mauboy
Week 11 - Texas (3-5) vs Iowa State (4-4) - Us by 9 It should be a win for us as we have our running game in full effect. They shouldn't be able to stop us, but will I hold us bacK? 1st Quarter 3-0 as ISU converts all three 3rd and Longs until they were stopped and forced to kick a field goal. See above. 6-0 ISU. 2nd Quarter Our offense is still sputtering along, we just turned it over on downs after coming up short on 4th and 2 from the ISU 40 yard line. Sad sad. Finally, we go to the air a little deeper and it pays off as we get a gain of 58 followed by a 24 yard touchdown pass to Banaszak. 7-6. 3 minutes to go in the half. Our defense gets the ball back through the hands of FS Davis who intercepted it near midfield, just over two minutes to play in the half. We don't get anything going and we're forced to punt which is returned back to where we punted from.. :( ISU gets into the endzone quite easily to take the lead going into the half, well 30 seconds left, 13-7. We get the ball near midfield after a nice return on the kick. A 20 yard gain later and we try a 44 yard field goal. It's good! 13-10 at the half. Nice come back there. Pointer is pretty pointless right now, 11 carries 32 yards. WOohoo. 3rd Quarter Steve Sharpe comes up with an interception on defense, our second turnover forced. This one is in ISU territory, we need at least a field goal on this drive. We don't. They get a touchdown following our turnover on downs yet again at the 35 yard line.. Just can't convert. Jeez. 20-10 as ISU marches right down the field on our asses. We're able to get a field goal as time runs out in the third quarter. 20-13.. C'mon defense, another turnover would be nice. 4th Quarter Washington throws a pick DEEP in our territory and ISU scores quickly giving them a 14 point lead with 12 minutes to go. :( 27-13. Just when it seemed like the season was going to end right here, they missed a chip in field goal giving us life still with 6 minutes to go.. C'mon Washington, step it up now! We get no where.. punt. For some reason ISU went deep with less than three minutes to go and it worked I guess,54 yard touchdown pass and catch, 34-13 as they put us away finally. We just couldn't get moving AT ALL. We do suck. I'll be out of a job next season it looks like. Ugh. No bowl game for the first time in what, six years for me???? You think SDSU will take me back? lol
Iowa State: 34, Texas: 13 TEAM1Q2Q3Q4QOTFINAL Iowa State(5-4)67714034 Texas(3-6)01030013 Team StatisticsIASTTEX First Downs1920 Rushing23 Passing1617 Penalty10 3rd-down Efficiency9-194-17 4th-down Efficiency0-40-0 Total Net Yards474403 Total plays7685 Average gain6.24.7 Net Yards Rushing7015 Rushes4128 Average per rush1.70.5 Net Yards Passing404388 Completed-attempted20-3231-50 Yards per pass12.67.8 Sacked-yards lost3-157-44 Had intercepted21 Punts-average6-388-40.8 Return Yardage142134 Punts-returns5-331-2 Kickoffs-returns3-935-118 Interceptions-returns1-162-14 Penalties-yards7-605-66 Fumbles-lost1-02-0 Touchdowns41 Rushing00 Passing41 Extra Points4-41-1 Field Goals2-32-2 Red Zone Efficiency3-4-75%1-1-100% Time Of Possession29:5230:13 First Quarter IASTFG05:413-0Donnie Williams 43 YD IASTFG01:236-0Donnie Williams 37 YD Second Quarter TEXTD03:437-6Larry Banaszak 24 YD Pass from James Washington (Jeremy Friede Kick). mauboy
Week 12 - Texas vs #3 Oklahoma State (8-1) - Us by 15... huh... Well, if we want to savage this season, this is the game to win. Win and I feel better as a person, if we lose, I might go bury myself. 1st Quarter 3-0 early on, OkSt. 7-3, as it looks like Pointer is back from a crappy game last week. He gets about 26 yards on the ground during the drive including the touchdown run from two yards out. 2nd Quarter OkSt comes back later on and scores on a 54 yard touchdown RUN. Ouuuuuchh. I thought our DL was good. 10-7. Iwuoma, the RB for the Cowboys gets another homerun, 34 yards out to give 'em a 17-7 lead as we near halftime. Ouch, this kid is killin' us. I figure Pointer might want to try doing well so he can show he's the best, what does he do instead? Fumbles on his first carry. Enter: Johnson? Thankfully the score stays 17-7 as we go into half time as the Cowboys miss their short field goal. Pointer will need to step it up if he wants to play these last games of the year. Loser. 3rd Quarter The threat worked as he lead us down the field for three points. 17-10 Cowboys return the kick allll the way down to our 2 yard line! Aaargh. That doesn't matter as we force them for two losses in a row then PICK it off, first and ten now for us! Hahahh! We take advantage of the turnover, but only with three points to show for it. 17-13, thanks to a 64 yard catch from Ward. 20-13 as OkSt comes back with three of their own. 4th Quarter The Cowboys get the ball back immediately following Washington's interception, and they will score again...luckily only 3. The final score will be 26-13 as Oklahoma State's defense holds strong.. Ugh..

I'm still the head coach for the Texas Longhorns! Woohoo! Me so happy that I didn't lose the job that quickly. Our first job is to find a new coach's for every spot, DC, OC, and ST. Ouch. One of the coach's left for a head coaching job the others because of their greed. We get three decent assistant coach's, not top of the line, but good enough. Transfers We lose our Redshirt Freshman RB, Dorne Clarke to the Air Force! Ouuch. He was slated to be our full time back next season. It's sad to see him go!!! I should have paid more attention to his feelings, I guess. Recruiting We've got 16 scholarships to work with and $100,000+ to work with. It should be a good recruiting year for us.
 mauboy
Recruiting - Week One This week, as always, goes down quietly. Week Two Players committing to Texas FS Tommy Claridge - 15th rated player in the country. Week Three Sadly nothing this week. I wanted at least a player a week, but that's already ruined. Week Four During this week we didn't sign anybody and to make matters worse, DT Musso decided to go pro; he was the only one that was considering it too, so that sucks that we lost him. He'll be greatly missed and it may force us to go to a 3-4 defense, which I'm more comfortable with. Week Five How excited as we lose five players in which we had devoted lots of time and effort and scholarships into.. We sign nobody again. It must be my problem, I must stink at recruiting. Week Six We get back on track with things, but these are borderline players for a D-1 top school. FB Baker will be a nice addition though, the others will be no higher than 7, probably less, good potential backups though. We do however, lose NINE players that were offered scholarships. That really really really hurts. Players committing to Texas FB Kevin Baker ILB Eddie Stegent ILB Tim White Week Seven All right, our other safety position is now covered along with a future spot on the OLine. This puts our recruit total at six. ERrgh. We need like at least 6 more to please me. Players committing to Texas SS Terry Tatum OT Bob Nelsen Week Eight Ouch. Nothing this week. Week Nine Two more, nothing too impressive though. Looks like we're going to be struggling forever now, thanks to me. I can't seem to land any top offensive players, and since Clark transferred, we may be in trouble at RB next year, unless Johnson can prove he's full time material. These two give us eight on the recruiting season. This recruiting year might be worse than last years, which we were ranked 40 something in the country. Way better than I suspected at first. Only one five star player. Hmm. I'll take it, maybe I'm not doomed after all? Post Training and Comparisons to last year Maurice Robb, once a top recruit, will probably never set foot on the football field. His skills have really diminished! He had great potential(9), but now he's just average(6). We'll likely have to use Khori Epps as the QB this year, he was the back up last year and is okay. Pointer improved himself since last year; the only question is, will his injuries be a problem this year? I hope not! He looks mighty dangerous(8/10). WR Banaszak looks to be our top receiver(6/8) this year. The initial thoughts are that we'll be running a 4-3 defense this year, quite possibly a 5-2 with our defensive linemen, they're looking great even with the loss of Musso. Newly recruited WR Tom McCleskey(5/8) will be starting along side Ban-man. Pointer should have a great year. Epps should be able to do better than what Washington did last year, which wasn't much. Our receivers are improved. Our OL is tough with Carswell and Gault on the left side of the line. Calswell's player card is posted in the general discussions and may be a bug as I don't think he should be rated as a 1/9, but probably a 9/9. Anyhoo, we should be better than 4-7 this year. Wow wow wow. I guess they think really low of me. *cry* Well, this is pretty much the exact same team we faced last year, and we lost.. let's hope it doesn't happen again! 1st Quarter Boy am I glad I chose 5-2 defense.... UNC goes down the field quickly as they open up the game with a touchdown. Unreal. This defense sucks monkey testicles. 7-0. I've already decided to stay away from 5-2... *shivers* We'll go back with the 4-3/Nickel packages. The rest of the first quarter goes down quietly.. surprisingly, considering the start. 2nd Quarter With six minutes to go we nailed a field goal, but it was called back to a penalty, and then we missed the 40 yarder following the penalty. Yes! Great! Stays 7-0. We pick up our second turnover, this time an interception by CB Dudley.. THAT would be the half time score, 7-0! We had a shot when we got into goal line situation, but we were stuffed as we went for it on the two yard line.... heh.. Ah, well. Pointer has 23 carries for 73 yards so far. He's had some good runs, but more bad runs. He's been real inconsistent today. Hopefully that'll change in the second half. 3rd Quarter We open the half with a good drive, but it ends in a Pointer fumble.. Ugh! Just when things were starting to go right again. Midway through the 3rd, North Carolina gets another score, this one a field goal. 10-0. HALLEJULAH!!!! I don't know if that's how you spell it but I don't care, by golly we got into the endzone!! Pointer runs one in from 1 yard out. 10-7 as we begin the fourth quarter. 4th Quarter AaagaAHFHaaaas... 17-7 as UNC goes down the field on scores on our azzes after we turned it over on downs again this time from the UNC 35 yard line. 6 to play still.. but is that enough time? prolly not. We won't score for another three quarters. We're able to get a field goal with under two minutes to go.. All three timeouts left. Time to step it up big defense! We can't stop 'em on 3rd and 9 as they run for 21 yards to seal the victory as we lose to the Tar Heels for the second straight year..... .... I don't know what to say. LOL I asked Pointer to be more consistent in the second half...he was... sort of. He finished with 156 yards, but he just kept getting knocked back for 3-5 yard losses. I can't have that! That's what is killin' us big time. We need to get into the bye week with a win, if we can do that, me be happy. Then we've got our conference games, big ones too. 1st Quarter We punt from midfield on our first drive and Maryland takes it down a good part of the field to get a field goal. 3-0. 2nd Quarter Our drive that started in the first quarter ended in the 2nd quarter, totalling 7 minutes ends in a touchdown pass from Epps to Pointer. 7-3. The Terrapins counter with a field goal making it 7-6. Banaszak broke a few tackles and took our quick drive into the endzone from 52 yards out. 14-6 on the pass and catch for the touchdown. So far Pointer has been worthless, he has more carreis than yards so far. 9 for 8 yards. Ouch. That will be the halftime score, 14-6. Banaszak is having a great game so far, 5 catches for 128 yards so far. 3rd Quarter Chandler's sixth catch of the day is a 34 yard touchdown reception on 4th down! Nice! 21-6! Great game for the young Epps. Pointer sucks. He just fumbled it, which puts him at one fumble, 16 carries, 23 yards. Benched. Johnson in. 24-6 as we capitalize on an interception. Yay. 4th Quarter Maryland answers back with a touchdown, making it 24-13 early on in the fourth. The Terrapins score again following our punt. They also get the two point conversion making it 24-21 with two minutes to go in the game, they kicked it deep rather than onside kick, all three timeouts remain for them. Gain of 1, gain of 2... run again for Johnson, run of 7! First down, game over just like that..... well....pending a stupid turnover anyways. Johnson saves the day. 24-21 final score! Good games for Banaszak(nothing in the second half though), Epps, and OL Gault. Great games for Epps and Stackhouse(4 sacks on the year) coming right up!! This is the first time I've been over .500 as the Texas head coach since my FIRST win here, last season. Lets never get back at .500 or under again! 1st Quarter Pointer has already topped his total yards from last week! 26 yards on our opening drive that lead us to the 14 yard line where Epps connected with McCleskey for the touchdown! 7-0. A few possessions later, Colorado's option play turns into a 69 yard touchdown run! 7-7 as our defense comes up short on tackling... 2nd Quarter Colorado takes the lead with a field goal. 10-7 early on in the second quarter. The half will end as we continue to struggle, especially on the ground with Pointer. With limited carries Johnson ain't doin' so hot either. We just need to continue to take care of the ball, we've yet to turn it over, so that's good. We'll need to make a good defensive stop to start the second half. 10-7. 3rd Quarter Back and forth until Colorado puts together a short drive for three points. 13-7 as we're still unable to get anything going with 7 minutes to go in the third. Time for Pointer to break one long, I can feel it. Pointer comes out with a small injury, he'll stay in the game but as a backup to Johnson, i don't want to risk hurting him too badly. The drive stalls in Colorado territory, where we turned it over on downs. Ugh. The Buffaloes punted it to our two yard line where Johnson takes the first carry for 15 yards and while he was high on himself he was immediately brought back down to Earth as he fumbles it into the arms of the defense. Damn. Not good, the fourth quarter nears. 16-7 as Colorado gets no where on the drive but still in range for the FG. 4th Quarter We're driving driving and Epps throws a costly interception that is returned 78 yards for the touchdown, daaaaamn. 22-7 as they don't manage to get the 2. We get stalled again at midfield, then Colorado drives down the field and kicks a field goal which is thankfully blocked otehrwise it would have been a 3 possession game with 7 to go. Pass pass pass that's what Colorado does and they eventually get a fricken 58 yard touchdown on 2nd and 20 on their third play of the drive. Stupid. Game over at 29-7. That would be the final too, in a frustrating loss. It was within our reach we just could not take care of the ball and capitalize the drives! Ugh. Ugh. Yuck. Well, we can win if we play a good well-rounded game, but that hasn't really happened yet since I've been a coach. Pointer will be benched though for most of the game, he might see some action but not much as our coaching staff says to keep him off the field. They don't really have a dominant running back like they did last year, so we should be able to stop the run, but the passing might be a problem as it is against every single team we play. 1st Quarter So much for no running game, they ran the ball three times for 50 yards(a 32 yard touchdown run included). Ouch. 7-0 early on. We march right back down the field thanks to the legs of Johnson! 42 yards on five carries gives us a touchdown. 7-7! After a few exchanges of possessions, Oklahoma gets rolling again, this time they take advantage of our DB's and get a 40 yard touchdown strike. 14-7. Still five minutes to play in the first quarter. We get another drive moving but it stalls within the 10 yard line and we're forced to kick a field goal from 30 yards out eventually. 14-10... we're keeping right up with them offensively, so, this could be a good game. 2nd Quarter Oklahoma comes right back down the field and gets the three points back, 17-10. We were able to get moving down the field again, but it ends at the 20 yard line where Epps throws a pick. 24-10 as Oklahoma takes advantage of the turnover...... damn. Four and a half left to play in the half. Just when it seemed like the half was over, we intercepted it on the 40 yard line with over a minute to play. Here's another shot, since we get the ball to start the half, a score would be huge! We get a few nice gains of 8 and 15 where we now face 1st and 10 with 20 seconds to go at the 20 yard line.... Tough decision, take it easy or try for the TD? Try for the TD of course, we go to the air and complete it for a 15 yard gain, time out. We set up again and get into the endzone, and it's Johnson with his second TD of the day, this one a catch! 24-17 and we're back in it as we head into halftime! Johnson is having a great day, 80 yards rushing, two touchdowns..... woo! Keeping us in this one, that's for sure. 3rd Quarter We start off the second half moving the ball very well into Sooner territory until we get two false starts in a row moving us back to midfield... ugh... But on 3rd and 20, Epps and Banaszak connect for a 27 yard gain, first and ten!! We get another first down but it's not enough for us to get into the endzone, Banaszak had a costly drop that would have resulted in a TD.. it's 24-20 after another short field goal. Oklahoma nails a field goal with under four minutes to go to answer back our FG. 27-20. 4th Quarter 34-20 as the Sooners get another TD as they march down the field again... I think they've punted once, maybe twice today.. damn.. BUT, Epps and Co. don't think it's over as Epps connects with receivers all the way down the field for another touchdown, this one to Chandler! 34-27, 10 minutes to play yet. The big play of that drive was a Epps to TE Craft for 56 yards. Now the defense needs to step it up. We stop Oklahoma to a quick three and out, giving us the ball back on our 33 yard line after a booming punt, of course. At midfield we come up short on the biggest play of the game, which could cost us.. 4th and 1 at the 48 yard line and we come up short.. ouch! But the defense once again, comes up big with another three and out, thanks to a sack! 1st and 10 at our 14 yard line now. We don't get anything going and Oklahoma gets another touchdown, with four minutes to go they connect for another touchdown pass, this one 19 yards out. 41-27 Just when it looked like it wasn't over yet we go ahead and get called for two start penalties when we were once sitting on the ONE YARD line with over a minute to play; instead we have to run a few more plays to get into the endzone, which we do... 41-34 with under 30 seconds now.. Banaszak got the 13 yard touchdown catch on 4th and Goal. 41-34 final score as we keep right up with the #1 team in the country without our best player even. 39 of 62 Epps, 428 yards, 3 TD, 1 INT. Nice. We had to go away from the run game a little since Johnson hadn't been doing much, he had 103 yards on the day. I hope it's me. They're still talented, much like last year, so it should be interesting and tough for us. Pointer will get all the handoffs until he's tired as he's 100% healthy now. 1st Quarter We start out the game with the ball and we were moving very well until we had a touchdown called back due to a hold and that pushed us a little too far back for our kicker who came up short on the 47 yard field goal eventually. Damn. After a few nice defensive three and outs we eventually got great field position at the 26 yard line where we took a few plays to get into the endzone. Epps to McCleskey from 11 yards out, 7-0. Pointer comes up huge on our next drive... on 3rd and 23 we went to the air a little deeper and Pointer did a nice route right at the first down line where he caught it and got drilled making his helmet fly off. On the next play at the 44 yard line, he took the handoff and hit the hole with a full load of steam and took it to the hosue for a 44 yard touchdown run. 14-0. At this point, the first down score is 8-0. :) 2nd Quarter OkSt finally puts together a nice drive and gets in the endzone to make it a game again. 14-7. We come charging right back and RB Johnson is the one who caught the pass from Epps this time for the 12 yard touchdown pass and catch. 21-7. Just when I thought it would be halftime with under a minute to go, OkSt goes to the air from the own 6 yard line when they catch the ball but get drilled and fumble it into our arms at the 8 yard line. We'll get another shot at a score before halftime. TE Craft gets the next touchdown reception, this one from three yards out. 28-7! Holy cow! Texas football is back! 28-7 halftime it is! Epps 20 of 30, 230 yards, 3 TD. Those are end of game numbers, holy cow. 3rd Quarter We get the first points of the second as the end of the third quarter nears, 31-7 following the field goal. 4th Quarter OkSt got their first down of the second half as the quarter came to an end. LOL We get another three points to make it 34-7. 34-7 would be the final score as we absolutely demolished this Cowboys squad!! Wow! 21 of 33 for Epps, 3 TD passes while throwing for 242 yards. He just had three attempts in the second half. Pointer finished with a good game as well, 27 carries for 166 yards and a TD. Defensively, DT Glenn picked up two more sacks to put his total at 8 on the year! Stackhouse picked up one for his sixth of the year. We're still in the hunt for the conference championship as Oklahoma suffered a loss to Kansas State, so another loss and we win out would make things interesting, eh? :)
Texas: 34, Oklahoma State: 7 TEAM1Q2Q3Q4QOTFINAL Texas(3-3)141433034 Oklahoma State(2-4)070007 Team StatisticsTEXOKST First Downs2412 Rushing95 Passing146 Penalty11 3rd-down Efficiency12-216-16 4th-down Efficiency0-10-0 Total Net Yards444215 Total plays8366 Average gain5.33.3 Net Yards Rushing202108 Rushes4729 Average per rush4.33.7 Net Yards Passing242107 Completed-attempted21-3316-33 Yards per pass7.33.2 Sacked-yards lost3-174-7 Had intercepted01 Punts-average5-38.69-42.8 Return Yardage129171 Punts-returns6-671-11 Kickoffs-returns2-467-160 Interceptions-returns1-160-0 Penalties-yards7-556-50 Fumbles-lost1-01-1 Touchdowns41 Rushing10 Passing31 Extra Points4-41-1 Field Goals2-30-0 Red Zone Efficiency5-5-100%1-1-100% Time Of Possession35:4324:17 First Quarter TEXTD05:067-0Tom McCleskey 11 YD Pass from Khori Epps (David Smith Kick). We don't face anymore ranked teams the rest of the way, although I'm sure there are teams that are borderline, so it won't be a piece of cake. I really don't see how the Baylor defensive line will be able to stop our running game, so we should be able to get 200 yards with Pointer, no problem. 1st Quarter With about three minutes to go in the first quarter, we finally get a good enough drive together to get three points. It's been a scrappy up and down battle so far but we do get on the board first, 3-0 after a 36 yard field goal. 2nd Quarter Baylor answers back with a field goal of their own tying it up at 3. We get a shot again, but our kicker comes up short on the 44 yarder following a four yard sack.. damn.. Still 3-3 Pointer continues his fantastic game getting his 103rd yard on his 9 yard touchdown run. 10-3. Just under 7 minutes to play in the half. We end the half on a field goal from 24 yards out. We had a few shots to get into the endzone but we couldn't get in. 13-3. For the second half all we have to do is keep giving it to Pointer then soon enough Johnson will take over. Should be a relatively easy second half to operate. 3rd Quarter Just when it seemed like this game wasn't going to be a close one, Baylor punts it away and we fumble it on the return and Baylor picks it up and returns it 23 yards for the touchdown! Agh. 13-10. On the VERY next drive, a few plays later, Pointer gets nailed on a run play and fumbles it into the hands of Baylor; they return it 37 yards!!!!! But not for a touchdown, only 1st and Goal on the 4. Ugh! 17-13 after Baylor takes advantage of another turnover. What a turn around. As we close out the third quarter, nothing seems to be going our way as first downs and nice gains are all being called back to holdings and ineligible receivers... what is goin' on? lol 4th Quarter 20-13 as Baylor takes advantage of the unnecessary roughness penalty on the punt return. They just needed a few yards to get the field goal. We go to the air a little more and it starts to pay off until a pass gets deflected off the hands of a reciever and goes into the hands of Baylor! First down for Baylor deep in their own territory now. Ugh. We stay on the ground following a punt from Baylor that put us on our own 15 yard line and it pays off. We start with an 8 yard run then Pointer took the next handoff 77 yards for the touchdown as he sprinted down the sideline all by himself! Tied up! Thankk youuuuu! That's his second TD of the game. 20-20, over six minutes to play. Our next drive starts at the 13 yard line following a three and out from Baylor... Our drive stalls at our 39 yard line where we punt it with 2:30 to go. Baylor opens their drive up with a 19 yard run then a nice 25 yard pass.... UUUGH. Now where's our defense? They give up 175 yards up to this drive. Jeez. 1st and 10 at our 35 yard line. On 2nd and 10 they gain two more yards, one minute to go. 25 yard gain!! First down and we're finished it looks like! Hahahah.. They go to the air with thirty seconds and throw a pick to our safety, Dressler. Seriously... Yay! OT We open up the overtime period with a few nice runs from Pointer then a 7 yard touchdown pass to McCleskey. On defense, Dressler comes up with another interception that finishes the game! Well, thanks to the questionable CPU play calling we stayed alive and eventually won the game. 27-20. Pointer nearly had 250 yards rushing. Great game for the kid. We're now 4-3 and back into the mix of things sort of. We're tied for 2nd with Texas Tech who we play eventually. Texas Tech faces off at home with Oklahoma, and if they do upset 'em, there will be a three way tie for first and we'll still have a shot at a GDCS Bowl! How sweet(sad) would that be? We did however, lose WR Banaszak to Academics... C'mon kid. Oklahoma won their game, so no first place for us this week. Oklahoma does face some good teams yet, so who knows what'll happen! :)
 mauboy
Week 10 - Texas(4-3) @ Texas Tech(4-4) - Tech by 6 We'll need to really fight our hearts out to win this one.. We're 2-0 on the road this year, so we should win, right? :) Pointer should have another good game, maybe not as good as last week, but a good one still. 1st Quarter CB Phillip Steele comes up with an interception on the opening drive for TT. It'll be our ball on the TT 31 yard line already. Yipee. We don't get ANYTHING going, we actually lose about 5 yards on the drive and we turn it over on downs.. Nice. Texas Tech's drive ended up in a loss of about 20 yards thanks to a sack and running loss of two. Haha.. We're both in the negatives so far this game.. Ouch. Stackhouse's sack gives him the team lead with nine. He had two sacks last week to tie it up with DT Glenn. We finally get above positive yardage, but it's negated thanks to an Epps interception pass. Damn it. We were moving too, all the way to the TT 30 yard line. Pointer gets us on the board first. With over a minute to play in the first quarter we finally get on the board thanks to a 1 yard touchdown run by Pointer. 7-0! 2nd Quarter Most of the second quarter goes down quietly until with two minutes to go in the half, McCleskey hauled in a two yard pass from Epps for the touchdown. Six of the last seven carries for Pointer have been for a loss(as high as 7!!!), so we had to go to the air in that situation. 14-0! 1:30 left in the half as our defense heads back onto the field to hope to keep the Red Raiders under 30 yards for the half. Ugh. Our defense didn't show up for the end of the half as they completed three big pass plays in a row to put them into field goal position and they do knock it in as the half comes to an end. 14-3. Pointer's got 22 carries for 68 yards. We'll bring in Johnson some more in the second half. 3rd Quarter The third quarter goes down quietly, but TT is threatening as they convert the 3rd and 9 for a 25 yard gain to get into our territory as we head into the fourth quarter. Still 14-3. 4th Quarter We hold TT's drive to a field goal as they were moving along quite nicely. 14-6. I'm still pretty comfortable, especially the way the defense has played. As long as we can continue to get some first downs on offense, we should be fine! Ooh, no. We were going down the field like a machine until JOhnson came in and fumbled it on the TT 17 yard line!!! Ugh. 8:35 to go still. A field goal would have been huge there, but no, Johnson had to fumble on first down. I'm shocked at that! Wow. 5 plays, all pretty much 15 yards or greater for TT and they're in the endzone in a freakin' hurry. 14-12 as they fail the two point try. Under six minutes to go now. A 9 yard gain for Poitner is called back to a illegal crackback block that puts us on our own 10 yard line right away and on the next play Poitner fumbles it!! Seriously, there's code in this game to piss me off. 14-12, first and goal now for TT. IT takes one play for TT to get into the endzone, a three yard touchdown run to make it 18-14 as they fail again on the two. I don't know what to do anymore. LOL It's contagious! Epps throws an interception that results in a 27 yard return for a touchdown. Contagious is an understatement. 25-14 with under four minutes to go now. Holy ****. I cannot believe this ****. LOL 25-14 is the final score as we get nothing going beyond midfield. I just might cry. Pointer ended up with nearly 150 yards as we completely CHOKE it up. Whoa.. LOL.. We actually only lost 25-22. With over a minute left and the ball in TT's hands I clicked off call plays and let the rest of the week sim to find out that we score 8 more points miraculously. We recovered a fumble on the next play and return it 58 yards for the touchdown! So we had over a minute to go and I gave up on us! We didn't get the onside kick but were able to receive a punt which the clock ran out by the end of the play. Weird. 25-22 the final actually. If we actually came back and got the ball on the onside kick and miraculously scored again, I would have shat my pants. Hah. Ah, well. That lightened up my mood at least. Nice start. Kansas comes down the field and gets in range for the 45 yard field goal try which they nail to take a 3-0 lead early on. Kansas quickly gets the ball back on a fumble on the kickoff return, they get a big 3rd and Goal play from 13 yards out and get into the endzone. 10-0.... ugh not good 2nd Quarter FINALLY! Chandler and Epps make a connection from 17 yards out for the touchdown to bring is back into this one, 10-7, 8 to play in the half. Kansas answers back with a touchdown of their own with under 4 minutes to play. 17-7.. Fantastic defense! Epps leads the way down the field for our recievers and eventually Epps connects with Chandler once again in the end zone to make it a 17-14 game going into hafltime! Woot. 11 of 15, 215 yards, 2 TD for Epps. 3rd Quarter Kansas continues to play like the All-Stars they aren't, they start the half off with a good drive to make it 24-14. We fumble again on the return..... We hold them to -2 yards on their drive and they settle for a field goal. That would have been the game had they scored a touchdown. 27-14. Fullback Trejo takes advantage of touching the ball and he takes the catch from Epps and darts down the sideline 33 yards for the touchdown, making it 27-21. Hallejulah, a CB Steele interception on the first play gives us the ball back on our own 40 yard line following the bomb. The momentum is shifting too quickly for us. There's too much time left in the game for us to lose it... oh, well. Enjoy it while it lasts. I didn't enjoy it very long as Pointer gets decleated... I hope he's okay... he did fumble it; he seems very fumble prone this year.... oh, yeah, it's Kansas ball now too again. 35-21 as Kansas gets off a nice 30 yard run for a touchdown. Yeah, cuz that guy is greeaatt.. 4th Quarter We make it a seven point game with a fantastic drive led by a pissed off Liske, but it was Epps who connected with McCleskey from 11 yards out for his 4th TD pass of the game. 35-28 to start the 4th quarter. Whew, Kicker David Smith comes through with a field goal after RB Johnson couldn't do anything to help us out in the goal line situation. 35-31, 7 to play. Yeehaw, the defense wasn't stopping them but we made 'em turn it over on a fumble. 5:40 to play and we need at least a field goal here, then another later... I'd prefer a touchdown now though. Excellent, on 3rd and 10 Epps throws a pick giving Kansas the ball back on our 40 yard line. At least Kansas opened the drive up with an illegal crackback block putting 'em at their own 48 with 1st and 25 to go. Err.. Never mind. A 50 yard touchdown pass puts us away two plays later.. Oh. My. Lordy. Unreal. We really suck. I want my old SDSU players to come back, these guys are pitiful. 42-31 now. Less than 4 to play. Well, we're still alive as Epps hits Moore for 47 yards to put as within the 10 yard line and over two to play. Cool. WWWHEW! 4th and Goal on the 1 and we run it in with Pointer..... it looked like for a moment he wouldn't get in, but he did. 42-37 as too much time runs off(stupid play clock is so retarded in this game.. the touchdown play was after a play that went out of bounds, clock stopped at 1:37, but now as we kick off the onside kick there is 52 seconds left... lol love it). Onside kick: Unsuccessful.. We've got all three timeouts yet. We can't hold 'em, Kansas wins 42-38(why didn't I go for two? I wasn't thinking... lol... I was too steamed about the time clock) That's the kind of **** that makes me not want to keep playing all night. God. I can only stand it once a day at most. We move to 4-5. Awful. ISU comes back down the field to tie it up at 3 before the first quarter comes to an end. 2nd Quarter Pointer gets some more scoring going with a 1 yard touchdown run. 10-3. Iowa State nails a 51 yard field goal with under a minute to play in the half to make it 10-6. A silly fumble by Epps allows ISU to get the ball back and get into the endzone three plays later, 13-10, Cyclones lead. 3rd Quarter Nothing happens in the 3rd quarter except about three or four missed field goals! 13-10 still. 4th Quarter We get the ball back with over six minutes to play at our 20 yard line. We move the ball down the field nicely and we currently face a 3rd and 7 at the ISU 31 yard line. We need a few more yards if we want to kick a field goal. Anything over 40 is going to be missed, almost gauranteed. The 3rd down play ends in an incomplete pass forcing us to kick a field goal... a 49 yarder it looks to be. And waddya know, David Smith kicks it wide left. Still over two minutes to go for our defense. After three defensive plays, we get the ball back following a 29 yard punt and a return of 8. Over 1 minute to go and we've got the ball on our own 43 yard line! Good field position at least. Lets see if Epps can lead us to at least a tie. We start the drive with a 9 yard screen play, under a minute to go now. And with 37 seconds to go we're facing quite possibly the last play of the game, 4th and 1 on the 48 yard line of ISU.... The snap.. play action pass... everyone is curling, Moore breaks loose down the field, Epps tosses to him in stride! Moore catches it and sprints to the end zone untouched! TOUCHDOWN! THAT will be the ball game and we finally eek out a victory in a close game! 17-13 final score. Woot. Nobody offensively except WR Moore had a good game. Pointer sucked, Epps sucked.. Defensively we were able to hold ISU to 0 points in the second half and we can play 7 of the first half points on Epps.. So, good game defensively, I'm proud of those boys... After this game they're ranked 8th in the country defensively, so we're doing at least one thing right. I'm trying to keep a reasonable pace until 1.1 comes out. Thanks for continuing to read! Week 14 - Texas A&M(4-6) vs Texas(5-5) - Us by 10 Well, A&M could do a lot of damage to us with this game. If they beat us, we don't go to a bowl, if we win, we're in..Simple as that. We'll be playing once again without Banaszak who's out due to bad grades.. I didn't mention it before because of my laziness. Anyhoo! Lets win this one! 1st Quarter We start out the game slowly, going three and out. But so does A&M, except worse.. They get sacked for 11 yards, then run for nothing then get picked off and we return it 36 yards to give us the ball in A&M territory. We get on the board with a 15 yard touchdown pass to McCleskey! 7-0. On the next drive for A&M they don't do much better than last time other than two first downs. They give us the ball back after another interception. Chandler is the next reciever to get a touchdown catch from Epps, making it 14-0 with 5 to play in the first quarter. The shut out didn't last much longer as A&M gets into the end zone on a 4 yard reverse run. 14-7 as we near the start of the second quarter. 2nd Quarter Pointer gets the ball rolling again as he breaks open a nice 26 yard run for a touchdown, making it 21-7 early on in the second quarter. After the next drive we have to sit Pointer out a little bit due to another injury.. so Johnson will see the field for most of the game here on out. Kicker David Smith was able to capitalize on our defense's third interception, making it 24-7 as we head into halftime. We actually get another pick before the half, making it our fourth on the day and half. Things are looking up! Bowl Bound? 3rd Quarter The Aggies start the half by getting three points back, making it 24-10. We answer that field goal with one of our own, 27-10 as we get back up by three scores. Four minutes left in the third. 4th Quarter The rest of the game goes down quietly as our defense continue to step it up with big stops every single time it seemed. Whoever we play in the bowl game will have a very tough time with our defense, I can say that much. We finish the year 6-5, and 4-4 in conference play. Next season should show some improvement as well!! HOPEFULLY! Now lets move onto next year so I can find out if I'm coming back... I'm skeered.

mauboy
2017 Offseason Well!
Players committing to Texas WR Tom McCleskey DT David Thompson Week Ten Players committing to Texas CB Korey Dudley RB Charley Kerrigan OLB Dennis Whisenhunt
mauboy
Not a very impressive class if you ask me. But hopefully they'll prove me wrong in a few years!!! I hope so, for my job's sake. mauboy
The Recruiting Magazine came out today and they've listed us as the #15 recruiting class in the country. Newly recruited WR Tom McCleskey(5/8) will be starting along side Ban-man.

mauboy
Depth Charts It looks like we've improved a tiny bit offensively. Anyhoo, we should be better than 4-7 this year. mauboy
Week 1 - UNC @ Texas I honestly cannot believe we didn't start the season ranked. That's what is killin' us big time. mauboy
Week 3 - Maryland(2-0) @ Texas (1-1) - Even Well, we need to make a statement now so we can get ourselves back into the top 25, and this seems like a good team to do it against. Good games for Banaszak(nothing in the second half though), Epps, and OL Gault. mauboy
Week 5 - #23 Colorado(2-1) @ Texas (2-1) - Buffs by 6 This is going to be a huge battle, I can feel it already. Ugh. Ugh. Yuck. mauboy
Week 6 - Texas(2-2) vs #1 Oklahoma (4-0) - Sooners by 14! Nice. We had to go away from the run game a little since Johnson hadn't been doing much, he had 103 yards on the day. mauboy
Week 7 - Texas(2-3) @ Oklahoma State (2-3) - OkSt by 6 We're both looking for our first conference wins, so after this one one of this will have had that happen... :)
Texas: 34, Oklahoma State: 7 TEAM1Q2Q3Q4QOTFINAL Texas(3-3)141433034 Oklahoma State(2-4)070007 Team StatisticsTEXOKST First Downs2412 Rushing95 Passing146 Penalty11 3rd-down Efficiency12-216-16 4th-down Efficiency0-10-0 Total Net Yards444215 Total plays8366 Average gain5.33.3 Net Yards Rushing202108 Rushes4729 Average per rush4.33.7 Net Yards Passing242107 Completed-attempted21-3316-33 Yards per pass7.33.2 Sacked-yards lost3-174-7 Had intercepted01 Punts-average5-38.69-42.8 Return Yardage129171 Punts-returns6-671-11 Kickoffs-returns2-467-160 Interceptions-returns1-160-0 Penalties-yards7-556-50 Fumbles-lost1-01-1 Touchdowns41 Rushing10 Passing31 Extra Points4-41-1 Field Goals2-30-0 Red Zone Efficiency5-5-100%1-1-100% Time Of Possession35:4324:17 First Quarter TEXTD05:067-0Tom McCleskey 11 YD Pass from Khori Epps (David Smith Kick). mauboy
Week 8 - Texas(3-3) @ Baylor(2-5) - Us by 18 This game is huge for us once again, it will help us gain some momentum before we go into the bye week. We're tied for 2nd with Texas Tech who we play eventually. mauboy
Week 9 It's a big week of football.
Hah. Ah, well. That lightened up my mood at least. mauboy
Week 11 - Texas(4-4) @ Kansas(5-4) - Us by 9 We open up the game with the ball but we turn it over on downs thanks to the clumsiness of Pointer who tripped on the grass on 4th and 1 to lose 3 yards at the Kansas 33 yard line. Awful. mauboy
Week 12 - Iowa State (4-5) vs Texas (4-5) - Us by 16.. yeah right 1st Quarter We get a 3-0 lead with 4 minutes to go in the first quarter. After this game they're ranked 8th in the country defensively, so we're doing at least one thing right. mauboy
Sorry about the slow updates guys. HOPEFULLY!
