The Official WWE / NXT Discussion Thread *May Contain Spoilers*

So here's my thoughts that nobody cares about. Haven't read the rest of the thread yet.

- Enzo Amore & Big Cass vs. Chris Jericho & Kevin Owens

It was ok. Bit sloppy in places but entertaining and the right team won. Nothing wrong with it.

- Sasha Banks © vs. Charlotte

Oh my god, make it stop. Maffew could pretty much just run this match for the next Botchamania. I don't think Charlotte pulled off one move properly. As cool as the top rope Razor's Edge spot was, Sasha landing on her head was ugly. Everything Charlotte did was ugly. The spot where Charlotte just dropped Sasha on the ropes for no reason was ugly. I was glad this was over, for Sasha's sake. Made even more cringeworthy in comparison to how good the 6-woman tag was later on. It wasn't completely bad, the top rope Boston Crab was cool, but overall it was uncomfortable to watch.

I would complain about the Women's Title being on second, but after seeing it I was quite thankful they gave me time to forget it. The Legit Boss is going to need a Legit Neckbrace for a while. Will Ospreay probably has one she can borrow.

- The Miz vs. Apollo Crews

It happened, I guess, and nobody nearly died. So there's that. I quite liked it actually, Crews got to show off his signature stuff and nobody accidentally called him Apollo Creed. So overall pretty decent.

- AJ Styles vs. John Cena

I might be the only one. I'm probably the only one. Well, I know I'm not the only one but I'm sure it's an unpopular opinion: I kinda hated it. It's fantastic that Styles won, of course. But the match itself was like something out of WWE 2K17. They basically just used every move they know, sometimes twice for good measure, and kicked out of everything. And after all that, Styles won with a forearm smash. Let's be honest here, it's a forearm smash. He didn't win with two Styles Clashes, he didn't win with the modified AA. He won with a forearm smash. I guess Cena used up all his stamina bar and mistimed the kickout minigame. I lost interest part way through and started playing TEW on the second monitor.

- Gallows & Anderson vs. The New Day

This was a fun match, for what it was. Big E's return was pretty cool, not sure how I feel about a babyface running in and causing a DQ in a title match, and Jon Stewart... ugh, but the match kept me interested. But yeah, the heels win via DQ and Jon Stewart is a babyface? WWE is confusing.

- Dean Ambrose vs. Dolph Ziggler

I felt sorry for these guys. Firstly the world title match is in the middle of the show a few months after main eventing Wrestlemania, and the fans could not have given less of a crap. I guess going on after Cena/Styles was going to kill any match. The match itself entertained me, but I was a bit gutted that Ziggler didn't look more of a threat. He got a bit of offense in, but I felt that Ambrose mostly just ignored it. I never once felt that Ziggler stood much of a chance, other than after he hit the ZigZag (which is still a lame name for a finisher).

- Women's Six Man Tag

Honestly, in with a shout for MOTN for me. I mean, I'd say that for any match Natalya is in, but after Charlotte had done her best to kill the division (and her opponent) earlier, this was a welcome surprise. Nikki Bella being on the heel team was... odd, but I guess unavoidable, after all it wasn't a babyface who got suspended two days before the PPV. But yeah, I enjoyed this match a lot. Probably third best, overall. Not bad for a throwaway match only added to the card at the last minute (and then presumably changed afterwards. I mean, whether Eva Marie would've actually competed or not or whether Nikki Bella was always supposed to return, I don't know, but...).

- Finn Balor vs. Seth Rollins

I loved the touch of Rollins appearing at ringside during Balor's entrance and not having one of his own. His ring attire was cool too. Balor's entrance was pretty cool, but it's no Nakamura or Roode now, is it? The match itself was... ok? Lost interest at various points throughout. 75% of Balor's offence was dropkicks and stomps, which got a bit old. They did some cool stuff though. I still don't like the Coup de Grace as a finisher, especially for a main event guy (hell, champion now). The belt looks horrendous, also, but that's not their fault. Edit: Reading this back it sounds like I didn't like the match much. I did, especially compared to the rest of the card. It was fun. Just not... y'know, great.

- Rusev vs. Roman Reigns

Eh. I'm not sure a 5 hour PPV needed this to pad it out. Especially not AFTER BOTH WORLD TITLE MATCHES. Also, considering what we've seen the other wrestlers do to each other earlier on the show, it made Rusev look a bit of a pussy to have to be medically disqualified with 'broken ribs' after a bit of ringside brawling. Especially as that all happened BEFORE the spear. Overall, pointless and uninteresting.

- Brock Lesnar vs. Randy Orton

You're ****ing kidding me, right? "Fifteen years in the making", and we get a glorified squash match with a really, really weird ending? Orton hit three moves. Count them, three. RKO on the table, second rope DDT, another RKO. Then Lesnar kicked out, ruining the RKO's effectiveness.

Meanwhile, Lesnar throws Orton around like a ragdoll, busts him worse than Eddie Guerrero that one time, and wins via TKO?

I don't really blame the fans for crapping all over it. After five hours, that's the payoff?

I'm glad I watched Takeover on Saturday. At least I saw one good wrestling PPV this weekend.

<p><span style="text-decoration:underline;"><strong>SummerSlam Review:</strong></span></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Enzo & Cass vs JeriKO</strong> - Solid match.</p><p>

<strong>Charlotte vs Sasha</strong> - Solid match let down by Charlotte wrestling dangerously and the need to write Sasha off TV.</p><p>

<strong>Miz vs Crews</strong> - Solid match.</p><p>

<strong>Styles vs Cena</strong> - Great match and a huge win for AJ. Contender for MOTY.</p><p>

<strong>New Day vs The Club</strong> - OK match. Disliked the booking. Stewart didn't need to be there and New Day need to drop the belts to JeriKO.</p><p>

<strong>Ziggler vs Ambrose</strong> - Solid match with an anticlimactic finish. After the strong build it was disappointing. I'm beginning to think the bookers don't know how to script a good Ambrose match so the sooner he drops the title the better.</p><p>

<strong>Naomi, Carmella & Becky vs Natalya, Bliss & Nikki</strong> - OK match. Good to have Nikki back.</p><p>

<strong>Rollins vs Balor</strong> - Good match. I had a feeling Balor would win. Since when was it No DQ? Changing the color of the leather to create a "new" belt is lazy.</p><p>

<strong>Rusev vs Reigns</strong> - Reigns (the babyface) is bullying Rusev (the heel). I like both guys and they don't deserve this nonsensical booking.</p><p>

<strong>Lesnar vs Orton</strong> - Solid match and the ending was fine but it should have been longer and I would preferred Orton to win.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Verdict:</strong> For a 4+ hour show it was seriously lacking in quality content. I liked the new set and split announce teams. But there were way too many matches, the card order seemed to chosen at random and not enough matches delivered on their hype. And for the start of "new era" and following another great NXT Takeover that's not good enough.</p>

Surprised to see Jericho staying for so long in this most recent return. Anyone knows when is he leaving again?

He got into a back stage incident with Lesnar after the main event sunday, which I just find hilarious because apparently one of the reasons was that he was upset that he as a "locker room leader" wasn't in on the finish and that he had to "get to the bottom of it" for the boys in the back, and that Lesnar gets to much special treatment for a part timer.

It's like, my dude, you are a part timer. Now, yes, he is being used vastly different, but that still made me chuckle.

The story doing the rounds last night was that he was talking to Michael Hayes about the finish and when Hayes said he didn't know if it was a work or not, Jericho went "that's bullspit" (paraphrasing of course). Lesnar walked in at that, got in Jericho's face and Jericho refused to back down - even shouting at Vince about it until HHH calmed it down and let Vince know Lesnar started it.

I liked the PPV, even if the pacing seemed off. Two stoppages/non-finishes in a row? That's like having two tag matches in a row, or a manager with clients in consecutive matches - you just don't.

Also, for being on the heels, Nikki got a big pop. Found that odd.

I can't stand Charlotte with the "Wooooo" and those ridiculous things above her eye.

During her last 6 months or so, it seemed to change show by show, depending on who she was facing. Also, Nikki loves to play to the crowd even when she's a heel, so people want to cheer for her. She's always done that, and it hurts her Heel work. </p><p> </p><p> Second, they've made a big deal of how hard she's worked to come back, and how much she loves the business. That's awesome, and I appreciated all the coverage, but if your going to try to keep her Heel that's tough. We saw this with Rollins, I don't care how much keyfabe you want to invest in, thats going to get sympathy from the audience.</p><p> </p><p> To put it simpler way, did anyone come out of that Rollins 24/7 show thinking "what a heel, I'm gonna boo him". Of course not, you saw a guy dying because he couldn't get in there and do what he loves. They did the same with Nikki, so hopefully they wren't expecting her to get a heel reaction.</p><p> </p><p> Now Seth turned the reaction on it's head with a great promo the night after his return. He still get's cheers, but he reestablished himself as a Heel in keyfabe. We'll see if they let Nikki do the same.</p><p> </p><p> Or hell, mabye she's just gonna stay Face. Becky and Nattie are the only established women in the division, so you could really put her on either side.</p>

I did like the show fine overall, I'm on record as being pro Brock's MMA-influenced style. The finisher/reversal fest WWE main event style is perfectly fine, but Cena/AJ gave us a four/four and a half star version of that, so we don't need every main event to be just the same. No idea what Dolph/Dean was supposed to be, though. That just sucked.</p>

The finish of Dolph/Dean was awkward. It... didn't quite steal the show. Can't exactly give a full account of the PPV as I slept through half of the thing as I was dead tired. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />
