I thought Cena killed it talking about that Make-A-Wish kid and having just tiniest crack in his voice. Really good stuff from him.</p><p> </p><p> The battle royal was pretty solid as far as they go. I thought the Henry/RVD spot was entertaining. The Big Show's comeback was a little uneventful but I'minterested to see where it goes. </p><p> </p><p> I was also marking out a little for the Usos. They've grown on me there's a piece of me that wants to see them and PTP in the mix for them Shield belts.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> I love how Cena did all that, got the crowd going really great, all that and more, I mean a really great promo.... But Bryan is freakin' awesome still, and his come back after that was funnier then anything else on the show. </p><p> </p><p> I mean, the Punk thing was good, made him look great, but DB stole the show again.</p>

<p>My prediction for Summerslam (not exactly goign out on a limb here):</p><p> </p><p>

"Daniel Bryan is the new champion, folks! That's amazing! He may have nothing left after an absolutely breathtaking match but here he is. Your NEW WWE champion!"</p><p> </p><p>

<em>I hear voices in my head, they talk to me, they understand...</em></p><p> </p><p>

I don't know if it's going to be DB though....</p><p> </p><p> There have been some non-character comments by DB about Cena's actual wrestling skill in the ring, and he basically said "There's a sense that people question his wrestling ability and I don't think that's accurate. If you look at the matches he's put on, he's been part of great matches. Even his match with Mark Henry at Money in the Bank was a fantastic match. You know, people are saying he's not this great wrestler, but for someone who's not a great wrestler he's sure had some great matches! I don't think that's a fair assessment of him."</p><p> </p><p> I bring this up mainly for the irony in how the story line has evolved into "Wrestler" vs "Entertainer", and Bryan saying "You're not a wrestler!" The facts are that he feels completely opposite, and even Punk said similar things before about Cena. Almost every credible "wrestler" type worker that has had the opportunity has had nothing but kind words to say about Cena, from Jericho on. It's crazy that people still keep those same stigma's, but it's great for us because they are capitalizing on them in Cena's story lines.</p><p> </p><p> Don't get me wrong, he had the look, the mic skills and such that everyone knows Vince is influenced by, and is his vision of what wrestling should be. It wasn't his in ring skill that has kept him where he is, is what I'm trying to say... The fact is that over the years he has improved, and become someone that could actually pull out good match's from people that normally don't have good match's, and great match's from people that can put off good match's... In other words he has carried some people to better match's then they are normally capable of having. </p><p> </p><p> I didn't really mean this post to be about Cena. My overall reason for posting was to show how far the WWE has gone into "our" minds to bring us things we want to here.... "I really wish I could do that with you John, but you're not a wrestlerrrrrrrrrrrr!" That line was just classic.</p><p> </p><p> EDIT: Although I know Lesnar vs Punk is a dream match, one that I've been dreaming of seeing since this all started, before Lesnar even come back, I have a feeling DB and Cena are going to steal the show, kind of like Punk vs Cena. I agree with something Steve Austin said... When Cena is put up against the "right" people, he will have great match's. I believe DB is one of these "Right" people. </p><div class="ipsEmbeddedVideo"><div><iframe width="200" height="150" src="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/nf-kiUcAdVI?start=144&feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="" title="2003 Velocity John Cena vs Daniel Bryan"></iframe></div></div><p> </p><p> Edit: Just watched that Punk segment again, props to Brock, Heyman and Curtis Axle on selling all that. Really felt huge.</p>

<p>A pal of mine has a podcast called Interesting People Talking Wrestling. As is probably reasonably clear by the title of the podcast, the show features interesting people (from many walks of life) talking about wresting. </p><p> </p><p>

I popped up for episode 9 of the podcast. I'm an MMA guy, so this episode consisted of chat about the many MMA/Wrestling connections/crossovers over the years. </p><p> </p><p>

You can check it out here: <a href="http://martinhines.podbean.com/2013/06/07/9-brad-wharton-interesting-people-talking-wrestling/" rel="external nofollow">http://martinhines.podbean.com/2013/06/07/9-brad-wharton-interesting-people-talking-wrestling/</a></p><p> </p><p>

There are 10 episodes online so far, each featuring an 'interesting' person from some walk of like discussing their love for wrestling. Episode 10, for example, features a dude who is a huge wrestling fan who has been blind from 3 years old. <a href="http://martinhines.podbean.com/2013/06/20/10-des-delgadillo-interesting-people-talking-wrestling/" rel="external nofollow">http://martinhines.podbean.com/2013/06/20/10-des-delgadillo-interesting-people-talking-wrestling/</a></p><p> </p><p>

Enjoy!</p>

<p>Raw Review:</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Bryan vs Barrett</strong> - Good match with a dodgy finish to get the crowd even more behind Bryan heading into SS. Nice little push for Barrett if they capitalize on it.</p><p>

<strong>Sandow vs Orton</strong> - Sandow is even more awesome with his leather briefcase and handcuffs. Good match and Cody was equally good on commentary.</p><p>

<strong>Khali & Natalya vs Big E & AJ</strong> - Shame Nattie (and maybe the referee) botched the ending. AJ screaming at Hornswoggle was hilarious.</p><p>

<strong>Vince/Maddox/HHH</strong> - Worth watching to see Maddox get the Pedigree.</p><p>

<strong>Kane vs Titus</strong> - Useless squash match for Kane. No offense from Titus or interference from Young. Kane out-foxing the Wyatts was more impressive.</p><p>

<strong>Del Rio vs Kofi</strong> - Solid match.</p><p>

<strong>Real Americans vs Usos</strong> - Uncle Zeb going in hard on California! The tag division is heating up. Crowd were lively for this match. DUI chants <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

<strong>Miz TV</strong> - Cena & D-Bry tag-team burying Miz <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> God-Tier promo from Cena and Bryan. "Because you're not a wrestler and you don't deserve it!" I'm so hyped for this feud!</p><p>

<strong>Fandango vs Truth</strong> - Waste of time but at least it played into the Battle Royal.</p><p>

<strong>US Title Battle Royal</strong> - Slow start and an ill-timed ad break. Good spot with Kofi, Cesaro & Swagger. Wouldn't have minded Henry with the US Title but Ambrose vs RVD should be good.</p><p>

<strong>Heyman & Lesnar vs Punk</strong> - Punk as an intelligent, never-back-down babyface is good. Segment was better than a match would have been but the segment almost outstayed its welcome.</p><p> </p><p>

Verdict: Quality episode overall. A few matches and segments (Bellas) on this Raw were duds and the mixed tag botch was painful to watch. But the first 2 matches were strong. Cena & Bryan segment was awesome. Punk hitting Lesnar with the camera was good.</p><p> </p><p>

So from my perspective the botch was all on the referee and not Natalya.</p>

So from my perspective the botch was all on the referee and not Natalya.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> I'd have to watch it again but the way I saw it: Referee was out of position. Natalya applied the hold and let go after a few seconds (which was stupid anyway because a quick tap would have made AJ look weak). AJ didn't tap quickly enough (possibly because she was keeping an eye on the referee's position) and the referee started counting too late.</p><p> </p><p> Possible causes: 1. Miscommunication between AJ and Natalya over how quickly she was supposed to tap. 2. Referee was out of position. 3. Natalya released before the referee tapped her on the shoulder and rang the bell to signal a 3 count. 4. Natalya's hands slipped and incorrectly assumed she had the 3 count.</p><p> </p><p> Either way Natalya has to take some share of the blame. I feel bad for the referee, though. It wouldn't be the first time a small mistake ended with a referee being fired. Natalya will be fine because Total Divas is getting pushed.</p>

Good for him. Like the article noted, he's the first wrestler to come out while still employed by a major promotion as far as I know, so that takes guts. I also just noticed that, in that video at least, he looks like a black John Cena. Or maybe Cena looks like a white D-Young?

<p>I loved how he acted in that video. "pfft, yeah, sure, just look at me."</p><p> </p><p>

This might actually help his career. He said it like it was no big deal, no secret, etc. Outstanding, and congrats to him. WWE already has a statement up. Good for him.</p><p> </p><p>

If it were me, I would keep him the same as always. They never used Cena's brother in any story lines as far as I know, don't see them doing anything here that Darren Young doesn't want them to do.</p>

Given the WWE's current PG, politically correct status, as well as how much public attitudes and opinions of homosexuality seem to have changed in recent years, I don't think there's any way they turrn Black Cena into a gay stereotype.</p><p> </p><p> If they do try and exploit it in any way, it will be by turning Young face and featuring him more prominently.</p>

I agree with Chris, I thought on raw cena and Bryan absolutely smashed it. A great promo. Both men were entirely believable. Cena didn't slip into joke mode and managed to avoid too many cliches. Cena showed real emotion talking about the make a wish stuff. And Daniel Bryan's point about being more hungry because he's never held the wwe title also seemed very real. Bryan needed that for me. I found his comedy stuff with Kane and as an underdog character during his recent singles run excellent. But I was concerned he lacked the gravitas to be a proper champion but with his work on raw it said to me that he could carry the company. Perhaps not for an extended period, I don't think a long reign would feel right, but for a couple of months he would make a great champ.
