Checking on DOTT

It's getting TEAM E.L.I.T.E. to commit to the project publicly.

 

I would've assumed they didn't want to announce anything publicly because as we've all seen, here and elsewhere, when a mod is announced there are the constant "Is it ready yet?" posts. If I was working on a mod as highly regarded as DOTT I know I wouldn't mention it publicly until it was near completion.

 

Programmers and scripters don't want to be held accountable with due dates.

 

The DOTT team aren't being paid for their efforts though. Why rush and produce something half-assed if there isn't a need to? Would you rather they released what they have on a promised date even if it was incomplete, or wait until it everything was smoothed out? We've all seen instances of mods and even retail video games (Driv3r - unbelievable that was released in such a state) which were released far too early.

Hey, maybe I can be a scapegoat this year. Perhaps I can become a folk villain after I get banned for being so hated. So in 2011 SlipShirtSnot can say "D.O.T.T wasn't released because idoits [sic] like DaceSenoit were unappreciative of all the free work the D.O.T.T. team did."

 

Of course, my message would have been distorted by Groupthink.

 

I gotta be the heel to you self-righteous people, huh? Last I checked I was simply expressing an unpopular opinion. The thread should have been dead a while ago. I assure you I'm not a troll, and already went over my reasons. Last I checked, we have free will to have different opinions.

I'll be finished updating D.O.T.T. long before Tom Arnold and the rest of TEAM E.L.I.T.E. will, and I look forward to playing it with myself in the privacy of my own home. I may need Viagra.

I don't have nearly the pull you think I do Dace, I was just asked for input and to help out with '08 before it got scrapped. The simple answer was, Boon lost interest in the series and didn't even buy a copy of TEW08. I'm not sure why you expected him to make data for a game he wasn't playing. I edited a lot of stuff in the database and worked on a lot (because it was a mod I enjoyed and wanted to play) and handed it off to DJChris, who took it from there because he had permission to work on an official release.

 

I can say your attitude in this thread doesn't make me (I can't speak for others) want to hurry up or work harder on this mod so you can have a copy. That kind of sucks.

 

I'm not sure where all your belligerence comes from. You started off insulting everyone who ever worked on this mod while, at the same time, stating how much you want a copy now. You deride any work anyone else has put into it yet haven't contributed anything yourself. No one thinks they are elite or above anyone else, not that I've seen. It's all this fantasy you made up. People have worked hard on this mod, a lot harder than I have, and I don't see any reason to insult them over it. A "difference of opinion" was never the case here. You were insulting people for no reason other than to get attention for yourself.

 

You say you want to move on and let it be but I always notice that you make sure you have the last post in the thread.

If that is the result, I truly regret ever asking the question. This is by far my favorite real world fed as someone who enjoyed wrestling from this time period very much and grew up in this time period. It takes a tremendous amount of work by folks that understand this game much more than me to put together such a quality mod.

 

Hopefully when the time is right, those that have done this one in the past will take on the challenge and share it with those of us that while they don't know us, respect their work very much.

Are you mad that you cant make a mod as good as dott or do you just crave for people to notice you? I haven't been a member very long at all maybe three days but you are just disrespectfull I mean really. I respect those who do mods, and who have helped make the game more enjoyable but since day 1 I have said it over and over again, I don't need any of these people to "be my friend" just like I don't need them to "be my enemy", I've got plenty of both offline so don't feel the need to kiss ass and suck up to anybody on a message board or insult and stir thigns up with individuals. The reason I say this is so that you realise this isn't an elitist opinion, you just seem like one of lifes losers who needs so badly to find a girl, or a guy (whichever) go out and have some fun, get a little dirty, get a little drunk because life really is bigger than the greydogsoftware forums and a mod named DOTT.
