  1. To be fair dude if you are talking about guys having scars but trying to say the injuries are superficial I’m not sure I can totally agree. Any time of match that is leaving you permanently scarred I wouldn’t say is low risk. Maybe the chance of falling off a ladder onto your head isn’t there. But cutting yourself to shreds is a risk.

     

    Couldn’t you create your own version of the match with a much lower risk level if that’s your feelings on it? I’ve not tried creating my own matches yet so can’t pass comment on it.

  2. What I've come to realize is that sometimes when people throw the word exploit around or talk about things that should be fixed its very so-so to me. On one hand you have people who play to just have fun and fantasy book while being gamey and getting whomever they like to the top as quickly as possible without the use of an editor. On the other you have people who are gung ho about the realism the game provides and or needs and that's how they have fun with the game. Lately what I've noticed is that those who have a more gamey playstyle... their voices are usually drowned out by those who prefer realism or playing the game the "right" way. I believe its because those who want more of a sim are much more vocal about their dislikes and likes while the other side is very hush hush. Adam only sees one side of the argument majority of the time which is why I believe the game has drifted in the direction its currently going in.

     

    It's not that us gamey players are being disenfranchised...its that we rarely if ever speak up. Also, when we do speak up we have some people beat us over the head with the don't like don't buy or the its a simulator play it that way type of deal. At some point in time sim lovers have taken ownership in a way of what TEW is supposed to be completely forgetting that it's two types of players with the TEW franchise. It's just sad that one side of the spectrum is being left behind. That blame can be placed on all shoulders not just one side. It's a problem I don't see ever being fixed personally. This isn't an attack on those who enjoy the sim side of things as that's your right as a consumer. I've spent my 35, I enjoy certain aspects of the game, but at the end of the day this version just isn't my cup of tea and that is Fine. It is ok for people not to be in love with the new game especially as paying customers.

     

    Everyone should respect everyone's opinions whether they agree or not and for the most part we do and that's why I come here everyday to web stalk :D. All I can say is to my more sandbox, gamey, or whatever you'd like to call yourself type of players is to speak up in the suggestion thread or whatever thread possible. Don't be discouraged by possible responses to your opinions and feelings. That is why it appears we've been left behind in some way is because we aren't as vocal.

     

    For me I won't speak up because who am I to say that my way of playing is right and the game is wrong really.

     

    MY worry is the game does seem to have divided people more. I personally will carry on trying to get into the game. But there seems to be a few people coming to the conclusion the game just isnt for them. My worry with that is you've got a reasonably niche game starting to further narrow down the pool of people it appeals to. That has worrying implications for the games future.

Those first few weeks/months could be a rollercoaster of fans trying to figure out if they care, and the longer they're in the company, the more stuck in their perception they become. Major Star and Star and Unimportant are measurements of importance, but Well Known and Recognisable are measurements of popularity. But currently as it stands I need to book him for a an elongated period of time for him to move into major star etc. I think you should be able to circumnavigate that somehow in these situations. If Kane turns up and attacks the Taker and dominates for a couple of weeks hes going to be perceived by the fans very quickly as a major star. Also Kane debuting was incredible and probably some of the best WWF writing in years. No one was sat at home thinking who on earth is this dude I know nothing about, he was must see, I want to know who this guy is and what is he about booking. Now in TEW terms booking him uber strong is going to get dinged in the ratings while he crawls up all those other rungs to get to the top. </p><p> </p><p> I actually think your suggestion of the longer someone is in a company the harder to move their perception is. It makes total sense as most of us would view someone like Dolph Ziggler as mid card talent so harder to move that without really bending over backwards to book him strong. Much like John Cena will always be a huge star no matter what etc. </p><p> </p><p> Thats why I think the system would have made more sense by having both ideas in there. Perception and actual placement on the card are not always relevant. I also think you take away that dynamic of wrestlers being annoyed as they have no push to be annoyed by. They are being judged only on what the fans want for example. Baron Corbin I guess would be a good example of someone perceived to be a bit naff but higher on the card than he should be. Neville a good example of how he was perceived by the fans as being better than the push he was given. So I just think having both in there would have led to some really interesting dynamics within the game. Like I say I don't know about programming at all, nor have I really sat down to flesh the idea out as I know its not something that will change for this game. But feels like a missed opportunity. I also think removing things like the pushes like mid card etc dumbs the game down a little.</p>

I don't go on the Football Manager forums and say I should be able to play the games because I like being able to play the matches. I think perhaps the game has just evolved into a way I dont enjoy as much. For me personally my enjoyment is held back mainly by some of the mechanics around pushes and fan perception. Also my company of choice hasn't really changed much from where it was 4 years ago and feels a bit of a let down. Kinda like you haven't watched you favourite TV programme for 4 years you flip it on and its all the same people by and large doing the same things. I think one of the issues is waiting so long for a game and 16 has become a comfortable pair of slippers so switching to something new is always going to feel weird. However I think you took what I said the wrong way. I'm not saying I'm good, in fact I'm saying I've got a tiny mind so have no clue on how these things should work or what should be done. I do however think the perception replacing push hinders me quite a lot. I've always enjoyed debuting someone new, be that some monster and immediately forcing him to the main event. Now in 16 I could pick his push and do that. Where as now you can't do that as much as the fan perception will always govern that. I personally think it would have been better to have both options there. As I think theres plenty of examples of wrestlers that the fans perceive to be better than their push is. Zack Ryder for example. So I think there should have been combination of the two to give a bit more depth. At the moment, taking a real world example, I can't have Kane make a debut as a new character and immediately at the top of the card as he'll have to work his way up. I think the game should have kept pushes and then the fan perception thing could have been a much more fluid. Lets say your guy is an unknown, but then has a corking match out of no where then in the eyes of the fan that perception jumps up quickly. Maybe they have a social media spat with a celeb and puts them in the spot light. They get booked badly for a couple of weeks then that perception starts to drop. It just feels a bit like I have to be driven by pushing people from what the fans want. I'm shamelessly Vince McMahon like and I'll feed you rubbish and you'll enjoy it because I tell you to! With 16 I could have Great Khali in the main event. Where as in 20 the fans will perceive him as trash so he'll always stay that way. I would have loved to have seen a more advanced combination of the two ratings. </p><p> </p><p> The reason I didn't make any suggestions and dont is because I really dont think I'm better than any of the developers or feel I have the right to tell them how to do their jobs. I am however a consumer whose bought the last three tew and on a public forum so feel as I should be able to voice my opinion.</p>
  8. Who ever is my top boy gets a hug. So think Hogan, Cena, Roman. If you get the Dave Mac hug then that means your top of my ladder. I’ll then check who genuinely performed well and not the highest performance but someone who went above and beyond their norm, they get praise. Then I’ll pick someone at random. Can be because their morale is low or annoyed they’ll get praise. I’m the same, cannot see any point in being negative. But then again in all my years playing tew for a ppv I’ve never had a reason to rip someone to pieces.

I feel like the reason why issues are a non factor backstage is because nowadays in the wrestling industry, people tend to not politic their way up the card, there ain't as many ego's in the business anymore and there's no drugs or steroids that might cause fights or issues and I think Adam has tried to simulate that as best he can (in CV).

     

    People in the business nowadays will do whatever the promoter tells them (at least in the bigger companies) and be angry and complain about it on twitter or put up a post about the direction the company is going or whatever, there's never any real issues backstage anymore, and if there are they're minimal.

     

    Most of the workers in the industry are completely professional and although they can be unhappy and feel under appreciated, they'll just ask for a release or wait out they're contract and go to AEW or work on the indy scene.

     

    Compare that to the 80's, 90's or even 2000's where there was constant politics, way more ego's (80's & 90's) and no other viable options other than WWE to work (2000's) for so you had to scratch and grab for everything you got. The industry has changed and so has TEW. I've seen mods with backstage ratings giving issues, as they should.

     

    Innit. Back in the day the likes of Flair were off womanising and getting drunk every night. Now a days they are all posting pics of themselves drinking their protein shakes on insta and streaming themselves playing video games on twitch. I miss the days of rock star wrestlers.

  10. Because you're playing a simulation game of the wrestling world. If you just want free form to do or exploit whatever you want, just write out your own stuff as a V-Fed. You'll get more creative expression doing that and you won't be hamstrung by "rules". I know because I did it and E-fedding for twenty years give or take.

     

    I want balance in the game because it's a game first and foremost.

     

    Ultimately I think one is issue is I was a day one buyer. I played the mess that was a beta but still sunk my cash into the game as I’ve enjoyed the games for the last two releases in 13 and 16. I know this isn’t some fifa franchise where they update the rosters and chucked out a new version every year and take you cash. Thought and care goes into each tew. It’s a game that seems to listen to it’s players and improve. So that sort of trust means I’ll pay my money for it. I will say I am trying to get into it but it’s the least fun tew I’ve personally played. Previous games hooked you and you found your groove how you wanted to enjoy it. 20 feels like an acquired taste. I’m trying to force myself to enjoy it and find my way to play that I like. Sadly I feel it’s become more of a game that has a set way to play it for it to work. Some of the new features just haven’t been implemented as I expected. In my mind there’s much bette ways to do so and I’m struggling to understand why my tiny mind has cooked up better ways for it to work than the actual game developer. But the bottom line is the game should be fun and finding that element of fun should be easy. I don’t personally have loads of time for video games and as such the idea of sitting down for half an hour with tew to try and find my love for it just isn’t appealing.

     

    I guess in some ways this maybe means the game isn’t for it. But I struggle to understand why that’s come about because I’ve been a loyal fan of the games for literally years. Hats off and good luck to those who are really enjoying it and honestly I just wish I could find that same sort of enjoyment from it.

  11. Exceptionalism.

     

     

    I look for workers who are good at something. Doesn't matter what, as long as they're good at it. I can work with anything and everything. I have a psychopath random gen that I signed specifically because she was good to great at hardcore and stamina. Her style doesn't match our product and her performance skills are subpar but she's young and time in the PC will help her come along quickly. The only thing that I see as a dealbreaker is personality. Can't have any sleazy, scumbag, or grifter types in my locker room.

     

    Same here. I think my guys and girls to have something about them. No one is perfect and if they excel at something I’ll work with it.

     

    I also tend to have my jobbers for hire. Guys I’ll sign on short 3 month deals who will make up my jobbers. They’ll eat all the pins and because I keep them for a short while they don’t get mad. These guys need to have good basics so they can essentially help build my stars by eating the loses and also building my other guys stats. Then if one of these jobbers catches my eye while with me then I sign them on longer deals and give them a proper push.

  12. To me strict heel/face divide is a throw back to classic "good guys vs. bad guys" golden age match ups (or modern kid friendly simpler storylines)

     

    To me the rise of the tweeners was really with anti-heroes during the Attitude era and to represent that you just set it to loose heel/face divide. That relaxes the restrictions a lot I think.

     

    I think heel and face is a fairly old fashioned idea now. For example someone like Kevin Owens debuted in wwe as a heel attacking John Cena who was a face. Yet the crowd boo Cena and cheer for Owens. So the traditional sense of face and heel has kind of changed. Is a modern day roman reigns a face or heel? He’s booked to wrestle and act like a face yet is booed. So I think unless it’s done in a really retro kind of way faces and heels are starting to disappear a bit.

  13. I’ve always loved a strict face/heel divide, but I enjoy that there’s now a preference to switch off the penalty for turning too early.

     

    This means if I ever need to turn someone and then swerve them back, I can just flick off this preference and do the turn, and then flick it on again.

     

    It’s also cool that you can go to your preferences during PM mode now as well.

     

    This will also be a cool feature to bring a guy into your company for a big pop as a face (someone like Kevin Nash for example), and then turn them heel the next week or two as they actually align with the heel (like Triple H).

     

    So many cool possibilities in 2020.

     

    I like this as well. As one of the issues I had was running a storyline that involved people joining a heel stable only to basically disrupt them from within so meant they wouldn’t be strictly a heel turn as turning back to face quickly.

     

    Also the ecw game I ran was kind of car crash booking and lots of ecw originals coming in whose loyalty to ecw was changing quite a lot. Fairly often these were old boys on short deals but storyline wise made sense for them to switch from face to heel quickly.

  14. TEW as such doesn’t really work well with tweeners. It keeps that strict face and heel divide. Back in 16 I booked an ECW game and turned off the face and heel divide, but still booked guys as such. Mainly because a lot of the characters would be quite tweener like. And also guys moved quite fluidly between face and heels. TEW would have just constantly penalised the switching too often. So in order to minimise that penalty I turned it off. I still had in my mind who was face and heel. But I was able to book how I wanted so could do as I pleased creatively without the game element holding me back.
  15. As far as I'm aware, and at least with how the handbook describes it, currently, menace doesn't matter unless it's in an angle specifically rated on menace.. An argument could be made that it should be something considered when booking workers to look dominant. Maybe not have an exclusive requirement for it but certainly give a bonus to menacing workers who are booked dominantly. .

     

    I agree with that. Could be offset by someone who is being dominated more likely to be annoyed being squashed by a dominating, menacing wrestler for example.

    But it works on anyone and everyone.

     

    So what is the benefit of being a monster?

     

    I don't know all the ins and outs. But it does work with everyone. Doesn't being a monster who has a high menace score give them that advantage over any average joe who comes in with equally terrible skills. So say you have a guys with 0 everything (i'm using that as an example, but know it wouldn't happen) but your monster has a menace of 80 then that is what is setting them apart.

     

    I think the system is slightly better as just being huge and scary could get people to the top in 16 quite easily. Least this new system there needs to be a bit more meat on their bones so to speak in order to become a true great.

  17. My season finale is the PPV where my biggest feuds will conclude. THe headline will be that big match everyone wants to see. That moment we have all been waiting for. I'll also save any big changes or new feuds for then as well. So if we've got a big face or heel turn planned, or something happening it happens then. I just see the season finale as the time for the big things to happen. Some feuds will carry on after it. But its kind of the big reset of the main event scene in my company.

Like many will complain that in a wwe immediately they call up the likes of michaels and Balor etc straight away. But the way NXT is run is so unique it’s extremely difficult for a game to really recreate that. So game just seems popular, skilled workers so obviously the parent company will call them up. Granted it’s an immersion killer, but it’s such a unique situation it’s so hard to try and keep it real. A while ago it would have been unbelievable that the likes of Charlotte and Finn would even be there.</p>
