The Video Game Thread

<p>Witcher 3 is sooooo good, but considering they're not into WRPGs they probably won't be into it. But that game really is one of the rare few that live up to every word of the hype.</p><p> </p><p>

In other news I've been way into board games lately and it's killing my video game time. But I was a fan of "This War of Mine" on steam and i just picked up "The Little Ones" on XB1 since it's on sale this week and wow... yea really great little strategy game. For whatever reason these games just get to me. I find they really immerse me in that awful world and I find the choices I make to be very serious. I'm sure not everyone will share that experience, but its one of the rare few games that makes me actually feel something. </p><p> </p><p>

In a similar vein I played Life is Strange as well and again... blown away on an emotional level. I typically wouldn't be able to get into a game like that but I went in knowing nothing and expecting anything, and I think that's a good mindset to have going into that game. Really great experience.</p>

<p>I know the game has been out forever but I finally went and played all of the endings in GTA V (I beaten it like six times with the revenge on all of your enemies ending). I never really felt any reason to do so before because it just did not appeal to me. I have to say killing Michael and Trevor were both kind of let downs for me. </p><p> </p><p>

To me the revenge against all of the enemies is just the better ending. I like both Trevor and Micheal too much to want to see them die. There was just no satisfaction in killing either of them and honestly I felt a sort of void not having them both around. Which is odd because that sort of thing never happens to me. I usually could care less about any fictional characters dying.</p>

<p>Life is Strange is on sale vor 8.5€ on the Square site, which is a good deal. But the Steam sales might be better.</p><p> </p><p>

Is there anybody who bought the E3 Ticket Humble Bundle and wants to trade away his key for Pathfinder chests? I'll give you any spare key of mine for it.</p>

Picked up This War of Mine ($4.99) and The Banner Saga 2 ($15.99, only 20%, so not a great deal, but I really want to play it, so <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />) on the steam summer sale. Any other great deals out there folks are grabbing?

I mean it was okay but not as great as the other Walking Dead games.</p>

<p>So far I got:</p><p>

- Rise of the Tomb Raider season pass (18)</p><p>

- Life is Strange season pass (8.5)</p><p> </p><p>

And I'm afraid that's pretty much it, given the constant nature of the sales (which is a good thing). My backlog just keeps increasing and I never find the courage to start fresh with a game, instead just playing casual games.</p><p> </p><p>

I also got the StarCraft Protoss story for 19 but that's through a different key provider.</p>

Hey guys a little help for a boy still at the PS3 level please. Could someone recommend a good game that plays like an Assassin's Creed but does not have the conspiracy trash storyline? Tried the first one on the advice of a family member and loved the control scheme. Game played really smooth and the commands felt intuitive for the most part. But the idea of being some shadowy conspiracy's puppet felt depressing and being asked to kill characters who were supposed to be Christian really ooged me out given my church childhood. Give me the same gameplay where I was assassinating alien double agents to prevent an invasion of Earth or something like that I'd probably have been far more down with the game. Anybody have suggestion of where I could turn for something like that on the Tres?

It was a great game with good DLC and some really smooth controls on the 360, might be the same on the PS3.</p>

I've put more hours into that than any Xbox One game to date. The game world is both beautiful and dangerous all at the same time. I must admit, there isn't a lot of upcoming titles making me think "that's a must have" on console but Mafia III is probably one I'll buy. Maybe Ghost Recon Wildlands as well but only if I get through the backlog of games I've still got to do on both PC and Xbox One (19 at last count - not including the casual games).</p>

I popped into GAME today to get rid of a few older games and they asked me (like they always do) if I wanted to preorder any upcoming games.. Do you guys not know about no man's sky? I've been hyped for it since they first showed it off at E3 a few years ago. Beyond that I'm actually excited for Call of Duty I don't care what others say. Horizon looks good but won't be out until what March. South Park looks to be just as awesome as the first and then there's god of war. Granted only 3 of those games are set to come out this year but there's some great looking games in development.

<p>I'm sure I'll play South Park eventually. The last game was fun. But I'm not looking forward to it at all. It'll be "there", and I'll buy it in a summer sale.</p><p> </p><p>

I did see some footage of a new Star Wars action game (probably for 2018) that looked pretty sweet. But that's so far away it's not even worth talking about it.</p><p> </p><p>

I DID forget about Mass Effect Andromeda which I'll probably get sooner rather than later. But that'll take a while too, I suppose.</p>

So, other than No Man's Sky, there's Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Dishonored 2, the new South Park, a bit of a longshot quality-wise but Titanfall 2 might be good, then there's...

...

... well, damn. I came in here thinking there was this huge long list. But there's like, 4 games, and maybe a 5th if they don't screw Titanfall 2 up like they did the first one.

Oh yeah, Mass Effect Andromeda, but that's not until next March.

And Civ 6, but... don't let Blackman hear this, but... I actually don't like Civ that much.

Sacrilege! Watch out, or soon there will not be enough room on this forum for the both of us, just like there's not enough room on a tile for two units! :p

To each their own, I suppose. I don't like Dishonored that much. Like Jaysin says: quite repetitive. I also dismissed the latest Thief very soon. Stealth just isn't my thing (just like subtlety isn't my thing ).

Again: like most people I've got a backlog list (I narrowed it down to about 5 games) so no hurry for new games. I've bought "Thea" on GOG and it seems like a fun game with fresh ideas, but I couldn't get into it.

There is so much hype for this game, but the game looks so empty.. the last trailer "FIGHT" have lost me. I expect this game to be like the last duke nukem. I hope not. But i think so.. When you have Star citizen (IF that game is finished someday) and Elite dangerous in front of you, it's hard.</p>
