BurningHamster
I sense Necro Butcher hate. I actually like him because he brings something different to the table... so there! I like Necro a lot. He's good at what he does and he's a hell of a lot more exciting to watch than most other wrestlers going today. Seeing him in a film will be pretty weird though, he's not exactly The Rock.

Chuck
What exactly does Necro bring "different" to the table? He works a very stiff realistic style and whenever he is not doing deathmatch stuf he is one of the best old school brawlish wrestlers in the world. Also is a guy that people believe in because he isn't a super-bodybuilder but rather more like the hobo down the street. Plus I know Mr. Necro in real life so I gotta put him over... super cool guy. BlueStar
Actually, the movie won a couple of prizes in Europe. It put Rourke back into the spotlight. Generally the movies gotten decent to good reviews. Keep in mind that wrestling is mostly unknown in most European countries, so "decent to good" for an unknown subject, is an achievement. Thomnipotent
I will see this. Soon. It'll be interesting to see what Clint Mansell and freakin' SLASH came up with for the score.
AfRoMaN36
If my girlfriend dragged me to see the day the earth stood still (I gag at the sight of Keanu), then I am dragging her to see the Wrestler. I hear it's destined to sweep the Oscars as well. I'm just glad wrestling is being portrayed by the mass media as something other than a complete joke. BTW for those of you wondering where Perry Saturn has been the last few years.... he actually resurfaces in this movie. Not to mention he was seen backstage at a TNA show a few weeks back. So he's not dead.
sprinklefurball
Ernest Miller caused the movie to be banned in Iran... Musta been those ruby slippers

dvdWarrior
I can't wait to see The Wrestler, but I didn't know it'd been getting good reviews until I came online. Hopefully, it'll be out on dvd before too much longer. Looks like 2009 might be a good year for me, movie-wise, with The Wrestler, (it's a 2008 movie I think, but it'll be 2009 before I get to see it), and the new Star Trek film. But then, I want to see The Day The Earth Stood Still too.
masterded
I know people have been talking about not being able to see it due to its limited release here is the schedule of when it opens in other cities. http://content.foxsearchlight.com/inside/node/3041 Looks like on the 9th I will have to go see this during a matinee then go to a F1rst Wrestling show that night (The Sandman is going to be there). Should be a good day.
GatorBait19
Of course Vince McMahon hated the movie as he doesn't believe it really shows a declining wrestler, or at least doesn't portray it correctly And Jerry Lynn and ROH are doing it as a storyline so that should be cool

Tyler Gadzinski
But with the reviews it's getting and all the hype around it saying how Rourke will probably by the Ugly Duckling of the Oscars if you will. No one expects him to win it but he's a definate contender with his performance.. The ESPN article that was posted earlier in this thread says that "We get amazing acting all the time.. but hardly do you come across a role where you don't know who could've played it any better." Rourke did such a good job because most of it deals with his personal/acting career as well. This movie doesn't come to Wisconsin til Jan. 16th... that's so horrible! C'mon Hulu upload it to your site already!

Apart from that though she seemed pretty freaked out by the film, which I take as a good sign. <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>
