Final: Angry Gilmore vs. Eric Eisen

Eisen might make little bit more sence with Money as the champ but I still go with Angry based on the angles that has been happening in last two or so shows.

Rich Money vs. Chris Morrisette – non-title

Even though it´s non-title I just don´t see Money losing this one, so Morrisette makes a brave effort and gets close but eventually falls slighly short.

Gregory Black vs. Frederique Garcia – non-title

I give this one to Black since I expect McClean´s team to win in PPV.

Suzanne Brazzle and Joanne Rodriguez vs. Melody Cuthill and Lauren Easter

Faces takes the win by pinning Cuthill and gets title shots for their trouble.

Jack Giedroyc and The Colony vs. Vengeance’ Acolytes and Primus

Colony are jobbers at this point, right?

Kurt Laramee and James Hernandez vs. Steve Flash and Gino Montero

Hard to say were this one is going but I would keep Flash strong.

Kurt Laramee and James Hernandez vs. Steve Flash and Gino Montero

Four men with a point to prove, perhaps, to potential teammates ahead of Thursday’s show opened the night. If the four men were working for a chance to take part at Break Like The Wind, then Laramee had an odd way of showing his calibre – he scarcely seemed interested in his partner’s plight when he wasn’t in the ring. He dealt out some bruising slams, but made no attempt to aid Hernandez when Montero distracted the referee, allowing Spencer Spade to slide in and catch Hernandez with a low blow. From there, Montero could catch Hernandez with a Montero Press for the win.

Jerry:
Was Spade helping Montero, or hurting Hernandez?

Ana:
We should find out more about the makeup of Robbie Retro and Spencer Spade’s teams as the night goes on, but what was Kurt Laramee doing?

Winners: Flash and Montero (C-)

Backstage, Christian Faith, Aaron Andrews and Jake Marlowe were stood in the centre of a locker room. As the camera pulled back, it revealed the presence of almost two dozen members of the roster.

Jerry:
Hush. There’s James Hernandez and KC Glenn and William Hayes... A lot of talent in the room.

Faith:
Gentlemen, thanks for coming. I wanted to confirm that the battle royal set to take place tomorrow night comes with a guarantee of a spot on the Break Like The Wind pay-per-view this Thursday. That spot will be as the final member of Faith In The Future – my team to take on Swoop McCarthy’s Big Money team.

The group looked around at one another, some of them sharing smiles, others clearly eyeing up the competition.

Faith:
We know that Runaway Train and Steven Parker will be on his team. We don’t know who the fourth man is – maybe Brandon James. Whoever it is, it’ll be great experience, and a real chance to learn and maybe make a name for yourself. I hope whoever wins will give their all, because I’ll have your faith and I’ll have faith... in you.

Gregory Black vs. Frederique Garcia

This match was much clearer in its Break Like The Wind implications, with Garcia confirmed alongside Squeeky McClean in facing Black’s team at the event. Garcia used his veteran guile to try and break up Black’s flow, but for the most part didn’t try and take control of the match. The reason why became clear when McClean...

...slid into the ring and jumped Black, drawing the DQ, and leading to a two-man beatdown on the North American champion.

Ana:
Bah, McClean is absolutely conscienceless.

Duane:
He’s softening up an opponent ahead of a big match. He should be applauded for initiative.

Ana:
Do you ever listen to what you’re saying?

Winner: Gregory Black (B)

Squeeky stood over Black, with Garcia guarding against intervention from Dawn on the outside. Squeeky shrugged as he looked down at his rival.

McClean:
You and me, Greg, we’ve been around the horn a few times. We’ve been in teams, we’ve been in singles matches, and it’s always been good, clean, fun. But we’re moving up in the world, you and I, and you have to learn to have eyes in the back of your head. It’s not personal, but you’ve got something I want-

He glanced at Garcia, who was smiling suggestively at Dawn.

McClean:
-and maybe something Freddy wants, although that’s for you guys to sort out on your own time. Now, when you wake up, just remember that you’re going to be in the ring with a man who knows dirty, and who knows clean. And just because I always fight clean...

McClean:
...doesn’t mean that I won’t get dirty if I need to.

Jerry:
What a jerk! I hope Greg wipes the floor with him on Thursday.

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/JackBruce.jpghttp://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/SteveFrehley.jpghttp://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/ChrisMorrisette.jpg

Backstage, Jack Bruce was pacing up and down in his locker room, alternating directions with Steve Frehley. The two men were criss-crossing the room at speed, clearly with a great deal of steam to blow off. Chris Morrisette watched them with concern in his eyes.

Morrisette:
Guys... It’s just business, remember? We can’t touch Succession tonight, they can’t touch us, so we cool our heels and wait for Thursday. Then we show up, we fight and we get our checks at the end of the night. It’s just business.

Bruce:
Troy made this personal.

Bruce didn’t miss a beat as he kept on stalking back and forth, gesturing with one hand.

Bruce:
He cost me another shot at the World title, and he won’t give me a straight rematch. He wants to prove he’s the man, the headliner, Hendrix at Woodstock, LedZep at MSG... He wants to be the Beatles at Shea!

Morrisette held up his hands.

Morrisette:
I get it... Steve, talk some sense into him?

Frehley barely broke stride.

Frehley:
The man has a point, Chris. The Succession are out of line, and it’s up to us to stop them. They need to be run out of town, and this is one man who won’t quit, check or no check.

Morrisette sighed.

Morrisette:
I get it – you’re worked up. But I shouldn’t need to tell you guys that getting worked up isn’t going to help come Thursday night. You need to be in the zone, be ready for whatever Succession throw at you.

Frehley and Bruce stopped, and exchanged glances. Bruce nodded.

Bruce:
Chris... You’re right. Listen, there’s something you need to know ahead of Thursday. We would’ve told you earlier, but we had to know this wasn’t gonna leak.

Morrisette:
What?

Frehley:
Who our fourth man is.

Morrisette:
Who?

Frehley passed his phone to Morrisette.

Frehley:
Last few calls.

Morrisette checked. His eyes widened.

Morrisette:
Him?

He looked at his team-mates. They nodded.

Morrisette:
How?

Frehley:
He has some issues with Golden and Tornado.

And Chord. And he says Devine needs a good old fashioned shakedown too.

Morrisette:
Wow.

Frehley:
So we’ve got our ace in the hole, and that’ll do for Thursday, but this is bigger than Thursday.

Morrisette:
Well, I guess you guys have to follow your paths. I can’t say I’m as worked up about Succession as you are – or
he
is – but this Thursday, at least, I’m as ready to kick their asses as you are.

Suzanne Brazzle and Joanne Rodriguez vs. Melody Cuthill and Lauren Easter

After the beatdown on Grace Harper a couple of weeks’ ago, this match continued the rivalry between the Vixxens. The four women all showed strong form, with Cuthill making her Supreme TV in-ring debut but looking unfazed by the event. However, the appearance of Grace Harper at ringside took Cuthill’s attention away from Brazzle, allowing the Blonde Bombshell to make the tag. Rodriguez quickly scaled the corner post and drilled the inattentive Cuthill with a J-Rocker for the win.

Duane:
I suppose you’ll call that justice for Harper?

Ana:
Not yet – but a step in the right direction, yes.

Winner: Brazzle and Rodriguez (C-)

Eddie Cornell marched to the ring, looking totally confident.

Duane:
He’s still here?

Jerry:
He’s been fighting hard on Uprising every week.

Duane:
Win any matches yet?

Jerry:
Well, no.

Cornell got in the ring and picked up a mic.

Cornell:
Well, now, what have we got here? A big show coming up, and none of the monkeys in charge have given me a ring on the old dog and bone. That is just a load of bollocks, frankly.

Cornell:
Now, listen up. If any of you pansies backstage have got the minerals to step up and take on one of this business’s proper nawty ‘ard men then come out now. It’s okay. I won’t beat yer too badly.

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/BrandonJames.jpghttp://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/EmmaChase.jpg

Brandon James’ music played and the former North American champion walked out, accompanied by Emma Chase.

Chase:
My client would like to know who you think you are. As he was robbed of his place in the World title match, he doesn’t qualify for a match this Thursday night... but you think you can just demand one and make it happen?

Cornell:
‘Sup, love? Yer know, I was talking to old man Tyler backstage, an’ he reckoned that if I came out here, givin’ it some of this-

He mimed flapping his jaws with one hand.

Cornell:
-then your client would be out here faster ‘n a whippet with its arse full of dynamite. Now, I know ‘e calls himself Big Money, and I want to get me ‘ands on some big money, dun I? So this Thursday, ‘ow’s about he does me a favour and get in the ring with me, so I can give ‘im the ‘iding ‘is mum never game ‘im, and then I can find myself a nuclear that serves some proper beer, and not the watered down piss you Yanks ‘ave on tap.

Brandon James took the mic from Chase.

James:
You are a deluded and insensible individual. Breaking you will be closer to actual bodily harm than a true contest of skill and strength. Nevertheless... it is true that I have budgeted for a pay-per-view appearance this month, and my ongoing investments will require that additional injection of funding. As you appear to be the best on offer, with so many more...
experienced
possibilities tied up in the survival matches, then you will have to do.

Cornell:
Underestimate me all you want, mate. I’ll tell you now, you’re for a rough ride!

James scowled, but said nothing as he walked away, Emma Chase following in his wake.

Ana:
Is Eddie Cornell delusional?

Duane:
Well, you know, his cousin was an interesting character too...

In a corridor backstage Robbie Retro was talking to James Hernandez as well as Red and Green of the Colony.

Duane:
With just two nights to go until Break Like The Wind, I assume Retro is securing his team for the survival match.

Ana:
That’s three great young stars right there. Retro appears more than most on Uprising, so he’ll know who’s who and what they can do.

Jerry:
Here’s a little known fact you may not know... Robbie’s had more matches than anyone else in SWF this year. He’s deadly serious about improving and moving up the rankings.

Duane:
I think you should find better material, Jerry.

Swoop McCarthy strutted down to the ring, Runaway Train following at a more sedate pace, Emma Chase bringing up the rear, her eyes glued to her clipboard. The young Australian vaulted into the ring and grabbed a mic.

McCarthy:
G’day! Now, let’s get one thing straight: No-one’s fit to take on the Wall of Muscle. The big man there-

He pointed at Train, who had only just reached the end of the aisle.

McCarthy:
-has got more power in his jockstrap than a herd of stampeding ‘roos. And as for me, I’ve got stamina, speed, charisma, athleticism and to let you in on a little secret...

He pulled down his sunglasses and winked at the crowd.

McCarthy:
...I’m no slouch on the strength front meself. Now, we’ve picked ourselves some real tought challengers tonight. A real legendary tag team, one of the all-time great pairings. No messing – these guys have got a reputation that speaks for itself, so without further ado, please welcome the Maryland Alliance!

for the
SWF World Tag Team titles

Duane:
The Alliance were big names on the indy scene a few years ago.

Ana:
Nowadays, they look a little...

Jerry:
Podgy?

There wasn’t much action to the match. The Alliance had thirty seconds at the start to show some spirited teamwork before Runaway Train caught them both in the corner with his charge. From there, Train and Swoop showed teamwork of their own, demolishing their challengers en route to victory via an Epic Fail.

Ana:
Well, that’s a week off for the champions, right?

Duane:
They won, just as Mr Tyler said they had to.

Winners: Wall of Muscle (D+)

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/ChristianFaith.jpghttp://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/SteveFrehley.jpg

Christian Faith was sitting quietly backstage, polishing the chrome on his bike. Steve Frehley walked up, and the Iron Man nodded to his friend.

Frehley:
Got a minute?

Faith:
Sure.

Frehley began pacing, much as he had been earlier in the night.

Frehley:
I was wondering if you had a second for your match tonight.

Faith:
No.

Frehley:
These Succession punks... They’re bad news, Christian. I know you said you didn’t want to get involved-

Faith:
These things sort themselves out over time. I’m too old to get into all that, Steve.

Frehley:
I know, I know, but just because you don’t want to get involved, doesn’t mean they won’t get you involved anyway. You’re putting yourself up as the yardstick of the next generation. How do you think that looks to these punks?

Faith paused, frowning slightly.

Frehley:
Let me go out there with you, Full Force, right? I won’t start nothing – just let me have your back.

Faith looked up at his friend.

Faith:
You won’t start anything?

Frehley:
You have my word. I can’t lay a finger on them until Thursday anyway... although if I know Tyler, he might overlook a little bending of the rules if it’s justified...

Faith thought it over for a couple of seconds, then nodded. Frehley grinned, and slammed a fist into the other palm.

Frehley:
You won’t regret it.

Elsewhere, Dawn the Cheerleader was sitting on a packing crate, clearly enjoying being serenaded by Harry Allen as he strummed a guitar and crooned along. In the foreground, Gregory Black and Steve Gumble were shadow-boxing, or rather, shadow-kicking. Standing side by side they mirrored one another’s kicks – roundhouses, thrust kicks, capoeira kicks. As Black pivoted and thrust his heel towards the ceiling, Gumble shook his head and repeated the motion, indicating some difference between the two. Black nodded thoughtfully and repeated it twice, getting a nod from Gumble on the second time.

Ana:
It seems like Black’s found a kindred spirit.

Duane:
So’s Dawn, apparently...

Jack Giedroyc and The Colony vs. Vengeance’ Acolytes and Primus

Primus may only have been a part of the Heart of Darkness for a few weeks, but he showed impressive understanding with his teammates here. In truth, the hulking Primus fairly dominated the smaller Colony duo, and only Giedroyc had much success against him. However, Vengeance’ followers did their best to isolate Giedroyc, with DuBois handling much of the Brit’s intense offence, before the match broke down into a six-man brawl and DuBois was able to catch Green in the face with a fireball to stun him for the win.

Ana:
Green can count himself lucky he’s got a mask on – he shouldn’t be burnt too badly.

Jerry:
Who’s going to stop Primus? He’s as bad as Vengeance!

Winners: Heart of Darkness (B-)

In Mr Tyler’s office BJ O’Neill was sat between the Samoan Wildboyz and the Samoan Swat Machines. The Wildboyz were glowering at their older brothers, who were smirking at them in response.

The door banged open and Mr Tyler strode in.

Mr Tyler:
Let’s get right to the point. This family feud you four have going on needs to be settled. Wildboyz, you’ve been here longer and you’ve racked up a lot of gold. Machines, the way I see it, you’ve done more overseas and you seem like you’ve had the edge since you got here. O’Neill, any thoughts?

O’Neill:
Well, they could both bring teams to Break Like The Wind on Thursday and settle it there, Mr Tyler.

Mr Tyler frowned.

Mr Tyler:
It’ll do – for now. If this isn’t settled on Thursday night, I’ll find a way to settle it next week, do you understand? You’ve been interfering in each others’ matches for long enough. It’s time to settle this properly, because you’re ballsing things up for other people when you get involved in scheduled matches.

Brave:
Eric, we had some ideas-

He stopped, frozen in place by the look on Mr Tyler’s face.

Mr Tyler:
Remember your place, Kid.

Toma:
Hey, we got you your job!

Mr Tyler:
I got me my job. You helped, and since then you’ve been the tag champs, which more than repaid whatever debt I owed you. Quit trying to play a card that got taken from you three hands back.

He rounded on Umaga and Bali.

Mr Tyler:
As for you two, I brought you in on the basis you’d add something to the tag division here, not screw around with the equivalent of short-sheeting your brothers’ beds. You’re taking this company’s money. Act like you know what that means, or I’ll have you canned for breach of contract and make your lives a living hell while you try and find work anywhere else in this industry. And believe me, when I want to make someone’s life hell, that’s what happens.

Bali and Umaga exchanged glances.

Mr Tyler:
Quit interfering in each others’ matches, quit attacking each other and quit sending whining e-mails home to your mommy, because I don’t need her calling me ten times a day.

He glared at Toma, who looked abashed.

Mr Tyler:
Settle it Thursday or I’ll settle it for you.

Christian Faith and Aaron Andrews vs. Rocky Golden and Darryl Devine

Although the four men will be on different teams on Thursday night, the intensity between the two sides wasn’t lacking here. Golden in particular seemed to want to measure himself against Faith, a chance he won’t get again unless Faith’s willing to stretch his definition of ‘up and comer’ to accommodate the Succession man.

Even though the match may have nominally not been about the two sides respective rivalries, they still intruded on a hard-fought contest. Swoop McCarthy was the first to get involved, charging the ring to attack Andrews. Before the referee could call the match, however, Steve Frehley entered the ring...

...and nearly broke Devine in two with an almighty clothesline.

Duane:
What’s Frehley doing?

Jerry:
I don’t think Faith agreed to
that
.

Faith was torn between helping Andrews, who was struggling with Swoop, and going after Frehley, who was raining in blows on Devine. Golden watched on, seemingly unwilling to get involved.

Faith settled for tackling Frehley off Devine before grabbing Swoop and planting him with a bulldog. As Andrews got to his feet, Frehley glared at Faith before leaving the ring and walking off. Andrews and Faith were left with Devine and Golden, the latter helping his teammate to his feet. The opponents cast wary glances at one another, but with the match over they parted ways without further conflict.

Jerry:
And Swoop’s already run for it.

Ana:
He did what he set out to do, I guess.

Winners: No-one (B)

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/MrEricTyler.jpg

Mr Tyler was shown leaving his office and walking down a corridor. On the way, he passed BJ O’Neill, Bali, Umaga and Red and Green. The latter two were shaking their heads, apparently refusing an offer made to them by the Samoan trio.

Tyler passed them without comment, as well as saying nothing to Angry and Jessie Gilmore, Gregory Black or Marc DuBois as he passed them backstage. Eventually he walked out onto the stage beneath the Supremescreen.

Mr Tyler:
Before anyone asks – and someone will, I know – Frehley just earned himself a five thousand dollar fine for attacking Darryl Devine without due cause. If any other member of the Showtime/Succession match wants to break one of my rules, I won’t be as generous. Bigger fines, suspensions, pink slips... Try me.

The expression on his face made it perfectly clear that he was ready and willing to exercise his authority.

Mr Tyler:
Moving on...Ladies and gentlemen, I’d like to believe that you and me aren’t too different. We all appreciate people who fight to the last, we all appreciate a good story, and none of us want to see the World champion get a month off when whoever wins tonight will have gone through four hard matches to get their title shot.

Mr Tyler:
I’m not prepared to put Rich Money in a title match tonight. We’ve put a lot of money into advertising him as the main event for Thursday night – we had to, as we don’t know who he’ll be facing. Still, I don’t think being in a non-title match will make any difference to how hard his opponent fights tonight, especially as a win would make it hard to deny him the World title shot he’s never had before. So I know I want to see this match tonight. I think you will too – Rich Money against Chris Morrisette!

Jerry:
Now that’s a match!

Ana:
Gilmore and Eisen will both be watching this closely – not only to see the champ in action, but they have to know that Morrisette could be in their future if they win on Thursday night.

Rich Money vs. Chris Morrisette

Money was cautious in the opening exchanges of the match, allowing Morrisette to make the early running. If Morrisette was at all overawed by the occasion, he didn’t show it, and took control of the match at a pace that seemed to leave the World champion slightly lagging.

Money rallied, however, and slowly built momentum. He let Morrisette expend energy by trying to keep the tempo high, but managed time and again to break his opponent’s flow at just the right – or wrong – moment. At the first sign that Morrisette was starting to flag, Money stepped up the tempo on his own part. Morrisette did his best to keep up, and indeed managed a couple of flow-breaking moves of his own, including a neckbreaker that earned a desperately close two count. However, he wasn’t able to wholly keep Money on the back foot, and an attempt at a Lobster Trap was smartly reversed into a Money In The Bank from which Morrisette couldn’t escape.

Duane:
What a match!

Jerry:
I want more! Another night, Morrisette would have that – and if he learns his lessons, another night he will have that.

Ana:
Money will have learnt from that match too... but I agree, rematch, please!

Winner: Rich Money (A)

In a locker room backstage Spencer Spade and Paul Huntingdon were deep in conversation. When a knock on the door came, Huntingdon gestured vaguely, not looking up, and Steadfast walked silently across to the door. He opened it, and Gino Montero stepped into the room. Spade stood up and greeted him warmly, gesturing him to a seat between himself and Huntingdon. As Montero sat down, Steadfast shut the door and returned to his position as the other three fell into a deep conversation.

Ana:
I think we can see Spencer Spade’s team for Thursday night taking shape.

Duane:
Huntingdon and Montero on the same side? Weird.

Ana:
Before we get to tonight’s main event, let’s take a look at all the action we’ve seen in the last few weeks...

Supreme TV – 16th October

Tyler
:
We’re going to have a tournament to see who deserves the shot at the SWF World champion, Rich Money, at Break Like The Wind.

Money:
One or sixteen, or any number in between. I don’t care. It doesn’t matter who it is. Whoever comes out on top in four weeks... they’re not money.

In the first round, Eric Eisen pinned Jake Marlowe with his feet on the ropes, while Vengeance obliterated Aaron Andrews with a Skull Krusher while Giedroyc, Valiant and the Acolytes brawled.

Brandon James lined up a Big Money Move-

James:
What lies ahead for my four opponents is a lot of pain

-and wiped out Robbie Retro with the move. His ally, Runaway Train, however was less fortunate as Angry Gilmore landed an Anger Management for the three count.

Also in the first round, Steve Frehley took out his frustrations on Freddy Garcia with a brutal victory before Troy Tornado took everything Kurt Laramee threw at him and scored with a Star Maker for the win.

Duane:
Tornado is a great wrestler.

In the final first round matches Jack Bruce defeated Squeeky McClean, while Chris Morrisette-

Morrisette:
In over a decade here in the SWF I’ve never had a World title shot. I think I deserve one.

-went one on one with Rocky Golden in a titanic brawl, eventually emerging victorious with a Lobster Trap.

Before Morrisette could celebrate he was jumped by Golden, their brawl degenerating into one featuring almost all of the quarter-final entrants... only Eric Eisen holding back, watching from safety as his seven rivals laid into one another.

Supreme TV – 23rd October

In the first quarter-final match Steve Frehley powered his way past Eric Eisen... until a rough landing left his shoulder with a big fat target on it. Eric was quick to exploit it, leaving Frehley unable to kick out of a cradle.

Duane:
It can be easy to take Eric Eisen lightly, but he knows his stuff.

As Jack Bruce squared off with Vengeance, the Long Island Angel seemed to be struggling against the monstrous masked man. However, in the end he emerged triumphant, though at the cost of a beatdown from the Heart of Darkness.

In the next match Brandon James and Chris Morrisette put on a stellar match, the gutsy Morrisette taking a lot of damage but giving plenty back. The match see-sawed back and forth, but in the end it was a Big Money Move that ended Morrisette’s dream – for now, at least.

Before the main event Troy Tornado took delight in mocking his rival Jack Bruce, refusing him a rematch. During the match, that came back to haunt him. At the end of a thrilling contest between the two evenly-matched competitors it was the appearance of Jack Bruce that caused the split-second distraction to Tornado that allowed Gilmore to take the win. Gilmore wasn’t happy with Bruce’s intervention, though, and decked Bruce, leaving him vulnerable to a Star Maker from Tornado.

Money:
Gilmore has his game together. Interesting...

Supreme TV – 2nd November

Duane:
Tonight we’ll be down to two.

In the first semi-final, perennial rivals Jack Bruce and Eric Eisen tore into one another in the first of the night’s Supreme Challenge rematches. Bruce seemed to have the decisive advantage, despite the presence of the Succession at ringside, but the intervention of Troy Tornado proved decisive, repaying the favour from the previous week with a baseball bat shot to leave Bruce down and prey to Eisen.

After the win, Eisen was celebrating backstage when Money crashed the party, trying out Eisen’s champagne.

Money:
Not bad. You’ll have to let me have your supplier, Eric. After all, there won’t be anything much for
you
to celebrate next week.

In the main event Angry Gilmore faced off against Brandon James in the second Supreme Challenge rematch.

James:
Three months ago, you beat me. . I won’t deny it – recognising my failures and resolving the errors that led to them makes me stronger, more dominant. I am the strongest, I am the most intelligent, I am the most vicious... I am the next SWF World champion.

Gilmore:
I’ve taken my chances, and I’m here before you, and as you say yourself, I beat you last time we fought.

Gilmore:
Learning from your mistakes is a good idea. Planning well enough that you can adapt to your mistakes before they cost you... That’s an even better idea. I’m not saying you won’t win tonight. You might do... but I’m not going to make it easy for you.

The second semi-final was even more of a thriller than the Supreme Challenge contest. Gilmore was sharper, and Big Money more ruthless, and when James landed the Big Money Move it seemed he had it won – only
Gilmore
to make the cover, having used James’ momentum against him to land an Anger Management and score the pin.

As Gilmore and Jessie embraced, Rich Money walked out onto the stage, the World title held aloft.

Jerry:
Money has the belt, and something tells me he’s not ready to give it up anytime soon.

Ana:
The presence of Rich Money looms large over the SWF.

Money:
It doesn’t matter who it is. Whoever comes out on top... they’re not money.

#1 Contender Tournament Final:
#7
Angry Gilmore vs.
#4
Eric Eisen

If either contender was feeling concerned about the strong showing entered by the World champion just moments before, they didn’t show it. Eisen offered a handshake at the start of the match, only to yank his hand back and laugh as Lauren Easter cheered him on at ringside. Gilmore shook his head, amused, and shared a look with Jessie in his corner.

The match began properly with the two men exchanging takedowns. Eisen was a little less sharp than his opponent, but was a little more vicious, taking Gilmore down with a belly-to-back and grinding his elbow into the back of Gilmore’s head. Throughout the course of the match, Eisen showed a calculated cruelness, taking advantage of every opening to catch Gilmore and inflict a little more pain or discomfort.

Gilmore, for his part, retaliated by just being damn sharp. If Eisen hesitated, if he put a foot wrong, Gilmore found a way to turn it to his advantage. On commentary, Duane and Ana were racing to keep up, while Jerry seemed torn between wanting his brother to win, and wanting his brother to lose.

Eisen must have thought that he had victory on his side when he wrapped Gilmore up in the Supremacy, but Gilmore adroitly countered it into a jaw-breaker. As Eisen staggered backwards, Gilmore climbed to his feet and dropped the former champion with a clothesline. Eisen scrambled backwards, trying to clear his head but finding himself trapped in a neutral corner. He grabbed the ropes, but Gilmore grabbed his feet and hoisted him out of the corner, yanking Eisen’s hands off the ropes and treating his opponent to a hard landing on the back of his head.

Eisen was glassy-eyed, staring blankly up at the lights. Gilmore quickly hopped over him and climbed through the ropes, scaling the turnbuckle. Seeing Eric on the verge of losing, Lauren Easter made a dash for the corner, the Billion Dollar Belt in hand, but found Jessie already there, barring her way just long enough for Gilmore to launch himself off the top rope, landing hard on Eisen with a Sky High Elbow to score the pin.

Jerry:
Gilmore wins!

Ana:
It’s Angry Gilmore – the number seven seed sweeps the board!

Duane:
In two nights’ time it’s Gilmore against Money for the SWF World title!

Winner: Angry Gilmore (A)

As Jessie joined Gilmore in celebration in the ring, his music abruptly cut out, replaced by that of the World champion.

Rich Money walked down the aisle, eyes locked on Gilmore as the fans roared their anticipation of their upcoming clash.

Duane:
Forty-eight hours – not long, but in some ways it’s
too
long...

Money entered the ring, looking cool and composed in his immaculate suit, the World title over his shoulder. Gilmore’s gaze strayed to the title as Money stood before the couple. Money smirked, and raised a microphone to his lips.

Money:
Congratulations. Four wins in four weeks, four wins over four of the toughest, nastiest, most devious opponents you could have faced.

Money:
I have to admit, you weren’t my pick at the start of the tournament. I thought I might be facing Tornado, or maybe Brandon James. Then you showed that you were a real contender.

He looked thoughtful.

Money:
In fact, you might be an even bigger threat to me then I expected. That’s interesting... I’m looking forward to seeing what you can do on Thursday night. You may not be money, but you’re closer than I thought.

Gilmore held out his hand for the mic. Money handed it over with a shrug.

Gilmore:
I’ll tell you what’s interesting: I’m in the form of my life, I’ve got the love of my life at my side, and I’ll be fresh and raring to go on Thursday night. Be honest, Rich, are you
that
certain about your chances?

Money nodded.

Gilmore:
Don’t be. I’m not angry, and I have no reason to be. And this Thursday... you won’t like it when I’m not angry...

Dropping the mic, Gilmore fixed Money with a confident smile of his own, the champion and challenger standing scant feet apart in the ring, exuding confidence as they stared one another down.

Duane:
Forty-eight hours. You can’t miss this!

Overall: B+ (6.98 on CBA)

Supreme Wrestling Federation presents: Uprising

Wednesday, 10th November 2010

  • In the night’s opening contest, a four corners tag match between the Samoan Swat Machines, Northern Exposure, the Samoan Wildboyz and Big Time descended into chaos as the referee lost control of the four teams (C+)

  • Kurt Laramee hit the ring and said that he was out for himself – James Hernandez didn’t even
    offer
to pay him last night, and no-one had offered him enough to bother with Break Like The Wind tomorrow, so he wasn’t on anyone’s side – except his own

  • Laramee then proceeded to knock Scourge around the ring, eventually putting him down with a Switchblade Powerslam (C-)

  • Steve ‘Wrestling’ Flash then went to school on James Hernandez, giving the younger man some painful lessons before taking the win with a Flash Bang ©

  • Former tag champions CCX next clashed with Squeeky McClean and Freddy Garcia. The experienced singles competitors scored a minor upset, albeit with some ehavey cheating, when Garcia pinned Harry Allen with a handful of tights (B-)

  • In an enjoyable match, Antonio Maxi Marquez followed his BLTW teammates to victory with a win over Adam Matravers by submission (E-)

  • In four corner singles action, Jake Marlowe emerged triumphant over the young trio of William Hayes, Gino Montero and Davis Wayne Newton (C+)

  • Vengeance’ Acolytes then defeated the California Fly Boys – but only after interference from Primus. As a bonus, the Acolytes now have a guaranteed title shot whenever they choose to use it (B-, 3pts)

  • In a close-fought and thrilling match, the Huntingdon Estate triumphed over the Colony ahead of their survival encounter tomorrow night when Green fell to a Twelve Bore (B-, 2pts)

  • Eric Eisen once more put his Billion Dollar Belt on the line, this time against Cyclonus. The masked man came close, but a low blow from Eisen allowed him to retain his trophy (B-)

  • In a ring-shaking clash of big men, Robbie Retro went one on one with one of the few men in SWF bigger than he – Runaway Train. Retro rocked the veteran with a series of hefty blows, and Train retaliated in kind. When neither man seemed ready to pin the other, Swoop McCarthy slid into the ring and nailed Retro for the DQ. He then pointed to his watch – a clear signal that the Wall of Muscle duo had someplace else to be (B-)

  • Christian Faith then took on Darryl Devine, who had declined to take part in the main event battle royal in order to get another shot at the Supreme Legend. It was a thrilling clash, with Devine showing great form, but ultimately falling to a Leap of Faith (B)

  • With no fewer than twenty competitors in the ring, the main event was a hectic and enthralling contest. The Samoan Swat Machines stood back to back in the centre of the ring for a long spell, but the combined efforts of Cyclonus, Gino Montero and Scourge eventually separated them – even if Cyclonus and Scourge immediately tore into one another. Dark Eagle and Héroe soared above the ring, but Montero stayed grounded and had more success. Ted Brady showed his considerable experience by surviving until near the end, but it was Cyclonus who came out on top, sending Umaga crashing over the top with a hard superkick to the jaw (D+)

  • After the bell, Cyclonus slumped to his knees, exhausted. He was helped to his feet by Christian Faith, who entered the ring to offer his hand to his new teammate, and help him to the back as the crowd applauded his efforts

Overall: C

James, I do like that short little writeup there. Simple and to the point. Thanks :)

However, who is Cyclonus? I can't find them in the database and must have missed wherever you explained who they are/where they appeared from.

I think it's American Elemental.

Cyclonus

Masked high-flyer has impressed with his performances ... Has mainly appeared on Uprising ... A strong contender for the Shooting Star title ... Doesn’t like Scourge, and the feeling’s mutual ... Profoundly moral, often challenges those whose actions he considers to fall short of the ideal ... A fine attitude, but it’s got him in trouble in the past, and is likely to do so again in the future

Record: 9-0-24 (0.27, C/B)

Yup, Cyclonus and AE are one and the same - he's just a guy I've always wanted to have under contract in previous games but have never been able to get away from Japan/wherever. As SWF, of course, that's not a problem...

Just a quick note to say that Dark Eagle won't be appearing for the SWF again anytime soon (he's in the main event battle royal) - it was just a guest spot during his stop-off between Japan and heading down to one of the innumerable development territories we have as a trainer.

Still, with Fumihiro Ota and Emma Chase also under contract, I only need Acid and Black Eagle to have the complete Cult of the Grey Dragon...

...if only they weren't signed to BHOTWG and TCW on written deals.

SWF.com Break Like The Wind preview

An annual tradition returns to pay-per-view this Thursday night with the four-on-four survivor matches of Break Like The Wind.

Before we get to the survivor matches, let’s just say: Eddie Cornell against... Brandon James?!?

Of the six survivor matches, perhaps the one with the most intrigue involves Jack Bruce’s Showtime team against the Succession. Bruce, Steve Frehley and Chris Morrisette have been at odds with Troy Tornado, Rocky Golden, Darryl Devine and Jay Chord for some months now, and Bruce and co have decided to draft in some reinforcements... although they’re not saying who. Regardless of the identity of Showtime’s fourth man, expect Bruce to go straight for Tornado... if Tornado will get in the ring at the same time as the Long Island Angel.

Another team without a full complement named at this time is Big Money, the side comprising Wall of Muscle, Steven Parker and an unnamed veteran against the Faith in the Future team of Supreme Legend Christian Faith, Aaron Andrews, Jake Marlowe and Cyclonus. Faith and McCarthy have clashed repeatedly in recent weeks, and the Down Under Superstar has made it known he wants to put Faith down and steal a march on his fellow young competitors.

One of Swoop’s most well-regarded young rivals is Spencer Spade, the Supreme Star having made his intent to reach the top by hook or by crook. Spade has made some odd pronouncements of late, but his rivalry with Robbie Retro has been a constant. Retro, several years Spade’s senior but still a young star in his own right, has spent years working his way up the SWF ladder. He isn’t about to hand over his spot to Spade easily – even if Spade has dubbed his team (including the Huntingdon Estate and Gino Montero) The Entitled. True to his nature, Retro has dubbed his group (featuring the Colony and James Hernandez) The Party People, and they’ll no doubt be looking for a big celebration after tonight’s clash.

Elsewhere on the show Team Black (Gregory Black, CCX and Adam Matravers) will face Team McClean (Squeeky McClean, Frederique Garcia, Antonio Maxi Marquez and Steve Flash). Black and McClean have assembled their squads to work out their differences after Black rejected McClean’s challenge for a North American title match. Will Black’s recent upward rise through the ranks of the SWF continue, or will McClean teach the younger man a lesson about respecting his elders?

Blood will be in play in the remaining survivor matches, although probably not in the same way in both. Brotherly rivalry will once again come to the fore as Excellence (the Samoan Swat Machines and Northern Exposure) take on The Better Brothers (Samoan Wildboyz and Big Time). The latter team could hardly be more pointedly named – not only are Akima Brave and Kid Toma of the Wildboyz lording over Umaga and Bali of the Machines, but Bart and Brett Biggz will see it as a slap to the faces of the still-injured Bumfholes. As for Northern Exposure? We suspect it’s all one to them – the Canadian duo haven’t shown any interest in personal matters since arriving in the SWF, but a good performance here should send them a long way towards a tag title shot, if only as a boost to their morale and momentum.

In the final survivor match, blood seems destined to be spilled as Jack Giedroyc leads his Light Side team (just confirmed as comprising the recently injured Valiant and the Acolytes-targeted California Fly Boys) into battle against the Heart of Darkness – Vengeance, Primus, John Greed and Marc DuBois. The Light Side quartet all want to exact vengeance or justice against the Heart of Darkness members, which will no doubt drive them onwards... but is also the kind of thinking that will be meat and drink to Vengeance and his followers. Thursday night will reveal which approach is the superior.

Last, but by no means least, is the World title match. Newly-crowned champion Rich Money has spent much of the last month relaxing, with just a single match since taking the belt back from Christian Faith last month. His opponent, Angry Gilmore, has had to battle past four of the best wrestlers in the business to earn his shot in a gruelling tournament. Money should be odds-on favourite, but has a month off left Money a little rusty? He came close to defeat against Chris Morrisette on Tuesday night, while Gilmore is in white-hot form after dispatching Runaway Train, Troy Tornado, Brandon James and Eric Eisen in consecutive weeks. Faith’s title reign lasted just one month before Money regained his title – will Gilmore inflict the same fate on Money this Thursday night?

There’s only one way to find out – call your cable provider now to find out what it's like when we Break Like The Wind!

Cult of the Grey Dragon, for those not familiar with the origin of the 'Wrath of God' Jack Giedroyc, 'Great White Shark' Eddie Peak and a number of other GDS memes :)

I think I'm right in saying that Dark Eagle joins at some point, but the core trio were Ota, Acid and Black Eagle/Plague.

I probably have enough stables/factions/alliances in the game right now without adding another one, even if it would legitimise the use of blowpipes once again...

I doubt that title change happens here as Gilmore already did better than anyone expected him to do.

4v4 – Showtime (Jack Bruce, Steve Frehley, Chris Morrisette and ???) vs. The Succession (Troy Tornado, Rocky Golden, Jay Chord and Darryl Devine)

Could go either way but Succession seems to have more inner troubles right now.

4v4 – The Party People (Robbie Retro, the Colony and James Hernandez) vs. The Entitled (Spencer Spade, the Huntingdon Estate and Gino Montero)

Not sure where to go here but Colony have been losing a lot so I go with Entitled based on that fact alone.

4v4 – Excellence (Samoan Swat Machines and Northern Exposure) vs. The Better Brothers (The Samoan Wildboyz and Big Time)

Coin flip

4v4 – Team Black (Gregory Black, CCX and Adam Matravers) vs. Team McClean (Squeeky McClean, Frederique Garcia, Antonio Maxi Marquez and Steve Flash)

I´m guessing that Squeeky will get his title shot.

4v4 – The Light Side (Jack Giedroyc, Valiant and California Fly Boys) vs. Heart of Darkness (Vengeance, John Greed, Marc DuBois and Primus)

Just not enough star power on Giedroyc side to warrant going over Vengeance

4v4 – Faith in the Future (Christian Faith, Jake Marlowe, Aaron Andrews and Cyclonus) vs. Big Money (Swoop McCarthy, Runaway Train, Steven Parker, and ???)

I go with a team that has mystery man in it and Faith´s job is to help youngsters now so might as well put Swoop over here.

Eddie Cornell vs. Brandon James

No question here.

Swoop McCarthy, Runaway Train, Emma Chase and Steven Parker all walked down to the ring as a group, the unannounced fourth member of the team clearly wanting to make an impression with their own entrance...

...which made a lot of sense as
Battle Without Honor or Humanity
played, and Eric Eisen and Lauren Easter appeared at the top of the ramp.

Jerry:
Oh, brother...

Eisen joined his team-mates in the ring and took a mic from Chase.

Eric:
Faith is an idiot, plain and simple. I was going to skip this whole show – it’s early summer in Sydney, and the family has seats at the Opera House whenever we want them. Besides, Lauren isn’t wrestling tonight, and the chance to get her on the beach there ought not to be missed.

Eric:
Still, I can’t help but hammer home how stupid Christian Faith is. ‘Giving back’ to this company? I would have thought that it would be obvious to anyone that this company has taken everything that Christian Faith has to give. Better to put the old fool out of his misery now, while there’s still money to be made from it, then allow him to keep embarrassing himself on out television shows, indulged by that other relic my father appointed to handle the day-to-day work. Faith, come down here and let myself and my team-mates show you that you have
nothing
left to give.

Ana:
What an ******* that man is – all Christian Faith wants to do is ride off into the sunset with a little dignity, and he has to spoil it.

Jerry:
That’s Eric.

The action started fast and continued furious in the opening contest. The inclusion of Eisen as Big Money’s surprise fourth man seemed to throw Faith’s team slightly, and in the confusion of the opening minutes Cyclonus found himself trapped in the opposition corner, where the team of Big Money made effective use of the five count as Runaway Train unleashed a series of headbutts on the masked man, leaving him down and prone to a pin from Swoop.

Elimination:
Cyclonus

Steven Parker tagged reluctantly in, clearly not wanting to get into it with any of the opposing team, in spite of the numbers advantage. He held his own against Aaron Andrews for a time, but the erratic offence of Jake Marlowe left him short, and a Jungle Jack-Jammer saw him down and out.

Elimination:
Steven Parker

Before Marlowe could move on, he was almost crushed under a huge legdrop from Runaway Train, and the two brawlers unleashed on one another. As both sides cheered their man on, the two spilled to the outside, where somehow a steel chair came into play, leaving the referee no choice but to DQ both men.

Elimination:
Runaway Train

Elimination:
Jake Marlowe

Eric Eisen tentatively entered the ring against Andrews, before signalling for Faith to enter. When the Supreme Legend did tag in, though, Eisen quickly tagged out. Swoop entered, but called for Andrews to come in. The younger man did, but without the referee seeing a clear tag, leading to some confusion as the four men got into a spirited brawl, during which Eisen caught Andrews with a kick between the legs. As the referee restored order, Eisen landed a Supremacy to pick up the win.

Elimination:
Aaron Andrews

Faith boiled back into the ring, but Eisen once again made haste to the outside. Swoop looked annoyed with his partner, and the two exchanged some choice words, but Swoop went at the Supreme Legend at full speed, trying to overpower Faith. When that didn’t work, Swoop tried to go for pace – but Faith is no neophyte, and landed a Reach of Faith on the onrushing Swoop to take the opposing team captain down for the pin.

Elimination:
Swoop McCarthy

That left Eric – but he simply dropped off the ring apron, backing up the ramp as Swoop and Emma looked on in surprise from ringside. Eric shook his head as Faith looked surprised at the former World champion taking the countout loss.

Elimination:
Eric Eisen

Ana:
Well... what?

Jerry:
Apparently Eric wasn’t
that
interested in the match, so why come out at all?

Duane:
He beat Aaron Andrews with a low blow, he got the pay-per-view bonus... No, I’ve got nothing, really.

Ana:
Some impressive performances from the young stars in the match, but Eric Eisen decided to spoil the mood. I guess he really doesn’t see the point in helping the young kids.

Mr Tyler was sitting backstage, a frown on his face as he watched Eric smugly walking away from the fight. The door to his office opened and Kurt Laramee walked in.

Laramee:
Eric, what’s your problem?

Mr Tyler turned around, and Laramee took a half-step backwards at the expression on his face.

Tyler
:
What’s
my
problem?

Laramee scowled.

Laramee:
Yeah. I was just about to give this fine young co-ed a taste of the Big Smack Shuffle and-

Tyler
:
Shut up.

Tyler slammed his chair back against the wall, the tattered old belt in the glass case behind his desk shaking as he snapped to his feet. Striding over to Laramee, he got right in the other man’s face.

Tyler
:
This ain’t a game, Laramee. You think that you’re tough, you prove it. You get out there and fight. You don’t skip shows to lay pipe. You don’t walk out on matches ‘til you get paid extra. As of now, you don’t get paid at all – not until you walk in here after a win to pick up your paycheck.

Laramee:
What?

Tyler
:
You heard me. You’ve always taken the easy way out, Laramee. Not any more – you want to eat, you want to drink, you want to pay for those supplements you’re always taking...

Tyler smirked.

Tyler
:
...you’ve got to fight for them, same as anyone else.

Jerry:
Mr Tyler laying down the law!

Sara Silver was backstage with Team McClean – Squeeky McClean, Frederique Garcia, Antonio Maxi Marquez and Steve Flash.

Silver:
Hi guys.

Garcia:
Beautiful lady...

Garcia took Sara’s hand and kissed it, working his way up her arm as she flushed pink.

McClean:
Don’t mind him – he’s mostly harmless.

Silver:
‘Mostly’?

McClean:
Yeah. Not like me – not when it comes to Gregory Black. Gregory, you had your chance to show me the respect I’m due as a former tag and North American champion. Let’s be honest – the only man good enough to take the North American belt from me is the current
World
champion. In my mind, that puts me in a class above everyone else in this company.

Ana:
In
his
mind, sure.

McClean:
So in order to make my point, in order to humiliate you and your team, I’ve assembled a team of real talent. Quite apart from myself, the best pure athlete in the SWF, you have Steve ‘Wrestling’ Flash, one of the greatest technicians in the world-

Flash:
The
greatest, and I’m sick of the lack of respect shown to the proven veterans of this business, men like McClean and myself.

McClean:
Thank you, Steve. My team also includes Frederique Antonio Garcia, the reigning Shooting Star champion, a man who’s taken hold of a title supposedly held by the young up-and-comers, and is teaching them to respect experience.

Silver:
Experience...

Garcia wasn’t entirely paying attention to the interview – but then, neither was Sara now, the two of them locked in an embrace. The fourth member of the team adroitly caught the microphone as it dropped from Sara’s hand.

Marquez:
And my name... is Antonio Maxi Marquez.

He grinned.

Marquez:
Know the name, know the glory! Now, I may be younger than my team-mates, but I am no less a veteran. In Mexico, I am a star, a legend, a king! They worship me, they show me the respect I am due, respect you will all show me, and my team-mates this night.

Marquez, McClean and Flash all glanced at Garcia, who was still entwined with Sara.

McClean:
Freddy, time to go teach some punks a lesson.

Garcia came upright with a wide grin on his face.

Garcia:
Oh, the
other
Funtime... I’ll be right with you.

He turned to Sara.

Garcia:
Á bientôt
, belladonna...

Silver:
Uh-huh...

Sara looked flustered, and rather rumpled...

Silver:
Uh... Back to you, guys.

...and sounded a little breathless.

Gregory Black, CCX and Adam Matravers

Team Black

vs.

Team McClean

Squeeky McClean, Frederique Garcia, Antonio Maxi Marquez and Steve Flash

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/SqueekyMcClean.jpghttp://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/FrederiqueGarcia.jpghttp://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/AntonioMaxiMarquez.jpghttp://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/SteveFlash.jpg

This match was only a few seconds old, with Team McClean not yet organised, when Ford Gumble took matters into his own hands, unleashing a barrage of kicks against the opposing side. In the confusion, Steve Flash got caught with a Savate Kick direct to the head, and in the chaos was left prone to a Shining Wizard from Black.

Elimination:
Steve Flash

Squeeky’s side was quick to rally, though, with Matravers relentlessly double- and triple-teamed before Antonio Marquez landed a Champagne Stunner for the pin.

Elimination:
Adam Matravers

As Team Black tried to get revenge, Freddy Garcia caught Harry Allen in the back of the head with the Shooting Star title, putting him down for the pin.

Elimination:
Harry Allen

Black and Gumble, however, were not to be daunted. Before Garcia could recover, Black launched himself off the top rope with a flying bodypress to take him down. Rolling through, he sprang upright and nailed Squeeky with an elbow that sent him flying off the ring apron. Marquez charged Black, but was met with a backdrop. As he staggered upright, Gumble blasted him with a Savate Kick. As he stumble backwards, Black hit him with a spinning heel kick, then Gumble nailed a Capoeira Kick, before Black finished him with a Shining Wizard.

Elimination:
Antonio Maxi Marquez

With the match down to two per side, Black locked up with Garcia, making it champion on champion. Garcia tried to take Black down, but he wasn’t able to keep the spring-heeled Black on the mat for long enough to do any major damage, and a third Shining Wizard of the night almost from nowhere was enough to put Garcia down and out.

Elimination:
Frederique Garcia

McClean then brought Gumble into the fray, and spent a lot of time ducking his kicks. However, a wild roundhouse left Gumble vulnerable to a hard kick to the thigh, hobbling the former tag champ and taking away a lot of his striking power. McClean showed real talent in taking it to Gumble, who seemed unable to adapt quickly enough to keep him at bay, eventually falling victim to a Stain Removal.

Elimination:
Ford Gumble

With the team captains in the ring, at last the match had come down to the two men whose rivalry had brought the match about. McClean played it safe, trying to avoid Black’s best offence, but without going on the offence he found it hard to tie Black down. Black caught him with a heel kick, before nailing a Blackout to score the pin.

Elimination:
Squeeky McClean

Duane:
Four for four – Black sweeps the board!

Jerry:
Squeeky McClean doesn’t make the point he wanted to make, I guess.

Winner: Gregory Black (B-)

Black accepted the embrace of Dawn the Cheerleader – and his North American title belt – gratefully, if wearily, but a second later shoved her away. In doing so, he saved her from the onrushing McClean, but bore the brunt of the clothesline. As Black hit the mat, McClean snatched up the North American title and, as Black tried to rise, McClean smashed him between the eyes with the heavy belt. Looking down on his handiwork, McClean smirked darkly and dropped the belt on Black’s unmoving body before turning and walking away.

Ana:
Ah, maybe Squeeky made his point after all...

Robbie Retro and his Party People team of the Colony – Red and Green – and James Hernandez were waiting backstage when Sara Silver rushed into the interview area, hastily screwing the cap on a lipstick and tucking it into her catsuit.

Silver:
Sorry, all of you. Had to powder my nose.

Green chuckled slightly. Robbie shot him a warning look.

Retro:
It’s cool, it’s cool, we’re just here chilling out, maxing, relaxin’ all cool. We good, miss Sara.

He bobbed his head a couple of times, seemingly hearing a beat no-one else could hear, judging by Hernandez and the Colony duos slightly uncertain expressions.

Retro:
We’re ready to party. A few minutes here or there, well, it’s all jake. Spade and his homies can just go cut the grass.

Silver:
Uh, right, James?

Hernandez:
Robbie-

Retro:
The Robster!

Hernandez:
Sure. The Robster is right, Sara. Spencer talks about respect, he talks about earning his shot, but he should just keep his mouth shut until he has some wins. No-one’s going to walk in here and be on top from day one – not without earning it, and Spade has got talent, but a lot of us have talent. It’s all about learning how to make the most of it, and it’s clear that Spade needs a few lessons.

Silver:
Lessons from you?

Hernandez:
Robbie – the Robster – has been taking care of that so far. Look, I’m not much older than Spade, but I’ve learned a few things – I had
Rip Chord
as my mentor. Spade has a lot of hype, but he’s green. Who’s teaching him to put up or shut up?

Silver:
Red, Green, any comments?

Robbie popped up between Sara and the Colony duo.

Retro:
Ah, they don’t talk much, but you should hear them do karaoke!

Silver:
On that note, let’s send it back to ringside.

Ana:
James Hernandez has a point. Spencer Spade has talked a lot about putting in his time, and I know he’s dedicated to his craft, but he could do with an older, wiser head to advise him on how to conduct himself.

Duane:
I’ve seen some guys come into this business who were so green they looked like they dressed in camo gear – but would you say that the likes of Remo, Steve Frehley or even Sean McFly couldn’t back up their talk?

Ana:
Are you saying Spade is in McFly’s class?

Duane:
Give the kid a chance. He could surprise you.

Jerry:
Hey, look! He’s sitting out there in the crowd
again
!

Robbie Retro, the Colony and James Hernandez

The Party People

vs.

The Entitled

Spencer Spade, the Huntingdon Estate and Gino Montero

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/SpencerSpade.jpghttp://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/PaulHuntingdon.jpghttp://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/Steadfast.jpghttp://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/GinoMontero.jpg

Not to sell their efforts short, but the eliminations of Gino Montero, Steadfast, James Hernandez and Paul Huntingdon in that order didn’t exactly affect the outcome of the match.

What affected the match came after Huntingdon was counted down, leaving The Party People with a three-to-one advantage over McClean. Red and Green joined their captain in the ring...

...and Red blasted Retro with a capture suplex.

Ana:
What?

Red hopped out of the ring and walked up the aisle. Green stood over Retro, his expression hidden behind his mask as he reached down, grabbing Retro’s legs and wrapping him up in a scorpion deathlock, before bridging back into a necklock as well.

Green held the submission long enough to make Retro tap frantically. Green released the hold and rolled out of the ring, joining Red halfway up the aisle.

The referee didn’t know what to make of it all, but when Spade made the cover on the ambushed Retro he shrugged and dropped to the mat, slapping his hand down three times.

Elimination(s):
Robbie Retro, Red, Green

Ana:
A big win for Spade – sort of.

Duane:
He’s beaten Retro at last, but the assist has to go to the Colony... but why?

Jerry:
And I don’t want to sound like I’m harping on about this, but where’s Remo gone?

Winner: Spencer Spade (B-)

*

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/SpencerSpade.jpghttp://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/RobbieRetro.jpghttp://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/Green.jpghttp://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/Red.jpg

Spade grabbed Retro and hauled him upright by his afro.

Spade:
No more messing around. I’m learning, and next month I prove it – prove it to you, to him, to everyone!

He shoved Retro backwards, into the waiting arms of Red and Green who had re-entered the ring. They caught him easily, and with perfect synchronicity pitched him forwards to Spade, who blasted him with a Supreme Stunner.

As one, the trio turned to look at one corner of the ring. Spade beckoned as though calling someone in to the ring. After a few seconds, a young man darted down the steps, evading security, and vaulted the guard rail. Scrambling onto the ring apron, he sprang onto the top turnbuckle, pausing and allowing the cameras to catch sight of him clearly for the first time.

Jerry:
That’s... KC Glenn? He’s been on Uprising once or twice. What’s he-

Glenn threw himself off the top rope, crashing down on Retro with a picture perfect elbow drop.

Jerry:
Never mind.

Spade helped Glenn to his feet and the newcomer shook hands with other three men.

Ana:
I’m... Well, I’m speechless. Robbie Retro was just betrayed his own team-mates.

Duane:
Apparently Spencer Spade has learned one thing – how to make other people turn on their allies.

Ana:
And I suppose you’ll say that’s a good thing?

Duane:
Well... he
has
just scored his first win on pay-per-view.

As the four men walked away from the ring, Robbie struggled to sit up, looking at the departing group in confusion as the referee tried to help him upright.

Duane:
And I think we have
one
match made for Christmas Clash, anyway...

*

Ana:
We, er, we were going to go backstage with Sara Silver again, but, well, let’s just show you...

Backstage, Sara was caught between Katie Cameron – the new manager of Big Time – and BJ O’Neill, the manager of the Samoan Swat Machines. The two managers were exchanging barbed comments about one another’s teams, with Sara unable to get a word in edgeways until eventually she gave up and walked off screen, leaving O’Neill and Cameron to bark at one another.

Duane:
Well, we’re a little ahead of ourselves here, which might be just as well. We’ve received word that Angry Gilmore wants a few moments ahead of the World title match tonight, so let’s take you to the Gilmores’ locker room.

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/Jessie.jpg

Angry Gilmore was taping his wrists backstage, seemingly not noticing the camera as he smiled at Jessie, who smiled back. After a couple of moments, he turned and looked into the camera.

Gilmore:
Angry Gilmore. I’ve gone by that name for nine years now but – and this may shock you – it’s not my real name. I came to the SWF in 2002, just six years out of training. I’d trained in Canada, I worked in Philly as a rookie, I did some time in Japan. I was the Burning Junior champion which, at 21 years old, was unheard of. I was good enough to win that title, at that age, and when I came to America I thought I was set. I thought that I was the next Sean McFly.

Gilmore:
Instead Richard Eisen took one look at me and said ‘Come up with a gimmick, kid. You’re short, you’re too skinny, and if you’ve worked in Canada and Japan then I’ll bet you an even grand you can’t work the mic.’

Jerry:
That sounded just like Dad...

Gilmore smiled ruefully.

Gilmore:
I was stupid. I got angry – really angry. You’ve seen it happen to me a few times, but believe me, this was some suit telling me I couldn’t wrestle, and I’d already held one of the most prestigious titles in the world.

Gilmore:
I let Richard Eisen have it with both barrels, really went out of my way to tear him a new one. Five minutes later he was laughing and shaking my hand, said that I could be Angry Gilmore, and maybe there was hope for me on the mic after all. I didn’t know what had happened – just that I had a contract. Then the ring announcers started calling me Angry Gilmore every night, and when I made it onto Supreme TV Peter Michaels was calling me it as well. I was the guy “who’s most dangerous when he’s angry”

Gilmore:
I was torn – I
wasn’t
Angry Gilmore, I knew I had to keep cool to stand a chance against the best in the business... But if I wanted to
fight
the best, if I wanted to be
recognised
as the best, I had to be here, in the SWF. Japan is great, and Canada will always be home, but here... Christian Faith, Sean McFly, Sam Strong, Rip Chord, Sam Keith, Tommy Cornell, Jack Bruce, Rich Money – there’s only one place they’ve all wrestled. Right here. Here was where I had to be. So I tried to
be
Angry Gilmore, tried to get mad like Richard Eisen wanted, tried to make myself stand out so that the fans would want me in the big matches, one way or another.

Gilmore:
But being Angry Gilmore wasn’t enough, I wasn’t winning enough, I wasn’t getting the big matches, I wasn’t getting the chance to prove myself – not until Richard met Jessie. He decided to hire her as well, and all of a sudden I was travelling with my wife, working with her day in, day out, and I was happy... which meant I couldn’t get angry, and without that I’d found a dollar and lost a hundred cents. Whatever Richard Eisen saw in me in his office was gone, and even with Jessie around to catch his eye, I couldn’t make myself noticed in a world of Runaway Trains and Vengeances and Jack Bruces.

Gilmore:
I was lost, I got angry, and it nearly cost me my marriage.

Gilmore:
Then I got lucky. I had a hell of a night in Supreme Respect – enough to catch peoples’ attention, enough to get a big match at Supreme Challenge, enough... enough to make Jessie think that I might still be man she fell in love. I had a title, I had my wife back. I believed in myself, and even if I lost that belt, I knew I was wrestling as well as I’d ever done, and people were responding.

Gilmore:
And this last month I went 4 and 0. Runaway Train, Troy Tornado, Brandon James, Eric Eisen. Four former World champions – two of them right here in SWF. They stood across the ring from me, and I beat them, one, two, three.

Gilmore:
In the fourteen years since I debuted, I’ve fought everyone I could, every style, every size, every level of skill.

Gilmore:
I’ve never beaten four world champions in a month – I don’t know if
anyone
has. Tonight, I’m going to make it five. Eight years ago I came to the SWF to face the best. Tonight I’ll do just that – Rich Money is as good a wrestler as anyone on the planet, maybe
the
best. If I can beat him, it’d mean...

He smiled, almost shyly, as Jessie laid a hand on his shoulder.

Gilmore:
I’ll do it. It’s everything I’ve worked for, every sacrifice I’ve made, but if I’m going to do it, I’ll do it as me – not Angry Gilmore. I’m not angry anymore – I don’t need to be. I’m better than that.

Gilmore:
My name is Tom Gilmore, and tonight I’m going to become the SWF World champion.

The blood feud between the four Samoans dominated the early exchanges in this match, with the pairs of brothers throwing caution to the wind as they pursued each other. That recklessness cost them, not for the first time, as first Bali and then Kid Toma crashed and burned on risky dives, directly leading to their eliminations. Akima Brave could at least boast about having taken down Umaga with a Suicide Headbutt – after Big Time had double-teamed him – but the high impact dive left him groggy and vulnerable to John Maverick’s Deadly Silence.

That left Big Time and Northern Exposure in the ring, and Katie Cameron seemed to feel that the match was as good as done, telling her clients to get the match won quickly. Neither Deeley nor Maverick took kindly to that, and the Canadians seemed to take special delight in breaking down the five-time tag champions limb by limb, joint by joint. They started with the legs, taking away the Biggz Brothers’ speed advantage, and then worked over their arms for good measure, leaving the veterans scarcely able to move, and very vulnerable to the Deadly Silence and Seated Stretch Armbar, with the brothers tapping out in short order.

Duane:
And after all that... the team with no blood ties wins?!?

Ana:
The team with their mind on
business
wins.

Winners: Northern Exposure (B)

Sara Silver was in the parking lot, chasing after an indistinct figure in the distance. As she got closer, it was revealed that once more Spencer Spade was heading out after his match – but this time with a win under his belt, not a loss.

Silver:
Spencer, Spencer!

Spade turned, his expression not inviting of questions.

Spade:
What?

Silver:
What happened tonight? You and Robbie – you and the Colony – you and KC Glenn...

Spade stared at her for a long, long moment.

Spade:
What happened tonight was a backwards step. I didn’t need anyone’s help to beat Robbie Retro, I’ll prove that next month. But I’ve been getting help, getting lessons... and the person giving them to me has been helping others as well.

Silver:
You mean Red, Green and Glenn?

Spade nodded.

Spade:
Tune in on Tuesday, if you want. He’s ready to go public.

With that, Spade turned and walked away leaving Sara looking confused.

Duane:
Who’s
ready? The last person I heard of giving out lessons in the business was Mr Tyler.

Ana:
I have no idea. We’ll find out on Tuesday, I suppose.

Jerry:
Hmmm...

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/EddieCornell.jpg

Eddie Cornell’s music hit and the self-certain young Brit marched down the aisle, collecting a mic on his way into the ring.

Cornell:
Now, what’s going on ‘ere? A big night, a big show, and I’m kept waiting? That is not how you treat someone with my ability, right? Not when he’s got a date with the big dog himself, Brandon James.

Cornell:
Now, Brandon James... ‘e’s a big fella, no question, but when it comes down to it all trees are the same height when you kick ‘em in the balls, right? So, get the f---ing kitten to come down ‘ere now so I can put a collar on ‘im and call ‘im Tiddles.

Jerry:
...what?

Big Money’s music played. For once, James’ entrance wasn’t one of measured, almost stately steps. Rather he launched himself down the aisle and into the ring, doing his utmost to decapitate Cornell with a clothesline.

Jerry:
I guess he wasn’t in the mood to talk.

Eddie Cornell vs. Brandon James

A month ago Eddie Cornell
tried
against Eric Eisen. Here he wasn’t even
allowed
to try. Still reeling from the pre-match assault, Cornell was little more than a training dummy in the ring for Big Money who toyed with his opponent a little, but never so much that Cornell had a chance to recover. After James nearly bent Cornell double – backwards – with a corner charge that would have done Runaway Train proud, he dragged him out of the corner and crushed him with a Brandon Bomb Drop for the win.

Winner: Brandon James (C+)

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/JackGiedroyc.jpg

In the ring, Jack Giedroyc stood alone.

Giedroyc:
Nearly. I was nearly forced to come out here by myself, or to ring up some old Philadelphia stalwarts, or even to dip into the rookies who really aren’t ready to take on someone like my sadistic bastard of an opponent, Vengeance.

Giedroyc:
Nearly.

Giedroyc:
But evil sews the seeds of its own destruction. In ganging up on Valiant, you only made him more determined to come out and fight. I don’t deserve a friend of his courage and devotion, but even if he’s only at ninety percent, I’d take him over anyone else who’s available.

<!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:WordDocument> <w:View>Normal</w:View> <w:Zoom>0</w:Zoom> <w:Compatibility> <w:BreakWrappedTables/> <w:SnapToGridInCell/> <w:ApplyBreakingRules/> <w:WrapTextWithPunct/> <w:UseAsianBreakRules/> <w:UseFELayout/> </w:Compatibility> <w:BrowserLevel>MicrosoftInternetExplorer4</w:BrowserLevel> </w:WordDocument> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 10]> <style> /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0cm 5.4pt 0cm 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0cm; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";} </style> <![endif]-->
http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/Valiant.jpg

Valiant appeared at the top of the aisle and walked down the ramp. He looked a little sore, his movement slightly limited by the assault he’d endured at the hands of the Heart of Darkness, but his expression was one of absolute determination.

Giedroyc:
Recently Vengeance’ little acolytes have been getting in peoples’ faces. They might be taking after the Wall of Muscle – who I’ll get to eventually, if someone doesn’t beat me to it – or maybe it’s their boss’ influence. Whatever the case, they’ve cost two men the chance for a shot at the titles...

Giedroyc:
...and those two men want a chance at getting some revenge.

The California Fly Boys joined Valiant and Giedroyc in the ring.

Giedroyc:
That makes four. Let’s fight. No sneak attacks, no ambushes... Come and have a go if you think you’re hard enough.

Jack Giedroyc, Valiant and California Fly Boys

The Light Side

vs.

The Heart of Darkness

Vengeance, John Greed, Marc DuBois and Primus

<!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:WordDocument> <w:View>Normal</w:View> <w:Zoom>0</w:Zoom> <w:Compatibility> <w:BreakWrappedTables/> <w:SnapToGridInCell/> <w:ApplyBreakingRules/> <w:WrapTextWithPunct/> <w:UseAsianBreakRules/> <w:UseFELayout/> </w:Compatibility> <w:BrowserLevel>MicrosoftInternetExplorer4</w:BrowserLevel> </w:WordDocument> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 10]> <style> /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0cm 5.4pt 0cm 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0cm; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";} </style> <![endif]-->

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/Vengeance.jpghttp://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/JohnGreed.jpghttp://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/MarcDuBois.jpghttp://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/Primus.jpg

Primus didn’t wait for the bell. By the time it rang, James Prudence was already in his grasp and three repeats into a sequence of having his head slammed into the top turnbuckle more than a dozen times. The referee had no choice but to disqualify the monstrous rookie...

Elimination:
Primus Allen

...but the one man disadvantage for the Heart of Darkness only lasted as long as it took Marc DuBois to pin Prudence.

Elimination:
James Prudence

From that point, Vengeance and his Acolytes focused on Valiant, the walking wounded fighting as hard as he could to hold off his vindictive and remorseless foes. He even scored a stunning two count on Vengeance, but over time the weight of numbers wore down the hard-fighting Valiant, and the combined efforts of his three opponents left him prone to a Skull Krusher.

Elimination:
Valiant

With his most trusted ally eliminated, Giedroyc entered the fray cautiously. He tied up with DuBois, first inspecting the blonde man’s hands for any sign of a lighter. The two tussled for a spell with neither man gaining any real advantage before Donnie Jackson took matters into his own hands and kicked DuBois in the back of the head as he ran the ropes. Giedroyc nailed a Crashing On seemingly on instinct, but before making the cover he glared at Jackson, and continued to do so as the referee counted the pin.

Elimination:
Marc DuBois

Ana:
Is Giedroyc unhappy about that?

Duane:
It looks like it, yeah!

Giedroyc yelled at Jackson, pointing a finger at him as he ranted about Jackson’s unwanted intervention. Jackson coloured, but held his ground as he shouted back that he’d evened the match at two apiece. Before the two men could go any further, John Greed dropkicked Giedroyc into Jackson, technically making the two men tag. Greed quickly hopped out of the ring and grabbed Jackson, rolling him back into the ring and sending him into the corner where Vengeance was waiting with a crunching headbutt, and another, and another... The sheer viciousness of the Heart of Darkness members wasn’t lost on the crowd as they grew quiet, watching Jackson suffer before Greed hauled him out of the corner and hoisted him up for a Crucifix Powerbomb for another elimination.

Elimination:
Donnie Jackson

Greed stared down Giedroyc as the sole survivor of his team entered the ring. Before they could tie up, Greed backed up and extended his hand to Vengeance... but the masked man refused the tag. Greed frowned, and turned back to Giedroyc, only to be met with a Crashing On for the pin.

Elimination:
John Greed

Jerry:
We’re down to two.

Ana:
Just as Vengeance wanted it, I think.

The masked man entered the ring slowly, shepherding Greed through the ropes but giving no response to his questions. He turned to face Giedroyc, and quick as a flash threw a huge right hook that caught him on the side of the head. Pursuing his advantage, he tried to beat Giedroyc down through sheer strength and brutality, but the former Philly veteran knows a thing or two about that game. He responded in kind, not able to hit as hard as Vengeance, but instead landing faster and more varied strikes, forcing the masked man away from him to allow him to catch a breather. However, he couldn’t keep Vengeance at bay long enough to gain the advantage in the match – at least, not until it spilled out of the ring.

Giedroyc seemed to be in his element unloading with his hardest shots on the outside of the ring. However, he was alert enough to the referee’s count to make it back into the ring before it reached ten, rolling under the bottom rope to do so. However, as he did so Vengeance grabbed his leg and dragged him out of the ring before grabbing the back of his head and slamming it hard into the steel ring steps. Ignoring the referee, Vengeance did it again, and again, and again, stopping short of drawing a DQ, but leaving Giedroyc bloodied and insensible. Vengeance rolled his victim back into the ring and, with one foot on his throat, pinned the unresisting Giedroyc to win the match.

Elimination:
Jack Giedroyc

Ana:
Just when you think Vengeance can’t get any worse... He and his thugs brutalised Giedroyc’s team tonight.

Duane:
Valiant might count himself lucky. It seems he got off lightly!

Winner: Vengeance (B-)

Sara Silver was once more on the move, this time pursuing Rich Money as he walked down a corridor.

Silver:
Rich, Rich Money! Champ!

He turned, staring blankly at her.

Money:
Yes?

Silver:
Sara Silver? I’m the interviewer for SWF?

Money:
And?

Silver:
I wanted to ask if you felt ready to take on Angry- Sorry,
Tom
Gilmore tonight. You’ve only known for two days-

Money:
-that it would be Gilmore across the ring from me tonight. Yes, that’s true, but Sara, you’re forgetting something.

Silver:
What’s that?

Money:
I’m money.

His smile was cold and hard.

Money:
There were sixteen men for me to face at the start of the tournament. I watched the matches, and then there were eight – a much more manageable number. Of those eight, I’d faced four in the last year alone. Bruce and Eisen, really, were as familiar to me as the rev limit in my Aston. I don’t forget what I’ve learned in the past, and so my preparations weren’t too much greater than would otherwise have been the case.

Money:
By the end of that second round of matches, only four men remained – three of whom I’ve faced in the last few months, and all of whom fell before me. They may be better, but I certainly am. They would be challenging, of course, but I believe in my superiority. Only Gilmore was something of a mystery, and I confess I was surprised when he reached the final. I studied him more closely. His opponent was Eric Eisen, and I scarcely needed any further research on him.

Money:
So am I worried that I only knew it would be Gilmore two nights ago? No. I’ve been preparing to face him since day one – him, and anyone else who might cross my path. That’s why you can always count on Hard Cash.

He turned to walk away.

Silver:
Oh, Rich, do you know what Spencer Spade meant earlier?

He looked over his shoulder...

Money:
Of course I do. I’m money.

...and walked off.

With the four members of the Succession in the ring, and Jack Bruce and Steve Frehley in the corner opposite them, only Chris Morrisette’s cooler head prevented his colleagues from throwing themselves at their numerically-superior foes.

Seeing his team-mates on the verge of attacking their opponents, Morrisette gave a visible sigh and picked up a mic.

Morrisette:
This was going to be a big deal – he’s worth it, believe me. Jack was going to do a thing, Steve was going to do a thing... The truth is, I haven’t done anything to get this guy on our side. Steve made the first contact, because this guy has history with Troy and Rocky-

On the other side of the ring, Tornado and Golden exchanged glances.

Morrisette:
-and honestly, I think he might have a bit of history with the Chord family as well, given the way he talks about Jay and his father-

In the Succession corner, Chord looked confused.

Morrisette:
-but Darryl I don’t think he cares a damn about, one way or the other.

Devine looked annoyed.

As Steve and Jack are champing at the bit I’ll just say hit the music...

Morrisette:
...and please welcome the, ah, Total Legend...

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/RickyDaleJohnson.jpg

Morrisette:
...Ricky Dale Johnson!

Duane:
No f---ing way!

Ana:
Duane! I mean, I agree with you, but...

Jerry:
RDJ!

Johnson stood at the top of the ramp, staring out over the sea of Supreme fans for the first time ever, the expression on his face one of mixed determination and, perhaps, a little apprehension.

If he was worried about his welcome, those fears surely evaporated as the shock of the crowd began to wear off. As he walked slowly down the aisle, the fans began to chant his name – his initials – as, in the ring, Rocky Golden in particular seemed to pale at the sight of RDJ striding down the aisle.

Stepping through the ropes, Johnson accepted the mic from Morrisette. He glared at the Succession.

RDJ:
Seems like not too long ago I was cleaning you pieces of trash out of my ring. Now I’ve got to do it all over again, and now you’ve got...
friends
.

His smile, slow in coming, was predatory.

RDJ:
Guess I’ve got a name to make for myself in this company. Been a long time since I had to do that... Figure you boys’ll make as good a way as any to impress all these folks.

He waved to the fans, who cheered his words.

RDJ:
So... who’s first?

Jack Bruce, Steve Frehley, Chris Morrisette and Ricky Dale Johnson

Showtime

vs.

The Succession

Troy Tornado, Rocky Golden, Jay Chord and Darryl Devine

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/TroyTornado.jpghttp://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/RockyGolden.jpghttp://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/DarrylDevine.jpghttp://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/SWF/JayChord.jpg

Duane:
Fair to say, that the Succession weren’t expecting RDJ of all people.

Ana:
What a fillip for Showtime – if anyone knows Golden and Tornado, it’s the total legend!

Jay Chord looked trepidatious as he crossed the ring, looking to lock up with RDJ. He kept looking back to his corner, which was only going to lead to trouble – in the form of a Southern Justice in this instance, as Chord was nailed and pinned within thirty seconds of the bell.

Elimination:
Jay Chord

Rocky Golden took it on himself to take the fight to Showtime as Chris Morrisette tagged into the match. The two brawled in the ring for several minutes, seemingly forgetting that they had partners even as Frehley and Devine, in particular, seemed to be begging to get into the match. However, neither man seemed interested in sharing the fight with their team-mates, and it was only when Golden reversed a brainbuster attempt into the Rack with a judicious thumb to the eye that their domination of the ring was split – and only then because Morrisette was trapped in the centre of the ring with no option but to submit.

Elimination:
Chris Morrisette

Frehley and Bruce both wanted into the match at that point, which was fine with Golden and Devine who were only too happy to meet them in the centre of the ring, exchanging blows as RDJ and Tornado hung back, watching their team-mates going at it at full throttle. Bruce, however, seemed to have one eye on Tornado, which cost him as Devine was able to catch him with an eyerake before nailing a Devine Dream Drop. Bruce rolled out of the ring on instinct, leaving Golden and Devine to double-team Frehley. For the next several minutes Frehley was isolated by the Succession who used quick tags to keep the Dark Destroyer in their corner. With all three members of the team working over him, Frehley was visibly boiling over, and when Devine made a mistake he paid the price, eating a thunderous Dark Destroyer Spear that knocked him clean into Showtime’s corner. Tornado dived into the ring, but rather than make the save he let Devine get pinned...

Elimination:
Darryl Devine

...before grabbing the worn-down Frehley and smartly hitting the Star Maker on him to once again balance the numbers.

Elimination:
Steve Frehley

However, that was as far as he wanted to go. With Bruce re-entering the ring, Golden was tagged back in. The Hollywood native took delight in going after the distracted Long Island Angel, who took too long to get his head in the game, and came close to losing on several occasions, even needing intervention from Johnson to save him after a Rocky Road. Bruce gratefully tagged Johnson in, allowing him to trade hard shots with Golden. The arrogant Succession member seemed to realise that Johnson was practically fresh, and despite his greater age was able to more than hold his own against Golden. Golden looked for help, but Tornado was watching passively, and made no move to interfere, even when Golden ate a second Southern Justice of the night to get eliminated.

Elimination:
Rocky Golden

In fact, Tornado made no move to enter the ring even after the referee called for the restart. Rather, as Golden trudged groggily up the aisle, Tornado dropped off the ring apron and backed up the ramp in his wake, leaving Bruce and Johnson in the ring, exchanging exasperated looks as Tornado reached the top of the ramp just as the referee’s count reached ten.

Elimination:
Troy
Tornado

Ana:
Once again, Troy Tornado avoids Jack Bruce.

Duane:
No, Ana, once again Troy Tornado leaves us wanting more. What a showman!

Jerry:
All I know is, Dad won’t be happy about Tornado walking out on a pay-per-view match...

Winners: Bruce and Johnson (B+)

Bruce and RDJ remained in the ring. Bruce looked like he wanted to go after Tornado, but RDJ placed a hand on his arm and gestured to the crowd. Reluctantly, Bruce turned away to play to the crowd a little alongside his debutant partner, but even as the fans cheered for Johnson and Bruce, the latter was looking over his shoulder in the direction that Tornado had walked off.

Ana:
There’ll be another night for Troy Tornado and Jack Bruce, but it’s clear the Long Island Angel wanted vindication tonight.

Supreme TV – 9th November

Duane:
Welcome to Supreme TV and the final of the tournament to determine who’ll face Rich Money on Thursday night. Angry Gilmore - will history repeat itself? Will the former World champion Eric Eisen earn himself a rematch against the man who took the title from him eight months ago?

Before the main event, Mr Tyler had an announcement to make...

Tyler
:
I know I want to see this match tonight - Rich Money against Chris Morrisette!

Money and Morrisette put on a classic, a thrilling clash between two wrestlers at their peaks. At the end of the match, Money was narrowly able to avoid defeat by reversing a Lobster Trap attempt into a Money in the Bank.

Duane:
What a match!

In the main event, Eisen and Gilmore put on a clinic that moved so fast the announcers were tripping over themselves to keep up. Eisen was cruel and calculating, Gilmore relentless and razor sharp. Neither man seemed to miss a single opportunity to wear the other down. In the end, Jessie prevented Lauren Easter from interfering, allowing Gilmore to land the Sky High Elbow.

Jerry:
Gilmore wins!

After the bell, Money entered the ring and the champion and his challenger stared one another down.

Money:
I'm looking forward to seeing what you can do. You may not be money, but you're closer than I thought.

Gilmore:
Be honest, Rich, are you that certain about your chances?

Money nodded.

Gilmore:
Don’t be. I’m not angry, and I have no reason to be. And this Thursday... you won’t like it when I’m not angry...

Rich Money © vs. Tom Gilmore for the SWF World title

Duane:
And here we go...

Overwhelmingly, the early minutes of this match were given over to the clear respect that existed between the two competitors. Each man had the other well scouted, and even the simplest of holds was treated as though it had the potential to turn the match decisively. As Ana noted, both men were perfectly capable of taking advantage of the smallest mistake, and therefore it was important to avoid those mistakes. The result was several minutes of slow-paced, basic, exchanges as the two competitors tried to find a weakness in each other’s game. As the clock approached the eight minute mark, it didn’t seem like there was even a single one to share between the two.

Ana:
Gilmore is as close as I’ve seen to being a flawless technician, while Money... well, he calls himself the best wrestler in the world, and who are we to doubt that?

Eventually a mistake came when Money charged Gilmore in the corner, with Gilmore getting a boot up just in time to catch the champion in the mouth. Seizing on the advantage, Gilmore planted Money with a tornado DDT for a close two count, following up by trying to lock Money into a crossface. Money made the ropes to break it, and rolled out of the ring to gather his wits. Unfortunately for the champ, Gilmore was right behind him. He sent Money crashing into the crowd barrier with a snapping dropkick to the back, but when he tried to sandwich Money against the barrier with a shoulder charge, Money moved at the last moment and Gilmore ran head first into the barrier, eliciting a shriek from Jessie and groans from the crowd. As Jessie ran to her husband’s side, Money rolled back into the ring, taking time to clear his head and gather his wits.

Jerry:
I’d almost say Money wasn’t ready for that, but...

Gilmore eventually made it back into the ring, but it was clear that both men were feeling the effects of their collisions with the steel guard rail. Their reactions were dulled, just enough to make it harder for them to defend and counter when the momentum turned against them. On the other hand, the bigger moves in their arsenals came with added risk – the concentration needed for Gilmore to tie Money up, or the champion to move into one of his impeccably-timed barrages of offence, just wasn’t there.

Ana:
The match is still even, but both men are struggling a little.

But as the match continued, still neither man could be said to have the decisive advantage. Money came within inches of hitting Dollars From Heaven, even hoisting Gilmore up into the air and rolling backwards, but Gilmore caught the ropes with the toe of his boot, throwing Money off just enough to bring all Gilmore’s weight down on Money’s chest and head, the impact enough to earn a close two count.

But Gilmore certainly didn’t have things his own way. An attempt at an Anger Management saw Money grab the ropes, and as Gilmore slammed into the mat, Money adroitly wrapped him up in a cloverleaf that had Gilmore clearly on the verge of tapping until he grabbed the ropes with his fingertips.

Duane:
What will it take to separate these men?

Gilmore scrambled into his corner, slumping against the bottom rope as Money backed into his. Jessie urged her husband on, Gilmore staring down the champion as he paced back and forth slowly, grimacing slightly with every other step. As Gilmore slowly climbed to his feet, Money advanced. The two men met in the centre of the ring, as they had done more than twenty-five minutes before. They glared at one another, neither man prepared to give so much as an inch to the other.

Money struck first, a wild right that seemed to take forever to land – but even so, Gilmore wasn’t able to avoid it or block it and got spun halfway around. His response was no quicker, but the added distance he had to travel gave the elbow smash a momentum that nearly spun Money right around. The champion followed through with a discus punch that sent Gilmore staggering back into the ropes. He bounced off with a left cross that sent Money to the ropes. As he bounced off, Gilmore dropped to the mat, and Money hurdled the challenger. As Money bounced off the far set of ropes, he tried to lunge at Gilmore but his opponent managed – just – to leapfrog the tackle.

Money bounced off the ropes a third time, but this time Gilmore was slow to react, and Money, off balance by the failed lunge, was unable to use his momentum in his advantage. Instead, the two men clashed, their skulls colliding with a sickening thud.

Money staggered backward, dropping slowly to one knee, before dropping facefirst to the mat. Gilmore swayed in place for a couple of seconds, before keeling over, landing spreadeagled on his back.

Jerry:
We could hear that collision all the way out here at ringside. It didn’t sound great.

Ana:
Jessie looks beside herself.

The referee’s started his count...

The count was already at three, and neither man showed any sign of moving. At six, Money’s left hand twitched slightly, and his head rolled from one side to the other. At eight, Gilmore’s right leg spasmed, but the rest of him remained still. At nine, Money almost pushed himself up off the mat on one hand, but then he slumped back down.

At ten, the referee called for the bell.

Ana:
Wow.

Duane:
Indeed. Ladies and gentlemen, that was not the ending we were expecting but, well, you can see for yourself what happened.

Ana:
After almost thirty minutes in the ring, Tom Gilmore and Rich Money clashed heads and collapsed to the mat. Neither man was able to get back to his feet before the referee counted to ten...

Jerry:
...so this match is a draw.

Winner: No-one (A)

Duane:
What a night. A classic main event, and if the ending was, well, inconclusive, Money and Gilmore put forward a clinic.

Ana:
You can see that champion and challenger are being checked over by our crew of doctors. Money is sitting up and talking, which is good news. Tom Gilmore seems to be responding to the doctors as well.

Jerry:
A split second of, well, do you call it hesitation? A mistake? I don’t know how to describe it, but I do know that I want a rematch as soon as possible!

Ana:
I agree with you there, Jerry. Folks, we’ve seen the debut of tonight of a legend, ‘Southern Justice’ Ricky Dale Johnson. A possible future legend, Spencer Spade, scored his first major victory – with a lot of help from other people.

Duane:
The issues between Jack Bruce and Troy Tornado seem to be no closer to being resolved, while Jack Giedroyc will want another chance at Vengeance, I’m sure.

Jerry:
And we shouldn’t forget Gregory Black, who made history tonight by becoming the first man in SWF history to notch a perfect four and oh victory in his survival match.

Duane:
It’s been another busy night, thank you for joining us, and we hope to see you next time!

Overall: B

Haven't really read much of this diary, but read much of the Break Like the Wind. The Gilmore promo was kind of powerful, even though I don't like when kayfabe is broken in wrestling. The story of how he got his name, how he was stomped and pushed down by everyone and how he now has the chance to finally put all that aside, rise to the occasion. Become what he had always wanted to become, a World Champion, was inspirational. Only to end an epic story and match into a draw. Personally, I love draws, and that was such a fantastic ending and a good write up hands off; fantastic work JC!

Loved the Gilmore promo too, but RDJ appearing felt like a huge moment, from the glance between The Succession, and the commentary as well as RDJ looking out from the ramp. Great writing made the moment feel huge. Like it should be! :D

Great, great Pay Per View.
