GDE71
Who is watching or DVRing it. I have it set to DVR because I'm watching the NCAA tourney. I can't wait to get my first look at ROH. I've heard all the hype, and now I get to decide for myself if I like it.
mad5226
I had no idea, but I may flip back and forth. I've heard great things about RoH and never actually seen a show.
FINisher
I'm not sure if the tv-show represents the best about ROH. I mean to me (having watched just few events) it's all about long, competitive pure matches. Or atleast the old ROH, don't know about the new one. Altough I really hope that they do well and someday be a serious threat to TNA.
GDE71
Supposed to be 4 matches in the one hour show. So if there is really 45 minutes of show, that would be about 11 minutes per match depending on angles and such.
G-Prime
I totally forgot about this. Will have to find it on the net, seeing as this is Australia, and we don't get anything on time.
Self
I was only dimly aware of the show until this morning, but you know what, I'm excited. While I'm not a huge supporter of the ROH product, I love the idea of this fresh new promotion to learn about. It reminds me of when I was first told about TNA a couple of years back, or when I discovered ECW Hardcore TV one night. I want to discover new characters, new personalities, new ideas... I want to be able to watch a match and have very little idea whose going to win. WWE & TNA bore me now, because it's the same guys over and over again. A new TV show, a whole new wrestling world to discover... So yeah. Excited.
Johnny Fenoli
Anyone know where we could watch it, if we dont have HDnet?
alden
It is just on hdnet. The owner of the station is a HUGE mma/wrestling fan and that is why he is putting it on the station. It might be on the web site but i really don't think it is going to be.
The Final Countdown
Just got done watching a replay of the first show. I agree with the guy who said that the one hour show format doesn't really represent ROH at its best, but it was good enough. Not sure about that new announcer, though. alden
what were the matches? I am assuming no "main eventers" as they usally go a long time.
GDE71
The "Main Event" was Tyler Black vs Jimmy Jacobs. It lasted at least 15 minutes. It's weird watching a show with the real crowd noises instead of the piped in constant cheering. I will watch more as it's wrestling instead of a bunch of acting. 3 other matches Jerry Lynn vs Delirious to open the show Sami Callihan vs Kenny King Brent Allbright vs Rhett Titus
Bigpapa42
The presentation quality was strong, I thought. The wrestling didn't really seem like proper ROH though, because of the shorter TV format.

A new TV show, a whole new wrestling world to discover... So yeah. Excited. Well said, Self. What you're describing is exactly why I miss the syndicated wrestling days and that little low-power indy station we had here in VA Beach when I got here in the mid 90's. With so much product in rotation there were always other wrestling worlds and landscapes to discover. It wasn't Orton vs Triple H 975 or Sting vs Angle 378 all the time. And even when you did have those situations, you find refuge in stuff like the Exotic Adrian Street mocking Wildcat Wendell Cooley's manhood by referring to him as Gwendolyn. Or Joshua Ben-Gurion fighting Colonel DeBeers because Ben-Gurion represented the Israeli military with honor while DeBeers stood for a repressive state in South Africa. So by the time it was time for Vinnie Mac to take Stunner 691 you'd be refreshed by the newness of the indy stuff and could feel less annoyed by the repetition because you'd had a break from it. Self
I just watched the show and I liked it for exactly the same reasons I thought I would. I only knew a few of the guys (I'd been told to look up Jacobs & Black a few months ago, and Jerry Lynn is Jerry f'n Lynn) I had no idea about people's position on the card beyond what the announcers told me, and therefore I had no idea who was going to win each match. I was legit cheering on Kenny King, and I don't do that with WWE & TNA guys any more.... except for John Morrison. The show needs to find its feet. The announcers need to get used to their roles. I expect after the first 6 episodes it'll go more smoothly. Sure, I would have done things differently. I'd have put a tag match on there. I'd have had the ROH champion, the top guy, headlining or at least heavily featured, but overall I liked it. Can't wait for next week.

alden
Just watched the show and while it was not a great show it was decent for a first time show. I expected ALOT more from the lynn delerious match. There were to many blown spots for a jerry lynn match. I hate to say it but jerry might be getting near the end. the king match was intresting. I did not expect much from the match as i have not seen either man alot. King was very impressive but was made to look very good. I don't like the one sided matches so much in roh but it was not a full on squah. albright's match was ok. I am not a huge albright fan and titus *i think that is how you spell it* was a little to gimmiky for me but so was king so i don't know. the jacobs black match was good. THe emo thing is getting a little over done with jacobs now but atleast it is better then huss man The only downside of the show was the announcer. He reminded me alot of the jr parady oklahoma in wcw. He was screaming this is it and was way to hyper for an roh show. O and i noticed on the "history of roh" they showed a ton of stars from other companys. ALot of joe and punk. I think that is a little below them. Why not focus on guys like nigel or danialson? dvdWarrior
Apprently this is available to watch on YouTube now: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=18CA51C3D0AC4419 if you don't mind watching a part at a time that is.
G-Prime
They did those history of ROH videos on the PPV. It's not cheap. People have no idea who they are. They do, however, know Punk and Joe and Foley. ROH made two of those guys, so it's perfectly ok for them to advertise the fact they used to work there. dvdWarrior
I thought it was a great show myself, a great way to introduce the product to a new audience. It's pretty much what I've been wanting out of a wrestling tv show - I even liked the new announcer, he didn't seem too hyper to me. Jimmy Jacobs though - seems he looks a little bit different every time I see him. I was expecting his match with Tyler Black to be a tad more violent, considering everything that had been leading up to it, but it was still a very good showing, I liked it a lot. ROH gets yet another 'A' from me.
Comradebot
Not a bad show... Did worry me that after the Lynn/Delirious match that EVERY worker was going to come out to god awful sounding death metal.
Comradebot
I'll be honest, I haven't watched THAT much ROH in the past. Some matches here and there, mind you, but not loads of it. With that in mind, here's my thoughts on watching the ROH show: 1. There's far too much pointless flipping and flopping all over the ring. I get it, these guys are amazing athletes. But it loses its impact when nearly every guy is doing all kinds of crazy flips every thirty seconds. 2. I liked Brent Albright. Maybe its because he was the only guy brawling around the ring instead of doing somersaults? 3. The show had a real old school feel to it with the shorter interviews and focus on the matches themselves. Indeed, it was the anti-TNA Impact. Personally I hope one day a company can find a good middle ground between the two. I love storylines and angles, but hate the TNA approach of "you watch for two hours and get three matches." 4. Jimmy Jacobs looks like an emo skunk. He did a great job playing the heel in the ROH setting, I'll give him that. But I have a tendency to go for the bad guys, and suddenly I found myself wanting to see him lose because of the aforementioned emo skunkness. Not sure if this means I consider his image poor or if its an ingenius plot to get me to cheer for the faces again. 5. I actually listened to the announcers, like I do when I watch WWE. TNA's guys typically get tuned out or literally muted. So props to ROH on having a solid announcing team. 6. Overall it was a good show and I think I'll try to keep up with it a bit. If nothing else it can join WWP as a show I can watch on the internet at any hour when I need my wrestling fix.
alden
Roh has always had alot of "flyers" in the show. I don't think they were the focus as much in early roh as they were much more of a technical company i think. The more "flashiness" goes to how alot of younger workers are training today. There are not alot of super solid technical young wrestlers. There are more jack evans then bryan danialsons out there.
Self
I've now watched 4 episodes of this show and I'm pretty much bored of it. There tends to be a good match every week, but I'm struggling to find a reason to care. I'm told that guys are "feuding" with other guys, but seeing as they barely interact on this show I feel like I'm watching scrambled porn, unable to watch the worthwhile stuff. Which angers me. I miss Kenny King. Until I re-read this thread I'd completely forgotten he existed. Seeing as I was marking hard for him when he fought, that's not good. Putting on Womens match & tags is a good way to break up the monotony of 60-40 "squashes", the older announcer's definitely growing on me, and Austin Aries has had good exposure over the last 2 weeks (I could probably pick him out of a lineup now) but other than that... ho hum. Anyone else still watching?
dvdWarrior
I'm still watching, but I have to admit there's omething missing there. It's good enough I guess, but it just doesn't seem to have the energy of the ROH shows I have on dvd.... Final Battle 2008 for example. One thing I think I'd do different: think I'd hold off on putting top level match-ups on the show, (Bryan Danielson vs. Austion Aries for example). I'd save those matches for the bigger events, and bring in 'the cream of the independant crop', (the ones that aren't already in ROH that is), and have them compete with various ROH regulars to try and earn a spot on the active roster. I'd also devote a healthy portion of time focusing on the 'legendary' matches of the promotion's past, as well the company's current storylines and whatnot. I think doing it this way would make the company seem almost mythic in the eyes of casual fans, and, with the notion that wrestlers are literally 'giving everything they've got' just for the chance to join the roster, I think it could be a very powerful thing. That's what I think I'd do anyway, (it's the MO of my promotion in my own personal wrestling universe anyway).
