mauboy
Bowl Bound But not what we want! We go to the South Louisiana Bowl where we'll face an 8-3 Troy football team. Oh, well, guegss we can't ask for much more considering our horrid season. We're favorites by 17 in this game.. Hopefully we can live up to that big number. mauboy
Bowl Game vs Troy(8-3) We should win this game quite comfortably with a healthier Pointer and Banaszak back. If we don't win, I may resign as head coach. 1st Quarter We start the game off with an okay drive that stalled on the Troy 26 yard line after turning it over on downs. But on Troy's first drive, which was looking good until they fumbled it into our hands near midfield, giving us the ball back. On the very next play though on a screen play, Epps threw it horribly off the mark into the arms of Troy's defense. Great! Just what we need. Now the game is going to be a final score of like, 17-16... I don't know who wins though.. lol A few changes of possesions later it's the end of the first quarter.. scoreless 2nd Quarter Troy gives us the ball back following a punt, it'll be our ball on the Troy 40 yard line to start the drive and the second quarter. David Smith gets us on the board first with a field goal.. not what I wanted with that great field position, but I'll take it. 3-0. Troy fumbles the ball on their first play, which we pick up and return 36 yards for the touchdown, and just like that it's 10-0. Poor Troy. Smith gets us another three points as we take a 13-0 lead with four minutes to play in the half. We're coasting pretty smoothly now. We try getting into the endzone on 4th and Goal from the two yard line, but we come up short... but on the very next play from scrimmage, our defense busts through the line and makes up two points with a safety. 15-0. Minute to go in the half as we get another shot at a score. Yup, another shot for either team to score as Epps throws his second pick of the day but this time it's returned 49 yards for the touchdown! And Troy is back in this game. After a quick run from Pointer for 15 yards, we decide to go to the air and it pays off as we hit a long pass of 52 yards to put us on the 1 yard line with 8 seconds to play. We'll go for the endzone once then kick the field goal if we have time.. We get sacked and forced to kick a field goal.. Smith nails the 23 yarder to make it 18-7 as we head into the half. 3rd Quarter Smith starts off on the wrong foot to start the second half as he missed a 26 yarder way right...... *sigh* Rather than leaving it to Smith's foot, we score on 3rd and Goal from 4 yards out, this touchdown catch by Moore. 25-7. Pointer takes in a screen pass from Epps and scrambles his way into the endzone for a 25 yard touchdown catch. 32-7. This game finishes as Troy scrapes a few more yards as the clock ran out to get them 100 yards on the day total. Ouch. Poor guys. There only touchdown coming on defense. So we win 32-7 as we end the season. In a surprising move, we're going to be starting a freshman at QB and RB! QB Johnson and RB Barno will be starters to start the year! If they start to show that they're not ready, I will not hesitate to bring in the previously named starters in Epps and RB Johnson. I just feel that the two guys I've named are my best options, so we'll see what happens as the season gets under way. Week 1 - #22 Texas @ North Carolina - Us by 3 If we play like we should, we should not have a problem winning this one. But as we've seen during the past two seasons, anything can happen with us. HOpefully all the freshman starting today step it up big time and can play well for us all season. 1st Quarter North Carolina opens the game with the ball and they get on the board first with a 2 yard touchdown run on 3rd and goal. 7-0 early on. Our offense does nothing as we get called for penalties left and right and we go three and out... poi-fect. Johnson throws his first bad pass of the season, the Heels defense comes up with an interception as we're not able to get things going once again. 2nd Quarter QB Johnson started to show some promise, being 7 of 9 passing so far in this game despite his interception, but he threw another pick in a goal line situation. Our running game hasn't been too hot so I might be depending on too many youngsters at the moment. 1st down for UNC after the interception. North Carolina gets the scoring going again with a 22 yard touchdown pass. 14-0 now. We'll have to change things up if we can't get some points on the board before the half. 21-0 as our offense comes up empty again allowing UNC's offense to continue to DOMINATE our defense. Wow, wow. THAT will be the halftime score, 21-0 as the Tar Heels dominate the first half. I'm not going to make any changes right away just because we're playing fine, just a few stupid mistakes... We can still win this one if we get on the board to start the half. 3rd Quarter 28-0 as the UNC defense continues to manhandle our young offense... They get on the board yet again. 4th Quarter Mixing things up didn't help. 35-0. ROFFLE. Worst.Game.Ever. That, ladies and gentleman, will be the final score. 35-0 as we get massacred by a mediocre football team. What does that make us? God-awful! Woohoo. Five turnovers to their zero helps a little. Maybe the 95 degree weather will help us out a little. We're going to keep the same starters as last week 1st Quarter Our defense allows us to get off to a good start, picking off a pass from the Maryland QB. But not that great of a start as we turn the ball over on downs on the MD 40 yard line. Damn. The Terrapins get on the board first with a field goal to take a 3-0 lead. We get our first points of the year following the MD FG. QB Johnson connected with WR Chandler who broke a few tackles and scored on a 17 yard touchdown reception! 7-3! Our first lead of the year!!! With under a minute to go in the first quarter, Maryland gets another field goal to make it a 1 point game. 7-6. 2nd Quarter On our next drive we were moving down the field into Maryland territory, but we fumbled it after a reception on the Md 30 yard line. Damn it. 'Pins ball. We get the ball back though following a fumble, we return it lots of yards to the Maryland 42 yard line. So much for good field position; it's 1st and 30 now after two stupid holding penalties, bringing back gains.........guh After gaining 12 of those yards back we punt it back to Maryland. MD ball on their own 3 yard line after a great punt from one of the best punters in the country, a freshman no less! We nearly safety 'em on the first play, but they did lose two on the running play. A sack would be nice right now. On the next play, the Terrapins botch the handoff and we safety them! 9-6! We get good field position to start our drive but we go three and out. We'll get another shot to score before the end of the half and we do take it allll the way down to the 12 yard line where Johnson connected with the defensive back of Maryland who took it 98 yards for the go ahead touchdown. 13-9 as we head into halftime. Damn. 3rd Quarter Johnson continues his misfortunes as he throws an interception after one of our receivers slipped to the ground... ugh Thankfully the defense was up to the task of holding them to a field goal. 16-9 now... let's go Epps(subbin'). Another fumble by our receivers gives the ball back to Maryland. Okay. So I figured it out.. the more turnovers we have, the worse we lose! Got it. I'll try to avoid turnovers by benching all my supposedly best players.. 23-9 as Maryland gets into the endzone on a nice pass play. 4th Quarter Maryland keeps us in the game by missing another field goal to start the final quarter. Still 23-9. After a lucky 64 yard bomb from Epps, we were able to get into the endzone on a 12 yard connection from Epps to Banaszak to get back into the game. 23-16. Still 12 to play in the game. We've switched our main defense from 4-2-5 to 4-3, and we've been successful so far. Epps continues his dumb game, throwing an interception with 8 minutes to play in the game. We get the ball back after our defense comes up with an interception on 3rd and long for MD. Our ball with over six minutes to go still. I really don't know which QB to use here.. I think I'll go with the freshman, he showed more consistency. The decision to bring the freshman back in pays off as he leads the way down the field and eventually hits TE Brazzel in the endzone for the game-tying touchdown.... or is it game-tying? The extra point is FUDGED up and we will be behind by 1 now. Poi-fect. 23-22. Under two minutes to go now.... We go for the onside kick and don't get it. So our defense needs to force a fumble now... damn it. I'm pissed. An effin extra point finishes our nice comeback. We get the ball back with no timeouts to go, 42 seconds left and..... wait for it.. wait for it... our ball on the 3 yard line. We've got our hands full here. Miracle time? I think so! lol 1st and 10 - Chandler catches it, it's a sprint to the endzone!! The defensive player comes out of no where and pokes the ball out, Maryland ball! This one is over folks. LOL Figures. At least Johnson has solidified his spot for the rest of the year. He's just going through growing pains and I'd rather do it with him than Epps who can't step up for ****. Barno too will continue to get the handoffs as long as RB Johnson can't get completely healthy. The kid, like Pointer, is always getting hurt. It was a better game by us, and I'm not that upset.. it doesn't mean a whole lot, we've got conference games coming up soon. For some reason we got some love in the polls after our loss, so, lets not disappoint!! Banaszak, the moron, out due to grades. 1st Quarter We go three and out quickly to start the game, but our defense comes up with a big turnover on the forced fumble, so we've got the ball back at the 40 yard line of KSU. We get to 3rd and Goal on the two, but Barno stumbled on the blades of grass to lose a few yards forcing us to kick a field goal. Smith nailed the 23 yarder for the FG. 3-0. KSU answers back with a field goal. 3-3 as we near the end of the first quarter. 2nd Quarter KSU gets the scoring going in the second quarter with a 1 yard touchdown run. 10-3. David Smith gets us three more points to make it 10-6 with just four minutes to go in the half. Hopefully the defense will come up with a nice stop. The Wildcats answer back with a field goal of their own to make it 13-6 as we near halftime. We'll get another shot, but I don't want to turn it over and give them a shot at scoring again. The score at the half will be 13-6, and KSU will have the ball to start the second half. QB Johnson is having a decent game, he's been decently efficient, hopefully he can step it up a little more in the second half though. 3rd Quarter After a quick 10 yard gain, then a 33 yard pass, and another 10 yard run KSU looked unstoppable to start off the half, but then we held them three straight plays and blocked their field goal to keep the momentum. JOhnson though, gives the ball back after throwing a pick, but at least it was in KSU territory, so it's time for the defense to step it up again. Things are not looking so hot right now as Johnson throws another pick, this time in our territory and KSU takes one play, 44 yards, to get a touchdown. Ouch. 19-6(missed ep), under seven to play in the third. Johnson will get another drive or two to prove himself... A great kickoff return is rendered basically useless, we started the drive on the 13 yard line, but had to kick a field goal three plays later. 19-9. Three field goals, woohoo. 4th Quarter David Smith misses a 43 yard field goal try, making Barno's longest run(50 yards) of the year mean nothing and making our defense work twice as hard... damn. Just when it looked to be over after a holding penalty on our OL, Johnson, who too looked like he was going to be benched, came up with a nice 28 yard connection to McCleskey for the touchdown, making it 19-16 with four minutes to go! KSU gets one first down before they're forced to punt it back to us with under two minutes to play in the game. 1st and 10 for us on our own 36 yard line. Plenty of time left and three timeouts to go! No problem for the youngster. We convert the 3rd and 2 for ten yards to move us into KSU territory with 1:06 left! WOot, crazy finish coming here.. to tie or win? That will be the final question. Well, the young freshman air-mailed the next play and it went into the arms of the defender instead one of our guys.. probably a bad play call on my part, I should have kept playing it laid back... oh, well. KSU attempted a 56 yarder with 20 seconds to go and missed it, but miraculously after a called timeout, the ball stayed in the air for 20 seconds apparently. Stupid time engine. 19-16 final score. We lose a heartbreaker to KSU. It was within reach!!! 2nd Quarter Johnson throws a pick a few plays into our drive... deep in our territory. guh The Sooners take two plays to get a touchdown on a 22 yard touchown pass. 14-7. 21-7 as the Sooners start to pull away. The score at the half would be 21-7 as our offense comes up short twice to end the half.. we had two chances, but we couldn't get within David Smith's kicking range to get three points either times. Oh, freakin' well. I know what I'm going to be recruiting hard core this offseason. 3rd Quarter The Sooners get another touchdown, making it 28-7 as they start to blow us out. Johnson says it's not over yet as he leads the way down the field with his arm, connecting with Carano for a touchdown. 28-14! Three minutes to go in the third, and we need a big defensive stop. 4th Quarter On Third and 11 for Oklahoma, deep in their territory, they get SACKED and they fumble the ball in the endzone, we pick it up for the touchdown! Woohoo! 28-21 and we've got a ball game! The defense comes up big again, getting another sack which put them at 3rd and Long in which they ran the ball for a few yards and are forced to punt it to us.... and we return it plenty of yards all the way back to the Oklahoma 24 yard line! We don't take advantage, nor does David Smith, we get nothing on three plays and would be forced to kick a 43 yarder which Smith routinely missed. Damn it. Oklahoma with just over two minutes to go get a chance to put this game away with a 48 yard field goal, but they miss it wide right giving our freshman QB and team one more shot at at least tying this ball game up... or at least get within one point. MCCLESKEY! What a move! He hurdles the defensive back after his catch and sprints to the endzone for a 40 yard touchdown catch! SMITH MAKES THE EXTRA POINT! Tie game! OT? 33 seconds left. Oklahoma FUMBLES it on the return! The pile gets smaller and it looks like it's Sooners ball, yup, it is! Ooh, so close. That will be the end of regulation. 28-28. OT We get the ball first. We come up short on third and 2, so we're forced to rely on the crappy leg of Smith....but miraculously he hits the 35 yard field goal. We're up three and now our defense needs to stop this potent Oklahoma offense... turnover time? Oklahoma gets two 1 yard runs to make it 3rd and 8... big play here. They run it again for one yard. They NAIL the 40 yard field goal. We're on defense now. OT 2 Wow. Oklahoma goes for it on 4th and 1 and gets it after a two yard gain.. Ouch.. we'll just have to stop 'em again. They start their next series with a nice 8 yard gain.. damn.. 2nd and 2 on the 11 yard line. SACK by DE SCHIFINO!! 12 yard loss making it 3rd and 14! They complete the next play for a grand one yard, settling for a field goal. 34-31. Our ball now. We get a one yard run, then a two yard pass... now facing a critical 3rd and 7. We're not really in Smith's range! Yikes. 3rd and 7 - We catch the defense off guard with a screen pass, Barno takes it down the field 15 yards before being tackles! 1st and Goal! 7 yard line! We get a few yards from Barno on the ground taking us to the three yard line as we face third and goal! BIG BIG play. THIS ONE IS OVER! JOHNSON TO CHANDLER IN THE ENDZONE WRAPS THIS GAME UP! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHOOOOOOO! 1-3 on the season after an exciting victory over a great Oklahoma team! Wow! Wow! That's one way to get back into the season. Johnson really had a coming out party today. He really stepped it up big for us. He was 32-55, 378 yards, 4 TD, 1 INT. This game leaves everyone except one team in the South Conference with exactly one loss; Oklahoma State is the only team without a loss, we face them in week 11. Johnson will hopefully continue his good fortunes. Barno will hopefully get his first 100 yard rushing game. Banaszak will have to earn the #1 WR spot over McCleskey who's been clutch. 1st Quarter Iowa gets the scoring going first thanks to the dropped ball by Johnson way back on our side of the field resulting in a safety. 2-0 with a few minutes to goin the first quarter of this defensive battle. ISU takes advantage of the free possesion and get into the endzone on a nice run. 9-0. 2nd Quarter We follow the ISU touchdown with a turnover on downs on the ISU 30 yard line. We're not kickin' a field goal there, that's for sure. Johnson comes back in after being checked on after a little injury. Epps came in for a drive, but that's all. Johnson is back and hopefully good to go. The Cyclones secondary gets burned as Carano catches a 41 yard touchdown pass from Johnson. 9-7. We get one more shot at some points with two minutes to go as we start the drive on the 20 yard line following a touchback on the punt from ISU. Johnson catches the defense on their heels again as he connects with Banaszak for a 49 yard touchdown pass as the half nears the end. 14-9! And we're playing like a football team! 3rd Quarter Iowa State comes up with some nice third down conversions and eventually converts one for a touchdown after one of our own defensive backs got burned. 15-14 as ISU misses the 2 point. A fantastic kick return is rendered moot as Carano fumbles the ball after his reception.. jeez, what the hell is up with our receivers fumbling it!???? That's going to call for some changes next week. 1st and 10 for ISU on their own 20 yard line. We give Smith a chance to redeem himself with a 46 yard field goal, but he doesn't.. but what was I to do on 4th and 12? ISU extends their lead to four after a field goal. 18-14. 4th Quarter Banaszak gets his second touchdown catch of the game, this one from 8 yards out! 21-18! ISU answers back with a field goal, tying up the ball game at 21! Still ten minutes to go in this one. TE Lewis will be the next receiver on our team to benefit from the arm of Johnson today. He gets a 4 yard touchdown catch on 3rd and Goal to give us the lead, 28-21 with four minutes to go in the game! Iowa State starts to look unstoppable as they move right down the field on us all the way down to the 9yard line. There is just under two minutes to go and they face 2nd and Goal. The next play isn't a good one for us, they get into the endzone on a 9 yard touchdown pass. Leaving us with 1:25 to go on our own 27 yard line as we try to put together one last drive to win it. 28-28. The first play looks like it's going to be a big gain, but it's tipped in the air and Johnson's throw is picked off at the 30 yard line, OH NO!! No! NO NO! It was a simple, bread and butter play. Damn it. ISU gets a field goal with 11 seconds to go and it will leave us with one play to go as we get a nice return to the 45 yard line on our side. One play. Can McCleskey or Banaszak come up big?? Let's go! Nope. Game over. 31-28 final score as we blow it to a bad ISU team. Gosh. Ugh. Great game for the youngster until the second to last drive. Poor kid. I will continue to play out each one though, just probably won't type much detail. 1st Quarter We get on the board first late in the first quarter with a field goal, 3-0. 2nd Quarter Baylor gets a 56 yard touchdown pass.. ugh. 7-3. With over a minute to play in the half, Baylor gets three more points to make it 10-7 as we near the end of the half. We finally make something happen, on 3rd and 10 we run a screen play that goes for 54 yards to put us into field goal range with under a minute to go. Finally, some life. Not much life after that except three incompletions and a blocked field goal. 10-3 as we hit halftime.. Man oh man. 3rd Quarter After a nice defensive series to open up the half we give the offense good field position and they take advantage ending the drive with a 1 yard touchdown run by Barno. 10-10. Jeff Johnson was benched for one series to get his head cleared up after the half, but he comes back in one drive later and leads us to another TD, this one a pass to McCleskey for six. 17-10! Now we're rollin'. 4th Quarter Our defense continues to be absolutely dominant in the second half, only giving up 40 or so yards in the half and there is just 3 minutes left following David Smith's missed attempted field goal from 45 yards out. A chance to put it away and he can't do it... With under two minutes to play, Baylor converts the 4th and 12 near midfield to keep their drive alive.. Yikes. But it doesn't matter as our defense comes up with their third pick of the evening to put this one away! Barno gets his first 100 yard game amazingly.. his last three carries put him over the mark, them being a 15 yarder, 20 yarder and 11 yarder to close out the game with 137 yards. His first impressive game, only because of those last three runs, too.. We're back in the hunt for the Big 12 title as we face both teams that are ahead of us and each of them have a loss. But first we need to get through a dangerous Nebraska team next week. Do you guys still want me to post the box scores? Or would you rather have two or three lines of stats? let me know so I can do what y'all prefer.
 mauboy
Week 8 vs #12 Nebraska(4-2) - Nebraska by 12 in this one. We're 2-4, but 2-2 in conference play, a win here would really give our guys some momentum heading into the big games of the year against Oklahoma State and TT. Here we go! 1st Quarter Johnson's near perfect game really gets going as we finally get on the board near the end of the first quarter. JJ connected with Carano 8 yards out for the TD. 7-0. 2nd Quarter Nebraska answers our touchdown with a field goal to start the second quarter. 7-3. A few changes of possesion later we got the ball on the 9 yard line where we then get called for false start and move even closer to our own endzone.... then on the first play, Barno fumbles it into the hands of Nebraska at our own 3 yard line. Tough. It takes Nebraska one play to get into the endzone. 10-7. We'll get another shot to score before the end of the half, we get the ball back after a punt with over two minutes to go at our own 24 yard line.. Here we go! But we can't convert the 3rd and 1 as Barno gets stuffed on the handoff..bummer. I was gonna go to the air too, Barno seems worthless sometimes, like today. Nebraska gets far enough for a 43 yard field goal to close out the half. 13-7 as Nebraska extends their lead as they continue to manhandle us for the most part. 3rd Quarter 16-7 as Nebraska continues their scoring run without any answered points. The rest of the third goes down quietly as we continue to struggle on offense. Johnson will get another shot or two as we head down the stretch. 4th Quarter With 8 minutes to go and another unsuccessful drive for our offense, Epps will step in for Johnson. HOpefully that will help things.. but our defense needs to make a big stop here or a turnover would be nice. But that doesn't happen as our tackling fails us and Nebraska gets into the endzone from a ways out. 24-7. Damn it. A 98 yard kick return allows for us to get into the endzone, but only barely as Epps couldn't do a whole lot but finally nailed Carano in the endzone on 4th and Goal. 24-14 with 6 minutes to play. Our defense continues to be absolutely taken advantage of as we give up another score. 31-14, and that would be the final score as we get murdered by a good Nebraska team. That knocks us out of any contention for a conference championship. A bowl game is now looking suspect.... ugh doesn't even explain it. HORRIBLE games all around.
 mauboy
Week 9 vs #13 Oklahoma State(5-1) - We're actually 11 point favorites in this one, perhaps since we're at home. SHould be a good game if we can play well. 1st Quarter Ok St takes our punt and starts up a solid drive which ends in a touchdown. 7-0 early on. Smith comes up with a field goal later in the quarter to make it 7-3. 2nd Quarter OSU gets another touchdown to make it 14-3. We answer that touchdown with a 29 yard touchdown pass from JJ to McCleskey. 14-10. 21-10 as our defense continues to suck. They drove down effortlessly. I remember when these guys were good at defense. WTH. But our offense continues to look like a well-oiled machine as we answer their touchdown with another touchdown pass, this one from Epps(Johnson got hurt a little) to FB Trejo. 21-17 with four minutes to go in the half. Lots of scoring this second quarter. We'll get another shot at some points with over a minute to play in the half. We don't get anything and we actually leave enough time for OSU to get a 50 yard field goal to end the half. 24-17. 3rd Quarter OSU starts out the second half with a shortened field thanks to a nice return and a spearing penalty on one of our idiots. 31-17. 34-17 as the Cowboys get another score. Game over as the Cowboys break up a huge 50+ yard run. 41-17. Ugh. We get a 100 yard punt return for a touchdown to keep us alive barely. 41-24. 4th Quarter We get another score as Johnson connects with Banaszak from 22 yards out. 12 minutes to go and its 44-31. !!! 44-38 as JJ connects with Banaszak again! We've got ourselves a game with seven minutes to go in this game! An apprarent mistake on my part as we didn't go for two in any of the previous touchdown plays... they get a field goal to go up by 9 and most likely finish this game up, 47-38. The final will be 53-38 as OSU gets another TD from a loonnng run once again following an interception from us. Damn. We had a shot! We were getting killed and made a comeback! We just didn't have a defense today. I can't stand it much longer. We lost 17-13 as we couldn't do much of anything until the fourth quarter. Growing pains, I guess. Next year we'll be a GREAT team! Texas football will be good whether I'm there or not, they'll just be too talented not too be! We move to probably a school worst, 2-7 as we head into the final weeks of the season. Week 12 vs TT We lose again, this time a blowout to Texas Tech, 37-13. Ouch! 2-8 Week 14 vs Texas A&M We lose a close one, 34-31. Week 15 vs #19 VT We close out the year with a loss to a good Tech team, 31-21 final score. We end our horrific season with a 2-10 record! Awesome! Glad to know I could contribute to that. They beat WI earlier in the year by 7, but this time around they beat 'em by 17. These guys were insanely good! They went 12-0. Their QB had 4039 yards, 37 TD, 5 INT Their two RB's had over 2100 yards on the ground, combining for 12 TDs. Things are going to need to change for us if we ever want to be successful! They opened up two more scholarships, making 24 scholarships available for new recruits. We'll have a harder time this year recruiting as we've lost a few prestige points, but we should still be a top 20 recruitings team. We've got lots of 5 star players wanting to come here.. including the #2 Recruit in the country, a QB. We're also hunting down the #6 Recruit, a RB. It should be interesting to see what happens. We'll also be trying to get some good offensive lineman along with some DL. We'll be very busy this offseason. Week 2 We start to recruit some players harder in hopes they'll sign soon. Week 3 We get two players this week, both at much needed positions. Players committing to Texas OLB Jerry Hester - Ranked #28 OG Chuck Williams - Ranked #69 I hope to get a few more this week. Maybe five or six would be good enough to make me happy ;) Week 4 We lose our shot at two of the kickers we were going after.. Damn it. We do get a QB though. Players committing to Texas QB Jeremy Largen - #25 Week 5 Ouch. A big hurt for us, we lose 10 scholarship offers to other schools and don't sign anybody. That hurts big time. We'll need a big week next week if we want to have a top 20 recruiting year.
 mauboy
Job Offers I was offered a few jobs, but all for bad bad schools.. I guess now I know what everyone thinks of me as a coach. 2018 Outlook We've got LOTS of money to spend with LOTS of scholarships to give. I'm going to have to work for a long time with my $130,000+ and 19 scholarships.. Whew!! We've lost both of our coach's on defense/offense, so we'll have to solve that problem firstly. Transfers Leaving We've had two players leave following offers from other schools, so we now have 21 scholarships to offer elsewhere! Wow! Round 1 Of Recruiting We're going after players that are rated in the top 250 in the country because there are so many that are interested, so it should be interesting!! mauboy
Depth Charts Our defense has improved quite a bit in the secondary and on the DL, so watch out!!!! In a surprising move, we're going to be starting a freshman at QB and RB! QB Johnson and RB Barno will be starters to start the year! If they start to show that they're not ready, I will not hesitate to bring in the previously named starters in Epps and RB Johnson. I just feel that the two guys I've named are my best options, so we'll see what happens as the season gets under way. mauboy
2018 Season We're going to be running a West Coast offense along with a 4-2-5 defense, something we haven't done in the past. God-awful! Woohoo. Five turnovers to their zero helps a little. mauboy
Week 2 - Maryland(1-0) @ Texas(0-1) - Maryland by a whopping 15 Well, we're in for a looonnng season if we start the year 0-2. It was a better game by us, and I'm not that upset.. it doesn't mean a whole lot, we've got conference games coming up soon. mauboy
Week 4 - #25Texas(0-2) @ Kansas State(2-1) - 19 point favorites = KSU We need a win big time, but this week will be a tough to win especially away from home. It was within reach!!! mauboy
Week 5 - Texas(0-3) @ #13 Oklahoma(4-0) - Sooners by 8 Well... We've had two close games this year, and one absolute blowout... maybe the fourth time is the charm? It better be as rumors are floating around that I may be fired if I lose another game in a row... *sigh* 1st Quarter We get the ball to start the game and we run run run run run then fake 'em out on third and short with a 54 yard bomb for a touchdown! 7-0! Eat it! Oklahoma answers back by telling us to eat it. Tied back up, 7-7. After two quick scores, both teams get one drive each in which we both punt it deep into our own territories, and that's where we're at as we start the second quarter, our ball. This game leaves everyone except one team in the South Conference with exactly one loss; Oklahoma State is the only team without a loss, we face them in week 11. mauboy
Week 6 - Texas(1-3) vs Iowa State(1-3) - Us by 6 Well, we need another win to stay in contention of anything... Poor kid. Everyone in the South has a loss now... mauboy
Week 7 vs Baylor Going to speed things up as it's a bad season.. i don't want to stick around for it too long if we're only going to win a few games.
We just didn't have a defense today. mauboy
Week 11 vs Miss St I'm just simming now to get this year over with.
