Week 3 vs 0-2 Idaho - Aztecs by 8 Wow! Both Rogers and Coleman get their grades up high enough to play football for at least another 3 weeks! I'm so happy. We do lose our sure-handed receiver in Blount for a while though as he couldn't get his grades up high enough. We should easily win this ball game, much like the NMSU game, possibly by more than that one though. We are getting injured quite a bit though on defensive side. Everyone is fine to play, but they probably shouldn't, our coaches say. So I bench most of them knowing that weshould be fine without 'em. 1st Quarter TE Alston burns the Idaho secondary and scores on a 52 yard touchdown pass from Coleman. 6-0 with early on as Bernard misses the extra point....fantastic. After 6 carries from Rogers, we decide it's best to bench him for Monroe or Graham. Rogers has 3 yards on those six carries, awesome! The secondary showing that they suck as they give up a 59 yard touchdown pass on a pass defense play... buncha losers they are. 7-6 as we near the end of the 1st quarter. I've also brought back in Rogers as Graham is unable to do anything with three carries. Must be the OL. I'll have to look into that after this game before we run into a good Utah team 2nd Quarter At least we have Coleman to break some runs, he's got 2 runs for 24 yards so far, while the rest of the backs have 2 yards!!! TWO yards on 10 carries. Whigham gets a touchdown catch from Coleman to make it 13-7. Coleman is 7 of 8 for 98 yards already. Smashin'. Coleman gets another shot quickly after an interception by the Aztec defense. It takes him two tries, the first one being an incomplete pass. The second pass was a completion to Hudson for a 38 yard touchdown pass and catch! Booyah! 20-7. Still 10 minutes to play in the half. After running the ball five times during our next drive and gaining a mere 2 yards, we decide to just let Coleman take over the game by himself..and he does. He gets his fourth touchdown pass of the game, this one from 27 yards out to MacPherson. Each of his touchdowns have all been to different receivers. Very impressive. 27-7. 6 minutes to go in the half. Idaho answers back with a mighty 26 yard field goal. 27-10 with a few minutes to play in the half. We get the ball to midfield where the clock runs out for the half.. Coleman having a decent game...16 of 21(3 misses coming on the last 2 minute offense drive) for 241 yards and 4 touchdown passes. Yowza! Rogers having an excellent game...getting eaten up, 11 carries for 2 yards and Graham 3 carries for 0 yards. I don't know what the matter is, it's weird. 3rd Quarter After getting a punt, Rogers gets his longest run of the day... four yards! Then six yards! But then he went back to the 0's twice setting up a 3rd and long which Coleman couldn't connect to anybody forcing us to punt. Yay. We give Monroe a shot to get some yards and he takes advantage of the oppurtunity. Getting 3 carries for 15 yards to lead the the backs in yards for the game. But Coleman steals the show gaining 19 more yards on the ground putting him int he lead with 6 carries for 52 yards. We get deep into Idaho territory and eventually eventually kick a field goal on 4th n goal. 30-10. Monroe continued to take advantage of his touches, getting 2 more carries for 26 yards putting him at 41 yards on the game. Finally some sort of life in our running game. 4th Quarter We win 30-10 as nothing happens for the rest of the game, except on our last drive, Monroe and Graham came to life gaining lots of yards on the ground. It was strange. Coleman finished 24/34 with 308 yards passing, 4 TDs, 1 INT. Rogers-15 carries 12 yards. Graham-7 carries 35 yards Monroe-13 carries 57 yards Coleman-6 carries 52 yards Not an awful running day as a whole when you put them all together, but that's only thanks to Coleman. It WAS an awful running day, we'll need to step it up big time against Utah next week. We move to a healthy 3-0 as we play Utah at our house next week.

Week Four vs 2-1 Utah - Utes faves by 19 Utah suffered a heartbreaking loss last weekend against now 3-0 Tennessee. I'm skerred. We've got the 48th best offense, and 28th best defense. Hopefully Coleman can keep us close in this game as we open the conference season up with Utah. Our offense will have some problems as Utah has some good pass rushers and run-stoppers. They also have a good linebacking corps along with a stellar secondary. Definitely one of the better Utah defenses I've seen in my coaching tenure. This also may be the best offense we've ever faced. Utah still has Sylvester Smith who ate us up last year. They don't have a great QB, but they don't need one with the receivers and linemen they have. Hopefully we can hold these guys and come up with some big defensive plays! 1st Quarter We get the ball and go to the air quickly, getting 8 yards on the first play. Hudson catches the second pass and breaks a tackle and shoots down the field for a 64 yard touchdown!! 7-0 within in a minute! The extra point was deflected, but still made it through(cool that the pbp says that). We're able to hold Utah to 3 points after Smith ran down the field all over our arses. We were able to come up with a big sack from True Freshman Hampton, his second on the season. That made it 3rd and long for Utah which they gained some yards to get into field goal territory again making a 49 yarder. 7-3. We get near midfield before being held to a one yard gain on 3rd and 4 forcing us to punt. The punt is downed at the 21 yard line after a weak 34 yard punt. 9 minutes to play in the 1st quarter still. After some nice running, Utah for some reason goes back to the air where they get sacked by SS Wynn for an 11 yard loss, making it 2nd and 21 now. Woohoo. They don't get a first down and punt it back to us, 55 yard punt downed on our 3 yard line. Dang. We run it for the first time in the game and Rogers gets the pitch and takes it six yards before he gets tackled. 2nd and 4. After one first down we have to punt it and Utah gets the ball back at mid field with 4 minutes to go in the 1st still. Sheesh. Long first quarter...or maybe just a lot of typing :) After a huge 3rd down conversion for Utah, they get into the endzone to take a 10-7 lead as we near the end of the 1st quarter. 2nd Quarter Oooh, boo-hoo! We complete a nice pass for 35 yards before Whigham fumbled it to Utah who picked it up and ran it back for a touchdown, 76 yards out! 17-7 just like that. Damn! Utah gets the ball back again and zips right down the field for another touchdown. 24-7. Utah has every single bit of momentum going for them right now. The Aztec crowd is no where to be found with 9 minutes to play in the half. How sad is this? We get the ball way down into Utah red zone where we failed to get any points as we go for it on 4th and Goal from the 2. We get stuffed and turn it over on downs. Man. I can't do ANYTHING! Coleman is doing everything he can do, he's having a great game except he's not coming up with the BIG play except the 2nd play of the game. The defense finally makes a stop giving us the ball with just over two minutes to play in the half. Ball on our 35 yard line. We have a fourth down and one near midfield, and we FAKE it for the first down! That's the way to do it, eh? 1st and 10 at the Utah 45 yard line with under a minute to play. At the half we're outgaining Utah 240-216, 26 of those Utah yards came in the last second of the half when they decided to go deep, deep in their own field. Ah, well. 24-7 at the half with Utah getting the ball to start it off. Coleman 16/26 for 221 yards, 1 TD, no picks. He's doing all he can to keep us in it, but it's not enough as Rogers can't do much with the running game, running 9 times for 15 yards. 3rd Quarter 31-7 as Utah gets on the board quickly to start the 2nd half. Ouch. Utah is just too good this year for us to beat 'em. We're just not talented enough. We get something going but have to settle for a field goal making it 31-10. Utah really sticking the dagger in us as they go for it on 4th and 3 at mid field and get it. *sigh* Again, they twist the dagger as they convert a 3rd and 16... We were able to hold them on the 13 yard line to force a field goal...which they missed! Woohoo, some momentum with 5 minutes left in the 3rd. What a drive for Coleman!!! Connecting with his receivers all the way down the field, throwing it 13 times for 87 yards in all as we use up all but one minute in the 3rd quarter to bring it back within 14 points. Coleman connected with TE Alston from 10 yards out for the touchdown! 31-17. Coleman 28/41 for 348 yards, 2 Tds! 4th Quarter Utah gets great field position after the return, our 45 yard line. How dissappointing as we needed to play big on special teams, but we haven't all game as they've been getting nice returns nearly every time. LB Paul Smith takes advantage of a bad throw, he picks it off and returns it 10 yards to give us 1st and 10 on our 30 yard line! We blitzed 'em, but stayed in a mid zone defense, hah. Eat it, baby! We get to the Utah 34 yard line where we face a decision...a 52 yard field goal, or go for it on 4th and 7... Damn. I just can't kick it.. We go for it I say! We come up a few yards short on the short pass to Hudson. Damn. Utah ball. We're able to stop Utah with 10 minutes to go giving us the ball back on our 12 yard line. We punt after not gaining any yards on 3rd and 2 as Coleman had to scramble...He gained 0 yards on the scramble, what a little jerkabee! :) Our ball two minutes later as we force a quick 3 and out where Utah passed it 3 times. Nice. Our ball on our 45 yard line, good field position thanks to a 33 yard return by Houston. Nooo! More horrible luck! We just seem to get every ounce of bad luck in our close games. We get the ball to the 25 yard line of Utah and gain 15 yards for the first down before Houston fumbles it into the arms of Utah. Stays 31-17 with four minutes to go. We needed that, and that basically wraps it up for Utah. Damn damn. Utah goes pass crazy with the time under four minutes and take advantage of our blitz rushing linebackers as they get into field goal position and nail a 47 yarder after they finally started running the ball. They officially wrap it up with that FG, 34-17. It is over, 34-17 as Coleman threw a few incomplete passes in Utah territory to end it. Quite the effort by our All American Quarterback, showing that he is indeed worth that title. Throwing it nearly 70 times in the game and nearly gaining 500 yards, he just put all he could into this game and came up short still thanks to the receivers fumbling. Coleman - 38 of 64, 473 yards, 2 TDs, no INTs. Each receiver had a drop today, with a few of them getting two drops. If we catch half of those passes we get at least another TD. We completely abandoned the running game because I knew Coleman would be able to carry the load on his own, and also because Rogers wasn't doing jack ****. 11 carries for 18 yards for Rogers. Coleman was second in the nation in pass yards, I suspect he'll be #1 after this affair. We outgained Utah 497 to 428 and held the great running back to 107 yards on 28 carries. I'm quite happy with that, but we just couldn't come up with the stops early on in the game. The game was much closer than the score showed, we were so close to pulling within 7 points... And it seems like it never pays off for me to go for it within the 2 yard line on 4th down, so I think I'll never go for it again and just get the 3 points instead. I would have kicked the 51 yarder then to hope to pull within 8, but it didn't work out that way. We're now 3-1 after that loss. It was a fun game to play despite the loss. We almost we able to rally for the win. Utah is just too damned talented.

Week 5 We get a nicely timed bye week. Coleman was indeed the nation's leading passer with nearly 1400 yards through four games. Utah takes a huge loss to BYU, leaving the window open for us to still get first place in the conference if we can win our games! Nice! But we've got probably our 2nd toughest challenge of the year against a good Air Force team. TCU will be a tough one as well, but not as much as this next one I imagine. For Week 6, we get back Blount, which will help a little with the drops as Blount has the best hands on the team.

Week 6 @ 3-1 Air Force - AF faves by 10 Our offense matches up well with the AF defense. We should definitely be able to gain some yards again this week with Coleman throwing the ball. Rogers will need a good game if he wants to continue to be the starter. Defensively, we should not have any problem stopping them...but who knows what'll happen with the luck we have. 1st Quarter After the receiver fell down, the Air Force defense picked off a Coleman pass and returned it 19 yards to our 7 yard line. Not a good start. 1 play, touchdown. 7-0 Air Force. After some nice running by Rogers, Coleman throws his 2nd pick of the afternoon! Oooh, boy. What's going on kid? Rogers has 5 rushes, 54 yards(45 yard run too). A pathetic defensive effort as AF goes down the field 75 yards where they kick a field goal making it 10-0. At least we held them deep in our territory, eh. After punting it we finally force a 3 and out on defense! Yay! Rogers making a good case in letting Coleman take over the game like two weeks ago against Utah. Rogers fumbles it on our side of the field. Our 3rd turnover in the 1st quarter alone! Unreal. KIRK WYNN! Next play for Air Force is picked off and returned 73 yards for the touchdown! 10-7! Thank You Lord! 2nd Quarter Our defense comes back to Earth as they allow AF to move down the field with ease once again... but the defense holds their ground as AF goes for it on 4th n 2 on the 8 yard line. They gained ONE yard on a short pass, 1st down AZTECS! Air Force gets the ball back after exchanging possessions a few times. They take it down the field for another touchdown making it 17-7 with 7 minutes to go in the half. We coem right back with a TD as well! Houston catches one from 8 yards out from Coleman on 3rd down and goal. 17-14 with just over three minutes left in the half. Coleman finally turning his horrible performance into something nearly respectable. AF moves down the field into our side of the field where they punt it to our 4 yard line. Ouch. Just over a minute and a half to go. Rogers busts open a big run on 1st and 12(false start), 46 yard run! Giving him over 100 yards on the day, thanks to two nice runs in the half. Now we've got some time to get into the end zone, over a minute to play still in the half. We don't get anything going as we punt it with under a minute to go. Air Force plays it stupid and goes to the air where Abramowicz nails the receiver as he catches it and forces a fumble. 1st down with 38 seconds to go on the 17 yard line of AF. We need ONE play. Blount gets into the endzone after catching it from Coleman, 17 yards out! 21-17 as we go into the half!! This game looks to be a repeat of that game a few years back where it was like 53-47 as a final... I can't remember.. heh Coleman having a decent game now after throwing two picks. 13/23, 144 yards, 2 TDs, 2 INTS. Rogers, 12 rushes, 108 yards. 3rd Quarter With six minutes to play in the 3rd, we finally make something happen as we pick of an Air Force pass in their territory. 1st and 10 for us on their 42 yard line. Despite his good numbers as a receiver, I think Alston just made his last start of the season as he made his second penalty of the game and at least fourth of the season. Every penalty he makes always brings back a nice gain for us. So, after this game, the TE, Alston won't be starting again, but backing up a Freshman perhaps. With no time left in the 3rd Quarter, Air Force finally gets the scoring started in the 2nd half as they kick a field goal to make it 21-20 as we start the 4th quarter. 4th Quarter Coleman starting to get ice cold as he keeps throwing incomplete passes giving Air Force the ball back. We're able to hold AF at midfield, forcing them to punt it back to us to the THREE yard line. Yikes. On 3rd and 10 Coleman had to break it outside away from the defense and he heaved it down the field to MacPherson for a 42 yard gain. Whew! We then lose two yards on 3 plays and punt it away. 3 and out for AF. A 33 yard run by Rogers gets us into Force territory, the 31 yard line. Nice run, his third big run of the game. Looks like he may be back, huh? We come up short on the run on 3rd and 2 forcing us to kick a 41 yard field goal, which Bernard hits. 24-20 with five minutes to go in the game. We force the Cougars to punt it after they couldn't convert the 3rd and 6. Just over three minutes to play after a 54 yard field goal from AF to our 27 yard line. We go three and out and punt it back to AF with under two minutes left in the ball game. The return is fumbled, but Air Force gets it back on their 31 yard line. 1:28 left in the game for them to go the length of the field for the must need touchdown. Incomplete. Incomplete. 4 yard scramble. 4th and 6! INCOMPLETE! Our ball! Still some time for Air Force though as they have three timeouts. 3 plays, no yards forces us to make a decision... a 52 yard field goal or a punt that will likely be kicked into the end zone. Field goal attempt is...GOOD!!! 7 point lead with 30 seconds to go. Not enough time for the Cougars as we win it 27-20!!! Nice win for us, 4-1 now on the season. It was a pretty piss poor game for Coleman, but a good performance by Rogers. 27 rushes for 156 yards for Rogers, and Coleman was 16/35 199 yards, 2 TDs, 2 INTs.

Week 7 @ 3-2 TCU - TCU faves by 16 TCU is better offensively than AF is, but not by much. Their defense is about the same as AF, so it could be another great game ahead of us(Much like the USC-Texas game that is on right now as I do this dynasty). A win may put us into the Top 25 as we're getting plenty of votes from the Media and Coaches polls. Just like last season, we'll have to stop RB Beckham if we want to win this one. 1st Quarter After a fumble by TCU we take advantage of the TO and Coleman comes up with a 10 yard QB keeper for the touchdown! 7-0 early on. We are able to get the ball back on our 15 yard line as we force TCU to punt! Let's go "O". We punt it back, but the Frogs give it back as FS VanWagner comes up with an interception at our 45 yard line! MacPherson pulls in a pass on a fade route and runs it 33 yards for the touchdown! 14-0! Coleman's 2nd TD on the day, 1 running and 1 passing. 2nd Quarter TCU faces a critical 4th and 2 at our 28 yard line. They chose to go for it and they were DENIED as they throw an incomplete pass. Another score would be huge as they'd have to go to the air more thus giving the ball less to their best player, Beckham. Rogers took the first handoff for 72 yards for the touchdown, but freshman TE Dodrill gets called for a penalty bringing back the long play! Ouch! No matter who I play at TE, I'm screwed. Time to just bring back in the better TE then. lol We don't get any scoring done as we take it all the way to the 36 yard line where we turned it over on downs after not converting 4th and 5. Our ball after TCU punts it to our 3 yard line. Let's get a 97 yard drive, yeah? On a WR screen, Coleman throws a pick giving TCU the ball on our 12 yard line. Owza. TCU needs one play to get into the endzone with a 12 yard pass. 14-7 with 7 to go in the half. Alston just got himself benched again as he FUMBLED the ball on our first play on the next drive. TCU ball again on our 12 yard line, again. We play tough defense and hold them to three. 14-10 with 5 to go in the half. TCU got the ball back to midfield before punting it back to us with two minutes to play. We got into TCU territory but punted away eventually to end the half. 14-10, Aztec lead! Coleman is 17/27 for 154 yards with a TD and pick. Rogers has 7 carries for a minimal 2 yards. Woot. 3rd Quarter The defense comes up huge as TCU had 1st and Goal, the Frogs get 3 points. 14-13 with 8 minutes to go in the 3rd. AGH! A 65 yard touchdown pass is called back due to a holding penatly on the Center, Karcher. Pity as we punt it two plays later. We punt away and TCU fumbles it into the hands of LB Beebe! 28 yard line 1st and 10 for us! Another nice gain is called back due to a hold by Ezerins this time. Sheesh! Our 6th penalty on the day. We get some yards anyways as we overcome 3rd and 19 with a 20 yard pass play! It was a short pass play just to get back into field goal range, but Houston broke a tackle and got the 1st. We're on the 1 yard line with 3rd and Goal. We run the ball with Rogers to the inside and he gets stuffed for a loss of 2. Field goal unit comes on. 17-13 with a few minutes to go in the 3rd. We hold TCU on their drive and they punt it to the 4 yard line where it's downed for us. 4th Quarter Coleman throws a couple nice passes and gets a nice 20 yard QB keeper to get us to midfield for a 1st down. We don't get much more and are forced to punt, and we do, 1st down for TCU at their 9 yard line. 13 minutes left. TCU takes it all the way down to our 35 yard line where they punt it into the endzone. Whew. I was sick of starting within our 10 yard line. Coleman keeps throwing the ball very well, 13 of 15 in the 2nd half so far, but he can't get us a 1st down on 3rd and 6 as we come up 2 yards short at the 50 yard line. Punt to the 18 yard line following a crap punt of 32 yards. Over six minutes to play in the ball game. 17-13 still. TCU moves down the field smoothly and are currently at our 21 yard line facing a 2nd and 10 with 3:28 on the clock. Ugh. 21 yard touchdown catch for TCU to give them the 20-17 lead! Eeks. 3 minutes to play in the game. Time for Coleman to step it up big. Coleman tries to do too much as he fumbles the ball and TCU has it with under two minutes to go on our 34 yard line. Three timeouts won't be enough to get us back the ball I'm guessing. Too much field to work with. We are able to hold them to a 3 and out and a putn thanks to a loss on a run. 1st and 10 at the 20 yard line followin ga punt into the end zone. 1:01 on the clock still. C'mon now Colezy! We can't get into field goal position and we lose the thriller. *(%^@*$%&(*^@#$5! Gosh! 4-2 now. What a bummer loss. 33-48, 259, 1 TD, 1 INT for Coleman. Ugh, I'm so displeased right now. But we should be able to win the rest of the conference games, no problem. Well, maybe BYU will be aproblem, but that's it.

Week 8 at 0-5 Wyoming - We're favories by 14 This game will get us back on track, no problem. No need to have a pre-game talk about it as we should mutilate 'em. 1st Quarter Bernard gets 3 as we take advantage of the opening kick fumble by Wyoming. 3-0 very early on. The first play for Wyoming is picked off by Wynn! Oopsie daisies. Coleman and Rogers lead the way down the field for a touchdown, making it 10-0. Coleman to Rogers from 1 yard out for the TD. Bernard nails another field goal as the 1st quarter nearly comes to an end, 13-0. 2nd Quarter VanWagner gets an interception and takes it all the way for the touchdown from 71 yards out! 20-0! Ouch. Whigham recieves a pass from Coleman on 3rd and Goal from 4 yards out for the touchdown. 27-0. 34-0 as Coleman gets another touchdown pass, this one to Blount. We're not gaining a lot of yards, we're just getting good field position. 34-0 at the half. We're outgaining Wyoming 215 to 105 at the half. The WYO QB is 1 for 12 for 5 yards. Rogers can't do a whole lot on the ground, 16 carries for 48 yards. He should reach 100 yards on the game eventually, as we'll run it more in teh 2nd half. 3rd Quarter VanWagner gets his 2nd pick of the game giving us the ball at mid field with a few minutes left in the 3rd quarter.. Rogers breaks a nice 18 yard run for the touchdown. 41-0 with a minute left in the 3rd. I wasn't trying to score on a pass, just wanted the first down on a quick out, but Rogers broke a few tackles after receiving a pass on a hook route taking it 32 yards for the touchdown. 48-0. That is Coleman's 4th TD of the game. Wyoming answers back with three plays(68 yard run) and a 1 yard touchdown run to make it 48-7. A safety makes it 50-7 with three minutes in the ball game. That would be the end of the massacre of Wyoming. 50-7 as Coleman throws 4 TD passes after going 25/31 for 246 yards. He was very efficient today. Rogers was relatively innefficient as he had lots of carries for not so many yards. 42 carries for 92 yards. The Wyoming QB's combined for 4 of 26 for 98 yards. 93 of those yards came in the final 6 minutes of the game! They were 1 for 20 before they finally started to 'turn it on'. We outgained this Cowboy squad 394 to 224.

Week 9 vs 5-2(4-0) BYU - We're faves by 6 We need to beat BYU to stay in the hunt for 1st place. TCU is also 4-0 though, so our chances are nearly gone anyways. Air Force will try to upset TCU this week. BYU isn't that great, but they've got a great win against a great Utah team, so we won't take this game lightly at all. Backup RB, Graham is out for the game due to grades. BYU does have two good defensive players, otherwise they're quite comparable to us. The offense, we'll have to stop their decent running attack, they don't have anyone too special, just a decent line to pave the way for Bobby Reese. 1st Quarter Coleman leads us down the field for 71 yards before having to turn it over to Bernard for a 27 yard field goal. 3-0 BYU takes advantage of good field position and get the lead with a touchdown. 7-3. True Freshman DE Johnny Hampton comes up with a big sack for a 13 yard loss sending BYU to punt as the 1st quarter comes to an end. 2nd Quarter Cecil Coleman gets the QB draw call from 3 yards out and gets into the endzone for six. 10-7. This drive was led by Rogers who had a few carries for 55 yards, including a 43 yard run. BYU answers back with a touchdown taking the lead back to make it 14-10 with 8 minutes to play in the half. BYU gets another score, this time a field goal to make it 17-10 with a few minutes to play in the half. The rest of the half would go quietly as BYU has the 17-10 lead going into halftime. We cannot stop the run...at all. They've got 17 carries for 120 yards already. It's pretty pathetic. We'll need to open up more holes for Rogers otherwise we're in for a long 2nd half. 3rd Quarter We had the ball on the BYU 11 yard line before fumbling it into the Cougar defense's hands. Damn. BYU drives right down the field after the fumble and get another field goal making it 20-10 with 3 minutes to play in the 3rd quarter. 4th Quarter We don't get anything going and punt it to BYU who immediately gave us the ball back as Abramowicz comes up with a big interception. Once again though, we get nothing going punting it to the BYU 18 yard line. We get it back with 10 minutes to go after a punted touchback. Perfect, Coleman forces a pass and throws an interception, BYU ball on our 25 yard line. Not what we wanted there. If they score a TD, this one is over. We do miraculously hold them to a 3 plays few yards, field goal, 23-10 with 7+ minutes to play. A nice 45 yard kick return gets us in to BYU territory on their 44 yard line to start the drive. Lets take advantage! Coleman leads the way with a few nice scrambling runs and passes one to Hudson for the score making it 23-17 with just under six minutes to go! That was a quick quick drive! 55 seconds to be exact. BYU gets STUFFED on a 3rd and 1 on their own 18 yard line! 4th and 1 and they punt it away where we return it to the 46 yard line on our side of the field. Here we go! 4 minutes to go, plenty of time, even if we don't score here. Hudson slips a few tacklers on a reception on 3rd and 4 and takes it up the field for a 37 yard gain, 1st and 10 on the 11 yard line now! Coleman scrambles out and runs it into the endzone for a touchdown! 23-23 pending the extra point. Can you say Vince Young!? 24-23 after the made extra point. 2:30 left to go though, plenty of time as we only took a minute off the clock. Michael Dawkins comes up with a sack on 2nd and 10! 3rd and 14 comin' up. Abramowics comes up with his 2nd pick of the day!!! Our ball on the BYU 29 yard line! Less than two minutes to play! On 3rd and 14, Rogers takes the pitch and breaks it to the outside where he gains 14 yards for the first down and that SEALS the victory!! booyah! Coleman is 27 of 44, 276 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT. He came up big on the ground though, getting 7 rushes for 40 yards and 2 TDs! We move to 6-2 and already wrap up a bowl game. TCU holds of a surging Air Force team that scored 21 in the 4th quarter. TCU remains undefeated in the conference while BYU has one loss along with Utah.

Week 10 @ 4-2 Colorado State - CSU faves by 6 This should be another good close game, until we pull away at the end...:) TCU and Utah are matched up this week for the battle for 1st. If Utah wins there will be up to a 4 way tie for first, not including us, since we've got 2 losses. CSU doesn't have much of an offense, nor a defense, so we shouldn't have much of problem with moving the ball. 1st Quarter Rogers gets hurt on his first carry of the game so that leaves us with Monroe and senior Bill Warner(2/3). So, we may be passing quite a bit today. 1st Quarter The first quarter is uneventful as neither team really got into a position to score, but CSU is threatening as they're on our 20 yard line facing a 3rd and 2. 2nd Quarter They convert for the first down. CSU gets into the endzone on 3rd and goal from 3 yards out. 7-0. We come back and move down the field through the legs of Monroe, but we're eventually held thanks to a 5 yard loss on a running attempt on 3rd and 2. Ugh. We go for it but lose yards again on a sack, CSU ball on their 40 yard line now. 14-0 after CSU gets a big play against our secondary setting them up for a 5 yard run. 6 minutes to play in the half. Lafleur returns the kick 84 yards to the CSU 5 yard line(I didn't realize this when I ran a reverse play...lol...loss of yards). But we still get into the end zone through the arm of Coleman and the hands of Blount. 14-7 with 4+ minutes to play in the half. We get another shot to score with 1:30 left, the ball on our 38 yard line to start. Blount slices through the defenders as they sent nearly everyone on blitzes, gain of 41 as we get into the red zone with under a minute to play. 14-10 after a 24 yard field goal by Bernard as time nearly runs out in the half. We had 3 chances to get into the endzone but a costly sack moved us too far back to get into the end zone. Ah, well. Good finish to the half. We're getting outgained 293 to 137. LOL 3rd Quarter Monroe takes a nice hit and has to leave the field, but he'll be okay to come back in if he has too. Warner taking his first two carries for a total of 23 yards! Nice. But fumbling one of the carries. On first and 10 Warner gets the pitch, gets 9 yards and fumbles again! This time we lose it on the CSU 19 yard line.. ugh.. I think a hurt Monroe will be better than that crap. Coleman gets taken out of the game, and we let Wong take over for a while then we'll bring Coleman back in once I feel more comfy. Wong leads us down the field and gets us to the 13 yard line where we eventually have to settle for a field goal. Time for Coleman to come back in once we get the ball back. 14-13 with 4 to play in the 3rd. Ugh. Blount fumbles on the punt return giving the ball back to CSU in our territory. THAT would be our FIFTH fumble of the game, THREE of them we've lost!! What on Earth! Where's the discipline? Heh, LB Petruziello comes up with an interception two players later to give us the ball back! Whew! 3rd Q comes to an end. 4th Quarter Whew, Coleman fumbles it, but we recover, thankfully. 6th fumble on th day. Coleman throws a pick giving it back to CSU! Unbelievable game! There've been about 20 turnovers it seems like... Let me find out exactly. We've got four TO's, CSU has turned it over 3 times, twice on fumbles. *shakes head* I'm going to bring Wong back into the game, just because he was playing well when he was in, and Coleman doesn't seem like he's okay to play... but we need to get the ball back first. CSU gets a touchdown, taking a 21-13 lead with 12 minutes to go in the game. They took advantage of the short field after the INT. Damn. Meltdown alert as Wong throws his first pass into the hands of CSU. Ugh! Coleman, back in! We luckily hold them to a field goal, making it 24-13 with 10 minutes to play yet. Let's break out of this AWFUL funk! UGH! Coleman takes us down all the way into the endzone but the 15 yard touchdown pass is called back thanks to a penalty on our PENALTY DRIVEN OLINE! 3rd and goal now on the 20.... We get a field goal making it an 8 point game. 24-16... 6 to go We FINALLY get the ball back on our 4 yard line with less than two minutes to go.... *sigh* We have to score a touchdown and almost 100% get the 2 point conversion as we probbaly won't have enough time to get the ball back again. Here goes nothing. After a 23 yard run by Coleman on a scramble and a 20 yard pass to Blount, we get to mid field, where we now face a 3rd and 10... 4th down after the incompletion.. Could be our last chance with 45 seconds to go. Well, we get 7 yards on the next play and that would be the end of it as the timeout system is still so fuc'd up its not even funny. 24-16 as we lose our 3rd conference game. 6-3. Our defense is just awful. We've got one player with 3 sacks and everyone else that has a sack only has 1 except Villapiano with 2. Ridiculous. We also can't expect to win ball games by turning it over FIVE times. We fumbled the ball 6 times, losing three of 'em. What kind of pathetic handling is that? Coleman finished with a piss poor game, 18 of 35, 220 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT. Wong finished 7 of 10, 54 yards and an INT. Was good up to that pick. Monroe and Warner combined for 20 carries and 82 yards. Not bad. ****! That's about all I have to say after that real frustrating game.

Week 11 @ 3-4 UNLV - Rebels faves by 2 Well, Rogers is out for a few weeks, so no Rogers today. Monroe and Warner will be getting the handoffs this week. Yipee!! Coleman will be playing through an injury, an elbow sprain. He'll be 100% in 2-4 weeks, but like I said, we're playing him. UNLV isn't very good, but we're not playing so hot lately, so it should make for a great game!!! 1st Quarter Coleman getting eaten up alive during the first two drives as he's sacked three times. The OL doesn't even want to play today..buncha losers. Luckily we've got the 24th ranked defense in the country to TRY to keep us in the game. UNLV strikes first, 7-0 after a lonnng drive. UNLV will strike second too as we fumble the kickoff return...!! 2nd Quarter They do indeed get another touchdown on 6 plays. 14-0. UNLV's below average offense continues to kill our defense.... What in the hell is going on? 21-0! WEEEHAW! Touchdown, Coleman to Dillon. 21-6, nice drive for Coleman as he had 3 completions for 41 yards on the drive. Yay! The missed extra poing does NOT please me one bit. When we're down like this, you don't go missing extra points. I have a very capable freshman behind you Bernard. You miss a short field goal or another EP you're done!!! DONE! I'm not in the mood for this ****! Way to go defense, give up a 54 yard pass getting them into our field on 3rd and long. Great defense, guys. The defense does step it up a little, holding them to three points after a 44 yard field goal. 24-6 with two minutes to play in the half. Coleman goes 0-3 on the 6 yard line after 1st and goal, allowing us to only get three points. 24-9 as we go into the half. 3rd Quarter We get the ball to start the half at least. More stupid penalties by our OL forces us to kick a field goal after having it 1st and goal on the 4! AAARGH! 24-12 early on in the 2nd half. We continue to dominate the last 15 or so minutes with a touchdown after travelling 92 yards down the field. Coleman connected with Monroe in the endzone for the score! 24-19 midway through the 3rd. We continue to tear apart the Rebels defense as we go down the field again, this time 81 yards and Coleman connected to Whigham for the score. After an awful awful start, Coleman is finally playing REAL well. As you can see. :) 26-24. 2 minutes left in the 3rd. Cecil BLy comes up nicely on defense, intercepting a Rebel pass and returning it 16 yards to the UNLV 15 yard line. 1st down! :) Monroe takes a screen on 3rd and 10 and squeaks into the endzone for six more points. 15 yard touchdown pass for Coleman, who's playing wonderfully after a 2 for 13 start. 33-24 as we start the 4th quarter. 4th Quarter Just when it seemed like UNLV wouldn't be able to do anythign for the rest of the game, they come storming down the field into the red zone before having the field goal BLOCKED! Suckah's! Woot, nothing is going wrong for us now. Let's get into the endzone one more time. 3rd and Goal!!! Coleman throws a pick! ooh, no! 7 minutes to play in the ball game. But we force them to a quick 3 and out only to fumble it on the punt return. What the heck? lol 33-27 as UNLV lost 1 yard on their drive but they still get three points. The Rebels come up huge on a 4th and 4 at mid field with under two minutes to play, gaining 15 yards and moving it deeper into our territory. Ugh. ABRAMOWICZ AND THE REST OF THE DEFENSE! Thank yoU! :) Bet I scared you. We got a total of 5 sacks on the day, easily our highest total of the season. Abramowicz comes up with a huge interception to end this ball game. Like I said, thank you guys. 33-27 final as we couldn't come up with a score in the 4th quarter, but that didn't matter, we scored 24 points in the 3rd which was all we needed. A nice game from Coleman, finally. Passing for 359 yards and 4 TD passes while completing 27 of 46 passes. Not the greatest completions %, but he started out awfully. He also threw an interception, but ran twice for 42 yards! Monroe handled the running duties, getting 15 carries for 73 yards. On defense DE Villapiano came up with three sacks! Nice for a freshman playing out of position at DT. We move to 7-3 after coming dangerously close to going 6-4.

Week 13 Notes QB Cecil Coleman is a heisman candidate this year. He's up for the POY award and also the Golden Arm Award. :) Another good season for the young kid. Eric Plum is up for the best Punter. Week 13 against New Mexico, comin' up later.

Week 13 vs 2-8 New Mexico - Even......how? lol Well, we are still missing stupid-head Graham due to grades, so we're still shorthanded in the running back department, unless I pull off a redshirt freshman, which I don't want to do as long as Monroe keeps running the ball decent enough. Rogers is back, but I don't know if I want his 2.92 yards per carry in my backfield. Monroe is averaging over 4 YPC, so we'll give him the start this week. 1st Quarter New Mexico gets on the board with their second drive of the game. 3-0 after the field goal. Monroe hasn't given me any reason to keep him in the starting role in his first four carries for 2 yards, but Coleman as usual, picks up the slack and leads the team down the field for a touchdown pass, this one to Whigham. 7-3 nearing the end of the 1st quarter. 2nd Quarter After accepting a 3rd and 15 penalty for Offensive Pass Interference to push New Mexico out of field goal range, it does not pay off as NM gets 34 yards on the next play for a first down on 3rd and 30. Pathetic secondary. 10-7 as New Mexico eventually scores the TD. Monroe gets the easy touchdown from 1 yard out as he gets his 7th yard of the day on 6 carries. Warner has actually started getting the bulk of the carries lately, and he's got two carries for 13 yards already. 14-10 with a few minutes to play in the half. New Mexico answers back with a touchdown, taking back the lead, 17-14 with less than a minute to play. 3rd Quarter Houston takes the reverse hand off 38 yards before fumbling it on the NM 10 yard line. Great. 1st down for NM now. Nothing happens for the rest of the quarter, just a bunch of punting. 4th Quarter - NM still leading 17-14 Uh-oh. New Mexico gets into the endzone to take a 24-14 lead. We're playing pretty poorly. Coleman is playing well, but everyone else isn't. Coleman generates his frustration by putting together a good enough drive to get us three points to pull within 7. 24-17 with 8 minutes to go. DE Villapiano comes up with an interception after the ball was tipped at the line! This stops a solid drive that was starting to come together for New Mexico, whew!! That's big. Houston slips away from a few tacklers and breaks it open for a 53 yard touchdown catch! Tie ball game just like that. Three plays after the interception, whoo-hoo. 24-24 with 5 to go. A holding penalty on first down hurts New Mexico and helps us hold them to a quick three and out. 2:43 left in the ball game, 1st and 10 for us at our 34 yard line. We face a dangerous call, but decide to punt on 4th and 4 on the NM 47 yard line. I wanna go for it, but there's just over a minute to go, I don't want to give them a chance to score if we don't get it. NM ball on the 20 yard line after the touchback. Uuhhh, so freakin' close. New Mexico misses a 47 yard field goal for the win after they were able to break open a few runs....ugh.... OT We Go. OT New Mexico on offense first. After a gain of two, incomplete and a fumble for a loss of 5, New Mexico has to try for a field goal, which they miss wide right!!! All we need is a FG now. All we need though is two plays as Coleman hits Whigham from 13 yards out for the game winning touchdown! 30-24 final score! Such a strange game. It looked like we weren't going to have a chance there for a while, but we came back. We didn't play so well in the 1st three quarters, but finally came together for the win to push us to an 8-3 record and a possible Top 25 spot. Coleman was 28 of 36 for 307 yards and 3 TD passes! Great game, no picks either. He also had 7 carries for 48 yards. Warner had 7 carries for 56 yards. He'll be starting next week as Monroe finished with 16 yards on 14 carries! Awesome, dude. Villapiano, the DPOG with a sack, interception and two forced fumbles. Nicely done, bud. We're allowing way too many sacks, giving up six this game, and I believe six last game as well. No wonder Coleman got hurt.

Week 14 vs 6-4 San Jose State - We faves by 4 Good way to end the season before we head into the bowl season...with a win against a decent but not that good foe. Coleman is fully recovered from his elbow strain, and looks to take the lead in Passing Yarsd in the nation. He's only down by 13 yards to a player that's played his 12 games of the season already. So he looks to finish as the best. I planned on starting Warner for the week, but he's a bit injured so we're going to give him the rest before the big bowl game that I really really want to win. 1st Quarter Rogers sucks, I forgotted. He fumbles it and SJSU returns it 25 yards to our 6 yard line. Let's hold 'em D. We don't, 7-0 early on. We run only once on our next drive as Coleman takes it all the way down the field for the touchdown pass to Ebenezer Dodrill from three yards out! 7-7 just like that. 2nd Quarter 14-7 as SJSU takes advantage of the lost fumble from Coleman as he was sacked. We only need one play to tie it back up, a 72 yard out to Monroe is good for six points. 14-14, once again, just like that. We hold SJSU to a punt and we go driving down the field again, this time Coleman hits MacPherson with a 31 yard touchdown pass! His 3rd touchdown of the game already. He's really showing off out there! He's great a good shot to be the player of the year!!! 21-14. Five minutes left in the half. We get the ball back on the 6 yard line with two minutes to go. That's enough time for Coleman to go 94 yards for ANOTHER TOUCHDOWN! His fourth of the game goes to Rogers this time! Wowza at his first half numbers. 28-14 at the half! Coleman is 22 of 29 for 306 yards! 4 tds. Those numbers are as if the game was over! But it's halftime! 3rd Quarter Our drive comes to a halt and we settle for a field goal! Dang! 31-14 early on in the 2nd half. Rogers has 10 carries for 75 yards, and Monroe 6 for 22 yards(this just to show you that I'm not only passing passing passing, but passing passing running...:) ) Nothing can be stopped as we kick another field goal after 55 yards rushing by our two backs. 34-14 now. 4th Quarter ANother field goal for Bernard, 37-14 midway through the final quarter. We almost have 600 yards of offense while SJSU doesn't even have 200 yet. Am I supposed to feel bad? I don't. This is a great game to get rid of those frustrations from those horrible losses. We record a safety, making it 39-14.... lol Coleman has been on the bench watching Rogers rack up the yards! Rogers with over 200 yards rushing in the game with 5 minutes to play. Rogers finishes the game with 39 carries for 262 yards on the ground! Wowza! What a great game for the Senior. Has he found his stroke just in the nick of time as we head into the bowl game? He also had 3 catches for 89 yards and his only TD. We finish with a 9-3 record in this record breaking football game(at least I think it would be). Coleman finishes 28 of 38 for 346 yards and 4 TD passes. Will we win my first bowl game as a head coach???? Does Coleman win the POY Award? Stay Tuned!

Season Stats and Notes - Offensive and Defensive Stats Attached to Word Doc below. ****Should I post pictures(more hassle) or should I just post the stats through a document? It doesn't matter to me, really, just let me know whatch y'all prefer. I'll change it up next season if there a unanimous decision to change it :)**** We finished the season pretty well in the nation for offense and defense thanks to the last game of the year. Offensively, we were 27th in the nation. Defensively, we were 14th in the nation. I do believe those are the bests for me. I forgot to post the offensive stats and stuff for the last game.. SJSU-198 yards SDSU-669 yards Annnnd, WHHHYYY do all these recruits keep going to them? That's my only question! LOL, Ah, well, as long as we keep kicking their asses. Coleman finished the season with this impressive line: 313 of 483 (64.8%) 3608 Yards (7.5 per attempt) 31 TDs 8 INTs 145.4 Rating He was sacked way too many times(36), but that's going to happen with all the passes we made this year! To go along with all those passing yards, Coleman also had 67 rushes for 419 yards and 3 touchdown runs. You'll see that senior Center, gave up 24 eff'n sacks. Holy crap. I should've put one of my stellar OG's over there. Ah, well. Maybe I'll do that for the bowl game. Check out the attachment for the rest of the Offense along with the defensive stats.

End of Season Notes Player of the Year Award Goes to Mike Robinson of Ohio State. The guy threw one more touchdown than Cecil and ran one more than him too. But Coleman threw for plenty more yards. Obviously, Robinson played on a much better team in a much better conference, so I don't blame the media with this pick at all. I wish I could find out what place Coleman got in the voting. Golden Arm Award QB Mike Robinson again. All Americans - 2nd Team QB Cecil Coleman - Nicely done, little stud. 1st Team MWC - Coleman named POY for the 2nd straight season. Perhaps he could get 4 straight? That would be sweetness. So QB Cecil Coleman Sr OG Dan Ezerins - A heckuva season for him, 20 pancakes. 2nd Team MWC Fr DE Dee Villapiano - 6 sacks, nice season for a true freshman Jr FS Robert VonWagner - 5 picks 1 returned for TD 3rd Team Jr WR Todd Whigham - 56 Rec, 606 yards, 6 TDs Jr LB Fred Abramowicz - 79 tackles, 5 ints Jr CB Fred Dawson Jr Punter Eric Plum - 44.3 average, 39.1 net Nice to see only one of the players listed as all conference players are going to be graduating, and we have decent replacements for Ezerins, so...interesting!

BOWL BOUND We get into the Central Texas Bowl this year and will face 6-5 Tulane! A foe worthy of killing, perhaps? We'll see as I scout them up. Tulane will be favorites, by 8 points. RB Drew Seymour(7/9) will be the guy to stop. But his injury may help us out a little, as he's got a broken toe. Other than him, there is absolutely nothing to worry about when I look at their depth chart, honestly. They're no better than New Mexico or Air Force in our conference. Coleman will pick apart their secondary, IMHO! ;) Of course that's my opinion, he's 2nd team all american, how can he not? :p Anyhow, let's get to the game!

Bowl game vs Tulane You've heard my thoughts already in the above post.. Rogers will get the start after his tremendous game three weeks ago. 1st Quarter We start out with a run to the outside with Rogers, no yards. 2nd play is a completion, but no yards were gained. 3rd down is a screen pass to Rogers who takes it in and hurdles a defender and gets 12 yards and the first down! Holding on the defense, declined. First down! Next play Coleman scrambles for a 23 yard gain! Nice. After a few nice carries by Rogers, we found ourselves on the 18 yard line where we had 1st and 15 after an ineligible receiver down field on OG Joseph who's playing center, but maybe not for long. On the 1st and 15 we go to the air and Coleman hits Hudson in stride who takes it into the endzone for six! 7-0 on the opening drive ! Me = Excited! Coleman 4 for 4, 40 yards, 1 TD. Three and out for Tulane. 3rd and 12 at the Tulane 28 yard line we set up a screen and Rogers takes it in and gets GREAT blocking and goes UNTOUCHED into the endzone for the touchdown! Annnd no penalties, yay. 28 yard touchdown pass makes it 14-0! Coleman 8 of 9, 89 yards, 2 TDs. Rogers has 11 carries for 43 yards. Impressive start for both skill players. 4 minutes to go in the 1st. Tulane not going to go down easily as they answer back with a touchdown of their own. 14-7 nearing the end of the 1st quarter. We have to punt it away to Tulane who takes it down the field and gets into position for a 51 yard field goal. Our defense, who's got lots of blocked field goals on the season blocks this one giving us the ball back on the 44 yard line. We have to punt it away again after only gaining a yard, but the Coffin Corner candidate nails a 54 yard punt which is downed on the Tulane 1 yard line! Safety time? They gain a yard and will have to punt after an incomplete pass...wait, nope, holding on the defense, automatic first down... Damn! We do get them to punt later on in the drive and we get the ball back on the 3 yard line with 5 minutes to play in the half. Someone in the Tulane secondary blew an assignment as Coleman connected with Hudson for the 2nd time in the game for a 35 yard touchdown pass and catch! Wahoo 21-7 as we near the end of the half, 1:20 left. That was an impressive 94 yard drive. Villapiano comes up with a sack, seventh on the season. That would be pretty much it for the half. Rogers has 19 carries for 59 yards Coleman is 14/20, 174 yards, 3 TD passes Our offense is outgaining Tulane 265 to 152. Good game all around for our boys. Two quarters away from my first Bowl Win! 3rd Quarter Tulane starts the scoring first as they take the opening drive down the field goal and get a 52 yard field goal to stay in the game. 21-10. Coleman continues his great game, but our receivers continue to fumble the ball, and it's Tulane's ball on their own 25 yard line. We were moving down the field nicely once again, but as usual, the receivers find a way to ruin it. We get the ball back after a quick 3 and out anyways and Coleman, being Coleman the All American, takes us down the field once again, and hits WR Hudson, ONCE AGAIN for the touchdown! This one is from 19 yards out! Amazing game between these two guys. Hudson is the #3 receiver, it's insane! 28-10. 4 minutes left in the 3rd. Coleman nearing the 300 yard mark. Blount puts the nail in the coffin as he returns the Tulane punt 56 yards for the touchdown! 35-10 and this one is OVER! 4th Quarter That's enough of Rogers. Pathetic game by him, but oh well, can't expect him to do that great everytime. He just got his 30th carry and lost 7 yards putting his total to 67 yards. Time to bring in Monroe/Graham/Warner for some carries. 35-17 as Tulane puts together a nice drive with 5 minutes to play. That would be the final score! Coleman, easily the player of the game as we dominate Tulane on both sides of the ball until it came to the end when Tulane got some mercy yards. Coleman was 23 of 31 for 302 yards, 4 TD passes. Such a great season for him! Quite the nice finish, too. We finish the season 10-3 and we'll find out if we break the Top 25 as we play out the rest of the bowl games. We SHOULD, as we were 26-28 with the votes we received. So! :)

2012 Season Notes San Diego State University ended up 24th in the Media Polls and 25th in the Coaches Poll! Hip-hip-Hooray! Coleman finished with 3910 yards, 35 TDs, 8 INTs. Let's see if he can duplicate those numbers, maybe even improve on them next season!!!! Evaluation Team Performance: B Talent: D Recruiting: D Board Expectations: A Prestige: A Overall: B- The overall grade is my best yet, beating the C+ I got a four or five seasons back. It's nice to be on the higher end of things! Our prestige started at 43 at the beginning of the season and is now 44! A jump of one.. maybe it'll go up after the file flips over. Hmm. We'll see. Nope, it didn't. Heh. I'm going to be looking at the job offers before I call it a night. Job Offers for Coach Mau Nevada and Toledo both offered and I've declined. Another season with SDSU it looks like.

2013 Off Season Okay, a few more things! LOL I'm just too excited to go to bed yet. We have to sign a new Offensive Coordinator and we sign quite possibly the best one out there, he's got great developing in most categories except RB where's he's only green. If Coleman improves just a little, watch the heck out! Transfers Wow. The list of interested players is WAAAY up there. There are some guys that are rated 8's and 9's that are even very interested, holy smokes! We offer a number of players scholarships including a 7/9 RB who currently plays at USC! He's a sophomore who hasn't used up his Redshirt year, so, wow, if we get him, I'll win a national championship ;). j/k We offer five scholarships, we'd offer more but we can't offer more than one at each position! Here goes, advancing... We add in a RS Freshman QB a scholarship, just in case...... We don't get the RB, unfortunately, but we've still got a chance at a few other players still! Four of them to be exact. Final Week Of Transfers: Nope. Nope. Nope. And Nope. Bummer. Ah, well! We can still do well in the MWCrap(minus Utah, who are becoming major players! They're consistently ranked in the top 20 year in and out, they finished 12th this year. I remember in a few of my first few years they finished top 5!).

Recruiting Season Is Here I have not once used the change positions, other than played a player out of position. I think this year though, I'll use it, just to see wud up. I imagine some of my 10 receivers could be good DB's perhaps. So, I will do that when the time comes around, I know I've got athletes on my team. 1st Week of Recruiting As always, it's just scout week. Almost all the interested players are 3 stars or lower, but when it comes to '6' interest, I've got a 5 star SS interested, so I'll play him hard and hope to land him. Week Two Nada happened here. Week Three We're now hoping for some recruits from here and out, maybe one or two a week, but I'd like more if at all possible. I am seeing a lot of players that I could really use this season, and the recruits, if they are smart, will see that and come here! We sign none but lose a few non-important players. Week Four We find out this week that Utah has taken a hit in their backfield for the upcoming season. They lose Sylvester Smith to the NFL Draft. Smith was a senior and poised to have his best season. Too bad. No signings again. Week Five I don't want what happened last year to happen.. I'd rather know now if the kids want to come to school here rather than in the final week of signings. C'mon kids! Players committing to San Diego State DE Avon Morin We lose three players to other colleges. They made the wrong choices, yes they did.

Week Six I have a feeling this will be a good week for us. Last week we got a good DE in Morin, who looks to have a shot at starting this year with Johnny Hampton. I'd like that duo, assuming Morin pans out after the training period. Players committing to San Diego State RB Dennis Bennett I really wanted a running back this off season, well, I've got one. I'm hoping for at least one more though, since it seems like my recent RB recruits have been all misses. I have a two other RB's on my list. Week Seven My gut feeling didn't come through last week, but we still have a lot of potential signees, according to my scouts who're all saying that we should have at least 10 recruits signing soon. Players committing to San Diego State TE Anthony Heitmann DE Clarence Phillips We get a good blocking TE in Heitmann. Phillips adds more depth to an already good position. It looks like these guys will be possibly moving over to DT if our current one doesn't pan out. Week Eight C'monnnnn 8 recruits this week!! *crosses fingers* Nothing. We don't lose anybody worth importance either. Strange week. Week Nine I almost have a 100% feeling that I will sign this certain CB this week. Players committing to San Diego State ILB Zollie Milloy We didn't sign the guy I thought we would, but we haven't lost him yet either. One more week of signings before the training period though. We've got 5 recruits so far. Final Week If we don't sign more than four recruits, I'll be pretty upset with this year's recruiting. I have all the confidence in the world that I will sign more than that though...so here goes: Players committing to San Diego State FS Joe Baker (#249th ranked recruit in the nation... nice) CB Brenden Hodgins ILB Fredd Hayward CB Alexander Brunell CB Randy Smith WR Jim Nomellini We not only get the CB I thought we would, we got two more! We should FINALLY be set in the secondary! Wahoo! All Three Star players except the last one, who's a WR I don't care about. The following recruits ended up coming to San Diego State: CB Randy Smith, 3-stars Tokay (Lodi, CA) National Rank: 879, Regional: 182, Position: 58 ILB Zollie Milloy, 3-stars De La Salle (Concord, CA) National Rank: 659, Regional: 117, Position: 43 TE Anthony Heitmann, 3-stars Kern Valley (Lake Isabella, CA) National Rank: 545, Regional: 92, Position: 32 CB Alexander Brunell, 3-stars Pitman (Turlock, CA) National Rank: 919, Regional: 189, Position: 66 ILB Fredd Hayward, 3-stars Central Catholic (Modesto, CA) National Rank: 992, Regional: 210, Position: 50 DE Avon Morin, 3-stars Palo Verde (Las Vegas, NV) National Rank: 740, Regional: 138, Position: 50 DE Clarence Phillips, 3-stars Monte Vista (Spring Valley, CA) National Rank: 942, Regional: 198, Position: 58 RB Dennis Bennett, 3-stars Deer Creek Mackinaw (Mackinaw, IL) National Rank: 1604, Regional: 295, Position: 113 FS Joe Baker, 3-stars New Caney (New Caney, TX) National Rank: 249, Regional: 42, Position: 21 CB Brenden Hodgins, 3-stars Lancaster (Lancaster, CA) National Rank: 679, Regional: 122, Position: 37 WR Jim Nomellini, 2-stars R.S. Ayala (Chino Hills, CA) National Rank: 896, Regional: 186, Position: 133

Post Training - Depth Chart of Offense Attached. Freshman FS Baker was indeed our best player after the training period. He's now rated as a 4/8! Nice! Finally, we'll be all right on the deep ball. But our corners will continue to struggle a little, even our newly recruited players are only as good as the players already had. None of the WR's will have anything to offer as a DB either, so we can't change many things up, sadly. Redshirt freshman Carlson and Graham will be duking it out for the running back position. They're both rated as 2/5. Carlson is faster, but Graham is just a better runner overall, so he'll likely start out at the top of the depth chart to start the season.. Coleman is still listed as 4/6, so he's still a baller. We're deep at the TE position, freshman Heitman(2/8) will likely be redshirted with two players that are more ready than him.. We're going to go with a West Coast offense along with 3-4 again on defense. I was suggested to go with 3-3-5, which I almost did, but I went back to something I feel comfortable with, the 3-4 D. Scheduling Effort We need four games this season. UTEP agrees to 2 games. Arkansas agrees to 1 game, week 1. :) We start out the season with a good opponent.. weehoo Cincinatti and UAB also agree to a two game series. We're set to go!

Defense Depth Chart & Schedule Attached below. We're real good on the DE and LB positions along with the Safeties spots, like the last few years though, we're going to struggle on the corners with the DB's. I do believe though, that we'll be a top 25 team defensively though once again. Team Schedule WEEK OPPONENT SCORE 1 at Arkansas 2 Alabama Birmingham 3 OPEN - 4 at Nevada-Las Vegas - 5 New Mexico - 6 Wyoming - 7 OPEN - 8 at Texas Christian - 9 at Colorado State - 10 Utah - 11 at Brigham Young - 12 Air Force - 13 OPEN - 14 at Cincinnati - 15 at Texas-El Paso -

Week One @ 0-0 Arkansas - Arkansas faves by 8 Coleman starts out the season with a tough task against a decent Arkansas defense. They'd probably be rated as the best defense if they played in the MWC, right above us...barely. We've got better defensive lineman, the linebackers are about the same, and they have better DB's, but we've got a better FS in Baker, who I'm very excited to see play. We'll have to stop RB Brian Sikahema(7/9) if we wanna hold this above average offense under 28 points. If you take out Sikahema, you have an offense that looks much like ours. We have to spend a lot of our Study Hall Hours this week on a few guys, mainly a few of our starters who're just below the mark, so they shouldn't have a problem coming back. 1st Quarter Arkansas gets the ball to start the game and they take the ball just beyond midfield before punting it into the endzone. It's Coleman Time. We lose 1 yard along with a 5 yard penalty forces us to punt it back to Arkansas. Arkansas gets to our 41 before punting it into the endzone again. We need to move down the field a little. We'll get Coleman to throw some short passes this drive. Here weeee goooo! Another penalty, offensive pass interference, forces us to punt it again. 6 minutes to go in the 1st as Arkansas gets good field position yet again. Arkansas finally takes advantage of good field position and gets into the endzone. 9 plays 55 yards later it's 7-0. 2nd Quarter We get to midfield before punting it 51 yard into the endzone as the 1st quarter comes to an end. FR DE Avon Morin comes up with the first sack of the season for us as we hold Arkansas to a field goal after stopping them on 3rd and 2. 10-0. So far Graham has 7 carries for -2 yards..Time to give Carlson hand offs... ugh We finally get on the board thanks to a field goal from Sophomore kicker Turner. 10-3 We get the ball back on the kickoff as Arkansas fumbles it, we return it to the Arkansas 9 yard line. Todd Whigham gets the first of many touchdown receptions from Coleman. That ties it up at 10! 6 minutes to play in the half. Now it's time to stop Sikahema who's got 10 carries for 95 yards...we just cannot stop the option! Arkansas gets a HUGE return, returning it to our 4 yard line. But DE Morin comes up with his 2nd sack of the game making it 2nd and Goal on the six yard line now. 3rd and Goal on the 3 after a 3 yard run. 4th and Goal on the 1 after a 2 yard gain. We do a mad 3-4 blitz, expecting a run, and they go to the air to get a touchdown. 17-10. Coleman needs five plays to get back into the endzone to tie this game back up. This time Coleman scrambled for a three yard touchdown run. He still had 82 yards throwing on that drive. 17-17. 3 mintes left in the half. The Razorbacks go three and out and give us the ball with just under two minutes to go at the 9 yard line following a MONSTER 65 yard punt. Sheesh. We just run it three times, running the clock out, we'll take a tie at the half. But that's not the way Arkansas wants to end the half as they have the ball at midfield with 16 seconds left, they get a big 30+ yard gain to put them into the field goal range and they knock it in for three. 20-17 at the half now. Coleman is 13 of 18 for 144 yards and 2 TDs(1 running). The run game is nearly non-existent. 3rd Quarter Blair Shuler receives a pass from Coleman on 3rd and Goal for the touchdown! 24-20 as we take our first lead of the game. That was the first drive of the 2nd half. Coleman continues to be very impressive. Arkansas needs two plays to get the lead back as our secondary gets beat...probably not the only time that'll happen this year. 27-24 a minute later. I feel that the next team to make a mistake will lose this one. A mistake being a big turnover on their side of the field. We get halted on the 34 yard line forcing us to kick a long field goal, 52 yarder. Turner has a good leg, but not that good as he comes up short. 4th Quarter The fourth quarter opens up with a big decision for Arkansas as they face 4th and 1 on our 21 yard line. They decide to play it smart and kick the field goal, which they make. 30-24 at the start of the 4th. We march right down the field and get a field goal for ourselves. 30-27 as Turner hits the 31 yard field goal. 12 minutes to play yet. Arkansas faces a 3rd and 7 on the next drive and they run the option, which had been killing us all game, but finally we stop them for a 2 yard gain, forcing them to punt it. But, on the next play, Coleman throws his first interception of the season. We were being ever so careful, sticking only with what was working all game, the short passes. Damn.. 1st and 10 for Arkansas at our 36 yard line. Could this be the mistake I was talking about that wins it for Arkansas? Nothing bad happens as Arkansas goes three and out punting it to our 13 yard line. Whew! Nice defensive stop! THAT is the mistake I was talking about as Coleman fumbles it into the hands of Arkansas. That is Coleman's 2nd fumble of the game, but the first one we didn't lose. 1st and 10 for Arkansas as they return the fumble to our 3 yard line with over 7 minutes to play. Next play is a touchdown. 37-27 still with over 7 minutes to go. Coleman paves the way for the touchdown, as he hits Moss in the endzone from 14 yards out! What a drive! 11 plays, 73 yards over 4 minutes of time leaving us 3 minutes to get the ball back for a field goal or perhaps a game winning touchdown. 37-34. It takes us a little longer than we wanted, but we got the ball back with 1:17 left on the clock. An illegal use of hands puts us back on our 20 yard line instead of the 30. Dang. Ugh.. A nice 23 yard gain on a quick slant is called back due to a hold on OT Elam. NOT THE TIME FOR THAT ****. C'mon 4th and 13, things are not looking good. We have to go with a deep route as there's only 30 seconds left. The pass is complete to Shuler who sprints down the sideline for a 46 yard gain!! That puts us on the 37 yard line of Arkansas with 23 seconds left! We use our last time out! Wow! Lets get a short pass gain and a field goal to tie it up.... Whew.... 16 seconds left after spiking the ball. 3rd and 6 now. Dang, I wanted more yards than that. This would be a 51 yard field goal. One yard shorter than the one we missed earlier. One more play... Please don't run out of time after this play.. Please Please Please. Okay incomplete pass. 4th and 6 on the 33 yard line. We kick the field goal. Turner sets up... the kick is up... ...it's on its way.... it's got the distance... is it straight? ..... .... IT IS! GOOD! IT'S GOOD FROM 51 yards out! This ball game is going to OVERTIME!! HOLLLLYYYY COOWWWW!! OT Oooh, my lordy! Arkansas makes the mistake that will cost them the game! Our mistake was the game costing mistake up until now as the first play results in an interception for Arkansas which probably will be the game-costing mistake! Wow, what a change of events! Sophomore, Stingley comes up with a huge shoe-string catch for the interception. Wow. I'm still in shock! 1st and 10 - Delay of game(from typing all that previous stuff, maybe? lol) 1st and 15 - No yards gained on the run. 2nd and 15 - No yards again on the run. 3rd and 15 - We run a little hook and flat pattern in single formation. WR George Moss takes it in, slips a tackle and gets caught from behind, but not before he got the first down!!! 19 yard gain. 1st and 10 again. On 3rd and 9 from the 10 yard line, we go for the 28 yard field goal. Turner sets up. Snap is good. Kick is up. And good! AZTECS WIN !! AZTECS WIN!!!!! Wait! There is a penatly! What on Earth!? Are the forces working against me?? 38 yard field goal after the holding penalty now.... It's up. Straight! And good! There! NOW IT'S OVER! What a thriller in Arkansas! Unbelievable! The twelve fans that showed up to the game for SDSU are going crazy! They storm the field and try to take down the field goal bars, but fail! 40-37 as the Aztecs upset the Razorbacks in overtime! Coleman had an amazing game despite his two turnovers, 1 pick and fumble lost. Coleman's numbers - 37 of 52, 415 yards, 3 TDs, 1 INT! The running game was not there today as the RB's combined for 24 carries for 34 yards. Carlson getting 36 yards on 17 carries. Shuler, Moss, and Blount each recepted 8 passes, Shuler and Moss gaining 86 yards, and Blount with 66. Shuler and Moss both got TD catches. Great games by all of them, and last but not least. Carlson, he had 7 catches for 104 yards! He really kept us in the game, shedding tacklers after his catches. This West Coast Stuff works well with him in there. We outgained Arkansas 456-359, great overall game! We were getting smoked in the 1st quarter, but after that it was all us.... for the most part. LB Petrzuiello had 9 tackles. DE Morin had 2 sacks, the only two of the game. Man. 1-0 after facing a decent Arkansas team! Yay! Me happy.

Week 2 vs 0-1 UAB - We're 1 point favorites The first week win didn't come easy, as a matter of fact, we sort of paid for it with a few costly injures. We're without WR Whigham for 15-17 weeks, which is basically the whole season. We also lose, Center Ed Johnson for 4-6 weeks. And also, our best corner in Rogers. Luckily we don't play a very good team in UAB. Graham gets the start at RB again this week, as he just IS the better running back. So, let's hope he does better than last week. 1st Quarter UAB starts out with the ball, but not for long. They fumble it into our hands on their side of the field. Graham takes three carries for 15 yards, one of them being a 5 yard touchdown run. 7-0 early on. UAB ties it up at 7 midway through the first quarter as we couldn't get the 4th down conversion on their 40 yard line. 2nd Quarter UAB starts out the 2nd quarter with a field goal to take the lead 10-7. We fumble the ball on the kickoff, UAB ball on the 24. One play later, touchdown UAB.. just like that it's 17-7. Great. With 5 minutes to go, we get three points to make it 17-10. Coleman having a stellar game. 15 of 18 for 128 yards so far. We get another field goal after a LaFleur interceptoin. 17-13 with over a minute to go in the half. 17-13 would be the halftime score. We're playing pretty well, it's just those stupid first half mistakes that didn't let us get more points than we did. 3rd Quarter Coleman takes us down the field midway through the 3rd quarter to give us a 15 yard touchdown pass to Shuler, who's having a heckuva start to his career. He's a sophomore though, but he hasn't played in a game yet. 20-17. Carlson takes his 2nd rush of the game for a 15 yard touchdown run! 27-17 with a minute to play in the 3rd quarter. 4th Quarter UAB gets back to within one score as they knock in a field goal to make it 27-20 early on in the 4th. Graham gets hurt after 22 carries for 89 yards. He was having a good game... but it looks like he'll be out for a while says the announcer. We miss Graham already as Carlson fumbles it on the 40 yard line where UAB picks it up and brings it all the way to the 3 yard line after a 37 yard fumble return. Ugh!!! Ooooh, boy. Two consecutive penalties costs us two consecutive first down gains of 26 and 24. Unreal! The gods just don't want me to win this one apparently. We punt it away from our own 5 yard line with only 4:50 to go. 1st and 10 for UAB at our 25 yard line after a nice return. FS JOE BAKER comes up with the interception on the very next play! 1st and 10 for us at our 15 yard line. Whew! What a savior Baker is! Now we've got four minutes to go down field for the game winning score! We march down the field and get conservative once we get inside the 20 yard line. We run the ball til we get to fourth down and try a 30 yard field goal with less 20 seconds left. Turner nails it to give us the lead! The time runs out on the kickoff and this game is over! 30-27 victory for the Aztecs as we move to 2-0! A nice start to the season. Coleman put up some very impressive numbers. 33 of 39 for 244 yards and a TD, and also leading us to the game winning field goal. DE Johnny Hampton is the POG with 2 sacks and 7 tackles.
