You probably already know this, but just in case you don't, you can get rid of the shiny look by going into the surfaces tab and setting the highlight/specular color to pure black or something close to it. The darker the color, the less shine you get. This is assuming you're using DAZ though, I have no idea how Poser works.

With the Elite textures, Specular is your friend. A lot of textures I've used in the past have dealt with specularity very poorly, so I do as you mention above, I switched the Specularity to black or just tell the light to go 'diffuse only'. NOT SO WITH ELITE TEXTURES. Those suckers seem designed to pick up those extra bits of light for an awesome highlight. I heart them.

Although now J Silver's got me thinking. If he's using the same textures as I am, how are his guys looking so different? What has he done with the lighting?

Experimented. Trust me, I've been playing around with my lighting set-up for years to make decent sets. Though I can pretty much guarantee lighting is a lot easier in Poser.

It could also just be the difference between the 3Delight and Firefly engines. And if none of that makes a difference you can just bug jtlant.

If anyone's open to suggestions, might I put forth some of the lesser known characters, like a few of the ladies from Australia?

Brittini Burke (original render is fine except for the Gladys Knight upper lip and her hair seems to have a talent for levitation), Molly Cuddle (someone find the frying pan that hit her flush in the face!), Autumn Gleeson, Melissa Abernathy, Stephanie Drucker (whose render does not match her SA rating IMO), Taniko Jo, etc.

I figure since Abi (another C-Verse lesser light) was done so spectacularly, I'd try to keep the ball rolling. Maybe Reese Paige too? She looks way too old to be 34.

If a character has a unique feature like that, I'm totally keeping it in. Results... weren't good. She was a character I thought I nailed, gone to sleep, and woken up to the ugliest thing I'd ever seen.

I'm blown away by the Giedroyc and DuBois alts, truly. J, I really love the way you're providing evolved versions of the original poses and expressions in so many cases.

Anyway, has anyone ever thought of doing a re-render for Lobster Warrior? I just find myself looking at that goofy mask - and I know it's supposed to be a goofy mask - and wondering what else could be done with it. He keeps autopushing to Main Event in my game, and I just can't quite take the final step of pushing him that way.

Heck, you could even go all out and give him a full-face sea monster mask - think the Lobstermen from X-Com: Terror From The Deep, for example.
