Week 13 @ Air Force - Air Force favorites by 14 points. No effin' way. :) Our defense continues to be injured. They should all be healthy come the bowl game, but we need them now too, so they're going to be starting until there is no need for them. Air Force is a balanced team, with a below average defense that shouldn't be able to stop our pass attack but a good offense that we match up well with. Except of course their stud Sophomore RB, Jones(8/10). This guy is crazy good, and we'll definitely have to contain him to win this one. 1st Quarter 1st and 10 - Reese, 21 yard run. 1st and 10 - Reese, 15 yard run. 1st and 10 - Reese, 24 yard run. 1st and 10 - Garay to Roche, 13 yards. TD! Just like that. 5 easy plays, 7-0! We stop Air Force on 4th and 1 from our 45 yard line and go down the field for a 22 yard field goal by Ephraim. 10-0. Ephraim misses a 54 yard field goal on 4th and 9. Air Force scores a TD on a 54 yard pass play. Defensive break down. 10-7 just like that. 8 plays, 86 yards, Garay to Hankton TD makes it 17-7 as the 1st quarter comes to an end. 2nd Quarter Garay making a good case for Golden Arm Award so far, 11/14, 134 yards, 2 Tds. Air Force comes right back with a quick touchdown. 17-14. First play, screen, 57 yard gain for Reese from Garay sets up a 21 yard field goal for Ephraim after we came up short on 3rd and goal. 20-14 with nine minutes to go in the half. Air Force QB Babe Nugent(7/7) is hot as hell this game as well as Garay. Nugent leads AF down the field for a TD that takes a 21-20 lead. Nugent is 10/12, 196 yards, 2 TDs. Ugh. Defense? None. Reese reaches the 100 rushing mark with 5 minutes to go in the half. He's got 12 carries for 107 yards at this point. We've got 1st and 10 on our 44 yard line. We end up punting thanks to a Boobie Bland hold. We need to prevent Air Force from scoring before the half is up, there's 3 minutes to go. Never mind. 1 play. 79 yards. Touchdown. Jones just took a hand off and basically went untouched alllllll the freakin' way. Wowza. 28-20 with over two minutes to go. lol After an awful return to the 7 yard line we set up our offense. Woot. 3 plays, 93 yards later, a 6 yard TD pass to Brinker makes it 28-27. Minute to play in the half... now lets stop them from scoring. We do stop them. Whhhheeeewwww...... 2nd half should be darned interesting. 3rd Quarter Ugh. We come up with a defensive stop again for the third time of the game, but we had to go and fumble it on a nice catch and run. Air Force ball on our 40 yard line now. Whew. Air Force kicks a field goal on 4th and 1 from 49 yards out and comes up short. Let's roll now. 3rd and 14. The snap. Garay looks at the post route from Roche, he catches it! He's goign to go all the way. Wait! The DE of Air force pokes the ball out, fumble! Air Force recovers on the AF 4 yard line! Ugh.. lolol 1st and 10, 4 yard line. Blitz mania, sack! 3 yard loss only. NOt enough. Eek. 2nd and 13, 1 yard line. 1st down catch, 13 yards. Dang. They had a false start on the prior play that didn't go back a half yard ;) lol Later in the drive...Nugent back the pass, looking, looking... pass is complete to LINEBACKER WONSLEY, INTERCEPTION, look at him go, and he. Could. Go. All. The. Way! Touchdown Aztecs! 33-28! 36 yard interception returned for a TD. Nice! 34-28 after the extra point. Man oh man. That couldn't have come at a better time. Three and out! Nice! Good defense. Lets get another score. Nothing does. But! But! A 57 yard punt lands on the ONE YARD LINE! Air Force ball on the 1 yard line... Gosh. I got beat in this situation last time, but I'm going to go run defense and blitz a little bit. Nah, I go normal, 4-4, one man blitz. They get out of the squeeze quite easily. Later on. 3rd and 4 at their 30 yard line. Nugent gets picked off again, this time by SS Harper! 1st and 10 at our 48 yard line! Yowza. Minute to go in the 3rd quarter. Argh. Garay throws his first pick of the game and it's Air Force ball on their 35 yard line now. 4th Quarter Air Force moves down the field quickly. On 2nd and goal from the 7, Adamson comes up with a sack, his first and probably one of the biggest plays of this game so far. 3rd and Goal now on the 10 yard line. A 5 yard gain on the next play forces Air Force to get three points. 34-31 with 11 minutes left to go in the game. Lots of time. Let's get some yards now. We get one first down before being forced to punt. 1st and 10 now for Air Force on their 19 yard line. 3rd and 4 turns into not only a first down but a 74 yard touchdown for Air Force. Unreal. Blown coverage, c'moooonnnnn.......38-34, 8:25 in the game. After a nice return and a 15 yard face mask, we've got good field position. 1st and 10 on the AF 40 yard line. 28 yard run for Reese on the first play. 1st and 10 on the 12. A few plays later, we have 1st and Goal. We go to the air and Brinker reels in a Garay pass from two yards out for a touchdown!! 41-38. This is the most insane game evah! 6:23 remaining. POW! Three and out for our defense! Our ball at our 44 yard line with 4:45 to go. WWHOOO. Deep breath. Brinker hauls in a 9 yard catch for a first down with 3:36 to go in the game. 1st and 10 at the AF 42 yard line. Reese nearly scores a touchdown, but settles for a 16 yard gain instead. 1st and 10 again. 3rd and 2... 2:26 left on the clock. 18 yard line. Reese comes up with two yards for the first down! 16 yard line, 2:10 to go and we'll run the clock out as much as possible and hopefully get a touchdown to seal the victory! 1st n 10, 1 yard run. 2nd n 9, loss of 1 3rd n 10, loss of 1 4th n 11, field goal attempt. 35 yards out. good. 44-38 with 1:03 left for a very potent Air Force offense. That's a lot of time. Too much. They're going to have to go 86 yards for the touchdown under a minute if they want to win this. Whoa. A 65 yard catch to the 2 yard line is called back due to an ineligible receiver. Thank you. What a gift. Deep zone coming. Picked off! No! Roughing the passer. Air Force keeps the ball, 1st and 10 at the AF 43 yard line. 24 seconds left. 3 yard run as the QB got rushed out. 14 seconds left. 21 yard run as the QB got rushed out again. 7 seconds left. 32 yard line. Oooh, boy.... BALL GAME! A short gain finishes this ball game up! What a game! What a win for the Aztecs! Whaaaaaa-hoooo! 9-2. What a season. What a nerve-racking game this was. 584 yards of offense for us, while Air Force gained 642 yards. Wow. 1226 yards of offense today. Unreal. Garay - 25/40, 404 yards, 4 TDs, 1 INT. Reese - 24 carries, for 150 yards. That's an impressive last five games. 123 yards, 174 yards, 158 yards, 81 yards, 150 yards. In his first six games of the season he averaged a whoppin' 40 yards a game. Nice improvement. Utah won there game to win the conference as we come right behind them in 2nd place with our only conference loss being to Utah. They're now ranked 7th in the GDCS while we remain at 31. Wow! That game really took a lot out of me! I have to get up early too, but I will be playing the last game of the season at some point tomorrow, probably early afternoon. And I'll most likely get that bowl game in as well. Good Night! Yes, for sure a good night.

Week 14 vs 1-9 Duke These guys are pretty bad, if we don't win by ten, or even win at all, I will never ever schedule a cupcake team again because I seem to play the good teams a little better than the easy teams. 1st Quarter After our first drive fell short, we had to punt which then allowed Duke to go all the way down for six points. Ugh. My worst fears are coming true. 7-0 early on. Just when I thought Duke was going to blow us away, Wonsley comes up with a nice pick. Whew. We take the drive, 6 plays 53 yards before having to settle with a 47 yard field goal... Ephraim's kick is short. 7-0 with a little bit left to go in the 1st. Wait! Penalty on the play. Illegal substitution. Accepted. Ephraim on 4th and 4, knocks in the 42 yard field goal! Nice. 7-3 now. 2nd Quarter Duke answers our field goal with one of their own. 10-3. Uff-da. 16-3(missed EP) after a Duke touchdown with three minutes to go in the half. Things are not looking up. We keep getting stopped around mid field and having to punt while Duke eats up the clock with long successful drives. With 1 minute to go we get stopped on the Duke 45 yard line and forced to punt yet again. Ooh, crap. With 20 seconds to go Duke set themselves up for a 60 yard field goal....which they nail! 19-3 at the half! We really need to stop this now EXPLOSIVE Duke team. They've got 362 yards of offense in the first half! Unreal! Where'd our team go? 3rd Quarter Bam! After finally stopping Duke and forcing a punt we finally put a good drive together. Reese caps off a 5 play 44 yard drive with a 13 yard touchdown run. 19-10. Oooh, no no no. An interception by Ward is called back on a defensive holding penalty. Dang! That would have been nice. We end up stopping them on their next set of downs thanks to a 9 yard sack by Clark. 3rd and 10 at mid field for us, as another drive looks to come to a halt. We send Tomich on an out and up, and he breaks free! Garay lofts it up and Tomich hauls it an takes it for a score!!! 19-17! Still 4 minutes to play in the 3rd quarter. Whew! I was worried for a while. The defense makes another three and out! 1st and 10 for us at the 30 yard line. 70 yards to go. We punt it back to them. Duke tries to go for the end zone from mid field but gets picked off by Griffith on the 5 yard line, no return. 4th Quarter Eight plays, 95 yards! A 13 yard touchdown pass from Garay to Tomich capped off a great drive which had Reese gaining 52 yards on the ground. Oh, man. Ephraim's extra point is blocked. I was gonna go for two, I should have now.. lol 23-19 with 12 minutes to go. Duke goes three and out until the 3rd down incompletion, Triplett was called for Roughing the Passer. Argh. 3rd and Goal on the seven yard line. Huge play coming up. We go 3-4 defense as that has been working the best so far this half... Incomplete pass after a nice blitzing play that disrupted the passer. 23-22 Aztec lead after a Duke field goal. 6 minutes to go in this one. Exciting game. We get held to a three and out after not being able to gain a yard on 3rd and 1. Ah, crap. 1st and 10 - Delay of game for Duke. 1st and 15 - 4 yard loss on a run. 2nd and 19 - On the 32 yard line now...Incomplete pass! Just under four minutes to play now. 3rd and 19 - Incomplete again! Great defense down the stretch. 1st and 2nd down for us are two failed runs. 3rd and 11 is false start. 3rd and 16 will be a draw play...No gain again. For some reason Reese got benched to start that drive. Argh and wouldn't come back in after I placed him back in. Weird. Punt it away to the Duke 29 yard line. 1:52 left on the clock for Duke to take it into field goal territory. We need a huge stop. 1st - incomplete pass 2nd - Ugh . 49 yard gain to our 22 yard line.... Just over a minute to go now after an incomplete pass to make it 2nd down and 10 again. A 40 yard field goal is good... the score now 25-23 with 30 seconds remaining. We get a minimal return to the 19 yard line... 1st and 10 we go for a deep post to Tomich or Hankton, and Hankton reels in the pass! 1st and 10 and more! 47 yards! 34 yard line of Duke with 25 seconds to go. 2 time outs left as well. We run a screen play which went for 5 yards. Now we're into better range for Ephraim. 19 seconds left to go, we go with the leg of Ephraim to help us win this game. 47 yard field goal attempt.. Snap is good.. Kick is up........ IT'S GOOOOOOOOD! GO CRAZZZZZZZZYYYYYYY! GO CRAZZZZZZZZZYYYYYYY!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH! THE AZTECS FINISH THE SEASON WITH 10 WINS!!!!! 10-2 SEASON CAPPED OFF WITH A GAME WINNING FIELD GOAL BY EPHRAIM! MY HERO!!!! Woooooohoooooooo!!! Garay 18-31 for 267 yards and 2 TD passes. Reese, the player of the game who continues his studliness over the past two months. 19 rushes for 161 yards! Tomich had 7 catches for 112 yards and 2 TD catches. What a victory that was. Wow wow wow......*SAVE!*

Team Notes I haven't quite finished the regular season left, there is still one more left to go. Here are the stats for the season, view the attachment. Sophomore's Clark and Tonnemaker both ended up with 9 sacks on the season. Garay is sitll in the hunt for the top quarterback award. He's got the 3rd highest amount of yards out of all QB's. 3577 yards. He's close to the top in TD's as well with 25. Utah will likely be left out of the GDCS Bowls again this year as they're ranked 7 in the GDCS polls. We're 31st. It will be interesting to see the awards. edited: forgot to attach stats

Bowl Bound We've been invited to the Nevada Bowl to face Washington State(7-4). The home of one of the best backs in the country, Sophomore Joe Garner(7/10). He garnered over 1500 yards rushing and 9 TDs. We'll have our hands full... Our defensive line is healthy for the big game as is our secondary. The only problems we're going to have on the defensive with injuries are LB Tatum and backup Sr DE Adamson(4/5). On offense however, Reese is hurting a little bit along with offensive linemen, Delong(3/6) and Ezerins(3/7). WR Hankton is also nursing a hurting thumb. Washington State will be favored in this game by 13 points. We won't have to worry about the quarterback dominating us as he's below average, but the receivers may make something happen. Like I said before as well, RB Joe Garner will be the key. We have to stop him to win. Washington State comes in as a consistent team on defense and offense, ranked 30th in both categories. The Aztecs, however, rank 40th offensively, but 95th defensively.

Week 18 - Bowl Game vs 7-4 Washington St. 1st Quarter We get the ball to start the game, so we'll stick with our running game to start and go to the air when we need too. Reese is just too hot not to stick with him at the moment. No where to go on the first carry from Reese. His second carry he got four yards but he was also penalized with an unnecessary roughness, which made it 3rd and 21 for us. We go to the air... Garay connects with Hankton and Garrett Hankton is brought down 24 yards later! 1st down. Two unsuccessful players later we face 3rd and 10 at the 48 yard line. Incomplete. Punt to the 12 yard line. 1st and 10 for Washington St. WSU runs a wishbone, which Air Force did as well and completely killed us with it. Hopefully we learned from our past mistakes and stop these guys. 3rd and 1, converted to keep the drive alive. 3rd and 1 converted again on a short gain from Garner. WSU has the ball on their own 37 yard line. WSU took it 14 plays for 51 yards before finally having to punt, which went into the endzone for a touchback! Finally we stopped them after they tried passing the ball on 2nd and 3rd. After a first down, we're forced to punt on 4th and 1 from out 39 yard line. So close to a first down. WSU punts it back to us 11 plays later as the 1st quarter comes to an end with the score 0-0. 2nd Quarter Drew Kennedy comes up with a 41 yard catch after Reese got stuffed the play before for a 7 yard loss(2nd and 17). 1st and 10 for the Aztecs on the 26 yard line of the Cougars. We get no where and eventually kick a 46 yard field goal which Ephraim misses! Wide left. 0-0 still. This Cougar club is pretty one-dimensional at this point in the game. They've been run-run-run. I've been able to do heavy blitzing without worrying about the quarterback beating me with his arm. This has been a back and forth battle so far with as having the only chance so far to score; the missed field goal. Seven minutes remain as we've got the ball back after a punt, our 18 yard line, first and 10. But we punt it back after 3 and out. 29 yard line for WSU with just over 5 minutes to go. Another punt for the Cougars with 3 minutes left in the half. We'll get another shot starting at our 17 yard line this time. We try something different and it doesn't pay off as we go deep to Tomich and it gets picked off, Cougar ball, their 44 yard line. But the defense continues to dominate as they force off another punt..this one rolls into the endzone so 1st and 10 for us again with less than a minute to go in the half. Drew Kennedy breaks a few tackles on the short route and gets tackled after gaining 47 yards! 41 seconds left and the ball spotted at the WSU 33 yard line! A first down and 15 seconds later, we've got the ball on the 17 yard line with 26 seconds to go. We're going to go in the air deeper to try to get a TD out of this, otherwise we'll take three. Tomich catches it down the sideline! FUMBLE! Recovered by WSU! Oooooh, man oh man. What a lucky break the Cougars get. Aw, crap. That's the half then. We're outgaining WSU 170 to 136. Nothing much happening. Garner has 16 carries for 42 yards. Reese has 7 carries for 6 yards. 3rd Quarter Washington State finally solves our defense as the go to the air while we're hoping for runs, and they get down to the 9 yard line where they throw another one this time for a touchdown. 7-0, WSU! After great field position and a first down to the 40 yard line of WSU, we get two holding penalties in a row to make it 2nd and 30 back in our territory. We get 10 of those yards back making it 3rd and 20. Incomplete, forced to punt from the 48 yard line. We punt it 44 yards to the 4 yard line! Here we go. Big stop now. We don't get a big stop right away but later on stop them, forcing them to punt it back to us. 1st and 10 at the 18 yard line for the Aztecs. REESE FUMBLES! Aaaaaahhhh. WSU ball on our 14 yard line. 14-0 just like that! Ouch. Ouch. Ouch. FUMBLE on the kickoff return! WSU Ball on our 14 yard line again! ****! BS! 21-0 JUST LIKE THAT. Oh, man. Whatever happened? We're having a complete meltdown. 4th Quarter We're buried back on our 3 yard line and Reese GETS BURIED in the endzone. Jeez. Everything just fell apart. 23-0. We get an interception and finally a score on a 7 yard pass from Garay to Tomich. 23-6 pending the 2 point conversion. No good. 23-6 it is. 9 minutes to play in the game. Bam bam bam. We get the ball back and pass pass pass right back into the ball game with 6:40 left to go. 23-13. We get the ball back after a touchback with 5 minutes to play. Whoo! Getting exciting for the fans now, eh. We arrive to 4th down, 10 yards to go on our 40 yard line. We have to go for it. Under four minutes to play. Incomplete. Ball back to the Cougars. We stop them with two minutse to play, no timeouts left for us though. We need to score quick and get the ball back on an onside kick. We get nothing going and that will be the ball game. 26-13(field goal as time expired. those jerks) after a rotten 3rd quarter. A rotten three minutes to start the 3rd quarter, that is. It was a great season for us. WE played a lot better than they did, they just got the damn breaks! That's what cost us all of last year and we let the mistakes get us today. It's okay, I'm proud of what we did.

Off season and post season stuff -Utah actually got a GDCS Bowl Game. They face a 11-1 Colorado team. -I don't know yet if I'll take another job offer. We had a good season. It may be time to take on some better talent, perhaps. -LSU wins the national championship while Utah upsets Colorado to get some major respect for the MWC! We want a BCS bid! We want a BCS bid! Heh. -I'm saying good bye to a crap load of seniors. 27 of them to be exact! We have 32 freshman, a lot of them are good, but I suspect next season could be a down year. Who knows though, we've got good young players. Evaluation: Team Performance: B (How not an A?) Talent: D (I can't believe I'm penalized for having a bad team) Recruiting: D Board Expectations: B (They said not to finish last. Hmm.) Prestige: A Overall: C+ (my highest grade yet) -My only job offer came from Tulsa, I immediately declined and will enjoy another season as the HC of the Aztecs.

Coach Hiring Both offense and defensive coordinators opted out of their contacts. I underpaid them to get under my budget last season, so I understand the moves. We get both coaches we offered for, a little under what they wanted, but that's all right. We've got $120,000 left over for the budget. Transfer Watch RB Drew Seymour(5/8) from Virginia, as high interest in joining our ranks. We sadly sign nobody during this period.

Offense Depth Chart - Depth Chart is posted in attachment. We've got the 74th best recruiting class. A little worse than last years class. We've got 27 freshman counting last years redshirt freshmen. Our expectations are the same as last year, "don't finish last." But we're actually predicted to finish fourth this year compared to every season being 7th! Nice! Depth Chart for Offense is Attached below. One thing I like what I see this year is our depth to the offensive line. We suffered a few injures last season which then I had to place guys here and there out of position. I've got a great Freshman, who is going to redshirt this year. Fr J.T. Elam(3/6) will be backing up our tackles, but Fr Ted Luce (3/7) will be redshirted. The WR position seems to be well-rounded again, but we don't have the big playmaker like we had in Tomich though. We'll see what happens. Denson will get the nod on game one, but who knows what will happen. We've had two different starters in the last two years, Denson two years then Reese last year. Reese is listed 3rd on the depth chart at the moment. Darnerian Delhomme, after being a freshman starter became a backup for two seasons, one year behind Garay and he actually redshirted his senior year. So here he is again as a senior. Hopefully he can be better than his first two seasons here.

Defense Depth Chart - posted in attachment. We had a great class of linebackers come in this year through recruiting. We'll have one of the best linebacker corps in the MWC in two years, that's for sure. Our corners will be average this year, probably a little below average. Jr K Ephraim(6/8) will keep kicking the field goals, and Sophomore Eric Plum(7/7) will be punting again this year. There are players that aren't on the depth chart because they're being redshirted, so you aren't seeing every good player. For example, OG Gary Joseph(3/8) is redshirting. Let's get the season underway shall we?

Week One @ Boston College - BC favored by a whoppin' 20 points. We get to play a good BC team. Last season they went 7-5 and this year they should do much better with ... wow, they're stacked. I should not have scheduled them, this is going to be a massacre! Let's just say that I hope we can keep up with them offensively. 1st Quarter Not a good start for Delhomme as he throws a pick on the 2nd play of the opening drive. Ouch. 7-0 after a quick touchdown, Boston College leads. After two nothing runs, we bring in Reese, the big time running back from last season. His first run he takes it for 17 yards and a first down! 7 plays, 48 yards ends in a Ephraim field goal. 7-3. BC takes it down the field for another touchdown. 14-3. 7 minutes to go still, 1st quarter. Delhomme isn't going to last much longer if he keeps it up. After what looked to be a nice drive, Delhomme threw another pick. His 2nd on the evening. We were able to stop them this time forcing them to punt it 28 yards to our 18 yard line where Rogers received it, made a move or five and took it 82 yards for the touchdown! 14-10! 2:44 left in the first. 2nd Quarter BC drove all the way down to our 31 yard line and on 2nd and 10, ILB Michael Dawkins came through the line untouched for a 5 yard loss on a sack, bringing up 3rd and 15. They sadly convert for the first down, and on the next play, the defense at it again as Triplett sacks the QB this time. 3rd and 11 is converted into a touchdown pass. 21-10. 13 minutes to play in the half. We punt it back after our possession. On the first play of BC's drive Tonnemaker now gets a sack! That's the third sack of the day. We just need to stop them on 3rd down now. They're 4/5 on 3rd down conversions. We decide it's time to give up on Delhomme who's 5/12, 50 yards, 2 interceptions so far. Time for Sophomore, Don Mucker(3/4) to come into play after our defense makes a stop here. Mucker's first pass is a 6 yard completion for a first down after his scramble of four yards. After a stupid defensive audible, BC scores on a 51 yard touchdown pass. 28-10. More than a minute to playin the half. 3rd Quarter The whole third quarter is just a field position battle, punt after punt after punt. Scoreless third leaves it 28-10 Boston College. 4th Quarter BC finally ends the scoreless half with a touchdown. 35-10, 9 minutes to go. The final score ends up being 45-17. I should have known better to look at the BC team before agreeing to play with them. Oh, well. Last year we lost to a good Arizona St team to open the season, nothin' wrong with losing to a good quality team. Pretty awful game all around. I suspect that Clemson will be just as difficult to play against, but it can't be that much worse than this one. Reese was the only shining spot of the day, 21 carries for 99 yards. Neither quarterback is a sure thing for next week to start. So, we'll just keep platooning them until one performs better than the other. Weeee! Controversy.

Week 2 @ Clemson (0-0) - Clemson is favored by 17 points. Not as bad as last game! There is hope after all! Delhomme gets the start again this week. This tiem Reese starts over Denson. Clemson is just barely worse than Boston College. So maybe they'll make some mistakes that BC normally wouldn't allowing us to WIN! 1st Quarter Our defense holds Clemson to a 3 and out to start the ball game. Once again our defense stops Clemson, and this time Houston returns the punt 37 yards into Clemson territory, the 47 yard line. 1st and 10. Ah, poo. Our 38 yard field goal is blocked after failing to convert 3rd and 2. Clemson ball on their 30 yard line. Bootie Bland(4/7) is going to be benched if he gets called for anymore holds. He had two last week and one now causing us to have 1st and 20 instead of a 2nd and 2. This year I actually have guys I can replace him with, so I'm not scared to do it this time around. We get back into field goal range and this time from 32 yards out we actually make it! 3-0 Aztecs. 2nd Quarter 7-3 as Clemson goes down the field for six. With less than four minutes to go, we intercept a Clemson pass and it's our ball on our 14 yard line, 1st and 10. It was a hail mary pick, they weren't getting anywhere with their drives at all so far. But neither am I. We had 4th down and 16 on our 35 yard line.. We bring in Ephraim for a 53 yard field goal. The snap, nope, wistle blows.. False start! Arrgh. 58 yarder then? Why not? What could go wrong with less than a minute left in the half. The kick is up! AND GOOD!! 58 yards! Ephraim. 7-6, almost half time. Our defense breaks down and gives up a 50 yard pass, but we were able to keep them from getting into the endzone, thus they settled for a field goal as we head into half time. 10-6! *growl* 3rd Quarter We get to mid field before having to punt it. A 51 yard punt is stopped on the two yard line! Woohoo. Go defense go! First play there is a holding call.. 2nd play they run a screen, but they have no time against my BLITZERS! SACKED, SAFETY! 10-8! 13-8 after Clemson got a few 3rd downs to bring them to field goal range. 2 minutes to play in the 3rd quarter. We've got a good game. BOOBIE BLAND IS GONNNNNNNE! HOLDING #2 of the game. 4 on the season. Buh bye buddy. You just lost your job to a freshman. F'in loser. J.T. Elam(3/6) will be a good filler! No problem there. Aww, fark. A first down pass is cancelled out thanks to fumble on WR Marshal. Damn. This could hurt us big time. 4th Quarter We get the ball back after a 41 yard Clemson punt that is downed on our 3. Yummy. We punt it 44 yards after a 3 and out, that punt is returned 22 yards to our 24 yard line. Eeks. We need to hold them to a field goal to stay within one score. But we can't hold them from a touchdown. 21-8, 10 minutes to go in the ball game. They got the 2 pointer. We have to punt. And with 6 minutes to go, we get the ball back on our 9 yard line. NOt very good field position for the most part today. Nothing else would come up for the rest of the game. The final score is 21-8 as Clemson defeats the freakin' Aztecs. We were in this game the whole way, but we weren't able to get a TD! Ah, well. Bad start, but it's a long season.

Week 4 @ Colorado St - Rams 13 point favorites I don't see how they're favored by that much, and I also don't see them scoring that much on us either. 1st Quarter After a 3 and out for CSU, they punted it to us which we returned to the CSU 24 yard line, gained two yards and eventually kicked a 40 yard field goal for a quick 3-0 lead. CSU comes back with three o their own after a lucky 46 yard gain which has been all of their yards so far this game. After a good drive, it ends with WR Marshal fumbling it into the hands of the CSU defenders. 1st and 10 for CSU at their own 10 yard line now. WR Houston continues to dominate the special teams game returning a punt 69 yards for the touchdown. He already had a 31 yard return earlier in the game. He's a stud! And he's only a sophomore! He had a TD last year too, I recall. 10-3 Aztecs. 2nd Quarter 10-6 after a CSU field goal with 10 minutes to go in the half. On our drive to answer the Rams field goal, we ran the ball with Reese a few times and Reese had to come out, so we remembered two seasons ago when Denson would catch a lot of balls out of the back field. We ran a screen which went for 46 yards for the touchdown! 17-6. CSU after a few changes of possession comes back towards the end of the half to make it 17-13 after an impressive drive. Delhomme making quite an impression on me so far, he's 14 of 17(an incomplete pass on a hail mary to end the half), 144 yards and a TD. 3rd Quarter We take advantage of having the ball to start the half and take it 56 yards before finally getting three points of Ephraim's leg for a 20-13 lead. Reese has 14 carries, 100 yards so far! He's so good, it's weird. WR Mike Hudson receives the ball from Delhomme from 13 yards out for a touchdown! 27-13 with a little time remaining in the 3rd quarter. *This just in* "Vegas accidently had the wrong team listed in the box for who was favored in the game." Boo yah! CSU comes right back with a touchdown of their own, making it 27-20 as time runs out in the 3rd. 4th Quarter After back to back punts, Houston takes a 40 yard punt from CSU and takes it 30 yards to midfield! Good field position and a good chance to put this game away. But that doesn't happen as Delhomme throws a pick on 3rd down. We were able to get the ball back and a 21 yard drive(nice punt return, this time by rogers) is capped off by a 46 yard Ephraim field goal. 30-20 with five minutes to play in the game. We hold CSU to a three and out, but they do the same on us and get good field position on our 46 yard line with under two minutes to play. Johnny Wonsley makes sure CSU doesn't do anything else for the rest of the game by getting an interception to put the nail in the coffin. That's the ball game. 30-20, and we're on our way to winning the conference. Delhomme was 25/35, 254 yards passing, 2 TDs and a pick thrown. Reese ran 29 times for 135 yards. Both of our earlier opponents have won every game and are each 3-0.

Week 5 vs Air Force - AF by 5 Here's our one big game of the year against Air Force, who every year the board hopes we don't get blown out by these guys. They're picked to beat us yet again, but like last year, that's doubtful. It should be another high scoring affair like last year, but I suspect we'll come out on top again. Once again, they've got Junior RB Don Jones(10/10!) who we'll need to contain in order to win this game. 1st Quarter After a few changes in possession, Air Force comes up with a touchdown to take a 7-0 lead midway through the first quarter. Ouch, Air Force comes back with another touchdown. 14-0. 2nd Quarter 14-7 after a good, solid drive by the young Aztec team. 4 minutes to go in the half. Air Force answers back with a 48 yard field goal to make it 17-7 with over a minute to go in the half. 3rd Quarter Pretty even battle so far this game, stat-wise, we're just not coming up with the big plays. Argh! Air Force gets another touchdown after 3rd and goal on the 10 yard line. 24-7. 24-10 after an Ephraim field goal. 4 to play in the 3rd. 4th Quarter A 6 play, 71 yard drive is capped off with a big play from Delhomme to Kennedy, 50 yards out! 24-17 with 9 minutes to go in the game. LB Fred Abramowicz(lol at name), comes up with a big interception during our defensive stand! Aztec ball at mid field. after a ten yard return. The Cougars had good field position, our 35 yard line after a nice return and penalty. Well, na na na our ball now. After two punts, Houston returned the Cougar punt 30 yards for a first and 10 at our 44 yard line with 3:30 to go! Delhomme throws an interception on the AF 12 yard line! Ooh, no! We were going to tie it up too! 1:50 to go. 3 Timeouts for us. A quick 3 and out later, we've got the ball back at our 29 yard line with over a minute to play. A huge 56 yard punt and no return will make it tough for us. With 42 seconds left and things not looking good with 4th and 10 on our 41 yard line. We do a mid route on a post and Houston slipped a tackler and broke to the outside where he took it 59 yards for the touchdown! TIE BALL GAME ! WOwzers! 27 seconds to go for AF to take it down and score. OVERTIME! Overtime Ugh, all Air Force needed was three plays to get a TD. Yay, we only needed TWO plays for a touchdown. 2nd OT We start out this time only with a field goal after we couldn't do anything whatsoever. Air Force, goes incomplete pass, incomplete pass, incomplete pass and false start then finally kicks a 48 yard field goal to tie it up. Dang! 3rd OT AF goes incomplete, 4 yard run loss, incomplete! 47 yard field goal is good! We go incomplete, 10 yard first down catch. 9 yard run. 2nd and 1 is a no gain. No gain again on a QB scramble. Ouch. 4th and 1. I wanna go for it. Ouch. We don't get the first down again from one yard out. Game over. Dumb coaching mistake by me. Game over, 40-37 Air Force wins.

You should have took the 3 but if you are in this situation again, you know what to do next time but hey, you have a lot of balls to go for the win. Even though I know better to go for the win, I would have done it myself in that situation myself. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, but you live to play another day!!!!!!!!!
