hope to lift up. Some unexpectedly long chain wrestling sequences were pulled off as the two jockeyed for position but eventually the massive Goto his his finisher and fell on top of Ikoma for the pinfall that put him back in the points race. In a decent match, Naozane Goto defeated Blast Ikoma in 8:50 by pinfall with a Goto Slam. Yoshifusa Maeda Grand Prix B Block match Bunrakuken Torii vs Ray Snow And in the night's main event, the two men on top of the B Block scorecard faced off in a decisive bout. Between Snow's strikes and Torii''s rapid fire forearms, this one was as physical as they come and almost felt like a martial arts contest, though both men eventually had to pace themselves and incorporate some grappling to their approach. In the dramatic finish, Snow barely ducked under Torii's finisher to avoid it, before connecting with his own Spinning Back Fist for the pinfall. In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Ray Snow defeated Bunrakuken Torii in 12:54 by pinfall with a Spinning Back Fist. Show Rating: StandingsRay Snow (6 points) Funakoshi (4 points) Bunrakuken Torii (3 points) Naozane Goto (3 point) Blast Ikoma (2 points) Giant Brody (0 points)
  13. Yoshifusa Maeda Grand Prix A Block Night 3 Monday W3 April 2018 Matsumoto Hall, Tohoku Attendance: 206 Bunrakuken Torii, Motoyuki Miyake & Kyuichi Matsumoto vs Ray Snow & Diazawa Torii and Snow currently stand on the top two spots of their block and their match is highly anticipated, thus this six man tag was a strong opener to the show, with Miyake and Diaz especially looking great alongside their respective team leaders. Masao Takizawa was clearly the weakest link in the mix, not just in terms of performance but also stamina, a factor that allowed Matsumoto to score the pin over him by 7:30. In a decent match, Bunrakuken Torii, Motoyuki Miyake and Kyuichi Matsumoto defeated Ray Snow and Diazawa in 7:23 when Kyuichi Matsumoto defeated Masao Takizawa by pinfall with a Spinal Shock. Blast Ikoma & Double K vs Naozane Goto, Bulldozer Brandon Smith & Eikichi Itou Ikoma and Double K had a rough challenge here against the power trio of Goto, Smith and Itou, resulting in a very physical contest. Goto and Ikoma had some spots between them to hype up their upcoming GP clash, as did Kiyotaka and Smith who will be wrestling each other for the BCG National title. In a bout that had decent wrestling but didn't have much heat, Blast Ikoma, Kiyotaka and Gidayu Katou defeated Naozane Goto, Bulldozer Brandon Smith and Eikichi Itou in 8:59 when Gidayu Katou defeated Eikichi Itou by pinfall with a Lariat. Funakoshi & Tanaka vs Giant Brody & Shuzo Utagawa In the last of the preliminary matches, Funakoshi and his young lion partner Jotaro Tanaka teamed up once again to face Brody and Utagawa. Although Brody has been less than stellar in the Grand Prix so far, he is still a dangerous and powerful opponent, especially since Funakoshi had to make up for his young teammate's inexperience. Utagawa, in comparison, was a lot more helpful towards his teammate and even got the win for his team, with Brody and Funakoshi set to clash the following night and nothing settled between them yet. In a bout that had decent wrestling but didn't have much heat, Giant Brody and Shuzo Utagawa defeated Funakoshi & Tanaka in 5:48 when Shuzo Utagawa defeated Jotaro Tanaka by submission with a Sleeper Hold. Yoshifusa Maeda Grand Prix A Block match Pavel Vanzycha vs MUSCLE Serizawa Serizawa's power and intensity was a perfect way to highlight Vanzycha's resilience and ruggedness, making this match a tad more exciting than one would expect. Vanzycha didn't have it easy, but he did pick up the win and in a somewhat unusual manner too, switching his usual submission finisher for a Double Arm Powerbomb that beat Serizawa in his own game. In a decent match, Pavel Vanzycha defeated MUSCLE Serizawa in 8:40 by pinfall with a Double Arm Powerbomb. Yoshifusa Maeda Grand Prix A Block match Conner Threepwood vs Animal Harker Probably the shocker of the night, this match saw an overly confident Threepwood underestimate his opponent, thinking he'd easily contain him to the mat for a stretch. Harker was having none of it however and repeatedly powered out of Threepwood's submission holds before hitting him with a crunching Stump Piledriver for the pin and his first two points in the Grand Prix. In a bout that had decent wrestling but didn't have much heat, Animal Harker defeated Conner Threepwood in 11:20 by pinfall with a Stump Piledriver. Yoshifusa Maeda Grand Prix A Block match Rokuemon Matsushita vs Yoshinaka Taku Under normal circumstances, Yoshi Taku would be the clear favourite in this match. However, the BCG World champion had already stumbled against Conner Threepwood, as opposed to Matsushita who came into this match with an undefeated streak so far in the Grand Prix. This made the match feel like it could go either way and the in-ring action played out exactly like that: Matsushita looked for a quick pinfall but couldn't get it against the unyielding champion. As the match went on and the big man was running out of gas, it looked like Taku had the advantage, but he still had to solve the riddle of how to bring down the big man and especially how to hit the Full Nelson Bomb on him. Things escalated to a dramatic finish and eventually the time limit was reached, leaving both men with one point each and the match with an inconclusive end. In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Rokuemon Matsushita drew with Yoshinaka Taku in 15:00 when the time limit expired. Show Rating: Standings:Rokuemon Matsushita (5 points) Yoshinaka Taku (4 points) Pavel Vanzycha (4 points) Conner Threepwood (3 points) Animal Harker (2 points) MUSCLE Serizawa (0 points)

The two of them used their speed, recklessness and more than a couple of steel chairs to get the job done against the Guru’s ringside guidance (and frequent interference), Spawn’s intimidating power and Jester’s maniacal wrestling style. In the end, it was AusDev’s own inconsistency that cost him the match, causing him to blow a spot and set up a spectacular finish, with Satan’s Spawn laying him onto a table for Hell’s Jester to hit the Punchline [Atomic Arabian Facebuster] and put him through it. Winners: House of Horrors With a mic in hand, the Guru of Gore joined his clients in the ring to celebrate their victory, his eyes fixed on the body of Australian Devil lying in the debris nearby. Guru: “Isn’t it ironic how last month’s big event was called Devil’s Playground… but none of the devil’s representatives were around? We’re here to fix that omission and I’m glad to see it’s not just us… Already the Australian Devil is on his way towards enlightenment and I was happy to see another devil, this one from Brisbane, arrive… Pretty soon, we will be ready to perform the Ritual of Ravaging and then… we will OWN Deep Impact Wrestling!” The Guru of Gore does his best evil mastermind cackle as Hell’s Jester and Satan’s Spawn pose around him. Hawkins: Ritual of Ravaging? BJT: Is that like some financial trick to grab the majority of DIW’s stock? Because I have news for this clown, there is no such thing as DIW stock! DIW Tag Team titles match The Bad Truckers vs Samoan Demolition A quintessential hoss fight, this match sees all four big men go at it with big strikes, slams and avalanches back and forth. For a Truckers match, this one is surprisingly crisp, lacking the organized chaos that has become their usual M.O. It’s an even contest, with both teams having strength as well as experience on their side, until… <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/6b5czixF1dg" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> Hawkins: Oh not him again! BJT: He did say something about the Brisbane Devil earlier, think that’s why he’s here? The Guru calmly makes his way to the ringside area and closely observes the rest of the match, applauding whenever the Brisbane Devil pulls off a big move. His actions do seem to irritate the wild Samoan though, who probably considers the applause to be a mockery and shifts his attention from the match to hit the ropes... *BANG!* Devil just threw his full weight at the Guru! Guru hits the ringside floor hard! Brisbane Devil has his back turned on the Truckers! Big Rig! Cover! One… Two… THREE! Winners: The Bad Truckers <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/gjKFCYzqq-A" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> Blaze Maximum makes his grand entrance and struts his way to the ring with Miss Cerizabeth by his side. From under his hat, he produces a microphone and signals he has something to say before his match next. Blaze: “Ooooh yeah, Blaze Maximum had this brilliant idea tonight… you see, it’s no secret that we’re only a few minutes before Blaze Maximum is crowned the first ever DIW Hardcore champion… but it’s not going to be an easy fight, no. By the end of it, Blaze Maximum will be victorious, but he’ll probably be tired, bruised and bloodied too. So I figured, this shouldn’t be reason enough to deprive fans of Blaze Maximum from hearing a Blaze Maximum victory speech. So, as the inevitable winner of this tournament and near-future DIW Hardcore champion, I’d like to say…” <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/6EWqTym2cQU" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> Mayhem Mulhoney’s music interrupts the speech and the man runs down to the ring to attack Blaze Maximum, starting the match! DIW Hardcore Championship title match w Mayhem Mulhoney vs Blaze Maximum (with Miss Cerizabeth) Mulhoney brawls with Blaze Maximum all the way to the ring, using the guardrail to inflict some damage before getting his opponent in the ring to continue the beatdown. He hits a few of his trademark moves, but never goes for a cover. Instead, he roars in a rush of adrenaline as fans cheer in approval, but when he reaches to his corner for the chain he carries to the ring around his neck, it's not there! Hawkins: His chain is gone! Miss Cerizabeth took it! BJT: That's a great manager right there, Dean! She's studied the opposition, she knew what Mulhoney would eventually be up to and denied him a chance to use that chain! Hawkins: Look at her mocking him as she dangles that chain! Mulhoney goes to chase Miss Cerizabeth but Blaze Maximum interrupts, making the best of his manager's distraction! It's now Blaze on the offensive and he brawls Mulhoney to a corner! Miss Cerizabeth caught Mulhoney with his own chain! Hawkins: He's trapped! She's choking him out! With Mayhem Mulhoney busy, Blaze Maximum leaves the ring and returns with a ladder! Meanwhile, Mulhoney's escaped and charges, throwing his own body onto his opponent! Hawkins: Mayhem Mulhoney isn't afraid to wreck some havoc, regardless if he's taking or doing the damage! BJT: I think that ladder caused enough damaged to both men upon impact, Dean! Not to be outdone, Mulhoney pulls a table from under the ring, slides it in and goes to set it up, but Blaze Maximum clobbers him from behind with an elbow to the head! Hawkins: Looks like Blaze Maximum has an idea, he's tapping his elbow... and points at the ladder! He's setting up the ladder! BJT: I think he wants to drop an elbow of the top of the ladder! Mulhoney kicked the base of the ladder! *CRASH!* Blaze Maximum landed through the table! BJT: What's he doing?!? Cover him! Hawkins: Mulhoney's climbing the ladder too! Mulhoney's on top... seems to be having second thoughts... He's climbing up to the lights! Mulhoney kicks away the ladder... onto the fallen Blaze Maximum! HOLY SH...!!! Hawkins: What a dive! BJT: Now THAT is a suicide dive, folks! Cover! One… Two… THREE! Winner: Mayhem Mulhoney Having picked up the victory, Mayhem Mulhoney rises from the wreckage and is handed the DIW Harcore title belt. Mulhoney holds it up in the air in triumph, then leaves the ring to celebrates with fans at ringside before returning backstage. Six Man Gang Wars Grudge match w The Barracudas (Vaughan, Rourke & Chase) vs Pinn Enterprises Ltd (Pinn, Mueller & Dobberly, with Lori) This match was exactly what one would expect from these two gangs, a violent, chaotic brawl with little to no actual wrestling but plenty of weapons spots and buckets of blood. Gareth Case looked like he's finding his footing in DIW and wasn't again surprised by the shortcuts Pinn Enterprises Ltd would seek to take or Dobberly's attempts to lock in a Full Nelson. Pinn and Vaughan brought their size, power and intimidating presence while Rourke and Mueller showcased some high intensity energetic brawling, with the match ending in favor of the Barracudas after Case played possum to lure in Mueller for the punt kick, only to grab his foot and catch him in a schoolboy for the three count. Winners: The Barracudas DIW Championship title match Taipei Deathmatch Tombstone © vs The Comedian The two fighters come out with their fists taped and razor sharp glass shards glued to the outer side of their hands. The match plays out a lot like a boxing contest, with Tombstone controlling the distance and dodging gracefully all of the Comedian's wild swings. At one point, Tombstone sidesteps and counters with a knee to the gut of the Comedian, before unleashing a huge uppercut. The Comedian's face is bleeding! Hawkins: The Comedian retreats to the outside to recollect himself... BJT: Tombstone is stalking his every move, not leaving the ring... he knows out there it's where the Comedian is most dangerous! The Comedian grabs a folded chair from under the ring apron and returns to the ring. He swings... Blocked! Swings again! Blocked again! Hawkins: Tombstone protected his head again and again, but his hands seem to have lowered... look at his expression, he is clearly in some pain. BJT: I think that was the Comedian's plan all along, Dean, he's driving those glass shards further into the fists of his opponent! The Comedian throws a wild haymaker, easily avoided by the mixed martial artist... Tombstone tries to lock in the Rear Naked Choke! He's got it! The Comedian drops on his back! Tombstone goes back first onto that chair! Cover! One… Two… Kick out! Hawkins: The Comedian is enraged! BJT: Forget a fistfight, he's stomping a mudhole on the fallen champion! The Comedian unleashes a series of stomps onto Tombstone, then leaves the ring again to return with a leather pouch... Hawkins: Thumbtacks? The Comedian empties the sack's content onto the ring mat... It's more glass shards! He scoops up Tombstone... Running Powerslam! Onto the glass! Tombstone's back is torn in shreds! Cover! One… Two… Kick out again! Hawkins: How does he do it?! Tombstone slapped on the Rear Naked Choke before The Comedian could get up! They're rolling all over the shattered glass! Tombstone ends up on top! Hawkins: That's where his MMA experience comes into play, Tombstone is now on top of the mount. BJT: He's in control and he's also pushing his full weight onto Comedian, who's face first onto that glass! HE CAN'T BREATHE! THE COMEDIAN IS COUGHING UP GLASS SHARDS! HE TAPPED! HE TAPPED OUT! In the end, it was all left unresolved though as 15 minutes simply weren't enough to determine a decisive winner between these two warriors and the show ended with fans giving both men a standing ovation for their outstanding performance.</p><p> <strong>In a bout that had superb wrestling and good heat, Bunrakuken Torii drew with Funakoshi in 15:00 when the time limit expired.</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="OMqWx1U.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/OMqWx1U.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong><strong><span style="font-size:14px;">Show Rating:</span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></strong><img alt="sma3Die.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/sma3Die.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:14px;"> Standings:</span></strong>Ray Snow (4 points)</p><p> Bunrakuken Torii (3 points)</p><p> Funakoshi (2 points)</p><p> Blast Ikoma (2 points)</p><p> Naozane Goto (1 point)</p><p> Giant Brody (0 points)</p></div><p></p><p></p>

This is where she felt she belonged. She never was a people's person, really. Maybe if WINNOW ever took off, she'd hire someone else to do the public stuff, press conferences, interviews or even present themselves as an authority figure. For now, she had actualy work to do.</p><p> </p><p> "Great work everyone" she began, her bass tone instantly drawing the attention of her workers. "Connie, Gorgon, Karen, Zofia... please step forward"</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="0zz5IM2.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/0zz5IM2.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="HswIKR1.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/HswIKR1.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="l9oAwcE.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/l9oAwcE.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="gNAvpd9.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/gNAvpd9.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> The four women stepped forward indeed. Ichihara couldn't help but notice how the massive Connie Morris was looking down to the ground, like a child that's accepted they're about to be grounded.</p><p> </p><p> "I want to thank you for your help in getting this company off the ground. For teaching the girls how to work a match and passing the torch to the next generation. We are all honoured to have had you with us."</p><p> </p><p> Ichihara hugged each of the four women, who then began hugging their friends in turn. Gorgon especially had a pretty sentimental moment with her protege, Claire Winters. People were already raving about how she was going to be a big star and Gorgon had seen it too when she took her under her wing. Jankovic was having a little chat with her ongoing rival, Thea Davis. They probably knew. Bilous and the Bruisers were past their prime, but Zofia still hadn't hit her thirties. Throughout the past year, there were a couple of occasions where their booking dates had clashed. They chose to go with EWA and Jankovic was probably paying for it now. Davis still had time on her deal, but probably felt she was also on hot territory. Were she not such an amazing wrestler, Ichihara thought, she'd be joining Jankovic on the way out tonight.</p><p> </p><p> "Listen up, ladies" Ichihara's booming voice came out again once the hugging had died down a bit. "2016 was the year we tried to figure things out and get this company running. And I'm proud to say, thanks to all of you, we did just that, even with the sea itself trying to bury us alive"</p><p> </p><p> There was a round of applause. It felt like she was cutting a promo, pacing herself to give listeners a chance to hear, understand, feel and react.</p><p> </p><p> "2017 is going to be the year where we establish our identity. I'm looking to focus on fast paced, exciting junior matches like EXODUS or Burning Hammer's junior division. The Missouri Bruisers are gone, but I'm keeping Kaori and Deborah as our Japanese and gaijin monster heels respectively. No more big ladies though. Second, we'll be bringing in some talent from the dojo to develop. That means as much as I hate to let our top stars go, you girls need to move on. Make your arrangements, call up people, because once your contracts have run out, I'm letting you walk. That is all, see you at training tomorrow!"</p>

Team Endorphine were off to a fast start, looking to end the match quickly but once their tactics only got them to a couple of near falls, the tide shifted against them and Miyoshi finally broke under the hail of strikes from the opposition.</p><p> <strong>Winners: Romi Yamato & Laura Flame</strong></p><p><strong> Finish: Flame Fire Kick</strong></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="vPM9lw6.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/vPM9lw6.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="9GCKJ3d.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/9GCKJ3d.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> WINNOW Pure Heart title match</strong></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="RCvIapy.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/RCvIapy.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="25UZG0h.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/25UZG0h.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="NoBX4AM.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/NoBX4AM.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> Rei Chikanatsu © vs Ochiyo Iijima</strong></p><p> Ochiyo Iijima made an impact upon her debut with a singles win over fellow hard striker Laura Flame, before pinning Chikanatsu in a six woman tag match at the final Neon Genesis Evolution show of 2016, thus earning herself the right to challenge the masked fan favourite for the gold. Chikanatsu's game plan was to keep her challenger grounded and take away her offense as she worked on the legs to set up her finisher, which did work to a great extent; however, Iijima tapped into her judo background to fight back on the mat and even hit a signature aerial move from back in her "Space Age" days before pulling off her new devastating Knock Out Kick finisher for the big win.</p><p> <strong>Winner AND NEW WINNOW Pure Heart champion: Ochiyo Iijima</strong></p><p><strong> Finish: Knock Out Kick</strong></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="7EqFCw6.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/7EqFCw6.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="8sEkkAa.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/8sEkkAa.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="aqw0BcD.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/aqw0BcD.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="eA6BAyW.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/eA6BAyW.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="25UZG0h.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/25UZG0h.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="R5hc6Zf.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/R5hc6Zf.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="vhgBwyi.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/vhgBwyi.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="GtkXUah.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/GtkXUah.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> Eri Sato & Torment and Sorrow vs Rika Tsujimura & Hunter-Killers</strong></p><p> Another chapter in Torment & Sorrow's attempt to get a match against Hunter-Killers for the WINNOW Duet titles, this six woman tag was well received and probably the best match of the night, as it featured several popular wrestlers, built-in drama and of course, excellent wrestling. A very open ended, competitive match that went on for nearly fifteen minutes, this did end in favor of Sato's team but not quite how Torment & Sorrow would like, since Maki Yoshifumi was able to score the pin on Tsujimura and not one of the two champions.</p><p> <strong>Winners: Eri Sato & Torment and Sorrow</strong></p><p><strong> Finish: Duck-Under Head Kick</strong></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="pyf9Pt4.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/pyf9Pt4.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="w7nP9VI.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/w7nP9VI.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> WINNOW Grand Champion title match</strong></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="zPaHPzb.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/zPaHPzb.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="25UZG0h.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/25UZG0h.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="NVsHmIw.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/NVsHmIw.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> Chitose Ariwara © vs Joanne "J-Ro" Rodriguez</strong></p><p> Joanne Rodriguez earned a shot at the top prize of the company when she won the 2016 Joshi Royalty Summit, but the fact she did that by beating Chitose Ariwara added a special feeling to this (re)match. Without holding anything back, the two women set off to a frantic pace as they sought to out-do each other with every move, pulling off bigger and bigger maneuvers as they went on. Fans loved every bit of this, even if they were a little burned out by the semi main event earlier, and eventually it came down to stamina and resilience. Ariwara began to slow down and show signs of exhaustion, which only fired up the killer instinct of Rodriguez. Keeping the tempo fast and never allowing the champion to catch a breath, Rodriguez pressured as best as she could and after a big J-Rocker, finally managed to score the pin and claim the title.</p><p> <strong>Winner AND NEW WINNOW Grand Champion: Joanne Rodriguez</strong></p><p><strong> Finish: J-Rocker [Face Crusher]</strong></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="vPM9lw6.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/vPM9lw6.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong><strong><span style="font-size:14px;">Show Rating:</span></strong></p><p> <img alt="vPM9lw6.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/vPM9lw6.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div></p></div><p></p><p></p>
  24. I know, I know, I have a ton of diaries going on but this semi-alternate timeline documentary thing is a project I really want to do and unlike most of my other diaries, this one comes with a clear expiration date: from the start of the Cverse97 mod to November of 2005, when (according to CVerse canon) Kajahara set up WEXXV, so 8 in-game years. Should be kinda short, the presentation will be as condensed as I can manage and 8 in-game years with a touring promotion (read: off months) that's struggling to even survive should guarantee this will be over quick, right? Right?
