Sanders, on the other hand, walks into a Ninja Strike after ten minutes and gets himself pinned. Fumihiro Ota defeated Rick Sanders Rating: D+ Chris Rockwell emerges, microphone in hand and a warm smile on his face. “Good to see you guys again,” he says warmly, still walking down the ramp – And then he drops, as Charlie Thatcher smashes into the back of his head with a running big boot before grabbing the microphone. “Couple of nights ago someone decided it'd be funny to interfere with our plans,” he begins. “They ain't here tonight. We'll get to them, but you know what? I figured I'd start with someone who's planning to be a complete ****hole. “You wanna break my man's arm, Rockwell? You sure about that?” He aims a savage kick into the downed Rockwell's gut. “Huh? Come on, man! Give me an answer!” Another kick, and another – and with the third, Rockwell shifts with it, grabbing the foot, twisting, and rolling through into an ankle lock on the big man – who drops the microphone. Rockwell grapevines the leg, reaches out, and snags the microphone as the crowd bellow approval. “Nice try, Thatcher,” he says. “But believe me – and Money, I hope to God you're listening – it's going to take more than this to stop me winning through in the end. I am going to beat you, Money, and I am going to make damn sure you know it.” w/ vs. w/ Eddie Chandler w/ Raven Roth vs. JD Morgan w/ Wanda Fish Morgan's work is, once again, starting to light the public up – not only that, but Eddie's recent run-ins with the Golden Age have clearly given him sufficient attention to get the fans behind him. For nine minutes this is a smooth, even match that could go either way, with both women neutralising the other's opposition, keeping the match calm and balanced throughout. Then Floyd Goldworthy appears, just as Eddie has Morgan on his shoulder for the running powerslam. Chandler falters on seeing him and the former DaVE champion capitalises, rolling through into the Cross Atlantic Stretch. Eddie fights it gallantly, but has no choice but to tap out. JD Morgan defeated Eddie Chandler Rating: C+ The camera cuts to the outside of the locker room as a stagehand raps on the door. “Arsenal? Your match is up next...” he calls, then walks away. A moment later, the door opens and the Human Arsenal emerges. Instants later, he's blindsided by Coleman, Holmes, and Ferdinand – and John McClean, who directs the assault, calling for move after move as they work the unbeaten grappler over. “That's it,” McClean says finally. “Get to the ring now and win it. That should buy us some goddamn attention...” vs. Chris Rockwell, Human Arsenal & The Natural vs. Coleman, Holmes & Ferdinand The preceding match just beats this one out, but it is, nonetheless, a very well-received and fast-paced contest. The three veterans of the Japanese scene unleash a torrent of vicious suplexes and double-teams that put their own bodies on the line to injure the others, and with the Arsenal clearly injured from the off they surprisingly hold their own. Rockwell, the Arsenal, and the Natural respond by each stepping up their individual game, but it doesn't keep pace with the slick teamwork the others are showing, or their new, much more violent edge. After quite some time, Rockwell in particular manages to even out the fight, but as it breaks down into a brawl the referee gets utterly lost - And Charlie Thatcher, as ever, is there to take advantage, levelling Rockwell with a huge kick that actually sends him out of the ring, where Thatcher continues the assault. The timekeeper sounds a time limit draw before Fair can see the disturbance. Chris Rockwell, Human Arsenal & the Natural drew with Coleman, Holmes & Ferdinand Rating: C Thatcher continues to batter Rockwell on the outside. Seeing this, Arsenal moves to the rescue – and then the video screen comes on. A distorted, electronic voice begins to speak. “The nuclear arsenal is a threat to all life on this planet,” it begins... A flash of lightning... a mushroom cloud... a child weeping, agonised, the tears tinted crimson with blood... Black and white footage of artillery, the crews scrambling for ammunition as it fires... Gulf War footage of laser-guided bombs... the mushroom cloud again... And then a black screen, with, slowly forming, a single caption. HUMAN ARMS MUST BE ERADICATED. “I stand for complete eradication of harmful munitions. There must be no arsenal.” That stops the Arsenal in his tracks, leaving Thatcher to continue the assault. It takes a sprint-on clothesline by Danny Patterson to finally cut him off as the show ends. -- A good solid show on a par in audience reception with the PPV before it; Philly Pro continues to develop its fanbase and does so on a show with a record rating. Next on SWF 24/7: Key losses for the Golden Age. Show Rating: C

Rich Money sighs, considering the question for a long moment. “The problem with any good stable,” he begins “is that they have to change or die. If you look at Christian Faith's career he's been able to hold to much the same character throughout his career. There's a shift in emphasis from time to time depending on who he's facing as much as anything else, maybe he drops a catchphrase when it goes out of style or coins a new one. Beyond that, he's Christian Faith and it doesn't change. “Think about, say, the Sneer Corporation, though, or the Disciples of Evil, or even Gold Guarantees... These were long-running stables. They lasted. And because they lasted, you can't really name a single line-up that was the big one. Sure, those all built themselves around one wrestler or another – but if you look at the Elite with George DeColt, the membership shifts every few years, just a little. People argue about their favourite lineup. “So I knew when I joined Gold Guarantees that that was just the first change, and that others had to be coming. The Golden Age wasn't a bad evolution of that, but we knew the hammer would be coming down sooner or later on the Hollyweird connection. “Still, it hurt to lose Charlie. He could absolutely make the fans hate him, he had a nasty kick and a good look, and ultimately I felt he was useful to have in the group. He provided a lot of the spice before someone like Mav, me, or Fumi delivered. “I'm not too clear on what happened – I gather he asked for way too much money. Just past Double Or Nothing, word came down that he'd be gone a little before the next PPV, so we had time to work something good for that. “The problem, the guy I felt was the real loss, though... Losing Charlie hurt. But we were going to have to diversify past being mostly Hollyweird guys, and we'd just lost Krusher to the new angle... “And then Mav got his new deal. Everyone forgets now that for a while his career looked like going to Japan. He was working GCG, and Pride Glory offered him a spot, too, and with George DeColt paying better money than we could offer what with Mav's fame in Canada...” He shrugs. “Things were not going the way we hoped they would, put it that way.” -- Dangerous smiles faintly. “It was... interesting,” he says. “It's easy to produce good work when you know what you've got to work with, when you can focus on it. You've got a group of high-flyers, OK, you concentrate on the things that appeal to that section of the audience. Your roster's best at hardcore? Not a problem – you build your shows around that kind of fighting. “What Philly Pro had in ninety-eight was the East Coast War. So much of what I did was about perceived invasion from outside the company... because what we had, Tom Gilmore excepted, was a group of faces who were much better at showing their stuff inside the ring than outside. I was working to change that, and certainly Chris began to really catch on once we had the TV deal in place – but it was much, much easier for us to use the heels we had to get the faces over. Our heels were scary, they were smart, they were wily, they had stronger characters, they could drive shows. “And when real-life issues outside the company hurt the biggest threat inside the company... it gets awkward. Booking after that was a real scramble, just when we needed the extra pressure least.”
How the hell do you always get this to work?
By the time I post that, the show's usually 90%-100% in its finished state. The deadline, though, gives me 24 hours to realise that I need to change phrasing somewhere, drop a sentence of setup for a storyline later into it, or come up with a new spot I want to work into a given match write-up. Basically, it gives me time to realise something needs that little bit of extra polish and work it in there. I do a first draft of the show as I first sim it, and that gets virtually everything that goes into the writeup. Then I sim til the next show and figure out what the 'Next on SWF 24/7:' tag will be, and a while after that I'll give a 24 hour warning.

Ranged against the back wall are Nathan Coleman, Stuart Ferdinand, and Bryan Holmes. In front of them proudly stands John McClean, holding a microphone, clearly working himself up into a fury. “Take a look,” he begins, “take a look at these three men. They are three of the finest competitors in this sport. They are accomplished wrestlers who have all been denied opportunities to take on their full glory. “And, like myself, they have reached a point where they can barely even find a chance to wrestle for this promotion, this growing company. We find ourselves in front of a promising new fanbase, and we are denied our chance to impress it. “Why? Because for all that the so-called Action Pack claim to be fighting for me, for these men, and for everyone else in the company, what they're actually doing is taking the time that should by rights be ours. “How do we get the title shots we deserve? Standing in front of you you see men whose skill almost demands we be challenging for the Tri-State Championship,” Holmes pounds fist into palm, “the Tag Team Championship,” and Coleman & Ferdinand smirk at each other, “and the Maximum Championship. But we have not been given the matches we need to prove that we deserve to compete. We're a sideshow; we're the purity of wrestling treated as a sideline to an ex-jarhead obsessed with a flag battling a religious nut, a sex-mad deviant, and all the rest. Even Steve Flash, a truly great pure wrestler, has had to paint himself a new life to get the respect he craves! “Well, this won't stand any longer. We deserve to hold those titles. We will hold those titles. And we will take the time we need to show everyone exactly what we mean – By Any Means Necessary.” vs. Holmes & Ferdinand vs. The Mean Machines The TV debut of the newest Philly Pro tag team also sees John McClean join the commentary team, showing a remarkable dynamic alongside Jason Azaria in the presence of which Andrew Barber can comfortably settle back. McClean pours his heart and soul into selling his new stable as Azaria draws on their success in other companies. Meanwhile, Ferdinand and Holmes school the Machines with a variety of devastating holds and slams. It's a solid display. It has problems getting the fans on its side – the Machines are no one's idea of a strong challenge, and both Holmes & Ferdinand have had trouble getting their feet under them for a concerted push of late. But it marks, really, the start of management's recognition of Coleman & Ferdinand's efforts to make themselves appear more credible. Holmes dumps Deano Machino on his head with a German suplex and hangs on for the pin. Maverick puts on a convincing display as a great wrestler forced to try unusual measures against the sheer size of Patterson, but it's never enough. Patterson's big enough that one fast-moving lariat actually catches Jay Fair as he tries to get clear, though Maverick manages to duck it. To any Philly Pro fan, what comes next is entirely expected... ...Charlie Thatcher hits the ring at speed, and the running big boot follows – but Patterson manages to get clear, and Maverick is turned inside out. Patterson promptly hurls Thatcher out of the ring, revives Fair, and tosses an unconscious Maverick the length of the ring with the Bomb from Bow Bells before collecting the pin. When Thatcher eats a Demon Slam the crowd go berserk, uncertain whether to cheer or boo. Some way to settle this is clearly needed, and it's provided swiftly as the fourth giant to enter the fray arrives. Egged on by Emma Chase, Man Mountain Cahill goes toe-to-toe with Danny Patterson as Anger and Thatcher continue to brawl. Johnson looks like gold throughout, and everyone's clearly giving of their best, but for whatever reason this contest just doesn't work. Demon Anger finishes with a vicious Demon Slam on Dangerous, but the crowd were just never into it. Sat behind a busy desk, Emma Chase leans into the camera, giving it an ample dose of cleavage as she beams. “Good evening, everyone,” she says. “I'm pleased to announce that I will, as of now, be taking on a second client. While he is loosely affiliated with the group known as the 'Action Pack', events last week and at the Pride of Philadelphia have persuaded him that he needs a professional to watch his back. “I am happy to tell you all that the Maximum Champion, the Human Arsenal, could not be in better hands – and that I intend to maintain his recent record and strategy. No need for any Stately-style cheating here...” -- An awkward show that likely set Philly Pro back in the estimation of many. Next on SWF 24/7: Blurring fantasy and reality. Show Rating: D
