WWF 1998: What if Bret had Stayed?

Recommended Posts

Bret slams the door behind him nearly detaching it from its hinges. He turns around to see Vince sat in his chair looking scared. He had fled the arena very quickly. Bret picks up the closest object and hurls it towards his boss yelling profanities across the room. The object narrowly misses Vince as he jumps behind his desk.

"We had a deal you no good son of a bitch and I expected you to honour that."

"Please, Bret. I can explain. Just give me a few minutes."

The events of around an hour ago were shocking to everyone who watched. Vince McMahon calling for the bell when Bret Hart clearly hadn’t tapped and Bret had no clue he was going to do this. He flipped out at ringside before entering showdown talks with his boss.

"Just calm down. There’s no need for this."

"No need for this!" he shouts while throwing another chair across the room at his boss. "We had a deal. I was going to give up the belt on Raw. I never had any intention of taking it to WCW."

"I couldn’t take that chance, but if you’d just hear me out you’ll understand."

"I don’t want to hear anything you have to say. I wanted to leave here happy. I’ve been loyal and hardworking to this promotion for years and this is how I’m repaid. I’ve had enough you their antics backstage and you deceiving me."

"Bret, please. I know you’ll understand if you just listen."

Bret looks at him in a way that suggests he’s ready to listen.

"I did it to help the company, Bret. WCW are winning the ratings war and we need act to overtake them. I couldn’t let you in on it so the heat looked real. I mean you were out there. Every fan in the arena looked shocked at what happened. The whole thing went perfectly especially your reaction. We had to make this look real. If you decide to stay with us you could be part of the biggest storyline this industry has ever seen."

Bret ponders McMahon’s proposition for a while clearly interested with what he has in mind. He begins to walk slowly over to a chair before sitting down. He then calls out to Vince the word "talk". Vince can’t hide his joy and begins to smile before sitting down himself opposite The Hitman.

"You won’t regret this, Bret."

Bookers Notes

I had my first ‘real’ meeting with Vince today. It went well, but he gave me some guidelines to follow to, some more important than others. I had two years to help our balance match or surpass five million dollars. He also wanted us to maintain our international status and continue to be a worthy opponent to WCW. He expected these goals to be met and regarded them of high importance if the company was to progress. He then set me a few goals which weren’t of too high importance, but he did say to try and avoid them. He wanted to try and focus on more athletic matches so I’m not allowed to sign or renew anybodies current deal that doesn’t fit his description. Focusing on in ring ability again, he wanted people who could show basic psychology and just like before I can’t renew anybodies contract that can’t do that. I can't see these issues causing any problems at the moment as everybody i'm attempting to bring into development meet the standard that Vince is expecting.

We’ve agreed quite a few contract terminations for the coming weeks with some younger guys going into our new development territory. Nobody high profile is set to leave, but with only two hours of TV time a week we needed to terminate some contracts to help the money flow. There’s no need in having dead wood on the roster.

I came to Vince with an idea to bring somebody back to the WWF, but he was sceptical about the idea. I’m still not sure if it’s going to happen, but it would certainly come as a shock if he’d allow it. I suppose only time will tell.

I think I need to gain a bit more control backstage. So far Shawn, Hunter and Chyna have been causing problems which aren’t going down to well with the other main event wrestlers who like a quiet atmosphere backstage. Bret, in particular, has expressed his dislike and we will have to change a few things or two to cater to his needs. We are of course very lucky to still have him as part of the WWF. He’s been brilliant so far about the whole thing and has agreed with everything storyline wise. Ahmed Johnson and Hawk have been getting in on the fun recently aswell. Hopefully it’s just a bit of harmless banter, but I don’t really want any fallings out in the locker room.

I was surprised when I pitched the idea of Light Heavyweight division to Vince that he agreed. I was expecting him to put more emphasis on the bigger guys in the company, but he likes the plan. I’ve negotiated a few deals with some smaller guys to come in so I’m expecting that in a few months we’ll have lots of different wrestling styles for our fans to enjoy. It seems Vince is ready to try anything to get ahead of WCW which could spell some exciting times in the WWF.

WWF Raw is War

http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/6358/rawiswarlogobq0.jpg

The show opens with a video highlighting what happened in the main event between Michaels and Hart. It shows the finish, Bret spitting in McMahon’s face and then Bret destroying the ringside equipment.

http://img261.imageshack.us/img261/8448/jimrossdm5.jpghttp://img174.imageshack.us/img174/6050/jerrylawlerfd0.jpg

Ross: Hello and Welcome to Raw is War. I’m Jim Ross and joining me is Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler. I think we have to start with the controversy of last night at Survivor Series. We witnessed disgusting actions from both McMahon and DX. Bret Hart did not deserve that in what was supposed to be his final night with the company.

Lawler: I’m a huge Michaels fan, but that was pretty shocking stuff last night. It’s certainly not what Bret would want to be remembered for.

Ross: Rumours have been flying around that he’s at Raw tonight; I don’t know what to believe.

http://i29.tinypic.com/vfk2gp.jpg

Bret Hart’s music hits and the arena explodes. He walks down to the ring looking very serious wearing jeans and t shirt. He grabs a mic from ringside and climbs through the ropes taking his time before beginning to speak to the fans.

Lawler: Well there’s your answer JR. Wonder what he has to say.

Hart: As I’m sure a lot of you know last night was supposed to be my final night with the company.

He pauses for a moment, the emotion clearly getting to him.

Hart: I’ve given 13 years of my life to this company and never once complained and this is how I’m repaid, being completely screwed out of the WWF Title by Vince McMahon.

Hart pauses again as the crowd break into a chorus of booing.

Hart: I know last night was shocking for everyone in the arena, but it was particularly shocking for me. I was happy to be having my final match, to be able to move my wrestling career on with Vince’s blessing. Then this happens and I’m left with a very difficult decision. I do not want to be remembered as the wrestler who was screwed by Vince McMahon. I’m the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be god dammit and that’s what I want each of you in the audience to remember me for. Nobody comes close to me on pure wrestling ability.

The fans clap in approval clearing thinking the same way as Bret.

Hart: So, the decision. Vince and DX, you better be ready for the Hitman. There is nothing I won’t do to get revenge for Survivor Series.

http://img521.imageshack.us/img521/7299/shawnmichaelsuh8.jpghttp://img204.imageshack.us/img204/7406/tripleh1998mt7.jpg

DX’s music hits the arena and the boos become deafening. Michaels is ready to speak, but the crowd just won’t let him continuing to boo. Finally the crowd dies down and Michaels begins.

Michaels: Nice little speech there Bret. You should be nominated for an Oscar.

Triple H: Straight from the heart Shawn. Made me cry a little if i'm honest.

Hart: Shut the f**k up you two. You get your ass to this ring and i'll beat both of you down.

Michaels: Whoa, whoa, whoa there Bret. Me and Hunter don’t want to have to beat your ass in front of these fans tonight. This is supposed to be your big farewell from the WWF. You’ve had too much embarrassment for one week.

Hart: I told you I ain’t going anywhere. You’re going to pay for what happened Michaels. I don’t care what I do aslong as you suffer.

Michaels: Right, let’s just get one thing straight, Hitman. I’m the WWF Champion and you haven’t done anything to deserve a shot at the title so I’m not going to fight you.

Hart: I don’t give a crap about that Championship. The only thing I want is a match with you so I can beat the hell out of you.

http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/5897/sgtslaughteryf3.jpg

Sgt. Slaughter the WWF Commissioner’s music hits

Slaughter: You guys can’t be out taking up our TV time. We have other things going on tonight besides this little exchange. Bret, I’m sorry, but there was no rematch clause in the contract as you supposed to be leaving the company. My hands are tied I’m afraid, but what I will do may satisfy you Bret. Tonight’s main event will see Michaels take on Bulldog.

The fans don’t know whether to cheer or jeer as DX and Bret make their way to the make. They’ve heard the main event, but they obviously wanted to see Bret and Michaels get it on tonight.

Lawler: I’m eager to find out what Bret’s next move will be. It looks like he’ll struggle to get his hands on Michaels.

Ross: We'll have to wait and see there King, but now we have our first action of the night.

Legion of Doon vs. The Nation

http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/4220/roadwarrioranimalws2.jpghttp://img440.imageshack.us/img440/8702/roadwarriorhawkls1.jpgvs. http://img507.imageshack.us/img507/7555/kamazy1.jpghttp://img503.imageshack.us/img503/2893/dlobrownoe0.jpg

Both teams look strong, but LOD seem to be getting past it now as they were clearly tiring by the end. The Nation won after D’lo pinned Hawk.

Winner: The Nation

Rating: D

Ross: Good win there for the Nation. That’s gotta give them some momentum. A win against former tag team champions and legends like Legion of Doom.

Marc Mero w. Sable vs. Jim Niedhart

http://i25.tinypic.com/1zpmalw.jpgvs.http://i31.tinypic.com/125pbox.jpg

Lawler: Just look at Sable JR. I think I’m in love. That must have been what God had in mind when he created women.

Mero looks impressive tonight, but Sable gets involved now and again distracting Niedhart with her good looks. Mero rolls Niedhart up for the win.

Winner: Marc Mero

Rating: D

http://i31.tinypic.com/34e6g0k.jpg

Jeff Jarrett makes his way to ring clearly in love with himself. He takes his time posing for the fans that seem to be booing louder then when he first entered.

Jarrett: Come on now guys we can’t all be brilliant. There’s no need to be jealous. The reason I stand before you today is actually very important. We’re nearly in 1998 and I have been held back for far too long in this company. I should be up there main eventing pay per views not washed up has beens like Bret Hart and The Undertaker. I am here to send these guys off to the old folk’s home starting with somebody very close to us.

He steps out of the ring and begins to assault Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler at ringside. He drags him in the ring along with a chair and smashes it over the legends head as he stands. The crowd make their feelings known booing Jarrett, but he doesn’t care and shows a sick smile as he watches over a lifeless Lawler.

Ross: We need a medic out here. Somebody get some help in the ring.

Paramedics rush from the back to help out Lawler and once he’s taken to hospital JR makes an announcement.

Ross: We need to move on from the disgusting actions of Jarrett moments earlier. I’m joined by Jim Cornette who’s out here to replace Lawler for the night.

http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/5528/jimcornetteaf0.jpg

Cornette: It’s good to be here JR. I’m looking forward to helping you call the show.

Kane w. Paul Bearer vs. Vader

http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/189/kanemask1998vn6.jpgvs. http://img521.imageshack.us/img521/7609/vaderhf5.jpg

Kane dominates the big man here showing what a force he is in the company. He choke slams Vader for the win.

Winner: Kane

Rating: C+

Cornette: How impressive was Kane tonight?!!

Ross: We see the same every week. I wouldn’t want to come face to face with Kane and I’m sure a lot of people in that locker room feel the same way.

Cornette: I have to agree with you there JR. He’s a freak of nature. Oh, looks like we’re being joined by the boss.

http://img175.imageshack.us/img175/9440/vincemcmahonea6.jpg

Vince McMahon comes to the ring and it’s clear that the events at Survivor Series have done wonders for him as he’s booed the whole way there. He looks to be enjoying every minute of this new reaction which is almost certainly going to be followed from arena to arena.

Vince: You all witnessed the power I possess in this company last night when I basically made Shawn the Champion without the match even finishing. It wasn’t my idea though. Shawn came to me looking at an easy way of capturing the Championship and I gave it to him. The man makes a lot better champion than Bret ever did.

The crowd begin to boo again.

Vince: That’s not actually the reason I’m out here. I want to discuss another man who won a Championship at Survivor Series. ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin.

The crowd pop at the mention of his name.

Vince: This man can’t be holding a title in my company. I hear he has ambitions of being the WWF World Champion. It’s not going to happen unless he changes his ways. Cuts out the drinking, the swearing and the ‘I don’t give a crap’ attitude. We’re getting sick and tired of this every single week. Same old Austin. We need a Champion who can represent the company and who is looked up to be everybody.

Ross: What a load of crap. Austin is probably the biggest star in the company at the moment.

http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/634/steveaustingh1.jpg

Breaking Glass. Austin storms out from the back looking serious. He ascends each turnbuckle receiving a big pop from each section of the audience before taking up a microphone and facing Vince.

Ross: Thank good hes come out to stop this.

Cornette: To be honest JR, Vince is right. The Company needs somebody everyone can relate to and I don’t think Steve Austin at the minute is that person.

Austin: Shut your trap Vince or I’ll shut it for you. You want Stone Cold to not be Stone Cold right?

Vince nods frantically.

Austin: You do know that Stone Colds the reason your arena is full tonight?

The crowd pop confirming that they came to see him.

Austin: But, you’re the boss. I suppose I gotta do what Mr. McMahon tells me. No more Stone Cold.

Ross: What?! Please tell me he’s not serious.

Cornette: Good decision from Austin. He obviously wants to do what’s best for the company. You have to admire Vince's stern rule aswell. If he doesn't like a wrestler, he tells them and the fact their willing to change just shows you how much repect hes employees have for him

The crowd boo as a big smile begins to grow on Vince’s face.

Vince: I’m so glad you co-operated so quickly Austin. I knew you’d see it my way in the end, but to be honest I expected a bit more of a fight from you. I’m not complaining obviously. Anyway come on Austin lets go into my office and we can discuss making you our new champion.

Austin raises his hand up as an indication that he wants to say a few words.

Austin: Just hold on a minute Vince. I just have one more thing to say to these fans if that’s ok with you.

Vince: Go right ahead Austin. We’ve got plenty of time.

Austin: I won’t be long. Basically, I just want to say this.

He pauses for a moment.

Austin: If you think Vince is crazy for believing that he can change ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin gimme a hell yeah.

‘Hell yeah!’

Austin: And if you want to see Vince’s ass kicked tonight in this very ring gimme a hell yeah.

‘Hell yeah!’

Ross: Go get him Austin. Stomp that mudhole!

Vince’s smile soon fades and he begins to look worried. Austin charges at him taking him down before unloading with rights and lefts. He then stands and begins to stomp a mud in Vince’s stomach as the crowd go crazy. Austin then runs up to the turnbuckle requesting some beer. Cans are thrown in from ringside and he begins to drink them. He then steps back in the ring by which time a Vince has risen to his feet. He shakes from left to right before receiving a boot to the stomach from Austin. Stunner!

Austin: And thats the bottom line cos Stone Cold said so.

Austin celebrates with the crowd some more before heading into the back leaving Vince looking very angry in the ring.

Cornette: You can't do that to your boss!

Ross: He had it coming, Austin fooled him Brilliantly. It just goes to show you can't change a rattlesnake.

Cornette: (Still in shock) But, but he just stunned the owner of the company. There's going to be some serious repercussionsfrom this.

Shamrock looks very impressive making Vega tap to the ankle lock.

Winner: Ken Shamrock

Rocky Maivia makes his way to the ring ready for his up-and-coming match with Steve Blackman. He picks up a microphone and head into the ring.

Rocky: Your in for a treat tonight. You get to observe Rocky Maivia tear apart this nobody. That’s the hottest thing in wrestling right now, Rocky Maivia. I’m sure you’ve all heard of him. He needs no introductions really. As for my opponent.

Rocky looks on puzzled.

Rocky: He calls himself ‘The Lethal Weapon’. The only lethal weapon in this building is Rocky’s

Blackman’s music hits before he could finish his sentence.

Ross: I don’t even want to know what Rocky was thinking there.

http://img522.imageshack.us/img522/8774/therockzc7.jpgvs. http://i30.tinypic.com/2m601dw.jpg

Blackman starts well against Rocky taking him by surprise, but Rocky is soon on top and wins in with a Rock Bottom.

Winner: Rocky Maivia

Rating: C+

Ross: Rocky is one ****y individual, but I can't argue with the kids talent.

Cornette: I love him, he has everything. I'm calling it first. Future WWF Champions right there.

Bulldog is shown preparing for his match with Michaels tonight. He does a few press-ups to get the blood pumping before the door opens and Bret Hart walks in. The crowd cheer as Bret comes into the picture.

Bret: Good luck tonight man. I know you’re just as mad as me with what happened, but you don’t want your emotions getting the better of you.

Bulldog: Don’t worry Bret. I won’t let you down.

Bret: You’d never let me down Dave.

The two men hug.

Bret: Just be careful. You know Triple H and Chyna will be at ringside. We’ll be doing our best to watch your back.

Bulldog nods before going out of the door and down to the ring.

Ross: Bret's right there, the interference of Triple H and Chyna will be a factor in this match.

Cornette: Smart from Michaels. As champion he can't risk an injury so he has his pals at ringside with him.

Non Title Match

WWF Champions ‘Heartbreak Kid’ Shawn Michaels w. Triple H and Chyna vs. The British Bulldog

http://img521.imageshack.us/img521/7299/shawnmichaelsuh8.jpgvs. http://i27.tinypic.com/1zmkuhl.jpg

Bulldog starts well, but ringside interference soon begins as Triple H continually talks trash to Bulldog distracting him from his opponent. The referee get knocks out around the 12 minute mark and Triple H pedigrees Bulldog in the ring. Owen and Jim Niedhart have had enough backstage and run down to ringside and start beating down Triple H and Chyna. Michaels crawls back into the ring and covers Bulldog just as the ref is coming too and he gets the win.

Winner: Shawn Michaels

Rating: B

After the match the brawl continues on the outside as Michaels collapses onto the floor with his title. Bulldog gave him everything and Michaels definitely had a hard night.

http://i29.tinypic.com/vfk2gp.jpg

Bret runs down to the ring, but Michaels rolls out before he gets there. Instead of following him he decided to stay in the ring staring at Michaels as he heads to the back.

After Jeff Jarrett’s vicious attack on Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler last week he won’t be able to join Jim Ross at the announce table. Jim Cornette who replaced him last week will join Ross until Lawler is able to return. Will Lawler have anything to say this week to Jarrett?

Thanks for the comments so far guys. I will do my best to exceed your expectations with this. I have everything up until Wrestlemania mapped out already and then bits here and there after that, some stuff stretching up to Mania 15.

Its an interesting stand point you're going with, mate. Purely hypothetical but I wonder whether the WWF goes more Attitude to the point of Mike Tyson, if Vince McMahon gets as much heat as he did to the point where he becomes Champion, etc etc. Either or, what you've got is a situation with some of the hottest characters in a tempestuous society and that to me creates conflict and conflict creates fun and games, so I'm all aboard for this one.

WWF Raw is War Preview

Winners face New Age Outlaws at In Your House

The New Hart Foundation (Jim Niedhart and British Bulldog) vs. The Nation (Kama Mustafa and D’lo Brown) - I suppose its relevant for Neidhart and Smith to get the rub off the back of Hart

Kane vs. Ahmed Johnson

No.1 Contender to the Intercontinental Title Tournament Quarter Final

Bradshaw vs. Farooq - Probably the one I'm most concerned with, but Farooq is probably the more dominant man at this point. They're really at polar opposites in reality in many ways, Farooq 5 years ago was a World Champion and Bradshaw 7 odd years later would be.

Steve Austin vs. Mabel

No.1 Contender to the Intercontinental Title Tournament Quarter Final

Goldust vs. Vader - I think Goldust is a character you can have so much fun with, but Vader... I mean God damn son, you have a bloke over 400 pounds doing moonsaults and shizzle. How do you beat that?

Main Event for a title shot at In Your House

Mankind vs. Jeff Jarrett - I kinda feel that Jarrett has to be the 'nearly' man, the frustrated man, and that brings out his comic heat.

I'll be reading. this is getting good

I like it so far, it could go places...

Thanks guys, good to have you onboard. I'm expecting another show up sometime today, but that type of speed won't last long. I'm aiming to get the first ppv up quickly to try and get the storylines developed. I have the time to do so at the minute so i might aswell take advantage of it.

I absolutely adore this era, Tristam, and while I wasn't around to watch it i've researched like crazy. It's just a fascinating time for proffessional wrestling. I remember enjoying you diary probably around a year a go, but I haven't visited here for a long time so I've lost track of it. I promise to do my best to catch up though because it was a sensational piece of writing and I also don't have much insight into WCW.

http://img261.imageshack.us/img261/8448/jimrossdm5.jpghttp://img529.imageshack.us/img529/5528/jimcornetteaf0.jpg

Ross: Hello folks and Welcome to Raw is War. I’m Jim Ross and joining me in place of Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler is Jim Cornette. Jim, good to have you with us tonight.

Cornette: And it’s good to be here, JR.

Ross: Tonight we have a huge main event involving Mankind and Jarrett for the chance to face the Champion Shawn Michaels at In Your House.

Cornette: I’m particularly looking forward to that one. It’s good to see such a talented wrestler like Jarrett finally getting noticed.

Ross: I hope Mankind pounds his ass into the mat tonight. He’s a disgusting human being, attacking Lawler with no reason last week.

Cornette: Sometimes you have to do things to get noticed.

JR ignores him and carries on with the rest of the show.

Ross: Looks like we’re being joined by DX.

http://img521.imageshack.us/img521/7299/shawnmichaelsuh8.jpghttp://img204.imageshack.us/img204/7406/tripleh1998mt7.jpghttp://i29.tinypic.com/wbq592.jpg

DX enter the ring, posing, which is met by boos from the fans. They have been drawing serious heat since the Survivor Series incident. It seems to have done wonders for them. Shawn picks up a microphone and begins.

Michaels: Thank you for that lovely reception. Means a lot. Seriously you don’t have a clue about talent. What a s**t audience we have tonight Hunter.

Crowd’s booing begins to grow and Triple H nods in approval.

Michaels: Anyway straight to the point tonight. I’m out here to announce two new members to Degeneration X.

Cornette: Two new members! Wonder who they could be.

Ross: I don’t know why anyone would want to be associated with DX.

Michaels: We needed to even the odds with Bret going out and getting his little crew. We only recruit the very best so here are the WWF Tag team Champions, New Age Outlaws!

http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/570/jessejames1998dc9.jpghttp://img175.imageshack.us/img175/8372/billygunn19982gk3.jpg

They hug their new stable mates upon entering the ring and Michaels passes his microphone to Roaddog.

Roaddog: What an honour to be invited to join this prestigious group. I think we should give this man, Shawn Michaels, a standing ovation for being such a great Champion.

The four members of DX bow before their leader Shawn Michaels. The fans don’t agree with Roaddog and boo the whole act.

Roaddog: Oops, I should have known. We’re in Detroit. You guys aren’t ready to worship true greats.

The fans jeers just keep getting louder and louder.

Roaddog: Anyway, I have a message for Niedhart and Bulldog. Whoever wins that match tonight will just be lying on the mat at In Your House, but we will reserve a special ass kicking if you two if you somehow manage to win.

He passes the microphone to Triple H.

Triple H: Owen Hart. What a joke of a wrestler he is, wouldn't you say?

The rest of DX agree with Triple H, but the fans clearly don't.

Triple H: I actually feel sorry for Bret having that for a brother; I bet he wonders what he ever did wrong.

Triple H try’s to impersonate Owen which has DX in stitches.

Triple H: Honestly, how does Bret think he’s going to be able to get the better of DX when he has Owen in his group?

http://img162.imageshack.us/img162/2623/owenhartwa7.jpg

Owen has heard enough and storms out getting in the ring. The New Age Outlaws and Chyna step in front of Michaels and Triple H shielding them.

Owen: What the f**k is wrong with you? I won’t let you talk about me like that. You and Me at In Your House. What do you say?

Triple H: Nah. That doesn’t appeal to me. I don’t think my wrestling abilities should be wasted on you.

Owen: You must be having a laugh. I can outwrestle all of you in this ring. You’re just scared to step in the ring with me.

Triple H: Scared? No way. I just have other plans for In Your House and you don’t feature in them. Now, escort this piece of s**t out to the back.

Chyna and the New Age Outlaws grab Owen and bundle him off to the back. He tries to fight, but can’t break free. Michaels and Triple H follow them out.

Cornette: Finally someone tells Owen the truth.

Ross: You have to be kidding?

Cornette: Sometimes the truth hurts JR. He has to deal with it.

Ross has his head in his hands probably wishing Lawler was here.

Cornette: What’s up? Didn’t get much sleep last night?

Ross ignores him again and announces the first match of the night.

Ross: Tag action next with the winners receiving a shot at the New Age Outlaws at In Your House. The Nation scored a big victory last week against LOD, but this is one hell of a challenge as Bulldog and Niedhart will want to face the New Age Outlaws especially now their a part of DX.

No.1 Contender Match for the Tag Team Titles

The Nation vs. The New Hart Foundation

http://img507.imageshack.us/img507/7555/kamazy1.jpghttp://img503.imageshack.us/img503/2893/dlobrownoe0.jpgvs. http://i31.tinypic.com/125pbox.jpghttp://i27.tinypic.com/1zmkuhl.jpg

The New Hart Foundation look very strong completely stopping the momentum of the Nation with an impressive win. They looked fantastic as a team and won the match when Bulldog pinned Kama.

Winners: The New Hart Foundation

Match Rating: E+

http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/570/jessejames1998dc9.jpghttp://img175.imageshack.us/img175/8372/billygunn19982gk3.jpg

The Outlaws run in attacking both Bulldog and Niedhart.

Cornette: Message sent. That’s why their champions. Their very smart. Bulldog and Niedhart have just had a hard match and are obviously tired so the Outlaws take advantage of this.

Ross: I’d call it cowardly myself. Can’t they just have a fair match at In Your House and let their wrestling do the talking.

McMahon is shown coming out of somebodies locker room looking very happy.

Ross: I wonder whose locker room that was and what McMahon wanted with them.

Cornette: I’m sure it will be something great with Mr McMahon involved.

Ross: Can you please step out of his ass?

Kane vs. Ahmed Johnson

http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/189/kanemask1998vn6.jpgvs. http://img398.imageshack.us/img398/6875/ahmedjohnsonmk6.jpg

Kane dominates another opponent winning very easily with a chokeslam.

Winner: Kane

Match Rating: C

We head backstage where Gorilla Monsoon is interviewing Jeff Jarrett.

Monsoon: Joining me here backstage is Jeff Jarrett.

The fans boo as Jarrett comes into the picture.

Monsoon: So Jeff, your in the main event tonight with the chance to face Michaels at In Your House. You must be excited.

Jarrett: You say I have a chance of being in the title match?

Monsoon: Well yeah. You and Mankind have equal chance.

Jarrett: I will be in the main event of In Your House. It’s practically a certainly.

Monsoon: Ok then. What about last week? What was the reasoning in attacking Jerry Lawler so brutally?

Jarrett: I said everything I need to say last week. People like Lawler have to go. I got rid of him very easily and I plan on doing the same to many more people. In fact, you can be next.

Jarrett smashes the legend over the head with the microphone and then gives him a few closed fists to the face. He heads to his locker room to prepare for his match and we see blood trickling down Monsoon’s face.

Ross: That man has no respect for anyone. He needs to be taught a lesson.

Cornette: He’s on a roll JR and if he says it’s a certainly he’ll win tonight then I agree.

No.1 Contender to the Intercontinental Title Tournament Quarter Final

Bradshaw vs. Farooq

http://i32.tinypic.com/28rje6p.jpgvs.http://img530.imageshack.us/img530/2077/ronsimmonsas9.jpg

These two have a very even match, but The Nation at ringside prove the deciding factor. Farooq pins Bradshaw for the win.

Winner: Farooq

Match Rating: D+

We head to the DX locker room where all five of them are discussing matters.

Michaels: Just face Owen at In Your House, Hunter. You know it’s a win in the bag.

Triple H: I just love seeing him get angry. That’s not the point anyway. I want to move onto better things. Maybe get that Intercontinental strap around my waist. We should be holding all the gold. I would like to say a big well done to you guys though. Attacking those pieces of trash from the Hart Foundation after their match is the DX way.

Roaddog: Just thought we’d give them a taste of what their in for at the pay per view.

Billy Gunn: Anyway Michaels what are you planning to do with Bret? He could begin to ruin our plans if he doesn’t get what he wants.

Michaels: Don’t worry we have plans for Bret.

He smiles at Triple H and the cameras fade away.

‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin vs. Mabel

http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/634/steveaustingh1.jpgvs. http://i26.tinypic.com/14w4lkl.jpg

Mabel gives Austin a hard time with his power, but in the end it isn’t too much of a problem for Stone Cold. He pins Mabel after a stunner.

Winner: Steve Austin

Match Rating: C+

We head into the Hart Foundation locker room. Bret is trying to calm Owen down.

Bret: Don’t let him get to you Owen. That’s exactly what he wants. We have to stay strong and not show signs of weakness. Give it time and we’ll get our hands on the ba****ds.

Owen: He just makes me so mad talking about me like that. I know I can out wrestle him and just want to prove it.

Bret: Like I said, you will in time. Anyway let’s have a celebration.

He opens a bottle of champagne and pours four glasses. They all take one and he raises a toast to Bulldog and Niedhart becoming the new champions at In Your House.

Bret: The Hart Foundation is officially back in business.

No.1 Contender to the Intercontinental Title Tournament Quarter Final

Goldust vs. Vader

http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/7189/goldustud3.jpgvs. http://img521.imageshack.us/img521/7609/vaderhf5.jpg

These two have a very even match trading offence. Vader’s power shines through in the end though and he has too much for Goldust.

Winner: Vader

Match Rating: B-

http://img175.imageshack.us/img175/9440/vincemcmahonea6.jpg

Mr. McMahon comes down to the ring looking very serious. He draws some brilliant heat all the way.

Vince: You all saw what happened last week, we won’t go into details. I’m going to give Austin a chance to apologize and reconsider my offer.

Ross: What? After he was humiliated he’s giving Austin a second chance.

Vince: Why don’t you come down here and we can discuss it.

http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/634/steveaustingh1.jpg

Austin entrance music hits and the crowd go wild.

As Austin walks down the ramp he is ambushed by the whole Nation. The subdue him and take him to Vince in the ring.

Ross: All a plan by Vince then.

Cornette: Yes and a very clever one at that. That must have been who he was talking to earlier.

They hold Austin in front of Vince who tries’s to fight his way out of it, but has no chance against the four men.

Vince: You fell for it Austin and now I’m going to get my revenge. This is for last week.

He slaps Austin in the face a few times before booting him in the groin. He then gets a steel chair from ringside and wraps it around Austin’s head about half a dozen times putting Austin out cold. Farooq then holds up Austin and Vince gives him the stunner adding insult to injury. Vince accompanied The Nation to the back looking satisfied with his revenge.

Cornette: Austin had it coming to him after his actions last week. Brilliant plan from Vince.

Ross: No way did he deserve a beating like that. Vince hasn’t heard the end from Austin.

Main Event for a title shot at In Your House

Mankind vs. Jeff Jarrett

http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/2192/mankind1998rs8.jpgvs. http://i31.tinypic.com/34e6g0k.jpg

Jarrett gets the early advantage cheating whenever he gets a chance. At one point he looks to have the match won, but…

http://img174.imageshack.us/img174/6050/jerrylawlerfd0.jpg

Ross: He’s here. Jarrett better get running now.

The arrival of Lawler is a big distraction for Jarrett who is rolled up by Mankind and the ref counts 1.2.3.

Winner: Mankind

Match Rating: B+

After the match Lawler wastes no time in entering the ring and beating the hell out of Jarrett. He only stops when security pull him away.

Ross: Kick his ass, King. Kick his ass.

Cornette: What a cheap shot. Jarrett was about to go to the main event of In Your House.

Ross: He got what he deserved. You can’t just go about attacking people and expect it to not have consequences. Good for Mankind aswell. He deserves a chance at the title.

Cornette: That fat sack of crap? No, this should have been Jarrett’s moment.

The show ends with Mankind celebrating with the fans in the ring.

WWF Raw is War Preview

Debut match for the Light Heavyweight Title

Jerry Lynn vs. Heavy Metal vs. Great Sasuke

The Nation vs. The Headbangers

Kane w. Paul Bearer vs. Bradshaw

Jim Niedhart vs. Triple H

British Bulldog vs. Billy Gunn

No.1 Contender to the Intercontinental Title Tournament Semi Final

Marc Mero w. Sable vs. ‘The Worlds Most Dangerous Man’ Ken Shamrock

Main Event

Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart vs. Jeff Jarrett

Plus,

Triple H began winding up Owen last week and really got to him. Bret had to calm his younger brother down telling him they'd get their revenge at some stage in the future. Owen clearly can't wait that long and wants a match with Triple H at In Your House to prove his wrestling ability. Will he be able to get his match this week or will Triple H continue to frustrate him?

We now have a no.1 contender to the title after Mankind beat Jarrett in the main event last week. What will happen when Mankind speaks to the fans this week? Will Michaels make an appearence? Or will he be too busy watching his back for the Hart Foundation?

Vince McMahon extracted his revenge on Austin last week tricking him and he was therefore ambushed by The Nation of Domination. Knowing Austin he'll be up to something this week, but he now has another four men to contend with.

Jeff Jarrett complained about being underused two weeks ago and was granted a main event match on Raw. He gets another chance to prove himself in the main event this week against Bret Hart. We'll also get to hear what he thinks about Lawler costing him the match last week.

We also get to see three new faces in the WWF as they battle it our for the Light Heavyweight Title. With these three being given the dream debut who will emerge as the Champion?

really into what i've read so far, I hope you keep up the good work, great story telling.

hope to see thing diverge from reality more and more, as you get farther from that pivotal moment in history.

I appreciate that mate, i'm glad your enjoying it so far. I'm just trying to build the storylines at the moment. I expect things to pick up more as we approach Wrestlemania. I have some things I hope people will enjoy planned.

Oh and thanks for the diary nomination. That really surprised me and i'm just happy to get a mention in there.

Nice card.

Debut match for the Light Heavyweight Title

Jerry Lynn vs. Heavy Metal vs. Great Sasuke - Top match, mate, I kinda prefer Great Sasuke, I'm a big, big, big fan. He gave everything in every match for his fans. Mad. But Jerry Lynn I assume goes over due to being more over in the US. Plus, he's a hell of a good wrestler anyway.

The Nation vs. The Headbangers - I'm assuming they're needing to get revenge and the Headbangers haven't really got anything going for them at the moment just yet.

Kane w. Paul Bearer vs. Bradshaw - The strong push of Kane continues.

Jim Niedhart vs. Triple H - Triple H gets a cheap win, definitely though an involvement for Bret and Owen.

British Bulldog vs. Billy Gunn - makes The NHF credible before the title match.

No.1 Contender to the Intercontinental Title Tournament Semi Final

Marc Mero w. Sable vs. ‘The Worlds Most Dangerous Man’ Ken Shamrock - self confessed Shamrock fan...

Main Event

Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart vs. Jeff Jarrett - again, I see Double J as the nearly man.

Debut match for the Light Heavyweight Title

Jerry Lynn vs. Heavy Metal vs. Great Sasuke

This man is a god. Give him the belt, and watch the division take off.

The Nation vs. The Headbangers

They got a win over the Legion of Doom. That's as big a push as you can get.

Kane w. Paul Bearer vs. Bradshaw

Hopefully, Kane can pick up a few more skills, on his way to the inevitable match with the Undertaker.

Jim Niedhart vs. Triple H

Niedhart is the natural fall-guy for the Foundation. Especially in singles matches, as he's a tag team specialist.

British Bulldog vs. Billy Gunn

Bulldog's a former Intercontinental and European Champion. He deserves this win. Road Dogg can beat Neidhart, next week.

No.1 Contender to the Intercontinental Title Tournament Semi Final

Marc Mero w. Sable vs. ‘The Worlds Most Dangerous Man’ Ken Shamrock

Mero is garbage. Plain and simple.

Main Event

Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart vs. Jeff Jarrett

Bret's my hero. He only loses in screwjobs, and this ain't one of them.

http://img261.imageshack.us/img261/8448/jimrossdm5.jpghttp://img529.imageshack.us/img529/5528/jimcornetteaf0.jpg

Ross: Hello folks and Welcome to Raw is War. I’m Jim Ross and joining me is Jim Cornette.

Cornette: Thanks for the introduction JR. I’m excited for the main event. More of Jarrett is great by me.

Ross: But do you really think he has a chance against The Hitman?

Cornette: Jarrett could beat anyone anytime; he’d even beat Tyson in a boxing match. Let’s just hope that toe rag Lawler doesn’t show up this week and spoil his big moment.

Ross: Lawler is a great man. I hope he does show up and give Jarrett another ass kicking. He deserved everything he gets.

We cut backstage where Owen Hart is walking. He finally stops outside Sgt. Slaughter’s office.

Slaughter: Owen, I think I know what this is about.

Owen: Go on.

Slaughter: You want a match against Triple H, yeah?

Owen: At In Your House.

Slaughter: I didn’t really think Triple H’s actions were acceptable last week so you get your match. He doesn’t get to make the choices around here.

Owen: Thanks. Didn’t expect it to be this easy.

Slaughter: I don’t like anything DX have done recently so no way am I letting them have their way around here. You need anything else, Owen, just call.

Owen nods at Slaughter before walking out.

Cornette: Who does Slaughter think he is? He can’t just give Owen his match like that. Did he not hear Triple H last week?

Ross: He can when he's the commissioner. He doesn’t have to listen to Triple H.

Cornette: But Triple H is the future of this company and should be treated with the upmost respect.

Ross: When he earns it I’ll show him respect.

Vince McMahon is shown arriving in his limo. As he steps out the whole Nation of Domination are there to meet him. They escort him to his office being careful to make sure Austin isn’t about.

Ross: Vince knows Austin will strike back this week.

Cornette: He’ll to strike back, but he won’t succeed. McMahon very smartly has recruited a brilliant stable to make sure he doesn’t.

Ross: You don’t know Austin. He could surprise us. Anyway folks now we have three new workers all vying for the Light Heavyweight Title. This one should be good.

Triple Threat Match for the WWF Light Heavyweight Title

Jerry Lynn vs. Great Sasuke vs. Heavy Metal

http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/276/jerrylynnkd2.jpgvs. http://img398.imageshack.us/img398/8465/greatsasukeqs4.jpgvs. http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/6286/heavymetalfg7.jpg

This one begins at very fast pace and shows no signs of stopping. All three begin trading blows and Lynn clotheslines Heavy Metal onto the outside. Sasuke then takes advantage when Lynn’s back is turned hitting him with a nasty Enzuigiri. Heavy Metal doesn’t stay on the outside for long and ascends the top rope looking to hit a cross body on Sasuke. Sasuke turns at the right moment and catches the Mexican star slamming him onto the mat. Sasuke starts to taunt his opponents trying to get the crowd on his side. He goes to work on both men hitting a number of moves, but while attempting a Moonsault, to finish off Heavy Metal, he gets to his feet and meets Sasuke on the turnbuckle. The two trade blows before Jerry Lynn stands up and joins them up there, showing a great display of strength pushes Sasuke to the outside and hits a Cradle Piledriver on Heavy Metal from the top rope. He then makes the cover, but Sasuke can’t make it in time to break up the count. Jerry Lynn wins the Light Heavyweight Title.

Winner and new Light Heavyweight Champion, Jerry Lynn

Match Rating: D+

Cornette: Whoa! Great match there, I wasn’t expecting anything that good being they were so small.

Ross: I told you we were in for a treat and just because their smaller than a lot of the guys here doesn’t mean their not as tough.

Cornette: Ok, JR. Anyone one of those three would probably get killed if they stepped in the ring with somebody like Kane.

Ross: There here to make the WWF more exciting and add variety. I don’t expect them to have to step in the ring with somebody like Kane.

http://i31.tinypic.com/34e6g0k.jpg

Jeff Jarrett music hits and he comes down to ring being booed the whole way. There’s no posing from Jarrett as he is clearly angry about last week.

Ross: What does he want? I don’t want to hear what he has to say.

Cornette: I can always make time for brilliance and Jarrett is simply brilliant.

Ross: I’m not saying hes not a talented wrestler, but his actions recently have been appalling. Attacking two legends in the world of wrestling is just wrong.

Jarrett: That title shot should be mine! It’s not fair! I give everything to the company and finally get my reward only for some has been to take it from me.

Ross: You started it Jarrett. It was your attack on Lawler that prompted him to do the same.

Jarrett: Lawler, you get your ass to this ring now! I want a match at In Your House!

http://img174.imageshack.us/img174/6050/jerrylawlerfd0.jpg

Lawler comes down to ring with a bandage around his head from Jarrett’s attack two weeks ago. He enters and the two start to circle the ring.

Lawler: You get your match, Jeff, but I want to make it a hardcore match!

Jarrett: That’s fine by me, you sure your withered old body can take it?

With that Lawler charges at Jarrett taking him down. He unloads with lefts and rights as Jarrett tries to cover up. Everybody at ringside run into the ring trying to defuse the situation. They eventually restrain Lawler while Jarrett heads to the back nursing a cut lip.

Ross: If he thinks Lawler is past it, he better think again.

Cornette: He should have kept it normal rules. This is just playing straight into strengths of the younger man.

Ross: And you don’t think Jarrett would have just cheated anyway?

Cornette: He’d have done everything in his power to get the win and if that means bending the rules the odd time then so be it.

The Nation vs. The Headbangers

http://img507.imageshack.us/img507/7555/kamazy1.jpghttp://img503.imageshack.us/img503/2893/dlobrownoe0.jpgvs. http://img503.imageshack.us/img503/3010/glenruth1998bk0.jpghttp://img143.imageshack.us/img143/5509/mosh1998rm7.jpg

These two teams have an ok match with the Headbangers using teamwork a lot early on to gain an advantage. The strength of The Nation shows through in the end though and they get the victory.

Winners: The Nation

Match Rating: E+

Triple H comes down to the ring accompanied by his manager Chyna and new recruits the New Age Outlaws. Triple H takes a microphone from ringside.

Triple H: So when Owen doesn’t get what he wants he goes crying to mummy. You don’t know what you’ve just done Owen. You’ll be lucky to be walking out of the arena at In Your House after I’ve finished with you. You claim to be this pure wrestling machine, I don’t agree. If you were so good how come you’ve never been the Champion? I claim to be the future of this company and unlike you I will become the Champion. So you better watch your back Owen because with Degeneration X on your tail you’ll be having nightmares right up until our match.

He passes the microphone over to Billy Gunn.

Billy Gunn: You better bring your A game tonight Bulldog because this outlaw is ready to kick your ass. This will just be the start of what we’ll do to you and your pal Jim Niedhart at In Your House.

DX get ready to leave, but are interrupted.

http://img162.imageshack.us/img162/2623/owenhartwa7.jpghttp://i27.tinypic.com/1zmkuhl.jpghttp://i31.tinypic.com/125pbox.jpg

The Hart Foundation come down which takes the smiles away from DX’s faces.

Triple H: What the f**k do you want now Owen. You’ve got your match.

Owen: You think your so great Hunter just because you’ve had everything given to you your whole life. I’ve had to fight for it and at In Your House I’ll prove who the better wrestler is.

Triple H: Yeah, yeah whatever. I’m done with talking.

With that Triple H and his buddies exit the ring and it looks like their going for the Hart Foundation. Instead they just walk straight past Owen and his mates. Owen manages to keep his cool, but watches Triple H all the way to the back.

Ross: I think Bret has talked sense into Owen. A few weeks ago he’d have attacked Triple H right there, but now he looks like he's ready to let his actions in the ring do the talking.

Cornette: That, or he knew Triple H will embarrass him at In Your House and decided against further embarrassment here tonight.

Ross: Let’s just see what happens at the pay per view shall we?

Cornette: I already know what’s going to happen.

Ross: Psychic are ya?

Cornette: No, just smart.

Kane w. Paul Bearer vs. Bradshaw

http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/189/kanemask1998vn6.jpgvs. http://img413.imageshack.us/img413/7812/bradshawut5.jpg

Kane dominates yet another opponent and seems to be enjoying every minute of it.

Ross: I don’t think anybody can stop Kane at the minute.

Cornette: Haven’t you noticed JR that since Kane’s been this dominant we haven’t seen any sign of The Undertaker.

Ross: I hope your not suggesting that The Undertaker is scared Kane. I’m sure there’s a perfectly plausible explanation for the recent disappearance of The Undertaker.

Cornette: Hey, I’m just going by the evidence that we have.

Billy Gunn vs. British Bulldog

http://img175.imageshack.us/img175/8372/billygunn19982gk3.jpgvs. http://i27.tinypic.com/1zmkuhl.jpg

The two men have some good chemistry in the ring which definitely improves the match. Towards the end Roaddog runs in looking to help his tag partner, but Niedhart was ready, anticipating that an interference was imminent at some stage and runs from the back chasing down Roaddog. Roaddog stops on the ramp to confront Niedhart and the two men begin to brawl. Meanwhile in the ring Bulldog begins to get the better of Gunn and manages to put him away with a Running Powerslam.

Winner: British Bulldog

Match Rating: C

After the match Bulldog runs out to the ramp to repay the favour to his partner. The no.1 contenders beat Roaddog and are back in their locker rooms before Gunn recovers to help out his tag partner.

Ross: Clear message that the Hart Foundation are ready for anything DX have to throw at them.

Cornette: Cheap shot is what it was. No need for the attack on Roaddog. Bulldog had already won the match.

Ross: Oh yeah i'm sorry. Roaddog would have never done the same. Anway looks like we're being joined by the no.1 contender.

http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/2192/mankind1998rs8.jpg

Indeed Mankind’s music hits and he makes his way down to the ring to a good pop from this sell out crowd.

Mankind: Thanks for the reception. I only hope I can repay you by becoming the new champion at In Your House. This is the moment I’ve been waiting for my whole wrestling career and I won’t let this opportunity slip away.

http://img521.imageshack.us/img521/7299/shawnmichaelsuh8.jpg

Shawn Michaels music hits and he comes out with a microphone in hand.

Michaels: Sorry to disappoint you, but your going to have to settle for being second best here. This title belongs to Degeneration X and at Survivor Series I showed I’d do anything to get hold of it and at In Your House I’ll show I’ll do anything to keep it.

Mankind: I believe I can win the title and I’m sure everybody here believes I can win it.

The crowd pop

Mankind: So I’m sorry to disappoint you, but that title will be coming home with me.

Michaels: You believe what you what you want, Mankind, but at In Your House we’ll see what happens.

Cornette: (laughing) I can’t believe he thinks he can beat Michaels.

Ross: Mankind is one tough son of the b***h. I'm not ruling him out. Next up we have the first semi final of the tournament to find a challenger to Austin’s Intercontinental title.

No.1 Contender to the Intercontinental Title Tournament Semi Final

Marco Mero w. Sable vs. ‘the World’s Most Dangerous Man’ Ken Shamrock

http://i25.tinypic.com/1zpmalw.jpgvs. http://img55.imageshack.us/img55/8081/kenshamrockxt7.jpg

Mero struggles and even the beauty of Sable at ringside can’t distract Shamrock from his task as he looks as focused as ever to get this title shot. He makes Mero tap to the ankle lock.

Winner: Ken Shamrock

Match Rating: C

Ross: Shamrock just impresses more and more every week. He really could be the world’s most dangerous man.

Cornette: No arguements from me.

Ross: So your actually agreeing with me?

Cornette: I guess I am.

The sound of breaking glass can only mean one thing.

Ross: Austin’s here!

http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/634/steveaustingh1.jpg

Stone Cold comes down to the ring meaning business receiving a huge pop from the crowd.

Austin: You all saw what happened last week. Now McMahon you son b***h get your scrawny little ass out to this ring and come and fight.

The fans cheer the prospect of Vince and Austin going at it.

http://img175.imageshack.us/img175/9440/vincemcmahonea6.jpg

Vince appears on the ramp microphone in hand.

Vince: Why would I want to come down their and fight you Austin when I can get people to do it for me.

The Nation come running out from the back and surround the ring one on each side. Austin gets ready, but the chances don’t look good. They all enter the ring simultaneously and Austin wastes little time.

Ross: Austin’s beating the hell out of the Nation!

Cornette: Not for long, JR.

Cornette was right, the numbers game started to take its toll as Austin couldn’t keep the four men down long enough. They subdue Austin just like last week which prompts McMahon to walk down to the ring ready to unload more punishment on Austin.

Vince: You shouldn’t have come out here Austin.

As Vince continues to walk down Austin starts to break free throwing body parts at each Nation member. Vince looks on in horror willing the Nation to gain control. They don’t. Austin then turns his attention towards McMahon who now remembers he has no backup and begins to run to the back. Austin gives chase sliding out of the ring and McMahon cowers on the ramp.

Vince: You dare lay a finger on me and they’ll be consequ.

Austin throws fists straight into the face of his boss. He then stalks Vince waiting for him to rise to his feet. As he does Austin gives him the finger followed by a boot to the gut. Stunner! Austin raises his hands in the air, but doesn’t stick around too long to celebrate with the fans as the Nation are stirring at ringside.

Ross: Take that McMahon. Austin kicked some ass tonight.

Cornette: McMahon said they’d be consequences though so Austin must be worried.

Jim Niedhart vs. Triple H

http://i31.tinypic.com/125pbox.jpgvs. http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/7406/tripleh1998mt7.jpg

Owen Hart accompanies his friend to the ring and takes a seat near the announce table perhaps trying to scout his opponent for In Your House. Triple H tries not to let Owen being at ringside distract him too much as he puts on a wrestling clinic against Niedhart sending a clear message to the man who claims to be a better wrestler. He also shows great psychology constantly going after the legs of the big man taking away his power game. With Niedhart down Triple H starts to taunt Owen who doesn’t react. He puts the head of Niedhart between his legs and turns to face Owen signalling for the pedigree, but still Owen doesn’t flinch as his friend is about to be hurt. Triple H pedigrees Niedhart down to the mat and makes the cover looking at Owen all the time expecting an assault. 1.2.3. Still nothing from Hart as he lets Triple H head to the back before getting into the ring to help his fallen friend.

Winner: Triple H

Match Rating: B-

Ross: Triple H expects Owens anger to get the better of him, but Owen is wise to wait until In Your House.

Cornette: Wise or just scared?

Ross: He’s showing that Triple H can’t get to him. Bret has clearly influenced Owen here. It’s now time for the main event as Jarrett is given another chance to prove himself, this time against Bret Hart in his first match since Survivor Series.

Cornette: Oh yes. I’ve been looking forward to seeing a Jarrett win all night and now the moment has finally arrived.

Main Event

Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart vs. Jeff Jarrett

http://i29.tinypic.com/vfk2gp.jpgvs. http://i31.tinypic.com/34e6g0k.jpg

Bret is given a huge ovation as his music hits. Jarrett receives a very different reception as his actions of the past two weeks have helped propel his heel status. Towards the end of the match Jarrett begins to get the upper hand on the legend. Jarrett hit Hart with a dropkick before knocking him down with a few clotheslines and looked to be scouting Bret ready for a stroke when...

http://img174.imageshack.us/img174/6050/jerrylawlerfd0.jpg

Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler comes out onto the ramp just like last week.

Jarrett immediately stops what he was doing and slid out of the ring to meet Lawler. Bret followed running after Jarrett and clotheslined him down on the outside. He managed to pull Jarrett into the ring before the referee finished the count out. Once in the ring Bret locked in the sharpshooter to which Jarrett tried to fight, but in the end the hold was too painful and like many others have in the past, he tapped.

Winner: Bret Hart

Match Rating: B+

After the match Jarrett beats his hands on the mat clearly furious with Lawler costing him an important match for a second week in a row. He slides out of the ring and runs towards Lawler on the ramp. The two exchange punches with Lawler gaining the upper hand. Piledriver on the outside by Lawler!

Cornette: Oh my god! What did he do that for? And to the future of this company aswell.

Ross: It’s called payback Cornette and if Jarrett doesn’t like it he shouldn’t go about attacking people for petty reasons.

The show ends with Lawler standing over his fallen prey.

Debut match for the Light Heavyweight Title

Jerry Lynn vs. Heavy Metal vs. Great Sasuke

This man is a god. Give him the belt, and watch the division take off.

I'm a fan of Sasuke aswell and would have loved to give him the belt, but I have plans for Lynn at the moment and decided he could use the belt to help out his momentum and popularity. Sasuke will get his time to shine at some stage.

Main Event

Owen Hart and Mankind vs. Triple H and ‘Heartbreak Kid’ Shawn Michaels

Plus,

Two feuds collide this week in the main event which is sure to explode. Owen Hart has a chance to get his hands on Triple H before the pay per view and the same for Mankind on Shawn Michaels. Both teams will want momentum going into In You House. Will we see an appearance from Bret who says hes waiting for the right time to extract his revenge on Michaels? Maybe that time is tonight?

Last night Austin destroyed The Nation before giving Vince another stunner. Right before, Vince tried to tell Austin they’d be consequences if he touched him. In typical Stone Cold fashion he didn’t listen and punished his boss. What will Vince have in store for Austin on Raw?

Jarrett became even more frustrated at the hands of Lawler who cost him another main event match. Before this he challenged Lawler to a match at In Your House which he accepted, but made it a hardcore match. We get to see Lawler back in wrestling action this week, but surely Jarrett will do everything to stop him getting a win.

With the Unforgiven just one week away expect plenty of fireworks on Raw is War!
