Even as like a 7 year old kid he seemed to me like a bit of a crazy old man. I never got into him really. I guess if I was a bit older I might have appreciated him a bit more. However in a 1991 WWF he is a great hand to have on the roster. He's got good in ring skills and a whole lot popularity to put others over. So starting this diary I've had to put my own feelings of him aside and see his positives!</p>

  7. I've been following this one. Don't lose faith based on lack of comments, you're doing a great job. I'll be here.

Thanks for the support! I’m actually finding writing the results up on here is motivating me much more to play so enjoying this. Is started the rumble results now which is a bit of a daunting one compared to most sets of results. But I can’t wait to get it done as got some very exciting stuff coming up after it. One storyline in particular I cannot to get writing the debut promo for!

  8. So I was hoping to get a few people more involved with feedback and predictions. I've been rattling through the results but will have predictions for the Royal Rumble up soon. But the top three predictors up to wrestlemania will get the chance to pick who will be in the titles matches for the next big four ppv.

1 - Will get to choose the challenger for the world title

2 - Will get to choose the challenger for the international title

3 - Will get to choose the challenger for the tag titles

Hopefully a few people will get involved and get a chance to see someone they are keen on get a push for a big ppv.

  9. Just to be 100% sure: Negative chemistry between two individuals is completely negated in multi-man matches right? Such as triple threats, fatal four-ways and tag team matches?

I’ve always thought this is silly. If two guys don’t click I think you should be dinged as that doesn’t change. What I would say perhaps the severity of the penalty should lessen the kore men involved. If for example it’s a 30 man rumble the chances of these two awkward pair meeting is fairly slim.

    WWF Superstars

    Thursday Week 4 January 1991

    Reaves Arena (South East)

    Attendance - 6,821

    Broadcasting Rating - 4.43

The fans in attendance went wild as Real American played and out came Hulk Hogan, striding to the ring with real purpose. After ripping his shirt off he grabbed a microphone and looked all around the Reaves Arena as they chanted USA!

Hogan - Let me tell you something brother, there’s no better feeling than standing in front of all you Hulkamanics and hearing you chant the name of the greatest country on this planet!

The fans popped and Hulk acted as a conductor encouraging the chants.

Hogan - I spoke to Vince McMahon today and he told me this Sunday at the Royal Rumble I’ll finally get my hands on that traitor Sgt Slaughter. I can guarantee brother that the red, white and blue will run wild and it won’t just be me taking on Slaughter, but it’ll be me and every single one of you that salutes our beautiful flag!

The USA chants continued as Hogan walked around the ring.

Hogan - Now I might have to wait till Sunday to get hold of that snake, but tonight I’m calling out those two cronies of yours AWOL. I’m so fired up I’ll take both them on brother. So send those chumps out now Slaughter and I’ll give you a little preview of what will happen at the Rumble brother!

Hogan started waving a referee to the ring and waited for the arrival of Recruit J and Recruit B!

    [88]

    Hulk Hogan V AWOL (Recruit J & Recruit B)

    mnkHJfS.jpgVBAWIoJz.jpgBAWIoJz.jpg

Hogan paced in the ring as Recruit J and Recruit B circled around the outside. As soon as the bell rang AWOL slid under the bottom rope and WHAM, Hogan hit one after another with a big boot, then off the ropes, one by one, both men were hit with a leg drop and Hogan put a hand on the chest of each man so there referee could count the 1,2,3 for the victory in under a minute to the delight of the fans!

    [73]

With the microphone in hand like a brandy glass, as was now customary, Rick Martel came down the aisle with Owen Hart and Robert Von Dom. As their music played Martel addressed the fans in the crowd.

Martel - Owen, Robert I was walking around the streets here earlier, unfortunately, and you know this lady came up to me. Of course she knew exactly who I was and she said “Mr Martel am I pretty or am I ugly?” I replied “You are both”. She looked at me confused and said “What do you mean?”. I said “You’re pretty ugly!” just like all of you other idiots here tonight!

Alfred Hayes - Well goodness me I’m not sure that’s the best way to get people on your side, listen to these people here, they don’t seem best pleased with The Model do they?

The three men stepped into the ring as the fans booed.

Martel - Now, for the benefit of those with flash photography I present to you, THE HOUSE OF ARROGANCE! Pose boys!

With that both Hart and Von Dom struck a pose for the fans as they continued to show their displeasure.

    [56]

The Bushwhackers V The House of Arrogance w/Rick Martel

    BZEqJGw.jpgi0SsYF1.jpgV IgoPNXd.jpgZQMMF3U.jpg

In what proved to be a competitive, back and forth match, the House of Arrogance picked up the victory when Robert Von Dom hit an extremely impressive top rope Five Star Frog Splash on Luke.

    [51]

The British Bulldog V Kato w/Mr Fuji

    Q5lDEqJ.jpgV 2tdXuzd.jpg

In what was another back and forth match eventually ended when Ted DiBiase came out and distracted the referee while Kato had the Bulldog pinned for the 3 count. However this allowed Davey Boy Smith to regroup and hit his running powerslam for the victory

    [60]

After the match The Bulldog looked a little confused as DiBiase kept telling him he was just trying to help out his buddy and clapping him on the back in celebration.

    [87]

Monsoon - Wait a second, I’m just being told there's something happening back stage and our cameras are going there now!

The camera raced through the backstage area and a voice could be heard shouting.

Jannetty - MEDIC! MEDIC! WE NEED A MEDIC NOW!

Lying on the floor was his tag partner Shawn Michaels in a crumpled heap, he’d clearly been attacked. Medical staff rushed in to tend to him, while in the background stood a nervous looking Paul Bearer.

Bearer - I...I told him its not the right time, it’s too soon. He just won’t listen, I…. I thought I could stop him, but he does what he wants. Why couldn’t he be more like his Father? May the lord have mercy on our souls!

Marty looked hugely concerned for his fallen partner but at the same time yelled at the rambling Bearer to leave.

Monsoon - Well I’m not sure who done this to Michaels. With the Rumble only days away I know he was alot of peoples pick to win it, but I’m not sure he’ll even be able to compete the state he’s in! And what on earth, or who on earth was Paul Bearer talking about?

    [69]

Back in the ring Vince McMahon was stood with Jimmy Hart, Earthquake and an arm wrestling podium.

McMahon - It is at this time I would like to announce our first ever arm wrestling main event here in the WWF! Joining me now is number one contender for the World Wrestling Federation world title Earthquake and his manager Jimmy Hart.

Boos filled the arena at the mention of the pair.

Hart - Yeah that’s right baby we want to end all this talk right now about about who is the strongest. All I keep hearing is how the Warrior is tougher, the Warrior is stronger, the Warrior is going to body slam Quakey baby at the Royal Rumble. Well let me tell you something, stood here is the biggest, toughest wrestler in all of the WWF. When the Warrior steps in the ring and puts his title on the line on Sunday he doesn’t need to worry about being tougher, stronger or whether he can slam Quakey. He needs to just hope that he doesn’t get squashed like a bug under the brute force of Earthquake! Hahaha!

With that the Ultimate Warriors music hit and the atmosphere was electric. The fans went wild as the WWF Champion ran and slid into the ring and immediately started shaking the ropes to the delight of the fans! He stood nose to nose with Earthquake, with Jimmy Hart mouthing off Vince McMahon did his best to separate the pair somewhat.

McMahon - Easy guys, you need……

The Warrior snatched the microphone from Vince and a loud snarl came from his mouth.

Warrior - ARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHH! At the Royal Rumble Earthquake you step into my battle zone and will be at the mercy of the Ultimate Warrior. Many men before you have stepped foot in the ring with me, men much greater than you, and with the blood pumping through my veins I have beaten them! You will become just another chapter in the book of the Ultimate champions reign. On Sunday these hands will tremble in anticipation, waiting to slay you like the beast of the WWF that you are. The talk will be over and you will feel the wrath of the Ultimate Warrior!

The Warrior shook his head and lifted both arms in the sky, grabbing at the air. The fans exploded with excited as he turned to pose for them. But just as he did Earthquake attacked him from behind. A vicious double axe handle between the shoulder blades knocking the champion to the floor. Earthquake followed up with several big boots, before finally knocking the now redundant arm wrestling podium aside and crashing down on the Warrior with a big splash. The show ended with Jimmy Hart cackling, raising Earthquakes arm over the fallen Warrior while the number one contender held the Warrior’s title belt aloft in his other hand.

Rumours coming from WWF Towers are "Rowdy" Roddy Piper has indicated he will not be signing an extension and leaving when his contract expires in 6 weeks time. </p><p> </p><p>

He has been working exclusively as a colour commentator for WWF in recent times, leaving Vince McMahon a tough choice to make. That's my approach when it came to writing matches. Moves are the fluff. Nice for imagery. However if you focus on them too much the write-up gets longer and longer and longer and no one has time for that. So I like brevity. I'm trying to explain tactics and story and 'why' as opposed to 'what'.<p> </p><p> I also embrace the repetition. John Cena's comeback is the same every time, so why wouldn't Jack Decolt's. He goes berserk with right hands and shoulder tackles before mounting (insert villain's name) in the corner and Punching! Him! In! The! Face! It can gives thing a rhythm and allow readers to skim while getting the jist of what's happening. After a few episodes they don't have to parse out the moves, they just recognize it as "Jack's winning now, whatever he did to turn the tide was probably important".</p><p> </p><p> I also rigidly follow the typical match structure. I'm still getting the structure for match writing down. But my plan is TV tapings the match write ups are short and I'm trying to now focus more on the promos as thats building my stories. Then when it comes to PPV's I'm giving more detail to the matches as think thats like the blow off to what has built towards. Still I'm not planning on describing move by move as quite frankly that would take an age. And no one really wants a ten page essay on the Nasty Boys doing a Pit Stop to someone.</p>

“No no no, I’m not insulting you, I’m just describing all of you rather unfortunate looking people. You get the pleasure of being introduced to the first members of The House of Arrogance. The two most up and coming talents in the world today. Combining wrestling skills with the one thing you can't be taught, beauty. Ladies and gentlemen I present to you Owen Hart and Robert Von Dom!”</p><p> </p><p>

To a chorus of boos out stepped two young men, both wearing plain black singlets and a look of terror on their face. One was a dashing young man with a flash of blonde hair, and the other with long hair and a striking undercut, both tried to pose for the fans before making their way to the ring. <strong>[78]</strong></p><p> </p><p>

The House of Arrogance team seemed to look a little nervous in front of a crowd so anti them. However the unusual pairing of Volkoff and Douglas were clearly keen on keeping themselves in the minds of the fans with a great showing. Eventually the odd pairing picked up the win when Shane Douglas pinned Von Dom after hitting a powerbomb in 12 minutes.<strong>[53]</strong></p><p> </p><p>

The Model furiously waved Hart and Von Dom to the back and paced in the ring waiting for his opponent The British Bulldog to come out. Clearly annoyed The Model took this bad mood out on the Bulldog. Eventually picking the victory over Davey Boy after hitting a DDT with 15 minutes on the clock. Rick Martel posed in the ring after the match, spraying his arrogance perfume over his beaten opponent. <strong>[73]</strong></p><p> </p><p>

A backstage interview was shown with Bobby Heenan who was on his own talking about Mr Perfect,</p><p>

“The Royal Rumble is a short while away and the only name on everyone’s lips is Mr Perfect. All I hear from the fans is will Mr Perfect put Snuka in his place, will Perfect lose his title and will Jimmy take home that 50 grand from all the boys? Well all I can tell you he’s called Perfect for a reason, nothing he does……..wait a second whose this?!”</p><p> </p><p>

Heenan’s attention turned to someone walking into view, which was Mr Perfect, but he was dressed as Jimmy Snuka. Wearing a crazy curly haired wig and lots of ripped animal print clothing. He had a cup in his hand and saw Heenan and started speaking to him, imitating Snuka’s voice and mannerisms,</p><p> </p><p>

“Oh Mr Heenan sir have you seen that Mr Perfect? Just you know I’ve been looking out for him because at my age man I just need someone to make me famous you know? I’ve been rattling around here in the WWF for so many years and still people mistake me for the bus boy and ask me to carry their bags. Look at me for god’s sake I need this win man. I need that money, I can’t even afford shoes.”</p><p> </p><p>

Bobby Heenan awkwardly shuffled away as Perfect pretended to cry just saying “I can’t even afford shoes” over and over. <strong>[92]</strong></p><p> </p><p>

The team of Kato and Tanaka were looking to take advantage of their title shot with the Royal Rumble around the corner. Making their 32nd defence of the tag team titles Bret and Jim were in fine form. Getting prepared for their upcoming defence against Demolition at the Rumble they picked up the victory when Bret Hart pinned Kato after hitting the Hart Attack. <strong>[68]</strong></p><p> </p><p>
